<— This cover and title (Big Rock) makes me giggle!!!! And it’s live!! This one was just released a day or so ago, and a few in our reading crew are getting a kick out of it!
Lauren: The blurb is what makes ME giggle. The motion of the ocean….
Maryse: *snort* 😛
Cheryl: First line: *tee-hee* “My d*ck is f*cking awesome.” Big Rock, by Lauren Blakely. Makes sense since the author wanted the R on the cover to look like a C.
Anne: (that cover! Yummy!!) Oh Big Rock is from the guys POV?!? I love those!! *Drew I am looking at you!
Fabi: Big Rock is great… It’s cute and quirky and fun…
Anne: Finished Big Rock and loved it! Spencer is hilarious! It was just what I needed; a quick, fun, sexy read

Dean…Nick….Caden!!! how do i choose which one I want first!!!
Call me crazy, but I’m going to try The Path by Michael Padilla. A new adult romance by a male author? The blurb sounds great. There are no reviews either on Amazon or Goodreads so I’m going in completely blind, and…I like that.
All over Big Rock. That sounds terrible………. I love starting fun reads on fridays! Thanks Maryse!
Maryse, Rachel Robinson and Suanne Lacquer new releases next week
Big Ones
The blurb for One Day Soon…OMG how enticing does that one sound? And I loved the other ones I read by her, Find You In the Dark (that ending…oh, my heart) and the sequel Light In the Shadows and then Bad Rep, which was all kinds of swoony, angsty FUN!!
And then Unhinge…apparently it’s the story of the lady in psych hospital who carried around a doll and thought it was her real baby. Here’s to hoping for some mind-messery from that one. 😀
Fabi, I thought that one sounded good too and I like the cover, but didn’t notice it was a male author. Interesting he also wrote The Ultimate NLP Persuasion Book: Learn Scientifically Proven Ways to Influence People. Weird…
Finished reading Big Rock. It was a funny, lighthearted read that had a wrapped up with a pretty bow ending. Kinda like overdosing on candy.
Theresa… *squeeeee* on BOTH. I want t read BOTH!!!!
And I JUST noticed there is an typo in the blurb, Cheryl… which always bugs me a little.
I’ll wait for Fabi’s “feel” … it sounds good (like our kind of read), but the blurb needs some work in a few ways, I think.
Amy, I put both on my wish list. I thought Unhinge reminded me of another book and found out the book Unravel is by the same author. Doesn’t look like it is a continuation of the same story. Didn’t you read that one?
Fabi – did you abandon LotBD? Just for now? It took me a little longer to connect, but in long run was so worth it. Michelle, she never even got to meet Wickham! Hope you revisit it.
*whines* Fabi, you better not havveeee!
Cheryl…that’s what I *should* have put in my comment, that the woman carrying the baby doll was from Unravel. And yes, I read and really, REALLY liked it.
Also, she is the author of Every Which Way and ohhhhhhhh my… *fans self* And it’s finally available on Amazon again!! 😀
I haven’t abandoned LotBD. I’m just in a reading funk. I’ve started 5 different books since yesterday and I’m considering whether to go for number 6 or go to sleep at 8:30 pm.
I’m at 8% of LotBD.
Ah, that always sucks Fabi. Maybe just tired?
Are you in the mood for any thing or do you want us to throw random recs your way to sample? Lol.
Id totally throw Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda
Heads up.
lol Bev, I probably shouldn’t attempt it in this mood.
Fabi, maybe a Jennifer Armentrout UF series? Covenant, Lux or Dark Elements…just throwin’ all that out there.
Fabi, did you read Crazy Good?
Fabi, did you read The Man that I Love? These books are the first out of 3 books with the third coming out next week.
Ask Marsye she has read both.
Did Fabi read Badger???
