in Latest Book Releases

Today’s latest new release “parade of books” is READY!!! :D

Which are my most exciting finds today so far? Easily… Truth or Beard (Penny Reid’s latest TWIN brothers – she’s hilarious so I know this will be fun!), Chaos (he broke her heart when they were teens, and now she just joined his famous band – yet he doesn’t remember her…) and OMG CHARLOTTE STEIN’S Never Loved: A Dark Obsession Novel (<—she’s been sheltered, abused and she meets a bad-ass street fighter!!!) THAT is my next read. I LOVE this author, she can write the HECK out of sheltered abused girls and the bad boys that they meet). Pretty much, if it goes as well as her book “Sheltered” this one will be my book-dream come true!!! Oh and Finding Master Right (she just wants a simple D/s relationship and he wants a slave…) and The Lessons (she hires him to get rid of her virginity… blurb says forbidden love!!). :D *waggles eyebrows*

I highlighted a bunch more, below…

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

Thanks for the list. It looks like there are some interesting books coming out soon!

Katherine July 21, 2015 at 11:04 AM

Devouring Raine (69 Bottles #5 [Zoey Derrick]) just released today. I really like this rock star series – especially how the previous couples still overlap into the current story. Also can’t wait for #6 & #7 later this year!

Ela July 21, 2015 at 11:24 AM

Ruin & Rule (Pure Corruption) by Pepper Winters has already released. What sucks is that it’s a cliffy and the sequel is not out until January 2016.

Anne July 21, 2015 at 11:48 AM

Excited about Never Loved ( haven’t read anything by this author) and Truth or Beard (love Penny Reid!)

Since I am on vacation I’ve been devouring book after book lol I finished Loving the White Liar by Kate Stewart and really liked it! It deals with some mental issues in a realistic relatable way and I loved that their relationship wasn’t perfect. They had to fight to make it work but in the end love wins :) A 4 star read for me.

Amy July 21, 2015 at 12:24 PM

Anne, I one-clicked that yesterday ’cause it sounded pretty interesting (and ADHD runs in my family…from BOTH sides!), and I was hoping it would be as good as the blurb sounded…then I noticed that it was by the author of one of my faves, Room 212!!!!!!! :D If you liked LTWL then you would probably like 212 as well.

I might have mentioned Room 212 a time or two here, right Maryse? ;)

Janet Jones July 21, 2015 at 12:53 PM

LOVED Room 212!!!! Just one clicked White Liar

gina July 21, 2015 at 1:36 PM

Just finished Below the Belt by Sidney halston! My favorite of the series by far. Soooo good. He has the hottest accent! Ahhh

Jean July 21, 2015 at 3:06 PM

I tried to avoid this list as long as possible, but damn I have no willpower!

Sooo excited about Never Loved! Charlotte Stein rocked my worked with Sheltered! Immediate 1-click!

I also got the Husband’s Secret because I’ve been wanting that for a long time and this is the lowest price I’ve seen for it.

Finally, Take the Fall…..he went to jail and now he’s a marine. Hello!!! And Essential Beginnings is also calling my name!

Now I just need to finish Kulti…..which by the way is AWESOME!!!!!

Anne July 21, 2015 at 3:20 PM

Amy you are going to love LTWL. I have to say I didn’t know much about ADHD but now I have a whole new respect towards people that suffer from it and their partners. Its a very unique story that touched my heart. I need to check Room 212 out!

Anne July 21, 2015 at 3:31 PM

Oh The Lessons sounds like a fun read! :D I’ve never read a book with a sexual surrogate! I didn’t even know that existed but its actually pretty common. I looked it up on Google and this is what came up:

“A sexual surrogate helps patients to fix sexual problems by serving as a stand-in partner with whom to share physical and emotional intimacy. The therapy may or may not include sexual intercourse. Surrogates are frequently certified in fields such as counseling, psychology or sexuality and they often work in conjunction with psychologists and other therapists to help the patient.”

Its actually pretty interesting. I can’t wait to read this book!

MichelleS July 21, 2015 at 3:42 PM

I just got an email from my library that my ebook that I’ve had on hold FOREVER is finally available. It’s The Martian. It was Fabi’s recommendation, and I since recommended it to several people, even though I hadn’t even read it (I trust Fabi, what can I say). Anyway, they loved it – so I guess that’s my next read. Not sure if that’s the kind of mood I’m in….

Fabi July 21, 2015 at 4:07 PM

omg, omg, omg, MichelleS, you’re going to read The Martian??? squeeeee

….hmmm, although now that I think about it, it seems like it would be more along the lines of Michelle’s reading tastes since she explores a lot like I do. Just so you know, The Martian is a spectacular book, however, it has no romance (absolutely none). Not even a hint of it. It is straight up sci fi.

Gah!!! I want you to read it so bad because it is so good but I don’t want you to read something that you won’t get into because it lacks the romance aspect we all adore. <=== yup, that was a run on sentence, just the way I spoke it. :-)

Maryse July 21, 2015 at 4:55 PM

Oh Amy and Anne I didn’t realize it was form Room 212′s author. GREAT book. I gotta read that new one then. Thanks Anne!!!!

Maryse July 21, 2015 at 4:57 PM

Thanks for looking that up Anne, Then THAT would be the reason for the whole “forbidden” side of it. Because they’re trained therapists. Ahhhhhhhh OMG I WANNA READ THAT NOW too!

Okay… buckle down Maryse. Starting Charlotte’s first…

Maryse July 21, 2015 at 4:57 PM

Okay now I gotta look up The Martian…

Darn youse guys!!!!! :P

Maryse July 21, 2015 at 4:58 PM

No worries about run-ons. I think it’ acceptable to us bookies, ’cause we get so excited that it would come out like that in real life.

plus… I said youse guys. I have no room to talk.

Maryse July 21, 2015 at 4:59 PM

Thank you Katherine! I added it.

Thank you Ela! I removed it. LOL!!!!

