Happy St. Patrick’s Day, my friend! That picture… *shakes head* You’re so freaking adorable. π
Sweetest Venom, finally!! I don’t remember many details about Easy Virtue but some moments stand out, like the *OOMPH!* on the last page. And yep, it was a heart-cracker. I wanted to pummel someone…but not who you would think. π
Okay, the menu today is corned beef, cabbage, horseradish and dill twice baked potatoes, and irish soda bread. And these…holy freaking YUM…
https://jelly-shot-test-kitchen.blogspot.com/2012/03/pistachio-pudding-shots.html
Tee hee!! Thank you my dear friend!!
And… I’m eatin’ at YOUR house!!!!!!!!
OMG OMG everything sounds perfect to me, but the dill baked potatoes? YUMMMMMMMM
Ohhhh pudding shots? *claps*
Count me in! I’m coming over too!
AND YES Maryse…how adorable are you???
I would absolutely LOVE having you guys over for supper!!! Cooking for you and then having pudding shots while giving manis and pedis?!? Awwwww, I’m feeling all pouty because I wish it could really happen. And those pudding shots are going to be amazing…I’m using cake vodka and I’m already droolin’ over them.
Those twice-baked potatoes ARE amazing with the dill and the bite from the horseradish. I have so much fun cooking “theme” meals!
Ooh ooh OOH…lookie what I’m making for a going-away party for a guy at hubby’s work…
https://jelly-shot-test-kitchen.blogspot.com/2010/11/unfettered-f-u-n-rainbow-jelly-shooter.html?m=1
Using the stems from maraschino cherries to pop those babies in your mouth??? Brilliant!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!! HOLY MOLY I want it!
P.S. Now I’m looking up the dill potato recipe…
Ela *blush* Tee hee!!!! π
This is very close to how I make mine, except I mix the dill in with the filling and don’t put any additional horseradish, sour cream and dill on top:
https://www.food.com/recipe/stuffed-baked-potatoes-with-horseradish-cream-38360
Also, I microwave the potatoes initially if I’m short on time…works just as well. π
Well you go ahead and eat your amazing “themed” supper and yummy pudding shots while I play with my new palettes! *sticks out tongue*
Maryse- how dang adorable are you!! BTW, your makeup looks great. What foundation/ concealer(if any) do you use? So dewy/glowy!!! π
OMG, Amy that all sounds so yummy. We’re doing corned beef & cabbage &potatoes, but I put mine in the crock pot because had to work, but your dill baked potatoes sounds so much better!! And the shots-ugh.
Started reading Cleat Chaser. Liked the cover and I love sports stories. So far it’s ok, nothing great.
Thank you so much Cheryl!!
I played in a bunch of different makeup thingies today (I have Ipsy so I get some goodies and I wanted to try ’em). I used just a touch of the smash box primer (which is all sorts of oils and supposedly really good for your skin – helps prep it). Probably party of the dewy look…
Then I dusted VERY lightly some bare minerals foundation powder, and over the cheeks just a touch of bronzer, and then a sort of highlighter/eyeshadow/blush (can be used as all three that I just got from Ipsy – brand is Mannakadar in “Fantasy”. The color is amazing) and so I used it on my cheeks and
I also put it on my lids… kind of a glowly gold-pinkish. And then a touch of bare minerals exhale (matte brown) color eyeshadow in the crease and corner.
Also used Illamasqua black liquid eyeliner but I’m not used to it yet, so I find my line is too thick…and then an overall dusting in highlight areas of Naked “mica pigment” (color is a very light gold-beige shimmer). SO PRETTY. This thing is one of my favorite. It’s barely noticeable but I think it too, factors into the glowy-dewy look.
Jelly Pong Pong Curl Fairly lashes mascara – Tee hee!! What a name! (but I love it for every day look – it’s fluffy and goes on wonderfully – but not all that dramatic).
ALL of this makeup to go for a light and “natural” look. π π
I don’t use any liquid foundations or contouring makeup yet. I’m just uncomfortable with it overall (I’m afraid it will be too noticeable on me), so I go for light “dustings” of everything I put on.
