I almost just LOST MY MIND seeing a brand new Taylor Jenkins Reid story (Evidence of the Affair) that just went live!!! That was better than coffee as a “pick me up”!!
- I just reviewed a book that is not at all my norm, and yet it has everything to do with love.
- I’m also reading two books at the same time (“The Simple Wild: A Novel” <— almost done and I’m loving it!! and “No Tomorrow” <— it already made my jaw drop and I’m still in the first quarter – so sweeeeet and SO DIRTY!!), and will likely have TWO more reviews this weekend. 😀

“Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read.
Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died. …”

Being the older brother of my ex-boyfriend, Levi is the one person I could never be with…”
- The Blue Line Duet by Meghan Quinn <— Cheryl loved this one!
Cheryl: Leslie I loved the “Upside” duet by Meghan Quinn. It totally surprised me because she’s usually the author I go to if I want an over the top rom com. This one was a well-written angsty book duet with the “feels.”
Leslie M: I’m only at 38% and have already teared up few times. 🙁 I think its going to be super hurty. I have pretzel tummy…not sure why as I don’t even know spoilers.
- Blade (Archer’s Creek Book 3) by Gemma Weir <— SHE HATES HIM & HE WON’T LET HER LEAVE… “…I walked away from my life to save myself. I’ve moved on, but never forward. Kick by Ali Dean <— ROCK STAR ROMANCE JUST WENT LIVE!! I love this cover, and title… …and let me titillate you with a bit of a blurb jolt… 😉 “…I think I might be addicted to falling in love. *throws buckets of Friday glitter* woohoo! I made it!
Good morning! Happy Friday!
3 things:
1) I’m having a MAJOR book hangover from No Tomorrow. I have no idea what to read next–nothing I look at seems like it will measure up!
2) I’m going to be moving boxes today–half of my house is still on my (covered) front porch from when we got our wood floors because I haven’t wanted to move it back in and clutter things up.
3) Our high school is having an impromptu casual reunion tomorrow that includes 8 years of graduating classes, and I’m going. That means every guy I ever dated in high school might be there. Eep!
*does Friday happy dance in Grey’s glitter*
On coffee # 2 and just had a pumpkin biscotti. *happy sigh* Life is good!
Kind of busy weekend ahead. Birthday party tonight, anniversary party tomorrow and apple picking Sunday. Hopefully I will have time to read book 2 of Blue Line duet. I am DYING to know what happens. We need spoiler tags so I can talk about it. *hint, hint to Maryse*
C M Owens adrenaline rush is out on the 22nd!!!!
1. I also am excited about Alessandra Torre’s new book! Selling point for me was short story. Quicky, perfect little stories are what I need. 😉
2. I love September. I love fall. I love doing fall things and it’s almost over and I feel like I haven’t gotten to do enough of those fun fall things Bc we’ve been too overly busy!! My daughter’s got 2 sports running together right now that each practice twice a week (not to mention games and upcoming meets) and my son’s now got 1 and in preschool and my hubby’s got 1 and there’s this challenging baby attached to me and all the doc. appts. and I just want it to be over and slow down at the same time! *deep breath*
3. There’s this book I’m dying to read- The Lingering by SJI Holliday- and it’s available for preorder on Amazon UK for September 30. But, on Amazon US, there’s nothing. No preorder or release date or anything and it’s driving me crazy Bc I don’t know if it will be here by the 30th too. Or at all. And I need it! I wanna be scared. A little.
Oh, question! What’s a good idea for a 9year old girl for a birthday gift? Not a girly girl (no nail polish or make up or Barbie dolls) and doesn’t much play with toys now a days. I thought about redoing her room with some fresh paint and maybe a new bead spread and reupholstering her little chair, but is this exciting? I dk. And I’m ordering a temporary red hair dye cuz that’ll be fun. But…I dk. It’s hard the older they get. And she has plenty of clothes so that’s a no.
What about new pens and pretty journals and stuff, Tasha? Does she like to color or doodle? Movie tickets? Books?
I’m starting No Tomorrow right now. It’s been a week and I am excited to finally get to it. *sigh* I’ve missed you guys!
1. I love October. Love fall. Hate September. Seriously, wake me when September ends.
2. I really need coffee. Really. Really. Really. Need. Coffee.
3. Want to do extra well at work today, so wish me well.
Tasha, maybe if you let her choose the colors and fabric?
Tasha, we did the room re-do as a gift for my son and he loved it. Maybe you can wrap a bunch of paint samples and let her pick color? We also got giant letters to hang on wall. You can either do initials or spell out her name?! Maybe a cool clock, lava lamp/disco ball type thing, fun pillows/throw blanket, etc.
