Good morning! I see the new KA releases in just a week!
Good morning Nay!!! 😀 Heck yes KA!!!!
*wipes sleep from eyes and grumbles*
It’s 4:30 in the morning…who the heck wakes up this earl-
😯
Hello Mr. Sleighed! *giggle*
*raises hand*
Apparently me this morning.
4:30am??? Where are you guys???!!!
P.S. I was up too, at 4:30am… been up since then. Guess my “Drift Off” wasn’t as effective last night. *sigh*
KA love triangle on my birthday? Sounds like a plan!
Amy, Tessa and I are all West Coast.
Julie Moffett has one releasing this Thursday too. White Knights- it’s YA. I’ve read almost all of her Lexi Carmichael mystery series and thoroughly enjoyed those, so I’m looking forward to this too. Lexi is a geeky, socially awkward techy coder who has a great group of friends and a sexy, mysterious love interest, who always has a big, dangerous mystery to solve.
Morning everyone! It’s snowing AGAIN here. Grrrrr
Ha! I got to sleep in until 5:45 am! I win! 😛 And no. I don’t look at a computer the first thing. I sit and stare at nothing, hoping my brain starts working.
I pre-ordered Sinful Empire. 🙂 The series is stupidly insane. I’m loving it.
Pssshh! 6:45 here. I’m clearly the winner.
MichelleS, is it going to be your bday? A December baby.
I am going to try that KA too, but some of her latest have been skins for me. If this one doesn’t work not sure she will be an autobuy for me anymore.
I preordered the Anthology up there with Grace Craven. Winter fantasy romance sounds nice right now.
Maryse you should make one of your old tbr lists.
Yeah… Maybe I should. Try and pull up back to the top, a bunch that I’ve been dying to read and got buried with all of my latest one-clicking…
Good idea bev! 🙂
I would love some non-new releases for recommendations.
I think my super old TBR is no longer my reading taste but recs from last couple years would be good.
whose birthday is it?? Are we starting rumors today? I was up stupid early too… I laid in bed thinking about all the things I have to do. Making mental lists…. Yes, I am *that girl*…
I will update the 2018 Themes TBR challenge tonight or tomorrow and post… I think we have enough ideas…and I think I can combine a couple ideas to fit everyone’s in… It really is marvelous fun and helps us all clean a book or 12 ( 😉 ) off our massive TBR stacks!
…
…
Grey, bully read?
Yassss! Tessa, I want that too. *Pouts* God, I hate adulting so so so much. Im adding to my list. Lol!
I’m in Tennessee. It was 6:00 when I posted earlier, but I was also awake a little after 4 a.m.
I’m actually behind on KA. Still haven’t read the last Magdalene or Unfinished hero books or Complicated because a couple of her latest books just haven’t excited me like the older ones.
What I’m REALLY looking forward to is Rough Ride, the Chaos novella that’s part of the 1001 Nights series that coming out in Feb–I’ve already got it preordered.
I am in a major reading rut. I can’t decide if it’s because I don’t have any extra time right now or I’m truly in a rut. I have several books that I feel like I NEED to read (i.e. the new Brittainy Cherry book is calling to me), but I just can’t get motivated to start it. Waaaa! When I get in ruts like this, a BR is what I really need…
Tessa–that Meghan March trilogy looks awesome! I just put Ruthless King on my TBR to add to the other books I’m *not* reading!
Bev – KA is not on auto buy for me anymore. It’s been a while (probably the Chaos series) since I liked one of hers. But I will at least read the sample of this new one.
Nay – you will survive the reading rut of 2017 – me and Bev have made it out alive.
Yup, Bev- it’s going to my BDay next release day!!! Not telling my age (GASP) – but let’s just say the AARP stuff came last year! Jeez. That was an eye opener. I wanted to send it back and write, “Hey you crazy people – I read Simon versus the Homosapiens Agenda – I am not that old!”
Nay, it’s kind of dark and absolutely nuts. I’m loving every second of the trilogy.
I have to admit, KA has never been an auto-buy for me. The only book that really blew me away was Golden Dynasty. The few others I read just seemed like typical CR books. I think I’ve read too much.