Hey everyone, crawling out of my migraine bubble. Feel slightly more human today…but almost like I’m on the edge of another to come… Gah,I hate that. I have far too much to do, and to read, this weekend to be sidelined with a stupid headache. *cue temper tantrum*
Finished Blindfolded Innocence, thank you Tessa… It was a much more *innocent* read than LoA, and that Brad DeLuca… What a naughty hunk of man candy that one is…
I’m debating whether to jump into Big Rock or dig into Break Even… I think Big Rock is gonna take it… Just because Cheryl didn’t edit the curse words out of her FLT post and it made me giggle yesterday when everything else made me want to cry yesterday so… Yeah Big Rock wins LOL!
Oh Grey you aren’t reading the other Brad Deluca stories. I had to read them all straight through.
Finished Worth It and loved it! What happened to Knox was so awful and painful to read. It was an angsty read but so full of love. *sigh*
Don’t know what to read next. I want something fun. Any suggestions?
Darn AUTO-CORRECT!!
Here I am faulting a blurb for the typos and auto correct goes and changes stuff in my own comment to make it seem like I don’t know how to spell. LOL!!!! 😛
Er… maybe that was me? *snort*
Oh Badger! My heart still aches.
Wait…what? Theresa… There’s more DeLuca stories???
Oh yeah!
Masked Innocence and End of Innocence. Not sure if that is current order. Seems there was another but i didn’t read maybe it was a retelling????
Can’t remember.
Grey, I did not read Diary of Brad DeLuca. He is the lawyer in Hollywood Dirt as well, but just a mention or so.
Yep, more sexy Brad to go. 🙂 I’m tempted by Big Rock, however I’m loving Blur right now. 😀
Hey everyone! I’ve been MIA for a while on here. Work has been atrocious and I got sick over Christmas with a nasty case of the flu. Add familial obligations and it leaves little time for me. *sad face* BUT.. I’m back. 🙂 I made a New Year’s resolution to tackle my TBR list or AKA the “Infinity List.” I’ve been hitting hit it hard so I’m proud of myself. It’s January 8th and I’m already read 8 books this year!
A series on that list was the “Chicagoland Vampire” series by Chloe Neill. I started on January 3 and I’m already on book 6. I went through a mafia romance phase over Christmas and then decided to go back to paranormal. This series has been on my list for a bit. It has really knocked my socks off! I had one of the biggest “WTF” moments of my reading life while reading book 5. I literally had to put my kindle down walk away, and take a few breaths. I kept repeating to myself… “No way. No way. No freaking way! Oh. My. God!!” *shaking my head* then *silently screaming (don’t want to scare the kids) then *stomps foot repeatedly in bathroom* Needless to say… I’m loving it! It’s suspenseful romance. Think paranormal Nancy Drew with a side of romance. The books are a bit pricey, but it’s worth blowing my book budget for it. I haven’t devoured a series like this since Jennifer Armentrout’s “The Covenant” series. I’m literally in book heaven…. *SQUEE*
I hope everyone is doing well! I’ve missed you guys!
I may have to try and put a list together for Maryse of my top reads for 2015. I think my reading this past year topped around 210 books. I had such a great reading year. It’d be hard to tackle that list but I think it could be fun! I can sit and reminisce about all the beautiful book boys I met this past year… *swoon* Cue the wine and chocolate! 😉 How would I get my list to you Maryse?
Yay Tessa! Glad you’re loving it.
Fabi Im feeling your book funk too. I just need a ‘blow me away’ book to get me going again.
I’m at 80% of Built and its good…but not AMAZING…usual story line, usual hiccups, usual chemistry.
I read Dirty Billionaire 1 & 2 which were awesome, but had freaking CHs…gggrrrrrr. And were so short they should have been published as one book. The 3rd is out next week so I’m not completely furious about it.
Think I’ll squeeze The Score in next week when its released then try Bev’s latest bully (I mean buddy) read….like I’d be game not to 😉
Captive Prince.
Oh Cristina, I love Chloe Neill’s series. That is a very good description of the series, new one coming out soon. Fresh take on paranormal series.
Another similar but a bit heavier is the Anna Strong series ny Jeanne Stein.
Although the last novella was a flop for me.