I’m Irish… I fully intend on adding some Bailey’s to my after dinner drink tonight *giggle*. My oldest has a Band concert tonight, *whine* I want to tuck in with a book, I don’t want to adult tonight… where’s that excuse Maryse…
Er…. too much Baileys?
*giggle*
P.S. Yum!
I love your happy picture Maryse!
Amy you are such an amazing cook. Everything sounds delish.
hmmm, I think I’m picking up some Baileys on my way home.
You are so cute Maryse! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I’m so excited about Sweetest Venom! Been waiting for that one a long time!
And how much fun would we all have going to Amy’s house for dinner?!?
OMG I would love it, Jean!! My ladies all under one roof? How FUN!!!
Aw Fabi, you’re so sweet! I can’t take credit for the recipes though because I am SO not creative. I really wish I was like some people who can take a bunch of ingredients and whip up an amazing dish, but my secret is lots and lots of recipes made up by other people. π
Cheryl…crock pots are GREAT, especially for corned beef! I love throwing everything together in the morning, setting it, and then by evening I just have to throw a salad, bread and maybe a side together and voila! π
Amy I am right there with you on cooking. I love to cook, and I can improvise with ingredients, but I must start with a recipe as my base. I’m still a cooking noob.
π
And thank you guys!!!! Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I wish I had corned beef SO BAD right now.
Maryse, you get Ipsy too??? Sometimes the samples are “meh” but other times I am so pleasantly surprised…like with that little tiny bottle of Smashbox primer oil, even though I can’t use it because my skin is rather oily as it is so I just end up looking more greasy and it’s GROSS. π But did you get the little Tarte Smooth Operator clay loose finishing powder sample a couple of months ago? It’s so cute! I already have that in the compact form, but the little pot of it is perfect for tossing in my makeup bag.
In fact, I just got my March bag today (how’s that for coincidence ;)) and there is a full-size NYX liquid suede lipcolor in Soft-Spoken (I’ve actually never tried NYX) and a cute little blush/highlighter sample (0.16 oz) in Rose Gold. How fun are the Ipsy bags??
Amy, I use Nyx lipliners and I like them a lot. Very creamy (I use the pale/nude pinks) and I find my MAC ones are hard to apply in those lighter colors, but the Nyx ones go on like a dream.
Amy, twice baked dill potatoes? Okee! π I am Irish and despise corned beef and cabbage. I had to eat it for the first 18 years of my life and now I’m an adult and don’t have to. *sticks tongue out* However, Irish soda bread. YUM!
Oh, and yep, one clicked that Sinners book. I couldn’t resist! Those two are so sweet and fun.
OMG we could start a whole new *squee IPSY* post Amy.
I didn’t get any Tarte yet.
The first two or three Ipsy bags I got, I gave most to my sister (lots of eyebrow stuff and dark nail polishes that I don’t wear). My eyebrows… I really don’t mess with them at all, and I’m all nudes and pinks, so she was happy with the goodies.
But lately, the bags have BEEN AWESOME.
Some of my favorite stuff (these are the things I use daily, or weekly and have actually repurchased full size of)
Acure Cell stimulating mask
Acure Brightening Facial Scrub (OMG THIS!!!!!) LOVE IT!!!!
Nourish Organics Argan Face Serum (pretty much just the same oils and consistency as Smashbox primer) but I can handle oils on my face well enough (as long as it’s not avocado oil – YIKES!!!)
Thank Me Later eye shadow primer – not the best I’ve ever used, but does the job well, and it’s the only one I have so I use it daily.
Me Me Me loose powder brush (daily) but I’ve received some very cool brushes from them and use them all in some way or another.
Mannakadar eyeshadow in Fantasy – totally my color, but I have a million of this color, and it’s shimmery so I didn’t really want it. But when I got it? OMG!!!!!! it is AMAZING how many ways I can use it, and how light and barely there I can go, or how intense I can make it. PERFECT
Illamasqua liquid eyeliner. I usually use mac in the paint pots, but I love their nail polishes so was happy to receive this. It’s GREAT!!! But I keep putting it on too thick… still. I use it daily. I’ll get the hang of it.
