BREAKING NEWS HURRICANE UPDATE!!!! I WOKE UP SAFE! And I still have electricity. YAY ME!!!! It was super scary last night (woke up at 1:30 am until 4:00 am with the winds just howling, blowing on the house and trees bending and the rain pouring non-stop) but everyone I know is safe and sound.
Of course some trees didn’t fare as well (minus a few tree branches that are hanging by a thread but pointing down to the ground). And the main roads here are completely flooded and closed. Yikes!!! That’s okay. I don’t need anything but to stay indoors and read my heart out. 😀
P.S. I’ve updated the list this morning with more goodies, since I still have internet access (and I got a head-start on this list yesterday waiting for the storm to roll in…)
Today’s list consists mostly of reader recommendations from far and wide!!! I haven’t been able to check today’s latest bargains and sales ’cause I am (or was) in the midst of a tropical storm (or maybe a hurricane? We’ll see when it hits!) 😉 So if I don’t seem “here” it’s ’cause I’m without electricity or internet access. It’s rare that kind of thing happens, but it has happened to me in the past (almost TWO WEEKS of no electricity and no internet… and no air conditioner GAH!!!!) so I’m preparing this post in advance to “autopost”. LOL!!
Luckily I’ve got a bunch of awesome-sounding reader recommendations AND some of the recent releases are now tried-and-true because our fellow readers have let us know which ones worked for them! YAY US!!!
No worries… if my iPad runs out of power, I have plenty of paper books to read. Trust me… no electricity, no internet but I’M NOT BORED AT ALL. 😉 See y’all soon!
BARGAIN FINDS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
Loverboy (Dartmoor Book 5) by Lauren Gilley <— LIVE BIKER ALERT!!!!!! A NEW DARTMOOR BOOK!!! And Ela just lost her mind over it. LOL! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Ela: “OMG OMG OMG GUESS WHAT’S LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LAUREN GILLEY’S LOVERBOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Robyn: Maryse…Book 5 of the Dartmoor M/C series by Lauren Gilley just came out! It’s Tangos story called Loverboy! Squeeeee…I have been waiting for this book!
Nancy: I cannot believe it is here!
- Lost In Rewind (Audio Fools Book 3) by Tali Alexander <— LIVE!!!! A GYPSY TOLD HIM HIS FUTURE… “Jeffery Rossi wants to be a man of logic but finds himself basing his life’s decisions on a prophecy delivered at the hands of an old gypsy fortuneteller. The death of his beloved wife coupled with the loss of what he thought would be his carefully crafted future, have spun him onto a path of self-destruction…” Plus! Enter the GIVEAWAY we’re having! :D!! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Bad Apple (The Uncertain Saints MC Book 4) by Lani Lynn Vale <— LIVE!!! ONE NIGHT STAND WITH A BAD-ASS BIKER ALERT AND HE GOT HER PREGNANT! “She never saw it coming… It was the beard. The beard made her do it. That is a good excuse for having sex with a man she barely knows, isn’t it? Yeah, who was she kidding? It wasn’t the beard. It was the way he looked so dejected and solemn. The sad look in his eyes pulls her in, and the way his rough hands touch her makes her stay. All she wants to do is take that look out of his eyes, but the consequences to her actions only make things worse, not better. One day is all she gets, and he’s not willing to give her more…” (and here it is on Amazon UK)
- Dirty Talk by S.C. Scott <— LIVE!!! SHE WAS HIS FIRST LOVE & HE WANTS HER BACK… “Luke Anders tricked me. The deal was sealed before I knew he was behind it. We agreed to be just friends. Simple. Easy. But it’s not just the weather that’s hot in Texas. I was a fool to think I could resist him. He knows how to work his charms and those kissable lips, that great jaw, and biceps. We are here to work, but he has become downright distracting…”
- Locked (PresLocke Series Book 2) by Ella Frank & Brooke Blaine <— LIVE!!! M/M ROMANCE ELLA FRANK ALERT!!! “Sorry, ladies—and fellas—Hollywood’s hottest action star, Ace Locke, is officially off the market! The man on Locke’s arm has been identified as Dylan Prescott, the sexy new “it” model currently featured in the latest Calvin Klein ads…” (and here it is on Amazon UK)
- Optical Illusion: An m/m romance (Paint Book 1) by Emma Jaye <— LIVE!!! M/M ROMANCE & Fabi LOVED it! (and here it is on Amazon UK) She says:
Fabi: I had the honor of beta reading. It’s called Optical Illusion by Emma Jaye. Look at that cover! A five star read for me. It’s a beautiful m/m story. It isn’t light, even though there are many humorous moments. It isn’t completely dark either, although there are some very dark parts. I have no doubt that Chris will melt your heart as he did mine. This is a two book series. While the end of book one leaves you hanging off the cliff by your fingernails,. book 2 is ready and will be published only a few short weeks after book 1 is released. (Knowing me and cliffies, thank goodness I was able to read read the second book immediately after). But Emma does include the first few chapters of book 2 at the end of book one. I guess she was worried about the health of our fingernails. *snort*
I highly recommend this book. It is an original, both heartbreaking and heartwarming, brilliantly told story.
Turbulence by Whitney G <— SUPER-JERK ALERT!!! Another recent release that one of our fellow readers is reading and she spoke words that super-sparked my interest! Already that I was so interested with this tumultuous sounding romance! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Rebecca: Are you reading Turbulence yet?
Maryse: Not yet but I absolutely WILL be. Gah it sounds crazy romantically tumultuous!! I LOVE THAT! Have you read it? I’m finishing up “The Martian” tonight.
Rebecca: I started it last night and I’m about to pick it up again 🙂 it’s crazy so far! He is a JERK!
Maryse: YAY!!!!!!!!! That’s EXACTLY what I wanted to hear!!! 😀 *happy wiggle* Please let me know what you think. I’m picking between Turbulence and El Diablo for my next one…
Zcy: “Turbulence” was sooo much fun. Maryse, you have to read.
- Weightless by Kandi Steiner <— SOUNDS INTENSE & POIGNANT ALERT! “He stole my innocence. He scarred my heart. He took everything I thought I knew about my life and fast-pitched it out the window, shattering the glass that held my world together in the process. I remember the lights. The passionate, desperate, hot strikes of red. The harsh, cruel, icy bolts of blue. They symbolized everything I endured that summer.” And Louise recommends it! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Louise: “I have not put an advice for a book here since a few months but this one is really worth mentioning: Weightless by Kandi Steiner. The writing style was amazing and the story beautiful”
El Diablo (The Devil): The Good Ol’ Boys Spin Off by M Robinson <— CRAZY SOUNDING ROMANCE ALERT!!! YAY!!! Okay I keep seeing this one pop right back up on my feed and it seems the very beginning of the book will KNOCK US out, and that it is intense and crazy and OMG ANGSTY. Plus of course… it’s right up my own book alley! He’s the ultimate bad guy and she’s under “his protection”. I’m thinking I need to jump into it, after the one I’m reading now. (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Heather: Phenomenal Maryse!!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!
