TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT WE FOUND FOR THE WEEKEND !!
- A Lesson in Thorns (Thornchapel Book 1) by Sierra Simone <— LIVE!! SIERRA SIMONE ALERT!! Oh this just sounds dirty and scandalous and all sorts of forbiddeny fun!! The librarian gets a job in an old house… “…As Poe begins uncovering the house’s secrets, both new and old, she’s also pulled into the seductive, elegant world of Auden and his friends–and drawn to Auden’s worst enemy, the beautiful and brooding St. Sebastian. And as Thornchapel slowly tightens its coil of truths and lies around them, Poe, Auden and St. Sebastian start unravelling into filthy, holy pleasure and pain. Together, they awaken a fate that will either anoint them or leave them in ashes...”
Kelsie: Oh I love this author!!
- Hidden Miles (The Miles Family Book 4) by Claire Kingsley <— LIVE!!
Lust in Translation (Harbour Point SEAL Series Book 1) by Rachel Robinson <— THE LATEST BY RACHEL ROBINSON IS LIVE!! NAVY SEAL ALERT!! She’s supposed to be teaching him different languages… “…I don’t expect to rekindle a friendship with a wildly cocky, always humorous, and sometimes demanding Navy SEAL. I’m supposed to teach him foreign languages. The job is supposed to give me purpose. Quickly my friend ensnares me with more than just his wit and bad pronunciation. He traps me with salvation...”
- What She Doesn’t Know: A Psychological Thriller by Andrew E. Kaufman <— PSYCH-THRILLER SUPER-BARGAIN!! SHE BECOMES FIXATED ON HER NEW NEIGHBOR... oooooh creeeeeepy!!! “…Riley was the suspect in a murder investigation that destroyed her life and drove her into a psychiatric facility. Locked away for years, she was always guilty in the eyes of an unforgiving public. Now, after being released, all she wants is a fresh start, but the effort stalls when she becomes fixated on her new neighbor’s extravagant life. She can’t stop watching Samantha Light…”
- Jean’s been reading and has THESE recommendations for us:
Jean: Read some good books over the past few months, such as
My Oxford Year: A Novel (Maryse’s 5-Star list….LOVED IT!), and
The Idea of You: A Novel (my heart is still hurting from this one….the story has really stuck with me!! I’m still thinking about Solene and Hayes….sigh…..). Oh and
MVP by Rachel Van Dyken…..it’s a short book, but TOTALLY ROCKED MY WORLD!!
Also, just finished The Work Wife: A Romantic Comedy….really good!!
The Surviving Trace (Surviving Time Series Book 1) by Calia Read <— TIME TRAVEL ALERT!!! AND… SO MUCH LOVE for this series so far. I LOVE the premise – she has a fiancé, but sees an old photo and is kicked back in time… to a past where she has a moody husband and just wants to come back to today… look at these reviews!!
Nicole A: I have to say I’ve been sleeping rather poorly since you posted about Calia Reeds Surviving Time Trilogy, I AM OBSESSED!! It’s so good!! I blew through book one and I’m about halfway through book two. Great recommendation!
Ashley: This series is soooo amazing!!!! I devoured the first two books and I’ve been anxiously awaiting the third. I reread the first one recently in anticipation.
Michele S: … runs and downloads Surving Time… herhee… love that trope!
Amy: I have to agree about the Surviving Time premise. Click!

This boxed set collection includes three full novels—What Love Can Do, The Way Love Goes, and I’m Gonna Love You—each with a sexy and deeply moving romance inside...”
Broken Wings: A Dark High School Romance (Dark Legacy Book 1) by Jaymin Eve & Tate James <— RECENTLY RELEASED BULLY BOOK & now we have feedback!! Shara 5-STARRED it!!
Shara: Just finished broken wings. Loved it! 5 star for me. However it ends in a cliff hanger and I cannot wait till the next book which doesn’t look like it’s scheduled to be released till June. Bummer!
Jackie: I looooved Broken Wings. Never thought I would find a book similar to Paper Princess by Erin Watt or the Silver Swan by Amo Jones ever again. But here it is. It has similar features (four protective guys, elite in a school, bullying etc.) but the story line itself is completely different.