My daughter is not a girly girl either! We just re-did my 12 year old daughters room for her birthday. Out with the nursery purple and pinks and in with blue. She wanted a beach theme and she loves it. I picked out a couple of art works from HomeGoods and wrapped them up so she had something to open. I think we got my daughter a chrome book when she was around 9 or 10 as she and her friends liked to write stories together and could do it together on the Google Drive. Tasha, happy birthday to your daughter!
1. The Browns won last night!!!!!!!!!
2. My crush on Baker Mayfield has grown exponentially.
3. Today I’m supposed to put my H through the ringer…which should be difficult considering I’m so happyyyyy!! “Alexa, play something depressing.”
Thanks for the ideas ladies! She’s wanted a room in our team colors since we’ve moved in and I made a beach theme, which I adore. It’s got all kinds of goodies on the walls that my Mom picked up from FL, but it was my choice and not hers so I think I’ll give in and do something she wants. Blue and gold though…ugh. Pintrest isn’t inspiring me. I think I need to make a special trip to Bed Bath and Beyond! I haven’t been in one in years. And it’s like, and hour + away. It could be date night! Hahaha
And I love the idea of the notebook and pens. She likes those smelly ones and I’ll see if I can find some funky cool journals.
And now I’ve fallen down the Etsy rabbit hole. I found this cool shop that makes me want to start a journal. Ever heard of a smash book? It sounds cooler than scrapbooking, I think. Easier. So, I liked the saying Destroy Me, Smash Me, Ruin Me, Wreck Me. Sounds dramatic enough it makes me think of our books. Probably not to a kid though. 😉 And then I’m scrolling and the poem, “roses are red, violets are blue, I hate rhyming, *bleep*” lol! I burst out laughing at some of these. https://www.etsy.com/shop/JournalingJane/items
1. Getting ready to leave work to go home and finish “No Tomorrow” tonight 🙁
2. LIke Maryse super excited about new “Taylor Jenkins Reid” book. This author’s writing is in a league of it’s own. KU; short story-1 clicked and I think I can get this read this weekend. 🙂 along with my #3 below…
3. One of my GR reading buddies has already recommended Karina Halle’s new one to me “A Nordic King” and it’s on KU. *1clicked* I think that just maybe my next read. She stated I will laugh, smile, swooonnn, YES Please….
Maybe she will compromise. Blue and goldenrod? Lol.
They have a wreck it journal for kids and it does sound fun.

Oh, I’m diggin’ that one too, Bev! What’s the difference between gold and goldenrod?
I’m reading No Tomorrow and holy heck what am I reading?! I just started and that scene under the bridge….whoa! Lots of questions running through my mind on that. This is going to be like a trainwreck that I can’t get off of, I can just tell. YAY!!
Right Robyn???!!! RIIIIIIGHT?!!!!! *gasp*!!!
Maybe not much of a difference. I think of gold …..like the jewelry or lame or shiny and goldenrod as autumnal.

Yes, Robin–Yay!!!
How far are you, Maryse? Grey?
Did you finish, Jenn?
I read Evidence of the Affair. It was a decent short read. Got me one book less behind on my reading for the year. I’m scared to start anything else because I know it won’t be as good as No Tomorrow.
1. It’s school holidays. Yay!
2. I’m in a bit of a reading funk. Boo. Nothing really grabbing me except a non-fiction biography I’m liking about an amazing Australian pioneer woman’s life. Elizabeth Macarthur: A Life at the Edge of the World. Reminds you how good we have got it these days. Puts it into perspective.
3. I’m on holidays for two weeks. Yay! *plays in Grey’s glitter buckets*
Ooh, good for you, Jan!
Happy Friday!!! Lots of good sounding choices today Maryse’s and a lot of them are KU!
1. Going tomorrow with my daughter for another college visit.
2. Deep cleaned my walk in shower last weekend and haven’t found the time to seal the marble and re- caulk. What a mess.
3. Forcing myself to continue reading No Tomorrow. So far I am not invested in the MC’s. Just all kinds of f*cked up.
*** Maryse I tried to post this using my laptop and have been getting a not secure message and connection is not private.***
I was just going to say the same thing. It says that your certificate expired yesterday, Maryse.
Ok still reading No Tomorrow. Think I have a pretty good idea about Blue.
Cheryl–you may be surprised! I was surprised more than once.
ooh Cheryl the same thing happened to me (about the privacy certificate thingy). I had just updated my browser and thought it was that, but maybe it’s this site.
I just got the security thing too… I just started No Tomorrow last night. I wasted an inordinate amount of time looking for an official playlist and goofing around with R. last night, so I have only read the first chapter. Woke up this am and have a scratchy throat… So it is a perfect day to do nothing but read.
What new Alessandra Torre new book? Haven’t heard about. She’s one of my favorites.