Anne July 21, 2015 at 5:13 PM

Maryse you’re welcome! Yes its forbidden cause he’s her therapist! I am so excited about this book! :D

I am reading Game of Love by Aria Grigorian and so far so good. She is a professional tennis player and he is a genius with a photographic memory that works for a consulting company.

After this one I am reading The Lessons for sure!

Anne July 21, 2015 at 5:14 PM

Oh and its Ara Grigorian not Aria.

Ela July 21, 2015 at 5:17 PM

Abuse by Nikki Sex also revolves around a sex therapist!!!! 2 books are out but series is not complete, loved the first 2 but cliffys, though not that bad

Anne July 21, 2015 at 5:34 PM

Thank you Ela! I’ll check them out :)

Has anyone heard about Vanguard by CJ Markusfeld? Its supposed to have a similar feel to The Bronze Horseman only that Vanguard is a contemporary romance. It just came out yesterday I believe. I am intrigued since The Bronze Horseman is one of my favorite books of all time.

Maryse July 21, 2015 at 6:02 PM

contemporary Bronze Horseman feel???!!!!

Fabi July 21, 2015 at 6:14 PM

Maryse, “youse guys”? Us southerners have to teach you “y’all”. It’s so much easier.

*hehe* I remember living in Florida and laughing at people who used “y’all” in their speech. Now, I couldn’t live without it.

Anne July 21, 2015 at 6:22 PM

Maryse I know!!! Its supposed to be this epic romance! I can’t wait to read it!

MichelleS July 21, 2015 at 6:54 PM

One of my absolute favorite books this year has been Station Eleven – and it didn’t have any romance – so I am hoping for that same kind of feeling from The Martian. I have had that thing on hold for so long – it’s super popular at my library! It has 141 thousand ratings on Goodreads. Wowza. Every now and then it feels good to read a work of popular fiction on bestseller list.

Please someone read Vanguard and report back. Bronze Horseman feel? Yes yes yes! I loved that whole trilogy.

Grey July 21, 2015 at 7:17 PM

Yesterday I read, “The Voyeur Next Door” and “I See You.”

Whoa buddy. TVND, super cute, really liked it. Voyeurs… humina. Plus, there was some real laugh out loud moments, I love me some humor with my smut!

I See You. Psych-thriller, complete mindf*ck. Scared the crap out of me. Some definite triggers, not for the faint of heart.

I’m trying to refrain from getting too invested in today’s releases because I’ve gotten a lot of peanuts thrown at me for Golden Dynasty…

fabi July 21, 2015 at 7:24 PM

MichelleS I absolutely loved it. It’s in my top 5 reads for the year. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it. If nothing else, its a page turner. Just when you think things are ok, bahm, something else happens. Nonstop. I don’t think I ever put it down.

MichelleS July 21, 2015 at 7:50 PM

Grey – woo-hoo!!! *** clapping like crazy***you are going to LOVE IT – I just know it!!! After you’re comments about all the “bullies” how could you not???? He’s such a jerk face! Cannot wait to hear what you have to say about GD. I just went and watched some YouTube videos about Khal and Khaleesi from GOT, so I could get a little visual for Golden Dynasty and Lhan and Circe.

Anne July 21, 2015 at 9:13 PM

I am going to read Vanguard soon! I’ll report back as soon as I finish :D

Michelle July 21, 2015 at 9:38 PM

Here’s a few freebies for today:

Beauty from Pain by Georgia Cates
King’s by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Braving Fate by Linsey Hall
Redesigning Fate by AM Wilson
This Blood by Alisha Basso

Michelle July 21, 2015 at 9:50 PM

You will have to report back MichelleS since I’ve been watching The Martin for a sale. I love scifi and Fabi has never missed for me with recs so I know I will enjoy it. You need to read Red Rising too! It’s in my top 5…probably top 3 this year.

Back to Jezebel which I wanted to finish yesterday but had an emergency at work. I’m exhausted but still reading which says something.

Amy July 21, 2015 at 9:54 PM

“Okay… buckle down Maryse” <—– *snicker* Yeah, good luck with tha– Wait, shhhhh!!! *grabs Maryse's arm* Did you hear that? It sounds…

Book Dom!!!!! Someone is getting paddled!!! :P

Amy July 21, 2015 at 10:03 PM

Oh Grey, GD is amazing!!! I read it before I went back to read book 1 of that series (GD is book 2), and I think not knowing what in the hell was going on and why she was there just added to the magic of the story. And I could easily picture Jason Mamoa’s Khal as Lahn. ;)

I haven’t read the Martian, but I saw the preview for the movie when I went to see Jurassic World and WHOA! It looks good!!

Michelle July 21, 2015 at 10:03 PM

Aestas book blog loved Vanguard. Gave it 5⭐️ Here is a link to the review.

Michelle July 21, 2015 at 10:12 PM

Oh and Fabi I was just thinking about scifi now and you would like The Last Hour of Gann. It’s a long one but was worth it and very unique. Had a romantic aspect too.

fabi July 21, 2015 at 10:19 PM

Michelle TLHoG has been in my tbr top ten foreeeever. Gotta read it soon!!! Thanks for the reminder.

Tessa July 21, 2015 at 10:47 PM

Fabi, can I say that reading the Warded Man series is kind of like reading an mmorpg. You have your warrior, your bard and your healer. It just makes it better imagining it in an Oh, and past Jardir, woot! It’s awesome again!

Tessa July 21, 2015 at 10:48 PM

It just makes it better imagining it in a game I’m playing* Stupid submit button. lol

Cheryl July 21, 2015 at 10:57 PM

So many on this list caught my attention. Of course book Playing With Trouble- since I just read book #1; A Taste of Summer and Never Loved- what great covers!! ;) The Player Next Door; Chaos- although I still need to read Riot. The Lessons sounds fun!!

fabi July 21, 2015 at 11:06 PM

ok Tessa, I know I’m sometimes slow on the uptake. But really? What in the world is an mmorpg?

