- Becoming Calder (Aquarius) by Mia Sheridan <— part 1 of 2
- Finding Eden by Mia Sheridan <— part 2 of 2
- Kyland by Mia Sheridan <— JUST RELEASED!!!
- Diamonds (All That Glitters Book 1) by K.A. Linde
We have a little bit of EVERYTHING on today’s list, from a few brand new releases, to reader recommendations & favorite series that have been bundled. Looking for a specific genre? They all look sooooo good! From comedy romance, to dark reads to psych thrillers, to billionaires, to bad-boy fighters, the emotionally scarred and all! You’re in the mood for something in particular? I bet it’s here.
Okay so what I’m reading right now? THIS!! Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny <— I’ve changed it up a bit to keep up with my 2015 Reading Challenge list. And since one of my friends is reading this one (hi Kayla!! 😀 ), and due to my own interest in this story (’cause I LOVED the “Girls Next Door” show) I had to jump in. Yep! An autobiography, and this is no hardship for me ’cause I love autobiographies (especially the juicy ones). The ex-Playboy girls sure seemed like quite the story and I’m having fun! I should be finished tonight so review to come shortly. And I certainly have a few things to say about this one…
Teri: I finished this yesterday. Very enlightening read! I want a Bridget tell-all now! She was always my favorite 🙂
Maryse: I loved Bridget the most too!
Carrie: I want to read this 🙂 Bridget was always my favorite!
Tessa: Holly Madison, huh? You’ll have to tell us. She always seemed so calculating. When it was on, I saw little bits. The other two were seemed sweet, but she just seemed cold emotionally.
And then next, it’s gonna be hard for me to choose… likely something from my latest TBR list, or the latest Kristen Ashley biker book (Ride Steady (Chaos), OR Jezebel that I’ve been dying to know what all the twist-fuss is about!! I’m about 40% into Sloth, so I might switch back to that…
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
EBOOK BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
- Wasted Lust: (A 321 Spinoff) by J.A. Huss <— JUST RELEASED!!! This one came out just a week ago and I missed it! SO here it is. 😀 Author says CAN be read as a standalone but best to read the others before it ’cause the character in this one was a child in the other books (now this is HER book). The love of her life leaves her for her own good… “Sasha Cherlin died the night she let Nick Tate walk out on her for a life of crime. Her very essence was destroyed when they broke their promise to one another…“
- Three, Two, One (321): (A Dark Suspense) by J.A. Huss <— DARK READ ALERT!! And for those that missed it, here is the first book, that had so many jaws dropping! Donna loved it saying: “I’m at the 69% page of 321! Please tell me if I am going to be heartbroken so, I can prepare myself.. Loving this creepy raunchy book” and then… “321 was definitely my kind of book 5 stars for me.” and Fabi agrees: “…it was a 4.5 star read for me. I may be a little stingy with my stars, idk. But it was good.”
- One to Chase (One to Hold Book 7) by Tia Louise <— Can be read as a standalone and just recently released!
- Bang Switch (Code 11- KPD SWAT Book 3) by Lani Lynn Vale <— JUST RELEASED SEXY BAD-BOY COP ALERT!! “Lachlan Downy was a lover, not a fighter. Okay, he wouldn’t lie, he was a fighter, too. But nobody had to know that. Especially not Memphis Tennessee Conner and her stuffy attitude when it came to cops and ‘men like him.’“
- A Forever Family (Forever Trilogy, 6) by Sandi Lynn <— JUST RELEASED!!! I remember this series being really popular a few years ago!
Jezebel by K. Larsen <— JAW-DROPPING TWIST & JUST RE-RELEASED!!! This one had tongues wagging in excitement upon it’s release a few weeks ago, but the attention was overwhelming and the author took it down for a bit while she got a handle on some anxiety issues. Well… she’s back, it’s back AND!!! She’s released a brand new novella, too! YAY US!! 😀
- Lying in Wait: A Companion Novella to Jezebel by K. Larsen <— JUST RELEASED & IT’S THE FOLLOW UP NOVELLA to Jezebel!
- Lust (The Fight Club Book 6) by Becca Jameson<— JUST RELEASED MMA FIGHTER/EMT ALERT! He keeps having to rescue her… LOL!! And he’s hot! “When Zane arrives to rescue a woman trapped under her back porch, he almost swallows his tongue at the first sight of her fine legs and sexy butt. If that isn’t enough, Abby can’t seem to stay out of trouble. He has to rescue her yet again the following week from an accident…” Sounds like it could be guilty pleasure fun. Plus, of course, there’s danger when her best friend gets in trouble with the mob…
- PLAYER by Joanna Blake <— FAMOUS FOOTBALL PLAYER ALERT! Bargain priced and his childhood neighbor is not impressed with him at all… “he’s even forgotten me, the snot nosed brat from next door. So much so that he hits on me when he comes in to eat at the barbecue place I work at to pay my way through school. But the jokes on him when I turn him down in front of all his meathead buddies.” Tee hee!!!