Jelly pong Pong Fairy lashes. I LOVE mascara but new ones are NEVER good on me. The only ones I’ve ever loved are Yves St Laurent Effet Faux Cils and Dior Show in Blackout. All others end up a wet clumpy mess so I’m always willing to try but never ever love them. Until THIS one. HOLY MOLY. Not as intense as the two I usually use, but goes on smooth, and buildable and doesn’t flake, and not clumpy and wet AND makes fluffy separated pretty lashes that look natural. LOVE THIS!!!!! I was sure I’d hate it, too.
Temptu warm bronzer (liquid). Nice! Not much to say about it, but I use it and like it. Nice color!
Model Co Highlighting trio. I don’t use it every day, but this would be sort of my “contour” makeup, and when I do use it, I like it. Very cool little experimental makeup toy for me!
Pure-Lisle Blue Lotus eye serum. Just plain nice! I use it every day. Not sure if it’s making my eyes all youthful and such, but I like it!
Smashbox primer oil – just oils, but nice! I’ve been using it for weeks now, no bad reactions, and my skin looks great. I have a very extensive skin routine, so who knows what it is, but I’m sure this is helping. π Nice dewy look!
My favorite? Naked Mica pigment in a goldish-beigish pink. Just fairy-dust-like shimmer that you just brush on lightly and sparkle, or intensify and get all metallic shiny looking. I LOVE THIS. I didn’t even want it (again shimmer and me… eh… and this color is perfect for me but I have a million). And then I got it, tried it and FREAKED! Perfect for “highlights”. Feel like a princess with this stuff.
Hi ladies! I’m alive…barely but I have tomorrow off so sleeping in, here I come π Read Sparrow this week which was ok for me, compared to some other mafia type books I’ve tried. Now I started on The Raven Boys…hmm bird theme I guess?
Oh Amy I’m in love with the Tarte finishing powder! I use it everyday now with my MAC 182. I have combination skin and it really keeps me matte for most of the day. If you guys want a killer thin line, get the Shu Uemura 2R sable brush. I use it with my MAC fluidlines. Just found it last year but I will never use anything else!
I’m dying to try that stuff from Ipsy that they send out every once in awhile, but I keep NOT getting it… what is it again? Glow Mud? Mud glow? GLAM GLOW supermud!! YES. I want to try that so badly. Everyone goes nuts over it…
Thank you, Michelle for that liner brush recommendation. I shall look it up. π
And now I also want the Tarte finishing powder.
Maryse, I have no idea what Ipsy is, but it sounds like something I would like. I love playing with makeup and trying new products. Need to get some of that Smashbox primer; I have the opposite problem with dry skin and that Naked “mica pigment” so that I can have a glowy-dewy look!!!
Amy, crock pots are great, although both my kids walked in and said omg it stinks in here and I’m going to puke. So much for corned beef & cabbage in the crock pot. π
Cheryl!!
Here is the ipsy website. It’s $10 a month, you fill out a questionnaire about your coloring and the kind of make up you like etc..
and then once a month they send you a cute little makeup bag with 5 products inside (all various companies – some samples – but generously sized, and some full sized). Skin care, hair care, actual makeup, makeup brushes, it is SO fun. I use the majority of what I receive, and some of the stuff, if the colors are just not me, or like… the eyebrow products, I just give away to friends and family. Makes everyone happy!

Oh shoot I forgot to mention… I think there’s a waiting list, so you have to put yourself on it, but within a few months, you can get into the monthly subscription and you’re set.
SOMETIMES there is no waiting list. When I got in, there was no waiting list (or it was some sort of no-waiting list promotion they were doing).
LOL Cheryl on the crockpot thing. I love my crock pot. I use it all the time.
Ooooh, you’ve been sent some great stuff! Illamasqua?? Seriously?!? Lucky you!!! I received that Naked mica pigment as well (Sierra Nevada color) and I LOVE IT!!!! It’s a small little container but a little goes a long way on us older gals so that’s fine with me. π I also got a Me Me Me loose powder brush in this month’s bag that looks like it will be good for contouring…speaking of that, if you want to give contouring a shot, the Anastasia BH contour kit in light to medium is THE BEST, for me at least. I picked it up not long ago and now I use it daily, even when I’m going for a more natural look.