Oh that was the worst slump. The worst. I have had small ones, but this one is insane.
Nice plug for Simon btw. 😉
Nay.. I’ve got something to cure your rut, I promise. A Court of Thorns and Roses…
I am FOR SURE going to finish the Court series next year. In fact, my reading resolution is to start the year-purchased reading pattern again (it’s worked pretty well the last two years!) and finish at least one series per month that I started but never finished…starting with the Court series.
Amy – Court is a MUST READ! I need to know who you pick – there’s so many yummy guys to fall for. Heroine is no wilting flower either. Did you read her other series? Throne of Glass? Tell me you did! Gasp! You are missing out girl.
I still need to finish the last one in the Court series too. And Charley Davidson series, I’m not caught up there either. Those are 2 big ones that I’d like to finish.
Nope, didn’t read her other series. And I’m totally trusting you guys that it’s going to be okay in the second book because I am NOT liking what was implied near the end of the first…
Scott Hildreth has a new book for the start of a new MC Series, Baker (Devil Disciples MC) that is out today. If you are looking for a good MC series, I would recommend his Filthy F_____ers Series. Hard is the first book but I need to caution that there is one scene that might be a trigger for some. But the series is really good!!
The problem isn’t that I don’t want to read COTAR or Behind the Bars or Eleventh Grave in Moonlight or even The Coppersmith Farmhouse (I’ve gotten to 16%). It’s that I can’t get motivated to read. Which sucks!
What’s for dinner and who is cooking?
Nay, totally understand. It was never the books it was the reading.
Watch kdrama with me.
😉
Nay, have you tried to read a book that’s your catnip? Or re-read a favorite? Those are the things that get me out of my funk when they happen. Not sure if it will work for you, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
I’m making chicken in a bag (bag in season) with squash and mushrooms because 1. I’m lazy, 2. I’m busy AF, and 3. it’s super low cal. <– look I just did 3 things!
I made fettuccini and shredded medium cheddar and jarred marinara sauce. Oh and some parmesan (the cheap kind). It was DELICIOUS!!!
Also… 😉
I had a praline pecan. Oh YES. I. DID. I want to eat ALL the treats. ALL. NOW. But I won’t. I will eat one a day. Darn discipline!!!!!
Or is it a pecan praline?
Either way. I LOVE THEM!!!!!
I’m making grilled chicken and steamed veggies. Trying to be healthy. Well, okay, I’ll probably eat my Pepperidge Farm Milanos afterwards, but still…
It wasn’t the books for me either. My brain was overrun by CNN & fixing up things around the house. Nothing was doing it for me. DNF-ing left & right, so I just gave up & didn’t read at all.
MichelleS it cracks me up that you went to CNN and I went to K dramas. I still wanted the romance and pretty.
But yeah I was not able to focus on a book at all. So instead of forcing it I just stopped too. Occasionally they would whisper to me and I’d try but no go.
I like K horror!!! 🙂
Have you watched those yet, bev???? :D!!!!!
Though I have had smaller ones where re reads were exactly what I did. Comfort food until I felt better.
I had leftover chicken noodle soup. I still have leftover cough from my crappy cold. All your meals sound delicious! I made puppy show today too and I’m only just restraining myself from gorging out on it.
I hate to ask, but did you try Cowsex? It was what ended my reading rut.**blushes** Pardon the pun. It is NOT about beastiality, and I loathe to admit I read a book with such a terrible title, but I needed something funny after watching the news. The magic doesn’t begin until she gets to America. The title is explained. I’ll give it 4 to 4.5 stars because I thought it was rushed in a couple of places.
I’m not going to eat healthy until January 2. I’m currently making chicken enchilada soup, which will be garnished with a generous portion of cheddar cheese.
Debbie. I shall look up this book. 😉 Eeeeep I laughed at that title. I thought it was candy. Can you tell where my mind is??? SWEEEEEETS. Oh I’m thinking cow tails aren’t I?
P.S. I LOVE chicken enchilada soup. You are SO LUCKY!!!!
