SATURDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! KATHRYN PEREZ FANS LOOOOOOOK!!!!! So many of you guys cried like crazy over “Therapy” and look what just went LIVE!!!!
➜ THERAPY Ever After by Kathryn Perez!!
➜ And speaking of intense, beautifully written, emotional books, I 4.5 starred this FANTASTIC book, and it’s super-bargain priced right now!!! In the Stillness by Andrea Randall (my review)
Oh!! Look what’s live (and a few more… a smaller list today, but everything on it looks DARN good), and of course, the reader recommendations appear to be top-notch! Scroll down for our book-find goodies!
In fact… HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK ALERT! Okay my BIGGEST recommendation of the day is going to be Me Before You: A Novel by Jojo Moyes. Yes… I know many of you know how HARD I recommend this book (my review), but now since the movie trailer has come out, this book has jumped right back up the charts (it’s #5 right now in ALL of Kindle books), so I’m realizing many fellow readers are just now jumping in. OMG you guys are in for EVERYTHING. One of the BEST BOOKS EVER!
Maryse: OH. EM. GEEEEEE!!!! I will be there with bells on!!! 😀 Wow it’s something when a trailer can make you cry… That Me Before You trailer made me cry. I MEAN CRY. Big sloppy tears falling on my feet! (I was sitting cross-legged)…
Amy: Well, now I’m crying and screwing up my freshly applied makeup. That’s what I get for watching the trailer right before I need to leave. Dammit. Gah, that book was SO beautiful!!!!
Cheryl: Ugh, crying just watching it;… I’m glad I watched it after I had my picture taken for my passport renewal. Would hate that pic to follow me for ten years!!
Grey: Am I the only one on the planet that hasn’t read Me Before You? …if I’m strong… maybe, I’ll read Me Before You. But I’m not sure me… or my tear ducts, or my Kleenex (read wine budget) can take it…
DG: *raising hand* Grey – I haven’t read it either….might need to read the blurb again….
Jean: … I still haven’t gotten up the guts to read the book! I definitely need to read it before the movie is released! Now, I have to avoid the trailer because I really have no idea what it’s about, but I know it hurts!
Maryse: Read the book first, Grey. The trailer will be SO MUCH MORE meaningful to you. PLEASE. READ. THE. BOOK. NOW.
*someone hand Grey Manny again…*
Amy: Me Before You is NOT one of those that will have you crying from beginning to end. It’s beautiful with great dry humor and cringe-worthy moments (I love Louisa *snort*) and it’s touching and OMG soooooo worth any tears there might be. And after you have read it *then* go and watch the trailer. …I just watched the MBY trailer. Again. And cried. Again. READ IT LADIES!!! *sneaks off to watch trailer again*
Danielle: Omg it had me tearing up
Jennifer: *wipes tears. Watches again. And again*
Jeannie: Finally a movie I can’t wait to see! I think the movie is going to make me cry more than the book did.
Gabby: I just bawled my eyes out
Leeann: Ok, I thought I was the only one who cried while watching this. Glad you guys are all with me! Can’t wait to see it.
Dawnee: Yep. Made me cry…
Emma: Whaaa.. bawling like a baby. Can’t wait!
Judie: The trailer is killing me – I can’t imagine what the movie will do……oh man!!
Cindy: I didn’t think I would but I totally did – cried! Love this story and can’t wait for the movie!
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

- My Soul To Keep (Soul Series Book 1) by Kennedy Ryan <— Theresa has one for us!!! “Hey Maryse! I just finished My Soul to Keep by Kennedy Ryan and it was really good! It is a rock star romance but has a very different feel from other rock star books I have read. There is a lot of emotional layering and a very slow build in the relationship, but that build is riddled with great banter, steamy moments ,angst (but not so over the top that you find yourself rolling your eyes), and a genuine friendship. The author’s character development is superb and her writing is beautiful and relatable. I really enjoyed the story from start to finish…looking forward to the sequel, Down to My Soul, which I believe is due out next month! Happy reading!”
Resisting Her by Kendall Ryan <— RAISED IN A CULT/INNOCENT HEROINE ALERT! This one caught my attention a week or so ago, and Candice loved it, and she’s requesting recommendations for more LIKE this one. 🙂 “I read Resisting Her by Kendall Ryan and I got kinda hooked on that dynamic you know innocent heroine reluctant hero could you recommend some books for me please.“

If anyone is interested in a m/m new release romance, I’m getting The Law of Attraction by Jay Northcote.
How did I NOT know that Tijan had a paranormal series! Shame on me! *head hanging* Well, my reading weekend is planned! Looks like some other good releases too. I’m HIGHLY anticipating Feb 23rd! Ground Rules and Risky Business! 🙂
I read Me Before You upon reading your review and I might never forgive you for it. I swear my eyes were swollen for days after that. I might not make it through the movie
LOL Lanie!!!! But come on, it was awesome right?
Please forgive me?? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeassseeeee? 😛
I swear I have that trailer memorized. *sigh* I think what will make the Me Before You movie work is that the author wrote the screenplay and apparently was very involved in the making of the movie. Good for her. And even better for us. 😉
I’ve only read one of Liane Moriarty’s books (Big Little Lies) and LOVED her writing style in that one. Sometimes a book with multiple third-person POVs and just the right amount of dry humor and a what-the-heck-happened scenario is just what I need. *snort* That sounded better when I thought it in my head but whatever. 😛
“…and I might never forgive you for it.” <—– *giggle* Lanie, that's something which is said quite often around here. Book peer pressure at it's finest. 😀
*starts throwing ME BEFORE YOU peanuts at everyone*
What’s a little “i’ll never forgive you” between friends, right? 😛
*giggles*
OMG dying for Nina Lane’s ADORE…the first three are awesome!
on another note…did you all read Sebring? I love KA but I’m not sure I was totally feeling that one *cringes and ducks* darker and H&H were both a little twisted.