The Kind Worth Killing: A Novel by Peter Swanson <— PSYCH THRILLER ON SUPER-SALE ALERT!! & HIGHLY loved by those that love the psych thrillers, and by many in our own reading crew. It’s one of Sadie’s absolute favorites and she’ll throw peanuts at you if you don’t read it. Sadie: ” I have been telling maryse to read “the kind worth killing” forever so I’ll throw some peanuts for them.” I totally one clicked it Sadie, I promise! 😀
- Fearless: The Complete Novel (Dartmoor Book 1) by Lauren Gilley <— GRITTY BIKER BOOK ALERT!! My book-bud Kandace LOVED THIS one!! “Last week I picked up Fearless by Lauren Gilley and absolutely loved it. It’s a Motorcycle Club story! This book has everything we love in our MC books: gritty, intense, amazing club dynamics, protective and fierce bikers, a epic love story, strong h. You all will love Mercy. He’s something special. He’s all alpha. Fearless is a standalone. It’s over 800 pages but I promise you’ll wish it was longer. You won’t want to let them go.”
- Power Play (Risky Business Book 1) by Tiffany Snow <— TIFFANY SNOW/SALLY LOVED THIS RECENT RELEASE ALERT!! So it’s back on the list! She says: “I READ it and LOVED it ! If you are a Kathleen Turner series fan I KNOW you will love it! If you need a little something more than just romance in your books like ME then Romance/Suspense is probably what you are looking for…”
- All-American Girl by Meg Cabot <— I heard a TON of squeeing over this author at RT 2015, and this one is on super-sale! Teen love and she’s the middle child between 2 sisters, and she’s in love with her big sister’s bf, and the president’s son just might be in love with her! *wheeeee!!!*
Unbeautiful Series: The Complete Set by Jessica Sorensen <— BUNDLED SERIES 2 BOOKS/BOTH EMOTIONALLY SCARRED & BARGAIN PRICED ALERT!! She’s the beautiful cheerleader with emotional scars and anger, and he’s the tattooed & pierced bad-boy that is mute! “Maybe if they knew, they wouldn’t fear me so much. Then again, maybe they’d fear me more.” Ohhhhh!!!
- Nice Girl to Love: Trilogy Boxed Set (#1 Resisting, #2 Falling, #3 Choosing) (CAN’T RESIST) by Violet Duke <— BUNDLED SERIES 3 BOOKS LOVE TRIANGLE & BARGAIN PRICED ALERT!! OMG is it gonna be a LOVE triangle? She’s helping her best friend raise his little girl, and a bad-boy lawyer is trying to entice her… “Abby Bartlett is the quintessential nice girl. Between teaching, volunteering, completing her PhD, and helping her best friend raise his daughter, Abby never gets the chance to be anything but nice. That is, until the all-wrong-for-her man she’s only ever known from afar starts daring her to simply take that chance for herself…“
- The Billionaire’s Obsession: The Complete Collection Boxed Set (Mine For Tonight, Mine For Now, Mine Forever, Mine Completely) (The Billionaire’s Obsession series Book 1) by J.S. Scott <— BUNDLED SERIES & BARGAIN PRICED ALERT!! “Once a serial trilogy, The Billionaire’s Obsession is now complete with a bonus story in this complete collection about Simon and Kara…”
- The Consequence of Loving Colton by Rachel Van Dyken <— BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND ALERT & SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH ROMANCE LOVE TRIANGLE FUN!!! She’s into her brother’s best friend (sexy firefighter) but he only sees her as his friend’s “little sister”. But they end up being last-minute dates to her brother’s wedding. And then… her best guy-friend from college shows up to the wedding, and he likes her… and then it’s war! LOL! And Katherine just said: “Whatever you do – do NOT read “The Consequences of Loving Colton” in public. I could hold in giggles – but full on snort-laugh was not going to be subdued, and I did that a lot with this novel!” 😛 YAY!!!

And for AUDIOBOOK LOVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free ebooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as AUDIOBOOKS AT A BARGAIN-PRICE!<—
Audiobooks for ebook super-sale prices. I’m thrilled with that, and what’s fun is you can flip flop from reading it, to listening to it without losing your spot… This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL! (This is the “Whispersync” thingie).
