<— Happy Friday everyone!!! IT’S LIVE 😀 plus a bunch more too!! AND recommendations!! NOTE: If you want to get to the “Friday Finds” quick, just scroll down until you see “Take a look at what we found for the weekend”. But in the meantime…
Friday’s Fun Fact about… Taking Chances (Taking Chances Series Book 1).Remember that one?? Of course you do. 😉 Molly McAdams just regaled us with this fun fact about her book cover! She says (and you can see the image comparison here):
Molly McAdams: I always, always love seeing pictures that remind readers of Taking Chances. It seriously puts a smile on my face knowing a picture can trigger memories of that book.
But the one that always cracks me up is this one. I often get it with something along the lines of: “IT LOOKS JUST LIKE TAKING CHANCES! Are they copying it?”
Well . . . the short answer is: No.
This was actually the stock photo Stephanie Mooney transformed into the cover we know and love as Taking Chances!
Isn’t that incredible?Do you find yourself thinking about stories long after you’ve read them, or do you put them out of mind once you finish them?
VERY COOL FUN FACT!!! And it was a book that did a number on so many of us!!
Dena: I think the best book for what I didn’t see coming was Taking Chances by Molly McAdams. I had no idea that she could do that to her characters, I think it devastated me more than the author. It was a really great book and I remember it 6 years later.
Tasha J: Ok, I was racking my brain trying to think of the biggest jaw dropping moment in any of the thrillers I’ve read and then I remembered my biggest shock of all… when I first started getting back into reading, honestly I think this was like the 4th book I’d read, and I was so into it and then BAM!! Jaw dropped, lost my breath, continually flipped back and forth saying ‘Omg! No way, is this a joke?!’ And proceeded with my first and maybe only “ugly cry”. Lol And that was Taking Chances by Molly McAdams.

Harper: I read twice in a blue moon too and really liked it. I like everything Christina Lauren writes. Her characters tend to be mature and know how to communicate. Thats what really attracts me to them.
Its really rare with the new books in contemporary romance that the H and h don’t linger in miscommunication and resolve their problems in a reasonable way and time frame. I love the character development as well.

- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee <— Nay enjoyed this classic!! AND is now listening to one that I LOVED (as a book AND as a movie!!)
Nay: I finished listening to To Kill a Mockingbird and really enjoyed it. As I mentioned before, Sissy Spacek’s narration was wonderful, and it didn’t hurt that I had Gregory Peck’s Atticus in my mind the entire time.
Now I’m listening to Room: A Novel by Emma Donoghue and I think it’s going to be great! I’m only 10% in, but I’m loving the narration–it’s full cast with each person doing their own part, which is my fave!
Maryse: I LOVED ROOM!!!!!!!!! One of my favorites. Definitely a psych-thriller, but an emotional story of growth as well.
- Evvie Drake Starts Over: A Novel by Linda Holmes <— Michele G 5 STAR LOVED IT!
Michele G: I listened to a really well done audiobook recently that’s been out for a little bit…Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes. It’s women’s fiction and easily scored another 5 stars from me. There wasn’t anything fancy about it – no breathtaking twists or anything – just a heartfelt story about life and finding your way through the difficult times to eventually find happiness again. It was so good!
- Consolation: The Consolation Duet, Volume 1 by Corinne Michaels <— Leslie M is enjoying these from Audible Escape (of which I am also a member!!) 😀
Leslie M: I’m finishing up an audiobook duet of Consolation & Conviction by Corinne Michaels and then will need something else for rest of weekend. I might try more Corinne Michaels as she has lots on Audible Escape.