Woah! I had recs flying at me from every which direction. You ladies are so awesome! I ended up going to sleep last night. But I have most of those on my tbr. Thank you so much for the reminders to move them up and read them. I have to finish at least a couple of the ones I started reading in the last two days then I’m going to be in rec heaven. 🙂
Hmmm Fabi-The Path? Sounds a little out of my zone but you have good book taste so I think I will try it. And I also like the fact that a guy wrote it.
Hi girls! I have a question for you…I’m undecided to start to read The Man I Love (The Fish Tales #1) by Suanne Laqueur…I know that many of you are in love with this series! so my questions are: the first book have a male POV? and the series must be read in order? last question: What should I expect? angst?cheats? I dont know why but I’m hesitate to read this book because I afraid that the H is a jerk…just a feeling!
Teri, I haven’t read it yet so I can’t offer a rec or anything. It caught my eye on Maryse’s list.
Fabi, I know you haven’t read it but I just bought it so we will see how good it is.
Whew….*mopping brow* Just wanted to give a shout out to thank Anne for her top book recommendation of Rush by Emma Scott. After inhaling Rush and the novella (which were AWESOME!), I devoured the rest of Emma Scott’s books on Amazon. Love, love, loved that each book was very different than the other – no similarities here! What to read over the weekend until BIG Monday???
Finished Big Rock a few days ago. A very sweet, fun, sexy and safe read – no angst here. But Lauren Blakely when she is best 🙂
An awesome read which is in the top 10 on iBooks (#1), BN (#6) and Amazon (#9)
Thanks Pia! Mr Big “Rock” sounds interesting…..the blurb reminds me somewhat of Dirty Billionaire by Meghan March. Or least “the Man” has the same attributes. *swoon*
MichelleS, 26% into Jacked
I’m really enjoying it. But didn’t realize it was 500 pages, lol.
Yaay DG so happy you liked Rush! Emma Scott is an amazing writer. Need to read more of her books.
I started The Fall Up by Aly Martinez and loving it! Sam is swoon worthy!
Guys! Only 2 more days for The Score!! *happy dance*
Pia I loved Big Rock! So fun! I love when books are from the guys POV. They always crack me up lol
DG, if you liked Rush, dip into Karine Halle, latest is the Play but if you want the other family start with Th Offer then The Play.
Bev, Jacked by Tina Reber? Been waiting fior Amped forever
Anne, loved Fall Up. I heard she is doing a second book
Carlotte. I read The Man That I Love. And the next and Here to Stay is coming out next week no pre order. Started out a littke slow for me but then picked up. So stay with it.
Angst yes, cheating just a mistake which caused the angst. They were in college.
So goodI am can’t wait until the 14th.
So start reading. Unusually very very good
Loved The Fall Up Anne! Glad to hear there’s a follow up.
I finished The Law of Moses last night and absolutely loved it! Thank you Tessa for that recommendation! I was going to jump right into Song of David, but had it in my head that Jellicoe Road would be next for me and once I started, couldn’t put it down! Why didn’t I listen to bev sooner?
Theresa – do you need to read The Offer prior to The Play? Or are they standalones?
Excited for what I am calling “Big Monday” for several releases I have been waiting for …The Score, Sebring, and Aced. Hot Dog! Bring on 2016 with all these great reads! Woohoo! (Rev’d up on coffee!)
Theresa that’s the one. MichelleS has rec’d it since she read it.
Jean I wonder about that all the time. 😉
DG you can read as standalone. Just remember when you read the other couples names they are her friends and his cousins in US. You will probably go back eventually a read the others.
Marsye had good review of it and I’m not sure she read all the others before.
Bev and MichelleS Tina Reber says on FB that Amped is coming, not sure it will be that soon..
Awesome!
Jean, woot! I’m so glad you liked it. I was pleasantly surprised by it myself. 🙂
Lisa, yep. Loving it. I’m almost done. I love Jesse.
Christina, book 5! *clutches chest* Now that was beyond angst. I remember reading it and saying, “What? No. Just no. Wait, huh?” Then I went into utter shock. There may have been stomping and crying and screaming involved too. 🙂 Then, I read six and cried, stomped and kicked some more. Did I mention kicking? Enjoy the rest! It’s one of my favorite PNR finds ever.