RIGHT!! 😀
‘Cause “I’ll never forgive you” is said with all love and affection ’round here. And usually follows the reading of a phenomenal, emotional book based on a recommendation. 😉
I *know* I have quite a few I’ll-never-forgive-you’s stacked up against me, LOL!
Amy,
I want all your books that I won’t forgive you for. You have a lot of things I want to read, but you put initials and I’m at a lost.
Yah Milissa!
I tried to ban the acronyms, ’cause I’m not very acronymy 😉 but they can’t help themselves… so I just re-ask.
LOL!!!! 😛
*squeals and hugs Milissa* Woman after my own heart!!!
Wait…but now I feel bad for all the acronyms. And I feel like I’ve been scolded by Maryse. Kidding….KIDDING! 😛
Let’s see…I don’t think Grey will forgive me for Therapy, Tessa may or may not have forgiven me for And After (Until the End of the World series…see, no acronyms there! :D), Fabi hasn’t forgiven ALL of us for Rainfall, and you might not forgive me if I rec Forbidden, When It Rains (MAJOR ugly cry in there), and OH! I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this one, and it may not affect others like it did me (I have a soft spot for books with teens in turmoil) but Jumping From Swings…holy freaking moly! It’s four POV’s surrounding a teen who gets pregnant (including the preggo teen and the daddy), and I swear there is one part near the end that had me sobbing. Literally sobbing out loud…HEAVING sobs.
Okay peanut gallery…y’all have any other never-forgive-Amy recs for Milissa? 😉
Keep it going Amy… I’m turning this into an Amy’s angsty book post. 😀
*happy wiggly dance*
I need to go take a peek in my library to get some more.
Ooh!! Accidentally on Purpose! And as of this week, Every Ugly Word.
Wicked Sexy Liar here. I’ve got a sick cherub… so while we did have big plans… now we’ve got a fat lot of nothing going on.
I liked And After. If you remember, I was threatening the author’s life, not yours. I liked Accidentally on Purpose. I even chose Bright Side knowing it was sad, and adored it, even if it did tear me apart until Gus came out. Then Gus, you know the whole crying thing at the beginning. *Do Epic!*
I won’t read Forbidden but that’s my issues. When it Rains was sooooo good. I didn’t cry with that one, but it did twist my heart and I just wanted to hug her. A LOT. I own Rainfall and still have to read it. For some reason, If He Were With Me didn’t make me cry. *shrugs*
Alright Amy, name me an Ugly Cry book I yelled at you for.
No. No. No.
Tee hee!!!! 😛
Didn’t cry but remember a little book called The Tied Man.
The Tied Man!! Yes, agreed. OMG. That tore out my guts.
I am soooooo getting Snow In Texas. I love L. Gilley and this series – spinoff, whatever she is calling it now. he’s Mercy’s brother! Woo-Eee-Mama. Plans derailed AGAIN by this blog.
YAY BLOG!!!! LOL! 😛
Recommends please for a really good HAPPY read….pretty please. I really need it. Really, truly need it after the past two days.
Okay Tessa, that’s why I said you may or may not have forgiven me. Yay! You have! 😀 Oooooh, now you have to read Rainfall though. THAT one is a heartwrencher.
THE TIED MAN!!! YES!! *snicker* Did I start that one?
A couple that may cause some unforgiveness depending on your triggers or heartache tolerance…Badger and Hausfrau (yes, I’m STILL talking about that one). And of course the one that started it all for me…THOUGHTLESS!
I should pick up Louder than Love again. Squirreled before even really started. But after CP been thinking of These Old Shades. Totally different type of book but great anti hero who every one thinks is omnipotent.
Fabi the Law of Attraction sounds great!
I went back to reading The Last Hour of Gann and loving it!! I can’t believe I like a lizardman but Meoraq is irresistible!!
Happy read… Wicked sexy liar seems to be so far
Anne, I do want to read that.
Happy reads……
Heaven, Texas & Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Act Like It by Lucy Parker
Julie Garwood’s highlanders
I LOVE Lisa Kleypas HR
Kulti made many of us happy.
Puddle Jumping was a sweet little bit of happy.
Men in Kilts by Katie MacAlister
I still say we need a post on heroines we actually like. Lol.
Maryse, I might never forgive but I still love you <—I think that actually might be a line in a book lol.
And Amy, what's with that list? *must-resist-book-peer-pressure*
Sigh, what's the use? We all know I'm going to read all the books you mentioned. If anyone needs me this weekend, I'll be swimming in my tears of angst.
Happy read – Tangled by Emma Scott was a recent one that was pure happy for me. Let’s see. Consequence of Loving Colton by Rachel Van Dyken was filled with laughs for me.
Bev, I did. I think I said Sam from FCH. 🙂 I think I like most of the heroines I read. Even Diamonds, and really, she is not the type I normally like.
I’m with Bev…..a post/list of heroines we liked and could actually relate too. Some of these book b@#$&*s need to be slapped.
Now…I seriously …seriously need Manny, a ginormous stiff drink and a blankie fort. Just got back from the funeral of my friend’s fourteen year old daughter. My heart is bleeding out.
The horrible reality of having a child with a disability and living in the disability world is that far too often we outlive our children. I am so in awe of the group of fierce tiger mothers I know who were all there in support of our ‘sister” today.
Enough RL.
Oh Lisa…My heart hurts for her. Seriously I am in tears for your friend. It definitely puts things in prospective that despite my crappy two days – it is nothing compared to what others are experiencing.
Agreed enough RL. (I am slowly learning what some of these acronyms mean!)
Another one I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned…Pieces of Us by Margie Gelbwasser. Four POV’s with one in second person (at the end the second-person POV makes sense). I *really* liked it but holy sh!t was what happened INFURIATING, almost to the point of being disturbing. You’ll either thank me for the rec or curse my name. 😉
Oh Lisa. *huge squeezy hug* No words.