Fallen Crest High: Fallen Crest Series, Book 1 by Tijan <— HOLY MOLY it’s SO CHEAP!!!!!!!!! The audiobook version is available via Amazon’s “whisper sync” (meaning if you already have the Kindle book, you can get the audio for SUPER-CHEAP!!!) and considering the book version is free… OMG). MINE. Totally one-clicked this. Now… and I gonna read it, or listen to it? 😉 No matter what, I HAVE TO get this series under my belt. Melanie just reminded me saying: “Maryse, I was getting up to date on my news feeds, and read that Tijan is really close to publishing the next book in the Fallen Crest Series. That’s when it got me thinking back to your TBR list and recalled this wasn’t on it. You HAVE to bump this up on your list somewhere so you can join Team Mason.” Yep. I think I have peanuts in my hair again…

Listen to Melanie! *grins* After your autobiography, of course. I’m still very curious of your opinion of her after the book. Who knows? Maybe it’ll show some major vulnerabilities that we didn’t see in the show.
TONS of vulnerabilities… she was not happy.
Lots of backstabbing and mean girls, and catty thoughts and temper tantrums.
3-2-1 was soooo good! I’m excited about the spinoff!! 1-click!!!!
That’s sad. Women need to support each other. Lift each other up.
Well actually the three girls from the actual show did get very close and supportive of each other…
It was BEFORE the show… all of the other girls that used to live there. It would appear Bridgette, Holly and Kendra were true friends in real life, too.
*grunts and tries to lift up Bev*
Oh, that wasn’t what you meant? 😛 Yeah, I know…I’m a dork but it’s Friday and tomorrow’s the 4th and it’s time to kick things off! Speaking of…
https://www.food.com/recipe/4th-of-july-martini-176415?photo=313038 😀
First: Preordered FIghting Shadows by Aly Martinez and am so excited for it to come out next week.
Second: Finished Sloth and after all the Hoopla I was a tad bit disappointed. It was good but not exactly what I was thinking or hoping for in the end. Can’t wait to see what you think.
Third: ok just kidding I don’t have anything else! 🙂
LOL Nicole!!
Yeah, I’m enjoying Sloth but it’s not unputdownable yet, for me… I just read, however that it’s a slow start, so maybe that’s what the issue is for me.
Off to check out Amy’s martini!!!! God I wish you guys were here with me for the 4th of July!!!
Peanut butter hot dogs for all!
And those chicharrones (<---spelling??) burritos sound pretty good. I like chicharrones.
Thanks Maryse… I am going out of town camping with the fam for a few days. Need to have my kindle fully stocked LOL!
I just clicked on Wasted Lust, was thinking about Jezebel, The Kind Worth Killing & All American Girl.
Ive read a couple other books this week… they were good, but really after last weekend’s book glut of The Ground Rules, King, Sloth & Priest; I’m in a total book hangover.
So, I’ve got my butterfly net out and I’m ready to collect all of the thrown peanuts. I’d love to get suggestions…and this is my trusted spot for recommendations. It would be awesome if everyone just posted with their favorite or couple favorite books.. *throws peanut* LOL!
I don’t know, ladies…I think I’m in the minority with Sloth. I was having fun with the WTFs and trying to figure out what was going on and dreading what *might* be going on, but then it just…stallled, I guess, for me. It was almost like things changed so drastically that I couldn’t adjust. Okay, I get that the overall tone HAD to change once the “secret” was out, but something about the writing and the pacing in the last part was so different that it just kinda threw me, like it was a different book. Near the end the scenes felt jolting, like things would go…then stop…then go again…then stop. Does that make sense? And no ugly crying for me. *pouts*
On the plus side, it gets points for mentioning manatees, Nutella and pork rinds. Oh, and a mouth orgasm from food…although I still prefer the term “mouthgasm.” 😉
Gah I wish I had some chile limon pork rinds right now…
Interesting perspective Amy… I’ll keep going and see where I end up.
Chile limon?? My mouth just watered…
How fun would that be…the 4th of July weekend with everyone from here?? Wish I was there with ya, too, Maryse! *more pouting*
I KNOW RIGHT!????
I am a HUGE fire cheetos, hot fries, Takis and anything chile-limon girl. ADDICTED to those flavors…
*pout* We could do a girls weekend… why do we always think of these things too late?
I’ve been able to walk away from Sloth too….not unputdownable which I was expecting…. I’m only at like 40%.
Ditto on Sloth, girls! I put it down too but I did hear the last 30% is the best part of the book. My bookies told me I have to finish it. BTW…FEARLESS was sooooooo good. It has a Cat Porter feel mixed with Madeline Sheehan grit.