Between family, work, and Hallmark movies, it’s hard to find time to read.
😯
Try Cowsex?!? Debbie wins the comment of the day!! Bahahahahaha!!!!!
I tossed this in the slow cooker this morning:
https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/slow-cooker-pesto-mozzarella-chicken-pasta/
Seriously guys, easiest dish and sooooo freaking yummy. Perfect winter comfort food.
OMG Amy!!! That will be mine this weekend!! 😀
Looks amazing!
I’m afraid to put “Cowsex” into any search engine or even Amazon! GAH! You must give me some more details…. I can’t believe you were brave enough to read a book with that title. LOL.
I know you may have some…reservations…kinky thoughts….weird vibes about a book with that title, there is a funny explanation. It is similar to KA’s The Gamble. Gracie comes to Colorado for a long vacation, not realizing that her rental should have been cancelled, but that is really the only similarity. This book is warm, funny, and sexy. It’s about two complete strangers who meet from different worlds and just click. I wish I could meet these characters in real life. The story seems effortless and has to be one of my favorite reads this year.
https://www.amazon.com/CowSex-Lesley-Jones-ebook/dp/B0761XHXDD/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1513124212&sr=8-1&keywords=Cowsex
No. I am a wimp. WIMP. I watch the tv dramas. The romances and comedies. So like books. There are tropes I am starting to recognize and everything is completely wrapped up in 13 to 20 eps.
NAY – did you read Undeserving (Undeniable 5) by M. Sheehan? It was great, right from the start.
I’m watching HGTV Househunters International. In case I need to move… you know, with all the CNN watching I’m doing. New Zealand is my top choice. Pricey houses though. Totally weird kitchens in every house.
It actually sounds good Debbie. I like fish out of water tales. One I loved years ago was Men in Kilts, but an American moving to a Scottish sheep farm.
That does look really good Amy.
I made ton of shredded chicken in crockpot yesterday so I used some of that, with sauteed peppers and added to tomato sauce and served over rigatoni.
I had Bluebell homemade vanilla for supper with a side of Mayfield chocolate moose tracks. Because….root canal
Michelle–Yes, I read Undeserving the day it came out, and it’s one of my favorites of the year!
I saw Cowsex just the other day! And it’s by Lesley Jones, the author of the book that shall not be named *whispers* but that I loved! So I thought about giving it a try, but I also thought about giving COSAR, Behind the Bars, 11th Grave, The Copperfield Farmhouse…
So I’m going to ask my new ‘most important question’–Is Cowsex dual POV?
Oh I’m with Nay!!!
POV? I’d rather it be just from one cow. Especially the “she” cow. 😉
I just read Shaman by Lauren Gilley. It’s a Dartmoor Christmas novella LOL. Came out Dec 5th. Strictly only recommended if you’ve read the Dartmoor books – I don’t think it would make much sense otherwise. But I liked it – 4 stars. The focus is on Ian, but there are nice little vignettes of Mercy, Charlie Walsh, the Teagues etc.
Cowsex is dual POV. Alternate chapters from Koa and Gracie’s POVs. The book has one of the worst book names ever IMHO, but the story itself is quite sweet. But it’s one of those books where I got to 54% and just….stopped. I dunno. Bored, maybe? Other books just started looking more interesting and I picked something else up. Maybe I’ll go back and finish sometime? Dunno……
Probably the funniest question taken out of context ever… “Is Cowsex dual POV?” *bwahahaha*
Let’s do a little looking back, just a bit on what we read this year.
Book with the best writing?
Book that needs more love?
Book that left you with a big smile on your face when done?
Book you forgot you even read?
best writing: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
more love: Wish You Were Here
biggest smile: Forever Right Now
forgot: I didn’t read enough to forget anything!
Boring spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Something quick so we could go look at more suv’s.
I’m craving chilli. Anyone have good crock pot recipe?
Best writing: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I still want to go back and read it, as much as I love LMM, so I can see it.
More Love: Bitter Legacy. I was just 100% into it as I read it and surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned more.