Lisa, that is heart breaking. No words but sending a prayer/thought.
Ya’ll are amazingly! *stands behind podium to explain: the word ya’ll is plural….e.g. You all, you guys, more than one person*. Sorry!!! I had to do it….one book I read not long ago used it in place of you – singular. Drove me nuts, batty, coo-coo.
Anyways, lots of happy reads that I haven’t read yet. *jumping into the pile* Feeling no book peer pressure here!!!
Amy
After you mentioned , if he were with me . I read it and loved.
I found a new release y’all have got to read is Commodity – Shaw Savage.
Lanie, resistance to the book peer pressure here is futile, I tell ya. 😉 My list? I just love books that make me feel as many feels as possible and I want to feel them STRONGLY. 😉
Milissa…I got Tessa to read that one. I still have some heartache from it. *sigh* I loved it though. And I have Commodity too! 😀
Amy, I read Rainfall. Don’t want to give too much away the – split p…….?
Lisa, words can’t express. *huggles*
Rainfall totally broke me, I still well up every time I try and describe it to someone, and I read it months ago!
Lisa… oh hell… that poor woman. *hugs* sent from across the miles. I too was at calling hours yesterday. 50 year old mother of 4, colon cancer. F*ck cancer.
My little boo is still sick 🙁 I finished Wicked Sexy Liar… a happy little read… light on the angst, completely what I expect from a Christina Lauren read. Debating about what is next here.
I picked up Low, Until the End of the World, Me Until You is actually sitting on a TBR pile…
Oh Lisa! I am so sorry for that poor woman and her family. That is just so sad. Big hugs!
I am 35% in TLHoG (this book is loooong lol) but really loving it! So glad I stuck with it causethe first 18-20% was kinda slow for me.
I haven’t read Me Before You cause I know how it ends and I don’t know if I can take it :/
Whew, just caught up on all the comments I’ve missed over the last couple of days. RL sucks sometimes- having an elbow procedure on Monday so have been cleaning the house and doing things I may not be able to do next week. But hey I can hold my kindle with one hand. 🙂
Amy, I can jump on the angst bandwagon with the others. You have gotten me to read some angst-filled books I probably never would have. I feel like a schizo when I say I love and hate you for it. Beautiful books that made me feel like I had been run over by the end.
Hmmm, maybe I need to try your concealer. I like mine- Makeup Forever, Full Cover, but it can be a bit thick at times. 😉
Maryse, did you notice who the editor is on the upcoming book How To Save a Life by Emma Scott is? Yep, Suanne Laqueur!! Author of Rush and author of The Man I Love together- that should be a great read!!
Lisa *hugs*. I can relate as the mother of a daughter with a disability. Luckily hers is not life-threatening, but it does make you think of the future and what it means for her.
Want to read The Consequence of Seduction. I read The Consequence of Loving Colton, but haven’t read book #2. Think they can be read as standalones. Has anyone read book 2- do you rec it?
Jean, thanks for comment about RoomHate- adding that to my tbr wish list!
This post!!! Is it happy books? Or crying angsty books? If you want happy, for me that was something like Seduction in Snacks (laugh out loud funny). Angsty (may never forgive whoever recommended these) books: Forbidden (T. Suzama), Carnage (L. Jones) – cried and cried. I was so mad at you guys for making me read those.
But you know the saddest thing ever for me in a book that I still can’t forgive the author for? VERY OLD SPOILER SO I DON’T THINK I NEED TO WARN YOU BUT JUST IN CASE YOU NEVER READ BDB EARLY BOOKS….. when JR Ward killed off Welsey and when they told Tohr and they all had to hold him down. Gut wrenching. Hated that.
Question for all you “love to cry” ladies. When you’re reading one of those books and you’re overcome by emotional tears, is your spose in the room watching sports or the history channel? Are you children and maybe their friends hanging out texting on their phones? Are you maybe on a lunch break from work or sitting on the train/subway? What do people say when they see you fall to pieces?
Sorry for the typos above. My phone’s autocorrect doesn’t correct errors it only changes random words when it wants to f**k with me.
LOL fabi!!!!!
I do it alone. 😉 At least as best as I can…
Fabi, I hate crying in public.
Like when watching movies with others and trying to hide it, lol.
Or a documentary in a class.:-/
Just watched the first ep of Outlander. Read that book so long ago.
Anyone here ever have their tea leaves read?
Normally I read the books before I watch any screen adaptation. The ONLY exception I have made so far is the Outlander series. I have not read the books. And I enjoy the hell out of the show. I have not had my tea leaves read.
Crying in public… try to avoid, I’m an ugly crier lol! Oh MichelleS, you just made me tear up girl remembering that scene in BDB though…damn, that was so f*cking bad… whew… gah, *blink, blink*
I really don’t know what I am in the mood to read. I actually opened up a new document. I may write today. *shrug* It’s been a while… who knows.
Fabi, I read those in front of the computer. No one can see the tears unless I lift my head up. Also, NEVER with little dude awake or at home. OMG, he’d go nuts and would be unable to handle it. I’d get a lot of hugs, but he’d tell me six months from now that I cried one day.
I see the Roam series by Kimberly Adams are all .99 right now. I’m going to pick up the rest and finish that series soon. Getting In the Stillness from above and starting Therapy after I finish my current scifi romance, The Melier by Poppy Rhys.
Crying books I try to read in private. When I lived outside Boston I had an hour commute on the train and did cry in public once. The lady next to me was giving me the side eye so I pointed and said really sad book. I didn’t want her to think I was emotionally unbalanced…well I probably would have blended in with a good percentage on the train but that’s besides the point 😉
Bev – I have *holds up hand and ducks head*
Posted on other thread like a dork….but I really, really have a BIG thing for Sven (Distraction) and I thought it was little. Ha!
