Reader Confession – What "next in series" book are you anxiously awaiting?

Ohhhhh goooooood question!!! I know we can LOAD this list up with huge love for certain series and anticipation for the next!! OR wishing for the next (even if there isn’t one even planned). LOL!! 😛

The confession? It appears there’s a bit of frustration mixed-in, with the anticipation. 😉 But it’s just because we love ’em so much!!

Please note: This post is not meant in a complaining manner, or to put pressure on our the authors. For many, creativity is never at its best under pressure, nor can it possibly be exciting and exhilarating. We can truly feel your love for writing, your inspiration and exhilaration in your stories and it leads us down that same wonderful path.

We read and write because we love to. Authors have real lives to live, and inspiration may take them in different directions. I truly believe that we should all follow our bliss. Consider this more of a fun reader’s “wish list” for more from our favorites. 😀

MichelleS brought this potential topic thread to our attention when we were discussing our favorites in a certain genre of movies & books, which sparked her enthusiastic excitement over her absolute favorite series in the genre, and how desperately she was waiting for the next one:

MichelleS: Hands down, The Soul Mate (The Holy Trinity Book 1), by Madeline Sheehan. Except…. it’s a trilogy, and years later I’m still waiting for book three.  …How about that for a thread topic? Next book in series you are waiting for?!?!?

Tasha: I don’t know about putting pressure on authors, though I definitely understand the frustration. I don’t think I would be able to work under pressure and if I did, the product probably wouldn’t be well received.

But, books I really really want: I miss Karina Halle’s paranormal! I won’t read any of her contemporary because they make me sad, not because I’ve read them, but out of mourning. Lol Though, I did read a couple outta the Sins and Needles trilogy and loved em. I want the next after Veiled: A Standalone Paranormal Urban Fantasy.

I also really want the next in Kitty French’s Chaplewick Mystery series. At least an update on whether there will be more or you know, a timeline. Something.

Chelsea Cain, I read her One Kick, floved it, the end said the date of the next one. Everyone was so looking forward to it, still ask about it. Well, it doesn’t exist anymore!! And there’s so much I need to know! She changed publisher or something. It’s not fair. It was a big tease and then taken away. *sniffles* I’m sure there are more, I can’t think of them right now though.

Kooloo: My fav zomb/apoc series is UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD by Sarah Fleming – it had everything romance, humor, heartache and horror = perfect BUT I’m waiting for Book 3 of her NEXT series which happens on the same time line but revolves around the younger brother of the heroine Cassie in UTEOW!!! I made the stupid mistake of reading Mordacious (The City Series Book 1) and I have Book 2 but refuse to read it until Book 3 is out… Fool Me Once and all that – Gahhhhhh

Cheryl: I’m still waiting for sequel to Eternally North and Amber to Ashes.

Grey: …I am most anxiously awaiting Sleeping With Monsters by Amelia Hutchins and I know it’s coming… so yeah, *shrug*

What “next in series” book are YOU most anxious about, or are still hoping for? 

Leslie M: Forget what Maryse said, I AM pressuring!!! Robin?! *cracks whip* Get your fingers clacking and finish Riders on the Storm already!! *giggles*

(aka “Robin”) 😉 : Within the first 2 hours of waking this morning, I was hit with the hubs/friends wanting to talk about scheduling: SXSW, Memorial Day weekend, RT in Reno, 2 different friend visits, 3 concerts, and the mermaid retreat. I was all STOPPPPPPP! I kinda have this little duet to get back too! I’m in the process of blocking out the rest of my calendar right now! 

Claire: I’m impatiently waiting for With This Man (A This Man Novel Book 4) by Jodi Ellen malpas I know it’s out in March but I seriously can’t wait.

Tessa: I’m waiting for the next Arcana book by Kresley Cole out next Tuesday.  Past that, the spin-off for Nick, Promise of Fire. Sherrilyn Kenyon said 2020 (ish). She’s got a lot on her plate so she’s not promising it sooner than she can. Then, after this adult series, we’ll finally get Nick’s adult series. And I SOOOOO want that one more than all the others.

Kathy P: I am waiting for the next Carian Cole book in the MC Series (Devil Wolves). I loved Torn and Tied and hope one is coming out soon!!

Jan: We’ve been waiting for the next Rusk University book from Cora Carmack for quite a while.

Robyn C: I am also waiting for My Heart and Soul…The Holy Trinity Trilogy by Madeline Sheehan. I think she has been so involved in her MC series that maybe she forgot this one??? It’s been so long I don’t remember books 1 and 2! Also, Unbound…The Tied Man 2 by Tabitha McGowan.

Teri: I’m with Grey – I cannot wait for Sleeping With Monsters to come out oh and AAArrrrooohhhhhhhhh – Anne Bishop’s The Others, one of my very, very favorites! No pressure from me though – great things are worth waiting for and all it!  

Stacey: Amber to Ashes (Torn Hearts Series) by Gail McHugh: Part Two please!!! Undying (Undeniable Book 6) by Madeline Sheehan and Audible edition of Undeserving (Book 5).

Sandi: The last book in the Charley Davidson series, “Summoned to the Thirteenth Grave (Charley Davidson Series)”, and they just pushed the release date to February 2019, just too cruel….

Andrea: I am waiting on the conclusions to the Heller and Little Town series by JD Nixon. I recently discovered these from an older post on this site and loved them.

Amy: I’m with MichelleS and Robyn…we NEED the third Holy Trinity book!!  Maryse, you need to read the series. I know, I know…you are ALWAYS receiving recs from every direction, but THIS one will take you back to those glorious paranormal days from years ago but with a very mature feel from the fabulous Madeline Sheehan.

And it’s only two books (well, two and a half) so far!! What can we do to entice you? Huh? Promise a drunken Friday night chat on here while you read it? I would totally re-read it with you…

All this Holy Trinity talk has me all hot & bothered, and prickly. I’m going in for a reread because I’m such a sucker. Can’t even look for a good quote because EVERYTHING is highlighted. Crazy! Amy???? You in?

Danette: Yep, I’m in The Holy Trinity camp. It’s hard to convey just now good the books in this series have been. I *need* this conclusion. Please Ms. Sheehan!!

Caroline: I have been waiting (im)patiently for Amped by Tina Reber. It is the next book after Jacked. Rumor has it that it may be coming soon!

MichelleS: I’d like to add Age of Alpha’s series by Kele Moon to this list. LOVED Winter’s Dawn, and there were supposed to be fated mates for each season. Such a great werewolf world she created. Sigh… And the next ACOTAR! Gah!!! Might as well add the next in Outlander! Diana Gabaldon takes YEARS. Crikey.

Wanda: Never Have I – book 8 in the Never series by CM Stunich. Was supposed to be released September 14, 2017 and was even up for pre-order on Amazon. Suddenly all pre-orders were cancelled, the book disappeared and no word from the author on a new release date or anything about the book at all.

Paramita: God!! I’ve been waiting for raw rebirth by Belle Aurora since I don’t even remember. It’s almost like I’m waiting for godot
