<— *squeeeee* This one went LIVE early (it was supposed to go live only next week)!! Surprise! π And it’s the series finale, so all of our questions regarding this exciting psych-thriller will finally come to light!! *happy wiggle*Β Oh and!! Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s post, ’cause it has some seriously great new early-bird releases tooΒ βΒ Fifteen Early Bird Book Releases
And guess what else? There are quite a few more standouts calling my name, and now I’m gonna list ’em. ‘Cause I love making lists. π Okay soΒ FeverbornΒ (GAH that blurb makes me excited but I still have to catch up on the last one or two in this series. This is one of my favorite paranormal/urban fantasy series EVER!! BARRONS!!!!),Β AppealedΒ (’cause some of our fellow readers went CRAZY for book #2, and these can be read as standalones and I hear they can be pretty hilarious! AND AND!! Her opposing lawyer is her old high school-humiliater!),Β Outside the LinesΒ (’cause first, it’s Lisa Desrocher, and I love her and 2nd, ’cause it’s a school-teacher falling in love with a crime-lord’s son. YIKES!!!!!!!! I seem to gravitate towards sweet-schoolteacher and bad-boy stories),Β Blue: A NovelΒ (I’ve always loved Danielle Steele, and this one sounds heartwarming and heartbreaking – she’s helping a young boy on the streets, but then she finds out about a betrayal… GAH!!),Β Loud is How I Love YouΒ (she’s WAY TOO into her guitarist, and it’s messing with their potential rock star success)!! I also highlighted a few more below that sound right up our alley. π
Gah!! SO much awesomeness every week. And our fellow reader Kelly said it beautifully:
“How lucky are we all to have so many fantastic writers and books of all genres available? I am so grateful for electronic books. E-books have opened up a whole new world of authors that I wouldn’t have heard of or read without them. And then introduced me to a ton more who I had never heard of. Thank you to all the authors out there who took a leap of faith and decided to self-publish. I have had more joy, excitement, angst, heartbreak and love from my stories than I ever thought possible. And thank you to groups like this for exposing me to so many more. I LOVE TO READ!”
P.S. Let me know if Iβm missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Donβt have a Kindle? No problem!Β Amazon offers variousΒ freeΒ Kindle appsΒ and a freeΒ Kindle Cloud readerΒ for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like youβre using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <β No need to download anything!Β Β )
AUDIOBOOK LOVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe youβve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to βlistenββ¦ check out theΒ free audible trial + 2 free ebooks dealΒ β>
- AND! Hereβs the fun-tool again! β>Β Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE!Β <β
Β This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it βMatchmakerβ)! Itβs an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONSΒ (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
Sacked: A Novel (A Gridiron Novel Book 1)Β by Jen Frederick <— SPORTS STAR ALERT!! Lauren went crazy for this one!! “I just read a FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC book by Jen Frederick called Sacked:A Novel (A Gridiron Novel Book 1). Itβs like Elle Kennedyβs & Kristen Callahanβs booksβ¦.in fact, she thanks both authors in the acknowledgments portion of the book. I loved it! You HAVE to read it!“
- ClubwhoreΒ by Kim Jones <— MC BOOK!Β Cait recommends this recent release! “I just finished βclub whoreβ and you get to read this book from the clubwhores point of view! It gets you thinking and this is what Iβv come up with βnever judge a book by its cover as you donβt know anyone to judge them! Enjoyed it!”
- Hausfrau: A NovelΒ byΒ Jill Alexander EssbaumΒ <— PSYCH THRILLER ALERT!!Β Amy was giving this one a go… and she’s really enjoying it! “Hausfrau is going well for me so far. The pacing is CRAZY different in that it goes from present to recent past to a conversation with her psychiatrist and back to present then to long-ago past and back to present, with only a few line spaces to note the transition. It honestly took a bit for me to adjust to all that, but now that I have I can see how each part ties in with the others. Itβs actually pretty brilliant.Β
Β And oh lord, she is a hot freaking mess.”
The Baller: A Down and Dirty Football NovelΒ by Vi Keeland <— SPORTS STAR SUPER-HIT ALERT!! Anne is LOVING this recent release! “I am half way through The Baller and loving it!! This is the type of book I needed right nowΒ
” and Cheryl agrees! “Reading The Baller all day. I love when Iβm reading a book and I get that βfeel.β The one where you are enjoying what youβre reading and the actual writing and you donβt want to stop reading, but you donβt want it to end. Yeh, thatβs what Iβm feeling. *sigh*“
- Imp SeriesΒ by Debra Dunbar <— URBAN FANTASY SERIES!! Michelle is enjoying this series! “Finished Imp series book 3. Really good dark fantasy series and I like where itβs headed.”
- SustainedΒ by Emma Chase <— EMMA CHASE ROCKS ALERT!!!Β Cristina is excited about Emma Chase’s latest release (Appealed), and she went on an Emma Chase love-rant. I thought I’d share it here. π “I seriously laughed my a%$ off reading Sustained! I had tears streaming down my face. If you havenβt read it, please do! It centers around lawyer, Jake Becker. All male, and all hot. The dialogue reminded me of Emma Chaseβs first book in her Tangled series. Ohhhhβ¦β¦ Drew Evansβ¦ *sigh* Jake Becker meets Chelsea in this book. Chelsea recently moves to D.C. after her brother and sister-in-law pass away. She is left to raise her SIX nieces and nephews all by herself (ages 6 months to 14). She meets Becker after one of the kids pick-pockets Becker in a park. He catches the kid and drives him home to tell his parents. There is a scene where Chelsea and the kids catch the stomach flu and Becker (having never raised a kid much less been around them), comes to Chelseaβs aid. I laughed till I cried! What makes Emma Chase such a great writer is these scenes are so close to real life. Unfiltered and messy. I read that scene out loud to my husband and we were both dying laughing. He said, βMan, that does sound like real life.β”
- Tangled (The Tangled Book 1)Β by Emma Chase <— HILARIOUS AND FOUL MOUTHED MALE POV ALERT!Β Cristina is bringing this one back, front row and center! “Emma Chase ROCKS! Tangled will go down as one of my all-time fav books! It just made me laugh so hard, plus its the first book I ever shared with my husband. I didnβt read the entire book to him (not sure I could make it through a steamy scene without a fit of giggles and blushing), but I did read the humorous parts. I found Drewβs point of view just so unfiltered and funny that I wanted my husbandβs point of view. I read a chapter and then stopped and he was like, βYou seriously canβt keep me hanging like that.β. He thought Drew was pretty spot on with his line of thinking. My husband is a muscular, tattooed, alpha man, so thatβs saying something. We had so much fun reading it together.Β Β

Forgotten Promises is intriguing, even if it seems a little out of my usual zone. I think I’ll try it while I wait for Pucked Over and Beautiful Burn.
