<— SATURDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! One of my recent 4.5 stars favorites (How to Save a Life by Emma Scott) is super-bargain priced right now!! (my review)
ALSO SUPER-BARGAIN PRICED (add-ons!!)
- When We Collide by A.L. Jackson <— super-bargain priced
- The Heart (The Reluctant Romantics Book 2) by Kate Stewart <— JUST WENT LIVE TODAY!
- Our Favorite Days (My Favorite Mistake, Book Three) by Chelsea M. Cameron <— JUST WENT LIVE TODAY!
Happy Friday to us ’cause a few highly anticipated books just went LIVE today. Plus! The recommendations and bargain finds have come my way in droves over the last couple of days. Lots of dark-romance reads, including a few that I know are going to creep me out big time, and so of course I one-clicked ’em (and bonus? They’re bargain priced). YAY ME and my creepy-book love. LOL!!!
But I’m still adding to this list ’cause it’s a bit too dark-read-focused right now, and I want to add some angsty-romance and funny ones, too. No worries, the recommendations are plentiful and I’m still adding ’em so keep checking back (or let me know in the comments if you have a tried and true recommendation for us).
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK to bev and Fabi!!!! 😀
P.P.S. I’m on Instagram. Well I’ve been on there for awhile, LOL! But I’m posting funny pics of me ‘n Pim (my minpin puppy) and… books! She hates photos, but too bad. She’s too cute and I take her picture anyway. 😉
JUST WENT LIVE!!
- Broken Girl by Gretchen de la O <— SHE’S A PROSTITUTE ALERT! “When fate brings us face to face, an undeniable attraction blazes between us. He becomes the constant I’ve never had and the only man I’ll ever trust. There is nothing simple about falling in love when you’re keeping a secret like mine…”
Chloe (Made Men Book 3) by Sarah Brianne <— MAFIA ROMANCE LOVERS!!! THIS JUST WENT LIVE A FEW MINUTES AGO!!! Tasha found it for us!! “For lovers of mafia reads and those who loved Nero, Sarah Brianne just announced that she hit publish on Chloe (Made Men #3), so hopefully we’ll get it in a few hrs!!! Yay!!
She posted a warning on her fb page to explain a little about the cliffy and no spoilers as it is going to be a two book thing BUT we Will know who she chooses in this book, Lucca or Amo?!! Ahh it’s gonna be super angsty goodness
lol“
Stone (Walk Of Shame 2nd Generation #1) by Victoria Ashley <— JUST WENT LIVE!!! HE’S A MALE STRIPPER & SHE’S HIS ROOMMATE ALERT! “…there’s only one girl that I can’t get out of my f**king head. Especially since she’s my damn roommate…“
- Gripped: A Prescott Novel (Prescott Series Book 2) by Joanne Schwehm <— HE’S A GOLF STAR! “…she set out to change her future and is finally putting herself first. Never in her wildest imagination did she think she’d fall for a man with stunning good looks and sex seeping from his pores. And, oh yeah, he plays golf…”
Uninvited: Fate #7 by Elizabeth Reyes <— JUST WENT LIVE!!! SO IN LOVE UNTIL A BRUTAL BETRAYAL ALERT! Two strangers stranded in a snow storm together… but things are sparking between them… “As their relationship back in the real world intensifies, nothing surprises Nathan anymore. Not how fast things move between them nor even their talk of moving in together. Surrounded by friends and family who are all for the relationship despite it moving at lightning speed, Nathan couldn’t be surer that what he’s feeling for Aiyanna is the real deal. Things between them couldn’t be more perfect. Until the unspeakable happens. Could their love survive the most brutal of betrayals, especially when there’s no denying it?“
- Compelled: A Cyn and Raphael Novella (Vampires in America 10.5) by D. B. Reynolds
- Assessing Survival (Mechanical Advantage Book 1) by Viola Grace <— SCI-FI
1983: Cruel Summer (Love in the 80s: A New Adult Mix Book 4) by Amber Lynn Natusch <— I AM LOVING THE PREMISE OF THIS SERIES!!! I need to read these sweet-sounding, fun-looking “shorts”. Each one written by a popular author, all about life and love in the 80’s. So clever and the covers and titles of each book are perfect! “She passed on a European vacation with her parents, choosing instead to spend an amazing summer with her boyfriend. But that plan changed when she walked in on him and another woman. Now Izzy’s stuck in a town she’s avoided since high school…“
- Leave a Mark by Stephanie Fournet <— OPPOSITES ATTRACT! She’s a tattoo artist & he’s a doctor… “Wren knows the good doctor is way out of her league. To people like him, she’s a circus freak…”
Hummingbird by Kasey Millstead <— SHE’S BULLIED & HE HAS A SECRET ALERT! “Xander Duke wasn’t planning on talking to the girl he found sitting by herself in the library that lunchtime. But something about her drew him right in and he couldn’t stop himself from wanting to find out all about her. As Belle learns to trust Xander, he refrains from exposing a secret that will tear her scarred heart wide open...”