Jennifer: Do it now!!! He’s the ultimate a**hole and you still want to be under his protection
Tracy: I’m reading this now and it’s insanely good!
Christine: Still reading…..I can’t put it down….phenomenal, amazing, outstanding and fantastic are just a few words that come to mind!
- EDGE (Gentry Boys) by Cora Brent <— Recent release and our fellow readers right here are LOVING it! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Jean: Fabi, I made it to 11% of Edge and was really loving it already!
Fabi: Jean, I truly love Cora Brent’s writing. It flows right through me. Immediately grabbing me and throwing me into whatever story she is weaving.
- Bad Judgment by Meghan March <— STRIP OR TUTOR THROUGH COLLEGE? RECENT RELEASE BACK ON THE LIST ’cause Teresa loved it! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Teresa: “Just finished Meghan March Bad Judgment it was so good . Meghan write’s such sexy bad boys!!!” Yeah a story about a girl that has to either strip or tutor that bad boy to pay her way through college sounds SO FUN!!!
Furious Rush by S.C. Stephens <— S.C. STEPHENS’ LATEST ALERT!! Back on the list ’cause we can consider it tried and true. 😉 Jean enjoyed this one BIG time! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Jean: “Finished Furious Rush over the weekend. Really liked it. Kept waiting for something really big…..then BAM! At 98% it happened! WTH! I didn’t get the pains and angst in my stomach like with Thoughtless series, but when I finished I got those feelings just thinking about the next book (which by the way there is no mention of anywhere)! Oh and for those of you interested, the entire book is h’s POV. And yes, H does have a heart, kinda like Kellan!”
- Pure (The Pure Trilogy Book 1) by Julianna Baggott <— DYSTOPIAN ALERT! Lisa is announcing this one! “Pure by Julianna Baggot! Dystopian YA.” (I’m thinking she loves it, since she announced it to us like that?) LOL! “There are those who escaped the apocalypse unmarked. Pures. They are tucked safely inside the Dome that protects their healthy, superior bodies...” (and here it is on Amazon UK)
- Wide Open Spaces by Aurora Rose Reynolds <— “KRISTEN ASHLEY FEEL” ALERT! Recent release back on the list, ’cause Rebecca loved it! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Rebecca: I finished Wide Open Spaces too and I loved it- very Kristen Ashley feel…
- The Vixen and the Vet (a modern fairytale) by Kate Regnery <— CONTEMPORARY FAIRYTALE ROMANCE (and SO MANY love this series big time!!) and Nancy found out that the first three books in the series are on super-bargain!! a modern romance take on Beauty & the Beast (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Kimberly: “The Vixen and the Vet” by Katy Regnery is fantastic. I read it, and immediately read it again! It was THAT GOOD! I wasn’t crazy about the title, but Since it’s a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, it makes sense.
- Never Let You Go (a modern fairytale) by Kate Regnery – <— THIS ONE TOO!!! a modern romance take on Hansel & Gretel (and here it is on Amazon UK)
MichelleS: “I just read never Let You Go. I won’t forget it, that’s for sure. Very cool retelling of Hansel and Gretel – what if two kids got “taken” and then formed a bond? Yup. Pretty cool.”
Lauren: Never Let You Go is one of my favorite books of 2015. I’ve already re-read it a few times.
Ginger’s Heart (a modern fairytale) by Kate Regnery <— THIS ONE TOO!!! (a modern romance take on Little Red Riding Hood) (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Beverly: Finished Ginger’s Heart by Katy Regnery earlier. Gah! I LOVED it. It pulled me right out of my book slump.
- The Hating Game: A Novel by Sally Thorne <— OFFICE ROMANCE & IT’S FUNNY! IT’S BACK ON THE LIST ’cause I loved it, and Andrea enjoyed this one, too (in fact, here’s my Book Review)! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Andrea: “The h is so funny. I want to think like her:)… Still getting over The Hating Game. So sweet. It was perfect for after It Ends With Us”
Holly: The Hating Game MUST be added to the list. I’ve just finished it and loved the book. The rivalry between the two main characters is brilliant…. We all love a hate/love read!
- Descended: Alien Mate Index Book 3 by Evangeline Anderson <— ALPHA-ALIEN ALERT! SHE WORKS IN THE ER & HE WALKS IN… and it’s a recent release that’s back on the list ’cause Karla recommends it! “Ridiculously good!!!!” (and here it is on Amazon UK)
- Wolfsong by TJ Klune <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT!!! Michelle fell in love with this one, too! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Michelle: “Fabi, Wolfsong I’m almost finished with but the feels, just THE FEELS! Gah sooooo good, I will never forget this one! NEED more from this author asap. It has that WiR thing where I feel like I’m in the story :D”
MichelleS: Michelle – WOLFSONG!! Yay. Loved that book. 5 stars!
Fabi: Michelle I am so glad you are reading Wolfsong. Everyone I know who has read it has loved it. It went straight into my favorites. I wish I could wave my magic wand and convince everyone to read it. I don’t push books often. But Wolfsong simply must be read. Now that I think about it, my book slump started right after Wolfsong. :-/
Ghostwalker series by Christine Feehan <— MUCH LOVED PARANORMAL SERIES ALERT! Rebecca absolutely LOVES this series! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Rebecca: “This is one of my favourite series of all time! I’ve reread all of these multiple times over the years. Imagine KA’s alpha men, genetically modified to create super human weapons (some of the women too), and working for a secret Govt agency that now want to eliminate their experiments. Written very contemporary/romantic suspense, I connected to these far more than her Dark Series”
- The Chocolate Touch (Amour et Chocolat Book 4) by Laura Florand <— SEXY FRENCH MEN ALERT! Jan was having a book marathon with this author’s romance reads! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Jan: The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand. I’m in the middle of a total Laura Florand craze. I’m in love with these French guys with their sexy, rough exteriors and their sweet, tender, vulnerable centres. Hoh, hoh, hoh… (with a French accent)
… set in Paris and rural France. There are 2 main series which kind of connect. One is set in the world of top chocolatiers/ chefs and the other with perfume/ flower growers/ manufacturers. Neither of which normally interest me that much LOL. But I’m fluvvin these books.OK, there is a kind of a sameness to them to an extent (if you are reading them one after another like I am) but I’m still hooked, and loving working my way through them. Some of the couples reappear in other books and it’s nice to revisit them. The books are sweet and sexy and very romantic. I read Once Upon a Rose first, which hooked me, then went to the Amour et Chocolat series. Some books are better than others. My favs so far are The Chocolate Touch and The Chocolate Heart. Vulnerable, damaged (but sexy) characters who fall in love with each other and heal each other with their love. Sigh……..