That’s cool. I’m always a little disappointed when irl the cast doesn’t get along.
Oh Amy don’t do that you’d be in traction.
Maryse, is where the real manatees are. Always, way before the book, wanted to see one.
Not a spicy fan. Have you seen the corn on cob and watermelon with chile lime seasonings?
I had to put Sloth down at about 40% as well! I didn’t connect with the characters and did not like Kellan…. I did skim to the end though since I was curious about the twist and was kinda glad I didn’t finish it since I work in that setting and I was thinking to myself no way would that ever happen! Even though I know it’s fiction I usually avoid books taking place there!
I’m reading Ride Steady right now and loving it!!! Although I had a big cry fest about 12% in…. I don’t know if it’s hormones or what but I’m really connecting to the heroine 🙂
Still curious about Jezebel and Fearless sounds awesome!! I also picked up MILF by Erin Noelle since it was on sale 😉
Okay, so I just one-clicked 321, Fearless and Player… That will get me started for the weekend
Niki…. I LOVED Ride Steady, and get the tissues out!!!
Okay, so I’m not alone with Sloth. 😉
Ooooh Grey, you are just asking for it with that kind of request…you’re bound to get bombarded with recs now!! Maryse has started posting readers’ favorites lists on Saturdays…I can’t wait to see whose list is up next!
GIRLS WEEKEND!!!!! 😀
Wait, you mean it’s too late to get everyone together for this weekend?? *sigh* Guess we’ll just have to hang out here (next best thing ;)) in between July 4th festivities. *pout* <—— A lot of that going on today, lol!!
Now I'm REALLY intrigued with Fearless…a standalone biker book with 800 pages? How often do we get an MC story that is completed in ONE book?!?
Trying to finish Sloth, about half done. This is a weird one for me. There are some things that the author does that I am not a huge fan of. I will keep on truckin’ since so many raved about it. Not feeling it just yet.
3.2.1. – whoa! that was a seriously emotional one – I think I gave it 4 stars. I’d recommend it to the crowd that likes the dark-emotional reads.
After this, I am moving on the Acheron (dodging all the peanuts still) – because everyone is so shocked that I have never read it since I pimp out all the PNR…. LOL… not 100% sure I am in the mood for a long PNR like that, but what the heck…
Need to get to the store before they run out of hot dog buns
Just bought hot dog buns.
If I went to Florida I’d totally be at the Harry Potter rides, carrying around a wand and drinking butter beer.
Part of my festivities includes my 60 pound dog turning into a lap dog, lol.
Amy I totally Agree about Sloth the 3rd part of the book felt like a completely different book. I liked it but it didn’t go with the first two parts which was what irritated me the most.
Acheron is going to be an upcoming read for me as well, MichelleS…just one-clicked it. 😉 And I am *really* curious about your thoughts on Sloth once you have finished it.
Yep, Nicole…good to see I wasn’t the only one who felt that. Again, that’s one of the many things I love about this place. We’re not always in agreement about the same books but there is no mud slinging when that happens. 😀
Okay, work is done for the day, and now I’m off to read Lying in Wait. Here’s to (hopefully) getting some answers left from Jezebel!
Don’t forget the peanut butter with those hot dog buns ladies. ‘Cause Maryse says. 😉
Oh! And manatees, Bev…I saw a couple at an aquarium one time, and they were so big and adorable! I think they were kinda sad though, so it made me sad. 🙁
Whoot! Maryse went country on her Facebook today, lol.
Love talking music as much as book recs. Though never up on what’s new anymore, rarely listen to the radio anymore.
We should totally each throw out a country song. Anybody? We could have a weekend playlist. Old new anything. Wanna play?
Sure.
Play it Again by Luke Bryan
Reading Pure now, because all that talk about the Covenant series made me want tor re-read it. Still love Seth. 😛
I don’t know too many country songs, but I would have to say Come Wake Me Up by Rascal Flatts (if that counts).
Tessa! You and Fabi are killing me. Except…
AIDEN!!!!!!!
Tessa, you are always so game. 😀
That’s my bff favorite guy, lol.
Going old school here.

Country songs? hmm…. not a huge country fan, but I always LOVED that song by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw “It’s Your Love”. And I love “the Dance” by Garth Brooks. And “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” by Willie Nelson. Okay, go ahead and laugh at me now. I went to see Willie Nelson at a casino last year. LOL.
For all those that were not feeling Sloth, did you try King? I am STILL thinking about that one. WOWZA.