Yes Tessa, pleasantly surprised would be my exact reaction, especially since what I was thinking was going to happen was wrong.
Exactly. I have to read Infinity + 1 if it’s better.
I keep hearing about the Chloe Neil series on a blog I read. So you ladies like them?
I really like Chloe Neill, I must preorder for me. Not yoo many I kerp up with anymore but that is a fun read. New book out march 1. I’m going to say you shoukd read in order. I think you will get lost. But quick reads
I finished Abruption. I liked it. Wasn’t crazy angst and you were told the secret for one of the main characters early on and the other one I figured out before it was revealed. Then there was another “twist” that you can kinda see coming. I also liked it because the MC were a nurse and doctor and being a nurse I appreciated the medical “talk.” Started reading the authors, yes it’s 2 authors previous books to bide my time until the BR of The Score. The first book in a 2 book series, even though I *think* each book is about 2 different main characters and their stories, but their stories are interrelated. (if that makes sense). Also, book 1 has the H from Abruption prior to what happened in that book. Also set in the medical environment. 🙂
Chicagoland Vampires is my first Chloe Neill series, but she’s got another one too. I really am loving this series!! It’s not just vampires, but shifters, fairies, nymphs, sorcerers, etc. The vampires belong to certain houses and there are three in Chicago. They each have a hierarchy with the “Master” at the top. This series follows Merit who becomes a vampire and joins Cadogan House. The Master, Ethan Sullivan, is the only one who creates the vampires (this is a standing rule for all houses). Then of course there is a group that oversees all houses. It’s told completely in first-person (Merit’s perspective). Neill does a fantastic job keeping it interesting for the reader. Normally in a long series, I have a tendency to lose focus the longer I go, but surprisingly this series has kept my attention so far. That speaks volumes for me. There really is a lot to these books and I could really see this as a tv series. My best description is paranormal Nancy Drew with some romance weaved into it (Ethan/Merit). Definitely recommend!!
Cristina very good overview and I have read them all.
Thanks Theresa! I always love finding an awesome paranormal series. It’s nostalgic and reminds me of why I fell in love with reading. 🙂
Bev, I agree. It’s one of the better PNR series. It’s an insta-buy for me.
I only The Offer and The Play (read the first one, and the last one). I haven’t read #2 yet, and I had no problems following. So while characters re-appear in each book (for series “fun”), they are each written as standalones.
lol.
Just realized that when I opened page that Big Rock cover is first thing that I see and I look behind me while quickly scrolling down. Yes covers still embarrass me.
It is very quiet on here today. A few more hours until reading time. Hopefully tomorrow will only be a pajama day. Love those days, just reading. Well maybe interrupted here and there with some shows I keep meaning to watch.
“So while characters re-appear in each book, they are each written as standalones” ——–> Maryse, that’s exactly how I was trying to describe the Beautifully Awake series.
Grey, glad I made you laugh. I was not thinking when I cut and pasted that first line quote!!
You have to read the rest of the Innocence trilogy- Masked Innocence and End of Innocence. There is also the Diary Of Brad DeLuca. I loved this trilogy and Alessandra Torre is one of my fav authors!!
I finished Shadow and Bone. Moving on to book two, I liked it that much. Maybe 4.5 stars? Only because half of this e-book was previews at the end, so it was over before I was ready! Great start to a new fantasy series (new to me) if anyone is looking for that.
Finished The Fall Up and loved it! Sam is my new book boyfriend! Why can’t I find someone like him? Lol Oh and I want a book with Henry. He’s so funny and amazing!
I am going to re-read Painted Faces. It was a year ago that I read it for the first time and I’ve been meaning to read it again for a while now.
Anne, I heard the follow up of The Fall Up is about Henry.
Theresa really?!? YES!!! I can’t wait for his book!
Read Big Rock, 4* for me, a fun read, no big angst or pretzel tummy… So a quick read. Thanks again Cheryl *wink*
Ela, how are you feeling?
Tessa…did you finish Lmwl series??
Amy where are you??
