Thanks a lot for this great list, Maryse
My last read was Marriage for One by Ella Maise….it was more than 5 stars for me.
I just loved the slow slow burn. I loved how they fell in love…
Loved loved the heroine….and how she was counting his smiles, so adorable
I know some readers found it boring or too slow but for me…it has something magical… left me feeling good. I would read another book about these two just going on with their lives.
Oh I LOVE a slow burn. I tend to love the ones that take their time getting there. Thank you, Cat!!! 😀
I recently read and enjoyed this one too! I did not find it too slow or boring. I thought the H was swoony and loved how grumpy he was.
I like the sound of this one. Will have a look at a sample. Thanks, Cat.
Good morning Maryse and crew! I’m really wanting to read My Dark Vanessa….anyone want to BR?
I’d buddy read but I’m in a Jewel E Ann moment right now. 😉 But yes. I want to read that one badly!
Though now I’m reconsidering. This one sounds riveting and super-unique!
Right????
Ela–I want to read that, but eep! so expensive! I can read it in 25 weeks when I get it from the library! 😘
For some reason Smoke Bitten doesn’t come out in Australia for another week. Oh well, we’ve waited this long, what’s another week LOL.
I forgot to keep checking the library… and it never popped up on the new adds… so now I’m #121 😭 by the time it gets to me it will probably be out in paperback!
Oh noes!!
Looks like it’s the same for us. I just realized this when I read your comment (original release date was today but they pushed it an extra week).
Same here! Boo! Can’t wait to be inMercy’s world for a little while. Better have some Bran in there this time.
It was for us like that yesterday, but today it’s showing available? I even started a re-read to read the second book (I remembered the book, but forgot a crucial fact) and now it’s here. And my pre-order didn’t come through. Probably a glitch.
I think I’m still a few behind…I don’t know why but the new shinies are taking my PNR world’s place???
I’m like Ela–I’m a few books behind. I finally got caught up on Toby Daye and Jane Yellowrock (neither was a hardship), but I still have to catch up on BDB, Charley Davidson, Elemental Assassin, and Mercy. I’m stuck on the one where Adam’s ex-wife comes to stay with them. I just can’t get through it.
Hey! Busy busy last week or so for me, I’ve had no time to read. Today was the 1st day I got to stay home and force time for myself. It wasn’t easy, but I’m nearly through my book!
You know what book comes to mind right now? Nora Roberts Year One. I spent the weekend at my daughter’s swim champs talking to my Mom and MIL about how little I’ve paid attention to anything coronavirus related. I said I’d pay attention when it seemed like I should and the day after, it’s here. Ppl are freaking out here and I’m catching the paranoia guys. 😬 Huge local sporting events are getting cancelled and I’m stressing about what’s next. It’s nuts.
I watched Spencer Confidential (or something) on Netflix, that’s was a good movie! And the 1st episode of This is Us. It was meh. I did get emotional, but I’m not dying for episode 2. Also caught up on the latest Stumptown episode. Still need to get to the latest Good Girls and The Resident. I’m all over the place. 😂
I have a huge list of to do’s in my head for this weekend and will probably get no reading time, so popping in to say hey, vent my fears, and give a reading/watching update.
I just want to catch up on my reading!!! I keep conking out early. *sigh*
But I DID watch the latest Good Girls and that was darn fun!!!!!
Also for some reason I’m struggling a bit with The Life You Stole by Jewel E Ann. That sucker is pretty dark and often depressing and she took a certain character to a level I did not expect. I mean I knew that character was bad news to an extent but OMG. I mean monstrous and I’m struggling… and then there’s all the lies and secrets and…
It’s a harder read, that’s for sure. And I’m literally at 80% and I keep putting it down to catch my breath from that darkness. I’m intrigued to where she’s taking it though (definitely forbiddeny and loaded in me going EEEEEEEEEP!!) so hopefully I finally finish it tonight. It was not one I raced through, obviously.
Oh wow. I’ve been looking forward to reading that duet, but I’ve got a stack in kind of an order that I wanna tackle first. Sounds like My Dark Vanessa would be too much for u right now though, so hold off on that 1 till we can buddy read together! 😜
LOL!!!! Gotcha! 😀
Looks like I will have a longer spring break. My job just got shut down for a week plus the usual one for prevention.
Food, dramas, and books.
Sounds like an amazing week ahead for you bev!! 🙂
And now our schools are closing for 3 weeks beginning Monday. Is this not the kind of stuff you see in a movie? It feels unreal, like nothing I’d ever thought to see in my lifetime. Excuse me while I cry…… On one hand, I imagine all the extra help and unfinished projects I have. On the other, visions of unhappy children stuck in this house all day with me, every day, are swirling in my head.