MichelleS, I’d mock those that mock for seeing him.;-)
I adore him and have seen him a few times. He always draws a large and diverse crowd. Fun to people watch a bit at his shows.
Only thought country cause Maryse put Little Big Town on FB.
I haven’t started my next read yet. I’m debating to see if I can try and read a book every day or two for the next week or so.
Ok, have to add one more cause I fell in love with it last year, but it’s a sad one.
Just Like Him~Brandy Clark

Very ambitious, Bev! I can accomplish that during my summer months off, but I end up getting nothing else done, and I swore I’d get somehting done this summer.
I adore Willie too. The tickets weren’t cheap and people watching was a lot of fun. Young, old, and everything in between. Old groupies were the best.
I didn’t enjoy Sloth as much as I WANTED to enjoy it. I guess it was built up to much….unrealistic expectations maybe. Oh, well.
Grr grabbed cover by mistake. Try again. Definitely listen to the actual artist.

MichelleS, he has some not so old ones too, lol. Cowboys, hippies, yuppies, & yes all ages. Not sure about indoor have only seen him outside venues so alot of smoke, lol..
You know who had some young college girls screaming for him? Bob Dylan, lol. I love him but slightly surprised. He drew a mixed crowd to. There were some young hippie kids dancing in the front row @ Dylan. Some guy yelled for them to sit down. They just turned around still dancing smiled and all no man get up and dance, lol.
Amy if you want a good gut punch book you should join MichelleS reading Acheron. It is brutal. TTM anyone?
Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood is $1.99. Usually $7.99. Julie Garwood & Judith McNaught were my go-to authors (and Sandra Brown & Nora Roberts) pre Kindle/Nook/ebooks/indies.
Just noticed that Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood, the book I commented about a few minutes ago, is #4 in the Amazon Bestseller List!! Really, really great read!!
TTM?
Hey all! It’s been a while since I’ve read a whole book – I collect tons of samples since I can’t afford all the books I want and I want SO many, hah! Plus life gets in the way and it’s so hard to find time sometimes…Anyway there are those times when I just can’t hold back and I have to have it now, lol. So I binge for a bit, then add more samples to my collection bc I’ll get to em someday. 😛 So I managed 2 this week and I loved them both! I started with Tiffany Snow’s Power Play. I loved her Kathleen Turner Series, didn’t care too much for the Tangled Ivy Series but I’ve only read the first. But Power Play sucked me in big time! I may even like it better than the Kathleen Turner series. Two swoon worthy guys and she manages to make me like both men in every triangle that it’s hard to choose, but I’d be happy with either. And it seemed like this one wasn’t so much thrown at you at once, more of a slow build I suppose – I can’t wait for #2 and I highly recommend this one! Then I immediately jumped into The Allure Of Julian Lefray by R.S Grey. I’ve read a cpl of her books and loved both of them. Of course the sample really sucked me in, it was laugh out loud funny and I couldn’t stop grinning. So I held my finger above the one click thinking should I or shouldn’t I? I felt guilty buying another so soon, but thought I should indulge myself, I deserve it! Lol, it’s a viscous r cycle. Then I saw the video the author made on her Facebook page and it sealed the deal. I’m so glad I did,, I had a perma-smile throughout! 5 stars, absolutely adored it! Sorry for the long rambling post, but it feels good to tell someone how much I liked them! 🙂 and thanks for all you do Maryse, your blog is my version of reading the newspaper everyday:)
Victoria Ashley just released Cale (Walk of Shame #3) a few days early!!! It’s LIVE!!!!!
Tessa,
TTM (The Tied Man) the most horrific book I’d ever read until LoA (Life of Anna)
*snort* 😐 Sorry Fabi. *turns head and snickers* Whoa, wait…Acheron is TTM type of disturbing?? Oh geez…
Lauren, good way to put it. 😕
Tasha, we are prone to gushing here so GUSH all you want to us!! 😀 That’s how we end up choosing so many great reads…Maryse’s lists and seeing different books get all kinds of love. By the way, if you have a Goodreads account then find me on there (Amy_NM). You can see the books I have purchased from Amazon, and I’ll be more than happy to loan you something!
It has elements of TTM but its so much more. More intense, more heart wrenching, more romance, more everything. Plus its paranormal, and for me, that makes a huge difference. I can read things in PNR that I’d rather not read in CR.
Alright, got it. It’s coming up soon for me. 😀
MichelleS, the only reason why I’m hesitating with King is the CH that it has. I *may* give in though, especially if I end up in a book funk sometime soon. It sounds like King might be worth it…
So…. Acheron is killing me. My throat hurts. I feel like it would be 10x more dramatic had I read the previous books where he must certainly be a total a$$ after all of THIS. Jeez…..