- Summer at the Comfort Food Cafe: A funny, heartwarming and feel good summer romance by Debbie Johnson <— WIDOW STARTS OVER… “Laura knows that it’s time to move on. To find a way to live without him, instead of just surviving. To find her new place in the world, and to fill the gap that he’s left in all their lives. Her new job at the cafe, and the hilarious people she meets there, give Laura the chance she needs to make new friends; to learn to be herself again, and – just possibly – to learn to love again as well.“
FIVE-STAR READER RECOMMENDATIONS (and bargain finds!) (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
Lost by Ker Dukey & D.H SIDEBOTTOM <— DARK READ AUTHORS ALERT!! Stephanie found this super-bargain for us saying: “I loved Ker Dukey’s Empathy Series! And this blurb sounds oh-so-good! It’s described as being dark, gritty, and suspenseful! A standalone.” HER SISTER IS MISSING… “The world is a depraved place, full of evil lurking behind normality. Behind smiles. Behind deception and facades. She needs me and I will do whatever it takes to find her.”
- Eligible: A modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Curtis Sittenfeld <— LAUGH-OUT-LOUD FUNNY ALERT! ASHLEY RECOMMENDS IT! “If anyone enjoyed Pride and Prejudice even slightly I cannot recommend ‘Eligible’ highly enough. It is extremely clever and well written – I was actually laughing out loud!”
- Ginger’s Heart (a modern fairytale) by Kate Regnery <— MUCH LOVED SERIES/RECENT RELEASE!!! Nancy found this recent release super bargain priced!! “I just now saw that Ginger’s Heart by Katy Regnery is on sale… for this weekend only. If anyone missed out on this emotional read now is the chance to read for this bargain price.”
Vampire Girl by Karpov Kinrade <— TWILIGHT LOVERS/OUTLANDER LOVERS ALERT!?! THIS RECENT RELEASE KEEPS POPPING UP IN MY FEED and the reviews (almost 250 of ’em!!) are INCREDIBLE!!!! Soooooo many 5 star reviews (mostly all) and it just came out this month! SO yeah… I need to know more! Her dying mom made a deal with the devil, and he’s here to collect HER daughter… “I signed my soul away and promised to pick a prince to marry. I would take the blood oath, become one of them, and give them an heir. I would become a princess of hell, and my mother would live. I expected fire and brimstone. I expected pain and misery. I didn’t expect beauty. I didn’t expect magic. I didn’t expect love. But the princes are keeping secrets from me.”
Cristina: I read Vampire Girl last week and it was awesome! The authors do a clever job of taking the vampire angle in a new direction. I’ve always loved a good vampire story line, but the trick is to keep it fresh for readers. Our heroine makes a deal with the Princes of Hell and is sent to live in Hell to carry out her contract. She has to pick a Prince to marry and produce an heir. The Prince that she chooses to marry will become the new King of Hell. To aide in making this choice, she is to spend one month with each Prince before she makes her final decision. What made it so cool is each of the Princes represents one of the seven deadly sins (lust, pride, gluttony, etc.). Hell is divided into realms (based on these sins) and each Prince rules his own realm. This book is just the beginning of what I think will be a fantastic series! Each book is NOT a stand alone so there is a CH. I highly recommend if you’re in the mood for paranormal!!
- My Commander (Bewitched and Bewildered Book 1) by Alanea Alder <— Grace and Ela are ALL OVER this one!
Ela: YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS PNR IS THE NEXT EPIC READ/SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bewitched and Bewildered SERIES BY Alanea Alder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM CRACKING THE ‘EF UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grace: I totally get why Ela was screaming about My Commander – Bewitched and Bewildered Series by Alanea Alder. The book is hysterical, but not just that. It’s amusing all the way through so the smile stays on your face throughout the entire book. There are times you are gut busting belly laughing, and then times when it’s so lovely I found myself crying, but good crying, happy crying, touching moment kind of crying. Then back to laughing. The paranormal world she creates is great. The story is great. The characters are really great. The sexy times are great. Listen to Ela! Read it! She was so right! I also highly recommend it if you are coming off of something really angsty and full of tension and need to recover a bit. I’ve moved on to the second book and it’s just what I wanted too. New lead characters for the love story, but all the old ones are there being themselves, which we’ve already established is them being really great!
- The Surrender Your Love Trilogy: Surrender Your Love, Conquer Your Love, Treasure Your Love by J.C. Reed <— SUPER-BARGAIN TRILOGY BUNDLE!! HER BOSS!!! “…When she’s sent to a remote estate to finalize a real estate deal, she discovers her new boss is no other than the guy she left naked in bed…“
- Sold Into Salvation by Colbie Carter <— SHE’S KIDNAPPED & SOLD AS A SEX SLAVE ALERT! Another super-bargain priced one found by Stpehanie (she’s on a dark subject roll today!) “...she takes a vacation halfway across the world to visit her father who is living in Romania, her tightly-stitched world is ripped apart at the seams when she is snatched into the sex trade, and sold at auction. But being bought turned out to be her salvation…“
Lincoln Hospital (Trauma Series Book 1) by Cassia Brightmore <— VIGILANTE DOCTORS ALERT!! YIKES! Ohhhh sounds very dark and I totally one-clicked it. “A doctor wielding a deadly blade. An intern caught in the midst of first love and a lethal web of murder. Lincoln Hospital. Where the cure can be your worst nightmare…“
- The Fighter (The High Rise Book 1) by Harper Bentley <— MMA FIGHTER ALERT (WOW THAT COVER!!) The recently released new neighbor jerk-face is super-bargain priced today.