I’m already listening to Feverborn. They changed the narrators on me, but these two are really good too. I’m starting Baller tonight.
Maryse, thank you so much. I wholeheartedly agree with Kelly’s sentiments.
Finished The Baller and loved it! Brody is my new book boyfriend. He is naughty, has a dirty mouth but is so loyal and caring. I just love him. Great read!
I am starting Clubwhore next.
Excited about Appealed. I love this series!
I’m dying for Beautiful Burn and Pucked Over! 1-clicked Shuttergirl because I heard some great things about that!
The Baller is next for me as soon as I finish Song Of David which I am LOVING!!!! Law of Moses (recommended by Tessa) was simply the most beautiful story and SoD is living right up to it! (Tessa did you read it? Tag’s story!)
What an AMAZING list! I was going to start KA Fantasyland Series next so yeah me!!!! I was also waiting for Free Falling to go on sale…I loved the first book as well! I certainly put Sacked on my TBR! I love Tuesdays!! Thank you Maryse for all your hard work and commitment to bringing these books to all of us!
I totally forgot to say how excited I am about Feverborn!! I just got caught up on this whole series and absolutely fell in love with it! Barrons and Ryodan…OMG!!! Karen Marie Moning is absolutely fantastic!
Feverborn… *sighs* I knew it was right to trust the author. KMM is just making me happy right now. Also, I love Dancer. He’s awesome.
Theresa I am so jealous of you right now! You are starting the Fantasyland series, which is one of my faves ever! Golden Dynasty is just so so so amazing I wish I could turn back time and read it for the first time again.
Need to read the KMM series soon. I’ve only read great things about it.
So many goodies! I’m excited about Never, Never. I haven’t read the series because I was waiting for the series finale! Also, book 2 of the Faraway series by Eliza Freed was released last week. It’s called, “The Lion’s Den.” Book #1 was “The Devil’s Playground.” I wasn’t sure if you listed it last week Maryse? It centers around infidelity which is a touchy subject for some. Two people, who are both in damaged marriages, start an affair of their own. Apparently in book two, the heroine suffers a brain injury and it leads to memory loss. JUICY!!! Oh it sounds right up my alley! Book 1 was fantastic and so very believable! Pure Abandon comes a close second. Ms. Freed does a great job with this taboo subject! So many great books, my heart is full! Next month is Ground Rules 3 AND book 3 of Tiffany Snow’s Risky Business. *Falls back on bed, arms open, and happily sighs* π
Fabi that one does look good. They label him the ultimate bad boy. Out of jail? I’m definitely intrigued!!!
It’s absolutely my pleasure Theresa. I use these lists just as much ays guys. LOL! π
That is SO good to know Tessa. I need to catch up on a couple of them, and if I’m heading right back into “awesome” territory, I will be SO happy!
OMG Cristina that sounds AWESOME! Okay I’m looking it up!!! π
FYI, The Faraway series has had ALL 5 star reviews on Amazon. It really is that good! I’m so disappointed that I didn’t catch the release last week. BUT better late than never. π
Maryse, what caught my attention is that his dad’s the sheriff and doesn’t it say he meets the daughter of the prosecuter or maybe it’s the daughter of a defense attorney. idk, I barely skim blurbs when I read them at all. I just count on you guys to lead me down the right reading path. π
OMFG!!! That’s it. I don’t care. I’m giving it one last ditch attempt to find these damn Amazon cards, if I can’t find them, I’m going to go buy another one. Because… Barrons… and Never Never… And Cunning by Aleatha Romig was supposed be live today too, right? Plus, I want The Baller… yeah, you read that right π
And, the bigger news… I finished the Life of Anna series. *blink, blink* yep I did it, I made it all the way thru. I may be permanently scarred for life.. but I did it!
So yeah, if any of you have any secret voodoo… or rain dances or whatever and can help me out with the finding of these friggin’ cards, that’d be super awesome!
Omg Grey, you actually finished LoA! What did you think? Didn’t the 5th book have a totally different feel?
Forgotten Promises looks good to me too Fabi and Maryse!
Grey! woohoo!!! Doesn’t that feel like one hell of an accomplishment? I swear it’s like a rite of passage or something to get through that series. But, I ditto Jean…what did you think of the ending? And didn’t that last book have a totally different feel? I’m so excited you read it. I think that’s only 3 of us.
“It was too much. At the top of the hill she yelled, she shook out her hands, she stomped her feet. ‘G**dammit!’ She fell to her knees. She curled to a ball on the cold, rocky path. ‘Fix this! Fucking make it stop!’ ”
OMG…I think my chest just caved in…I feel like I’ve been throat punched…my eyes are watery…I wasn’t expecting where the story went and it HURTS. Hausfrau definitely isn’t for everyone (especially if you don’t like h’s who stray), but if you’re a reading twin of mine then you *have* to read this one. If for nothing more than to experience the unique way it unfolds. Excuse me while I go and eat my weight in lemon creme pound cake.
Cristina, I cannot wait for The Ground Rules 3 and book 3 of Risky Business!! Also, the 3rd book of Jewel E Ann’s Jack and Jill series-Dawn of Forever releases Feb. 18. Highly recommend all these!!! February is going to be a GREAT reading month!!
*bounces happily* Feverborn was INTENSE! Things make more sense, if it helps? The Dani thing makes sense. The Mac thing makes sense. Even the Barron thing, though he totally needs a smack upside the head even if I get it now. That said… That ending. It just makes me want to dfhjhfdahfe8rhfea a lot.
That erm, intense, Amy? Sadness and depressing or just angsty?
Fabi, you get to *code word* Shazzam yet?
Grey. congratulations! On the card, *hugs* Good luck. I’m sure it’ll turn up when you least need it.
Holy moly, Tessa! You’re finished with FB already?!? Can I borrow some of your speedy reading skills?
And yeah, Hausfrau is intense which I’m sure you can infer from the blurb. π Angsty? To an extent but not as angsty as other infidelity books because it is more focused on the why as opposed to the what, if that makes sense. What’s killing me right now is an event which just happened that I didn’t expect, and it adds a whole new angle to the devastation of her choices.
Oh, and I was wrong before…she is seeing a psychoanalyst, not a psychiatrist. This line clarified the difference and sums up the overall journey her story takes…
βPsychoanalysis isnβt therapy,β Doktor Messerli replied. βThe intent of most therapy is to make you feel better. Psychoanalysis intends to make you into a better person. Itβs not the same thing. Analysis rarely feels good. Consider a broken bone improperly healed. You must break the bone again and set it correctly. The second pain is usually greater than the initial trauma. Itβs true the journey isnβt pleasant. Anna: it is not meant to be.β
Okay, I’m done with the quotes. Promise. π
Finished The Baller and while it wasn’t perfect, (it had some editing issues), overall I loved it and the “feels” I got from reading it. Now what… I’m anxious to read Feverborn, but I’m just not that motivated to read the previous 2 books.