Amy – I still recommend King. Who cares about the CH. That story has enough in it to be a great read. Seriously.
I devoured Ride Easy, I just loved it and the writing so much. It was my first book by the author and now I’m afraid I’m going to go broke buying all the Rock Chick books and of course the other Chaos books.
Lol, so am I the only one who could not get into Acheron? And I read the majority of the preceding books.
Awww Bev, we all have that one weird one. Mine is BDB stories. I don’t get the love they get. Besides, you loved Zarek. He’s pretty awesome.
Michelle S, keep reading. *grins, hopping from one foot to the other* I absolutely love every heart wrenching moment of that book.
MichelleS I am so excited you are reading Acheron. It gets better and better. I swear every second of that book was delectable for me. Yes, you probably get a little more if you read the series, but I swear, and Tessa agrees, it really isnt necessary.
Bev, we ALL have one of those that everyone likes that for some reason doesn’t work for us. Believe me, I have one or two also. It always makes me feel like I’m missing something. But maybe its just one of those things.
Hi everyone! 🙂 I agree with Amy and the rest of you over her about Sloth. I got disappointed near the end and it was too slow for me. I have started Fragile by Shiloh Walker now. It seems soooo good 😉 I’m also waiting for the Pentagram child 2 by Stephanie Hudson!! (The Afterlife Saga). It’s being released the 15th of July 😉 *happy happy happy dance* Aaaand one more thing. I got married yesterday 😉 !!!!!! Just had to share it with you all, girls 🙂 Squeeeeeeee!!
I am so struggling with Sloth and I’ve never had a book I DNF. Ugh.
Country song, how about a new one, Girl Crush by Little Big Town. That song is hot and reminds me of a story from one of our books! As for old, anything Johnny Cash! I love anything Luke Bryan! He’s a hottie and shares my last name!!
Congratulations Marit!!!
Congratulations Marit!!!!!! 😀
*skips and tosses flower petals around Marit*
YAY Marit!!!!! Congratulations!! I wanna see pictures if you have them online. 🙂
*hug*
And for those that didn’t see my Facebook post…
here’s my country song that bev was talking about:
My current new favorite song ever. Thanks to another author for loving it and posting it. I’m now an addict. Whoever wrote these lyrics is a GENIUS. Little Big Town – Girl Crush —> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYZMT8otKdI
Congratulations Marit! *throws rice and begins happy dance*
Hey Jean!! Yay us! Same song. 🙂 *hug*
And to all of my American friends… Happy Independence Day!!! 😀 I love you guys.
Steph, I would say we could help you resist the temptation to one-click all those books buuuuttttt…we’re the worst here when it comes to encouraging one-clicking. Hey, at least you’re in like company!
I agree with Fabi and Tessa, Bev…sometimes we just don’t click with certain books. 😉
Aw Jean, that sucks…and it’s kind of a long one, too. 😕
Happy 4th everyone!
Congrats Marit!
So is it worth it for me to continue reading Sloth? Anyone? I need feedback!
Love that song Maryse! I’m a city girl with a country heart!
Maryse…happy (belated) Canada Day to you!! *big hug* Sorry I missed it on Wednesday. My friend who is from Canada reminded me about it yesterday when she told me how her 3-year-old was trying to wrap her head around being American but celebrating Canada Day, LOL!
Okay, I’m gonna say this about Sloth and hope I don’t sound too rotten…if it’s dragging for you guys now, it’s probably not going to get any better. At least that was how it was for *me*, especially near the end.
Happy 4th!! Not a big country fan, only song I can come up with is Clint Eastwood by Jessie James Decker, because hello her hottie husband is in the video & bonus she can sing!
Sloth was a slow start for me put it down and picked it back up again day later.
Nikki understand what you’re saying since I work in that area too, the author did address that saying she took certain liberties to make the story work better.
Congrats Marit!!!!
Tasha I read the Allure ofJulian Defray too and enjoyed it too. Light, fun read. Now I am in a book funk, which sucks since I’m on vacation & have time to read. Ugh! Although I promised Amy I would read Jezebel. Not sure why I am putting it off.
For me the books I haven’t clicked with (and I know I’m asking for a peanut blast) are KA books. Maybe I should give the latest book a try to see if it changes my mind.
Falling Down, the first book in the Rockstar series by Anne Mercier is free. Book #4, Interlude will be releasing July 9th.