(I still want to say To Tell the Truth….but that was last year.)
Big Smile: Silence Fallen. Can’t say to much but so satisfied with that book. Re read the ending a couple times.
Forgot: Too many. I have the worst book amnesia. Some I have forgotten anything about it others that I read it this year. Even books I liked I have a moment of oh yeah that was this year.
Book with the best writing? The Weaving Man – Tove Foss Ford
Book that needs more love? Silence Fallen – mercy Thompson series – because I just want more Adam + Mercy and hanky panky
Book that left you with a big smile on your face when done?I got nothin’ – I need a good smile book people!
Book you forgot you even read? Maldeamores – I remember that I liked it and read book two, but I can’t remember a thing past that! Crazy
Ah, kiss of death (besides it being dual POV)–‘the story itself is quite sweet’.
I may read it sometime, but not right now. I’m banning dual POV books anyway (Well, mostly. If I can help it.)
Me too. Mo more dual POV. I don’t think like a man and I don’t want to hear your neanderthal thoughts, thank you very much. Give me her doubts and insecurities please.
Best written: Too hard!! There were so many, but I’ll go with The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivy
Book that needs more love: Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson
Book the left big smile: Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern
Forgot: Till Death by Jennifer Armentrout and Wild Reckless by Ginger Scott
Lol! I think I liked Cowsex because it fits in with all of the Hallmark movies I’ve been watching. I needed something light and different from the usual tropes. I hate knowing what is going to happen in a book based on the first page. I was bored with most romance books in 2017.
Best writing: Mists of the Serengeti
More Love: Love on the Edge of Time
Biggest Smile: Cowsex (The best part is the reaction you get when you tell people what you are reading).
Forgot: The Problem With Forever
Single POV is good most of the time, from her. However, the exception is when knowing what he is thinking makes it more angsty! For instance, Fear You did not make me feel better about Keiran. In fact, I thought there was some redeeming his scary butt after Fear Me, but Fear You just shot that thought right out of my head. The dude is NUTS. Okay? Just nuts! Also, bad guys. When you see them subtly manipulating others and you know it’s bad, you know what it will mean later, and nothing stops them, it’s pure EEEEP! I sometimes have to walk away when it gets to that point.
Hrm… bad guy, Keiran… same thing. 😛
Now, questions!
Book with the best writing? I’m with MichelleS – The Weaving Man by Tove Foss Ford
Book that needs more love? I move onto some weird off books a lot of times, but two series stand out. The Mafia and His Angel (way better than its title) by Lylah James and The Unlikeable Demon Hunter series by Deborah Wilde. You all have heard me recently rave about Mafia, but Unlikeable is funny, she’s sassy and utterly imperfect, and the plotline is pretty fun and unpredictable.
Book that left you with a big smile on your face when done? Fallen Crest Forever. The series ended perfectly, and my smile was huge when it was done.
Book you forgot you even read? ROFL, SOOOO many! However, the funny one is VIP by Kristen Calllihan. It’s in my bob file, best of best, and um… I don’t remember anything about it. *blushes*
Book with the best writing? Afterwards/ Afterburn duet by Nia Forrester. intense, complicated, fascinating story of intense, complicated, fascinating characters.
Book that needs more love? White Wolf by Lauren Gilley. Well-written, but it’s really kinda UF. Gimme more romance, please.
Book that left you with a big smile on your face when done? Devil In Spring by Lisa Kleypas. A beautiful HR. *sighhhhhhh*
Book you forgot you even read? Sure Thing by Jana Aston. GR says I’ve read it but I can’t even remember LOL. Except I now remember thinking it’s not as good as the Wrong series. But that’s all that’s stuck with me :/
Book with the best writing? Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar
Book that needs more love? Frayed Silk by Ella Fields
Book that left you with a big smile on your face when done? The Gravity of Us by Brittainy Cherry
Book you forgot you even read? Lover by Marni Mann
OMG I’m such an idiot. I took “book that needs more love” literally. Let me try that again. Book that needs more love **from readers** is The Pebble Jar. 🙄
I’m in two minds about dual POV. (Hang on, I wasn’t trying to make a pun then!) IKWYM about not wanting to know ‘his’ neanderthal thoughts. BUT my recent read of Roomies was IMO marred by its single POV. You only saw the H through through the h’s eyes, and she had low self-esteem and kept second-guessing herself. So you couldn’t connect with the H – he seemed unknowable. For most of the book, the h just didn’t really get him or trust her opinions about him. And I didn’t like that. Maybe if the h had a bit more self-confidence it would have made a difference. But I found the single POV highly frustrating in this case.