Thanks Bev for putting me onto this author
The Passage: A Novel (Book One of The Passage Trilogy) by Justin Cronin <— I JUST ONE-CLICKED THIS!!! SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! Lisa and crew absolutely LOVED it! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Lisa: “Annnnd. If you havent read The Passage yet puleeeeease grab it… The hubby is reading the final book at the moment and cannot put it down. And he is NOT a reader….well not like us anyway.”
And Julie agrees: “Maryse You are gonna love the Passage trilogy. I’ve read the first two and am going to start the last one soon. Immerse yourself in that world!”
- A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught <— WHO’S IN THE MOOD FOR HISTORICAL ROMANCE ALERT!??? Anne really loved this one! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
Anne: Just finished A Kingdom of Dreams and loved it!! I am in love with Royce Westmoreland. I love reading HR set in the Middle Ages, so any good recs?
Tessa: Kingdom of Dreams was so good. I fell in love with that book and went through two paperbacks of it.
Tawania: My favorite book ever …If I had to choose, it would have to be A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught.
Prisoned: A Dark Twisted Erotic Standalone by Marni Mann <— KIDNAPPPED DARK READ ALERT!!! It’s on super-bargain today! “I’d been kidnapped and imprisoned. I wasn’t alone. I shared the cell with Garin Woods, the man I’d loved since I was a kid. The man I couldn’t be with because of the secret. A man who would kill me if he found out what that secret was…” (and here it is on Amazon UK)

Crown Prince Rowan Westringham Tate will do whatever it takes to preserve his small country...” and it’s on super-bargain! (here it is on Amazon UK)
- The Charlotte Chronicles: A Novel (Jackson Boys Book 1) by Jen Frederick <— SEXY NAVY-SEAL SUPER-ANGSTY ROMANCE! MichelleS LOVED this one, and it’s super-bargain priced today! (and here it is on Amazon UK)
MichelleS: The Charlotte Chronicles #1. WOW. Love every page so far…. The angst, the coming of age, it’s so so good. It may end up a 5-star for me…

Great list!!! I just finished El Diablo!! Jennifer described him well!!! A night of insomnia & I finished this book!!! Could not put it down!! Highly recommend it!! I love M Robinson’s book. I have read quite a few of them. Never disappointed!! Next up Turbulence!! I also read Edge by Cora Brent. Love those Gentry boys!! Read the whole series!! All of them page turners!! Heavy sigh!!!! Bad Judgment by Meghan March was so good too!!! Love those bad boys!!
Lisa M you sound like you’re on an awesome book roll!!! 😀
Stay safe Maryse and all of our friends in the path of the storm! And update us if you can!
I finished Author Anonymous yesterday and today I think I am going to jump into White Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout. I haven’t been in the paranormal world for a bit – since my last 5 star paranormal read, Playing With Monsters. Which reminds me, Amelia Hutchins, if you’re lurking… girl, I’m still waiting for news on the follow-up, like, fiending…for reals.
What’s up with everyone else for the long Labor Day weekend?
I highly recommend Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty! I recently finished it and 5 star loved it! It started off a little slow for me to really get into it, maybe 10-20%, but once I did I was hooked! It’s told from the point of view of several friends/acquaintances bouncing between past and present all leading up to this big reveal of what happened at this barbecue. And it’s slow getting there, literally drove me crazy wanting to know what the heck happened that’s affecting them and their lives so deeply and once we find out….! But I also really liked getting to know each character better up to that point, their strengths, weaknesses, quirks, flaws, and their connection to each other. It doesn’t stop after the big reveal either, there are some more little twists to follow and you get to really see more of how they continue on and grow in their lives. I love how she makes ever book I’ve read of hers feel as if I truly know these characters, they’re so real! (And I had a huge soft spot for Vid 😉
How scary Maryse! I’m happy you’re safe!
I’m going to the river for 4 days. No internet 🙁
Looking for a good horror novel for a BR. I remember Maryse reviewing one a while back. Must stalk the site! If anyone knows of something super scary let me know!
No real big Labor Day plans for me. We’ll probably go to the football game tonight, go to the pool a final time or two before it closes down for the season, a painting project, finding something I really want to read, and I’d like to watch a couple episodes of Stranger Things on Netflix (see if it lives up to all the hype). I started reading Broken Prince and really wasn’t into it so I’m giving Lilac Girls a try. I’m in a mood I think, not sure what really sounds good.
Skeletons of Us by Anne Malcom came out today. If you haven’t read Anne Malcom yet, you need to–hot bikers!
Oh I’m all ears for super-scary horror books!!! :D!!!
Tasha I LOVE that author and that book sounds good! Thank you for letting us know!! 😀
WOW this is quite an impressive list. I have to finish my last shiny new book, so I can start Loverboy.
Maryse I have been reading up a storm!! No pun intended for you. I always panic when the power goes out that my reading devices are all charged up!! Priorities!! As for my reading roll, Crow, Reaper & Ghost, an Irish mafia series by A. Zaverilli. I read Crow a while ago & recently noticed the next 2 books out. Soooo good!!! Lastly Mr. Perfect & Mr. Romantic by J.A Huss!! Love this series. Apha males & bad boys my favs!!
Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop is 1.99 right now,
Alright, the Prince and the Player looks really good.
Lisa M I’m loving how much a few of you are on a reading roll!!! This is great!! 😀
Thank you for these leads… I’m gonna follow ’em! 😀
Oh GOOOOOOD deal Tessa. I LOVED #1!!
Read number two!
Anne, have you read any of the other Westmoreland books by Judith McNaught? Whitney, My Love is freakin INCREDIBLE!!!! Royce is an ancestor of the hero in Whitney, My Love, Clayton Westmoreland. Please read it if you haven’t already…..then there’s spinoff books from that one. Stephan Westmoreland (Clayton’s brother), and their friends. Once and Always is another one that is so awesome….it’s about a different couple but set in the same time period & location.
I one-clicked The Passage. I couldn’t pass up that deal.
Horror book:. I want to read Twisted by Andrew Kaufman but I’m holding off until I get a BR. I can count on one hand (maybe one finger) the horror books I’ve read in my life.
Fabi. I just want to let you know The Martian is one of the best books I’ve ever read.
HOLY FREAKING MOLY.
Maryse how scary. Brave people who live in hurricane and tornado zones. And still you meet our book needs.