Lol. Was it accurate?
*Screams really loudly & jumps up on soapbox*
How many times have I ranted that authors should say if a book ends with a CH or is part of a series?!!!! I just finished Blind Reality and yes to both of those. It ends on a CH and there is a second book- Married Blind: The Reality Version. NO. RELEASE. DATE!!!! UGH. *hops off soap box*
Well kinda sorta ….she had read my cousins when I was a child and it was dead on it. She told me I would have 3 kids but only raise 2…. I have 2 kids (3 if you count the hubs!) so that kinda is accurate- right?!?
Oh Cheryl I feel for ya – cannot take it anymore either. Just tell us if there is a CH or better idea authors, stop writing books that should be one in multiple parts! *hops off Cheryl’s soap box*
Cheryl, I feel bad for you too. 🙂 I’ve been so careful lately to not pick up a book that doesn’t say stand alone or is part of a completed series. But those sneaky ones ones like the one you just read are hard to avoid. They make me furious. Since most of them are indie authors, we can’t even lean on the publishers to quit doing that.
LOL Fabi. That smiley face next to that sentence does have a very creepy aspect to it… LOL!!! 😛
That smiley face above was supposed to be a frowney face. Maybe I need to stop posting today, its not working well for me.
Aw Cheryl 🙁 That sucks so hard! I hate that!!! The only one I have done that with on purpose was The Ground Rules… because I couldnt resist, ya know. It was just too good… I’m sorry *hands Cheryl a shot of fireball*
Fabi, keep posting… we need typos, they make things better! do you know my phone once autocorrected tball to tea-bagging… if you don’t think *that* made that conversation more interesting *giggle*
Ooooh we’re on Fireballs, are we? Nice cinnamon breath! 😀
Grey and Fabi I have had a couple of auto correct moments too (who am I kidding Ive had hundreds) where Maryse has corrected to Master!!
Luckily she thought it was funny.
Ive woken up with that ‘congested dehydrated cried too many tears’ feeling.
I need a happy book so Im tackling Wicked Sexy today (no angst allowed).
Cheryl I am fuming on your behalf…..I loath CHs more than taxes, PMS and brussel sprouts all rolled into one. And I think its a rotten thing for an author to do…the sneak attack.
God its just frustrating….you start to get to the last 80% of a book and know that its not going to be resolved in 20%…start suspecting that there isnt going to be a HEA.
So sorry for you.
Tee hee!!
I like “Master” much more than Maurice. *snort* 😛
I am immersed in the world of Gann. This book is amazing!!! Just popped in here to say that *back to reading*
Thanks so much. Between Fabi’s smiley face, Grey’s shot of Fireball and tea-bagging (which I knew couldn’t be good, but had to look up, *snort*), and Lisa’s taxes, PMS and brussel sprouts, I am laughing my a$$ off. Just what I needed. Now I think I will read Wicked Sexy Liar and laugh some more.
Lisa, the bad part was it wasn’t apparent that it was going to end on a CH until the last page! I’m not sure I’m going to read the next one because I’m ok with how it ended anyway. *sulks*
Michelle – ROAM series. OMG. Loved that one soooooooo much. Just WAIT until you get to the end. What a ride. It gets crazy good. Stick with it. I promise. You won’t be disappointed. Wish I could re-read that whole series, if I wasn’t so he## bent on finishing my TBR and squirreling with new releases.
On a more positive note, PRETTY INSTINCT by S.E. Hall is FREE through February 7th. A really great book and bonus it says “standalone contemporary romance” in it’s blurb. :>
I think my time for fireball has passed, lol.
Lisa, that is such a horrible feeling. Read all the happy you can.
MichelleS, I have Roam. I peeked into it once and she was talking about stealing someone’s boyfriend.
I know I’m hard on the heroines and def still plan to read it, since you loved it so much.
I can’t decide between Briggs & Bishop. I hope Adam makes up a bit for last book & to see Bran. Remember when you killed Bran?
Anne, I’m so glad TLHoG (for Maryse, The Last Hour of Gann) has turned so good for you. I kept hearing about it on my sci fi threads, but it was Michelle and MichelleS who finally convinced me to take the plunge and read it. I have no doubt that it will be on my 2016 list of favorite reads.
Anne, BTW, Law of Attraction is turning out to be pretty damn good. 🙂 <- that's a real one
Cheryl, glad you're feeling better. The last book that left me hanging was the last state for me and I refuse to read anything else by that author.
Thanks for the heads up on Pretty Instinct, I'm adding it to my tbr.
Whaaa Bev that’s not a decision is it?!! I mean I love Brigss but come on *shakes head in disappointment* No sugar cube for you.
MichelleS, I know I will love them if you did since we have such similar tastes. The first book was very good and I stopped purely since buying the whole series was pricey but now it’s $4.96 to finish and my wallet says yipppeeee 🙂
No, not a decision. Lol.
I really lean towards MiF, but I know I will not want to put it down. But work night. What is with the Tuesday release dates on everything? But probably still will I will go.
What? The whole Roam series is <$5. That can't be right. I've only read the first one too.
Hey, someone give me a number….one to two digits.
21
Thank You. Lol. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to read. So counted to 21st book on my carousel skipping over new, non fiction, and samples. Landed on The Last Hour of Gann.
Not sure if will start tonight or tomorrow.
Ha! That is a good idea Bev to pick your next read! Yeah it sucks with Tuesday releases but for MiF, I don’t care if I sit up half the night!
Fabi, the whole series is $5.94. I have the first book so just need the next five…and I can’t do math tonight since that’s $4.95…fail.
Crying in public…uh, I’ve done enough embarrassing things in public so I try to avoid crying in public if I can. At home, I usually find another room to read in if I know I’m going to start crying, or I stop reading until I can be alone. Doesn’t mean hubby hasn’t caught me in an ugly cry before though. 😉
Aw Cheryl, that sucks nuts. You know how much I hate CH’s (and I’m not too terribly fond of series lately either), so you *know* I am empathizing with you right now.