- Razorblade Kisses by R.L. Griffin <— AUTHOR HAS AN ENTICING WARNING! Nancy found us this one bargain-priced! The book cover doesn’t do much for me, and I have NO idea from the blurb, what it all means, but the author’s warning is certainly enticing! “…she doesn’t know who she is, she tried to run, to hide and make a life for herself, but that backfired. No one knows her except her best friend Rachel, if that’s even an adequate word for what they are to each other. Rachel helps her build a life for herself below the radar, which is fine until the unthinkable happens knocking Em out of her unfeeling cocoon…” AMY LOVED IT, GUYS!!!
Amy: OMG! OMG! OOOOO. MMMMM. GGGGG!!!!!!! Razorblade Kisses!!! That book was a gut wringer! If I had any complaints I can’t remember ‘em, I only remember being worked over by it. MARYSE!! If you feel like taking a chance on my memory then RK is your next read. Because I said so. M’kay? M’kay.
- As it Seems by Jayne Conway <— MARRIED & HAPPY BUT… “After all these years, they are passionately in love, two of the lucky few – or so Libby believes – until one snowy evening, the unthinkable happens. And she learns… nothing is as it seems.” Nancy found us this one at a bargain priced and it sounds SO good!!
Life Interrupted by Yessi Smith <— DARK READ ALERT?!! SHE’S ESCAPING FROM HIM… “I escape again and start fresh on a small island, where there aren’t any expectations to fulfill. Where family and friends I don’t remember can’t look at me with sadness and disappointment. And when Travis Keillar comes into my life everything changes. The memories I’ve lost become unimportant to the memories I’m creating with him.” and then HE comes back for her… *gasp*!! Nancy also found us this one super-bargain priced. Thank you Nancy! It sounds crazy!!
- Deeper: A Novel (Caroline & West Book 1) by Robin York <— bev found us this oldie-but-goodie on super-sale!!! I loved it too! She says: “Deeper by Robin York… You all know how I LOVE this book. Here’s my review!!!
If you haven’t Read it.” - Bully: The Fall Away Series by Penelope Douglas <— BULLY ALERT! One of our absolute favorites (so good!), and an oldie-but-goodie, but the reason I’m putting this one back on, is because I want to put book #2 back on this list also. Some here were raving about last week, so a few jumped in, and now it’s is getting even MORE raves this week. Yep. So if you missed these, I’m thinking you MUST READ THESE (I still need to read #2 and the way the girls are going on about it, YIKES. I’m gonna be in a delightful book fog!!! (my review of “Bully”)
Until You: The Fall Away Series by Penelope Douglas <— BACK ON THE LIST, ‘CAUSE THIS IS THE ONE MAKING EVERYONE SQUEE RIGHT NOW!!
Grey: My favorite book quote ever came from Until You… god, this book… wrecked me. FLove it!!!
Jean: GREY! I SERIOUSLY LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW! I AM FREAKING OUT OVER UNTIL YOU!!! You were so right that it is a totally different story than Tate’s in Bully. I could not stop reading and stupid work is getting in my way today! I just want to get back to it asap! My heart is aching for Jared….I love him! Love him! I definitely see a book fog coming after this one! Anyone who has not read Bully and Until You, GET ON IT NOW!
Grey: It’s ok. I just get super excited about it when someone wants to read one of my all time book faves. Jean!!! I’m so thrilled you’re loving it!! Maryse, you should be next, you and Grace could buddy read!! *tra la la*
Tessa: OMG, Maryse! I re-read your review of Bully, and you asked some seriously needed to know questions that Until You answered. Oh, and looking back, that review was why I read the book to begin with.
And! It was the first review I read on here.
Jean: Tessa, I have to go back and read Maryse’s Bully review. Seriously, I can’t even think about starting another book right now. Until You left me in such a state…..I just loved it so much!!!!!
Maryse: You guys, I’m so excited about your recent book love. Now I’m back to squirreling. I thought I had my next one all picked out… *sigh*
Jean: I don’t want to leave this book! I want it to last forever……I could get lost in it forever! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!! …We really need to get Maryse to read Until You. I noticed she did read and review Bully, but there’s just no comparison!
Grey: The order of books for the the Falling Away series is #1 Bully, #2 Until You, #3 Rival, #4 Falling Away, #5 Aflame. Obviously, my number one in this series is Until You… I liked ALL of them. Honestly all of them, but Jared’s book was my favorite.
Jean: Ugh Maryse! I know the feeling! But please read Until You! You won’t be disappointed!
Grey: Incoming *tosses peanut* Come on Maryse… all the cool kids are doing it *giggle* is it too early for this kind of innuendo… UNTIL YOU!!!!

Oooh, dark reads. I’m feeling particularly dark and twisty today. So hmmm, but I don’t know, Tapping the Billionaire looks pretty amazing!!
Thank you as always Maryse for rocking the blog!
I looked up Swear On This Life by Renee Carlino and Amazon says the book is to be released August 9. I was looking forward to this as I am all her books. Oh well, gives me something to look forward to in August.
GAH!!! Thank you Shirley. Let me move it out of here. LOL!
YAY Grey!!!! And thank you for recommending the awesome ones!
I saw a PNR boxed set on sale for .99. I’m not familiar with the series but it sounds like a great deal for when that PNR bug hits and we need a fix.
The Order Boxed Set Kindle Edition
by Nina Croft
The Huntress by Michelle O’Leary is free today. Like all of Michelle’s books, it’s a sci-fi romance with a strong heroine, a compelling romance, and is a very fun read.
I’ve been MIA for a bit now. We had some sickness go through our house and work has been CRAZY! Anywho…
I read Vampire Girl last week and it was awesome! Each book is NOT a stand alone so there is a CH. I highly recommend if you’re in the mood for paranormal!!