Jardir, oh Jardir…love, hate, love, hate, ugh

Tessa July 21, 2015 at 11:11 PM

Rofl. Sorry. It’s a gaming term. Massive Multiplayer Online Role-play Game. Like World of Warcraft, Guildwars, Everquest, etc. In most, you have the warrior, a bard who controls through song, and a healer who can also do harm with potions. Yep, it’s an MMORPG! :)

Tessa July 21, 2015 at 11:13 PM

Jardir might have been better if I didn’t sit there and read his life history before I could get to the characters I loved. lol A little bit as I’m reading, I’m okay with. A full summary… GAH

Tessa July 21, 2015 at 11:15 PM

Oh, but what he did made the story take an interesting twist. I’m loving it.

fabi July 21, 2015 at 11:15 PM

Holy cow. I play a couple of them but have always referred to them as RPG or simply online/virtual worlds. Just goes to show, even an old dog can learn new things. MMORPG…sheesh that’s a mouthful. :-)

fabi July 21, 2015 at 11:17 PM

That was the worst part of the whole series. It gets better and better from now on.

Tessa July 21, 2015 at 11:22 PM

I believe it. I loved Warded Man so much, and am back with the trio and loving it again.

RPG is easier to say, if nothing else. Or, you know, game. lol

Anne July 22, 2015 at 12:19 AM

Finished Game of Love and liked it. Nothing new or spectacular but I did enjoy it.

Oh Aestas gave Vanguard 5 stars? Now I am more excited to read it! :D

Antonella July 22, 2015 at 5:23 AM

Love the bargains, one clicked Bad Things (haven’t done M/M before) and The Virgin Duet.

Currently reading a series – Takeover and Controlling Interests by Lana Grayson, both bargain price at 99 cents – which is a step brother romance, with 3 step-brothers!…a little dark with the father wanting in on the action too…yes the premise is a little far fetched…but finding it quite hot in parts.

Michelle July 22, 2015 at 6:06 AM

You say there is no possible way I can predict the twist in Jezebel. I have some pretty solid outlandish theories going here though ;) I want to finish up but I have to go into work early…uggghhhh it’s killing me!

fabi July 22, 2015 at 7:20 AM

Antonella, Bad Things is pretty heavy duty for your first mm. Its dark. I loved it. *snort*

Michelle, I can’t wait to see if you’ll be the one to predict the twist. I’m just sitting on the sidelines with this one, eating popcorn while watching everyone’s reactions. ;-)

Ela July 22, 2015 at 8:59 AM

Now I’m curious about Vanguard too!!!! Although, *ducks from peanuts* I still haven’t read The Bronze Horseman…

Ela July 22, 2015 at 9:04 AM

I can’t imagine ANYONE guessing the twist in Jezebel without cheating of course. My buddy reader guesses most of the plots we read correctly and even this one blew her…

MichelleS July 22, 2015 at 9:04 AM

King’s is free? I LOVED that trilogy. He was a jerk face, like Barrons and Ryder. It was sooooo original. Seriously. At first I kept thinking, what the heck IS he. I highly recommend that one.

Jean July 22, 2015 at 9:15 AM

Ela, I still haven’t read The Bronze Horseman either and I’ve had it downloaded for months now so don’t feel bad. I agree……can’t imagine anyone guessing the twist in Jezebel!

Ela July 22, 2015 at 9:28 AM

Thanks Jean! I even started it but *squirrel* something new and shiny came out….

I finally finished the novella to Jezebel and was kinda disappointed it didn’t answer all my questions, I almost wish it didn’t exist.

Jean July 22, 2015 at 9:47 AM

Really Ela? I loved the novella and really felt like I needed it. I especially liked who’s POV it was written in!

Ela July 22, 2015 at 9:51 AM

No, don’t get me wrong I loved it and who’s POV it was BUT i still have questions grrrrrrrrrrrrr….is all.

Jean July 22, 2015 at 10:03 AM

Lol Ela! I really want Maryse to make up a list of more books like Jezebel! I just love when I think I have things figured out, but then I don’t….haha!

Ela July 22, 2015 at 10:16 AM

YES!!!!!!!!!!! Have you read Empathy by Ker Dukey? or any of her books? or her co-author series with Sidebottom? Empathy totally blew me away…it’s quite DARK

Amy July 22, 2015 at 10:54 AM

Michelle, Michelle, Michelle…just you wait. It seems like most people say the same thing about Jezebel – they were right in what they predicted until…well, you’ll see!

Amy July 22, 2015 at 10:55 AM

Jean and Ela, at least y’all had the novella right away! I read Jezebel when it was first released and then had to wait for the novella. I was feeling the same way about not having ALL of my questions answered, but this line from the novella kept coming back to me… “Learning to live is learning to let go. Unanswered questions are a part of life.”

I can honestly say after reading the novella I’m content with what I now know and even with what I don’t. ;)

Michelle July 22, 2015 at 10:59 AM

*gasps* *sputters* WTH! Ooohh my head and heart hurt after THAT ending! I mean…that was…it was…I dunno WHAT it was but I feel knocked senseless!

Cheryl July 22, 2015 at 11:03 AM

Ela, I haven’t read GD or The Bronze Horseman either, but I am curious about Vanguard.

I liked the novella to Jezebel because it answered most of my questions. I agree it would have been nice if it continued for one more day and maybe covered a news broadcast or two. I will say I think maybe for me it was good that not all my questions were answered so that in my mind I could think something ended a way that I liked. ;)

Cheryl July 22, 2015 at 11:03 AM

Michelle, the twist is so unpredictable; the story line is more predictable.

fabi July 22, 2015 at 11:05 AM

Ooohhh man, even Michelle is freaking out. That does it, I’m storing Jezebel behind a “danger radioactive” sign. I can’t…ever…nope…never.

Cheryl July 22, 2015 at 11:06 AM

MIchelle, you must have commented, while I was posting my last comment.

Yep, that’s the response we were waiting on!!!! *winks at Amy, Jean, Fabi and Maryse*

Michelle July 22, 2015 at 11:10 AM

Yes Amy! I predicted the players and identities, the pieces if you will, but NOT the game board! I can’t remember reading a book where my empathy became so twisted and soured…I’m breathless just thinking about the intricacies of the entire plot in retrospect…I will NEVER forget this one!