LOL bev!! I was lucky. That’s all… but I love this area, and the occasional BIG STORMS are worth it, to me.
I have Rocket Man in my head now.
I have read the memory box and it was good it had an ending that you went what WHAT????
And for everyone who has not bought are started reading Author Anonymous should be ashamed of you’re self. You are depriving you self of a GREAT book!!
LOL!! That song is on one of the astronaut’s usb drives. LOL!
*looks at jaw on floor*. Nope, it’s gonna stay there ’cause I can’t pick it yet.
*pick it up…
statements really lose their impact when there’s a typo :-/
Fabi… I’m SO FREAKING SAD right now. I miss Mark. LOL!!!!!!!
I want to STILL be reading that book.
Ah yeah… the coveted book fog. I am SO in it.
Mayyyyybe that will encourage Maryse to read Wolfsong. Utterly, completely, uniquely different than The Martian, but no less in greatness.
Come on, I need two home runs to redeem myself from Illuminae.
Fabi I started reading Wolfsong but I was struggling with the little boy’s over exuberance. Is that weird? That I hiccup over a character?
That’s not a book fog.
I think Maryse is in loooove. Move over bad boy tattooed mma fighters. Astronauts are coming to town.
Oh!!! Just saw your next post. Yea for book fogs!!!
*whispers Wolfsong*
I told her Gann, lol.
Ok, last nudge…both MichelleS and Michelle read and loved The Martian. Both Michelle and MichelleS read and loved Wolfsong. 😉 *peer pressure*
I just one-clicked Wolfsong Fabi… 😉
I dare ANYONE not to fall in love with Mark. DARE THEM.
I don’t even care how bad he smells. 😛 *snort*
But do you double dare them.
Hey, Fabi. MichelleS read Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda and loved it.
Robin!! Scary….The Passage!
There is a moment in The Passage when they are fleeing on the trains when I was positively terrified. Those who’ve read it will know what I mean.
If you’re wanting scary READ THIS BOOK PLEASE!!!
I have The Passage!! I one-clicked that one too!
Omg Maryse is going to give me heart palpitations. Ok ok, breath. At least it’s in the tbr now.
I also one-clicked The Passage but I’m not sure I’m in the mood for it right now.
Bev, I WILL get around to reading that one. I promise.
I’m checking to see if it’s snowing outside. It feels like Christmas time. Jean read Gann, Maryse read The Martian, Wolfsong is on the tbr, and a partridge in a pear tree.
🙂 🙂 🙂
*snort*
Fabi you’re cracking me up!!!
LOL
but joking aside, you can see why The Martian rose to the fame it did. The author put it out for free on the Internet, readers went nuts, a publishing company picked it up, even more readers went nuts, a film production picked it up and it became a blockbuster.
And just think, it all started with an author just like the ones we read every day who had a story he wanted to share with us.
I never feel like I say it often enough. Thank you authors!
Wow… I had no idea it was once indie. HOW COOL IS THAT?!!
Yes, I remember when it was the indie book with all the buzz. Amazing its trajectory.
Maryse, is going to be on a new kick of liking the nerdy heroes. Actually at SBTB they call it competency porn, lol. When a hero or heroine is portrayed as being really good and competent at their job or craft. And you know it is sexy.
Ooohhh Illuminae. Loved that one Fabi…that wasn’t a fail. Wonder when the next one is released.
Finished The Debt Robin and put my review on GR. It went up and down on my star ratings….almost slipped into dnf territory and redeemed its self at around 80%.
Certainly not the best in this series for me.
Let’s just hope potato farmers do not use the book for tips.
Ew!!!!
White Hot Kiss… The Dark Elements, oh, I soooooo understand now!!!
Are you reading it Grey?
First off…I’m so glad you’re safe and all is well, Maryse!!! *huge hugs*
Second…I. Am. Done. Classes, clinicals, assignments…DONE!! *happy end-of-school dance* Not sure what’s next, but I love my hubby so much for supporting me while I flounder in my mid-life identity crisis. 😉
Third…I celebrated by drinking waaaaaaaay too many spiced apple martinis last night and reading Author Anonymous. I just finished it a few minutes ago and…and…holy moly. I can’t even corral my emotions enough to verbalize them yet. Truth be told, I’m kind of a mess right now. I feel like *I* just went through that tumultuous time period. It’s almost 11:00, and I’m still in my pajamas, have just crawled out of bed, and I haven’t even started coffee yet. I want to cry and toss my cookies at the same time. Is it weird that I want to shield Anonymous from anyone ever finding out who she is? Yeah, okay…it’s weird. I don’t even know her but I don’t want her to be crucified if it gets out who she is. See? I told y’all I’m a mess right now…
Gah! I have so much to catch up on and see what’s been going on around here. I. Have. Missed. You. Guys. SO much.
Tessa…I LOVED Dark Elements! Why didn’t I listen to you before?? Oh, that’s right…’cause I’m slow, LOL! My heart still hurts for “him” but I was so grateful for that tiny sliiver of hope JA gave us for him and his broken heart. And the “him” she chose…*SWOOOOOOOOON!!!!*
And Grey! I’m so excited you’re reading the series!! Have you read her other PNR series, Covenant and Lux? Those will always have a special spot in my heart that no others can compete with, but the Dark Elements series comes pretty dang close. 😉
A huge congrats Amy. That’s a big accomplishment.
Awesome, Amy. Congratulations!
Thank you, Fabi and Bev!! 😀
Uhhhhh…*scratches head* What’s up with your avatar, Bev? And are Tessa’s and Grey’s different as well?? What the heck is going on?!?
I still see my old one.
Besides mine I still see Fabi, Cheryl, & R as the same. Every one else has changed.
And Maryse.
I’ve noticed how chummy her and Fabi are right now. And Fabi is close to R.
All a coincidence?
*raises eyebrow*
Nah Bev, your character is a snarling green heart with horns pulling on its ponytails…
LOL!!! Snarling green heart. THAT’S EXACTLY what it is. *snort*
bev? What’s got you so riled up?
Awwwww…. C’mere
*snuggles bev*
OUCH!!! She bit me!!!! 😛
Hee-hee…Fabi and Maryse bonded on Mars. 😛
I have ponytails???
45% into A Torch Against the Night. I really want to peek at the end.
Not sure how I feel about the fact that there are going to be more books. On one hand I like the world so, yay. On the other I like that it was going to be wrapped up, a complete story, in two books.
That’s for the ponytails.
Okay now…
ABOUT THE MONSTER AVATARS!!! UPDATE!!! I’ve received good info!
The monster avatars are “Gravatars”. They are not served from the site, but are served from Gravatar (the maker of wordpress).