I will go back now and read the rest of the DeLuca books if I have them… If not I have to wait for Friday payday LOL!
Hi ladies!! I did a whole lot of sitting around waiting today but at least I got some reading time in that way. 😀
I’ve been a good girl and stuck to my reading challenge so far. Since January 1st, I’ve read a book bought in each year from 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013…so now I get to read Missed Connection! Yay me!!
Ya hear that, Jean?? I. Stuck. With. It. Whatcha got to say now, huh? *leans over and cups ear* 😛
I’m reading both Missed Connection and Jellicoe Road! So far… Missed Connection is only okay for me. No real conflict, and the writing isn’t grabbing me. It’s just… I dunno. A few misses for me so far: her daughter encouraging her (I don’t buy so much – if you read it, you’ll see why I say that – it made my eyes bug out) and they’re already SO intense with each other when really they only met by chance once, 20 years ago and chatted for awhile before parting ways, so how “in love” they are right now is also a struggle for me… and just the whole ease of things, as a whole. i know poop is gonna hit the fan soon (because of something she has to contend with) but overall, I’m halfway through and it’s just ok.
Jellicoe Road is kind of a hard-start for me. It’s full on into a story and I really don’t have any idea what’s going on. What with all of the characters names right from the start, and the school terms, a territory war, and groups, and… ? I dunno. I will be getting back to that for sure because you guys love it too much, and the backstory (orphans or abandoned teens) really interests me. I think I just have to “find my rhythm” in it.
Bev…Jean is reading Jellicoe Road!! *points at Jean* I would hug you, but I’m pretty sure this would happen…
https://giphy.com/gifs/cheezburger-cat-fighting-back-off-LhPbzBsj4snxC
*snort*
Morning all… *watches tumbleweeds roll by* sure is quiet in here this weekend, I’m sure everyone is just ramping up waiting for Tomorrow! and the release of The Score.
Which will be the release date of the official buddy read of the Wolf Pack/Bridesmaids group of the year. *dusts off my shot glass* *giggles because Amy’s shot glass needs no dusting off* “here’s to us*
Almost done with Masked Innocence, liking this one a lot! Read the Diary of Brad DeLuca last night too. That was a quick novella companion read to go along with Blindfolded Innocence. So far, liking Masked Innocence even more than I liked the first… go figure.
Grey – which book did you all decide to read as the “wolf pack / bridesmaids” buddy read? Was it Captive Prince??? I’m so lost…..
Lol. Only on the inside Amy. Only on the inside. So it would probably look like this.

I liked Masked more too. The whole thing was great in my opinion. 🙂 I haven’t started dirty red yet. I just finished Blur and want to be able to start The Score right when I get it. Dirty Red will sick me in, and I won’t want to stop. 🙂
Blur is proof my angst button is broken. It was super good, but I never worried. That said, oh so good and the level of happy involved made it a five star for me. I did get some heart hurt at one point and started to sing the song involved to get more emotional. Thank you Lisa for the recommendation!
Now going through my TBR to read a bunch of novellas of series I have.
Very curious as to what Jean & Maryse will think about it.
MichelleS, Grey set up a GR group to read The Score tomorrow.
Michelle, Fabi, Lisa, I, and you(yay! ) are starting CP after. On the weekend.
40 something percent into Jacked. Been a great weekend read.
I think the GR can transcend that, since so many of us wants to read it. 🙂
Another pet peeve complaint: when the prologue alludes to something that will happen later, and it’s something I would rather be blindsided by. 😕
*snicker* So Bev, you would be the black cat in your picture but with my gif running through your mind, right? 😉
Maryse…I had a bit of a tough time with JR at first as well because I couldn’t quite figure out the genre it fit into. But once I realized it’s just kids from three different “groups” without the best adult supervision who are continuing an ongoing tradition, in addition to the backstory starting to make sense, then I was hooked. Aaaaaaand then I got my heart knocked around and bruised. 😉
Whoa. Okay halfway through and there was a “key term” that just made me go WHAT??!!!
I think the conflict might just be starting and it’s quite different than what I was expecting it to be.