Cheryl July 22, 2015 at 11:11 AM

Fabi, you can do it!! It’s not at the horrific, disturbing level of The Tied Man and you read that right? It’s a unpredictable twist, but with a well-written love story. :) *”borrows” Amy’s manatee and hands it to Fabi*

Jean July 22, 2015 at 11:32 AM

Ugh Amy, I would have died if I didn’t have the novella to move onto right away! I love Michelle’s reaction! Fabi, just read it….. nothing to be scared of, seriously.

Grey July 22, 2015 at 11:35 AM

Awww Jezebel…the good old days, last week haha!

Ker Dukey, I think it was Ela that asked if anyone had read her books. I just read I See You the other night… it was crazy scary dark, hate to say I loved it, because it was a mindf*ck and a half, but yeah…I will definitely read her other stuff!

I have KA’s fantasyland set ready to go… buttttt! I see there is a book 5 that isn’t released yet, and that makes me want to ignore, ignore, ignore until it’s complete. I have so many cliffies stuck in my head right now, I may go over the edge!

Anne July 22, 2015 at 11:48 AM

Michelle wasn’t that ending fabulous! It shocked the hell out of me lol I didn’t see it coming. Fabi you need to read it!

Jean, Ela and Cheryl you need to read The Bronze Horseman! You need to be in the mood though because its a tough story, a beautiful one but gut-wretching. The love story is epic and unforgettable. Such an amazing, inspiring book!

Ela July 22, 2015 at 11:49 AM

So not the twist you thought huh????? Yup that’s Jezebel! Amy! I didn’t have the novella right away either! I read the book like a month before the novella was published….other preciousssssssssssss kept me from reading it!

YES Grey! Ker is one twisted writer errr ummm I mean HER stories are twisted! I don’t think KA’s fantasyland is a series….

Cheryl, Vanguard BR! Right after I finish Sacrifice and of course Out of Time is coming out tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ela July 22, 2015 at 11:50 AM

I will Anne, one of these days when I don’t feel all hyped up about mind f&^kery books….

Amy July 22, 2015 at 12:36 PM

Fabi, trust us…Jezebel is nothing to be afraid of! It’s just a great story-within-a-story with a perfect WTF ending. Would it make you feel better if I told you it won’t mess you up like Rainfall did?

Grey…the Fantasyland books don’t have CH’s so you’re safe there. I liked all of them, but Lahn and Circe will ALWAYS be my favorite. If you don’t read any of the other books, at least read that one! :D

Amy July 22, 2015 at 12:38 PM

I still have to read Bronze Horseman as well, but something about Vanguard just made my tummy do a little dance. Oh, that’s right…it’s called a blurb jolt!!! :P

UnWholly is going to have to wait because Vanguard just took a flying leap to the very top of my list!

fabi July 22, 2015 at 1:14 PM

Yeah…people…not happening. Ever. I only do happy endings. Exclusively. But I’m loving watching your reactions. :-)

Ela July 22, 2015 at 1:21 PM

Fabi, it totally has a very happy ending!

Paula July 22, 2015 at 1:33 PM

Out of Time by Beth Flynn comes out tomorrow!! I have a book to beta though before I can start that :0(

Just need to finish Fear You which I am loving (Fear Me was brill too!)

Ela July 22, 2015 at 1:41 PM

Beth already hit publish about an hour or so ago… fingers crossed it comes out soon….

Paula July 22, 2015 at 1:44 PM

whoopee!!! I will be refreshing Amazon frequently as I have been rather good on the 1-click front this week

Michelle July 22, 2015 at 2:34 PM

Umm yeah I loved Jezebel but I just can. not. do the novella now. I need to digest and honestly I like some unanswered questions…a tidy perfectly wrapped up ending would have taken away from the book.

I did go look at how long Lying in Wait was and noticed The Summer Remains has a novella out, Jean – I know you loved that one!

Fabi, do not be scared, the ending was just shocking! It’s the best kind of psychological mystery/thriller/romance I’ve read since…You by Caroline Kepnes but with a heavier lean towards romance and mystery.

Jean July 22, 2015 at 2:51 PM

Ooooo a novella to The Summer Remains!!! Thank you so much Michelle! Gotta go look it up!

(You have to read the novella to Jezebel when you are up to it…..sooooo worth it!)

Ela July 22, 2015 at 5:44 PM
Anne July 22, 2015 at 5:56 PM

Out of Time is out! Yaay!! I’ve been waiting for this book for so long!! *happy dance*

Anne July 22, 2015 at 6:10 PM

I finished The Nature of Cruelty by L.H. Cosway and I have to say it was just ok. I love her Hearts series so much but this book just didn’t do it for me. It was a 3/5.

Who wants to BR Vanguard? Let me know so I can join! I am starting The Lessons now and then Out of Time so I am free to start Vanguard on Friday :D

Shawna July 22, 2015 at 6:17 PM

I just one flicked Out of Time…I am so excited!!!! Team Grizz all the way!

Anne July 22, 2015 at 6:20 PM

Shawna I am so excited too!! I don’t know what team I’m in but I know Grizz is much more than meets the eye and can’t wait to learn his secrets!

Shawna July 22, 2015 at 6:38 PM

Anne, I loved Grunt too, but there is just something about Grizz that makes me weak. Maybe it’s his love for Jenny. Grizz reminds me of Deuce from the Undeniable series which is my absolute all time favorite. I can’t wait to dive in! Have fun! I know Maryse would love him!

Ela July 22, 2015 at 6:39 PM

I’m conflicted with what team I’m on! I really need to know their EXACT ages

Ela July 22, 2015 at 6:40 PM

I need to finish Sacrifice then Out of Time and can join Vanguard BR

Shawna July 22, 2015 at 6:47 PM

I’m finishing Pure Abandon and then onto Out of Time…Squee! But sounds like I need to check out Vanguard too.

Grey July 22, 2015 at 7:37 PM

Wait what…are we buddy reading something??? What is Vanguard? Should I wait and dig into this before I go for the KA books?