The level of angst was beyond scale. I adored everything about this book. Riley was hilarious and Beck is definitely my new book crush. Also.. mother of all cliffhangers. Couldn’t put it down and I now have a book hangover. I don’t know how I’m supposed to wait until June for the next book..
- Duke of Manhattan by Louis Bay <— Ninik 5-STARRED this one!
Ninik: U guys should read “duke of manhattan” by louise bay…. i rarely give 5 star of rating. But this time i had to give in for this book
ABOUT HER by Kimberly Adams <— PSYCH-THRILLER RECENT RELEASE THAT I AM READING & LOVING!!! In fact, we’re having an impromptu buddy read. 😉 And… so far the feel, and awesomeness of the writing? I’m feeeeeeeliiiiinggg…. Jezebel. NOT in storyline (not at all) though I’m only a quarter into it and I’m hooked. Her voice, her interpersonal connections. It’s THAT feel. And oh yes… something… is… up. I have NO clue where I’m going (but by that blurb I know it will be CRAZY). SQUEEEEE!! YAY ME!!! 😀 P.S. The author warns: “This is a story unlike my others, so please be aware of the genre switch. Psychological Thriller / Horror / TRIGGER WARNINGS: Abuse, Domestic Violence“
Claire: this sounds good!
Rachel: already on my kindle
Maryse: I’m starting it RIGHT NOW!!! :

DUNBAR’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! “...Daughter of a famous female rock star, it’s difficult to decide who to trust, who to believe in, so when Ivy finds herself in a predicament, it’s hard to determine Gage Everly’s motive. He couldn’t possibly love her, including her secret...”
-

- The Commanders’ Mate (Interstellar Brides® Book 15) by Grace Goodwin <— LIVE!!!
What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon <— AMY HARMON’S RECENT RELEASE and we have feedback!!
MichelleS: I did finish What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon and LOVED IT. It had that Outlander feel, except only ONE BOOK. Woohoo.
Mona: I loved What the Wind Knows!! I’d read and think, I’ll just finish this chapter, but then get pulled in and have to read another and then another… well, you get the idea. (Also thank you for the Amazon Prime tip on getting this book for free!)
- Fallen Kingdom (Ravenswood Book 2) by Christine Zolendz <— THE LATEST BY CHRISTINE ZOLENDZ IS LIVE!! “…Returning to the ominous and sinister Ravenswood is the last thing Rainey Halerow wants. She can’t sit back while innocent souls suffer at the hands of the evil King Hemlock. Hellbent on doing anything to protect them, Rainey does the unthinkable by making a deal with the devil...”
The Hardest Route by AS Teague <— JUST WENT LIVE!!! FOOTBALL STAR & HIS ONE-NIGHT STAND HAD A BABY… (and one of my favorite authors LOVED it & recommends it!!)”...Brooke turned out to be an amazing woman and mother. For seven years, we were the MVP’s of co-parenting—and even better friends. That all changed when tragedy struck our makeshift family...”
Aly Martinez: I loved this one!
Mo Mabie: Just bought mine.
Danielle: Loved this book
Jessica: Such an amazing book.
Slashes in the Snow: A Baum Squad novel by M. Never <— RECENT RELEASE BY M. NEVER!!! HE’S THE PREZ OF an MC and he hates her guts!!! “…Someone is watching me. I can feel it. I wake up in the middle of the night freaked out of my mind, paranoid a stranger is there. My skin prickles every time I leave my house, because I know someone is following me. I’m afraid. Alone. And there’s only one person left to turn to. The stepbrother I never met. The man my stepfather speaks so highly about, but never sees. He’s the president of a notorious motorcycle club, and exactly the kind of person I need to protect me. Little did I know, Ky Parish, freakin’ hates my guts…”
- Close (Ryder Brothers Book 1) by Laurelin Paige <— RE-READ GOOD as per Ashley!
Ashley: I just read Close by Laurelin Paige and loved it! It was light and fun – I’m definitely going to read it again soon!
Every Which Way (Sloan Brothers Series Book 1) by Calia Read <— LOVE TRIANGLE ALERT!! And Amy (my book-twin!!) recommends it!
Amy: Every Which Way, was great. CR can write a good love triangle. Severine (ha, I still remember her name!) is emotionally tough but not obnoxiously so, and when she gets hurt it is ROUGH and full of feels. I can still vividly recall the coffee shop parking lot scene…it was heartbreaking and yet so satisfying. Hard to imagine those two feelings at the same time, right?