YAY!!! Thank you Cristina for telling us. I am TOTALLY squirreling right now. I have NO idea what I want to read today. Too many awesome looking options…
Thank you Laura. That one sounds really good.
I just discovered Renee Carlino and holy crap. TBR order changing yet again…
And Hi everybody. Been under a rock with a stack of books! And happy b-day Bev & Fabi!
R. Renee that is the perfect place to be. 🙂
Thank you Laura and Fabi!! 😀
Yep My Commander…’nuf said!
For lovers of mafia reads and those who loved Nero, Sarah Brianne just announced that she hit publish on Chloe (Made Men #3), so hopefully we’ll get it in a few hrs!!! Yay!! 🙂 She posted a warning on her fb page to explain a little about the cliffy and no spoilers as it is going to be a two book thing BUT we Will know who she chooses in this book, Lucca or Amo?!! Ahh it’s gonna be super angsty goodness 😀 lol
Oh let’s stalk it Tasha!!!
I’m so one clicking The Vampire girl…. Sounds so good and it’s been a while since I’ve read a paranormal. And Maryse… I know it’s a little late but I just read a book that was just so much fun…. It’s called ” The Slam” by Haleigh Lovell… the heroine has a form of autism called Asperger’s syndrome but I would still put her in the category of a kick ass heroine. This book is one of the funniest books ever…. I was lol throughout the whole book…like I said just pure fun!!!!!
I’m so on it Maryse! Lol I’m a little book overwhelmed right now, but in a good way. There’s this great list and the Vampire Girl looks so good and Chloe’s coming out and The Court of Mist and Fury which I’ve been anticipating forever but I have like 5 books out on loan right now. Seriously wait for months and they all come at once. I’m racing the clock on Thanks For the Trouble. Halfway through and goes back in 2 days, it’s a quick-ish read so I think I can do it. Haha. And then The Passage, The 5th Wave, The Lie by Karina Halle and Caged by Amber Lynn Natusch
It’s live it’s live!! Chloe is live! So I’m just gonna read the sample…just to hold me over……
YAY!!! Okay lemme find it. 😀
Okay, one of the books from the library was the final (for real this time) book of the Heroes of Olympus. To really say how twisted the author is, this is his dedication:
To my wonderful readers,
Sorry for that apology for that last cliffhanger.
I’ll try to avoid cliffhangers in this book.
Well, except for maybe a few small ones…
because I love you guys.
*begins snickering* Trials of Apollo, book one comes out tomorrow, so that just makes me grin more.
LOL!!!!!!
Twisted authors are fun! 😛
Ginger’s Heart (A Modern Fairytale) by Katy Regnery is $.99 for a few days only, down from $4.99.
OMG Maryse, I never posted the quote that is my favorite-ist book quote ever! Wow, talk about love-fog, and to be entirely truthful, it isn’t sappy or sweet, as much as pretzel tummy, angsty, and devastatingly heart piercing. You know, In case you want to add it, *oopsie* Sorry about that!
“I didn’t forget to breathe. I just didn’t want to anymore.” Until You by Penelope Douglas. READ IT!!!
Oh WOW Grey. That is poignant.
Thank you Lauren!! I posted it. 😀
OMG! OMG! OOOOO. MMMMM. GGGGG!!!!!!! Razorblade Kisses!!!
That book was a gut wringer! If I had any complaints I can’t remember ’em, I only remember being worked over by it.
MARYSE!! If you feel like taking a chance on my memory then RK is your next read. Because I said so. M’kay? M’kay. 😉
Okay, now that I’m done overreacting…
Broken Girl, Hummingbird, and Vampire Girl are all immediate clicks for me. 😀
By the way, I am in love with that pic of you and Pim up there. The way that sweetheart is looking at you…oh, my heart. It’s precious.
She’s so adorable in it, isn’t she??? I love her sweet face.
And now I’m REALLy looking at Razorblades Kisses!!!
I just remember SO many different emotions with Razorblade Kisses, from infuriation at the beginning and then feeling euphoric and then heartache and then some bittersweet was thrown in and then there was… *sigh* I really wish I kept notes about the books I’ve read on my spreadsheet. 😕
Vampire Girl sounds good. Will check that out. I looked at Gripped on amazon, because I like a good sports star romance and thought a golfer might be a bit different. Thought I’d share the first sentence of the amazon description just cos it made me laugh.
‘Dane Prescott spends his days staring at perfect holes, and knows how to use his stiff shaft to get there.’
Hmmm. Don’t think I’ll be going there.
STILL reading the NOLA series. It’s good, but gah, I hate how reading a series takes over my reading and commenting time and looking at new books and squirreling!!!!!
Razorblade Kisses, huh?going to look that one up…
Ipsy May spoiler!!!
Glamglow mud clearing thingie is one of the possible thingies. I hope I get it. 😀 And the makeup bag has a snap (looks like an envelope).
P.S. I’m using EVERYTHING out of my last kit. I love it!
So pitiful….I have no clue as to what I want to read on a Friday night! I just know I want a good alpha hottie book. My two day headache does not help.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK FABI and BEV!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Urban Decay lipstick, Smashbox mascara… okay some nice potentials!!!