MichelleS July 22, 2015 at 8:34 PM

Every calm down and back off! Grey was this close to starting Golden Dynasty and now there’s a buddy read bring dangled in front of her? Oh no no no. Grey, GD is a sure fire 5 star. Seriously. And I read it before the others in that series. They are stand alone books in the same “world”… No need to fret about CH or ongoing series… Just take a breath & go download GD… Nice & slow… :-)

MichelleS July 22, 2015 at 8:43 PM

Does anyone know what Maryse is reading?? You think it’s King, Amy??? LOL

Anne July 22, 2015 at 9:12 PM

Lol! I haven’t read Golden Dynasty either! I’ll try to dive into it nice and slow soon :P

I think Maryse is reading Never Loved but not sure…

We need to BR Vanguard! I have a great feeling about this book! Maybe we can start Friday or Saturday? Sunday is my birthday so I’ll be out partying or something lol

BTW having tons of fun with The Lessons! Its funny and sexy.

Anne July 22, 2015 at 9:15 PM

Just read the blurb for The Golden Dynasty and I think that book is going to bring me back to PNR. I haven’t read a PNR in so long! Like 2 or 3 years! Buying it now!

Anne July 22, 2015 at 9:19 PM

Michelle S the Fantasyland series consists of 5 books. Golden Dynasty is the second one. Do I need to read the first one before?

MichelleS July 22, 2015 at 9:33 PM

No Anne, you don’t. Each book is s different couple’s story, some crossover… But barely any in this story. Start here… It’s the best in that series.

Amy July 22, 2015 at 9:48 PM

*crosses arms and glares at MichelleS* Are ya trying to get me riled up again? Are we gonna have another go-round over that book? Don’t make me take my earrings off…

Anne, I probably said it before (too lazy to scroll up and look) but I read GD first then books 1, 3 and 4. I’m actually glad I read GD first ’cause I had *no* idea what was going on which made it more fun. Book 4 brings all of the couples together so you would get more out of it having read the others first, but I would say 1, 2 and 3 could be read in any order. Although I am a bit biased when it comes to GD. ;)

Anne July 22, 2015 at 9:49 PM

Thank you! I’ll read it soon! Excited about it :D

Amy July 22, 2015 at 9:52 PM

*raises hand* I’m starting Vanguard after What If (which is kinda dragging for me right now :? ), so maybe Friday?

Grey July 22, 2015 at 9:59 PM

*giggle* I do have Golden Dynasty live on my kindle… I don’t know how to post pics here or else I’d prove it. A buddy read just sounds like so much fun! *smirk, winking and nodding at the Peanut Gallery without little MichelleS see*

No? ok, fine, but I do have to read book 1 first, because I’m uber OCD like that and going out of order… would probably cause the world to tilt off it’s axis or something.

Let’s see how fast I can crank through these FantasyLand books… *tosses peanuts up into the air-mic drop, I’m out*

MichelleS July 22, 2015 at 10:11 PM

Oh man!!!! Book two is a 5 star re-read… You gotta read it first. Seriously. Order doesn’t matter here!!!! Whining cause I want you to LOVE it like the rest of us do!!!

I’m in for buddy read Friday if I can get The Martian finished by then… I’ve got this wee little Shoulder surgery happening tomorrow that may interfere! (Torn rotator cuff… Gonna be out of commission for about a month… Maybe I’ll get tons of reading in.)

MichelleMarie July 22, 2015 at 10:26 PM

I’d like to buddy read Vanguard too- since there seem to be several Michelles here I’ll start calling myself MichelleMarie

Cheryl July 22, 2015 at 10:35 PM

Ela, whaaat??!! “Fabi, it totally has a very happy ending”

Cheryl July 22, 2015 at 10:37 PM

I think I’m in for a buddy read of Vanguard. Just have to finish Revived.

MichelleMarie July 22, 2015 at 10:39 PM

The first four books in the Mythean Arcana series are available as a Paranormal Romance Box Set Kindle Edition
by Linsey Hall (Author) for only $0.99 – each book is usually 2.99-3.99 so that’s a pretty good deal

bev July 22, 2015 at 10:58 PM

MichelleS sending good thoughts your way. Rest up & read.

fabi July 22, 2015 at 11:16 PM

MichelleS wishing you an easy surgery, quick recovery and loads of 5* reads. :-)

Anne July 23, 2015 at 2:10 AM

MichelleS sending you lots of hugs! Wishing you a speedy recovery :)

So Amy and Cheryl should we start Vanguard on Friday then?

I just finished The Lessons and loved it! Natalie was so funny and relatable and Ryan was sexy and sweet. A great read! 4.5/5

MichelleS July 23, 2015 at 6:42 AM

I’m in wit Vanguard if all goes well today. Thanks for your well wishes. The surgery looks easy – the recovery looks painful…

BTW, Fabi – I am loving The Martian. Am only just past the halfway mark because of pre-op business. I am laughing more than I thought I would because the guy is so funny. And all the geeky stats are fantastic.

fabi July 23, 2015 at 7:14 AM

So glad you’re liking The Martian. Those are two things I really liked about too.

Jean July 23, 2015 at 8:28 AM

Good luck today MichelleS! You’ll have to keep us updated on all the books you read!

I’m up for the BR of Vanguard! (Damn. And I was going to read SGT next… I can’t……Hahahaha!)

Grey July 23, 2015 at 8:37 AM

Good luck today MichelleS, I started the KA fantasyland books last night. Enjoying Wildest Dreams, so much so that I stayed up til 330 ready…

Maryse July 23, 2015 at 8:46 AM

Big hug and a *snuggle* to MichelleS. <3 :D

Maryse July 23, 2015 at 8:47 AM

Yay thank you Anne. The Lessons looks so good!! :D

Cheryl July 23, 2015 at 9:37 AM

MichelleS sending good thoughts for surgery and speedy rehab for you. ;)

Cheryl July 23, 2015 at 9:38 AM

Anne, Amy & Jean- think can start Vanguard friday. Not sure how much reading I’ll get done over weekend- friends visiting…

Jean July 23, 2015 at 9:46 AM

I have a busy weekend too Cheryl, but gonna try to read as much as possible! I love when we do a BR!

