In Flight (Up In The Air)
<—- Well, you’ve found another one, friends! We’ve enjoyed Β a bunch of “What to Read After Fifty” options, and the Crossfire series was by far the obvious first and most perfect choice, but… we have another winner! It’s been months, and we’ve been questing and we’ve done good. *nods* We have. But to finally get another full length trilogy (with already two books out, and #3 coming soon) which appears to be the perfect blend of Fifty Shades and Crossfire… well, what more could we ask for?
Shanda:Β I have a book recommendation. Β Maybe it has been recommended to you already or it is on your TBR, but it is called In Flight (Up in the Air) by R.K. Lilley, Β WHOA!!! Β I read it in like a day, couldn’t put it down. Β It is a total Fifty Shades feel, the 2nd one in the trilogy, Β I started last night it is called Mile High. Β Check them out. Β I would love a review.
Rosalind:Β You have recommended so many good books to me I would like to return the favor. I have loved the books In Flight and Mile High by R.K.Β Lilley. The men in these books are like Ethan and Christian. I hope you can add them to your TBR list and enjoy them as much as I have.
Jazz:Β I just actually finished a book that’s very “fiftyish” called “In Flight” by R.K Lilley, it’s about a flight attendant that’s seduced by a sexy billionaire that’s also into BDSM, I’m currently reading the second book in the series called “Mile High (up in the air)”. So far this is the closest to Fifty Shades as I’ve read. (and I”ve read a LOT!)
Mandy:Β Just finished these books and I have I say I β€ them big time! I got completely sucked in by Mr. Cavendish! Whew he’s hot…. This writer is good! … i cant wait for book 3! Thanks for recommending it really is a mix of fifty and the crossfire series!

I gorged on all that was Mr. Mercurial. Sexy, sweet, surprisinglyΒ super-affectionate and (not surprisingly) exasperatingly bossy (but YESSSS to that from a reader’s perspective!!!). A shamlessly possessive alpha male to a T, James Cavendish is all that and more. Oh and, of course, he’s the unattainable billionaire. Remember back in the day when we thought millionaires were cool? Pffffff… how things have changed. Millionaires-schmillionaires. All I want is a billionaire, now! LOL!! Is it weird that I’m cracking myself up? *snort*
Anyway… that billionaire πΒ hottie guy. The one that every woman dreams of. He’s gorgeous (not just “Mr. Mercurial, but also Mr. Beautiful) highpowered, arrogant, self-assured… indifferent. Everything that could make a woman in his company question her ability to keep such a man interested. Not that that’s a good thing, mind you, but you know. I like being the “heroine” and worrying that I’m getting too attached, and second guessing everything. It’s fun!!
He’s THAT guy. And yes, we’ve seen “him” before in other renditions. But this one has that extra *oomph* for me. The length of this book allows us to explore Mr. Cavendish in detail. Get to know him. Enjoy his sweet side, and indulge in days of him lounging in the heroine’s tiny house, delighting in everything that is “her”, and still… everything that is him, too. And agonizing in her apprehension. Because you see, we don’t get his “everything” since we are her, in her head, and can only guess… and hope that befriending him (and more) is not the biggest mistake of our lives.
And, we get to experience his darker side, too. As these billionaires are proving, they have eccentric tastes, specific needs and secret, tortured pasts that have sculpted who they are today. Maybe even distorted their view of reality. Tantrums, bouts of jealousy, control and manipulation abound in this one, and you’ll find yourself both absolutely in love with, and appalled by James.
Moments of sweet perfection and budding trust. *sigh* But don’t get too comfy! Those very moments are shrouded in secrets, and when a few revelations come to light, let’s just say, I was gloriously furious a few times, reading this one, too!
Maryse’s Book Blog: Ok wait. I’ve just been through the sweetest, or should I say most bittersweet moment with James Cavendish (book 1), and in seconds flat, I am now fuming. No. Way!! I won’t say what percentage I’m at but I have a feeling many of you know what I’m talking about. Grrrrrrrrr! And is it wrong to LOVE when that happens?
Kirsten: It is, but you just can’t help but love him.Β Β I really appreciated James just being so I don’t know honest with her. For me it was refreshing.
Kim: AWWW Mr. Mercurial!!! Loved BOTH books!!!Β Drove me nuts but then the Beautiful Angel would do something and I’d fall for him all over again!!
Maryse’s Book Blog: Boy is he ever!
Yanira: Β Ah Delish Mr. Cavendish…so infuriatingly yummy and funny, the things that came out of his mouth sometimes…
Angel Vogts Lighthall loved both books!
Like Β· Reply Β· Saturday at 11:06pmMarinieves: Love the books … Ready for more !
