WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! TIFFANY REISZ SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! And my friend Natasha went CRAZY for this one!!! ➔ The Bourbon Thief
Natasha: Soooo good, Maryse. … I sure did!! It’s an amazing page-turner, with an incredibly provocative and unexpected storyline, and written so so beautifully. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Monique Maryse, I just finished reading The bourbon thief by Tiffany Reisz, and I’m lost for words. My words couldn’t do this book justice so you need to read it. This book unexpectedly intoxicated me and was an absolute top shelf read, you will want to savior every sip…I mean page! This brings new meaning to a book hangover!””
Marina: Bourbon Thief was a great one! In a way had a Jezebel vibe to it. I would definitely put it up there near the top for this year’s reads. Tiffany Reisz is just a writing goddess…”
MAGIC WORDS!!! Yep. I one clicked it!! 😀
Happy new release day!!! 80+ new releases today… not a bad day at all, including a few highly anticipated books (like Breath of Fire – that on there to the left). Book #1 (A Promise of Fire (The Kingmaker Chronicles Book 1) was frequently chosen as a favorite of 2016, and today, the saga continues!
Plus, a new “Rock Chick” release by Kristen Ashley (Rock Chick Reawakening), a hockey star book by Sarina Bowen (Hard Hitter), a few series conclusions (like one from Lili St. Germain – Empire (Cartel Book 3), and one from C.D. Reiss – Separation Games (The Games Duet Book 2)), plus a super-heartwarming/heartwrenching one by Jane Harvey-Berrick that I JUST found out about, today (One Careful Owner: Love Me, Love My Dog)!!! Oh I wanna read that one SO BAD (he’s considered “crazy”), except… I don’t go there. Where? Er… read the blurb, and you’ll see one of my hard-limits.
And it’s not what you think (considering I love dark reads). *snort* This is NOT one of those, but OMG, there are SOME things… I just can’t. AND a super-romance PARANORMAL (shifters!!) by reader-favorite, Katy Regnery (It’s You), that fellow-reader Nancy says “…this is the best I have read since TWILIGHT.”
!!!!!! What what whaaaaaaaaaaaat??!!!! Oh!! And a new comedy romance that I bet will be SO fun… (We Were On a Break). AND AND!!! I added what I could to my library wait list this morning, but a lot of them aren’t available so I’ll be trying to pick and choose carefully what I buy so I don’t spend my whole kindle gift card in 1 go!! It’s so hard. Also!!! Not book related, but have you seen that Ed Sheeran is back and releasing new music Friday!?! I’m so excited, I feel like there’s been such mystery since he took a year off social media that it adds to the build up of the big moment.
Well, that resolution didn’t last long – clickity click click click!! How can you NOT one click a book about “Love me, love my dog?” And add to it that he’s “crazy”. (read that as broken, and needs to be fixed). I’m all over it!!!
I’m guessing that the dog dies.
Yes, Grey. You win my glare.
*glares*
Tasha, my pre orders in Jan our I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and conditions by Erin Lyon and Caraval by Stephanie Garber.
I never ever post on here (first time so Hi!)… But has anyone read Rock Chick Reawakening yet? I’m a mess. A big blob of tears. I think I look worse now than I did after having my girl. But I’m SO HAPPY!! I can’t stop!
I don’t want to read anything else from the list yet, I just want to stay in my happy Daisy and Marcus bubble…
But if anyone has read it, and recommends something that will top it, I’m open to suggestions!
*hugs* Carly!!!
Welcome Carly. And here’s “Manny” the stuffed manatee to snuggle with. He’s our snuggler for when we ugly cry. Or even mini-cry. 🙂
bev, of course the dog dies.
I’m with you on Caraval, Bev. I just looked up ILYSTTFTAC (lol) and that looks SO good too! Adding that to my list also.
*throws confetti in the air* Yay! I won! Sorry, I came back from vacation to discover that my fridge had died… And all the food in it, gone. This, winning the first post slot, is giving me a little pleasure right now, hold still while I give you a hug bev! *Giggle*
Amy, did you read the next 2 books of Kiss Me Hard? I didn’t realize it was a trilogy.