Eeek. Razorblades Kisses looks a bit too gritty for me. I know author warnings are often there to just sell the book (lol) but in this case I think I’ll take the warning. ‘possible scenarios that may be difficult for some readers to take…’ Yeh, I think I’m that reader. Even the title is too scary for me :-/ I know. I’m a wimp. (I don’t care.)
Maryse I just got the Glamglow at Sephora with my rewards point. Plan to try it this weekend.
AND Pim is so dang ADORABLE!!!
Jan130 that warning is pretty intense!!!
Cheryl… let me know what you think of it. And which one you have if you love it.
And yes… my sweet Pimmie is my heart!!
I’m not too terribly thrilled with some of the upcoming (already released?) MAC collections…Chris Chang, Vibe Tribe, Trolls. Yes, TROLLS. As in those evil Troll dolls that freak me out. What the hell man.
*takes a gulp of blackberry martini*
And now Maryse has me all worked up for my May Ipsy bag. I’m gonna check my email for the “spoiler” link.
*takes another gulp of blackberry martini*
Blech.
*spits seed into napkin*
On a fun note, my Sephora order is supposed to come in tomorrow with my new Tarte lip crayons!!! *happy lippie dance*
It’s Friday night…do you know where your buzz is at? I DO!!!! Right here!!!!!
You guys drink better cocktails than I do. I should step it up…
Hi *waves* remember me? I’ve missed a lot of posts :O Been busy but still reading in between and when I’ve been so tired that I can’t even sleep…does this craziness happen to anyone else?!
Read Vampire Girl on a rec and it was good. Nothing omigod but I want to read the next book to see what happens. Yesssss My Commander love finally! I read all five books recently and laughed until I cried in all of them. There is a store scene with hilarity ensuing in each book. What I really liked was that Meryn and all the characters carry over into each book and it doesn’t just focus on the new couple. They were such fun books – book 6 out in June 😀
Has there been a hot book that everyone is raving over in the last two weeks that I’ve missed? I need to backtrack a little…
Ok just finished Thanks For the Trouble by Tommy Wallach and it was awesome! This was totally a book I know you guys would love but I don’t really know how to explain it to you without giving anything away. And this is one I think is best to go into blind, just like I did. Well I read the blurb and it left me really intrigued but didn’t tell me much of anything. So what I will tell you is its written through Parker, the mc, as a college admissions essay. Parker hasn’t spoken for 5 years and he’s sort of this high school recluse and he meets this girl, Zelda, who is wise beyond her years. And what happens there on out is fun, and has this air of mystery, and adventure, it’s emotional and heartbreaking and heart lifting and really just makes you think. And also loved the side characters as well. Totally has a John Green esque feeling to it, definitely read this book and go in blind! 😉
Oh R, we can HOOK GOU UP. We love martinis and cocktails and wine and shots around here. 😀
What the fu…where the heck was my autocorrect when I needed it?? Hook YOU up I meant.
Amy, you are my people…
*cheers* she toasts with boring red wine lol…
Tasha…I’m not much of a fan of male-POV books (except in certain strorylines) but there are a bunch here who would love it. But I’ll hug you in thanks anyway since I’m all kinds of huggy tonight!!!!
Michelle!!!! *runs and tackles Michelle to the ground in a hug*
Hey! Red wine is NEVER boring!!! In fact I’ll just have a sip of that red wine… 😛
*passes bendy straw*
*lays on ground dazed and covered in blackberry martini*
Michelle, is it Thursday? I think that’s the first line of the book I’m reading.
*sips wine from R’s bendy straw* Yes!! GOOD stuff!!!
*low crawls over to Michelle while trying to hold R’s wine off the floor* Here, try this…might as well be drunk if you’re gonna be dazed!! 😛
Haha thanks Amy, though I’m not much of a hugger *pats back awkwardly* I am grateful for the affection anyway 😛 And that’s ok, we all have our likes and dislikes. It was a sort of unique read, my Mom had read it first and so I gave it a go and at like 30% is when I really became more invested and kind of *what the….* simply bc not what I expected and not something my Mom usually reads lol. Not that I wasn’t invested before just not where I thought the story would go. As if that wasn’t vague enough. Lol, can I ask what you don’t like about the male pov? Just out of curiousity
I’m not that talented even with a bendy straw! “Amy, watch out…” *still on ground covered in blackberry martini and now R’s wine*
*rolls on floor cackling and pointing at Michelle*
Oh crap Tasha…I didn’t know. 😕 Bev is not a hugger either. I’ll give ya your space. Right after…THIS!! *cheek smooches Tasha and crawls back over to an alcohol-soaked Michelle*
Maybe this is Amy.

*wipes cheek while blushing furiously. Quickly looks around- did anybody see that?!*
…except it would be with hazel-green eyes. 😉
And the eyes around here see ALLLLLL Tasha!
LOL!!!!!!! You guys are hilarious.
*snuggles Tasha ’cause she hates that*
*hands Tasha a blackberry martini*
*whooooops… pulls it back for a sip or three first*
Here ya go Tasha. 🙂
You know who’s a hugger, Amy?
Sherlock.
*snort* 😛
*side-eyes bev*
JUST finished Dangerous Girls. Like, 30 seconds ago.
*screams in pillow*
Jaw-dropping, just like you said Maryse. BUT not because I was blindsided but because I kept going back and forth, so sure what was going on but then the whole devil’s advocate style of writing and back and forth and back and forth and I can’t be right but maybe I am but there’s no way and why am I overthinking it and my heart hurts SO much for Anna and those a$$hats who testified are horrible and maybe Elise brought it on herself and it could have been *that* person or it could have been *this* person but maybe…and then BAM!!!!