I seem to remember mixed comments on Never, Never. Although how can you go wrong with that combo of authors.
Have to say Lauren’s comments about Sacked make that a good contender for next along with Appealed. And the premise of Hearts in Darkness has me intrigued. Hmmm…
Tessa, I’m listening to Feverborn. Since I only get an hour or two of listening time/day Mon-Fri, it forces me to savor the book instead of fly through it like I normally would. Well, not as fast as some of you do…but still. So, no, I haven’t gotten to that part yet. I’m about halfway through chapter 3. Oh, and they switched out the narrators, so me (and a whole lot of other people) are totally bummed about it. Phil and Natalie were incredible in Burned and some of the other ones they narrated.
In Kindle, I’m on Chapter 4 of Baller and I am LOVING IT. There really should be a way to make a list in Kindle or on Amazon or somewhere of each of our favorite authors. I’m horrible with names and I’d love a way to keep track of some of these new(er) authors whose writing just really works for me you know? How do ya’ll keep track? Great memories? Spreadsheets? Stalking? lol
Amy, that one sounds INTENSE.
I am reading the first in the KA Fantasyland Series. About 80%. It is good but I don’t know if anything can top Golden Dynasty. It is a little confusing but it definitely gives you some background into Golden Dynasty which I am going to reread before I go onto the 3rd in the series.
Treacherous: Carter Kids #1 by Chloe Walsh is free! Looks like a bully book and it’s one of those I’ve had a long while on my wishlist.
Amy, I’m not sure if that sounds good or scary. π It sounds like both.
Fabi, thank you for putting the chapter down. It gets really good later, but those chapters are super long, but I can’t wait for your analysis.
Wait Tessa, your reaction confuses me to Feverborn…it was good explaining the character deviations but there’s a CH? I can’t decide if I want to read it…my heart can’t take another ‘book that shall not be named.’
Meanwhile, I’m totally enjoying The Baller – HOT and fun, just what I needed right now π
Fabi, did you finish Imp? They’re getting super addicting at book 3. I want to keep going but needed a mini-break. Did you ever finish LotBD? It’s as good as Gann maybe just not as exciting right out of the gate. Yey for The Baller though – Brody is doing it for me!
Michelle, all the issues you had with Burned are explained. Some things I guessed, though some of it just was like, woah! I honestly liked it a lot, though, yep, CH at the end. I can’t tell you if it’s a tolerable CH or not, because CHs don’t bug me.
Michelle I haven’t finished those yet. I actually have a lot of books I need to finish up. I think I have ORD with a little ARD.
Aahhh Tessa! Dang it! I waited a year to read Burned. Now it sounds like its Feverborn I should wait a year to read. It totally sucks that I’ve already started it.
π Just read it! I don’t have a CH gauge. You all said one book didn’t have a CH that I would have called a CH. Besides, it’s KMM. It’s not exactly forgettable. I forgot to re-read Burned first and still remembered things quickly.
Also, if you stop, talk about a CH! π
hahaha you have a good point
Marsye, I keep seeing authirs have pre orders on Itunes but not Amazon. Know anything?
Hmmm still can’t hit the one-click. I do not enjoy CHs. If it explains why Barrons lost his balls, Mac was a whiny nincompoop and Dani is !#$@?%&uduhdejdixny then maybe π
I am half way through Clubwhore and liking it but I was expecting something different. It started out great but now it just good. We’ll see how it goes.
I’m only at 20% of Baller but I haven’t seen any editing issues yet. In fact, I haven’t stopped laughing for a single minute. I’m talking about can’t help myself embarrassing laugh out out while everyone is sleeping laughs.
It explains why Barrons lost his balls, Mac s a whiny nincompoop and Dani is !#$@?%&uduhdejdixny.
Well then. *click*
50% in The Baller and uh oh, didn’t expect that ‘addition’ to the story
*grins impishly* I hope you enjoy, Michelle.
Grave Visions (Alex Craft Series Book 4) by Kalayna Price is for pre-order to be released February 2. She had some major personal stuff and couldn’t write for a while. Now, she has! Yeah! Her last book was released July 2011, so it’s been highly anticipated even though the wait is understandable.
Fabi…I just finished it, and “intense” is putting it mildly. My heart hurts. My BRAIN hurts. It is *heavy* and not for everyone, but I really hope that someone (anyone!) will give it a shot.
The last line…GAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I know some authors like to leave endings in a way that allows us to create our own version of what probably occurred after the last line is read, but DAMMIT! I want to be spoon fed the details of the ripple effects. I. Want. To. Know. Everything. *pouts*
Kathy P…GD was the first I read from that series, and even after reading the others (which were great!) it still remains my favorite, too. π
“…why Barrons lost his balls, Mac was a whiny nincompoop and Dani is !#$@?%&uduhdejdixny…” <——– *snort*
*hitting the floor – thud* I think I just died and went to heaven.
On February 15th … *drumroll*
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Comes the New Standalone Story of Mack from the King Trilogy.
MACK (The King Trilogy Book 4)
L00K at the cover:
*swoon*
I am having a freak out morning. Do all the great books have to come out all at once? Does anyone besides me follow the Ghostwalker series?
Spider Game (GhostWalkers #12)
by Christine Feehan
January 26th!
Why did Delilah change so much? I really liked her at the beginning of Clubwhore but now she lost her spunk. This is a BDSM book which I didn’t know when I started reading it. Not that I mind BDSM but I was expecting something different. Oh well 30% more to go.
Anne, I hate that. You go in expecting one thing and get something so different at the end.
Fabi, that cover… OMG. That’s seriously hot. I wonder what more can be done for the King series though? It seemed complete to me.
Finished Never, Never 3 and… yeah. That’s all.
Aw man, Tessa…that’s not very encouraging. π
I’m considering deviating from my challenge, but just temporarily because I have stuck with it since the beginning of the month. π Anyways, I may go with The Baller since it sounds light enough and I need light right now. As much as I LOVED Hausfrau (I really freaking did) I’m drained after finishing it. And it sounds like The Score might be a bit more emotional than I need right now. And no Feverborn ’cause I haven’t read Iced or Burned and don’t want to deal with a CH. *sigh*
Sooooooo, The Baller it is unless anyone has any other recs that are on the light side?
Tessa, I’m dying to read about Mack!
Amy, Cocky Bastard. I’m feeling your pain. I get empathy pain whenever you read one of those books.
I totally get that Amy. I’m not sure on Baller, but The Score did have a sucker punch.
I didn’t even think about what Mack was about. That picture totally messed with my head! π
Guess what girls… My bestie and I got together last night for a little late Xmas celebrating because we’ve been do busy and then sick kids yada yada yada….but then…then…tucked inside with a bottle of wine and my candy cane chapstick (does she know me or what?!?) Is an amazon gift card *twirls Julie Andrews style in a meadow before doing a full Jim Carrey pelvic thrust* The question now is…which of the shinys is going to be my first? *giggle*
Uhhhhh, Fabi? The last line of the blurb for CB: “Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.”
