Chat GPT put me onto in hopes that you can help me find an old romance book.

I either read it in the late 80’s or early 90’s. It was either a mills and boons, silhouette or harlequin book. It was a a large book, not a skinny mills and boons.

It’s about a woman that wakes up in hospital with amnesia. They have a young son that she can’t remember either. It is set in England and the husband is very rich and they live in a large house or estate. She had left him because she was driven out by others influence. The husband has to help shower her as initially she was unable to take care of herself, maybe in a wheelchair. read more

So these are some details of the book:

heroine has a son and is on the run from abusive husband. This husband of hers made her kill people so she is very skilled in combat; essentially she is an assassin (there’s a part of the plot where the reason she was so susceptible to doing what her husband ordered was because he was giving her an experimental drug that makes you obey commands). read more

I can’t remember the name of this book, but I do remember I read this one online, like in a website.

The hero was firefighter and he was really like the perfect man, the perfect hero, so sweet and he loved our heroine so much, he totally adored her. They were “it” for each other. read more