- The Seven Series Boxed Set (Books 1-3) by Dannika Dark <— COMPLETE SERIES BOOK BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! ***BINGEABLE! SERIES COMPLETE*** Three full-length novels (almost 1000 pages) USA TODAY BESTSELLING SERIES. The Seven Series is a Shifter romance about family, second chances, and finding that person who completes you.
Jan: I also really liked the Seven series by Dannika Dark. A shifter series with a really different feel from some others. Well-written. …it’s not all about the pnr – more about the people and their relationships and adventures.
AP: For anyone looking for something different: I was in a post-”the deal” funk too and started reading the seven series by Dannika Dark. It’s paranornal- about shifters actually- but it’s amazing! It has everything we crave- hot men, fiesty women, angst, action (in and out of bed of course!), humor.
The series reminds me of the rock chick series by kristen Ashley… I read the Mageri series first but you don’t need to read them before starting this one. And each book is a different story too so you get your HEA and each book after follows in sequence.
Rules of Redemption (The Firebird Chronicles Book 1) by T.A. White <— SCI FI ROMANCE ALERT & Dani loved it!
Dani: Hi Maryse, So I just read this amazing sci fi romance called Rules of Redemption (The Fire bird Chronicles Book 1) by T.A. White. I’ve struggled to find good sci fi romances, so I was thrilled when T.A. White released this book on 3/8. I loved this book, it has the perfect blend of science fiction kick assery and melt in your mouth romance.

This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
Jock Rule by Sara Nay <— Ashley recommends listening to this one for lighthearted fun!
Ashley: I’ve listened to Jock Rule by Sara Ney a bunch of times because it keeps making me laugh and it has that feel good quality to it.

Good morning!!! Just finished Hissy Fit, cracked me up. Love it when a book makes you laugh out loud!! Now looking for my next read time to get clicking!! Happy Friday!!!!
YAY!!! Thank you for the feedback, Lisa. Hissy Fit sounds exactly like my kind of read. 😀
Happy Friday!!! Looking forward to my reading and drinking time tonight!
I know it was another post, but wondering does anyone have a mascara they Love? Anything different Maryse and Amy? I bought an Elf one and while I like how it goes on, (and the price) it is really flaky and a little more effort to remove and it’s not even waterproof. Think I’m going to Sephora after work today.
Update: I finished Beautiful Survivors and it was sooooo good! But be warned, it ends on a major cliff hanger. I went to see about book two and the top comment on amazon says that the author has a bad habit of writing an amazing story and not following up on the series. Noooooooo! So any who, I totally emailed her and said “where’s book two and when is it coming?” Hahahaha im a dork. I’ll let y’all know what she says!
That top one is one of the worst covers I’ve ever seen.
Maryse; Could we maybe get a RH booklist going? I love Peytons Path and Gifted Creations by SM Olivier. Now Im patiently waiting for GC5 and PP2. Would love some other recommendations in that genre!!
Hi Stacey! Actually we have a list!! But of course we can continue adding to it (so let me know your favorites). 😀
Here’s the list:
https://www.maryse.net/books/book-recommendations/reader-recommendations-our-favorite-reverse-harem-books.html
LOL bev… it’s quite… risqué that’s for sure.
Yes please Ashley! Keep us up to date, and then I’ll create a reading order post for it with the info on #2. 🙂
Hey Cheryl, here is the Mascara post and it’s JUST been updated:
https://www.maryse.net/product-reviews-2/reader-confession-we-love-talking-books-annnnnd-eyelashes.html
Soooo many goodies up there! I have read everything by Calia Read. Her books are all very good and well written. I fell in love with Macsen Sloan in the Sloan Brothers series. You won’t be disappointed with any of her books.
Stacey- I just finished Surviving Amber Springs which is a RH. I loved it!
I can’t wait to start A Lesson in Thorns because I love me some Sierra Simone!
FYI…Lauren Gilley’s Dragonslayer, book 3, in the Sons of Rome series just went up for pre-order. Another book I’ve been waiting for! YAY!
I looooved Broken Wings.