Jean, I used to never dnf either. Like maybe two books in my entire looking reading life. But the best advice I got HERE about a year ago is that life is too short to spend it reading a book you don’t like. Indie books a whole new world. And we have such amazing tbr lists now, that it’s really a waste of time to stock with something that’s not working for you when you have hundreds of others waiting for your attention.
Cheryl, you’re not alone with KA. I like her books well enough I guess. I’ve only read one or two. For me, they’re too tame and the characters tend to be too old for my tastes. I always prefer YA/NA given the choice. And the grittier the better. :-/
Thanks for the feedback about Sloth guys….. Fabi, you are so right…too little time to waste on a book that is not doing it for you….. Think I will take a break and maybe go back to it later??
Now, what to start next…… Don’t even know what I’m in the mood for…..
Whatever you do – do NOT read “The Consequences of Loving Colton” in public. I could hold in giggles – but full on snort-laugh was not going to be subdued, and I did that a lot with this novel!
Oh Katherine, I love that title and you make it sound fun.
If any of you read Jezebel (which you SHOULD!) then you will definitely want to read the companion novella, Lying In Wait. Short but full of emotion. Can’t say more or I might give something away from Jezebel.
SOMEONE please read Jezebel!! (*ahem* Cheryl!) Pretty please? *flutters eyelashes* I can’t promise you’ll think it’s a 5-star read – or maybe you will – but y’all can’t leave me alone in my rumination of that ending.
Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July full of firecrackers, fireworks and lots of BBQ!! 😀
Katherine, I’m adding that one to the funny book collection on my Kindle app (right where Virgin Romance Novelist is *still* waiting for me)…I think I might have to take your comment and use it to rename that collection “snort-laugh books”. 😉
Marit! Congratulations!
Now I’m all nosey and want to hear deets. Your dress, your music, etc, lol.
Cheryl, Fabi I love KA but totally get she is not for everyone. I’m curious about what one’s you have tried.
Fabi, I used to be like that, lol. Old people and romance!=-O Now in mid thirties, well I’m not young, lol. I like that she writes these heroines who still change and find such happiness in their 30/40s. Plus in real life 20 year old guys…….kind of loud and annoying, lol.
Ooo Amy, I have Jezebel. downloaded it the first day it came out…..maybe I’ll read that next.
You guys!! Thank you 😉 Biiiig GROUP HUG! 🙂 You will not believe this, but we did it in all secret. Nobody knew and then we postet a picture on Facebook and said ” Just got married” 😉 Haha! We didn’t want a big wedding with lots of attention and stuff, so we did it very simple. Just search me up on Facebook “Marit Solheim” if you want to see my profile picture of us 😉
Huh…Bev, I had to go look in both my Nook and Kindle to see which KA books I’ve read. And…omg…the only one I have…and have not read…is Knight. I totally had her confused with another author.
But I do really prefer the younger MCs. I’m older than you, but I like to read about people who still have all their hopes and dreams and entire lives ahead of them.
I was also one of the favorite Moms when my kids were teens. I’ve always enjoyed young adults more so than the younger children. Maybe that’s why I’ve never taught any grades younger than high school. I find it easier to communicate with children when they are closer to adulthood.
Ok..sorry..wayyyy off topic.. Only shocked that I haven’t read a single KA yet and explaining why I probably haven’t is her characters aren’t usually youngins learning about life.
Fabi!!! You need to add Knight to your tbr!! It’s one of my favorite KA books and I loved that it was different from her other books!! I think the heroine is in her 20’s….Oh and that advice you posted is so true!! 🙂
Congrats Marit!! That is awesome news!!! Happy 4th to you ladies!!!
Happy 4th everyone!!!! Congrats Marit!!! If I could go back, I’d totally do it secretly like that
Ride Steady was Awe-Some!!! Perfect KA book. Chaos just keeps getting better and better! 😉
Marit, that sounds like a perfect way to do it. 😀
You all, MichelleS’s favorites are up. It’s a fun list.
Fabi, I’ve liked only two of KA’s so far. I haven’t read Knight, but I liked Golden Dynasty and Motorcycle Man. That’s it so far.
“All their hopes and dreams and entire lives ahead of them” ….Amy pass me a drink. A strong one.;-)
Fabi, Sweet Dreams is probably my favorite of hers. Definitely my favorite KA hero. But it is older H&h. Which is why I hesitated to read it for awhile, but one that changed my thoughts on it too. I know Maryse has a review up. If I ever do a favorite list I should put that one so you’d add it to your challenge.;-) I always find it interesting our likes and dislikes. What makes us go “Yes, I want that book” vs. “Eh, not for me.”
Own the Wind & Ride Steady the MCs are in their twenties. I think I like Own the Wind a bit more. But again she will not appeal to everyone. She has a very distinct style that doesn’t work for everyone.