Are we drinking fireballs?!? Ooooooh, those are GOOD.
Hey, you know there is a tea bag cocktail, right? Ya know, in keeping with the conversation and all. 😛
And for the record…I love all of your autocorrect mistakes around here. Dirty or not. ‘Cause I’m mature like that. Kind of like giggling when someone trips. And then cackling if they actually fall.
I’ve barely started but its funny to see the time left just get longer. Lol
Ok tissues – check. Makeup cleaned off – check. Fireball…eww no…New Belgium Fat Tire – check. Kit Kat bar (wrapper not to be used as a tissue…hopefully) – check. Ready to read Therapy — check?
Oh Fabi TLHoG is so good! I am in love with Meoraq. Never thought I would fall in love with a lizardman but there you go lol
Bev! If you like sci fi then you are going to love this book. It was a little slow for me up until 20% but hang in there 🙂
Oh Bev, I can’t believe my lucky number 21 landed you on The Last Hour of Gann. lol one of my favorites too funny — BUT I so do not see this as being to your reading taste. SO, I’m going to cross my fingers and toes (and cringe) as you try to read this sci-fi/fantasy romance epic whatever. *snicker*
Anne, I don’t think ANY of us pictured ourselves falling in love with a lizardman. But we ALL have <— I can't believe I just wrote that.
This is the perfect time – and since I haven’t harped on it in a long time –
Michelle and MichelleS will you pleeeaaassse read Hominids? I can’t believe I have no one here to share the love with. 🙁 I’ll even re-read with y’all.
Oh Michelle, I just saw you’re heading into Therapy. You brave woman, you. *snags candy bar from Michelle’s supply*
Fabi its just that Meoraq is so great! I need a man like him (but in human form lol)
The fantasy aspects, yes. The scifi aspects……we will see. Lol.
I had to look but been on my radar since fall of 13. That’s when I saw it pop up on romance book blogs and best of lists. But never took the plunge. Then forgot about it until all of you ladies brought it up.
I hope it works for me, love an epic read to fall into.
*squeeeeeeeeeeee* The ENTIRE Measure of Devotion Trilogy Box Set Kindle Edition is on sale for 99 cents !!! If you like mm, if you like historical, if you like heartbreaking angst, if you like reading about a love for the ages, read this trilogy.
Finished Me Before You….. I’ll be in the blankie fort for the next 5 days. I am broken……
Oh my… Jean, here… here’s Manny and wine *it’s 5 o’clock somewhere*
bev, I love your idea of having someone pick a number between 1 and 99 to read for you! That’s amazing! Makes me wanna be a copycat and have someone pick a number for me!
I read In the Stillness last night… the first half of the book, was a definite 5, but then it fell a bit, dragged a bit, there were a few editing issues, still a good read. So it wound up being a 4 for me.
What’s everyone up to today?
Thanks Grey! I’ll take that wine!
Trying to figure out what to read next. Something light for sure, or maybe a different genre….
I could kill Amy right now! It will be a while before I let her pick my next book! Lol! Really, I loved MBY, but……my aching heart!
Jean, I know what you mean. It was a beautiful read that devastated me.
I still can’t decide what I am going to read next… was thinking of Therapy, but then again that’s an Amy “devastation” rec. 😉
Of course, several releasing tomorrow that interest me. Bait & Switch, The Consequence of Seduction, How to Save a Life, His Life in the Dark. 🙁
I’m thinking of going with Beautiful Burn or The Balller or I just don’t know…. Just went food shipping, Got back in my car and thought about Will and Louisa and starting crying again. Beautiful book! Ugh!
*shopping….can’t even think straight. Might mean I just need to jump into a new story!
Why, Jean? Why?
Lol.
Only 10% but liking TLHG a lot.
I know the trigger warnings for rape and do think that should be mentioned if any want to read this book.
Jean…is it safe for me to give you hugs? Or are you going to end up choking me out? 😛 In all fairness though, once you get past *this* stage of emotion you are going to think of MBY and swoon and sigh and just feel in love with it. I am *absolutely* confident of that! AND you need to watch the trailer now. 😉
Oh hey, the perfect way to bounce back from an emotionally-draining read (at least for me) is to jump into a PNR book! I KNOW we can all help you out there…
Come on, Cheryl…give Therapy a shot! It’ will put you through the gamut of emotions but it’s FUN!
I’m at 25% of Therapy and it is already kicking my gut and I KNOW it’s only going to get worse. Amy, are your ears burning yet?!
Oh yes, Cheryl. Yes they are. 😛
Here… *slides shot of Jager to Cheryl* You’re gonna need it before too long.
Aaaaaand… *opens box of See’s chocolates* Only the best for ya. 😉
I’m reading The Rumor by Elin Hilderbrand, and I am really liking it! No angst, no ugly crying, no twisting of my gut, and nothing traumatic, but I keep dropping my iPad and covering my face and saying “oh sh!t” so I’m having fun with it! 😀
Wait for it…wait for it… Oh Cheryl, honey, we’ll be right here when you’re in need of a snuggle. Therapy hurt me… It was so sooo good. Remember, Kleenex in one hand, chocolate in the other. Sucks when you confuse them!
I started the On the Ropes series by Any Martinez…
Bahahaha Grey … sucks when you confuse them … haaaaa I have all kinds of crazy mental images of books and Kleenex and chocolate and estrogen overload. *grin* You crazy funny ladies.
*Aly Martinez… I swear to God, my phone hates me today…
See what Amy does to us?!?! But yes Amy, I am already starting to have those feelings for the book. Begging all my friends to read it now!
Yay Grey! I hope you love that series!