The reason they may seem to change is because the site maryse.net does some heavy caching to make the site faster… the gravatars are nothing to worry about
A cookie is set to get the same monster.. but if commenters delete their cache.. or the site updates.. they may get assigned a new one.. and it is random..
NOW… how to control your Avatar (for example – mine is always the same and it’s actually my face) this is where and how I did it:
if you go to gravatar.com (which means globally recognized avatar), you can set one of your own (your pet, your face, something that pertains to you).
As long as you use the same email address that you used to comment on here, the same gravatar that you’ve chosen, will always show up (on maryse.net, AND other sites using the gravatar system)
That said… I’m kind of digging heart-shaped, angry-horned bev pulling on her own ponytails. LOL!!!!!!!
I dunno why, but it’s perfect!
Congratulations Amy!!! That is so awesome girl!!!!
I finished Author Anonymous on Thursday, I so hear you Amy…
Tessa, I just finished White Hot Kiss, getting ready for Stone Cold Touch!!! Its because of you and Amy that I’m reading them LOL! I hadn’t read any of her PNR before, loving it! Mmm, Roth, it’s not the only thing that’s pierced… You bad boy…
Everyone’s avatars still look the same to me???
Oh, now I see Maryse commented and my comment looks stupid LOL! So…um disregard haha! Hi All… *giggle* nothing to see here!
I’m not sure what to make of that…..but it did make me laugh.
Grey, you look like a cartoon sea creature.
It’s time for our August favorite book, but I don’t have mine figured out yet. I MAY know Maryse’s. 😉
Oh Maryse – there’s a psych thriller on the Kindle First list for September.
First, congratulations Amy! That’s awesome. Though, yep, swoon, but I still am not convinced which was the better guy. lol
My August favorite is between two: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas and Born of Legend by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Court of Mist was so much better than the first one. There was so much story, so many twist, it just blew me away. I think Born of Legend was the best of the League series.
And I like my lobster bunny. The Gravitar thing also explains why mine is different on the phone.
*I* could’ve warned you not to hug Bev…she doesn’t react well. LOL!!
And I know exactly what I would use as a “universal” gravatar…MANNY!!! 😀 Although I am missing my little red guy with the wings…on my phone, my gravatar is the same as always but now on my ipad I am showing up as the purple thing y’all were talking about the other day. Actually, it looks like a smashed grape! Or a smashed purple bug with wings. And Fabi is the same on my phone but different on my ipad (she is a green guy with MY wings!!!). I’m so confused!
And Lisa looks like she has her hands on her knees and is going all spread-eagle on us…
Amy take a pic of him and use him.
Right now I’m for get me nots on disqus & a quote on good reads. Not sure what I’d choose for WordPress. Though I tend to change up pictures when I choose them.
The Hating Game would be my August favorite.
Tessa…I think she did make the right choice. It seems like it would have been so much worse for the “him” she chose if he had to walk away. Obviously it was going to be painful for whichever one lost her (and I’m still aching for “him”) but the one she chose would have suffered something awful, at least I think so. Ya know?
Oh Grey…Grey, Grey, Grey. It’s gonna hurt soon. Just sayin’. But the story is soooo good! If you like this series, you HAVE to give her other two a shot as well…and those both have several books each plus novellas! Covenant is my absolute favorite (I love Aiden…always and forever) but Lux has a jerk-face named Daemon who you can’t help but fall for. Now I want you to experience all of them and fall in love with them like some of us on here have!!!!
Fabi…are you talking about Exhume? That one looks GOOD! I’m torn between that one, Who We Were Before, and The Special Power of Restoring Lost Things as to which one I will pick as my free book, but I WILL be getting all three. 😉
Yup, that’s the one Amy. Since Maryse is always saying she likes psych thrillers, I thought I’d mention it.
Amy, I agree, but that didn’t make it easier. It was just all sorts of pain. Also, one word. SETH! Gah, I love the Titan series. You must read that one when they’re finished.
Grey, *squee* Yeah, so happy you are reading that series. Lux and Covenant are even better. Daemon is a jerk-face and Aidan is pretty okay too. 😛 Actually he’s swoony, just not as much as my Seth. 😀
I’m back!
Family moved in with me.
That should explain it all. Is it bad that every night I’m thinking, “go the freak to bed already so I can read at least an hour”?
So, last book I read was Unveiled, by K, Halle. 4.25 stars. Too rushed at the end. Loved the H. I got to use my Jamie Frasier for this guy: he’s a big ole’ ginger. Yippee. And I liked the h too – Perry Palomino’s little sister Ada.
So now what? New one in Dartmoor series is calling to me.
“It was just all sorts of pain.” <——- Exactly!! I still can't believe how much my heart swelled and hurt at the same time. 😕
And Seth… *sigh* Yes, Seth IS all kinds of awesomeness. But for Alex it could never be anyone but Aiden. Pretty okay, huh? Bite your tongue…he was PERFECT!! *giggle*
😀 For Alex, yes, but that’s why you must read the Titan series. It’s all sorts of yummy Seth goodness.
MichelleS…no, it’s not bad at all. Heck, I think that with hubby sometimes. *snort*
Okay, as soon as my emotions aren’t feeling as battered from Author Anonymous, I’m going to read this one…People Who Knew Me by Kim Hooper. How have I not seen it before now???
Yeah, I think I would definitely enjoy a Seth book that’s all about him because I wouldn’t be thinking the whole time, “would you just leave Alex and Aiden alone?!?” LOL!!!
What he did at the end of Sentinel…he totally redeemed himself for all the crap he pulled before then. 😉
All you long time prime users, have you ever found a gem in the Kindle first books?
Bev…I would have to look back and see which books I’ve picked and if I would consider them gems, but at a minimum you are getting a free book every month. 😉
Up until my pick last month, I’ve liked every one I’ve read.
Are we listing favorite August reads? It Ends With Us. C. Hoover.
I TRIED to love Midnight Soul. But I squirreled.
There were two books in August racing neck and neck for first place. It was a photo finish but Broken by Nicola Hasken won by a nose.
Hi all…..
First off Im so glad you are OK Maryse. Those storm and hurricanes you have in your part of the world sound terrifying.
AMY….congratulations!! Well done you! Its a huge accomplishment to study as an adult and one many think about but very few tackle AND succeed at. Be proud.
I am 50% into Loverboy and my heart is aching for Tango. I keep having Archeron flash backs….its all too painful.
Only one 5 star book for me in August and not many books that stood out.
Shadow & Soul by Susan Fanetti 5 stars.
And I liked The Hard Count and Swear on This Life.
(Think Im still the only person on the planet who strongly disliked (thats polite speak for ‘hated) It Ends With Us).
