Goalie (Texas Mutiny Book 3) by M.E. Carter <— LIVE!!! The Woodlands Series by Jen Frederick <— DAMAGED MILITARY HERO ALERT!!! Laura found us this series on sale saying:
“Jen Frederick’s The Woodlands series is currently bargain priced on Amazon (even in Canada!). I read the first book in the series (Undeclared) last night and immediately one clicked the rest of the series. Noah and Grace, the main characters in Undeclared, reminded me a lot of what I loved about Jen Frederick’s characters Daisy and Nikolai, from the Last Hit (with Jessica Clare).
Undeclared features a damaged former military hero who doesn’t quite understand why the heroine doesn’t find someone better suited to her. The insecure heroine admires the hero’s self-confidence. Both characters have to work through personal issues and do some maturing to make the their relationship work. Instead of flashbacks, you learn about the characters’ pasts by reading letters they wrote to each other while the hero was deployed.”
25 Friday Finds (most of ’em, super-sales!!). Plus, I’ll be adding to this list throughout the day ’cause I received a BUNCH of awesome feedback and recommendations over the last week (and they’re still coming in), so even though there aren’t many new releases on this one, we have plenty of “tried and true” to choose from!!! 😀
Plus! I have a new review coming up tonight for Open House (tumultuous long-term relationship, and OMG HE TOTALLY had me fuming and thinking OH NO HE DIDN’T!!!!!) You’ll see. 😉
Now… take a look at what we found! (NOTE: some are bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
Yours: A Standalone Contemporary Romance by Jasinda Wilder <— HER HUSBAND DIED & HIS HEART WAS DONATED ALERT!! I love the premise of this one! “…Then his heart, beating in another man’s chest, found its way back to me, and I found myself faced with an impossible choice: hold on to the pain and beauty of the past and the memory of the man I loved, or reach for a bold new future, knowing each heartbeat will be a reminder of all I’ve lost.” And it’s super-bargain priced today.
Curio and the Curio Vignettes by Cara McKenna <— CARA MCKENNA AWESOMENESS ALERT!! HE’S AN ESCORT & SHE’S A VIRGIN ALERT!! CURIO IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE STORIES (sexy and so unique with a twist!!) & now the whole series had been bundled at a bargain price!!! P.S. Here’s my 4.5 star review, and now I can’t wait to continue the story!!
Sofia: How about the Curio series by Cara McKenna? He’s a Parisian male prostitute, and she falls in love with him. The story plays out over a few books, and alternates her POV then his as the story develops. They are beautiful and heart wrenching 🙂
Stacy: So speaking of male prostitute’s (never thought I’d say that) LOL, there is a book, Curio by Cara McKenna. She is the same author who wrote Willing Victim. A woman visits a French male prostitute and the story is about how their relationship evolves from there. There is alot of dialogue and emotion in this one… This was a really good book!
Virginia: Thanks, Maryse! I’m a dedicated Cara McKenna reader. This price makes it possible for me to finally read Curio…
Maryse: And I have Curio, but was dying to read all of the subsequent releases so I had to one-click this one, too!! 😀 YAY!!!
Saffron: OMG! Cara McKenna is my ABSOLUTE favorite. Thank you for posting this!
Maddening (Cursed Superheroes Book 2) by Jessica Sorensen <— LIVE!!! SUPERHEROES ALERT!! On her 18th birthday, she discovers something about her power “…Cursed with the power to drive someone to insanity with a simple touch, Heartley now faces a choice. Give into her evil side. Or join a superhero program…“
The Cad and the Co-Ed (Rugby Book 3) by Penny Reid & L.H. Cosway <— RUGBY PLAYERS COMEDY ROMANCE ALERT!!! And D.G. gives us some awesome feedback on this recent release!
D.G.: Did I ever mention that I crush majorly on certain rugby players??? Well, of course Penny Reid’s new rugby player book was right up my alley! The Cad and the Co-Ed. I do love this series so much! My favorite part is the tweets. Some are so random and just hilarious.
Venom & Ecstasy (Venom Trilogy Book 2) by S. Williams (Shanora Williams) <— LIVE!!! DARK READ ALERT!! I won’t read the blurb of this one, since it’s part of a trilogy and I don’t wanna spoil it for myself BUT!!! Here is book #1 Passion & Venom (Venom Trilogy Book 1) and it sounds darn good! Her husband is murdered on their wedding day, and she’s kidnapped by a powerful man… “…Soon after, he makes you an offer that you can’t refuse. All you have do is submit to him, and in return you won’t be punished. He will reward you handsomely. But if you disobey, you must be prepared to face the consequences…“
My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick <— SHE WISHES SHE COULD BE A PART OF THE FAMILY NEXT DOOR ALERT!!! Oh wow this one sounds right up my heartfelt, deep emotional alley. “…every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs her terrace and changes everything. As the two fall fiercely in love, Jase’s family makes Samantha one of their own. Then in an instant, the bottom drops out of her world and she is suddenly faced with an impossible decision…” AND!!!!!! It is super-bargain priced today and Jean and Amy loved it!
Jean: You guys, I am LOVING the Garretts (My Life Next Door)….this book…..sigh, I LOVE IT!!!! The writing…AMAZING!!!
Amy: Jean, RIGHT?!? I absolutely adore the Garretts!! Their interactions, their devotion to each other, how they absorb the h right into the family…LOVE that book. 😀 AND it’s still on sale!!!
We Are the Stars by Teagan Hunter <— LIVE!!! HE’S ANGRY & SHE WANTS TO MAKE HIM HAPPY… “I’m restless, on the search for a new adventure, something to make me feel…well, anything. I’m certain I’ll find a permanent fix soon, but in the meantime, I have this summer job and Carsen to keep me going.”
Jan: Bargain alert! Ruthie Knox’s Truly… I floved this book, and bk 2, Madly, is coming out (finally!) in March, bk 3, Completely, in June. If you haven’t read Truly, check it out. A slightly quirky and very real CR set in NYC. Can’t wait for the sequels!
…A meet-cute in a New York bar when May is down and desperate. Ben and May are so great together in this book. I think I’ve mentioned I’m rereading this one cos the next one in the trilogy is due out soon. It’s a lovely, slightly different CR with not too much angst (for all you angst-haters like me)…
The Rulebreakers Trilogy by Roya Carmen <— FORBIDDEN-LIKE ARRANGEMENT BETWEEN TWO MARRIED COUPLES ALERT!! Book #1 rocked many of our worlds, and now the trilogy is complete. And Megan just devoured ’em! (P.S. In case you missed it, here’s my 5-star review of the first book).
Megan: Just finished a trilogy that had me riveted from the start. I LOVE trilogies! Two couples meet by chance and decide to swap! The arrangement is very specific: no discussing what the other couple does, no emotional attachments, and a few other “ground rules”. As usual, things don’t always go according to carefully-laid plans, and one of the couples starts to break some of these “ground rules” – with far-reaching consequences for the two families involved. I would REALLY RECOMMEND this series, as you have no idea of how the situation will be resolved… THE GROUND RULES 1, 2, 3 by Roya Carmen.
Dirty Duet (Found in Oblivion Book 3) by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott <— LIVE!! ROCK STAR ALERT!! “Lauren Bryant is a student of psychology, and now she’s going in depth on rockstars. Specifically, fans. What makes a woman turn into a lust-driven groupie?“