I still haven’t decided on my next read. Trying to decide now. I could go back to the Lux series or Fever Series or BDB (I’m up to book 10, Tohr’s story). I just don’t know!
“You mean……”He eyed the other men in the tent and lowered his voice a little.”…people?”
Amber rocked back.
“What?”
“We don’t have to talk about this until someone actually dies,”said Eric.
“Oh my God,” Amber said, staring at both of them.”No, I meant looking for fish or rabbits or whatever freak moose thing was shouting up the place last night! People? You thought I wanted to eat people?!”
That’s so dark and so funny.
Jean, ask for a # a count off. That’s how I decided on my read last night, Fabi’s lucky #21.
Cheryl, I got to 24% in Therapy last night and yeah it’s really good so far and I feel tense just waiting for disaster. Didn’t need the tissues yet but stress eating…oh yeah Kit Kat is gone! I just sat back down to get into it again.
Bev, I think you will enjoy Gann. It gets heavy but as your quote highlights, it has humor and realism in a crazy world. Loved that book. I almost picked up another of her books a few days ago. I have a whole cache downloaded and ready to go 😀
I’m going to have to put it down in a bit and I do not want to.
Nicci, ugh!
Oh and Bev, I loved your # count off for all of us that are indecisive about their next book. I have my highest priority TBR that has 57 books right now (ha yeah 57…sad) but pick a number for my next read!
14
Fingers crossed.
Jean…go with Lux!!! Daemon is the perfect cure for a MBY hangover. 😀
Who else gets a lump in their throat now when they hear the song Photograph by Ed Sheeran? What a great song for the trailer. *dreamy sigh*
*slides Jager and See’s over to Michelle* You’re welcome. 😉 And now Therapy Ever After is out…yay us!!!
I should be out running or getting ready for Super Bowl party we’re going to but NO I’m eating chocolate like there’s no tomorrow and reading Therapy. *grabs Jager and holds out empty glass for refill(s)*
WHAT?! Therapy Ever After…ugh just shoot me now
*Refills Cheryl’s glass, fluffs the pillows in the blankie fort, prepares hangover cure* I’m having sympathy pretzel tummy in anticipation… Oh honey… *pats Cheryl’s shoulder* It’s gonna be ok. Kinda. I mean. We all are still talking to Amy. (Tessa… We are still talking to Amy, right?)
Sorry got sucked into Therapy. God the next chapter at 24% was like a slap! Their what?! *grabs Amy’s gifts*
Bev, yeyyyyy I got The Man I Love by Suanne Laqueur which I really wanted to read but maybe needed a little push. I might just have you pick all my reads lol. More reading, less digging thru my kindle!
*snorrrrrrt!* I love you guys. 😉
Ok bev, I used your number 14 and got Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich. Looks like a sweet, funny read. Just got it on sale the other day. Just what I need right now. I’ll let ya know. (And when I tried fabi’s lucky #21, I got Therapy! Can you believe that?!?! And seeing everyone’s reaction here…..um, yeah….no, not right now!)
Good luck, Jean. If nothing else I guess it is a way to try a book we would just let sit.
I’m not sure I have a lucky# but favorite is 4. Does everyone have a favorite #?
Fabi – I picked up Measure of Devotion since it was 99 cents for all three. It sounds so familiar. I wonder if I read book one once? Or maybe a sample? And I will check out Hominids, but need to get it at a library. Still so expensive!
Bev – if I recall, you killed off Simon! YES YOU DID. You picked Charles. LOL. You must have made me pick between my “R” men: Rhage, Ram, Rain. So not fair. I will be loyal to Briggs and read hers first. I can read her books faster. Bishop is more wordy and takes some concentration.
Michelle – just you wait. I sure hope you love Roam like I did. Still a huge fave of mine. Such a tangled web. You think the time travel gets confusing, but somehow I kept up. Crazy crazy good.
Amy – yup, I love Ed Sheeran and anything he sings. Saw him in concert. Such a talented guy. Total one man show. Amazing. I have a crush in wittle ole Ed.
Michelle, I have both of those books. But just hesitant to try them. Not sure why.
I know this will get dark but right now Meoraq is cracking me up.
“I will protect you-”
……”–at least until I know whether or not I am meant to kill you. That you are a test of my faith is clear to me”
And
“Just so,” he agreed, and gave her a tap on the top of her freakish, furry head.
At 74% and now not sure what I think about Jace. *sigh Kingsley*
Now, I’m going for a therapy run!
Bev – i could have quoted half that book (Last Hour of Gann). I just love everything that Meoraq says and thinks. You, too, will love a lizardman when you are done with this, if you make it that far, and I hope you do. YES, definitely should have warnings about triggers – rape is a theme that is repeated a few times in this book.
Isn’t this blog the coolest thing ever ladies? It’s like having a team of carry along friends. Always there to share the sqeees and drinks and chocolates and tissues (and Manny!)
It is so hard to pull myself away. I have been reading since last night and still have 19 hours left in the book.
YES Fabi!! I’m so glad I found this place and found all of you! 😀
Finished The Rumor (it was a really good one!) and now I need to pick a new read to start after the Super Bowl. Soooo…someone give me a number between 1 and 710 to decide which book I’m reading next. the year for me is 2014 right now and that’s how many books are in that collection on my Kindle app.
First one to give me a number is the one I’m going with. Ready…set…GO!
Ahh this book…too many feelings! Got distracted so at 60%.
28…I did not want you to have to count too high but my first # was 282
Then let’s go with 282 since it was your first pick. 😉
Give me a sec to see what it will be…
Come Undone by Jessica Hawkins…woman torn between her marriage and the man who might be her soul mate. And it’s a completed series…way to go Michelle!!! 😀
As for Therapy…see?!? That’s *exactly* what I was talking about when I said you’ll feel just about every feeling possible. 😉
Oh I have that book too Amy and I remember it’s suppose to be good. I like this picking a # thing. I have my next read thanks to Bev, no decisions required 🙂
Therapy is ughhhhh on my heart and head but I love it!