*scratches head* Are you trying to pull a fast one on me? ‘Cause that sounds kinda ominous. And you KNOW I like to be blindsided and don’t always like to know ahead of time if my heart is going to get pummeled, so that should tell you how much I’ve been affected by the last one. π
Thanks for the heads up on The Score, Tessa! I LOVE to get sucker punched just…not right now. Maybe in a day or two. π
Woo-hoo Grey!! Have fun spending that gift card! Gotta love friends like that. π
Good for you Grey. So many great books being published right now.
lol, no Amy. I don’t remember any gut punched in CB. Just laughter and girly mushy feelings.
BTW Amy, I’m reading Baller right now and its fantastic. But I’m only at 35% and I can see we’re in for some wrenching reveals. I’m worried about Michelle’s comment for the 50% mark.
Congrats Grey!! Amazon gift cards are my golden ticket! There are a LOT of great books out there right now. I say it depends on what mood you’re in. I just finished book #8 of the Chicagoland Vampire series and ready to start book #9, but there are so many other ones that are catching my eye. I’ve been devouring this series like a good piece of chocolate cake! I started it on New Years Day and I’m already on book#9. They’re about 350 pages/piece. I stopped for The Score and Ricochet, but now I’m back at it. Usually I get bored this far in a series, but I’m not even close! I wish we could press pause on time and just cuddle up and read till our heart’s content. You’ll have your wine and I’ll have my coffee. π
Okay then, Fabi…Baller is definitely out right now, and unless my book ADD kicks in then I’ll be reading CB. π
Grey, OMG! That’s awesome! Put that card on your account ASAP! “D Then have fun.
π Chicagoland Vampires really is that good. It always seems overlooked, but I love the series.
Amy. Boy Toy by Jay McLean. It’s hilarious and not much in the way of angst. I absolutely loved it for it’s lightness and humor.
Finished The Baller earlier today…I want a Brody Easton! Really good read, had a few moments were I (in my own head) thought it was going to go one way but thankfully it didn’t!
I had planned on checking out the Clubwhore book but saw were Anne said it wasn’t quite like she thought….hmmm.
Amy – what is Hausfrau – if you don’t mind me asking? Doesn’t sound familiar….
DG since you just finished Baller, would you tell Amy if it has any angst please? I’m on at 35% of it.
Tessa, Boy Toy. I’ve had that on my tbr forever. So, it’s really good huh? I need to move it up. I seem to be needing 1 light read for every 2-3 others lately.
It’s a perfect light read. It just kept me giggling like crazy, especially during the boy’s meetings. I need light reads too. Especially when I either read something so dark or else, just a mood. Ironically, Never, Never made me crave angst. I decided the next book I read will be The Gypsy brothers. That looks gut-twistingly dark!
Amy, I would consider it very low to no angst. There was no wringing hands, stomach drop, wanting to grab a tissue to mop the tears or sweat moments for me. Just sweet love – a little chase, a lot of towel dropping, maybe a little denial and a whole lot of loving. I loved, loved, loved Brody Easton’s bad boy self! There I said it! Move over Nick Sebring!
Cristina just got the first one on the Chicagoland Vampires series. Lets see how it goes π
Amy I agree with DG, The Baller has hardly any angst. Its a pretty light, fun read.
Oh DG!!! I love Brody but Nick Sebring is more of a bad boy. I really love both so its hard to pick one.
Tessa you are reading Seven Sons? It looks pretty dark! Let us know what you think π
EEK! Anne I’m so excited for you!! I agree with Tessa that it is overlooked. I found it because it was suggested to me through Facebook. I love paranormal books so much and was ready for a good vampire story. It’s full of great plots, characters, villains, and of course, some romance. Have fun and let me know what you think! π
Well I read up to 82% of Clubwhore but I am DNFing. Its not a bad book but its just not what I was expecting at all. This is basically a BDSM book and thats not what I wanted to read right now. I thought it was going to be more about Delilah’s live as a Clubwhore. This book was just not for me.
Starting Appealed now π
DG…we never mind questions around here!! *hug* Hausfrau is by Jill Alexander Essbaum. I picked it up when it was 1.99, but even at 11.99 I still think it’s worth it. By the way, hausfrau is “housewife” in German. π
Ladies, thanks so much for the feedback on Baller! I think I’m going with Cocky Bastard ’cause it sounds like it has an Edge of Never feel to it, but Baller will probably be my next 2016-click read. Seriously, what would I do without y’all here??
The Baller was fun, sweet and sexy but yeah not much angst just some emotional parts. I really enjoyed it – Brody was perfect!
I’m not jumping on Feverborn just yet but not sure what I’m starting tonight. Might go back to Imp series or maybe with this talk again, I need to go back to Chigagoland Vampires.
I am a reading The Baller and like it. Did you see the cover? Ok . . . Stop what you are doing and look at the cover. Closely. Do you see what I see? Yep, I see a lot of Brody. But you know what? It’s just not living up to the cover. It’s not nearly descriptive enough for me. Its just not wowing me like I want it to. I mean, I want to know how they feel when they are intimate. It just doesn’t do it. I will finish it and I am sure I would recommend it. But something is missing. I blame those darn hockey players. And you cannot start a book with dropping a towel, later to describe subway and not confirm. Dirty rant over.
Alright. I’m back. So the winner so far. Never Never part 3… Which means I’m gonna do a real quick reread of the first 2…
Haha Sharon totally agree with the lack of description sans towel π No but seriously there wasn’t enough details maybe intimately to really get inside their relationship. The 3rd POV introduced at about the 50% mark also irked me. I enjoyed it though for mostly Brody but it’s not her best book.
I went with book 4 of Imp…they are really addicting once you get rolling. I’m also a little broke after I keep buying them. At least they aren’t as expensive as Chicagoland Vampires!
Finished book one of the Gypsy brothers, and yep. I am reading something else real quick. Gypsy is going to be intense, so I want happy first.
Michelle, I agree with you. The 3rd POV was just not enjoyable. I want to finish The Baller so I can get to Appealed!
When I get home I have to share the titles from my random book box. Just came. Love getting a box of books.
Michelle, *sigh* just was reading a spoiler post on feverborn. They Didnt really enjoy it. And they felt the same about the last book. Sounds like some of the same problems I had with the last one. So……I’m waiting.
Sharon and Michelle…I completely agree with both of you. I finished The Baller a couple of days ago and needed sometime to ponder…
I agree that there just wasn’t enough detail about the H/h’s relationship to really feel their connection and the 3rd POV at 50% threw me, I didn’t want to know this POV or empathize with her at all! I kept thinking in any other book I would be cheering for a 2nd chance love but the 3rd wheel just ticked me off…and at the point that this 3rd wheel came into the story I wasn’t feeling any confidence in H/h’s relationship/connection. I really wanted to know what the conversation between 3rd wheel and H looked like after the h walks. I still enjoyed the book and finished it quickly but it doesn’t replace Beat or Throb for me.