Oh….and Im still a grape gravatar from where Im looking.
Turbulence was freaking awesome!!!! I loved it!! Since I started it in August it’s my favorite read of August;)
Thats my next book Niki….!!
Quick quick! All the Roam series by Kimberly Adams are FREE right now until Sept 8th!
Turbulence was great and would have been better than Up in the Air for me if the ending didn’t feel rushed. I was glued to it though and really really want a sequel!
My fav in August – Wolfsong and It Ends With Us
August was kind of a slow book month for me, compared to July, which is odd… but whatever. I only read 15 books, I had 2) 5 star reads, both right at the beginning of the month, probably why I’ve been in such a funk ever since, and both of them were as Fabi and bev so lovingly like to put it… ‘the death books’ I think if I had to choose… the best, is the one I almost put down after I read the first couple of pages, believe it or not…
The Five Stages of Falling in Love by Rachel Higginson.
Michelle, thank you for the heads up on the Roam series. I didn’t have all the books yet.
Maryse, glad you’re ok. Tropical storms are scary!!
Amy, congrats girl on finishing your classes and clinicals!! *hands a mimosa*
Not surprisingly, I haven’t read Dark Elements, Lux or Covenant series! *waits for peanuts. I need to read at least one of those because, the few times I have read pnr, (based on your rec’s here) I have enjoyed/loved them.
Ok, I think my avatar is different too. I thought mine was a green one. Now it’s brown.
I just finished Turbulent. I loved it, even though there were some editing issues. The H reminded me of Miles in Ugly Love. Both H’s are airline pilots and shut off emotionally, although the H in Turbulent, Jake, is more of an a$$hole. Highly recommend.
Fav August read would probably be Swear on This Life.
Cheryl, your first should be either Lux or Covenant. My favorite is Covenant. but that’s because I prefer fantasy/pnr over scifi. I think Fabi read them and her favorite was Lux because she prefers scifi. It probably means both are equally good. 😀
100% what Tessa said. They are two awesome series.
btw, they are both YA but on the edgier side of YA and as the characters get older it becomes NA
So I’m onto the last book of the series already… Every Last Breath. You’re saying I should go to which book series next??? While I have liked this series… I definitely am ready for a more adult feel…LOL!
Hey guys! Maryse, glad you survived the storm down there. But, I have to rant. I had a 5-day weekend planned at the Jersey Shore and because the newscasters totally trumped it up and our area is prone to flooding, we came home yesterday to PA. It is beautiful at the shore today and they did push back storm to tonight, but who can believe the damn weather forecasters! Ugh so frustrating! Can’t complain too much cause looks like I’ll be reading a lot for the next 3 days!
I’m reading Perfect Ruin, book 2 of Unyielding Series by Nashoda Rose. Spinoff to Tear Asunder series and so damn great!
Michelle, I agree the ending of Turbulence (Not Turbulent like I said before) did feel rushed and I would have liked more too.
Hmm, Tessa, I have to say I prefer fantasy/pnr over scifi too. I’ll take a look at Covenant.
Good to know Fabi, because I’m not usually a YA reader.
Jean…that sucks. But at least you’re going to get some great reading time in. 😉
Grey and Cheryl…out of the two, the Covenant series had a more grown-up feel to me. The Lux series is set in high school so it obviously felt more YA (but not innocent YA, if that makes any sense), but with the Covenant series it definitely felt older because of the setting and all.
So if you’re wanting a more adult feel, go with Covenant. And my love for Aiden and girl crush on Alex are not influencing that. Nope. Not at all. 😛 By the way, don’t skip the Elixir novella (after book 4, I believe)…I didn’t think I could fall any harder for Aiden, and then I read Elixir. *swoooooon*
Oh oh… Amy’s monster changed. :/
I still see her normal monster on my computer.
Also, don’t forget the prologue book for the Covenant series. It’s not necessary but it sets it up beautifully and you totally get Alex even more.
I started Filthy English today. So far, it’s been slow for me. I may squirrel to First Star I See Tonight that I just got from the library.
I think someone commented about loving Filthy English, so I assume it gets better. 🙂 Anyone read FSIST?
*sigh*
All these monsters messin’ with us…I’m so confused. 😕
Yeah, doesn’t take much for that. LOL!
Like Tessa said…definitely don’t forget the prequel novella.
More Alex. More Aiden. Need I say more? 😉
So there are 5 books in the Covenant series??
I guess my last comment crossed with yours, Amy & Tessa. So 5 books and a prequel and novella? Geez, I should have read them this summer.;)
Cheryl…they are addictive and they read FAST.
Trust me.
Or trust Tessa and Fabi since, ya know, I’m not always trusted around here. *snort*
Amy, hahaha, “trust me little girl I’ve got a great book, that won’t hurt at all and here have this great martini and blankie fort too.” Yeh, right!!! :>
I just saw this on a blog post I read. Just a little personality quiz. Based on the Meyer Briggs, I guess. I’m not sure how accurate but they can be fun.
I’m an INFP. A mediator.
https://www.16personalities.com
LOL!!!!!!
Hey little girl, wanna come into my blankie fort? I’ve got liquor and brownies…
😛
Lol Cheryl. Gotta love our Amy.
Ok Bev, I’m gonna go check it out. Didn’t picture you as a mediator.
I can so see that, Bev. 😉
You have a mellow, easy-going personality that I can see in a mediator.
Fabi…aside from when Bev is being her hilariously persistent self, can’t you see her as the neutral type? Not really on one side or the other?
Or maybe I’m just trying too hard to agree with her personality test results… 😛
Bev, that was a cool little test. I still didn’t imagine you a mediator. Mine was pretty close in most things.
PERSONALITY TYPE IS:
VIRTUOSO (ISTP-T)
I’m 98% introverted and 68% observant, the others are all close to half and half so don’t make a big diff.
Nope Amy. I saw Bev as the “my way or the highway” type.
Wow. Bev, me too. I had to take that in high school and college. Every time, INFP. I just took it again, and again, INFP. 😀
I had a go at change my Gravatar to my face instead of a monster?? Did it work?
Urrgh. …* changing dammit. Its ‘cant spell or grammar’ Monday.
*high fives Tessa*
Lol, Fabi. You know how Amy & Maryse are always saying “only in books” I’m like that in reverse. I’m much harder on fictional people than real people.
Ah, ok Bev. That makes more sense now.
Yes, Lisa it worked. 🙂
I still need to go take the personality test, but I had to look at the INFP description…
“While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, INFPs have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine.”
That’s our Bev!!!! 😀
Tessa, I do think the test was so spot on on the friendships, lol.