Ela July 23, 2015 at 9:47 AM

Good Luck MichelleS

Cheryl July 23, 2015 at 9:56 AM

Me too Jean, even more so when it pushes me to read a book I may not have looked twice at. :)

Ela July 23, 2015 at 10:25 AM

This isn’t book related but I had to share!!!!!! For all the Charlie Hunnam lovers:

MichelleS July 23, 2015 at 10:35 AM

Ela: swoon… Charlie H as King Arthur? Love it.I’ve always loved the Arthurian legends & that whole “world”.

Jean July 23, 2015 at 10:47 AM

Ela, love him! This was definitely a better role for him than Christian Grey! Thanks for that!

Ela July 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM

It totally suits him!!!!! I agree, it’s just that I don’t particularly care for Dornan in that role. I know people loved him including my SIL’s but for me he appeared constipated…

Jean July 23, 2015 at 11:05 AM

Ela, I haven’t even watched FSOG yet because I was so disappointed in the casting!

Anne July 23, 2015 at 11:09 AM

He is so hot!! Love him as King Arthur!

So I started Golden Dynasty last night and loving it! I was going to read Out of Time but read the author’s note at the beginning and it said it ends with a CH and that the next book will be published in 2016. Just want to know how bad the CH is before I dive in.

Ela July 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM

LOL Jean!!!! I don’t blame you, although Johnson was decent to my surprise. I couldn’t stomach who they chose for his brother and sister…I was like really? Ewwwwwwwwwww………yet it still broke records!

Anne July 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM

Jean you aren’t missing anything. I didn’t like the movie at all!

Ela July 23, 2015 at 11:13 AM

Anne, I read the cliffy isn’t that bad and that most/all questions get answered from Nine Minutes. I was very disappointed Beth decided to write a trilogy especially because on GR SHE posted an answer that there will be only 2 books and possibly spin offs.

Ela July 23, 2015 at 11:19 AM

Yup! Answer was deleted…of course it was!

Anne July 23, 2015 at 1:11 PM

Ela that’s why I was shocked to learn of a third book! I hope its not a big CH cause I hate those! Let me know what you think when you finish :)

Tessa July 23, 2015 at 2:06 PM

It’s Thursday. I’ve been quiet due to reading.

It was the night before the new moon, during the darkest hours when even that bare sliver had set.
-The Desert Spear by Peter V. Brett

Honestly, past the “history” portion, it’s really good. I’ve only got about 75 more pages to go.

Cheryl July 23, 2015 at 2:10 PM

Charlie H, now that’s a movie I’ll go see.

Speaking of movies, saw this trailer last night at movies. Now Henry Cavill would have been great as Christina Grey… there are 2 trailers.

Jean July 23, 2015 at 2:15 PM

That trailer is great Cheryl! I loved him (and his body) in The Man of Steel! Lol

Jean July 23, 2015 at 2:46 PM

First line Thursday:

I leave ma’am on her bed, naked and fully satisfied as I zip up my pants and throw my shirt over my head. “Your payment’s on the dresser”, she said.

(I know, 2 lines, but felt the need to add it!) Boy Toy Chronicles #1 by Jay McLean

Ela July 23, 2015 at 3:19 PM

Will do Anne! *sigh* Henry…

Amy July 23, 2015 at 3:20 PM

MichelleS! If your RC tear is serious enough to warrant surgery then it is no “wee little” thing. :? Sending lots of well wishes your way! *gentle hugs* Luffs ya friend.

“And I was going to read SGT next… I can’t” <—– WHAT?!? Why? WHY would you say that?? *tackles Jean and shoves SGT peanut down her shirt* HA!!

Amy July 23, 2015 at 3:24 PM

First line Thursday!!!

“The dark-haired man lay on the frozen ground, surrounded by a dozen others.” ~ Vanguard by CJ Markusfeld…yep, I’m starting it! :D

Hey, did y’all see we have another Michelle up there? We now have a MichelleMarie!!

Jean July 23, 2015 at 3:36 PM

Haha Amy, I love messing with you! I obviously can’t start SGT because I’m doing the BR of Vanguard with you guys. I just figured I would read Boy Toy real quick before starting Vanguard tomorrow… started early! Cheater!

Amy July 23, 2015 at 3:51 PM

I’m starting VG early ’cause I finally finished What If…even if I did mostly skim the last one-third of it. *sigh*

Oh! Have y’all seen the newest Mockingjay Part 2 trailer?? Things are gonna get crazy! Except the sewer scenes…oh, that’s gonna hurt…

Paula July 23, 2015 at 3:54 PM

Beta read done so now it is Out of Tine for me – I am braving the CH!!

fabi July 23, 2015 at 3:54 PM

Ela, thanks for that update on the King Arthur movie. Like MichelleS, I’m a huge fan of that story and world.

fabi July 23, 2015 at 3:57 PM

The SoG movie was pretty bad anyways, but the casting absolutely destroyed it. :-(

fabi July 23, 2015 at 3:58 PM

No Thursday first line for me. Not reading anything. Too swamped with work. :-( ugh!

Anne July 23, 2015 at 4:03 PM

I am reading Golden Dynasty and really loving it! Lahn is so sexy!! Its a bug book but I hope to finish tomorrow so I can start Vanguard with you guys.

So this paragraph is from GD and I find it so sexy I had to share it as my “first line Thursday”

“You and me. Gold and paint. King and Queen. Tiger and Tigress. Your gold is on my body now. My paint will be on your body tonight, my Circe”

Amy July 23, 2015 at 5:41 PM

I love Lahn and Circe.

Tessa July 23, 2015 at 5:51 PM

Finished! Other than the beginning with the whole history thing, really good. The history -was- important, but boring.

fabi July 23, 2015 at 5:52 PM

Agree :-)

Tessa July 23, 2015 at 6:21 PM

*grins* Now for a break from fantasy. Too many epics or pnr in a row. I need a brainless book.