Okay, my favorites so far from my Ipsy bags (I had to go and gather them for this list *snort*) have been:
Peter Lamas exfoliating pumpkin facial scrub (simply amazing stuff)
Peter Lamas intensive repair hand cream
Smashbox Full Exposure mascara
It Cosmetics Hello Lashes (I love the brush on that one!)
Hanalei sugar lip scrub
Tarte Smooth Operator finishing powder
Naked Cosmetics mica pigment
Bella Pierre Mineral Blush in Desert Rose
Hey Honey Open Your Eyes Contour Lifting Fluid
And I now have makeup bags up the wazoo, but I’m not complaining!
But they have a waiting list?!? That’s not cool at all. π CHERYL!! Put yourself on the waiting list if you can’t sign up right now…you’ll love it!
Michelle, you’re here! *hugs* I am trying out that brush…it sounds perfect for my gel liners. I’m starting to get hooked on cosmetic brushes now so I’m always on the hunt for new ones. Oh, and if you’re looking to continue your “theme” then you need to go with Crow’s Row next, LOL!!
Cheryl, did you tell your kids that stink was their dinner?? Either that or it’s a fend-for-yourself night! *snicker* Hey, you were a good momma and made them dinner so they can deal with the scent. π
Tessa…I love corned beef, but if I had to eat it all the time growing up then I would be thumbing my nose at it as well. π And the potatoes were DIVINE tonight…you need to try them out!
…aaaaaaaand now I’m going to polish off those pistachio pudding shots. Three down and I’m a-feelin’ gooooooood.
Not like anyone here will notice since there’s NO ONE hanging out with me here right now since y’all have more important things to do than listen to a buzzed woman blabber on. π
Still love y’all though!!!!!!!
Those shots sound good enough to be dessert. Yuuum.
I may be a little late but I can still hear the echos of buzzed woman. You go ahead and blabber all you like. If I don’t laugh tonight I promise to laugh first thing in the morning when I get up.
Maryse. -great picture! You had your ‘shine on’!
Grey – yummmm, Bailey’s.
Amy- party at your house!
I’m actually pleasantly surprised with the NYX liquid lipstick! My obsession right now is Anastasia BH lip glosses (so much pigmentation in those glosses!!!!!) and their liquid lipsticks as well, but I’m going to try out the NYX lip liners after seeing how nice the liquid lipstick is and your lip liner rec.
Do you review the products after getting the bags? I haven’t been consistent in reviewing them, but I’m going to go back and review every item because I read that the more you review, the better your samples…YAY US!!! π
I do review them (and honestly – not just “I like the color) LOL! ’cause I want points to get some of the freebies rewards!!! π
My lippies and have been for YEARS are:
Lancome La Laque Fever Lipshine (I have a mauve color that is very neutral and perfect and just a bit more “deep” and I like for night, or winter) and a light delicate peachy pink (called “spot pink” more pink for day or spring & simmer). It has some SERIOUS staying power,
and then I coat them in Bare Minerals BUXOM lipgloss (nice fresh tingle, thick and has great staying power too – my lips DO look plumper when I wear this). “Dolly” gloss goes over the mauve and “Dani” gloss goes over the Pink.
Of course I line in MAC liners (“dervish” for the pink, and “whirl” for the mauve), but I lost my “dervish” somehow, so I am trying the Nyx pinkish nude liners and loving them too.
Oh, and you would LOVE the Tarte finishing powder, Maryse…I’m not exaggerating when I say it is becoming one of my favorite brands!
Fabi…laughing with me or at me? π I recommend laughing AT me, ’cause that’s what my buzzed/drunken ramblings deserve. *snort*
And DG…yes!!! I’d have a party at my house anytime for you guys!!
We all need to go to Amy’s new house with house warming gifts!