Tracie: I think I know which part you’re talking about and it definitely made me sick. But *spoiler*!!
Jennifer: Ohhh yes my fictional boyfriend list is growing lol do u know when the 3rd book is coming out?
Christine: Totally read this in under a day. Freaking loved them. Thanks for the reference!
Carrie: Β Oh my goodness!!!! Loved, loved, LOVED this series (so far) and can’t wait to read more!
Jenni: “Yes, Mr. Cavendish.” This series has me screaming…”Yes, Yes, Yes, I will move in with you. Yes, you can shower me in diamonds and Yes, please take me back to the 4th floor!”
So what’s it about?
Well, very simply, Bianca is a First Class air stewardess with a certain airline, and meets James Cavendish (a passenger) one day at work. Sparks from the very start. He is SOOOOO hot!!! And his intense (and unapologetic and unrelenting) stare threatens her professional and very stoic demeanor.
He was just so stunningly good-looking. The thought struck me, not for the first time, how unfair it was for one man to be that devastatingly handsome and also a billionaire still in his twenties. Anyone born so privileged was surely an awful person.
He wants her. Okay maybe just for fun… maybe more. Who knows with these guys. You know… the coveted seemingly perfect man that can have any woman he wants. And while she can’t deny her attraction, she knows better. But what she knows, and what she wants are diametrically opposed. Temptation is fierce, and well, James is even fiercer. But the fiercest of all is where she came from, what she lived through, who she now is and what she wants, because of it.
This journey goes beyond one plane trip. James… finds himself on her flights a lot. *grins* FUN!!!!
So he wasn’t going to ask me out. He was apparently going to order me out.
Yah he does!!!
Sure, nothing I haven’t read before in terms of… you know… “billionaire/normal-gorgeous girl” alpha-romance with a spank here and there.
He grinned. “I meant it about the spanking, Bianca. And the submission. You’re going to learn very quickly that I always mean what I say.”
What’s a little spank between friends, right? Heheheh π
Oh wait! Lemme change my reaction. It should have been more like… “Well, I NEVER..!”
BUT!!! Even if I’ve “been here” before, I still thoroughly enjoyed it because I got to explore it in length. Because the author allowed me to live in her airline stewardess world, and even with all of the similarities, it still had it’s own “life”. And that extra time I got to spend with the characters, that extra detail, those moments of sweetness that I let myself indulge in, made those appalling moments even more shocking And that’s what I love. Being so involved in something that I react at everything. I was encouraged to connect with the characters, to believe in the story… and to luxuriate in their lives. Β And I did.
Great job in feeding my “After Fifty” needs. This one fits the bill perfectly!
An easy 4 stars!

Yes, I loved every minute of book 1 and 2. Can’t wait to get my hands on book 3. What a fun series!
I also liked the Consequences and Truth books by Aleatha Romig!
OMG, Mr. Cavendish, what is there not to freakin’ like. I would of been like whatever you want Mr. Cavendish….heheheheh
Looks good!
Loved this series and am anxious for the last installment, Grounded due in February.
@Sharisse- Yes, *sigh* I also loved that screwed up billionaire from Consequences and Truth. I know I shouldn’t, but Tony is the epitome of Mercurial, and I couldn’t help but fall for him.
Not on Nook yet!!! I’m dying to read this. I have a love hate with my Nook when this happens……which is a lot lately.
I loved the series and you nailed it….you find yourself absolutely in love with and appalled by James. I totally agree but would so recommend the books. Can’t wait for the next one.
“What’s a little spank between friends?”
Hahaha you crack me up, Maryse! Definitely adding this to my ever growing TBR list. π
Love this series!
I like the books, but just had this been there done that feel….
I would recommend them but I just didn’t LOVE them. π
I really enjoy this series. I especially like Bianca and Stephan’s friendship.
I loved both the books and the review! At first I had trouble caring as much about these characters as I did Gideon and Eva but they definitely grew on me. I think you will like the second book even more! What I liked about this series compared to 50 shades and Bared to You is that I felt like it was the first time I really understood the whole D-s relationship. Anyway, I can’t wait for the third book! (And for your review of mile high π
i loved these books can’t wait for the next one to come out, reminded me alot of fifty shades but different in its on way:)
I read both In Flight and Mile High, but I MUST know what part you’re talking about here or I may explode:
Ok wait. Iβve just been through the sweetest, or should I say most bittersweet moment with James Cavendish (book 1), and in seconds flat, I am now fuming. No. Way!! I wonβt say what percentage Iβm at but I have a feeling many of you know what Iβm talking about. Grrrrrrrrr! And is it wrong to LOVE when that happens?
Please don’t make me re-read In Flight!!! lol