Read Never Never 3 last night and really it was just an epilogue wasn’t it! Half an hour of reading to tie up the ends. I think the time between books with this series killed it for me and I probably should have re-read the first two books to regain my love for the characters . Best read all together I think.
Grey you realize that now that you have been given replacement gift cards *wonderful friend BTW* the others will miraculously re-appear. It’s Murphy’s Law. Enjoy picking some new shinys…there are so many great new releases ATM. π
I have just finished The Offer -a re-read for me as I’m about to start The Play….and can I just say these smoking hot Scottish lads have got it going on. Bring on the hottness of Lachlan.
I am on a reading marathon…cramming in as many books as I can because I just found out I’ve got two contracts with the University to teach for this next semester and I know I’ll be bogged down reading dry dusty text and assignments. I could almost cry for how little reading I’m going to get done when the semester starts in March. π
What do you teach, Lisa? And congratulations.
Hi Bev..in RL I am an Occupational Therapist so I teach OT third years Primary Healthcare and I am also clinical placement supervisor for the Masters students and third years…which I love because I visit my students on their clinical neurology and mental health placements.
Has anyone read Dirty Ugly Toy yet??? Looks like a dark read….downloaded a “sample” to see if it would hold my attention….very intrigued…Definitely different H/h.
Oh wow, Lisa. That sounds really interesting and busy.
Definitely busy Bev. And one of the reasons I love getting lost in book world…its the best decompress in the world.
I agree about The Baller. The intimate times between the H/h needed more description not because I like smut but because I needed to see their connection during those times. But I still loved this book and Brody.
I am 35% in Appeal and loving it!! I really like this series so much!
I have to share my book box, cause where else? Awesome because have not read or own these books.
Secret Sisters by Jayne Ann Krentz.
Misconduct by Penelope Douglas
Seasons of Sorrow by C.C. Wood
It’s a Wonderful Wife by Janet Chapman
The Collar by Tara Sue Me
Dangerously Broken by Eden Bradley
The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire by Molly Harper
Jaded by Anne Calhoun
Glimmer by Beth Kerry
Dragon’s Lair by Chantal Fernando
Shadow’s End Thea Harrison
Lisa, that does sound cool. Congratulations! Even if you have to read dry text, it’ll be fun.
Now… Never, Never. What did you think of the ending?
Tessa I am scratching my head a little with the ending of Never Never and wondering if I didn’t *feel* it because it was so long between books I’d kind of fallen out of love with Silas and Charlie. Or I didn’t find their connection familiar if that makes sense. This is my personal issue mind you! I don’t do CH’s for this very reason…once I’ve stopped reading a book my care factor for the characters diminishes and I’m off on my next book falling in love with someone else.
My recommendation would be to read them back to back…then it would work. Which makes me wonder why it wasn’t released as a single book.
Anyone else have an opinion or thought…….
There’s a spoiler. But, yeah. I wasn’t happy about the ending. It wasn’t released as a single book because Colleen Hoover’s contract won’t let her release a full novel with a non publishing-house author. I guess they are different companies so they had to be safe.
Erm, let me rephrase. There’s a discussion in the spoiler thread on here.
Oh Goodness I hope I didn’t spoil anything….except that i didn’t feel them anymore.
And Tessa that makes sense about why it wasn’t released as a single book…but I wonder if the authors feel like it should have been. Maybe one day it will be? Contracts don’t last forever.
You didn’t reveal a thing. This blog has a spot called discuss, and on there is a spoiler thread. π I am just dying to actually talk! I think it should have been one book. It just feels like one book, not three.
I read the first Never Never but didn’t bother with the others. Not because I didn’t like it, but because the others weren’t published yet. By the time the other parts of the book came out I had moved way beyond the story. *shrug* Y’all know I can’t do that partial book thing unless all the parts are already published and I can read them back to back. If they’re all available its just an inconvenience. But, if parts of the story aren’t even available it does nothing but make me mad I wasted time on an unfinished book.
Are y’all tired yet of me getting on this same soapbox? Hell, I think I’M tired of me doing it.
In other news, I’m at 45% of Baller. I squirreled and read a short novella this evening. I’m debating going back to Baller or not.
Oh Bev, that was an awesome box of books you received. Several of those are on my wish list or tbr. What a totally cool surprise to get a box of books like that.
Yes. Go back to Baller Fabi. You are getting to the twisty bit *waggles eyebrows*. And I want to know what you think.
I’ll never get sick of your soapbox!! Im right there with you….thats pretty much why I didnt or dont get the *feels* with follow up books. I am waaaay beyond those characters by the time the next installment comes out. Ive got a fat file of unfinished series on my kindle to prove it.
I think 2016 should be the year of stand alones for me.
Lisa, I already made that stand alone or complete book decision before the end of 2015. I’m also happy to see some authors are getting the message and proudly announcing right in the blurb if its a complete stand alone novel. I love it when I see that announcement.
Ok. So Ive finally set up my Goodreads profile and logged in all my books for this year…14 books read this month alone!! Ive set a challenge of 150 books this year but I feel cheeky counting Never Never 3 because it wasn’t really a book. *Shrugs*
Ooohhh, look me up on GR Lisa. That’s my challenge count for the year too. Although I only have 9 so far even counting a novella.
Me too Fabi. That makes it a one-click no brainer.
GET THAT AUTHORS!! I’ll one click any standalone you chuck my way. π
Bev, how did I miss that post? There are so many there I want to read. You are going to have a blast with your box of books!
Just need to actually read them, still have not read through the last box. But love the random aspect of it.
33% into Hearts of Fire. Tad bit slow for me. Hopefully pick up soon.
Bev! I know I’m seeing A LOT of negative reviews for Feverborn and getting scared. Tessa, said it addressed my hangups over the character ‘deviations’ err implosions – no pressure I promise Tessa π – but ughh seriously this is my last go with the series if it doesn’t deliver :/
Anybody read Bite the Dust by Cynthia Eden or Scent of Salvation by Annie Nicholas? Both just caught my attention.
Tessa, I can’t stop laughing…in book 4 Sam and Gregory are in an airport and she’s explaining security. “You’ve got your mojo working on them pretty well right now, but if you step in that machine and you’re not wearing a penis and some balls, there is going to be an uproar.” Then she proceeds to describe what his equipment should look like and he throws a tantrum LOL
*sighs* Isn’t that a wonderful problem to have? You have a lot of books to read, and some have us salivating in envy. π
Okay. I have to say this. Most of the EEP happened at the end of Burned. Burned was continuing on to this book. I can see why some are still ticked off, but yes, it is explained. Technically, Mac was explained in Burned, but this one she does something about it. Barron… He’s explained, and yes. There is more there. They aren’t even done with what’s going on, just this “thing” is mentioned and stuffs. Dani… I teared up a bit. So, yep. Things are explained, and a bit more. However! CH! I re-read that end and definitely CH.