Hahaha Robin. I did the same THING! OK. Book that needs more love FROM READERS would be J.C. and The Bijoux Jolies by Katy Regnery. IMO her best book and I think it’s underestimated. More people need to read it!
Well, I didn’t really have a book I forgot I read because, like Robin, I didn’t get many books read this year. Therefore, I put a book I’d like to forget I read AND that I’ve forgotten the story line of. I was SO looking forward to Lover and was majorly disappointed.
Lover by whom, Nay?
LOL!
I noticed that with MichelleS.
But yes, book that is a hidden gem. That you are surprised more haven’t read. Not more romance or sex.
LMAO.
I should be more clear.
I love that I laugh so much with you all.
🙂 Face it, this blog is filled with dirty minds.
Jean–Lover by Marni Mann
Thanks Nay. I think I will avoid. Yes bev, I usually read this blog with a smile on my face. And the odd snort. (My snorts ARE pretty odd!!) Dirty minds who, Tessa? *walks away whistling*
Score one for me. I told R. she was going to love The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo… I know she worried and worried about it, but the writing was so freaking fabulous….
I’m going to have to think on these 4 questions these are hard ones… I’ve been up since 445 EST,making lists in the dark again…
Jan, when I became bored with contemporary romances, I re-read a lot of historical novels. You should read A Devil in Winter. Some of my other favorite historicals are The Madness Of Lord Ian Mackenzie, Eyes of Silver Eyes of Gold, Annie’s Song, When a Scot Ties the Knot, and Lord of Scoundrels. I also re-read a lot of science fiction/fantasy.
This is hard because I read so many that I want to pick for 1st three questions!
Book with the best writing?
I will go with The Ground Rules series by Roya Carmen as this was unputdownable for me.
Book that needs more love?
Some Kind of Perfect by Becca & Krista Ritchie. This series is THE BEST and more peeps need to read it.
Book that left you with a big smile on your face when done?
Ghosted by J.M. Darhower. This book made me cry and smile. The daughter with the pizza (and the chickens and breads)…I am smiling as I type this.
Book you forgot you even read?
I would like to forget I read Drive by Kate Stewart as you all went gaa gaa over it and I was bored.
White Knights by Julie Moffett is live, early!
Well, this will make Amy happy. I used my five dollars off coupon at Google Books and got Bad Romeo. 🙂 I figured at 99 cents, I could give it a try.
First world problems.
Being mad because I have to buy my morning coffee because I forgot my coffee with peppermint creamer in my hydro flask on the counter.
Peppermint creamer!!!!!
Tessa….you have to tell me what you think of the heroine. Lol.
Not one of my favorite books, not sure if I will read the sequel or not. Just that I already bought it.
I am going to say that my two biggest let downs :
Bad Romeo
Rush
If I hadn’t have known what to expect with Hugo, I would have been crushed. But, I went in knowing it wouldn’t be typical TJR and loved it. But God I hope she goes back to her heartbreaky ways this year!
That stinks bev.
I read a lot of great books this year. So it’s hard to narrow it down.
Best writing: Mists of the Serengeti (Bird and the Sword a close second)
More love: Hearts series by L.H. Conway
Made me smile: Ghosted (Girl Crush close second)
Forgot I read: looking through my list, I forgot a lot of books I read!
Honorable mentions from my old TBR list that mostly everyone else has already read: One True Loves and 5 Stages of Falling in love!!!! Great books that I should have read sooner!
Oooh, Jean accidentally added a new question!
Book we should have read sooner? 😀 For me, it’s The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher. You all were right; I did love it.