Hrmmm… suddenly intrigued again.
Poor Maryse.
I was totally lost when I started to read JR. It was a stretch of time between reading the blurb to reading the book. I had to go back and read the blurb. She does just drop you into it. As the story went on I appreciated that. It unfolds in this really great way. It kept me guessing as to how everyone tied together.
I can’t remember around when it started to just flow for me—-not too far in.
Amy, what do you think?
Perfect Amy. Thank you. SO it’s kind of like different “sorority groups” or frat houses in high school that are against each other?
Ah GOOOD. So it’s not just me.
‘Cause the WRITING in that book is great, it’s mature, and has that awesome-story feel to it, but holy moly I was all, wait who? Wait… what? Wait… who’s talking now? LOL!!!
I love Painted Faces!!! Well you guys already knew that but seriously its so amazing!!
Oh you guys are reading CP? I am so excited about Kings Rising! Finally!! I’ve waited years for this book!
So is JR young adult romance?
Kind of. Townies, School. Military kids. Military kids come every summer and the “war” starts.
Anne. Re read for me. Read the first two when they came out. No way id remember and with those, as you know, you need the details.
JR is Young Adult. There is romance.
Ohhh okay. So what are Townies? Are they the kids that go to school with them but are from wealthy families?
So we have three groups then?
Yep, The Wolf Pack/Bridesmaids GR group is doing The Score and then I think Captive Prince too… because most of us read like it’s our J-O-B…and wouldn’t that be friggin’ awesome if we got paid to read?!?!
Tessa, oh, girl, I get it. I inhaled the LMWL series, I couldn’t put them down, so yes… I fully understand not starting Dirty Red until you’re ready to just read it all and then Thief right after *grin*
bev, Amy and Maryse, you guys are making me want to read Jellicoe Road, how long is it??
Amy, I’m gonna hold off on buying Missed Connection until I hear back from you… LOL!
Bev yeah I know! You need all the details! I would like to join the BR too so I can refresh my memory 🙂 I don’t have a GR account but I can set one up today.
Ok! I enjoy YA so I’ll add JR to my TBR list 🙂
One group is the kids that live in the town and go to the local high school.
Another group are the kids that go to the boarding school.
Then the military kids. They come once a year and camp out.
The land around the town, school, camp is divided up. Much like a war the win and lose land each year and new boundaries are drawn.
Now they take this war very seriously. But the book is not really all about that. Not to say too much but it basically sets the reason for the characters from these different groups to be together.
One thing about how she writes, once your oriented, is it feels like your always moving forward in the story.
Anne, I don’t either. I’m just joining in from here. 😛
Great Bev! So I’ll just join here too. When are we starting?
You’ve explained it perfectly, Bev. I seriously envy those of you who articulate things so well. 😉
I think it started to flow for me when I realized the link between the past and present stories and started to figure out who the past characters *might* be, and then I HAD to know just what had happened in the past story and why it affected the present. Like Bev said, the way the author unfolds the story is perfect and exactly how it needs to be told, even if it is a bit jarring at first.
Anne, the Score on Mon. CP on the weekend. I might try and fit Sebring in between.
That is what I honestly think of you and the other ladies on here, Amy. I feel like my posts looks like a ten year old texting.
Maryse, just remembered. That first scene is the boarding school war room. They are discussing strategy & new leaders. And yes different houses within the school. The older teens take on leadership roles for their house and over the younger children who live there. But one leader for the school for the war.
For me I think the first two, present day, chapters were like a knot I had to get through.
And really it is not a “war” book.
