in Latest Book Releases

Happy new release day, my reading friends!!

I’m still working off of my latest TO BE READ list. I’m being a good “TBR-list girl. ;) In fact I just finished “Coming Home” (<— SO good – nice unique twist!) and I will be reviewing in the next day or so. Now I’m choosing my next. Of course, I’m thinking it’s high-time I get to my long-term “TBR” floater, Fighting Destiny (The Fae Chronicles Book 1) <— Sooooooo many are absolutely CRAZY for this series, and MichelleS is certainly convincing when she says:

“Oh. Em. Gee. Cannot believe The Fae Chronicles is sitting on your Kindle untouched. The horror!!! I know, I know… you’re worried it’s too paranormal and “fae” and you need to be in the mood for that…. I am here to tell you it is absolutely NOT… the over-the-top hot-hot chemistry and fantastic dialogue is what I loved about this series. Yes, it has the fantasy element, but who cares? How else could these characters be as wicked as they are? Great story. One fantastic hot-as-heck alpha male. Do it. Do it. Do it. Can’t wait to hear if you liked it as much as I did.”

“You need to escape from reality for just a day. Ryder will do that for you. Gah! he’s just so….. gah!! HAWT. Ok. he’s hawt as heck….

“…You know that book feeling you got when you were 15 and you read an adult romance novel and “those scenes”…. and you just felt it all over all day? Yup. That was Fae Chronicles for me. Except I’m three times that age!!”

LOL MichelleS!!!! I think you could write a book on how much you love this series. ;) Yep. I must read this… WOW. This sounds like EXACTLY what I love. And like I’ve said before, MichelleS is sort of a tough book-cookie, so I’m extra tempted since she loved this one so much.

But you know… there are some on here that make me a bit “squirrely”. eek *WAIT!! Don’t launch your Kindle at me, yet MichelleS* ;)

But, these sound really good! Like: Sound Advice (the hero sounds like a total grump, and so just one-clicked it, ’cause it’s on super-sale), Come (MMA fighter, and I like the premise presented in the blurb – it’s not so unique, sure, but if done right, can be lots of fun!), Forever Innocent (sounds like it wants to tear my heart out! Leaves her after the death of their baby, and comes back to her college, years later), A Perfect Life (*when* I’d read romance back in the day, I usually reached for Danielle Steele and this one sounds like it’ll give me those “feels” that I crave), Second Chances (OH YES! Definitely this one, it’s actually making me squirrel the most right now, ’cause so many love this author’s other books, and the fact that she’s a decade older than he is, plus she’s a single mom, has me excited!), Wife Number Seven (that title alone was enough to get me, but that blurb? YES PLEASE – another super-squirreler for me), Hard Roads (Biker/Dark read? For me!!) and a few more below… like usual, I left some notes. :)

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! :D )

BARGAINS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).