I just added your comment into the post Jackie. YAY BOOK FEEDBACK!! 😀
Happy Friday! I’m feeling a bit dull this weekend. Nothing to do, nothing appeals to me. Just in a blah mood. And still can’t focus on any one thing. Life is too busy and I want to do so many things at once, my poor brain can’t keep up. That’s what I think, anyway. Lol!
Anyway, Christine Zolendz! I remember her! 😛 Any feedback on Ravensbook book 1?
Definitely checking out Broken Wings after Jackie’s update.
The internet is listening to our makeup talk. I woke up this morning to a video of a 5 minute maroon or magenta eye with purple mascara. It was super pretty. Which then led me down a rabbit hole of watching pixiewoo videos and it’s a bit addicting.
I’m playing “add to the makeup-posts” all weekend. 😀 And creepy that “they” know what colors we’re talking about.
*sideeyes “they“*
I just finished Surprise, Baby! by Lex Martin and Leslie McAdams and I loved it! It had me laughing out loud a bunch, swooning and smiling to myself. Great if you’re looking for a fun light read (but it still has substance! And funny conversations between a kitten and it’s human!).
Jackie, if you liked Broken Wings, go look at the other things that Jaymin Eve wrote. There are a few reverse harem series, and quite a few series that aren’t, just the group of guys being protective of the girl with one love.
I’ve started watching The OA on Netflix. Strange, but I’m liking it so far. Nothing has been able to catch or hold my attention all week.
Ooo, Tasha, I loved The OA!
I just finished Naked Love by Jewel E. Ann. I loooveed it.
Really enjoyable and so funny. New book boyfriend Jake.
Whose a Vegan. A fighter, owns a restaurant and a chef.
Def worth a read.
Have you watched season 2 yet Ashley? I’d have never seen or tried it if not for that trailer popping up. I wonder how long I’ve been missing it. So addicting!
Melinda / I just finished Naked Love too! Loved it. Funny & romantic, and super likable characters. Even with all her insecurities.
Robyn – click click click… love Sons of Rome series! Yay!
*crickets* Where is everyone?
I’m reading Where the Forest Meets the Stars and it’s really intriguing so far! I wanted background noise while reading tonight (it helps settle J to sleep) and pushed play on the 1st preview that popped up on Netflix- Selling Sunset, I believe. Is Netflix doing a bunch of reality tv now or what? I swear there’s been a handful of new ones I’ve seen this year already and I don’t remember them ever having anything like that before. Maybe I just hadn’t noticed. Like, a couple dating shows, fashion maybe, I dk what else. Then this show I put on, it’s about realtors (fancy ones) in LA and they’re gossipy, of course, is supposed to be background noise and not distracting. Now I’m into it. I don’t love reality tv, but once they suck me in, I’m in the drama! Lol! I only watched a little bit, I’m not 100% who’s dating who or everyone’s name, but I kinda want to know. This is why people have tranquil little reading nooks. That’s my dream vacation. In a place with cobblestone roads, a quaint bookstore and cozy coffee shop (that also has divine baked goods).
Tasha, that’s my dream vacation too.
I want calm tranquility, lots of green and nature, fresh air, and maybe a bubbling brook somewhere.
I need new mascara too!! Just looked at the list going to try the L’Oréal one.
Just finished I Was Born Ruined. Very intense & couldn’t put it down!!! Ended with a cliffy a good one!!! Hope the next book I am Dressed in Sin comes out soon!!!
After I fell into kpop I found Big Bang and listened to them every day. Well, the youngest member of the group is facing some severe criminal charges . I cant bring myself to listen to the group right now.
But this song is just GD and Tayaeng and they rock this live performance. I love how much they obviously are feeling themselves. And the Audience reaction..! It is a beautiful spring day and I need something to prep me up and motivate me to go make the most of it.
So it really gets going almost a minute in. So wait for it.
https://youtu.be/-UZXEFzWXfc
Anyway hope you all have a wonderful spring or fall (Jan).
Hello-after feeling underwhelmed by a bunch of books I decided to get The Idea of You. I think I’ve been holding out hoping the price would drop, but this book was worth every penny. It was everything I’ve been missing from other books. And while I understand some people didn’t like the ending, I totally got it. But I have what I believe is a non-spoiler question and I’m not sure if I can ask here. It has to do with a secondary storyline and Oliver. I’m in the camp that I would love to see a second book, but since that doesn’t seem to be in the near future I need to understand this one part better.