44 Chapters About 4 Men: A Memoir by B.B. Easton <— LOL!!!! THIS ONE SOUNDS SO FUNNY!! SHE WRITES JOURNAL ENTRIES TO MANIPULATE HER HUSBAND… with *ahem* HINTS… but it doesn’t always go right. *snort* 😛 “Well, guess what? My husband read that sh!t. And guess what else? He upped his f*cking game. Drunk with power and under the dubious advisement of my best friend and colleague, I began testing the limits—crafting journal entries specifically designed to manipulate Ken’s behavior. For the most part, he responded beautifully…except when he didn’t.” And Kristy recommends this one!
Kristy: “Have you read 44 chapters about 4 men by b.b. Easton? I can’t remember if I saw it on the blog or just picked it up on my own but omg…. It’s just amazing. Read the blurb. You’ll love it.”
Sarah: I just read 44 Chapters about 4 Men by B.B Easton. HILARIOUS. I want more from this author.
Caught Out by Leesa Bow <— LIVE!!! SPORTS STAR SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT!! She’s a single mom and he once broke her heart… “The break up almost ruined her, but she refused to deny him his dream of playing International cricket for Australia. With her life on track as co-owner of a fashionable restaurant, and supporting her five-year-old son alone, Ava cannot risk falling for his charm a second time…“
Cold Hearted by Winter Renshaw <— RECENT RELEASE ANGRY HOCKEY STAR ALERT!!! And it’s super-bargain priced. “…I knew why he was so bitter and angry. I knew why he was so cold hearted. But I didn’t know why I let myself fall in love with him. And I didn’t know why I couldn’t stop–even when he told me to. But when the truth came out, I knew I’d lost him for good … until he came back, more cold hearted than ever before.”
Danylle: Refreshingly good steam punk romance … I don’t usually like steampunk romances but Prince of Hearts (Elders and Welders Chronicles book 1) by Margaret Foxe is amazing! This book held my attention throughout the entire story. It’s set in London in 1896 where airships rule the sky and automatons run the tracks at Ascot. The book is about a klutzy, plain girl named Aline who’s the secretary to a famous, but insufferable, criminologist named Romanov. In the beginning of the book she’s finally had enough and tries to quit…
The Girl Who Came Home: A Novel of the Titanic (P.S.) by Hazel Gaynor <— BOOK FOG ALERT!!! “Chicago, 1982. Adrift after the death of her father, Grace Butler struggles to decide what comes next. When her Great Nana Maggie shares the painful secret she harbored for almost a lifetime about the Titanic, the revelation gives Grace new direction—and leads her and Maggie to unexpected reunions with those they thought lost long ago.” AND my aunt loved it!
“By the way, Maryse, I just finishd a book of which I’m suffering from withdrawals! ” The girl who came home…a novel of the Titanic”. … I LOVED it!! For me, it was a page turner. Such a great way of taking to that time, on that trip!”
Slide (Boosted Hearts Book 3) by Sherilee Gray <— LIVE!!! STOLEN CAR ROAD TRIP WITH HIS BEST FRIEND’S SISTER ALERT!! “…the last thing he expects to find in the car he’s just boosted is his biggest temptation – his best friend’s little sister. Now he’s on the road trip from hell, and the sexy she-devil riding shotgun is determined to make him sin…“
Cheryl: The Marriage Games and Separation Games were one of my fav January reads. Angsty, crazy, steamy read. …It kept me on edge wondering how this would end. Dominant H and ? submissive h.
Echo: A Dark Billionaire Romance (Bleeding Hearts Book 1) by A Zavarelli <— DARK ROMANCE DUET ALERT!! HE’S BLACKMAILING HER FAMILY SO SHE SELLS HERSELF TO HIM FOR 6 MONTHS… “My blackmailer can’t give up his revenge on my family, and I can’t be with him if he doesn’t. But I’m nothing more than a butterfly caught in his net. Do I really have a choice?” AND Marsha is doing her good “book-buddy” duty by recommending this duet!
Marsha: Oh my goodness…..I just finished the Bleeding Hearts Series (2 books…Book 1 Echo and Book 2 Stutter) by A. Zavarelli and it was AMAZING!!!! I thought it was by “Book Buddy” duty to suggest this series to everyone. SOOO GOOD!
Acquisition Series by Celia Aaron <— DARK READ ALERT!!! CRISTINA DEVOURED THEM and I mean just CHECK out this review she left us!!
Cristina: I just read…no wait… I just DEVOURED this entire series in two days flat. If you are in the mood for a dark read, this is definitely it! WARNING! If you have certain triggers this may not be the book series for you, because it is certainly a dark read. Here’s a quick snapshot… “Darkness lurks in the heart of the Louisiana elite, and only one will be able to rule them as Sovereign. Sinclair Vinemont will compete for the title, and has acquired Stella Rousseau for that very purpose. Breaking her is part of the game. Loving her is the most dangerous play of all.”This “elite” is something very similar to a secret society which is ruled by the “Sovereign.” Only certain families are allowed into this society, the main requisite being wealth. But this society is filled with darkness, depravity, and corruption. Every 10 years, a new Sovereign is selected by the current one to rule for the next decade. Three individuals (family first-borns) are selected by the former Sovereign to compete in this process. Each contender must acquire an “Acquisition” to participate in the four trials that occur over the course of a year, and these trials are not for the faint of heart… and I’ll leave it at that. I don’t want to give away too much because it’ll take away from the reading experience, but tbh, when I first read this series (went in blind by the way), I literally stopped after a few pages because it was all kinds of twisted and I didn’t know what to make of it. I was like “Whoa… what is this?” BUT alas… I picked it back up because honestly no other book could hold my attention, and once I got a few more pages in, I was HOOKED!
And here’s the series, bundled.
This series is by far the BEST I’ve read in a very long time. How do I know this? Because right now, I have no gumption to jump into another book. That is my tell.
It gave me the same feels as the “Indebted” series. At times it wasn’t quite as dark as that series, and at other times, it was much darker. If you love these kinds of books, I HIGHLY recommend this series to you! You will not regret it! Bravo Celia Aaron!! I have a serious case of book hangover now… I’m turning in circles, not really sure which book road to take next.
Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward <— INFURIATING HERO ALERT! YAY I love when they make us mad, and this one is back on the list again ’cause it’s a LAST CHANCE SALE ALERT!! AUTHOR WARNS PRICE IS GOING UP this weekend permanently… (P.S. LOL on Ela’s reaction. She doesn’t mince reactions… *snort* 😉 )
Ela: …not yet finished but I have to say I REALLY WANT TO HIT MACK UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH HIS ROD REALLY REALLY HARD
AUDIOBOOK LVERS➜ For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out thefree audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle ebooks are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. !!! VERY COOL!
#1 Crush by T. Gephart – February 20th 2017 <— FAMOUS ACTOR ALERT!!! AND OMG… LOL!!!! This one sounds like SO MUCH FUN!! The ultimate “super-fan” fantasy gone wrong? (or right?!!). 😉 “…she just wanted to meet him. Just one time. One time. Confident that just seeing him in the flesh would get him out of her system. So, with her resolve steeled, Tia set off on a quest to make it happen while avoiding her mug shot being splayed across the five o’clock news. The journey no doubt will make for one hell of a story...”
I see that Pepper Winters and for some reason I have not been in the mood to read dark in a long while. I live dark stories, right? I just haven’t wanted to read them since I got Dollar. Almost six months the without reading one dark book. Weird.