Speaking of Alessandra Torre, reading No Tomorrow has me thinking of one of her books.
Which one, Cheryl??
Good Morning All-
I finished “No Tomorrow” I’m sad because I never wanted it to end. To say I’m emotionally exhausted is an understatement! It was utterly gut wrenching and so beautifully imperfect. It was not an easy journey reading this but so so worth it.
Nay-Just saw your post on whether I finished “ No Tomorrow” I just posted without reading any comments see my previous post. I am so glad I read that and I have you to thank because honestly I have never read a book by her before so it definitely would not have been on my book radar to read. I read this at the most perfect time in my life! I’m still coming down and digesting the emotional highs and lows.
It’s a lazy day here; just got home from work and it’s cool and cloudy so perfect day to snuggle with my fur babies and get my heart in another book. Think I will start with A Nordic King
FINALLY! I’m in. I’ve been blocked for over a day from this site and it felt like I was lost and couldn’t find Home. This page has become a comfort for me. YOU CANT EVER LEAVE US MARYSE, I NEEED YOU. lol (really, though ;))
I was getting super twitchy that I couldn’t get on here!
Don’t ever break up with us Maryse!!! We can’t take it.
Everyone is so distressed.
You know what’s healing?
A hot bowl of ramen and a kdrama.
Ha ha ha. Yes. We need our Maryse fix! Don’t ever leave us, Maryse!
*goes to the cupboard to see whether I’ve got any ramen noodles*
What kind if shows do you like Jan?
Hyun Bin is back in a drama this winter. I know that doesn’t mean anything to many of you but he was in 2 if the first group of dramas I watched. So, Yay. And I like the lead actress. She was adorable in the most ridiculous, but fun drama.
I asked SJI Holliday about The Lingering and she answered that it will, in fact, be available here Sept. 30 on kindle as well, paperback not till next year. And there should be a preorder and she’ll let her publisher know. So, in 8 days this is what I’m reading. Who wants to get scared with me? It’s one of those things that should not be done alone.
Speaking of nicknames in that ridiculous drama the hero’s nickname for her is pig rabbit. He then makes her one.
Ok, so I am WICKED bummed. I did not like The Downside of Love. 🙁 I can’t say much as it would be spoiler, but it’s not what I was expecting.
Finished No Tomorrow…now onto Dirty Headlines by LJ Shen that I know was released a couple weeks ago. I needneed and enemies to lovers… I may have to.ramp right straight into a bully if this doesn’t cure me.
Leslie-bummer-I hate when that happens especially when you loved the first book so much! I’m reading A Nordic King right now; 20% in and loving it!
Jenn, maybe I need to try A Nordic King?!? I do love Karina Halle.
Leslie, yes give it a go-I think you will like it!
The Ice Beneath Her by Camilla Grebe is on sale for 1.99. I really liked this one.
Had yummy noodles at the college open house went to yesterday. I would go to that college for the food!
Still reading No Tomorrow. Makes me think of a few books I’ve read; one (I can’t think of the name but will look for it) the h has a rollercoaster relationship with a rock star and it progresses like I think this one is going to; Rainfall and Black Lies. Hope to finish reading it today while traveling to visit family. Still mixed feelings about this book and the most upset I’ve been is about Acorn.
Oh by the way Leslie, I am so enjoying Hoopla. Have listened to a couple books so far. The one I’m listening to now, Wildcat, the male narrator sounds like Matthew McConaughey!
Think I’m thinking of the Torn Duet by Mia Kayla.
Yay Cheryl! I read (well, listened) to that one and liked the narration too.
bev I like a decent detective series such as Bosch. I don’t like them too gruesome though. Sometimes these shows linger too much on the gruesome crimes or the bodies. Gross. No! Just gimme me more of the mystery and crime solving please. I *want* to watch Game of Thrones but I’ve heard there’s lots of violence so I’m holding off on that one for now.
I love a good costume drama. Loved Versailles – can’t wait for series 3 to come out. I’ve just started watching War and Peace. Good so far (I’ve only watched 1 ep so far lol)
I also really enjoyed Longmire – one of the few shows hubs and I BOTH like and could watch together. We watched the WHOLE series.
I have to admit, I haven’t watched much kdarama. Not that I don’t want to, just haven’t yet. I’ll get there. Not sure whether I’ll like it or not. Where are those ramen noodles when you need them?
Oops. *kdrama
GoT has extreme violence. It’s great though as are the books if you like fantasy.
I still need to watch the last season of Longmire.
There are some costume kdramas. I haven’t delved into them yet. Though one I’m watching, and loving, takes place in the past and future….so a bit costume. The hero is so great, both lead characters actually, but he uses his wits and intelligence to win. It’s seriously attractive and he knows it, lol.
The last season of Longmire wasn’t as good as the early seasons.