Mmmmmn. Personality types. Not sure how accurate a few quick questions can really be….besides, I’m a peri-menapausal woman….my personality resembles Linda Blair in the exorcist more than anything else now a days. 😉
It’s spot on on so many things. “will take this asceticism so far as to neglect eating and drinking as they pursue their passion or cause,” *sighs* Just because I sometimes look up and think, oh I forgot to eat, it doesn’t mean anything!
Awwww Lisa, what a pretty picture!
Fabi…”virtuoso” makes me think of Virtuosity and virtual reality and how you love sci-fi. I know, I know…it means leaning towards arts and music but my mind just went to sci-fi word. 😉
Amy, you have to take it! I really want to know.
C’mon Lisa…..it’s fun.
Wow, Fabi. You are an introvert. Mine was 86 or so introvert.
Oooh, you win the introvert contest. I was only 84%, *grins* I just read friendship and yep. Sadly too true. Especially the suddenly dropping off the face of the earth for a while, and then suddenly being there again.
Amy, Lisa, do it! The questions are simple and the answers are fun.
Ok. Ok. Im a Protagonist…..but I’d rather be Dauntless. Hahaha.
How’s the new Gravatar…..’I Sniff Books’…..?
Because I do.
Ooooh, an extrovert. That doesn’t surprise me. 🙂
You changed your gravitar again.
I saw the quick picture of you you put up. 😀 It was visible to me, anyway.
hahaha Lisa. That’s hilarious.
I’m definitely an introvert and my only claim to the arts is a deep admiration for everyone who has artistic talent.
Amy, I love VR games!
omg! You sniff books too Lisa? I thought I was the only psycho in the house. My family has laughing fits every time I get a new leather bound book in the mail. They think I only buy them so I can smell them!
Raises hand.
I sniff books. Hug them too.
I’m obviously bad at figuring people out. Bev and Tessa, both mediators. *Scratches head*. and Lisa a Protagonist. *sigh* I’m always clueless.
Oh oh, do I feel a sniffing club coming on?
Although…I’m not much of a hugger, I do caress them. *wink*
Yes…..nothing better than fanning the pages of a book while taking a deep inhale……aaahhhhh! It should be a relaxation technique!!!
It is! It is! Nothing can take me to my happy place quicker than the smell of. Ink on paper.
Okay, so it says I’m a protagonist and 80% extrovert.
Me?? Nahhhhhh!!!
I’m a little surprised you are not more extrovert, lol. But after reading Protagonist it does not surprise me.
So you & Lisa and Tessa & I.
But 3 introverts & 2 extroverts so far.
Amy and Lisa are both Protagonist!
*high-fives Lisa*
Believ it or not, I do have my moments of being quiet and reserved. 😉
And I miss my red guy.
🙁
I see your red guy with bat ears. I wonder what is going on with a lot of cookies lost?
*High fives Amy*
There’s nothing wrong with being an extrovert Amy. 😉
And youre still a red boxy guy with bat ears to me.
Finally. I guessed a personality type correctly. Thank you Amy. 🙂
Alright… before I post my results.. I wanna know what you all think I’m gonna get *giggle*
Alright I should be doing my chores on my rare day off, but oh well, and that fits in with my personality. I got Entertainer ESFP-A which is pretty accurate.
I took the quiz. I’m a Defender. 84% introvert…..
Michelle, that one surprised me, lol. So….If this was a irl book club you would be our party girl?
Grey, I don’t know all the types but definitely an E. Are you the same as Michelle?
Jean I would have guessed. 🙂
Grey maybe Protagonist or Entertainer?
Jean, this is why you want to take care of all the broken heroes.
Ha bev, that’s exactly what I thought!
Did you notice the list of real and fictional people that may fall under your category?
That Anne Shirley is in mine delights me to no end. Also, Frodo.
Jean, you have Samwise and Watson!
Fabi ‘ s is insane. She is all the heroes. Arya, Indy, and Macgyver.
Michelle, Gob Bluth! He is awesome.
And Amy & Lisa are Elizabeth Bennet and the mother of dragons.
Jean, you rec ‘ d me a book. 🙂 I’ll add it to my shelf.
It says I’m Protagonist. 59% extroverted.
Yep bev, as soon as I read the blurb, I thought of you!
Is that like 3 Protagonist already?
Grey I’m going with ENFP the campaigner.
Lisa, Amy, and Cheryl are all Protagonist.
Grey, I think you’re with us, a protagonist.
Omg Jean, my phone sees your gravitar as something seriously odd. Brown plus sign, 3 eyes, sticking his tongue out, green squiggly arms, spindly legs, and bunny ears!
And Cheryl & Lisa are nurses. Amy just did her clinical studies.
I will preface this with an apology if I should recognize the name, but I’m bad with names and faces. I just received a GR friend request from a Melanie. Is Melanie from here?
Lol, this is where social media is hard for me. On one hand I do not want to be rude on another new people freak me out.
Bev, I just got the same friend request. I tend to look at a person’s profile before accepting and I have NOTHONG in common with her!
Tessa, I know! My avatar keeps switching back and forth. I thought it looked like a piece of poop! Lol!
Bev, haha well I’m not the extreme for that personality type but can I throw an amazing party? YES! I want everyone to have fun and I’ve been told I can bring together the oddest of friends. Who is Gob Bluth though?
Jean, he looks silly. I see your normal blue guy on my desktop, just not on my phone.
I had to google Gob Bluth. I never watched Arrested Development. You got Ygritte, Penny and Peregrine Took. Those are some of my favorite characters. Also, who didn’t like Jack from Titanic?
Yes, played by Will Arnett. That character just makes me laugh.
Omg. I just saw my new avatar.
Your evil heart one?
*cackles and points at Bev’s avatar*
Another protagonist!! *high fives Cheryl*
And a party girl in Michelle!!!
You know what though? I love how there are all these different personalities and yet we have such a cohesive group. 😀
I’m a protagonist!!
ENFJ PERSONALITY (“THE PROTAGONIST”)
Yes, what is that. I need to change it. Brb.
Cheryl, have you seen your new one?
A monkey? Cool!
I would have guessed right again. Woohoo. We have a lot of protagonists.
I believe it. I wonder how many will end up being Protagonist here and why they are so prevalent on this site. Now I’m super curious.
Maybe it’s the more normal/common personality? Anyone have stats?
Bev, my avatar? Not sure what to call it! Some one-legged plop of poop withbad hair and a crazy-a$$ mouth in it’s gut. Hey that’s probably how my gut feels when I read the books Amy recommends!!!! 😉
*snorrrrrrrrrrt!!!*
😛
4%, only 1.5% female. Where I got it from calls the ENFJ the mentor, not protaganist. The INFP is the dreamer, not mediator (which makes WAY more sense). Fabi’s ISTP is called craftman, which I guess is the same as virtuoso.