Tessa, it happens… Maybe you’re just waiting for the right moment, or right book. 😉
Maryse, I can’t wait for your review on Open House! I sat down and read it today (just finished) and I agree that there is a lot of realistic emotion, and might I add, circumstances. I literally felt like TC Matson took a few chapters from my earlier married life and put them into print. And yes, I literally had that “Oh no he didn’t!”moment (or a few)!

I one clickity-clicked the Acquisition Series! That sounds like something I can get behind. Secret Society and dark read = yes for Robyn.

Hey guys! Yesterday I was looking through new releases & found a second chance/secret baby one but the blurb was almost exactly like a blurb from another book I read last month. So, I downloaded it through KU & started reading & it was so familiar that I backed out, went back to KU & re-downloaded the book that I read last month. They were almost identical, names were changed & a few tiny details. Exact same scenes, exact same lines. I found the original author on FB & sent her a message alerting her to the similarities. She read it & was shocked. It was complete plagiarism. With so many bad boy/second chance/secret baby books out now, plagiarism has become common….they hope you read so many you won’t see it’s the same freaking book! So, be alert…if you read a book that seems familiar, figure out why….you may be reading the same book twice but separate authors.

Lauren, just had one book I read end up being plagiarized. Apparently it was originally a supernatural fanfic. :/ There’s no excuse for plagiary.
Amy
Lauren, that’s awful! Thank goodness you figured it out and let the author know. I remember that happened where someone had plagiarized and combined two different books (Easy and another popular one, can’t remember which) and was caught. What sucks is I had actually bought the book but hadn’t read it, and it was too late to get my money back she got my money. Dammit.

Thank you. I’m just drained. Completely and utterly drained. Ugh, sorry to be a downer. *Pulling an invisibility cloak up over my head.*
Let’s play 3 things.
1) I love fuzzy socks.
2) I do not like to touch raw meat with my bare hands, it skeeves me right out.
3) After I’m done with Gann, I’m NEVER reading another book this long, ever again.

1.) My Seven Husbands jealousy is growing by the minute. I even made an appeal on FB today out of desperation.
2.) I just ate popcorn for dinner.
3.) I think my malti-poo might not really be a malti-poo. And I’m super sad about that because I call her my little poodle strudel. I think she might be a bichon or a malti-bichon. No cute foods rhyme with bichon.
Tessa
Bichon is leaving things up in the air that could go bad. Though, why not a play on malti? It sounds like Multi. Malti Love? Malti sweet? That could be cute.
Three things:
1. My fever broke on Wed but I still feel WEAK!
2. Some Computer/ Xbox/ Whatever games have stories so good, they are marmy. My two favorites were so good, if they were a book, I’d re-read them over and over again. Instead I’ve played them over and over again.
3. I love fuzzy socks too!!