*screams in pillow and kicks legs*
5 FREAKING STARS!!!!!!
*gasp* Sherlock is a hugger??
*runs towards TV and tries to hug it*
*bonks head*
Hey…*rubs head*…no he ISN’T a hugger… 😕
Ok someone give me the deets on Sherlock….not a huge tv watcher since I have my books to read….but I am a huge hugger!
Happily settled on a BULLY book last night…..NERO!!!!
LOL AMY!!!!!
I KNOW RIGHT??? RIGHT??????!!!! So clever and all shivery-inducing.
Ooooooooooh yeahhhhhhhh 😀
*places a bag of peas on the knot Sherlock gave Amy*
DG… we really aren’t sure yet, as bev is the only one that knows about him, here. bev… and someone else.
They were discussing it, and bev REALLY wants us to watch it. She’s pretty clever with her hint-dropping in fact.
And then I asked our Facebook crew if they watched Sherlock and a ton of ’em said yes and it’s SO good.
AWWWW I missed all the alcohol induced shenanigans around here!!! 😉
Sherlock is definitely NOT a hugger. Sherlock describes himself as “a high-functioning sociopath” in the first episode and he probably has Aspergers. I do watch it and it’s beyond good. Movie-esque type episodes- there are only 3- 90 minute episodes per season and the seasons come every 1-2 years.
Waves back to Michelle. I have felt the same way- busy with crazy RL and missing posts/comments.
Maryse the GlamGlow I have is the gravitymud firming treatment. Hopefully it lives up to it’s name. I’ll let you know. 🙂
So I am guessing it has a great STORYline…..might have to google this Sherlock….
It has a wonderful storyline.
Cheryl, have you watched the last season?
Amy. I told you so. Dangerous girls was sooo good. You, Maryse and I can sit in our 5 star bubble and just love it together!
Finished I’ll Meet You There. I loved it.
Now off to RL and then decide what I’d next.
Sherlock a hugger? *snorts* The very antithesis, one might say (if one were being formal, which one isn’t). Cheryl’s description hits it pretty well. But don’t let her description of Sherlock’s odd personality put you off. This is a terrific series (esp the first series). Clever, intriguing, modern, totally engrossing. Don’t miss it, I say. What say you, Bev? Oh, that’s right, you say the same. 😉
Finally finished Last Hour of Gann last night. Yeh, it’s a megaread, but so totally worth it. Completely gripping adventure. A lot of it is about desperate people behaving badly, and you just never know what’s going to happen next. The story is actually quite uplifting in many ways. Smith isn’t afraid to show us the worst side of humanity (and of the aliens, who behave just like humans anyway). But she also shows us how people (and aliens) with integrity can grow and develop wisdom.
I usually can’t stomach books or films with too much violence or darkness, but in this case the violence is totally an essential part of the story and the characters. You even find some sympathy for some of the bad dudes (like Zhuqa) when you understand their history and motivations.
And the romance of Amber and Meoraq is totally lovely. This isn’t one of those schlocky human woman meets hot alien with extraordinarily large **** for kinky sex type books. It’s a well-written book that also explores some very interesting philosophical questions through the storyline, without being preachy. Well done, R. Lee Smith.
I checked out the blurbs for some of her other books but none of them are really grabbing me. There seems to be a bit too much of a horror element in them for me. Maybe I’ll give one of them a go one day. For now I’ve scanned my TBR and have started Surviving Raine. My Commander and Bully also on stand-by ….
I read her Cottonwood after I read TLHoG and it was really good but very dark.
Decided on Tiny Pretty Things. I’m a bit nervous but hopefully live up to the good reviews I have seen. Someone should read it with me.
Jan, it’s funny but with this group Cheryl sharing Sherlock’s personality probably has them more intrigued.
Grey, I loved it!!! It’s been a while since I five starred a book…there have been plenty this year that I am still thinking about even after some time (Cruel and Beautiful…*oomph* my heart STILL is aching from that one) but this is the first in a while that I have been crazy enough about it to five star it. 😀
Bev…how good was that ending in ITYT? Not sickeningly-sweet perfect but great for them nonetheless.
Oh, and how about I watch Sherlock when you watch Bates Motel. Boom. Gauntlet thrown down.
Aaaaaand now I have to slink back to Bev and change the acronym to IMYT.
That totally undid my smugness from the gauntlet comment. *snort*
It was the perfect ending, yet I want more. I’d totally read a sequel. I also liked how even though they want to leave that town, with good reason, others don’t and that’s OK too.
So, you liked both MCs?
So, I will totally pick that up, as long as it’s first ep for first ep. Cause bev doesn’t do well with scary and it has 10x more eps. If so you do realize what I’ll be watching tomorrow afternoon, right? Lol.
Jan, you’re reading two of my favorite books back to back. Squeee I hope you love this next one too. They both pack a punch.
Speaking of punches. I’m sorry Amy I have not started SoT yet. I started reading Boys for Sale by Mark Fink’s late last night thinking I’d switch over to SoT today when I was awake. Oh hell no! I’ve been glued to it, reading with a sick stomach since the first page. I just finished on a cliffhanger and I HAVE to read book 2 RIGHT NOW. You don’t understand… This is an emergency. I’ll get SoT Jean and Amy. I promise. I just…I just HAVE to see this nightmare through to the end.