No, no, no. NOOOO!! I can’t believe…I just can’t *wails*
Just finished Wicked Sexy Liar and loved it. Just what the Dr ordered ..no angst or heart ache or frustrating missed communications.
But these girls are so talented at creating believable H/hs who stay true to character (no wall flowers or wilting doormats here). And what a joy that is to really have the players all so well fleshed out and defined that you never have those WTF moments and out of character moments. Even the cameos of past book H/hs are still true to form…just how you remembered them.
I’m not always a massive fan of dual POV but it works here and for two girls CL really have a disturbingly uncanny knack of portraying the inner working of the male mind….they give good guy speak!
The added humor is just icing on the Christina Lauren cake.
Not sure if I want to read Low next or re-visit the Lean Dogs…I’m a bit obsessed with them at the moment.
Hope you are all have a great Superbowl day.
Oh and by the way *punches me in the heart again* Is it done? I can’t turn the page…
I am feeling more afraid of Therapy by the minute.
Ummmm… *nervously scoots over to Michelle* I think the worst is over? Maybe? If you’re where I think you are…
I’m a mess, completely tear stained…but the ending *sigh* was beautiful. How I can have an emotional hissy fit one chapter and then feel hopeful, I don’t know. Gah Amy I was going to curse ya but I can appreciate the ride that gets you to this ending. Now I will have to read the novella but not right now. I can’t say don’t be scared of this book because it takes you through gamut of emotions but I feel cleansed instead of overwhelmed.
I’m scared too Lisa! Don’t know if I can handle it right now, but someday……
Michelle…you made it! And you don’t even have chocolate smeared on your face. That honor belongs to our confuses-kleenex-and-candy-wrappers friend Grey. 😛
Whew…I’m reliving so many emotions of that book through y’all. I need to get to that novella SOON.
Jean…I’m a broken record here but did you watch it yet? Did ya?? DID YA?!?
And I would say give yourself a bit of time after MBY before jumping into Therapy. 😉 See? I’m lookin’ out for ya.
Lisa…come on, how long has it been since your last emotionally-draining book? Give it a chance!
No I can’t watch it yet Amy.
I know Amy….its been ages. Nothing since Badger….I am such a chicken.
But RL is kicking my a@#$ big time at the moment. I feel a little bit too tender to tackle anything too brutal…I need my books to be my happy place for a bit.
But you know girl…you will be the first one I ask for a rec when Im feeling brave of heart again ☺
The definitely stick with the happy for now, Lisa.
I read a sad book, not knowing, in the very early stages of grieving….and it was not a good experience. I’m not sure I’ll ever finish that series.
TLHG, up way past my bedtime. Loving it. Two quibbles. Stop the threats & do something about S’Kot. After awhile the threats mean nothing. And why do they all hate Amber? It can be hard sometimes to see one character be dumped on repeatedly.
Makes me think of the Barbra Havers character.
I agree with Amy. It is so cool to relive great books as someone else reads them. So glad you’re liking it Bev.
I love re-living as readers and newly discovering. A fellow reader JUST read Beautiful Disaster and is now on Thoughtless for the first time… can you imagine??
Just finished Therapy. It did pull out all the emotions, but I have to say I didn’t sob. Yes, it was very sad at times and heartbreaking, but for me I think it was also tempered by my disdain for one of the MC’s at the time and the heartbreaking part was sudden and not drawn out. In fact the ending seemed to tie up fairly quickly. Maybe after thinking more about it, it will hit me then and I’ll cry. I think I will read the novella next.
Lisa, I am so sorry…I just remembered what you’ve had going on. Ignore my goading and *definitely* stick with books with happy feels.
*gasp* Maryse, I am SO freaking jealous of her! Beautiful Disaster AND Thoughtless for the first time?!? What I would give to fall in love with Travis and Kellan for the first time all over again…
Cheryl…I’ve had that happen before where a book is sad but I didn’t really cry, and then something will trigger it later (usually some sappy, sad song) and BAM! I’m wiping my tear-streaked and snotty face while trying to drive. I haven’t read the novella yet…let us know how it is!
I wonder though Maryse, if we would all lose our minds as much over Kellan and Travis if we read those books now… after the thousands of other books in this vein that we’ve read?
For me they were some of the first books besides 50 that I had read in this genre so they were unique and packed a punch.
No offence to Travis of course! 😉
Don’t be silly Amy…no need to apologize. I am not a brave reader at the best of times and need a kick in the a@#$ to get me to read some of the more angsty books. The ones I have ‘braved’ are all in my top books ever list…so there you go!
Goad away! You know I need it.
I did really like the book. I just read the author note and *that* hit me harder since she relates it to her real life. ugh.
Just wondering how we ended up with our little avitar characters and why I look like a squashed grape?
Amy looks fierce and has wings and a sneer but poor Fabi looks like she’s been electrocuted! And Bev needs some medical attention I think…not sure what’s going on there?
Lisa… it’s the “comment program” whatever-thingie that goes with this blog theme. LOL! I dunno how many are in the “avatar repertoire” and I’ve always thought they didn’t match “us”… but you know? They kind of do.
Blahahaha Lisa! You just made me crack up at my desk! That’s so funny!
And look at mine! What the heck am i?
LOL… Yep, that’s me. Being honest and taking one for the team here. It’s a good damn thing Godiva even has good wrappers.. wiping my face with the wrappers *grumble grumble* I haven’t read the Therapy novella yet. Not sure I can…
Still on book one of the On the Ropes series…
Wondering what comes out tomorrow…
LOL!!!! Fabi’s *does* look like she’s being electrocuted!!!