I’ve read only one of Cynthia Eden’s books, Bit of Bite. I forgot about that until I looked. That might be fun to read. I grabbed some freebies from Annie Nichols. You never know when one will be good.
Oh, has anyone read the Secret McQueen series? I borrowed it through booklending and I’m curious what you all think. I should say, though, I’m only on chapter 2, so I have no opinion yet.
ROFL Alright, you persuaded me to do what I’ve been wanting to do this whole day! *one clicks number 4* I love that series!
Just finished Appealed and loved it! Great series!
Tessa and Michelle what books are you talking about? They sound great!
The Imp Series by Debra Dunbar. It’s funny. The main character is a slumlord imp. It’ is great. She basically just wants to live her life without attracting angels. There is a lot of action and humor in it.
Thanks Fabi…I’ve clicked you as my first Goodreads friend π
“We hear that your prince,” said Lady Jokaste, “keeps his own harem. – First line Thursday….. Captive Prince.
I’m at 35%. I’m behind all my BR peeps on this one. So far so good. hate Laurent. Wish there were some secondary characters to like. Keeping fingers crossed. He’s about to get his hand slapped by the Regent… yipee.
Please tell me that this is not going to be like Tied Man or Acheron….? I don’t know why I have a hard time with men suffering abuse.
Fabi & Lisa, I’m right there with you when it comes to unfinished series. For one, I DESPISE cliffhangers, but only when the next book isn’t available. So for me, when the second book finally comes out, the first one has long been forgotten… a distant memory. Let’s face it, when your knee deep in book one, and then finish it only to find out there’s a three-four month (or more) wait for the next one, it messes with the mojo. It takes away from the flow of the story. I am not a “re-reader.” Very rarely do I read the same book twice, mainly because I just can’t relive those same first time feels. Plus my TBR list is too long as it is, and my time is fleeting. I like to keep moving forward. To date, there are only a handful of series in which I’ve hopped back on when the next installment was out. Ground Rules was the most recent. Risky Business (Tiffany Snow) and the Faraway series (Eliza Freed) are two others. 90% of the time I just wait until the series is finished or very close to it. π
I was waiting to hear some feedback on Feverborn, but don’t want to see any possible spoilers, so I started scrolling down if I saw the book title. Looks like the general feel is that KMM has redeemed herself after Burned? So that will be up next. Bev? Michelle? Have you two read it? I think you both felt like I did about Burned, right?
MichelleS, CP is dark but not like those two books. I hope it works for you fingers crossed.
No I’m waiting on Feverborn. Read a spoiler thread/review. A review blog that felt the same about Burned……and no. I think with the probable disappointment I’d feel + CH I’ll wait until the next one.
But if you or Michelle read it let me know. Tessa liked it a lot.
I’m not sure what Fabi thinks. Curious as to what she thought of Burned since we were divided here.
“I had a list.”–Hearts of Fire by LH Cosway
Bev, you won’t be surprised to hear I loved Burned since I’m so often the oddball.
I’m on chapter 11 of Feverborn and I’m not enjoying it as much as I did Burned. I still love being in that world though. This might actually be a good thing for you and Michelle and MichelleS, maybe it means you guys will like this one better than Burned.
I’m at 70% of Baller. Trying to get all the way through it. It’s not bad, its just not holding my attention for long stretches of time.
First Line Thursday:
‘It was rent day and I was loitering on a sidewalk. surrounded by plastic action figures, an obscene wad of cash in my pocket.’
Devil’s Paw (Imp 4) by Debra Dunbar
Boy did I need this book. Never, Never screwed with me so badly, I couldn’t read anything else.
Fabi, I think the reason you are not liking it as much is because it has less action than they normally do. Have you read the Shazaam part yet?
If not, just tell me how you feel when you get to it. There won’t be any questions as far as what I’m talking about.
Reading Time and Space, Rachel Robinson. Page turner, so suspenseful. Plot I can’ t figure out, and I’m pretty good at seeing the end. Third of the way through. This is a great read with an unusuall love triangle due to SEAL being found that was suppose to be dead and fiancΓ© with another but their is a dangerous revenge plot going on.
Love this series, you get the familiar but no CH. next coming out end of year.
OMG Theresa… now I wanna read THAT one!!!!! I MUST!!!!! THAT SOUNDS PERFECT! Considering how much I loved #1. Do I have to read #2 first?
Tessa, yes I’m past the part where Shazzam was introduced and also the part where it appears the 2nd time. But I’m not sure if you have a question about it or me or?
You may be right about the action thing. I do prefer quite a bit more action in my stories. I especially like reading about crazy alpha antics in books. There isn’t much of that going on, but I’m only on Chapter 11.
MichelleS, I haven’t started Feverborn yet since I’m still stuck on the Imp series and a few other paranormal reads I might try first. I dunno, I want to read it but then I don’t want to be disappointed again.
Tessa, I really really need a Gregory POV. He is all over the map with Sam – totally bipolar for this book! I have no idea what he expects from her besides trying to change her even more.
Tessa, you and Michelle are making me anxious to get back to my Imp book. I need to finish up Baller and go right back to that one. π
First of all…CONGRATS to Lisa on your job and to Bev for that great box of books!!!!! π
Secondly…serials and starting unfinished series with CH’s. Nope, nope, NOPE. I can’t stand serials that come out little by little (I’d rather wait for a complete volume when it’s finished), and the only way I’ll start a series anymore is if the books don’t end on CH’s…which is where all of you come in, my fabulous friends! If I didn’t have all of you to count on for that kind of info…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. π
First line Thursday!
“Ironically, since the attacks, the sunsets have been glorious.” ~ Angelfall by Susan Ee
Yep, after all of my begging yesterday and then finally deciding on Fabi’s rec of Cocky Bastard, all of your talk of Feverborn and the Imp books made me nostalgic for my early reading days of PNR/UF series. That, and rainy days seem to make me want to read PNR series. Don’t ask me why, they just do and I’m past trying to make sense of it. So, Penryn it is!
OMG Amy, I can’t believe you’re reading Angelfall. That’s awesome.
Fabi, right?? And what’s even better is that it’s a 2014-click for me so I can still stick with my personal challenge! π
Angelfall is one of the best, especially amongst angel books. Lucky you, Amy! It’s intense.
Fabi, nope. Just really liked the Shazaam thing. π
Michelle, I have so many theories about Gregory. He’s just one huge enigma. We know he knows far more than he ever tells her, but I think there’s more about her he knows and won’t tell.
yup, I do too Tessa. Reminds me of a Disney cartoon I can’t mention without giving away spoiler.