I’m not even sure if she’s malti. I wonder if her vet can tell us. Her previous owner told us maltipoo but she was a kid that probably didn’t know. But then I discovered Quincy the Bichon and Alice looks EXACTLY like him! This is Quincy BTW, I’m obsessed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjPy5KbwJLo
I even linked him in my newsletter last month. These videos are LOL funny.

Seriously, so sorry to hear of your loss.
OK. 3 things
1) One of my fav things IN THE WORLD is to discover a great author I haven’t read before. Even BETTER if they’ve got a good backlist. (Um, for e.g. when I first found Christina Lauren, Lauren Gilley, the list goes on…..) I found both of these and many others via THIS BLOG. Thanks Maryse 😀 😀 😀
2) I feel let down when I eagerly crack the (usually electronic) cover of a new book by a fav author and find it’s a dud. 🙁 🙁 (Love In Lingerie, Bound By Vengeance……)
3) I want to reread Gann some time this year. Ha ha, Grey. I’m not joking!
Yeah the plagiarism stuff makes me angry. So lazy and cynical, and ripping off our hardworking authors. I’m sure it’s hard enough to make a decent crust anyway as an author. They don’t need this too.
R’s maltypoo is not
She’s a maltybichon and so hot
But she’s cute as a cornichon
That’s a pickle not a bichon
R floves her anyhoo
Bichon not a poo

TJ Klune just announced on FB that Ravensong is going to HURT. *squeals*
1.) I am drinking really cheap wine (called Llano – sweet red… ha… so not a connoisseur).
2.) I love fluffy dogs! I have two Havanese and no one has ever heard of that breed because I live in the south!
3.) I had so much bad junk food today I am either going ot break out in pimples at 50 or bust out of my pants (topped it off with Fish and Fries from Long John Silver’s – UGH).

1. Pretty Face and Devil in Spring come out this month and I’m incredibly giddy at the thought.
1.) I’m cozy in bed reading all snug as a bug on a Friday night. *snort*
2.) It’s a horror book. LOL!!!!!! *My Sister Rosa” (YA, but his little angelic-looking sister is a psychopath – and it is CREEPING me out ’cause I have no idea where it’s going, but I know it’s gonna be jaw dropping!!).
3.) Ramen noodles are my favorite. I like to put cottage cheese in them. Like a TON of cottage cheese and make it creamy and “healthy” (’cause you know… cheese = protein). 😛
R. Renee

OMG Maryse. I saw that on FB yesterday. I can’t even. And the fruit loops stuffed with tuna? That one physically hurt me. I think the weirdest thing I do is spicy homemade chili with cinnamon rolls.
OMG MIchelleS (Fish from Long Johns Silver’s is my FAVORITE). I have yet to have a better “fish and chips” (which I LOVE). Maybe in England I could, but Long John Silver’s has THE BEST fried battered fish and the crispies.
P.S. I also love pickles, and ALL sour foods. ALL. Lemons, preserved lemons, pickled ANYTHING, salt and vinegar chips, vinegar on my fries (and I mean plain ol’ white vinegar, not that malted stuff).
That poem is adorbs!!! Do the cool kids still say adorbs?
R. Renee
Fish and chips is what I’ll request if I’m ever on death row. But I MUST have malted vinegar and no LJS. Red Lobster used to do ok, but then their breading got super thick!
Oh yeah and the tuna and fruitloops… OMG. THAT was beyond something I could have EVER imagined up… and I’ll put some crazy things together when it comes to cravings.
I like that title. Makes me think the story is going to be intense.
R. Renee
Now that I’m a big Fish and Chips fan, I should probably try it again. I snubbed it when I was a kid. I don’t even remember why! I didn’t discover F&C until my late 30s.
Sometimes I like to take a bowl of cottage cheese, and douse it with hot sauce. Any hot sauce. Most often buffalo wing sauce, or Texas Pete’s.
And I’ll eat any cottage cheese, but I prefer the 4% fat stuff. YUM. Large curd.
And the best of the best of the best is Publix brand cottage cheese. I used to HATE cottage cheese, but I went on a super-health kick a few years ago, and cottage cheese was a staple in the diet and I struggled at first, but learned to love it by adding it into foods to hide it, or to just put sour or hot sauces in it…
MichelleS I always douse my fish (any fish) with lemon too. YUMMY YUMMY!!!

That would of been wonderful if that was Maryse ‘ s review of Jan’s poem.
Like, Wow bev Jan is a poet. Her love of pickles really transcends the written word.
Does anyone know: if you get a “gifted book” through Amazon, can you simply exchange it to something else? I’m thinking of doing a monthly giveaway of books I want to support via my newsletter but it may not be something the general populace would want to read. I don’t want to do a gift card because it’s not as fun. So if I gift a book someone has no interest in, is it simple to exchange?
R. Renee

Ugh. Never mind. This won’t work, I have no way of knowing if the person already bought the book or not! Maybe I should stick to a gift card.

So sorry Grey!
3 things…
1. I do not eat fish or seafood…so no LJS for me!
2. My GSP has been acting spazzy for the past couple of days. This drives me nuts.
3. I talk to other drivers daily. (most of my words are not nice either.)
Maryse, I would be totally creeped out by the Alexa randomly talking thing. Which is why I don’t do creepy movies or books.

I am curious about something but not sure how to word it. It is based on a conversation that Leslie & R had about The Raven Boys on GR. This might seem a bit rambling.
Ok, we all know, pretty much, how we all define a romance novel. But how much romance must there be to be romantic? Or for you to feel there is romance in the book?
I love my swoony reads….so much. Those big romantic swoony ones. My Kleypas, Garwood, etc. You know the romance is going to hit in grand ways.
But I also like the quiet ones. The whispers. The, did his hand just brush mine, the was he looking at me type. The Written in Red. Is it a romance novel? No. But does it have any romance? I think so.
So is a hint, a whisper, a wish enough for you?
R. Renee

Sometimes, but not usually. At 50% of The Raven Boys, I REALLY want some romance. I’m struggling to keep going.