Oh, and that’s a yes Bev to the Sherlock personality thing. I’m getting closer and closer to spending the money on the eps.
*peeks in quickly to make sure no drinks are flying around tonight*
Can’t pick my next book. Eyeing The Wrath and The Dawn, A Thousand Boy Kisses, The Raven King, The Glittering Court, Dumplin or The Winner’s Curse…bah they all look good and I’m wasting valuable reading time!
Ooh, that is a great tbr, Michelle.
The Wrath and the Dawn, The Raven King (if part of the series I’m thinking of) & The Winner’s Curse are all ones I’m super excited /curious about.
And Dumplin I thought was great.
Michelle, A Thousand Boy Kisses was just *meh* for me. Anyone else read it? I had such high expectations!! I gave it 3 stars but I’ll admit part of that had to do with the author’s writing style because it bugged me. So maybe 3.5 would be more accurate.
I have a few friends who have recently finished Raven King and can’t shut up about it. It wasn’t even on my radar until yesterday. I read the Shiver series long ago, but apparently it doesn’t compare.
Just read a review (in the newspaper lol) of a new book that is (yet another) modern re-do of Pride and Prejudice. It’s called Eligible and it’s by Curtis Sittenfeld. Set in Cincinnati. The review was very positive and the blurb sounds fun. The single, aged in 30s, Bennett sisters, ‘in various stages of arrested development’ have come home to their parents in suburban Cincinnati, where they meet some single guys at a BBQ. Mr Bingley is a ‘charming doctor and a reality TV star.’ His snobby friend Fitzwilliam Darcy is a haughty neurosurgeon who can’t stand anyone in Cincinnati. Looks good. I’ve downloaded a sample. Has anyone read it?
Hey. Sorry. Just realised Eligible is already on Maryse’s list, right there. Must have missed it. Duh. Oh Well. Now you know an Australian newspaper also gave it a good review, anyway.
Oh my god, just finished “tapping a billionaire”. Such a great book. Hilarious giggled all the way through and so sweet. Highly recommend this one. 5 stars for me. Has anyone else read it. Oh and I loved “A ThousAnd Boy Kisses. I gave it 5 stars. I just loved the whole concept and the writing. It took me a long time to decide to read it as I don’t like sad books that feel like your stomach is in knots. But I can honesty say I’m. So glad I read it. Has a really good twist at the end. What did everyone else think.
Bev, I know right, too many good books to read! Went with The Raven King to finish out that series. I got Dumplin before when you rec’d it and still have Act Like It, but just saw Dumplin on sale so I put it on top of my list.
Renee, I think it was MichelleS that read A Thousand Boy Kisses and loved it so I was curious. I read Shiver a while ago too and never any more of her books until The Raven Cycle series. They are really good but I’m not one of the people that wents nuts over them.
I’m in the minority boat with R…A Thousand Boy Kisses was just okay for me. To be honest, I skimmed. I probably said this before when I first read it but it was just too similar to another book that I absolutely loved, and it was hard not to compare the two. That, and the big “reveal” happened too early in the story for me so a lot of things just seemed repetitive until the end. But how crazy is it that I felt so left out when I *didn’t* enjoy it like everyone else?? I swear…book nerd issues…
Fabi, don’t be sorry! I actually ended up starting The Unraveling of Mrs. Noland late yesterday (y’all know I love a book where the MC starts to go off the deep end) so I’m not reading SoT yet either. 😉 Next weekend!
:0 Walk of Shame the full series box set by Victoria Ashley is FREE right now!
Ok, trying to catch up on comments…
Bev, I have watched all the Sherlock episodes and am impatiently waiting for the next season. Love the cleverness, humor, mystery/suspense and general craziness of the series. Love the relationship between Sherlock and Watson. * oh, my sick-twisted brilliant Sherlock*
Amy, what is IMYT?
Melinda, Tapping A Millionaire, is a series. Are they different MC’s each book? Not a CH?
Jan, Eligible sounded good until I saw the $13.99 price. That will go on my watch for price drop list.
I am super curious as to what MichelleS thought of Dumplin but it is making me a bit nervous.
That’s good to hear Cheryl. I know the last season is slightly different and so have been curious about it.
Cheryl…it’s I’ll Meet You There. Bev and I both thumbs-upped it. 😀
Speaking of that one…I didn’t answer your question yet, Bev. Yes, I did like both MCs. Even though I wanted to shake her because her mom didn’t deserve her concern, and even though he made some really stupid choices, they both grew in the story until they were perfect for each other and I *loved* that.
Oh, and Bev…with Bates Motel, I didn’t fully get into it until the end of season 2. Before that, I would just be in the room when hubby was watching it and would occasionally glance at it. It’s in season 4 now and oh MAN is Norman starting to snap. There have been so many other side stories going on with only a hint at Norman’s instability, but now his DID is starting to manifest itself. They casted him and his mom perfectly. And I promise, it’s not scary. 😉
Busy busy weekend, but I’m checking in to let Bev know that I absolutely LOVED Dumplin’. How could I not? It takes place in a small Texas town (I work in a small Texas town) and it was spot on. The giant homecoming mums and all. You haven’t let me down yet, Bev, with your coming of age books: E&P, Simon vs THSA, and now Dumplin’. When I need a book like this, I will come right to you!!! I couldn’t put it down, literally.
I also never mention Eidolon…. I adored that one too. It was a bit anti-climactic, compared to Radiance, but I really loved how much Brishen worshipped Ildiko. My hero….. sigh.