Good morning ladies! I just love lazy Sundays. I’m going to take some time today and put together my list of fav books from 2015. It snowed here in Indiana so it’s perfect weather for cozying up in my house with a warm cup of coffee and scour over my 2015 books. 🙂
I’m going to take a break from the “Chicagoland Vampire” series and read the “The Score” tomorrow. I’ve been anticipating Dean’s book and when I went to one-click it, I saw that I already purchased it on 11/13/15. SCORE!! (Pun intended) *fist pump in the air* I love it when that happens! 🙂
Jellicoe Road is looking good too! *Focus Cristina, focus!* So many books, never enough time… If only we did get paid to read! Damn I would be so good at my job, but then I would teeter on the edge of being a total recluse. Lol… 😉
Well, if nothing else, I’m going through my TBR today. I read the HEA to M. Never’s series, Decadence After Dark. That was a perfect HEA novella. It has the happy of the HEA, the future, and all the remaining questions answered without being unbelievable. Then I read the Indebted Epilogue. It mostly was steam. Had HEA and future, but there are so many questions left. It wasn’t as good, but okay.
Yeah, the BR will totally spill over into here too. I think everyone should join however they can. 😀
JR looks good, but I so have to be in the mood for that type of book. Still it’s on my wishlist for when I am.
So, I was wrong, I thought The Score came out on Tuesday, instead, it comes out tomorrow. I guess I’m going to have to squirrel. I doubt I’ll be done with my current read today.
As excited as I am about The Score, it’s Captive Prince that I’m all antsy about. It feels like I’ve been waiting to read it forever. For some reason, I keep thinking it’s going to be as good as Measure of Devotion. Which was complete greatness. Fingers crossed and butterflies dancing…
Fabi, Fri & Saturday I will have fairly limited reading time. Maybe instead of waiting until Sat we start as we finish The Score? The Kennedy books are usually fast reads that I don’t want to put down until done. Doubt it would take me all week, even as slow as I am.
I’ll have to look up that book you mentioned.
Aw Bev, you don’t sound like a ten year old…a kid could never crack me up the way you do! 😉
Grey…I’m not far into Missed Connection yet so I can’t say what I think of it yet, but I *can* say the prologue disappointed me. I’d rather be blindsided. 😕
Michelle, did you know Morning Star by Pierce Brown come out Feb 9? I had no idea it was coming out so soon. I seem to have a great lineup of anxiously awaited reads for the next several weeks.
Bev and Fabi I think we should start Captive Prince after reading The Score tomorrow. As Bev said Elle’s books are fast to read so maybe we can start CP Wednesday?
Just finished Painted Faces and yes I love it so much! Nicholas is so great! And Freda is amazing! I want to be her BFF. This book is so beautiful I just can’t lol
I’ll do my best Anne, but I don’t have a lot of reading time during the week. I’m lucky if I fit in an hour at bedtime. It’ll take me several days to get through The Score. But I’m happy to start Captive Prince as soon as I’m done with The Score.
I’m reading In Distress by Caethes Faron today and I know I’ll want to read the sequel, In Pain, asap. Then I’m sure I’ll want to read the entire series of The Captive Prince. Meanwhile, we have the new KMM coming out and Morning Star shortly after for me.
I think I’m in reading heaven.
Thats ok Fabi! And yes so many great books coming out soon! I just cant wait for Kings Rising though. Its taken C.S.Pucat almost 4 years to come out with this book!
That’s a long time to wait for a book. It reminds me of when I was waiting for Clan of the Cave Bear releases. But even those I don’t think took four years. wow, just wow
I know! Its crazy! CP 1 and 2 were released in 2012. I don’t know what too her so long for book 3 :/
Fabi, yes Morning Star I’m counting down to! I hope the trilogy finishes up strong. If I can make the time, it’s a release I want to read that day.
I’m up for starting Captive Prince Wed. I’m finishing the first Imp book tonight (Tessa I like it!) and might just go into book 2 of that. I want to read The Score but never read The Mistake. Why, I have no clue considering I loved The Deal.
Can’t wait for all the new releases this week. I’m in for the BR of The Score. Don’t know about Captive Prince, because Aced(Driven #5), Alessandra Torre’s anthology, The Perfect Life, and Here To Stay will be released this week. Yippee!!!!!!!!
Hi Bev Maryse and Co. Re: Jellicoe Road….although I haven’t read it I know the author is an Aussie. Bev descibed the groups the best….Townies are usually the local residents kids, who live at home and go to the local school. Then we had ‘Boarders’ who were those who boarded either at the school dorms or with other families and were from other towns or farms. And obviously the military kids who are also ‘blow ins’.