Maryse- Yeh, I signed up for Ipsy and initially I was wait-listed then the next email said I was off the wait list and will start next month. Can’t wait. Thanks for telling me about it! π
Amy- my daughter ate a peanut butter and jelly & nutella sandwich instead and my son went out to dinner with his girlfriend to celebrate their anniversary- ugh he’s only 18! Think I need several of your pudding shots!! Hubby said agreed about smell but corned beef & cabbage was really great!
YAY Cheryl!!!
I’m so glad you didn’t stay on the waitlist long!!! *hug* It is SUCH a fun monthly little treat, and like I said, I use the HECK out of my goodies.
Just signed up for ipsy! Hope I’m off the waitlist as soon as Cheryl! Thanks for this great info girls!
Fabi! You guys could all bring a bunch of different liquors as housewarming gifts and we could go crazy making every drink imaginable! π
I’m so excited for you, Cheryl and Jean! Getting that bright pink bubble wrapped envelope with all of that good stuff in the mail every month is so fun.
And Cheryl, that was NOT NICE of your kiddos after you made them a St. Patrick’s Day supper. They need to make you supper now. I remember being 18 and celebrating every anniversary…first kiss anniversary, first date anniversary, 6-month anniversary, anniversary of getting back together, BLECH!! But it seemed just SO important at the time. *rolls eyes*
Whew I got some errands done, house cleaned and I just feel better! Amy, I’ve read Crow’s Row what else avian do ya got π
Amy and Maryse try the brush and report back if you do. I literally squeeed in real life the first time I used it annnndd unlike so many thin liner brushes that start off good and go downhill, it holds up and retains the sharp point.
The Tarte loose powder is better than the pressed just fyi. I have the shadows and especially the mattes are very good.
lol Amy. It sounds like it might turn into a slumber party. Especially since I tend to fall asleep after 2-3 drinks.
Well crap, Michelle…now you’ve gone and thrown down a challenge for me. That’s okay, I’m up for it!
And I’ll let you know as soon as I pick up that brush and try it out. I wear gel liner 90% of the time when I wear makeup so I’m definitely open to trying a new brush like that.
Michelle, that’s a busy day off. *never telling Michelle about my lazy days off*
Oh no, no, no Fabi…I would keep waking your a$$ up if you conked out. π
Lol Fabi I hadn’t cleaned in almost two weeks with my schedule though but don’t you worry Sunday is all about doing nothing!
Amy, not sure I would want to eat what my kids made, although really need to step it up since my son goes to college in the fall.
He got a cute mug from his girlfriend that says “we fit together”. One, he doesn’t drink coffee or tea and two all I kept thinking was yep you guessed it, what fit together really means!! Bleh!!!
Oh geez… you guys said Tarte… I thought you said Tate… and I had a Bully moment… I need a minute..
Oooooh, lippie talk now!!! π I love my MAC Whirl lip liner too! I have the matching lipstick, but it is a little dark so I usually wear it when I do a cat eye (and maybe false lashes) with a very light, neutral eye shadow.
I have so many favorites for my lips (my lipstick/lip gloss/lip liner collection is ridiculous :?), and I alter my lip colors and shades to the occasion as well as my eye makeup, but my standbys and go-to’s for daily wear (after applying MAC Prep+Prime for lips…ALWAYS) are:
Lip liner: Bare Minerals in Liberated for a lighter lip, Whirl for a darker lip.
Lipstick: MAC Pillow Talk (OMG I love this one…I picked up three of them because I read it wasn’t going to be permanent) and MAC Huggable lip color in Rich Marron, and for a more reddish or brownish lip I go with NARS Tanganyka. I also love, love, love my YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Beige Instinct.
Lip Gloss: Anastasia BH lip gloss in Kristen (light) and Sepia (darker), Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie (tingles like the Buxom ;)) in Marvelous, and for a more reddish/brownish color MAC Cremesheen Glass in Enchanter.
Lip Crayon: MAC Patent Polish in My Flip Side, MAC Velvetease lip pencil in Oh Honey, and Tarte LipSurgence matte lip tint in Exposed.
Aaaaaaand now I have to go check out your colors, Maryse… π