Baller, 77%, end of Chapter 32.
*minor/major freakout*
What is wrong with you people? I am bawling my eyes out. I have a 3pm meeting and no makeup left on my face, a bright Rudolph nose, and an ache in my chest.
I may have to come after every one of who said there was no angst in this book.
*freakout done* I still love y’all. You’re just a whole lot tougher than I am.
Whoa Fabi. Now you have me wanting to read Baller next…
Tessa, I really am enjoying it so far! It’s giving me exactly what I was craving, the feels I used to get when I was obsessed with YA PNR books.
The last angel-themed series I read (at least that I can remember) was the Premonition series by Amy Bartol, and that was 3 years ago. She finally came out with the final book (after 3 years :?) but now I don’t remember enough and don’t really care enough to read it. Which sucks, because I remember really liking it. *sigh*
*snort* Sorry Fabi…it’s just kinda funny to be watching a freakout instead of having one. π
I’ll have a nice, strong martini and Manny waiting in the blankie fort for when you get out of your meeting. Maybe Maryse will pop in and give you a pretty sparkly pink bow, too. π
I DO have extra pink sparkly bows. Let’s huddle in our fort and I’ll get “bowing” π
Who knew…..started Dirty Ugly Toy (at 45%) and I got to say that I am hooked! There are too many unknowns and I have GOT to know!!!
Not a light read…H is not a Prince Charming but I am holding out hope!
Amy – I’m a little late to the party…by a couple years…so who is this Manny? Deets, please….
Manny is a stuffed manatee (like our version of a teddy bear) that we all “virtually” share to snuggle, and sob on while reading. π
The reason we are fixated on a manatee is that one of our favorite books (Night Owl by M. Pierce) the reclusive, angry main hero received one as a gift, and he snuggled it (and we thought that was SO CUTE since he was such an ornery, albeit sexy, hero).
So we snuggle our “Manny” It’s really Amy’s but Amy is awesome and she shares him with us.
LOVE it! Everybody should have a Manny! Or a blankie…even if it has holes from the pup decided it might taste good….
Puppy holes makes it even more special DG!!!
Yep DG…what Maryse said! π
And he has to be bathed frequently ’cause we tend to snuffle on him…or on whoever is within grabbing distance. *giggle*
Holy moly, some of you are reading machines lately!!
MARYYYYYYYYYYYSE!! Pink, pink, and MORE PINK!!!!
https://www.temptalia.com/mac-flamingo-park-collection-for-spring-2016#comments
HOLY MOLY AMY!!! I AM HOOKED!!!! I never thought as a redhead (although that’s debatable now… some say I’m brown-haired) LOL!!! But anyway… I never thought pink would look good on me but I LOVE IT!!! Of course… for me it’s the subtle light (peachy-ish) pinks… but I LOVE!!!!!!!
Tessa, wait until you get to the ending of book 4! I have to go right to book 5 with no break. Ending is abrupt but it worked.
*sucker punched straight to the belly* geez I know, I mean really know that I should have seen one of the truths coming. But I didn’t. Only 56% into Dirty Ugly Toy and I WILL be finishing it tonight. Who really needs sleep even if my day starts at 5:30am……
Tessa, I hear Gomer Pyle in my head every time you say that.
Which? Shazaam or something else? π
Michelle, it’s that interesting? Ohhhh! *eyes wide* I have a feeling I’m going to be spending all my card on imps next month. This series is Sooooooooooooo good. I’m at the interruption in Alaska. *squees*
Amy, finally, a set I can swoon over. I can wear pinks! From coral to almost purples. It is the ultimate YEAH! collection.
DG, you are tempting me more with that Dirty Ugly Toy. The blurb sounds perfect for more of that dark type read. Is it?

lol I heard it and the first thought that came to my head was some basketball player in a movie. π
Oh Amy…I loved Angelfall…Penryn and Rafe…completely forgot about them too.
I never got around to reading the last book…..as we said, unfinished series and big delays between books blah blah blah….
First line Friday:
‘How long do you have to be absent of dick before you’ve been re-virginized?’
The Play. Karina Halle π
*snort* *shakes head* I freak out because a book makes me cry and Maryse jumps in with an “oh! I want to read that!”.
Nuts I tell ya, we are all nuts around here
I love the cry-ey moments!!!! I can’t help it. If it freaks you out so bad that you tell us about it mid-read, you know it’s a doozy!
Lisa, I love your first line “Fridays”. lol
And that’s a doozy of a first line. π
Tessa – it does have a dark feel to it with moments that are not completely twisted…throw in a hint of BDSM. Not sure how dark of a read you prefer….but I haven’t been disappointed yet. Maybe sucker punched and throw in a little ‘oh no he didn’t’ but not disappointed.
It may not be a doozy for you guys. But I’m at 89% and my stomach is tied up in knots. I think I have to take another break from reading it.
Now just compare my reaction to all the others here who said this book wasn’t angsty and maybe just a little emotional. :-0 See why I can’t read those gut wrenchers y’all read? I’m a total wuss. :-/
Well, Tessa that answers my questions about Never, Never.
Fabi, as far as editing issues, I guess for this author I was surprised at the amount of almost careless mistakes in grammar and then chronological mistakes-dinner plans at 7, but then she shows up as scheduled at 5. Little things that just kinda bugged me, but certainly didn’t take away from the “feels” of the story. I didn’t think there was major angst, more periods of sadness and heartache. Even though, amongst the heartache there were funny moments woven in.
Dirty Ugly Toy….per K Webster’s warning at the beginning of the book….”However, those that keep an open mind and stick with it will not be disappointed.” Absolutely agree!
Overall for me it had the perfect balance of dark to light. Standalone, HEA, no rushed ending. SCORE!
First line thursday that I forgot to do that I guess now is friday and since I finished the book does it really matter…
“I donβt see her until Iβm three quarters of the way up the stands.” Sacked: A Novel (A Gridiron Novel Book 1) by Jen Frederick.
I was also thinking that I didn’t feel major angst with The Baller because it was told in both POV’s which to me minimizes what angst there is because you know what the other person (H) is thinking and feeling and his response to what she does.
Reading The Baller right now and Sustained is waiting on my Kindle.
I just finished Baller. Vi Keeland wrote the perfect book boyfriend. π
Cheryl I wonder if we didn’t get different copies of the book. I only saw two small copy edit mistakes in mine. For an indie book, that’s pretty near perfect.
I thought both characters were pretty perfect too. It wasn’t a light read for me, but had just enough emotional upheaval for a CR to make my tummy twist and turn.
Cheryl, please let me know what you think of Sacked. I have it on my tbr.
Fabi, I can be slightly off on the emotions & angst too. In that everyone will be talking about a scene or book just leaving them sobbing or find it really profound. And I will read it and be all……eh & huh.
Then there will be these little moments that others don’t seem to react to that just slay me.