Kristin Hannah’s Comfort and Joy is on sale for 2.99 from 7.99. Sounds like one to put ya in the Christmas spirit.
Biggest let down: One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline
One you should have read sooner: The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon
Biggest let down: Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward. I usually love her books, but the flashbacks made that one a DNF.
Book I wish I’d read sooner? Mists of the Serengeti is #1, but On the Island takes a close second, then Sweet Gum Tree. Biggest disappointment was Lucian Divine.
Book I wish I read sooner??
That’s an easy one…Tristan & Danika Series by R.K. Lilley!! Duh! What the heck was wrong with me????
Biggest disappointment??
I was really looking forward to and disliked:
Plus One by Aleatha Romig &
The Wright Brother by K.A. Linde
Bev, your disappointments are two of my faves! Rush & Bad Romeo are my kind of CR. It’s funny to see all our diff takes on same books. I guarantee that some of the 2017 faves on here will my worst.
So… I can’t find anything to read either. I just downloaded Cowsex. I passed earlier on it because of the title.
I read Collecting the Pieces by L A Fiore this week and I LOVED it. I couldn’t put it down. It had a little bit of everything I like in a book. I even cried a few times. I liked the h a lot. She was really strong and he… well, you’ll have to read it.
Roomies by Christina Lauren was great too. It was probably my fav book written by this duo. I’m a sucker for this trope.
Psst… I made Ginger chicken and broccoli in my insta-pot. I’ve even created a fancy Pinterest board with a million insta-pot recipes. I can’t stop raving about the pot. I think everyone needs one.
I only made one thing in mine so far Kandace, and I LOVE it!!! Chicken & cilantro rice. YUMMMMMM!!!
MichelleS’s TOP FAVORITES of 2017 book list is going up tonight. :D!!!
If you guys have one for me, email it to me, or message it to me, or even leave it in the comments and I will be turning them into official posts. Our 2017 BEST OF lists!!! 😀
Waited too long?
Wolfsong
I want a ginger chicken recipe.
Yay! I love reading these lists.
If anyone needed a mid day pick me up

THIS IS MY PICK ME UP FOR Y’ALL!!!!
https://youtu.be/0_UVXVyc2DE
I’m having the hardest time coming up with my top list.
Book I waited too long to read: The Throne of Glass series & A Court of Thorns & Roses series. I could kick myself for waiting & now I’m hooked! Also, Exhaltation of Larks.
Biggest disappointment – KA books of late.
LOL. A book that needs more love… from readers, not love scenes… okay, gotcha! Hmmmm so many… The Weaving Man & Beyond the Sea come to mind.
Beyond the Sea is like On The Island, except m/m, so if that doesn’t bother you, it’s fabulous!
The Weaving Man was just unforgettable for me.
I waited too long for Last Hour of Gann.
And Michelle I’m with you on the biggest disappointment. I haven’t been able to finish any of the recent KAs. I’m hoping the new one out soon is better…. Michelle, do you think it’s the books, or have our tastes changed? I can’t decide.
Debbie thanks for the HR recs. I’m a big HR reader. Have read most of those and the others are on my tbr 🙂
Me too for the KAs. I LOVE her. I love her stories, and her emotion, and how she starts and ends her stories. Hooks me immediately… but I too, have been finding myself losing focus around the halfway points.
*sigh*
So I’m taking a break and jumping back in later.
Loved the pick me up dogs pics and the video!!
Have to give the questions some thought- brain is dead and coming up with NADA!
A favorite of the year list already? Mine isn’t going to be available until Jan just in case there is something absolutely awesome I’ll read this month. You never know!
Jan – I think it’s abut if both! Once she got a publisher, something just changed. Can’t put my finger on it. I also think my taste has changed, or at least I’m not into CR as much & definitely that they all feel the same. Same H & h, same dialogue, etc etc. “babe”, bracelets, furniture, yeah…. I need something fresh.
Same reason I stopped reading Stephanie Plum novels. Who cares about Ranger & the other dude! Gah! Over it.