Tessa July 23, 2015 at 6:35 PM

For brainless, I started a book called Escorted and realized, as soon as I know the guy’s an escort, not sexy at all. *sighs and goes to find another brainless book*

Cheryl July 23, 2015 at 7:19 PM

First line thursday…same as Amy. Yes, Jean I’m cheating too but finished Revived and didn’t want to start another book.

Ok, so far it’s kinda slow, but that prologue. :(

bev July 23, 2015 at 7:39 PM

Maryse? Late to this and these are older so you have probably listened to them a thousand times. Especially one of them. ;-) Will post twice cause no idea how to link twice.
First PLEASE, if you haven’t, listen to Tv on the Radios Lover’s Day. So fun and verra verra steamy. On my phone and not able to find good link.
Second, this one. How can you not love a song that references Let it Be & Nevermind.

bev July 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM
Diane M July 23, 2015 at 7:59 PM

Good luck MichelleS! I’m a physical therapist, rotator cuff repairs are tough, don’t be afraid to take those pain meds before therapy!!!

Bev… i just started Attachments, continuing on my Rainbow Rowell roll, i can’t remember if you said if u read it

Charlie Hunnam… i’m finally watching Sons of Anarchy, so freaking good!

Cheryl July 23, 2015 at 8:27 PM

Ok now it’s getting so good. I hate the commandant!

bev July 23, 2015 at 8:31 PM

Diane, yes. Very different format but works well. I could not let go after E&P and so dove into this one.

Grey July 23, 2015 at 9:01 PM

Finished Wildest Dreams by KA… guess you all know what that means??

Any word on how MichelleS is doing? Sending good thoughts her way!

Michelle July 23, 2015 at 9:06 PM

I hope everything goes well MichelleS!

Hi new Michelle – at least we all spell it the ‘right’ way – no one L nonsense ;)

I wish I could go back in time and read Golden Dynasty for the first time. Anyone have a book like that? I’m looking for something amazing to read after Jezebel…something readable good like GD!

Michelle July 23, 2015 at 9:07 PM

bev July 23, 2015 at 9:54 PM

I hadn’t realized A Brush of Black Wings by Grace Draven was out. Happy claps for me.

Maryse July 23, 2015 at 10:34 PM

Ohhh thank you bev!!!!

Maryse July 23, 2015 at 10:36 PM

Okay so I finished the latest one from Charlotte Stein and while it did have it’s charm (he appeared super scary and resisted her at first but seemed so sweet) it didn’t capture me. It was soooooo much in her head, and I dunno… I’ll review it.

Mind you the steamy stuff…? OMG THAT was HOT!

Tessa July 23, 2015 at 10:53 PM

Okay. For a light, fun book I remembered the recommendation Whipped by Alex Lux. However, sorry. No can do with that first sentence.

Tessa July 23, 2015 at 10:56 PM

Bev, I take it you recommend Master of Crows then? I have it but haven’t gotten around to reading it.

Diane M July 24, 2015 at 8:48 AM

I’ve been dying to try Charlotte Stein ever since your post way back, maybe I’ll try a different one. I finally read Cara McKenna and loved After hours

Jean July 24, 2015 at 9:12 AM

Diane M, if you are going to try Charlotte Stein, I suggest you read Sheltered! Maryse and I both loved it, and I just saw that she was a little disappointed in Never Loved. Sheltered is short, but definitely meaningful (and hot)!

Diane M July 24, 2015 at 9:42 AM

Is that the one where he’s a pothead? I think that’s the book I wanted to try but I couldn’t remember which one it was. Thank you Jean!!

Jean July 24, 2015 at 9:52 AM

Ha I didn’t really think of him as a pothead, but yeah he smoked pot! It was really good and my first introduction to Charlotte Stein.

Diane M July 24, 2015 at 10:10 AM

I think someone wrote that lol! Awesome, thanks (:

Maryse July 24, 2015 at 10:43 AM

Yep he was def. a pot head. LOL!!!!

Maryse July 24, 2015 at 10:44 AM

Now I’m curious about that first sentence, Tessa. *snort* :P

Diane M July 24, 2015 at 10:59 AM

Nice! I love the potheads lol!! I’m curious too……

Tessa July 24, 2015 at 11:05 AM

Look at a sample! I’d have been blushing so hard typing all that!

I finished it! (Whipped by Alex Lux) Seriously sweet and parts were hilarious. I did have a disbelief moment of a dominatrix who has no trouble giving control to someone, but honestly, it probably made me like it more. lol I’m just not a fan of domme books.

Still, even if the steam had gone there, still liked it. Sweet and funny. :) Now I have a huge smile from it.

Diane M July 24, 2015 at 11:12 AM

Ba ha ha!!! Reminds me of a short video a friend produced with his wife where she was trying to return a used dildo, was hysterical!!

Tessa July 24, 2015 at 11:21 AM

See why I just thought, nope?

Amy July 24, 2015 at 11:33 AM

Y’all have to at least check out the sample of Whipped and see Tessa’s first line, LOL!!!!

But 18″?? *crosses legs* Yeah, I’m 5’1″ so…no. :?

Tessa July 24, 2015 at 11:36 AM

ROFL That did sound painful. I’m 5’4″ so same. Nope.

Fabi July 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM

Agree. NEVER happening. rotfl

Anne July 24, 2015 at 12:22 PM

Almost finished with The Golden Dynasty and its sooo good! Why did it took me so long to read this book? Its amazing! Lahn and Circe are one of my fave couples ever! Now I want similar books to this one. Any suggestions?

Diane M July 24, 2015 at 12:44 PM

I’m 5’6″ and once delivered an almost 9 lb baby and nope

Amy July 24, 2015 at 12:59 PM

Oh Diane…I just had some empathy pain from reading that. *cringes*

Jean July 24, 2015 at 1:03 PM

Of course I had to go check out Tessa’s first line and see what all your comments were about……uh, yeah, no! Lol!

Anyone else reading Vanguard? Liking it? I’m at 40% and don’t want to put it down…..

bev July 24, 2015 at 1:05 PM

Yay!! Diane. For awhile I thought I was completely surrounded by lilliputians. I’m 5’6 too.

