Kris is looking for recommendations! Oh I’ve read a bunch like this… I just can’t pinpoint exact books just yet. Hopefully my memory comes back to me and I can add some to this list, too.
Like, I think a few circumstances in the Anita Blake series, and of course, the Sookie Stackhouse series (part fae and vampires… oh boy! PURE trouble).
And I have a feeling, Jacob (werewolf) and Renesmee (vampire) will be problematic if Stephenie Meyer ever writes their story, in the Twilight series one day. 😉 Tee hee!
And my very favorite of trope of them all in this forbidden love genre… is a human heroine and a paranormal Hero that normally hunts (or feeds from) humans. Or his species disregard the humans… believing humans are beneath them. Ahhhhh I’ve always been a sucker for those (and those are mostly what I read back in the day – especially the “vampire loves human” ones)!!
She asks:
Hi,
love your blog! I legit check it every Monday, Tuesday and Friday 🤫
I was wondering if you could help with some suggestions for books with a theme similar to the movie “Underworld”.
Would love to read some paranormal romance series where the relationship between two species is frowned upon or forbidden.
Thanks
Kris
Any favorite recommendations?
Shara: From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout. You will not be disappointed. I’m obsessed with the series. Both books were my favorite in 2020
Nicholette: The Psy Changeling series by Nalini Singh
Susie: was going to recommend this series too.
Kimberly: Yes! Great series.
Catherine: Renegade Angels series by Sylvia Day???
Sandy: Sylvia Day…PN series; the Renegade Angel Novels that’s an excellent read.
Maureen: This is such a brilliant set of novels
Jasmine: This series is SENSATIONAL.(I seriously wouldn’t mind this being turned into a mini series and see these characters come to life).*sigh* This series has it all and more.
Amber: Harem Station series by JA Huss
Erica: Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Ashley: My favorite forbidden romance is actually the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout…. I remember reading those when they first came out and just being so consumed by them.
Cindy: The Lux series started my fan obsession for Jennifer Armentrout! Great author, creative stories!!
Lisa: Her Lux series is one of the best series ever written in my opinion and like revisiting them every year.
Nicholette: Trixie Towers series by Scarlett Dawn. First one is Marvels and Misfits. Enemies with benefits, forbidden lovers
Camille: A Discovery of Witches-All Souls Trilogy-Deborah Harkness. So, so beautiful! Love between “creatures” is forbidden. The author is an Elizabethan scholar-the writing is phenomenal. And bonus: they’ve made a show of the series on Sundance Channel. They are in season 2 now!
Ava: Oh man, I love so many “forbidden love stories”! …really love Matthew and Diana from A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness!
Tessa: Discovery of Witches is long. All of that series is long, but I loved it, especially how smart it was, without the usual historical tropes that you sometimes find in time travels.
Courtney: Suzanne Wright’s series sometimes pair different breeds or a shifter with a human.
Liza: Anna Craven Darkstar Mercenaries
Michelle: Immortal after Dark series by Kresley Cole
Hope: Sherilyn kenyons Bad Moon Rising
Tracy: I love Fang’s humor and Aimee’s forever understand on things. I am fascinated with the concept that I could communicate with my man while no one else can. I guess all lovers create their own world that will always lead them with each other.
Tonya: I received Bad Moon Rising from a friend along with a bunch of other books. I was hooked on the dark hunters after that.
Arlyn: JR Wards BDB series
Kimberly: Radiance Wraith Kings #1 by Grace Draven. I think this one fits the description.
Anne: Re-reading Radiance and yup its just as good as I remembered. I just love Brishen and Ildiko together!
MichelleS: …loved Radiance. That was a 5 star for me, because I would re-read it and I still remember almost everything. Just such great story telling there, and I always love a beauty and the beast kind of story. Still laugh about “the potato” scene. LOL.
Leslie Fear: Peripheral—Greek Demi god and human.
Kristie: Daughter of Smoke and Bone?
Young: I just finished a fantastic book and wanted to recommend anyone who’s in book funk. It is called Daughter of smoke and bone by Leni Taylor. I think someone here (maybe Bev?) recommended before. It is labeled as YA/fantasy but I didn’t feel it too YA
Lisa: Hi. I floved Smoke and Bone! That is an amazing series
Tasha J: I just basically went in blind, and it’s one of my favorite fantasy subjects! Yay! I haven’t read very many w/angels, fallen angels, demons or in this case Chimaera, but it fascinates me and I’m liking the different spin on this one. And the writing is so good too!
From blood and ash by Jennifer l armentrout. You will not be disappointed. I’m obsessed with the series. Both books were my favorite in 2020
YAY! Thank you Shara! I’m adding it!
A Discovery of Witches-All Souls Trilogy-Deborah Harkness. So, so beautiful! Love between “creatures” is forbidden. The author is an Elizabethan scholar-the writing is phenomenal. And bonus: they’ve made a show of the series on Sundance Channel. They are in season 2 now!
Thank you Camille! I added it. 😀
Would the New Species series by Laurann Dohner apply?
More in the erotica side of the romance spectrum maybe, but it’s kind of fun to read. Probably lighter than the series mentioned above.
Jeaniene Frost’s Night Hunter series – I love Cat and Bones! Ella Summers Legion of Angels series is also great. For a less well known series I really liked Tara Grayce’s Fierce Heart – a human princess is forced to marry an elf to ensure peace between their nations.
I have been obsessed with romance books these last few months and these are my top favourites…
Fav paranormal romance series is Tracy wolff Crave series, last book in series is due to be released later this year. It has it all – vampires, witches, love triangle/square!
Bad boys romance books series – if you haven’t read the After series please, please stop everything and read it. The first book is probably my favourite purely for the intensity and plot twists the whole way through! Plus they have released moves for books 1 and 2 with 3rd to be released this year.
Another series I loved was the Thoughtless book series. Deals with love triangle queue lots of angst and intensity (sounds a bit cheesy but was great read).