Happy Friday! Am I first?? Okay then, I’m shooting off the Friday glitter!!
I’m visiting my parents in NC and getting lots of reading done. I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Thanks for the fabulous list Maryse!
How’s the weather in NC? I bet it’s BEAUTIFUL right now…
The leaves are turning – yay! The weather today is a bit yucky with the threat of rain and chilly temps. Yesterday was cool, but sunny – – basically a perfect fall day. I took a nice walk and listened to an audiobook – it was awesome!
Sounds absolutely perfect. That crisp air, and maybe the smell of wet leaves and maybe a wood stove… ahhhhhhhhhhh
We lived in NC for a little while, and I absolutely LOVED it there! We’re torn between settling there or Florida once hubby gets out, but since I love the beach so much I’m leaning towards the latter…
FL.ORI.DA.
*claps and claps and squeeeeeees and bounces*
Please?
I just have to convince hubby…which shouldn’t be hard to do. 😉 I was reading an article yesterday about top 10 places to visit in Florida, and all I could think was how BADLY I want to live there! Swimming in Three Sisters Springs during manatee season?! Um, YES PLEASE!!!!
Can you imagine us swimming with a real-life Manny?? *squeeeeeee!!!*
But no seasons. Fall in Florida can not be the same.
No seasons would definitely be a downside. 🙁 But considering how much I love the ocean, the plethora of beaches would make up for it! Scuba diving practically whenever I want? Yes, please!
Plus, I could finally have a pool. Hubby wouldn’t agree to one here. Because Washington. Boo.
The Beginning and End of Everything sure has a beautiful cover. But like Nancy, I’m a tad nervous about reading it. Might be too angsty for moi.
I’m intrigued by the new Kerrigan Byrne, The Business of Blood. She’s a good writer, but i have a weak stomach and don’t like to read about blood n stuff. I rarely read vampire books for the same reason LOL.
I have no clue how I managed to be such a vampire romance fan when I feel faint at the thought of veins…
*feels faint right now*
*giggle* And here I see veins and want to stick ‘em. Especially the big juicy ones. 😝
*thud*
*thud HARD!!!*
*I fainted*
The one and probably only place where we are COMPLETE opposites, my friend. 😉
*waves fan to wake Maryse up*
Awwwww…if I poked you, my friend, you wouldn’t even feel it. I have over 3000 sticks under my belt so I know a trick or two.
Oh crap, I’m gonna make you pass out again…
*starts fanning again*
I just saw this and thought of Maryse.
https://amp.mindbodygreen.com/articles/this-spaghetti-squash-ramen-soup-is-low-carb-and-keto-friendly
That does sound pretty nice, bev.
OMG YES PLEASE!!!!!!!! I’m going to Publix in just a few minutes to grab some veggies & a rotisserie chicken for the week, and this is PERFECT!!! I already have my own homemade chicken broth. Thank you bev!!
Quick question, does Taking Chances end with a HEA? Just finished Devastated anger management one and it was worth the time to read it, written by a talented author. Also just finished Heartbreak Warfare which I’ve had on my reading list for months but was afraid of the “ugly cry “emotions that I don’t have time for in my life. However once I jumped into it I was sucked in and so worth the read and not quite the ugly cry I was expecting. This is a good rainy day read.
Er… umm… Rochelle. I’m not big on spoiler-ing stuff but….
*blink blink blink* on Taking Chances.
You’ll be “taking chances” with that one. <--- Seeeeeee what I did there?
Rochelle – Oooo, I loved Heartbreak Warfare! I also just finished Devastated by R.L. Mathewson and I loved it! I love her books and this one did not disappoint!
I’ve been on vacation so I’ve been getting some good reading in! I did a mix of rereads and some new ones. I reread One Percent of You by Michelle Gross, The Deal by Elle Kennedy and Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O’Roark. (I also recently reread The Work Wife by CJ Martin and Unbreakable by Emma Scott).
Newer books I read include; The Second We Met by Maya Hughes, I knead You Tonight by Teagan Hunter (this one was a lot of fun! I didn’t read the book before this one but I didn’t feel like I needed to. But this has to be one of my favorite books by this author!), and Devastated by R.L. Mathewson which was done perfectly for me, it definitely had me laughing and smiling, but she also brought a little more to this one. 😊
OMG I remember how Taking Chances worked me over! The love triangle, the angst, the what-the-he!!-is-she-thinking moments, the ugly cry, the healing…I miss those indie days of reading!
The Beginning and Ending of Everything is MINE. The cover is hauntingly beautiful, and the blurb has my name written all over it…dare I say it might be a Marmy? 😉
I have a feeling it’s a TOTAL Marmy!!!! 😀
Okay…so the other day I was feeling really down about reading since it seems like forever since I’ve read a book which just hit all the feels and which consumed me right from the start, like Ghosted, Until It Fades, Transcend, My Oxford Year, It Ends With Us, etc. I have missed reading a book where I didn’t want to put it down, and when I have had to then I couldn’t stop thinking about when I was going to be able to get back to it and have even made myself late because I told myself, “just a few more pages.”
Well, I’ve finally found another one…Parallel by Elizabeth O’Roark. I’m only at 28% but I’m already emotionally invested, and it is already making my heart ache even though I don’t fully understand what is happening. Remember the uniqueness of Transcend and Epoch? This has it as well, and I’m hooked. And the best part is the second book is already out!
Yay me!!
Yes! Those books are amazing! They are super captivating!
Ashley…a girl after my own heart. ❤️ Bet you loved Arsen as well, right? And what about Badger??
I got that and haven’t read it yet. It was an accidental review on another book, and the review was so good, I went to the book and downloaded it. Still, have to read it so I’ll make that next. (unless next on Tuesday. Then I’ll read it after the last Jane Yellowstone book. 🙂 )
OMG SQUEEEEE!!!!!
Exactly what I’m wanting, too. And this one has goooood reviews!! Even better when my book-twin is into it!
Ohhhhh Tessa and Maryse…you guys are going to want to read this one!!! It has me all over the place and FEELING all the feels right along with Quinn. It’s dual POV, but I really need it with this story because I don’t know if I could handle NOT knowing what’s going on in Nick’s head. And Nick… *swoooooooon*
Put it this way…I woke up at 2:00 and rather than take something to help me sleep, I started reading. It’s now after 4:00 and I’m still up! No idea where this book is going but I’m a little scared for my poor heart…
Ditto!! I started Parallel this morning at 5am and forced myself to put it down at 57%!! It’s sooooo good!!
R, right?? I’m smitten with this book!
Thanks to Tessa for recommending Fantasticland. I absolutely loved it. As far as a book for what to read after Fantasticland: Night Film by Marissa Pessel. It’s really nothing alike as far as plot but it has a sorta similar style and scary vibe and I think you really would like it.
I am going to check out Rust Maidens next and thanks for the rec.
I clicked Rust Maidens as soon as I read the blurb! Perfect book for the Halloween season. 😉
Going to be part of my 3 things tomorrow
I’m absolutely hooked on Selena Gomez’s new song (Lose You to Love Me). The lyrics. That beautiful video. Tears… and ALL the feels. ALL of them. “I needed to lose you, to find me.” Whoa.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlJDTxahav0
Dangit…I’m already emotional from this book and now THIS?? *sigh* SO many feels right now…and I’m loving it! *giggle*