The book sounds good though.
Michelle, you know Elle Kennedy’s books are stand alones? You don’t have to read The Mistake to read The Score. But it sounds like you have your lineup. I seriously doubt I’ll be ready to read CP by Weds. But you guys go on and enjoy. I’ll catch up as soon as I can.
Fabi, I think we read around the same pace. Actually you prob are a lot quicker if not working 80hrs a week, lol. I doubt I will out pace you. Michelle? Well she is usually finishing up her second book by the time I finish our BR, lol.
Lisa it really is. I absolutely want to read more by her. Glad I got it right.
Now. The question is did Maryse & Jean stick with it? Though Maryse already finished a book today.
Cheryl that is a list!
Aww Bev haha, that would work this time ok because I plan on reading the first two books back to back and you’ve already enjoyed them 😉
Fabi, I know they are standalones but I’m weird and won’t read series out of order usually, especially if there are crossover characters.
So Bev did you ever read ‘Looking for Alibrandi’ by Same author?? It was made into a film here and is practically an Aussie icon of coming of age. Pia Miranda played the MC.
Fabi….I get the reading series in order even when stand alones. Usually the characters make cameo appearances in prior books and you get to know them through other characters povs. Also there is often spoilers.
On buddy read of Captive Prince… Is it the series? Book one? Or the new one that’s going to be released?
MichelleS I think we are BRing the first book as its been so long between book 2 and the new release I think everyone is refreshing by starting again. I havent read any of this series so Im definately on book one. But first The Score 😉
MichelleS, the first one. For Anne & I it will be a re-read. I want to go on and re-read book two also. Book 3 comes out on like the 2nd or 3rd, so before that at least. I hope you all like it enough to continue. 🙂
Lisa, that’s funny as I was just looking at that book today. But I’m trying to show restraint unless a sale. I bought JR full price (worth it) because I didn’t grab it on sale. But otherwise I’m trying to wait until I really think I am going to read it.
I have not heard of that movie.
Oh and prob seen but……Fabi’s turn!!
Ive loved everything you’ve recommended that Ive read Bev.
Ooohhh, a bonus scene from Elle Kennedy about Garrett and Wellsy in my email. Sooo good! Did y’all get it?
Yay…..one good thing about being in a different time zone……The Score and Sebring just landed on my kindle. 😉
Me too Lisa!!! Starting The Score!!!
Fabi I didn’t get it! I so want to read it though!
Yes! The Score is finally here! Dean I am coming for you lol
Going to be a busy week:
1.) Read Score
2.) read Sebring
3.) Finish The Husband’s Secret (I’m late coming to that party)
4.) Read Captive Prince Book One
I’m looking forward to the challenge!
Okay guys, sorry I missed you all over the weekend. It just took me a while to catch up on all your comments. Wanted to pop in and let bev know I finished Jellicoe Road last night……sigh…..bev, bev, bev, you have the best recommendations! I LOVED IT! I admit, I also struggled in the beginning with the back and forth and not knowing who everyone was, but I stuck with it and sooo glad I did!!!!! Thanks again bev!
Now, I’m ready for The Score……
I’m still on Jellicoe Road… I won’t give this one up. I know it’s “mine”. I just have to get there. 😉
And the Laura Kaye sequel comes out tomorrow. Crazy. I want to somehow get in Sebring to MichelleS.
Jean. Yes! Once past those first couple chapters doesn’t it flow so very well?
Lisa, thank you. But still fingers crossed.
Bev, yes! Still thinking about it today as I sit at my desk. It was so well done and ended up flowing perfectly!
Yay Jean!!! I figured you would love it…now if we can just get Bev to actually read one of OUR recs. 😉
How about that epilogue? Oh, my poor bruised heart…the author just had to take one final stab at it.
Ugh. Yes Amy, my heart was on the floor!
Bev never listens to our recs!!!!! I think she’s scared (of you)! Blahahahaha!!!!
*shrugs*
*points to Bev*
There’s our answer.
*snort* 😛
Maryse, what part are you at in JR?