All I can hear in my head is Ross screaming at Rachel…..”WE WERE ON A BREAK!!!!!”.
LOL!!! I know it, Lauren. I LOVED that episode. All sorts of feels and infuriation!!! 😛
THEY WERE ON A BREAK….LMAO
Hey Carly! I just realized Marcus and Daisy’s book was released today, so I’m starting it tonight! And I’m sorry but I can’t recommend anything else because I’ve never found anything that compares to Kristen Ashley! Maybe after I see where K.A. takes their storyline, I’ll think of something.
Maryse–I saw that you one-clicked the Whispering Pines trilogy. I highly recommend all three books. I zoomed through them!
Maryse, what are you reading?
Oooh a Katy Regnery PNR. I’m there. *click*
Bargain alert!! Laura Florand’s Once Upon A Rose is on sale for $0.99 AUD (on amazon Australia) for one week only, I guess cos the new one in the series, Crown of Bitter Orange, is coming later this month. Tristan’s story. Oh myyyyyyyy. Can’t wait.
*holding Manny in a death grip*
Thanks Maryse! I’ll give him back eventually…
Nay, I’ve never found anything that compares to K.A either, but I hope the story goes where you want it to! *Passes tissues* You’ll need these..
*hands Carly a blanket fort packet* In case it’s needed too.
Aw Carly… *big welcome hug* I’m so glad you came here for comfort snuggles!! Snuffle away on Manny. 😉
Tessa, I didn’t read the other two yet…are you going to? What did you think of KMHBYG??
Everything You Want Me to Be…MINE!!!!
You know what? I’m actually tempted to go through my library and start deleting books which no longer look interesting to me. Would that be sacrilegious? 😕
Amazon has Tiffany Snow’s Kathleen Turner series books 1-5 for .99 each!!
Amy “Would that be sacrilegious?”
I guess we’ll be both be sacrilegious because I’ve been thinking about doing that for months now.
Welcome Carly! I think we need to initiate her in the ways of the book club… I will make her a blankie fort. Amy will start mixing the drinks, and bev, what are the three questions we are going to answer tonight??
Hi Carly. Welcome!
Fabi and Amy I’ve been doing that very thing with the *gasp* hundreds of samples I’ve downloaded on my kindle. I’m reading some, to actually decide whether to buy the whole book or not. But others, I’m thinking, why did I download THAT?? *delete*
I just finished Rock Chick Reawakening. I have to say that this is my favorite book in the series! I fell in love with Daisy and Marcus reading and rereading the Rock Chick series. I’m so glad KA told their story and it ended with a Prince Charming, a huge castle and other surprises!
I also clicked Wolfsong. I don’t really read M/M, but everyone loves it and I don’t want to be left out! Plus it has wolves, so yeah
I also got Big Girls Do It Running. I have been waiting for this to go on sale and yay it finally did!
No, but tell us what books. Maybe you have an unknown gem.
Ask you 3 questions? Lol.
Just hypothetical. Like in a book.
Now that we know Maryse ‘ s HARD LIMIT.
What happens if you have a rec for Maryse and she says no?
What happens if afterward Manny and you are just hanging out when you really look at him and thought, hmmm?
What would Maryse do if she got an anonymous note subtly making demands and reminding her of HARD LIMITS and a bit of grey fur?
I mean only in a book….A Marmy type book.
*Carly runs like he!! from bev*
And that just looks like a really excited “he.”
*Carly runs like HECK from bev.” There. Better.
How do we know that Carly didn’t send the note?
You may have just told the kidnapper to run faster.
In the other direction.
I wasn’t telling, I was observing. Like blog commentating.
Maybe I did send the note.
Maybe I didn’t. You’ll never know
*cackles and twiddles fingers whilst toasting Manny*
Right.
And not saying I’ve acquired a chubby alcoholic manatee. I was hypothesizing. Like blog storytelling.
Yeah.
That’s all I was doing.
Maryse is going to read Wolfsong??? SQUEEEEEEEEE
kingmaker Chronicles Book Two – click click click – yeehaw!