I need more than a hint. I need some overt romance in my reads. Doesn’t have to be there right at the start, but you have to know it’s gonna happen.
I love the poem you linked to, bev. I don’t know that one, but *cue spooky music* it fits in PERFECTLY with the start of the book I started reading today, Seveneves. I don’t want to give spoilers so I won’t say anymore, but weird, huh? bev can see inside my head…….
What about this?
Auguries of Innocence
BY WILLIAM BLAKE
To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour
It’s not the whole poem cos it’s really long. But poetry is a very special, condensed form of language that can remind us of the awesomeness of the universe. Wow, huh?

Ugh you guys are making me so hungry with all this food talk! Ok 3 things (this is my 1st, ever)
1.) I Love Food. I love thinking, talking, and eating it. I snack all day long, it is a passion of mine to eat. Hahaha. Seriously, I spent a week talking about the food I wanted to eat when we got to our vaca destination and then we got here and I’m still surfing places. And dreaming of what it’ll all taste like. (Cafe’s, chocolates, cheeses, gormet burgers, spaghetti haven, scottish foods, chicken and waffles, soul food, you name it) I seem to not care about anything but. I looked through a magazine of things to do here and dog eared a bunch and when I went to show my husband how excited I was by all there was, I realized at the end of it: “huh I guess I just marked a bunch of food.” LOL
2.) I’m loving this spring like weather. It’s the perfect weekend. 70s and beautiful!
3.) I hate jeans. Give me leggings or sweats or activewear type pants any day. They’re uncomfortable, and I remember when I was younger I refused to wear them for at least a year. Not much has changed since then, but I’ll put them on a couple times a month, maybe. 😉

Tasha, I hear you. I plan our entire vacations around food. Last time I went to Europe I lost 20 lbs just so I could gain 30. And I don’t regret a second of it!

How much romance? I don’t need romance, honestly, as long as it’s not a solo story. Give me love between family or two best friends. I’m after a relationship, though not necessarily a romance. That’s probably why I don’t mind reading children’s or YA books. For instance, look at Harry Potter. Yes, in the later books, there was some romance, but it mostly went parcel with the whole growing up thing. The thing that truly made the series was the friendship between Ron, Harry, and Hermione. That is what makes a book for me.

I can do hints, or none, or lots. I’m easy. Sometimes it’s a mood thing and I prefer just a bit. Actually I think lately more than not I prefer hints or none. Depends on the story. If it’s an awesome story, I kind of like the romance to be a little secondary I guess maybe? Not so much the whole focus of the book. I think the hints or whispers or attractions and what not give me more excitement than full on love. Leaves more to be desired maybe, I don’t know how to explain it. But maybe I also like some more than none most times. It makes the book more fun and I feel I can connect to the characters more emotionally. It really depends on the book too. I can do a good thriller or historical or autobiography with none. And like Tessa said, I also enjoy a good relationship rather than just romance. For instance, and this is just bc it’s the last book I read, but in Twentie’s girl, I liked the bit of romance that there was, but more so I enjoyed Lara’s relationship with Sadie (her great aunt, also a ghost). That’s the relationship that I wanted to develop the most. It gave me so many laughs, frustrations, and almost tears. And I really loved the mystery of storyline as well. The bit of romance was just a bonus.

Europe! I can only imagine how delicious everything is over there! I bet it was heavenly….*sighs* My only real experience with food that far away was on a trip to Spain in high school. And my taste buds hadn’t matured yet, I was young and dumb and didn’t give anything a chance. I complained about it all and survived on McD’s and Pizza Hut. What I would give to relive that experience now….

I didn’t sleep much. Honestly, the ending of Gann p*ssed me off. What happens next? All that effing time…grrr. I am glad I finished it. Proud of myself. Without a doubt the longest book I’ve ever read.
Now to decide what is next. I was gonna read Wolfsong this month too. But I’ve got a couple ARCs to beta, and the TJR to review. I think those are gonna be next week.

As far as romance goes, I don’t need overt romance but I need something…like R said, a crush or sexual tension, etc. I also enjoy MCs other relationships (I especially love sib dynamics, probably because I am only child). But if book focuses more on things that bore me, then story is a fail. Example is Wall of Winnipeg. (please don’t take offense as I know soooooo many loved this). I felt no sexual tension, lust, romance etc until very very far into book. It felt like first several hundred pages was h complaining about her job with not much else happening. But most of you are much more open minded on your genres/sub-genres. I only enjoy contemporary romance…although I try expanding my horizons, Ms. Picky-Pants is ummmmmm…picky!

Okay, Ipsy talk.
I had been getting some really neat samples in my bags from Urban Decay, Tarte, and some of my other favorite brands but then I slacked off on rating and reviewing them, so now they are sending me crap. The lesson here for me and all of you who get Ipsy bags is…make sure you review your bags!!!!
My bag this month had a facial spray toner and pore minimizer by Dermadeli, and it must have really come from a deli because it has a fishy undertone smell to it. GROSS!! Oh, but I did get a nice fluffy brush for blush so that made up for it. So now I’m off to review the bags I’ve slacked on so maybe next month will be better…
YOU HAVE TO RATE IPSY!!!! They are treating me SO good now, and I now always rate.
Yet again, I received a product from a company that I love (and the actual size I received is a $48 product at all the big stores – Barneys etc…)
And ONE TIME TOTAL a few months ago, they sent me a perfume, and I just can’t handle perfumes unless they smell like cookies or pie or something. LOL! So I noted that in my review, and they personally emailed me to promise me no more perfumes.
WOW!!
Amy

OMG that’s great! I’m almost caught up on reviewing the bags (I needed to review the last four…whoops :?) so hopefully the bags will start to improve.