Jean July 24, 2015 at 1:09 PM

I’m 5’6 too…all these little people around here *snort*

fabi July 24, 2015 at 1:09 PM

“lilliputians” …..hrrm…*crosses arms* I resemble that remark. (I’m 5’4″ ;-)

Diane M July 24, 2015 at 1:16 PM

It’s ok Amy, through the magic of an epidural I didn’t feel a thing

Yay Bev and Jean! I was thinking the same thing

Jean July 24, 2015 at 1:17 PM

Lol Fabi!

Grey July 24, 2015 at 1:37 PM

I’m 5-6 and a half… yep, I proudly claim that half inch, although I’m kinda confused on what we’re talking about *wink* Oh, a book you say?? I must investigate…

Michelle July 24, 2015 at 1:53 PM

I had to look at the first line too and whoa hell no! Haha that’s a doozy!

I’m almost done with Harper’s Blood Destiny series book 4 and um the series is losing it’s momentum. Such a cool idea for a series but I do not think it lives up to it. You read all these books right Tessa? What did you think? When I’m done with this book, I need something crazy good like finding my re-readable, unique, sexy book like Golden Dynasty! Help *scrolls up* Anne and I out!

Tessa July 24, 2015 at 2:04 PM
Tessa July 24, 2015 at 2:04 PM

Four is the slowest. I liked five far more.

Michelle July 24, 2015 at 2:10 PM

Thanks Tessa I saw it already and read Warprize which I liked a lot but that was the only one besides one other on that list I hadn’t read. I’m looking for a rec for just a fabulous book I haven’t read that doesn’t have to be like GD just REALLY good like that :D

Ok good 4 was slow for you too and the moment I’ve been waiting for was a quickie WTH haha…oh well I will read 5 eventually but I need a break.

Amy July 24, 2015 at 3:08 PM

Lilliputians???? Oh yeah, well…well…well…I can be (almost) as tall as y’all with my heels on, you brobdingnagians!!!!

*stalks-wobbles off in hooker heels*

*salutes everyone with one finger* All around, ladies!! All around!!!

Amy July 24, 2015 at 3:22 PM

Michelle and Anne, have you read Transcendence? Completely different storyline but oh, the FEELS!!!!

When I first heard about it and then Maryse went ga-ga over it, I was thinking “ummm, yeah okay…that sounds like it *might* be good.” But a caveman? Seriously? And an all-male POV? (I usually don’t care for those, by the way) Then I read it and OMG!!!!!!! It worked and it was perfect and I loved it and I didn’t want it to end!! :D

Jean July 24, 2015 at 3:26 PM

“Brobdingnagians”…….what the?!?! Oh my gosh, I am laughing so hard right now….”hooker heels”……blahahahaha

Tessa July 24, 2015 at 5:54 PM

*pats Amy on the head* It’s okay, short stuff. 5’4″ is apparently short to these people.

fabi July 24, 2015 at 6:00 PM

Since I’m so “short”, why do I like 6′ tall men? :-/

bev July 24, 2015 at 6:09 PM

Fabi, i was standing next to this guy once, so tall. I hit about mid chest, and his wife looked just above his elbow, lol. One time i was getting coffee and tturned and lady standing behind me I came up to her chin. I used to want to be really tall, long legs, you know. And she looked like a model, lol.

bev July 24, 2015 at 6:12 PM

Jean, cause we are the giants, lol. Now I’m imagining Amy as a blonde Snookie.

Maryse July 24, 2015 at 6:32 PM

I’m only 5′ :P

fabi July 24, 2015 at 6:49 PM

Lol, my best friend is 5’11.5″. She refuses to say she’s 6′ tall. Blonde, tall and leggy, yup, that’s her. But when we were younger it was always hell for her finding guys tall enough to wear heels with. Yup, she loves heels, while shorty me prefers boots or Converse. :-/

Grey July 24, 2015 at 7:20 PM

You *vertically challenged* girls are what I like to refer to as *fun sized* LOL!

I met James Scott (actor, used to play EJ DiMera on Days of Our Lives) he is 6ft 4in, plus the heel on his shoe, I came up to his shoulder, barely… yum! haha!

bev July 24, 2015 at 7:24 PM

Grey, I remember when he was on AMC, so handsome.

Tessa July 24, 2015 at 7:36 PM

My friend is the opposite. She’s 4’8″ and looked super young for her age. As in, when I met her, she was ten and I thought she was 4 type young. You gotta know how fun it was taking her to Pleasure Island, the 18 and over area in Disney World. They had to call the manager over to make sure her ID was valid. *grins*

Michelle July 24, 2015 at 7:52 PM

Yeah seriously 5’4” is short?! which is my height. I got the shorter genes since my Dad is 6’5” and my Mom is 5’1” but my sister is 5’10” – I’m so jealous that she is tall!

I read Transcendence Amy and LOVED it but that is a great rec for Anne that I second! I want to start something but I’m really stuck *continues digging through kindle*

Anne July 24, 2015 at 11:39 PM

I am 5’5 so I think I am average height? I like my size though! Lol

Amy and Michelle I’ve read Transcendence and loved it!! Its so unique and really liked the male POV. One of my faves for sure!

So I miss Lahn. I have to say I kinda fell in love with him *sigh*

Grey July 25, 2015 at 12:04 AM

Golden dynasty… You all were not wrong! I am 50% in… Love it!

OT, have we heard from MichelleS? I try!

MichelleS July 25, 2015 at 12:26 PM

Grey: I’m doing well, thanks for asking. Okay, it may be a bit more involved than I thought. Not fun. But have good pain medss. I’m also s shortie, BTW: 5’0″. Whatcha’ reading now, Geey?

Grey July 25, 2015 at 8:15 PM

Glad to hear you’re doing as well as can be expected. Still sending you good thoughts! Finishing up Golden Dynasty tonight, then not sure where I’m going. I was going to do the BR of Vanguard, but I believe it was Amy who said in another thread it wasn’t clicking with her…and after this week, I need something that’s gonna hook me right away. LOL!