So glad you’re here to remind me of books I can’t forget about!!!
Trying to catch up on comments and posts. Still need to go thru all the 2016 fav lists. *sigh* so behind…
BTW, Fabi and Amy I have been doing the same thing- sacrilegiously deleting samples. Also, if I can’t recall what it is about and the cover doesn’t woo me, delete.
If I were you all, I’d make a collection of all the ones you don’t want, and then delete them off the device. That way, it’s there if it becomes an unknown goody, but at the same time, you aren’t wasting any space on your device.
I admit, I have almost all my books removed from my device. I can download something if it looks good, but other than a few that I paid for or I’m really wanting to read it soon, it’s all off my device. Yep, this means, as soon as I’m done reading and rating a book, delete. 🙂 It’s just less clutter.
Oh Amy, also, only 59% into the book. I think it’s kind of slow at the moment but I have a feeling it’s because it’s a trilogy.
Finished Kiss Me Hard Before I Go. It was kind of slow, but in the end sweet. I think the slow was just building to book two and the issues it will have to deal with. Still cute. 😀
HI Carly….Just finished Rock Chick Reawakening…..OMG OMG…OMG…loved Marcus and Daisy’s story sooooooooooooooooo much…Happy tears…. now what to read next …
Hi Carly! Unfortunately, I’m one of those people who can’t seem to get into KA. 🙁 *ducks from flying peanuts*
Amy, I absolutely delete (not just remove from device, cause I’m crazy like that) stuff. It stresses me out having all kinds of “clutter”. But I do make sure it’s something I know I’ll never read first.
Kathleen Turner series is major awesome-sauce!! *tosses peanut at Carly* Highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys love triangle.
Big Girls Do it Running – *click* What’s funny is I’d never ever consider running in my life. It’s more like “Big girl does it while plopped on couch reading”
“We were on a break!” Aaaaahhh…Friends! LOVE. THAT. SHOW.
Fave episodes:
When Rachel saw prom video and kisses Ross
When Monica & Chandler get engaged
Leslie, I’m with you about KA. Just too long of a book-drags for me. Sorry Carly, but WELCOME!!!!
I’ve had Kathleen Turner on my tbr, just a long series to commit to.
Think I’m going to read the Marriage Games, now that that duo is complete.
Anyone know how many books are in the Katy Evans White House series? Is it complete with book 2 or a trilogy?
So, I started An Exaltation of Larks when I woke up at this am…I love our challenge of 2017 already!
I started my January challenge book, Amityville Horror when I woke up at 3am and it gave me the heebie jeebies! Oh no. What if it was 3:15am? *goosebumps*
Roopali have Manny, so happy that you enjoyed it! How perfect was it? *throws confetti*
Leslie I cannot handle love triangles, like at all!
Carly it was 5stars for me…still in dat lovey dovey fog…I am thinking of starting four letter words by J. Daniels…hmm…still thinking…but den da problem with me is after reading such a sweet story I need something dark to read…so may be I will go thru Maryse dark reads list…*too much confetti in my hair* ufffff. .
“a chubby alcoholic manatee” OMG *snort*
Actually ladies, the books I’m considering deleting aren’t samples and aren’t downloaded to my device. They are in my cloud, and it is just ridiculous how many I have. Like, stressful ridiculous. I’m a little more discerning than I used to be when clicking. Well, for the most part.
I think I’m going to run with bev’s idea and make a list in GR of the ones I’m going to permanently delete so you guys can check it out for any gems. If not, they’re gone. 😉
I just got my It Ends With Us play tickets!!! VIP sold out FAST. Bummer. But still, woop woop!!
Amy, I am going to be more into the delete button too.
I download everything but once read I delete from device. I mean to permanently delete some…..but I’m lazy. Just the ones I won’t re read. But I need to start sifting through a be honest with myself on what I will ever actually read.
No power all night again. Lots of broken branches. Snow almost to my knees.
*sigh*
It was amazing.
Who wants to move to the upper east coast with me? Maine anyone?
Maybe we should make the Florida road trip now to get y’all out of the snow. 😀
Bev, let’s trade. You can have the UK, I don’t mind, honestly!