Grey- * big hugs*
Have to have more than a hint of romance. Can be slow but has to “get there.”
3 things:
1. On sweets overload since Valentine’s. More I eat sweets the more I crave them.
2. Loving the warmer weather. About 60 degrees today!!
3. I have a bichon/schnauzer mix and she looks like Quincy.
Ipsy- I have been trying to review each month because I did notice a drop off in quality. What’s weird is I had been looking online at highlighter’s and a certain eyeshadow color and this month I got a highlighter and the exact color of eyeshadow I had been looking at!! *creepy*
That is how Ipsy does. They pay BIG time attention. I also told them no more dark colored nail polishes. Pastels and cream nude colors fine (my nails are not long and pretty enough for intense colors) so I don’t need to attract attention. 😉
And now… I get the cute ones!

Finished the Torn Duet. I really enjoyed it; maybe book one better than two. I liked the build of the relationships between the h and the two H. Have to say I liked them equally in book one. In book two, I was a little disappointed in that by the half-way point you knew exactly who she should be with. I wanted it to drag out more and have more angst and turmoil. Not to say it didn’t have angst because it did. And just because the decision was made didn’t mean that was the end of angst and heartache. Great read, just wanted a little more in book two.
I haven’t read ’em yet, Cheryl, but I know what you’re talking about… (in general)
Amy

Cheryl, right?? It IS creepy. I have the same thing happen after I’ve looked up books on Amazon or Barnes and Noble…I’ll be on a totally different and unrelated site, like for cooking gadgets or whatever, and there will be an advertisement box on the side for Amazon or B&N showing the EXACT books I was looking at a few days earlier. Same thing has happened with makeup brands like Tarte, Urban Decay, MAC, etc. I know it has to do with cookies and all that but it still freaks me out!!
I left a bunch of comments when reviewing my Ipsy bags earlier…like how I REALLY do not like the vampy or bright red and fuschia lipstick colors. They just don’t look right on me at all. 🙁

I was looking at what else hbo has in the meantime and I think I saw the Sopranos? If so, I may give it a go too. I love reading mafia, and thought I’d like to watch it too. So I tried The Godfather a couple years ago bc I’d heard so much about it. And no. Just no. Not for me at all. Lol
I watched Big Little Lies and loved it so far. Now I want to read the book BADLY to see where this is going…

Amy, I just finished “My Life Next Door” and I loved it! I absolutely adored the Garretts!! I want to be a part of their family too! George was my favorite!! It was one of those belly hurting laughs! It was great!

Cristina, Omg I too just devoured the Acquisition Series by Celia Aaron!!! I read the trilogy this weekend!! I could not put it down. My heart was racing at certain parts, in anticipation of what was going to happen. I read on my iPhone & it was stuck to my face every chance I had. Unfortunately I can’t read in the car, I get car sick & I can’t ignore my family all the time because of my books. This series reminded me of Pepper Winters Indebted series but shorter. Maryse, you should read it. A very good dark read, wow how these authors come up with the darkness. So shocking!!!