Maryse!!!! Of COURSE you’re a protagonist!!
The protagonist group is growing…good thing we’re balanced out by the other personalities though! 😉
Mine said ENFJ-A/-T. *scratches head* Huh? What’s the -A and -T?? I need to look at it a little closer…
I’m a T, which I guess means turbulent, lol. For that one I believe it mean to re prone to self doubt. A was assertive I believe.
I’m curious if people’s change. And what aspects.
Like Fabi has tricks to help her teach, but underneath still doesn’t like being in front of a crowd. I have become more outgoing but very easily revert to my comfort of shy and quiet.
However, things like procrastination and neatness I think can be slightly more habit based and changed.
Mine said the same Amy.
And on a completely unrelated note. I just came across this regarding a new tv show this fall. Looks really good. Scroll down to the trailer- FLOVING the first few seconds!! :>
https://www.popsugar.com/entertainment/Us-TV-Show-Details-41332499
True Bev. I’m not teaching this semester. First time since 2009. I’ve always preferred online classes, both to teach and to take. True to personality I guess.
Thanks for the stats Tessa. Those titles make more sense. Still doesn’t seem to fit Bev. lol Bev. I had you all confused.
Craftsman def fits me better. I’ve always been the DIY type although never artistic. I guess that explains why I can design and build databases but always seem to need help with the user interface.
Mentor makes more sense than Protagonist for those here IMHO.
Gosh, Fabi you have got to lay it one. You’ve piqued my interest too much.
I rhink you’re right Fabi, that the other names fit better. Dreamer makes far more sense for me. Bev probably is too. Look at her book choices and joking. Also, one mindedness towards something and just accepting everyone. All of those things are very Bev. Also, if you read the friendship part, it’s so hard an INFP to trust showing themself. In the end, shenever show her true self fully. INFP are too sensitive for that.
Tessa, that friendship thing is so funny. I know people who introduce everyone as, “my friend” and I will be like, “my co – worker”. Even though I like them, and the ones I may spend some time with outside of work. I even have said “work friend”. That went over well……but it made me laugh.
Also, the phone thing. Personal and at work I’d way rather do email, text, or in person than talk on the phone. Well, I have one friend that we can have long conversations on the phone.
Will have to catch up on comments… in the meantime… what is up with Bev’s avatar? You’re an orangutan now? I’m still my brown bunny blob. Oh well.
I am in the middle of Loverboy by L. Gilley. I need a blankie fort and a manatee STAT. This is like Acheron, Z’s story and The Tied Man all in one – except he’s a vulnerable boy and later a man. Oh my poor poor Tango. He’s not a big strong Vampire!!! UGH. Killing me. I am ensured a HEA with Gilley, though, and no cliffies – so I know Ill be okay eventually.
Bev, I don’t know what this means “Fabi you have got to lay it one”
MichelleS, I’ve been hearing that about Loverboy. The title wouldn’t have pointed me in that direction.
I like mentor as a title better than protagonist……and makes sense. My job is placement supervisor at uni which is basically mentoring.
(Amy I was thinking of you…..I am assessing Occupational Therapy students at the moment in their practicals and viva voce exams. So nerve wracking for them!!)
Interesting that there are so many protagonist (mothers of dragons!!).
Errr Bev. Your gravatar looks like a photo of an orangutan?
Oh, and Bev – I took your personality quiz – I am a Campaigner (?). A “true free spirit” apparently. LOL.
MichelleS, I was so curious! Cool, you’re unique here so far.
Fabi – have you read this series? Dartmoor? His story is one I have been waiting for. I knew he had his “demons” from his past, but BOY what a past. Painful. Emotional. It’s called “Loverboy” because that’s all he sees himself as. A toy. A “loverboy”, not deserving love. It’s a roller coaster for sure. It’s a stand alone, but to really get who he is I think reading the others first is best, but totally necessary.
I’m the same as Jean, *up top girlfriend* ISFJ-T, “The Defender”. I actually got introvert but only at 51%…
It was spot on for me… Crazy accurate actually…
Fabi – and there is everything in there that may be offensive to sensitive readers: m/m, non consensual sex, slavery, kidnapping, you name it. But she’s a fabulous writer, and it is done very well. And it’s a story of survival, not abuse. I need some chocolate! Tango Tango Tango – I want to hug him and his beautiful little self. He’s a “beautiful” man – baby blues, blonde, small build. It’s his curse, really. LOVING THIS BOOK.
I’m an intuitive extrovert? Go figure….
Oh, Fabi I just meant what you think fits me.
And your avatar changed too.
Yes, I made me an orangutan. 🙂
I feel like that’s my expression when someone says something shocking or recs a death book on here.
I meant to say NOT totally necessary. You can read it as a stand alone, sure – but the BEST is getting to know him and why these people around him all love him so much.
I’m posting like a crazy woman because house guests are busy right now for like 5 seconds – YAY ME. Sorry for my manic posts. I miss you guys!!!
Fabi – Maryse is reading Wolfsong! SQUEE!!! I have missed so much. Someone fill me in on the highlights.
OH!!! And congrats Amy. Yipee. You did it. You rock!!!
MichelleS, energetic and enthusiastic definitely fits.
So far you, Fabi, & Michelle are unique.
I just went back and read some of the characteristics of my personality profile and it’s early how accurate it is.
Alright, so finally got Arcane Rising (LOVING IT!) and then I get a note from the library that Dragonmark is available. 0.0 I also got Anti-Stepbrother, and pre-ordered Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews and Empire of Storms. I’m giving my card breathing room before I pre-order the rest. I’m going nuts.
Oh, decided against waiting. Pre-ordered The Goal too. 😀
Michelle S….I finished Loverboy last night. Its going to be one of those books that stays with me…I’ve been thinking about him all day.
Kind of reminded me of reading Archeron and just as painful. I love Lauren Gilleys writing and wouldn’t trust anyone else with this kind of subject matter. First 5 star for the month. Yipeeee.
I’m sorry it didn’t work for you Maryse. There’s a reason for his exuberance and it’s pretty heartbreaking. But if the “voice” didn’t appeal to you from the get go then on to the next in that massive pile of books we all have waiting.
Well I only got to 22% Fabi, so I’ll be giving it another go for sure.
Oh and Fabi… did you know Santino has a new book coming out? Inter borough (and it’s coming out October 24th) :D!!
I updated the reading order guide with the new one: https://www.maryse.net/reading-order-guide/santino-hassell-five-boroughs-series-reading-order.html
He does! I read an ARC a week or two ago and five starred it!
YAY!!!! 😀