I love snow and we don’t get much of it where I am 🙁 maybe a week a year, two at best.
Ah Roopali, you’re braver than I am. Just started Sparrow, unsure of what I’m supposed to feel right now!
I want more snow. Snow snow snow .
But ok. I’ll go to the UK.
I’m a bit of an anglophile. Just a little one.
I’ll move too. A week or two of snow is a week or two more than I get. The last time it snowed here was 1977.
I know. 2 or 3 weeks sounds like a lot to me too.
I love it.
I just noticed that Wolfsong is lendable.
Okay update!!!!
I’m almost done Hidden Bodies (almost 450 real book pages!!). That’s not as long as my usual these days, but I’m almost there. And it’s good, too!!!
Soon I shall backtrack on the comments. 😀
Carly, definitely stay away from Kathleen Turner series if you don’t like love triangles.
Cheryl, you got to be in mood for series before diving into Kathleen Turner. I too am wondering about Katy Evans White House series. If it’s only 2 books, I want to read asap.
No no no.
Maryse.
We want the snow.
We love the snow.
We want the snow to stay.
We want Maryse to read Wolfsong.
Can say that even though it is the year of zen cause it’s a Fabi book not a bev book.
Welcome Carly!!!! Yay for Sparrow!!!! Just want to throw another fav read of mine out there… Virtue and Vanity by Astrid Jane Ray….you all have to read this one….I mean seriously. Just did a reread…it has triggers and is not a ‘light’ book initially but it gets lighter. Just LOVED it!
So I really need to stop rereading favs and start my challenge…not sure how to start since this is my first go round…. but KA will be the first ‘new’ book for my 2017 challenge.
Also added We’re On A Break, His To Own, and Separation Games…wondering if the Fifty Shades Darker is the same or his point of view…
Speaking of snow….they say we might get flurries this weekend *snickering behind hand because this is the South folks*
*looks north* We need a Maine adventure to see the snow. If I want sunshine, all I have to do is wait for tomorrow. (Today it’s raining! Yeah!)
Darkest Mind is now on my why didn’t I read this earlier list. Thank you Fabi! I am loving every moment.
I’m so glad Tessa. I’ve just started Red Queen. I only get an hour or two of reading time during the week. So it’ll take me a few days to get through it. It started out great. Immediately got my attention.
I love the snow!! That’s actually the only time I like the cold. 😉
Noooooooooo…no Florida road trip yet. My a$$ isn’t Florida ready. Nuh-uh.
Some deals I wanted to pass along:
FREE
Betrayal by Aleatha Romig
One to Hold by Tia Louise
.99
Shattered Hearts complete series by Cassia Leo (SO good)
Frailty by Betsy Reavley
For the Love of English by A.M. Hargrove
Into a Million Pieces by Angela V. Cook
The House Where It Happened by Martina Devlin
1.99
Life Drawing by Robin Black (the cover makes my heart clench)
Bohemian Gospel by Dana Chamblee Carpenter
2.00
The Memory of Us by Camille Di Maio
Finished Darkest Mind and now I want to read the next book, Never Fade. GAH, I loved this book so much. Everything I was in a dystopian YA.
And thank you Amy. *grins*
I just made the Florida road trip Maryse… Now I’m back in the land of snow, so…uh no, but thanks!
FLT- The doorbell rang at three in the morning. “An Exaltation of Larks” by Suanne Laqueur.
FLT
“I hate First Friday.” Red Queen by Victoria Ave yard
I’m loving it. Of course, Tessa is done with hers and I’m only at 18% of mine. :-/
FLT: “Toolies was located on one of the few paved roads running through Durstrand. Breakfast—hot, deep fried, and homemade—could be ordered all day long.” In the Absence of Light (thank you Fabi
Woohoo MichelleS. I’m excited for you to read that. I think it’s taken permanent residence in a little corner of my heart.
FLT:
” Life was passing me by at high speed as I sat back with my feet up, rejecting change, ignoring the world, shrugging off anything that threatened to have meaning or relevance.”
Before we Were Strangers by Renee Carlino
Wow, I finished An Exaltation of Larks… I get it now.