Maryse…I loved Big Little Lies, much more so than What Alice Forgot.
But all I can say is I’m gonna be P!SSED if they replace the cover in my Kindle library with the mini-series tie-in cover. I will seriously delete it. STOP DOING THAT AMAZON!!!!
Agreed Amy. I am often VERY attached to original covers. I also enjoy the tie-ins, but they should give us BOTH if there’s an update – and we can choose which to display for ourselves.
Personally, out of ALL of the Twilight covers, the original with the apple is THE BEST. So freaking tempting and gorgeous… to me it perfectly matches the book.
I’m first????
IM FIRST! SUCK ON THAT GREY…..HEY YALL! Finished Wrecking Ball and absolutely 4-star loved it!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am loving Wrecking Ball too. 60% in and I can see why everyone raved about it!
I LOVED it!!!!
It was good!
Seriously guys, My Life Next Door is one of my favorites. Snag it while it’s on sale!!!
Open House sounds like it’s going to be GREAT!! Pretty sure that’s my next 2017 read. 😀
I decided to chip away at some oldies and am reading A Kind of Blue by Amy Harmon….quite different and interesting!
Sorry that’s A Different Blue
Maryse! Sinister Pretty, Book 11, of the Alexa O’Brien series came out today! Finally…been waiting a long time. Oh the author is Trina M Lee, and this is one of my favorite PNR series. Love Arys and Alexa.
I one clickity-clicked the Acquisition Series! That sounds like something I can get behind. Secret Society and dark read = yes for Robyn.
Book 1 of the Venom Trilogy is FREE!!
A Different Blue by Amy Harmon is one of my top reads of all time. My favorite Amy Harmon book. It was such an emotional coming of age book.
Yay Robyn! Let me know what you think!
Amy, I’m starting My Life Next Door right now. 😉
Amy, I saw the h in that one is 17. Is set in HS?
Lauren, just had one book I read end up being plagiarized. Apparently it was originally a supernatural fanfic. :/ There’s no excuse for plagiary.
Dammit.
Thanks Cristina. You’re probably right. *hugs*
Forbidden by CD Reiss is free at the moment.
I loved Forbidden!
YAY Cristina!! I hope you love it as much as I did! 😀
R…it IS set in HS but from what I remember it takes place during the summer so no HS drama. I also remember it having a bit more of a mature feel to it. *sigh* I loved it.
Gah. *slumps in, throws myself into the blankie fort* What a week. We had a former student, a young teenager, pass away. I’m just… I’m glad I’m on break for the next week… I may stay in the blankie fort for the foreseeable future.
Grey that’s terrible! I’m so sorry.
These videos are LOL funny.
er, number four. My sister in law in S. CA just got sent home because the storm is so bad where she is. She’s in Fullerton. They are expected to get up to 2 inches of rain. 0.0
R, that is seriously one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen!
OMG I spent hours on his youtube page one day!
lol I can see why. I spent a good ten minutes watching a video of two cats sharing a bowl of cream.
It’s the little things…
Exactly. That and weird penguins being silly. Both work.
Never say never, Grey.
R.
Cornichon rhymes with Bichon, and that’s french for “pickle”.
And I used to call my other min pin dog (her name was Pixel) “Pickle”. She died when she was 15 🙁 and I miss her.
But that’s a cute name!!
LOL on pickle! Sorry about your baby 🙁
*snuggles Grey*
I’m sorry Grey. 🙁
Lauren, there is so much of that going on… UGH.
*snuggles Tessa*
*sprays Lysol*
I’m glad your fever broke!!! :D!!!
Yeah the plagiarism stuff makes me angry. So lazy and cynical, and ripping off our hardworking authors. I’m sure it’s hard enough to make a decent crust anyway as an author. They don’t need this too.
R’s maltypoo is not
She’s a maltybichon and so hot
But she’s cute as a cornichon
That’s a pickle not a bichon
R floves her anyhoo
Bichon not a poo
TJ Klune just announced on FB that Ravensong is going to HURT. *squeals*
*taps Jan’s head* “bev is that you in there?”
OMG Jan! That’s awesome. I’m saving that! Potentially posting it!
*huggles Grey* That’s horrible.
OOH! Three things. I love 3 things..
I’m not a poet.
Llano’s is good! I just can’t do the sweet. I’m drinking that Beaujolais-Villages French that every store in the world seems to carry. It’s what I get when I can’t find Bordeaux. It’s pretty good, actually, but dry.
Maybe not bev, but you do write wonderful stories. If you apply yourself, you could be as good as Jan before you know it!
1. Pretty Face and Devil in Spring come out this month and I’m incredibly giddy at the thought.
2. I also get giddy at the thought of pickles.
3. I do like this poem.
https://www.loc.gov/poetry/180/133.html
Three things!!
LOL Jan!!!!!!!!!!
That poem is adorbs!!! Do the cool kids still say adorbs?
Fish and chips is what I’ll request if I’m ever on death row. But I MUST have malted vinegar and no LJS. Red Lobster used to do ok, but then their breading got super thick!
Oh my R. That is something you have to take a picture of for us please…
I’ll try anything once. Well… mostly. Food… well…. probably not eyeballs. Or brains. 😛
Oh yeah and the tuna and fruitloops… OMG. THAT was beyond something I could have EVER imagined up… and I’ll put some crazy things together when it comes to cravings.
And yet… I’d try it. LOL!!!
R. How can you possibly say NO LJS?!!!!
*gasp*
*looks up Pretty Face*
I like that title. Makes me think the story is going to be intense.
Now that I’m a big Fish and Chips fan, I should probably try it again. I snubbed it when I was a kid. I don’t even remember why! I didn’t discover F&C until my late 30s.
Cottage cheese is gross.
Lemons and salt and vinegar are yummy.
Wow… bev. How awesome that poem was. So in touch with that exact moment in her life… her observations, and who she is in this world.
LOL Maryse, the poem was Jan’s!
or is there a different poem?
Duh. Didn’t see the link in my email!
LJS is awesome! And they give you malted vinegar – but I like mine with lemon and salt – and a few bites with so much tartar sauce that it is obscene!
It is Lucy Parker ‘ s next after Act like it so probably not too intense, lol. But hopefully really good.
Scary kids are the scariest.
I used to HATE cottage cheese, but I went on a super-health kick a few years ago, and cottage cheese was a staple in the diet and I struggled at first, but learned to love it by adding it into foods to hide it, or to just put sour or hot sauces in it…
Now I’m addicted.
MichelleS I always douse my fish (any fish) with lemon too. YUMMY YUMMY!!!
I used to be a Texas Pete’s addict. That’s what you mix with your ketchup at Chick-fil-a! But then I discovered Cholula…
OMG R…..
That would of been wonderful if that was Maryse ‘ s review of Jan’s poem.
Like, Wow bev Jan is a poet. Her love of pickles really transcends the written word.
OMG I just got the daylights scared out of me, reading this creepy book!!!!
When, all of the sudden – my loud-ass Alexa says: “Sorry… I don’t know the answer”. And I mean loudly.
Alexa is creepy too. Just sayin’ 😉
P.S. She’s in the living room, and I’m in my bedroom, and I don’t want to find out who she’s talking to.
LOL bev and R!!!!
Rosa.
She’s talking to Rosa.
I feel like this is true, bev.
I would totally eat these.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/restaurantsandnews/spoiler-alert-peeps-oreos-are-on-their-way-to-a-shelf-near-you/ar-AAn1Wkf?li=BBnb7Kw
Time for dinner, pjs, and my book.