I’m definitely freaked out by the whole thing. Surprisingly my Publix was loaded in all goods including toilet paper this week, and it was really calm in there (nobody frantic), but reading the news and seeing pictures and reading articles, the world is looking so different.
Right? I went to the grocery Tuesday and it was fine. Today? Not so much. And I never got the freaking tp even though I made a joke about it! 😂
I’m a scheduler and I’m seriously stressing about all my plans for the rest of the month being messed up. We thrive on schedules! Kindergarten screening was coming up and banquets, school performances, Father/daughter dance. It’s all up in the air now.
As my boyfriend tells me, my dear friend… “just flow”.
More flow, less fight. Go with it, and do your best. You got this!
I get you though. I thrive on (and feel like I NEED) order and lists, and routines, but sometimes we get a little mix-up to work with. 😉
I can’t flow, it’s not in my nature!! 😂🤣
I shall adjust, but I’m still super disappointed a lot of things that we looked forward to, spent money on, worked super hard for are cancelled and most will not be rescheduled. It’s fresh, that’s all, I’ll get over it.
On a positive note, I finished Where the Lost Wander and I’m in ❤️❤️. I cried a little when it was over. *sigh* Such a good book.
I started saving my yearly calendar last year and wanted to make a habit of it, kind of like a scrapbook type thing that I don’t have to put effort into. This month, I’m gonna cover it in the words, averted by the Coronovirus, ALL over it in really dramatic font so I can always remember when (our) world went nuts.
I have to admit I wasnt taking it all very seriously, and thought people were over panicking. But today I kind of get it and think all the closures though scary and disappointing is prudent. Apparently, places like Taiwan who went through SARS acted very fast and their numbers show it though they are close to the heart of the outbreak.
I just rea(ok skimmed) this article and it just kind of clicked for me. It just puts it all out in numbers. I’m not a numbers person or think in these terms but people talking in this sort of unemotional way works for me sometimes. I actually came across it today on the Fug Girls site, lol.
https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca
However, people buying up the toilet paper needs to stop, lol.
Did you all see Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have it?
Yep. I’ve taken it seriously within the last 24hours for sure. I was a little worried probably 48hours ago, but now I’m stressing and I don’t wanna look anymore, but can’t look away either. I feel like now that the President has made his speech and the schools are all closing, panic will start rising and that’s another thing to worry about. Ppl just act dumb sometimes, ya know? Also, I’m really afraid it’ll get to a point where jobs will close and these are factory towns where I live. Livelihoods depend on the work and that’d be my tipping point.
For sure the economic repercussions are a concern. Though I’m ok with the time off some I work with are stressing big time. Hopefully, if more places join in it will contain it faster and besides just people being healthy it will have less of an impact in other areas.
It is kind of shocking to see Disneyland close and the NBA to go on hiatus.
I havent listened to Trump’s speech, I tend to just ignore him and occasionally count the days to the election.
Thinking of the election makes me miss Amy. The last one, if I remember, correctly was Amy, R, and I on here talking each other through it.
I’ve always ignored him too, but I have a cousin who continually updates me and ignites my fears and she told me he was going to talk that night, so I tuned in for a bit. It wasn’t that bad, actually, it’s the first time I’ve ever watched him talk (I’m EXTREMELY un-political).
Yep I remember that! And now that I’m in Belgium and can’t possibly get home before the cutoff, I count the days too. I know as a US citizen I shouldn’t be affected. Would be nice if I could trust that! Upside, there’s toilet paper here.
That has to be stressful, but I hope you can just enjoy your vacation. Nothing you can do about it today so like Maryse “Just flow.”
It looks like Belgium is closing some things down too?
Eeeeep!
What a time for R to be abroad… I hope you’re having a wonderful time, no matter what. 🙂
We’re sticking to the small villages right now. A lot is closed for the season but we expected that. We’re in Dinant and it’s beautiful. On a mission to have a Chimay Bleue every place that’s open! Hoping to tour the citadel and Durbuy tomorrow and Bastogne/Foy on Sunday. Then on to Amsterdam, which I’m a lot more nervous about!
I feel like there may be a pot joke in here, but also maybe not the time.
If they quarantine you on your way back in let us know we could do a group BR to help pass the time.
Lol I’m paranoid enough! And I’ll let you know. On one hand I want to be home, but on the other, it’s panic free here. There’s toilet paper and soap (and limoncello)! And we’ll hopefully miss the chaos of people trying to get home asap.
I’ve read some pretty interesting articles on The Atlantic. I’ll see if I can find them again, but I’ll definitely check out yours. I’ve been reading like crazy about this.
And yes… and then they totally disinfected the place where she performed at. Holy moly.
I think that sounds like a good way to release some anger. 😉