RIIIIIIGHT Grey????
HOT!!!!!
FLT
“Years before Trip Wiley could be seen on movie screens all over the world, he could be seen sitting in the desk behind me in my high school English class.” ~ Remember When by T. Torrest
Holy freaking moly…15 degrees outside and we don’t even get any snow out of it. Brrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
I still have to choose tonight’s read. I finished Hidden Bodies and I REALLY liked/loved it. It’s a bit different from #1 (strangely less creepy even though… creepy). Baaahahahah!!!
And OMG I will SO be reading #3. ‘Cause for sure there’s gotta be a #3.
Maryse, do you have a short list you are considering or do you just go by mood?
My a$$ will never be ready for Florida.
I always go by mood, BUT I ALWAYS have a “short list” too. And no matter what my TBR list is, it just continues to change as new recommendations or new books keep coming, and my mood fluctuates constantly.
But my mood is my #1 decider. 😀 #2 decider is blurb of book (if the story appeals to me) and what will push it over the edge is a a true-from-the-heart recommendation.
I’ve read the first 2 of Remember When but not the 3rd. And now it’s been so long.
FLT I’m going with Ch. 1 and skipping the preface and prologue because this is the famous line. Well, two lines.
“George and Kathy Lutz moved into 112 Ocean Avenue on December 18. Twenty-eight days later, they fled in terror.” The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson
“I’m loving it. Of course, Tessa is done with hers and I’m only at 18% of mine. :-/” hahaha I did love mine though.
FLT:
‘The crook of my arm locked over the man’s throat, tightening as his boots’ rubber soles batted against the ground.’
Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken
oh! you went right on to the next one. awesome!
Anyone who hasn’t jumped on the Larks bandwagon it’s still half price!! Not sure how much longer though!
I’m so jealous Bev, I want snow like that! We used to get pretty good snows here, but the past couple years haven’t been much of anything. Last year we didn’t even get to use our new snow suits or boots. No sledding or snowmans OR school cancellations! 🙁 I still get ridiculously excited for those! Lol I’m in OH where the weather can’t make up it’s mind. A couple days ago it was 50 degrees and thunderstorms. Today we got just enough snow to cover the ground and it was 3 degrees last night.
FLT: “Welcome to the beautiful Sinclair family.” We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. I’m loving it so far. Several loans came in at once and I hadn’t been able to really get into anything after my last read (Kids of Appetite) until this one! I’m planning to tackle my Jan. challenge in the next week or so.
Tasha…I’m so excited you’re reading that one!!! 😀
Tasha, like I said this is very very rare. Very.
But I love it….really it’s made me so happy, lol. Done now though. So melting and freezing now. Not as fond of the ice.
I’m completely absorbed Amy! I’m not quite halfway but it reads fast so I should be done by tomorrow. It’s driving me crazy not knowing what this mysterious accident is!
And I’m with you on the ice Bev. No venturing out for me, driving in it gives me major anxiety! And when that melts, the slushy goop in all the parking lots I could do without. Lol
Maryse, I just read Sparrow by L.J. Shen and believe me, you are going to love this book!
It turned out to be so much more than I had expected. The heroine is the best thing about this book. She has a backbone and gives as good as she gets. And the hero is that jerk that you are going to hate to love.
And there is no insta love here, there connection formed over time. it was the perfect mix.;)
Leslie, didn’t you have a list of books you wanted to post to see if anyone wanted to br them?
Right now I’m totally in mood reading mode but always looking for potential ways too knock off books from my tbr.
2017 is my year of the tbr.
Bev, I haven’t actually compiled list yet but will be doing BR of Jack & Jill series this month, if you’d like to join in. I will also get to work on my list soon. 🙂
2017 is definitely year of the TBR. Woot! Woot!
Shut the front door.
I didn’t know The Summer Palace was “an epilogue of sorts”…..
So……um…..yeah, one click.
Maryse, I don’t know if it is your type of read or not, except the trilogy is so good and so smart. It’s like a wonderful puzzle.
I like puzzles. 🙂
I don’t think I have that series in my tbr.