There was a book we BR on here where the heroine hears a recording of a voice of someone she cared for that was gone. It was a signal she was finally safe. Killed me. I know that feeling of hearing some ones voice who is gone. So maybe that is why.But I don’t know that others responded to it that way.
I’m the same way bev and fabi. I can absolutely fall in love with a book that I was just liking… depending on a scene (or moment). Of course, that doesn’t mean that an amazing scene will make me love a book I’m not enjoying much, but it sure helps me remember it!
All right Maryse. Jellicoe Road. Have you given it up?
LOL!!! Not yet… but after Celeste’s post about #3 in Suanne’s series, I HAD TO. I just HAD TO. And since I finished #3 in Elle Kennedy’s series (YAY I’m catching up on series) I figured I’d do #3 in the Fish Tales, too. π
Michelle! The end of four was a ,major heart clench. I actually teared up. *frowns* I love this stupid series.
Oh I missed that MAC collection! I have a lot of pink lipsticks already so will probably pass on those but love the pigments and blushes.
I enjoyed The Baller Fabi but yeah my angst meter is getting pretty high. I barely teared up *shrugs*
Tessa, the ending was so sad! Book 5 is a lot of hopeless situations as well π I jumped in hoping to see a reunion soon but nothing yet. Sam is changed and damaged so far in a very bad way but fingers crossed she comes out even better than before.
I wanted to knock out Imp 1 next but Pucked Over derailed me. Maybe I can read a lot this weekend. I have 3 loans, Imp 1, Edgelanders, and The Play that I really should get to next. Damn these great new releases. LOL
It gets more hopeless? Eep! Now I really want to read it. Poor Sam. That end just made all forms of sad. Especially when she tried at the end with that one guy and failed. I felt for her.
Tessa, I’m blubbering away over here. The ending of 5 is even worse so far. Sam is just kicked and then when she’s down, kicked again, but come on with 10% left she has to prevail! The title…waiting for it π
Tessa and Michelle…WHAT on earth are you guys reading that has you all worked up like that?!?
The Imp Series by Debra Dunbar. π It’s insanely good. Right now, I’m cursing my card only issue and REALLY wanting number five if that’s how bad it is. You know me, Amy. Normally I shy away from sobbing, but the story has me big time, and that ending had me teary eyed. Now five is worse? MICHELLE! It was supposed to get better!
Tessa *fist pump* badassery ensued π My favorite book in the series so far! Taking a detour and finishing up the Never Never series…I know I heard it sucks but I have to finish. Then probably Bite the Dust since I’m still curious.
Amy, Imp series by Debra Dunbar. Angels, demons, elves and humans. Dark fantasy, funny, smart, intriguing plot. Oh and you are reading Angelfall too – really great first book!
I could have NEVER stopped at the ending of book 4 where it left off! Tessa, do you want book 5, it’s lendable?
*nods* Yes, please? I can’t get anything until next week, so I’m fine. However. this series has me addicted. I’m so glad there’s some kick, because I have a huge feeling after that last one, this book is going to hurt.
The Never, Never ending will take maybe an hour? I was done in less than that so at least the sucky ending won’t be a waste of life.
Kiss an Angel is very very good. Have re-read it a few times. Great setting, grumpy hero, and humor.
Tessa why was the ending so bad? Have still only read the first book.
So, 25%. I’m glad that I’m a bit surprised in how it is going. With the whole casting of the show and her new job.
It just wasn’t up to par with the rest of the series. It was a bow tie ending, which left a lot of questions.
Woke up to a foot of snow and still getting slammed! Expecting over 20 inches here. And as much as I want to snuggle in and read I can’t because of the worry over our family shore house…..looks like it definitely got flooded:(
*hugs* That’s horrible Jean. It’s horrible having to deal with floods, but at least you are safe. Prayers to you over there. Hopefully, the damage won’t be too bad and easily fixed with insurance.
Thanks Tessa, I could use the hug! I keep telling my mom the same thing, that’s what insurance is for…..
Ok, going to try to escape reality and jump back into Pucked Up!
Jean, I am sorry to hear that. I hope it is not too bad. Stay safe.
Thanks bev!
JEAN!!!!!!!!
*tackles and hugs Jean*
I saw all the stuff on the news this morning and I was so worried about you! So sorry to hear about your shore house. π
Everyone else on the East coast okay? Hope y’all are able to check in here soon. I know you guys have bigger things to think about right now but it would put a spazzy-worrier’s heart at ease. π
Thanks Amy! I’ll take that tackle and hug! Yeah if you see a boat floating down the street in front of a house that’s our house! Luckily there’s a fence around our house (which you can’t see because the water is so high), but that seems to have prevented someone’a boat from crashing into our house! It was on the news…. so crazy! But here at home, we still have power so far. I can’t even concentrate on reading and that’s sucking so bad!
Oh Jean! That’s awful. π Remember though that as long as everyone is safe everything else has a solution. *big hugs*
Thanks fabi! I finally settled in, made myself a cup of hot chocolate, and am going to attempt to read.
Jean that’s so awful!!! *big hugs*
Sitting inside watching the snow continue to come down, although it seems to have slowed down. Over 12″ so far…
Fabi, Sacked was a fair–>good, lighthearted read, but it was not comparable to The Score or The Baller. Although, I don’t think it will make you cry. π
Thank you for the feedback Cheryl. I have it in my tbr but I think I need a change of pace from CR right now. Maybe I read too many in that genre in January.
Boo Never Never series ended up disappointing for me. Oh well I had to finish it.
Tessa, do you have an email you can put up here? If so, I will send book 5 over π I want to just go to book 6 but I’m restraining myself and trying some different pnr/uf series for now. I’ll probably cave soon.
Jean, that horrible! At least you are safe. I lucked out and live a little too far in northern PA that we only got a few inches but my sister in Maryland has over 3 feet!
Stay safe Jean and everyone on the East Coast. *hugs*
Okay. *hangs head* I couldn’t resist. I love knowing I can go back to this imp series. I went and got it. Went scounging and got enough for five. *blushes and runs off*
Haha Tessa you’re still not as bad as me, I bought the whole series after the first two books. I’m kinda OCD about completing series and owning all the books once I start. Even series I didn’t like I have them all…*sigh* it’s a problem. Good thing, is that after book 5, you get a nice stopping point in the series unlike 4.
Which is good! So this way, next month, I can go nutty and buy the rest of the series. π I won’t buy any series in full until I know I love it. Even then, I will take forever to buy the thing, wondering if I’ll hate them and my love for it is just a thing that will end.
Can’t wait to hear what you think of 5. I thought it was such a great book and I’m thrilled with where the series is going!
Anybody else wish they could just stay home this Monday and read?
MichelleS, lol. You’ll find out.:-P And come on. The slow burn books are the best. Speaking of……
Kulti!! That is a book to start on a day off so you can just keep on reading.