Have a wonderful spring or fall? Are you going somewhere Bev?
Then have a wonderful spring/fall day/evening.
Hey ladies! Missed you all and all of the chatter lately. Hopefully things will slow down for me soon. It’s to the point where I’m considering working from home again. But then I wouldn’t get to stick needles in people, LOL!!
My dream vacation: https://www.sandals.com/royal-caribbean/rooms-suites/detail/?categoryCode=OWV <——— I want a whole week there. Maybe two. *sigh*
Cheryl…for everyday use, my go-to is Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. For going out and “oomphed” up use, my faves are Diorshow mascara or YSL Effet Faux Cils mascara. 😀
bev…is the cover worse than the one for Tampa? *snort* I STILL can’t believe I braved that one. 😕
I’m intrigued over About Her (the Jezebel comment hooked me) but I’m holding out until you finish it, Maryse. Psych thrillers aren’t my norm, and it has to REALLY jolt you to make me want to read it. 😉
I’m almost finished it and I stand by that comment. It is good!!
Okay I just wanna say “About Her” was excellent and confusing and crazy and came around full circle. It IS a psych-thriller and will keep you guessing (or at least, kept me guessing and I didn’t figure it out at all.
The end did it for me, in the perfect way. Eeeeeep!!
YAY ME!!! I love when that happens!!
Lol, the day/evening sounds better. I was a little panicked. What would we do without you?!
Amy! I am literally going on that vacation soon!!!! The over the water bungalows!!!!!!!! So exciting. I can check back on and let you know how it is. I’ll tell you I’ve thing, it was crazy expensive !!!!!!!!
Some of you know we have just been for a month to South America 5 countries 13 flights. It was exhausting, we don’t speak Spanish and the language barrier was very difficult. Thank god for google translate.
It wasn’t very relaxing. We were walking about 15 Kilometres a day.
But it’s so interesting visiting new places. I love travelling.
The Maldives are great. Has anyone been there?
We have also been to Tahiti and they have the huts over the water.
You can even see the fish swimming through the glass floors.
Malaysia has a club med also that we have been to as well.
The housing is really close to the water and they are pole cane huts with ramps connecting to the next hut about 2 metres above the ground.
It’s called cherating Beach, monkeys come and try and steal your food while you eat.
Reading: I’m reading Mr Spencer by T L Swan it’s quite enjoyable.
Melinda that is amazing. Be awesome to spend a month somewhere new like that. 5 countries…..I can see how that would not be relaxing.
Wouldn’t it be cool to live somewhere for a whole season. Like spend spring in Paris or autumn in Wales?
*sigh* I need a better paying job. Tessa! Jan! Let’s save up and spend July in Scotland next year. Come on. We will Rick Steve it. Meet some Highlanders. Spend the night it castle ruins.
So did you go to the rain forest? Or hike Machu Picchu ?
What was the best food?
bev, YES! I’m definitely in. Scotland in July. Big old stone castles. Picturesque lochs. Men in kilts;) Let’s do it. (Scotland I mean, not the men in kilts LOL).
Melinda, your holiday sounds amazing but full on! Wow. That’s a lot of walking. I couldn’t keep up with that pace. Why don’t you come to Scotland with bev and me? There’ll be more cups of tea and less walking ha ha. Who else is coming? Maryse???
Tea and cake. Train rides and strolls in the heather.
Yes, yes , definitely I will come to Scotland Jan and Bev! We can fly together. Haha
I love tea, maybe Devonshire tea, is that just in Australia or there too?
Yes, we went to Machu Picchu! Amazzzziiinng. Can’t describe how fantastic that was. We didn’t go to the Amazon.
Brazil was a little scary, not so safe. Loved Peru wished we were there longer. Loved Argentina.
The food was delicious in all South America it is very big on Meat so if you are a vegetarian you will starve. Hahaha. We have Carnivores in our family so that wasn’t a problem. But one thing, we are so very lucky in Australia and people take our lifestyle for granted. The wages are high, the housing is fantastic, the homeless is minimal, the health care fantastic. It just makes me so thankful for everything. A guy in Peru (that could actually speak English told me he couldn’t afford the train we took, so he walks 15 kms then catches a cheaper train to get his shopping. The catches the train back, walks with his shopping 15kms. Wow, just wow.