I’m trying really hard, and failing, but really trying to not add too many books this year.
Hmm.
I feel like I am on here just talking with myself.
So.
Ok.
I’ll pretend I’m talking to Maryse.
Hey, Maryse.
How you been?
Oh, I believe you’ve been busy all those lists.
Yes, you do need a rest.
No no no. *shakes head* Not with Sherlock.
You know what you need?
Well…..yes. That too. But I was thinking about something else.
Hmm?
Yes, visiting Amy would be fun. But I was thinking of something that you could do now.
A book.
A book that is a perfect winters night read.
No…..not because someone dies. But I guess I could see why that would be …..wintery.
*scoots a bit farther away from Maryse*
It’s a book you want to cuddle up with. With Pim and Hobit and blankets.
Yes, that is a beautiful picture of Pim. She does have pretty eyes.
It’s a book that smells like candy canes, Maryse? Doesn’t that smell delicious and wonderful?
It’s an awesome book that Fabi discovered.
Yes, Fabi is an awesome name.
The name of the book?
No no no not Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda.
Wolfsong.
LOL bev!!!! You crack me up!!!! I’m back in. Who’s buddy reading Wolfsong with me?
lol That alone should be convincing. You all got me convinced and I don’t do M/M normally.
Ya’ll do remember that Maryse tried Wolfsong waaaaay back before most of you read it right? She got to about 20%. Joe was being a blabbermouth and talking too much.
Recently she said she may give it another go since so many people have been enjoying it. We’ll see.
There are way too many books waiting to be read for any of us to stick with one that’s not working for us. 😉
Okay here I am!!! I’m going back into Wolfsong. And don’t forget I one clicked The Last Hour of Gaan… and Wayward Pines, but now I’m watching the actual show of it, so I don’t know if I should read it or not.
Lol.
If you want to try it, I can loan it.
Especially if it is a genre that might not work for you.
Gaan is awesome and epic. Especially epic in length. And dark dark dark.
I am pretty sure you’d like it.
I’ve never heard of The Pines one…..so obviously my vote is if Wolfsong doesn’t work out for you try Gaan. 😉
Nope, I didn’t remember.
I knew Maryse had one clicked but not that she’d gotten that far along.
Agree with Fabi, do not want to push a book if it doesn’t work for you. 🙂
I’m also an emotional reader. I think many of us are. I wonder if that’s peculiar to romance readers or if it holds across the genres?
Silver Bay by Jojo Moyes is 1.99, normally 9.99…not ALL of her books can be heart shredders, right? 😉
I’m trying to decide if I want to start rating my reads or not.
I’m just not sure, I find it difficult. That could make for an interesting challenge though.
Yet, it is not how I choose my favorite reads.
It would be nice for the rest of us if you’d rate your reads. Even if you don’t review them. It doesn’t have to be how you choose your books. Just add a star rating based on how you feel when you finish reading one.
FLT:
“The morning my life changed was no different than any other.”
Marriage Games (The Games Duet Book 1) by CD Reiss. I’m liking it but I’m so confused about whether they should stay together, whether they’re “right” for each other and whether someone else is more suitable for him. The author keeps you guessing with what’s going on and I have no idea how this will end only that there is a book 2. Told in 2 parts- his POV and hers.
I still need to catch up on posts and comments. 🙁
Poor Cheryl.
Yes, read the favorites lists cause they are fun.
I don’t know that much has happened.
Carly from the UK kidnapped Manny.
We all read Wolfsong on Fabi ‘ s rec. *kick myself not sooner*
We are all holding our breath as Maryse tries it…..again.
*whispers* she’d previously tried it but put it down.
Grey, went to Hogwarts.
Amy, is doing squats so she can visit Maryse in Florida.
Jean fell in love with her boss.
And some are already starting their January tbr challenge….or finished them.
Thanks for getting me up to speed Bev, but I have a feeling that’s the tongue-in-cheek version. Jean, her boss, really??? Oh yeh, thanks for reminding me that I need to still check out the tbr challenge. I did put down my January book, but didn’t get any farther.
Yes, lol. Completely tongue in cheek.