Oh yeah. Me too bev.
Ugh.
Sometimes, but not usually. At 50% of The Raven Boys, I REALLY want some romance. I’m struggling to keep going.
And, I don’t need the MC’s to couple up that soon, just give me something. Unrequited love even. A crush.
OK I figured out what I want to do. March’s prize is a personalized copy of The Butterfly Project. Is my newsletter worth it? Probably not, but it can easily be deleted LOL. https://www.robinhillwrites.com/news.html
I know! My daughter complained and we had words to say the least! The last time I went, we rented houses so I cooked and it was amazing because I usually cook Italian and it’s so cheap over there!
Isn’t “Prestons Honor” by Mia Sheridan coming out Feb 19th???? I live for her Sign of love stories……
*peeks out* I finished Gann!
Holy crap Grey were you up ALL night?
Did you like it Grey?
I’d be happy to take that TJR off your hands…
Oh, yes. I love all the relationships too. The friends, parental, siblings, ect.
First I read Grey’s take on Gann and then Mariana Zapata ‘ s I love all the different views.
…..and then R would love to take us off to Europe.
Longest book for me was that one in Outlander with the 200+ pages of Aunt Jocasta’s wedding! Ugh!!! Which one was that? I will never reread that beast.
Holy moly Grey…you made it!! Even after Maryse and I ditched you in Gann! And I am so, so sorry to hear about your former student. It is especially tragic when a young person or child passes. So heartbreaking and so unfair. *wraps Grey in a huge bear hug*
WOW!!
OMG that’s great! I’m almost caught up on reviewing the bags (I needed to review the last four…whoops :?) so hopefully the bags will start to improve.
That’s what I get for being lazy. 😉
*creepy*
And yes Cheryl….
And I have to say how sad I am that MAC is not releasing a Beauty and the Beast collection like they did with Cinderella.
So sad.
My name is Cheryl
I got a bichon/schnauzer
I love my doggie
When I see her I say wowser
She looks like Quincy
And that’s no hint, see?
(What?? It rhymes, doesn’t it?)
*dies*
Jan- bwahahahahahaha *spits licorice flavored vodka all over laptop*
Did your bichon/schnauzer step in to lick it off, Cheryl?
Undecided by Julianna Keyes is reduced to $1.99 and book 2 (Undeclared) is up for pre-order (releasing on the 27th!) at a special price.
I’ve had book 1 on my must-buy list for AGES. Can’t wait to jump in!
It’s not even 6am and everything hurts. I am 4% into Mists of the Serengeti. I need the following:
2 fifths of vodka
bulk kleenex
1 fluffy comforter
assorted pillows
rocky road ice cream
Manny
18% I’m a wreck. Totally and completely shattered. This is awesome! 😀
R is JUST reading Serengeti right now???
*sigh* I LOVED IT!!!!!!
Wait until you read the Epilogue!
The epilogue. Oh, my heart.
*clutches chest*
GAH! I loved Serengeti.
Heartbreakingly beautiful story to the very end!!
Oh god does it not have an HEA? Don’t tell me. I won’t make it if I know it doesn’t.
Yes!! I was committed to a couple buddy reads, then my Feb challenge book which I finally gave up on today. But now I’m freaking out like it’s not going to end well. My heart is already destroyed. DEEEEEEEEEESTROYED!!! LOL. Maybe I should have saved this one for March!
I TOLD you R!!! I thought to myself…
I said…
“Self? This seems like an R book. Wouldn’t R love this book? R would LOVE this book!!”
🙂
I can’t even focus on anything else. Jumping back in, hoping I’ll get to a place where I can put it down for a while!
*snort* Good luck with that, R. 😉
Sigh. I had a great ARC that I did an edit read on this weekend. Then I had date day with my little. We went to see Lego Batman, which was the cutest thing ever. Now, I need something else quick to read… Because I have another ARC that I have to edit coming tomorrow, but R is making me want to read Mists…. Maybe when I get my taxes back.
YES GREY!!!!!!!!!!! I’m going through it so fast too! I’ve hardly had time to read today and I’m at 30%. You’d be done in that length of time!
Trying Not To Love You (The Love Series Book 1) by Megan Smith is free.
I hate to say it, but I’ve no urge to read Mist. :/ The sobbing is definitely a discouragement. 😛
Well… I still have my no book buying restriction in place. *boo* So, I decided to start the TJR book.
OMG DUH!! Of course start that one! And email me screenshots of all the pages…
Which R will then share with all of us…
Sorry. No can do, my friends. (My autocorrect just tried to change that to fiends…) But I will, of course, let you know what I think of it.
Fine. Come on, R.
*pulls R over to the pouting corner*
*starts mixing black raspberry martinis*
*points* Amy! You… *huffs loudly* left me in Gann!!! I think I deserve a martini…
I totally just emailed her publicist with a desperate appeal. I’ll keep you posted. 😀
I didn’t leave you in Gann!
Dun dun dunnnnn….I got HBO today and in just one hour I will be starting Big Little Lies!! *eek* I’ll update after, but I’m so excited. Lol
Tasha!!!
I watched Big Little Lies and loved it so far. Now I want to read the book BADLY to see where this is going…
Amy, I just finished “My Life Next Door” and I loved it! I absolutely adored the Garretts!! I want to be a part of their family too! George was my favorite!! I was laughing so hard during the “bacon conversation” that I had tears running down my face. I was trying to read it aloud to my daughter and husband, but I just couldn’t get it out! It was one of those belly hurting laughs! It was great!
*sigh* You’re right, Grey. I DID ditch you in Gann. Here ya go… *slides martini over*
Cristina! Aren’t the Garretts wonderful?? I wanted to climb inside hat story and live with them. I felt so sorry for the older siblings at times, but they were incredibly devoted and loved their family no matter what. I’m so glad you loved it like I did!!! 😀
R.- if I made it thru Mists you will be able to. *hugs*
How long does it take to hear back from NetGalley requests? I have 2 pending since the 15th.
Mmmm, yum. *snuggles Amy.* Thank you everyone for the hugs the past few days, I do really appreciate it.
Mine and Ela’s favorite unmentionable is free on Amazon! The book that shan’t be named. The one that’s black and red and irritating AF? Yeah, that one.
My reaction to the unmentionable book…

*snuggles Grey back*
This is the marmiest book I think I’ve ever read. I don’t think I can put it down tonight.
It wrenches your heart in the most beautiful way, right? 😉
R, her other books (53 Letters to My Lover and The Paper Swan) are just as wonderful. Maybe not heart wrenching the way Serengeti is but captivating all the same.
Ok, so I loved BLL! I thought it was done really well and I loved Madeline especially. I’m so looking forward to next weeks episode!
I loved everthing about Paper Swan except for that *one* part and a few actions/reactions by the h that came as a result. It was more than I could overlook and took it to 3 stars for me. But, unlike the “C” book, I don’t think it was so much a stupid plot decision, just underdeveloped.
Acquisition series is on kindle unlimited. So, one-click for me. Trying to choose books that are KU to keep my book spending under control! 😉
Yay Lisa!! I’m so happy you loved it!! It was very dark and shocking!! I was sneaking some reading time at work over this series! I was completely addicted and could NOT put it down! It also reminded me of the Indebted series. I definitely had a lot of same feels of shock, awe, and adrenaline!