*snort* My little character is fitting in so many ways. Frowny face while going *pbllllllltttttt!!* 😛
MichelleS’s makes me think of the song Walk Like an Egyptian. *giggle* I have to go and check everyone’s character out…
LEGEND! Grey, Legend comes out tomorrow!!! Oh, why can’t tomorrow be Friday so I can read straight thru?!?
And my character looks confused….hmmm *cocks head to the side*. This might be accurate!
Throwing my two cents in, there is nothing like the thrill of a good first read. I truly think I would have to have amnesia to get that feel back. Yet there are those books that are favs and even though that first read thrill is gone I think I would still love them all over again….
Plus, I think that is why I am always looking for my next first read “high”….it’s hard to top some of these fav books!
Am I making any sense?
Dude, I’m totally a pirate.
I like Anne’s, a little ghost.
Haha Lisa I’ve wondered how we got the avitars too. Jean’s always looked like it was throwing up to me. Fabi’s is definitely getting electrocuted. Mine needs some dental work!
Cheryl, I can’t believe you didn’t even tear up! I didn’t sob but I cried for sure and screamed at THAT part because I adored that character. I thought their connection was hot!
My character looks like …. A boy part *cackle* a blue belted boy part *howl* oh good Lord, it isn’t even wine night and I’m laughing my face off!
DG’s is confused. Just, look at that face. Confused. Cheryl’s is John Travolta. See, disco hands! Mine is definitely me. It’s doing the *pllllbbbbt* while bouncing on a slinky waving his hands in the air. 😀 Very me.
Tee hee! These monster avatars are ridiculous, and totally DON’T match this site at all… but after year’s of them… they kind of fit. 😉
Awwwww wait! I don’t have a monster!!! *sigh*
I gotta say, I’d love to read Thoughtless for the first time again. *sighs* I fell so hard for Kellan.
Grey! I am laughing so hard right now! You guys are the best!
These characters had to have been drug induced. So weird. Tessa- your’s looks like it has lobster hands.
Michelle, I think I was just in shock. It happened out of the blue, things moved on without too much time spent on it and then bam The End. Still scratching my head and wondering how and if things would have ended up differently had it not happened. And not much said in detail about the other ‘event” that happened during the year that was glossed over. I’m reading the novella and hoping I get more closure out of it. Besides don’t want to start a full length book with all the new one’s tomorrow that I want to read.
Y’all are hilarious!!! I keep looking at your characters after you guys describe them and then snorting ’cause it IS what they look like, LOL!!
Michelle…you liked Lily of the Springs, right? Have you read In the Fields? I ask because it is set in the past (1970s) like LotS was.
And Bev was SUPPOSED to read In the Fields since I read one of her reds but… *gives Bev stinkeye* I like the old cover of it though.
Cheryl’s looks like a squeaky toy being squished!
*squeaks the squeaky toy* 😛
Cheryl, it does, but also pink bunny ears. Okay, Cheryl’s is a disco-dancing squeaky toy.
Cheryl, the wrap up was absolutely rushed. I wanted more so you’ll have to let us know if the novella settles some questions.
Amy, I have In the Fields and for sure want to read it. I loved Lily of the Springs and I think I said before that reading a book set in that period was refreshing. Too many books, so little time…even speed reading.
I didn’t start my Bev # pick since I HAVE to start Morning Star as soon as it shows up on my kindle. Soooooo excited *bouncing* get here soon!
OKaaay, remember when I said I didn’t cry with Therapy? Well, pay back is a b*tch. I cried with the ending of the novella. First, I did get more info to some of the questions I had and feel better about how things turned out. Second, I didn’t cry because of the circumstances, but let’s just say the conclusion is one of the “types” I HATE. *me and my disco dancing, squeaky toy character are going to sleep*
LOL Cheryl… *whoops*
Amy, I’m just taking a break at 32%…..I will get back to it sometime.
Curious, who will be reading the new Bishop and/or Briggs book next month?
Oooooh, now I’m REALLY intrigued Cheryl! 😀
Mmmmkay Bev…you just let me know if…*ahem* WHEN you finish it. 😉
Wait a second Maryse… You’re saying that I’m a blue belted boy part??? I’m not sure if I’m honored or offended. *snort, giggle* Loud, brash and full of … sass…that’s me 😀
*snort* OMG YES! Grey… I didn’t see that… but now I do. hahahahahahahah!!!! I’m laughing out loud for real!!!!
Lol!!!!! Every time I look at “blue belted boy part”, I can’t stop laughing!
It’s true that Jean’s looks like it’s ralphing. LOL!!!!!!!
I always only ever saw a silly tongue sticking out, and a monoleg… but now… yep. 😉 Ew. LOL!
I love the little monsters. I just wish we could change one or two things. Like, make mine a pretty green, not olive. 🙂
Bev!! *raises hand* ME!
Me too Jean. I’d love to see Grey during a Rorschach test. bahahahaha
I must have had too many of Amy’s martinis! Haha!
Jean…that’s not a bad thing. 😛
Hehe, and y’all thought *I* have a dirty mind…Grey is seeing little blue penises wearing belts. *snicker* That’s actually pretty awesome. Grey is making me proud.
What?!?! *tries valiantly for an innocent look, fails just as mightily* You look at my avatar and tell me that isn’t what it looks like. *tick tock* That’s what I thought. *nods head*
Grey – belted blue boy part – that made my night. So funny. Mine looks the same as it always did! Didn’t I always have that pink blob doing the Egyptian walk?
And Fabi – you always had the little fraggle rock purple crazy guy….. so what changed? Just Grey’s?
lol MichelleS, I don’t think anything changed. I think people just starting noticing/commenting on them.
I think they’re cute!
Very cute. We look like the ‘before’ and ‘after’ results of reading one of Amy’s recommendations Fabi.
Im obviously the ‘before’. 😉
That’s funny.
Now I’m going to be imagining Fabi looking like that.
hahaha very funny (and slightly true) 😉
Oh my lord, you guys… *snorrrrrt!!*