Now what to read? I think I might go back to that Stanton Series. Unless you all derail those plans, as I am sure you will!!!!
That makes me so happy. I loved the group of friends she made.
Hope it’s fun busy.
Wait. Amy hasn’t read Sea of Tranquility? 0.0
Huh?? Yes I have read Sea of Tranquility…actually I read it before I even found this place, and I was so excited when I saw a bunch of my favorites being mentioned here like Beautiful Disaster, Thoughtless, Love Unscripted, Sea of Tranquility, Sweet Gum Tree, etc.
Ohhhhhhhhh, you thought the acronym SoT was Sea of Tranquility…nope we were talking about Sinners on Tour. 😉
Hey, Amy guess where I am. The Bates Motel. Meeting your friend Norman and his…..interesting mom, Norma. I have the first 3 eps.
So, I’m sure you’ll be knocking on the door of 221B Baker Street. Lol.
Rofl Alright, SoT, yeah that is probably why Maryse gets confused. I thought you were the one to tell me to read Sea of Tranquility, thus my shock.
I can’t watch Bates Motel. That relationship between mom and son… NOPE!
It’s rainy and gross here so I’ve dug around for some new freebies and some that are still free 😀 Enjoy!

Oh wow!!! Those are all free? I might start a new collection of “free books” and just download them all. That way, if one comes up in discussion, I can see if I have it! I hate missing out on freebies.
Speaking of Sinners, Amy… I betting you’d love Original Sinners even more than SoT. One day…. Wait until you meet Nora, Soren, Kingsley & crew!!!
Started reading Broken Girl last night and so far so good. I might read My Commander or Tapping the Billionaire next.
Oops I wrote my email wrong so my comment is awaiting moderation but here it goes again:
Started reading Broken Girl last night and so far so good. I might read My Commander or Tapping the Billionaire next.
Michelle that list is amazing! So many great freebies! Thank you!
Michelle, big thank you. A few stood out that I didn’t have already. Wow, Translucent has such a pretty cover. And WOOT on Elude. I haven’t gotten that one yet. I got Six of Hearts even though Circuses and Carnivals freak me out. lol Always happy to try Jessica Sorrenson, and I don’t have Nameless yet. Ignited, I’m intrigued.
I’m not sure how nobody but his brother finds him odd….
Anyways, watched the first 3.
MichelleS ALL free *happy claps* I have a folder just for free books…it’s gotten quite large because I click on everything but yey for saving money!
Anne, you’re welcome. There are a lot of fantastic freebies to be found 😀
Tessa, Ignited I saw a few months ago and of course I was intrigued too but still haven’t gotten around to it. I will never get to Elude, only read the first book so far.
YAY Bev!!!!! His mom is totally in denial. And just when you think she is going to wake up and realize what’s going on…*whoompf* her head goes back in the sand.
I’ll hold up my end of the deal as soon as I finish the paper I’m working on. I hate research papers. Hate ’em. With a passion. I could do math and chemistry problems for days, but assign me a research paper and I freak the freak out. My tummy knots up as soon as I see the assignment. I’m SO not kidding. 😕
Michelle!! Thank you for that list!!! 😀 We LOVE freebies and sales around here.
Tessa, believe it or not the relationship between Norman and his mom isn’t what you would think, at least from her side. She is just very protective and wants to baby him, but his unhealthy feelings towards his mom are starting to manifest themselves. So nothing weird on her part, but on his part it is getting creepy.
MichelleS…I am REALLY looking forward to both of those series! Anything with Sinners in the title of the series HAS to be all kinds of naughty fun. 😛
Is it just me, or is amazon.com not working? I have been trying to get on so that I could get those freebies and it will NOT WORK. UGH.
It’s working okay for me…
And as I was going through the list and one-clicking (at least, clicking those which I didn’t already have :?) I realized that UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD IS ON THERE!!!! Holy moly, that is the series where the second book killed me. I swear it put a permanent scar on my heart. It STILL hurts from the double smackdown book 2 gave me.
I got it to work as long as I don’t just try to go to amazon.com – I have to put in a google search, then choose amazon books – not the main page – so weird!!!
Yes, Amy – that book killed me too. (Until the End of the World). It was really something, wasn’t it. Still haven’t read anything quite like it.
Did you ever read Lights of Peril series, Amy? I think you’d like it.
Good Luck on that paper, Amy.
I’d say Norma is emotionally inappropriate with Norman, but not physically…..so far. But she does treat him, so far, as a mix of like a baby, partner, best friend, confidant, etc. Just every bond coalesced into him.
And wants all of his attention. And a lot of manipulation and guilt.
Serial killers creep me out, more than any monster so not sure if will keep up. But really well done. Writing & acting top notch.
Finished Broken Girl and really liked it! It was gut-wrenching at times and not an easy story to read, but in the end its about redemption and the power of love. 4 stars for me.
Starting Tapping the Billionaire next. Need something light and fun.
Finished Tapping the Billionaire. *hugs self* Anyone ever need that happy read, this book is it. I’m smiling huge like this 😀
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SERIES Bewitched and Bewildered AND AM ALREADY ON BOOK 5, KENNDRICKS STORY! I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES! AND IT DOES HAVE ANGST AT TIMES SO IT’S NOT JUST AN EASY AND FUN READ! IT HAS A LITTLE OF A BDB FEEL!