Throw in Black Dagger Britherhood & Immortals After Dark & Anita Blake & Fever series while we’re at it!
Is that bad?
I can’t do Anita Blake anymore. 🙁
It was SO intense and awesome (to me) once…
I am not drunk, just typing in my phone…
Maryse & M-followers
We stared a BR for Method 15/33 on GR – come one came all
Oh ya I finally finished my review….
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2207554952
Jan – Yoo-hoo! Did you ever read Paula Quinn’s highlander novels? It starts with Laird if the Mist, and each story is a different couple, then the spinoff series is their kids! I adored these books!!! Best of the historicals for me!
Of… of the mist… why is the I next to the O on the friggin keyboard anyway!
Also Lord of the Isles, by Debbie Mazzuca. Time travel & highlander = yippee! Loved it. Always a favorite reread for me.
I’m now feeling in a nostalgic mood for a good Highland Romance.
I think with KA, who I really do love, I just know how every conversation or argument is going to go.
It’s funny because I am pretty low angst but I think her books maybe need a pinch more. Less dramatics more angst, lol.
MichelleS is up!
Who doesn’t love a man in a kilt, Michelle?
This is me today:

I totally agree on the KA subject–ever since she got a publisher, I think it was with Jagged, everything changed for me. I still haven’t even read the final Colorado Mtn book. As I put in my review for Jagged, “I’ll happily read “passed” instead of “past” and a few run-on sentences if I could get back the vibrant descriptions, the repetitive, yet oh-so-engaging dialogue, the over-the-top alpha and the super steamy, and often down and dirty, romance and sex.”
And I agree that it’s also a little of the ‘if I’d read this 5 years ago’ curse. When her books first came out, her heroes were unique and knocked everyone’s socks off (remember Tate in Sweet Dreams and Joe in At Peace?) But now, it seems like heroes like that are a dime a dozen (even if many of them aren’t written nearly as well as KA does it).
I’m REALLY hoping that this book of hers that comes out on Tuesday knocks my socks off again!
Who made the coffee this morning?
I made the coffee but I don’t think I made it strong enough…
*zzzzzzzzzzzzz…*
I have to go into work, but let’s do these. Yes?
https://bookriot.com/2017/12/14/bookish-generators/
I had to start with Anne of course.
I’m Clara of Green Prairie.
Stop by for some Raspberry Cordial this afternoon.
Go and read To Tell the Truth, Thou Goatish bat-fowling scut.
I seem to have a backwards cold. Nothing sounds good, not even coffee. 🙁
Tasha I’m in the third week of my cold…. it’s just lingering!
And here comes my book slump….. I’m going to blame it on Method 15/33. Not sure what to read after that great book!
And I’m 6 books from my goal of 150 for the year. Any suggestions for some short good books?
Team Player releases today as soon as Amazon gets its act together. It’s a sports romance anthology, and most people who’ve been reading it on GR are counting each one as a book. They’re about 30k words each. I’ve only read Emma’s, but I hear LJ Shen’s and Kate Stewart’s are good too!
I am Lottie Thinum (The Charles Dicken’s name generator). It will take me 5 years, 5 months to read all of my TBR. Great. If the apocalypse lasts for six years, I’ll be re-reading stuff.
Thank you R! I’ve been waiting for that.
Gah, Jean!! There’s NO way I could do this for 3 weeks! I’m sorry you still have it, have you been to the doc? I just wanna sleep the day away (I’m a snot factory today with a lovely headache), but I’ve gotta pick one up from school soon and the other likes to misbehave when he sees me sleeping…and we have a school xmas program tonight. *sigh*
*hugs Jean* Colds suck.
ey, Hate F*ck is on your list and is only 78 pages. Kresley Cole’s The Professional Part 1 is only 120 pages. And I found this. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/34098.Best_Romance_Novellas_Short_Stories There might be something fun there.
Oh and if you look through some authors you like, some have 6-7 page little short stories on their site that count as a book.
Thanks Tessa!
Tasha, I never went to doctor. I’ve just been taking lots of Thera Flu (which gives me the wildest crazy dreams)!