Have E&P? Teens and bitter sweet but hopeful too. And yes I stick a mention in when ever I can.
Happy 4th of July to you all from across the pond!!!
Speaking of said pond if you all have girls night out Amy it should totally turn into a trip to Scotland and I can come yay!! If not you know just get maryse to take her iPad and I can be like Sheldon and just be there via FaceTime 😀 bazinga!
Also,
Malevolent (The Darkness Series Book 1) by Cassia Brightmore is free,
Torn by Christine Hughes is free
Token Huntress by Kia Carrington-Russell is free
See, I’d swear I’ve read Golden Dynasty. It was one of MichelleSs RECs. Grrr I gotta figure this out.
Thanks for the freebies Tessa.
There is a book I saw mention of somewhere. It sounded good but way to much $$. Anyway just saw it is on sale, All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Love the cover.
No prob. 🙂
OMG, Bev, was reading back. Yes, give us a list of your faves. We want to know!
Fabi, Golden Dynasty is definitely a type. Each of like what we like or don’t like for a reason. 🙂
Tessa, just being lazy. 😉
Need to shuffle through my memory, write it down.
Very curious to see yours.
KA books. I’ve read The Gamble, Motorcycle Man, Mystery Man, and Golden Dynasty, which was way different for KA and I loved that one. I have to really be in the mood for KA. Her books are long and very detailed, not that that is always a bad thing.
“Amy pass me a drink”. Haaaa Bev!!! I’m wayyy older than you.
I definitely read Golden Dynasty. I think MichelleS loaned it to me which is why I don’t have it in my Kindle or Nook. I loved it! But I remember Michelle saying it was the only one of that type by KA. I do have Knight, so I’ll move it up in my tbr.
Bev, lazy is good. I would’ve been overwhelmed, but that’s why I joined Goodreads. Do you know how many books I’ve read and forgotten I’ve read? Yeah, that many.
My list is nutty. No reason given, and I refuse to call a book a favorite unless it’s been a year since I first read it. Bright Side isn’t on it just for that reason. It hasn’t been a year. See, nutty!
Tell me about Knight. I could give another a try.
I just read The Consequences of Loving Colton. Different from what I thought regarding love triangle. No angst, just pure laugh out loud, at times over the top hilarious!! Now maybe Jezebel…
I’ve read Sweet Dreams & The Will by KA. I liked The Will, but felt Sweet Dreams dragged out. Don’t mind the older H/h.
Author for Archer’s Voice and Becoming Calder are not by Mia Asher. They’re by Mia Sheridan. And Finding Eden and Kyland too.
*looks at clock* It’s still the 4th of July here so…
*hands firecracker martini to Bev* Cheers!
Golden Dynasty!!!!!!!!!!! 😀
I just finished 321…. I LOVED IT!!! I didn’t want to put it down, so if you’re wavering on whether to one-click it… JUST DO IT!!! It’s not going to appeal to everyone, so be warned
Maryse/Girls…. What series is Sasha from in Wasted Lust (321 Spinoff)
The Ford books.
Ok Amy I started Jezebel. I’m at 50%. Interesting…names, initials, working together, smoking cigarettes like a chimney. Makes me think I have this figured out, but with the gasp-worthy wtf’s I’d say it’s not that simple.
Cheryl, you’re reading Jezebel!! I had stuff figured out pretty quick and was right about it, but then… *squeals and bites pillow* And don’t forget the novella. Maybe not ALL of my questions were answered, but enough were to leave me satisfied.
Oh Jeeeeaaannn…ya reading Jezebel yet? Huh? Are ya?? ‘Cause I have a peanut with your name on it. 😛
Ok Amy I finished Jezebel and was right about what I thought, BUT I did not see that ending!!!! WTF is right. Oh I have so many unanswered questions. I am starting the novella now. Maybe I’ll PM you on Goodreads when I’m done and we can “discuss” this mind-f@ck!!!
Cheryl, right?!? See why I was reeling? Yes, definitely PM me on GR otherwise we’re gonna end up spoiling it, and this one HAS to be experienced without any spoilers!!
I think I actually liked in the novella how just enough was answered but not everything…sometimes if an author tries to explain *everything*, things end up being a little ridiculous, ya know?
Read The Professional. It needed more story for me.
Almost half way through Omens. Long book but reading through Omens. Its a little jarring at first as things happen fast, but I think there is a reason for it. I’m really liking it but it kinda creeped me out last night, lol. Do not take that to mean it will be scary for you as I’m a total wimp.
That’s supposed to be reading through it fast.