FYI
iRoomba + mushy dog poop = disaster
This is my day!
AHHHH BUT MichelleS!!!
This is why you don’t schedule. Even if you can… you should just never do that. It’s a neat feature, sure. IF you don’t have pets. I do not trust my girls to not have an accident, so I got the Roomba that CAN’T be scheduled. 😉
But ugh. I feel for you. It’s why I held off for 3 years, until I realized… I could control when it ran, and not have to worry.
OMG Michelle. I feel for you. My brother in law’s dog pooped all over our yard and my hubs slung it over our tree line in the woods. Alice waits until it starts to rain to find it. That was…ewww… 🙄 Yours is way worse! At least I could wash her.
That is horrendous Michelle!
Eeeww. Gross!!
*gags*
Hopefully not carpet.
I’m in book flunkery hell- I can’t find anything either Jean!!!
So I’m trying one of my tricks of switch genres and doing the Audible. I’m listen to Memory Man by David Baldacci it’s about a former footballer that takes a hit and comes back from the dead with Hyperthymesia aka perfect memory recall… then becomes the perfect detective who looses all family violently… then gets called back to duty as a consultant on a high school mass murder… its all very uplifting KIDDING
But Baldacci knows how to write gritty thrillers and narrator voice is very befitting.
Personal I think it would suck to remember EVERYTHING
Like all your most embarrassing moments OR….
Talk about not fun to clean up. Yuck!
What’s with the book funk people? It’s contagious! All seriousness, though, I hope you all get through it.
Kooloo that actually sounds pretty interesting. Keep us updated.
I keep looking at books and just can’t make a decision right now.
Come closer Tessa. Let me cough on you.
OR all the times you were sick or hurt
Oh Oh how about if you remember vividly all the times you were in a book funk! Now that would def’ suck @ss
Love Kleypas.

Jean…..let me pick a book for you.
😉
Ummmm….
*bats eyelashes*
No, wait.
That was awkward.
I’m on my commute batting them at my phone.
For anyone waiting for Team Player, it just went live! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07891C4C6/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1513303078&sr=8-14&keywords=team+player
LMAO Bev!!!!!
Haha bev! What would your suggestion be….. just curious.
Thanks R, I was looking for Team Player. Seeing a lot of great reviews for Emma Scott’s story!
I think you’ll love it Jean. I just wish it was full length!
Jean is just being polite, R.
The Hating Game
Or
Landline
Or
A bit different
The Serpent King.
Or
Together we could read
The Sun is Also a Star.
I compared our books. Otherwise you know my top 2 recs right now right?
I have Landline.
Your top 2 recs…..Simon and hmmmm…. not sure….Dumplin…..Fangirl…..????
To Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil.
Imagine how happy it would make sick and pregnant Tasha.
You’re right bev. It would make her SO HAPPY!!!
Probably me too, huh?
I have a feeling I’ll love it and kick myself for not having read it sooner.
I refuse to believe Hobit has accidents.
I wish I could refuse to believe it too.
To tell you the truth, I’m not sure which of the two has the occasional slip-up. I just blame them both. 😉
Hey Aussie peeps with US Amazons, I’m trying to gift a book but she can’t receive it. She swears her acct. is US but she’s in Australia. Have you ever come across this when receiving a gifted book?
Yes, unless you hate it.
We don’t want to distress her.
Bev, go ahead and cough on me. I can never tell if I have allergies or a cold. 😛
Maryse, which, To Tell the Truth?
R. occasionally a kindle book isn’t available to Australians due to some publishing arrangement. It may be one of those books. Maybe try another book? In the past I have been able to use a gift certificate on US amazon as long as I ‘migrated’ my amazon account to amazon US. (But even then there are a few books Aussies just can’t get).
Big *hug* for the ‘The Coppersmith Farmhouse’ rec. I’ve gotten totally sucked down the rabbit hole with this series and it’s solved my big-time book slump. It also makes me want to book a vacation to one of those fancy clamping spots in Montana, Wyoming, etc. Hah!
Argggg. *Glamping not clamping!