  • Sound Advice (Sensations Collection Book 1) by L.B. Dunbar <— Ooooh YAY!!! This one’s on my main TBR list. I totally one-clicked that puppy! :D Sorta sounds like it might have that KA feel, ’cause he’s so grumpy sounding. “Calling Jess Carter’s clenched jaw and denim-colored eyes part of his standoffish manner was an understatement. His brooding exterior bordered on being downright rude…
  • Impossible Series Box Set (Savior, Rogue, and Knight) by Julia Sykes <— the entire series bundled! “The sexy FBI agent wants to save my junkie kid brother from the violent Latin Kings and save me from my self-destructive behavior. He makes me want to be better than what I am.
  • Enticing Interlude (Tempest #2) by Michelle Mankin <— Stephanie found us this ROCK STAR book!
  • Ground Zero: A Zombie Apocalypse by Nicholas Ryan <— Eeeeep!! That book cover gave me a fright! I love frights! ;) Definitely not our usual for this list, but some of our fellow readers are loving this one. Debbie says: “Fast paced … intense …. incredible attention to detail ….” and Ginny loved it, too: “Just started “Die Trying” after devouring “Ground Zero”! Loving them!”
  • Die Trying: A Zombie Apocalypse by Nicholas Ryan <— and here is the second one, in case you’re in the mood for a different kind of *jolt*. Both are bargain priced. Jen says: “…my husband read them and LOVED them!”
  • Come (The Fight Club Book 1) by Becca Jameson <— Oh!! An MMA fighter book that was just recently released that I missed. Looks good, too! “… she has a stalker, one of the firm’s partners who hopes to entice her to gain promotion by sleeping with him. Backed into a corner, she grabs an unexpected opportunity. She wards off his unwanted advances by plastering herself against the sexy man leaning casually against the wall outside her uncle’s gym.” <— hehe. That would be one of the MMA guys… ;)
  • Ditching The Dream: Dream Series, Book 1 by Isabelle Peterson <— Married woman/love triangle (er… love square?) ALERT! I noticed this one last week and put it on our bargains list, and I’m bringing it back again, ’cause Kelly gave it a go and loved it: “Ditching the Dream by Isabelle Peterson was amazing. I loved it. Sexy…
  • Not In My Wildest Dreams: Dream Series, Book 2 by Isabelle Peterson <— and here is book #2 but don’t read the blurb yet!! Not until you read #1. :D
  • Forever Loved (The Forever Series Book 2) by Deanna Roy <— Stephanie found us this deal saying: Did you buy Forever Innocent when it was on sale in January??? Here’s your chance to get the heart-wrenching conclusion to Gavin and Corabelle’s passionate story on SALE!
  • Forever Innocent (The Forever Series Book 1) by Deanna Roy <— and book #1 is on sale today, too! Oh YES!! I remember this blurb! Wow this sounds ANGSTY and has a ton of great reviews! “Corabelle doesn’t feel like any of the other college girls. On what should have been one of the happiest nights of her life, she and her boyfriend Gavin watched a nurse disconnect the ventilator from their seven-day-old baby. During the funeral two days later, Gavin walked out and never returned.
  • Making Faces by Amy Harmon <— Just because it’s just SO good. And Bobbi just dissevered it saying: “Late to the party again … but I finished reading Making Faces by Amy Harmon this morning and OH MY GOSH … THAT. BOOK. Just … that book. Wow. Holy book hangover.” I know, right??
  • Beautifully Done (Beautifully Awake Book 2) by Riley Mackenzie <— recent release and Michelle LOVED it: “I just finished reading Beautifully Done by Riley Mackenzie! It was amazing and emotional and I CANNOT stop thinking about it! You MUST read this book!!!”
  • A Moment (Moments Series Book 1) by Marie Hall <— MMA FIGHTER!! This is one that I enjoyed year or so ago, and it even has a book #2. I need to catch up! :D (my review of A Moment)
  • Right Now (Moments Series Book 2) by Marie Hall <— This is the sequel… (but I think a different couple) AND!! I just realized that this series has a book #3 (a different couple). Yep. I REALLY need to catch up.
  • This Time (Moments Book 3) by Marie Hall <— So far, SO good! Great reviews for the whole series!

  • A Perfect Life: A Novel by Danielle Steele <— Sounds good! She’s a TV powerhouse, with a blind teenage daughter that suddenly has to move back home… “A new caretaker provided by Salima’s school creates as many problems as he solves. Handsome, accomplished, thirty-two-year-old Simon Ward, with strong opinions on every topic, questions how mother and daughter view themselves and each other. Simon opens new doors for both of them and refuses to accept Salima’s physical limitations. He turns their world upside down, and the three become friends…
  • Second Chances by H.M. Ward <— Looks like this one’s a full length, standalone novel. Ooooooooh it’s a bit forbidden-y.  She’s significantly older than he is (and a single mom). I feel like I REALLY want to read this one… “Years pass and I’m still here, but it doesn’t feel like it, not until the lawn guy, Daniel Clemment, checks me out. Me. A yoga-panting, pony tailing, frumpy-butt, frizzy mommy who’s covered in whatever the baby tossed on me at lunch. Daniel’s dark eyes linger too long, as if he likes what he sees. I’m shocked and flattered, but he’s too young. The age gap between us is over a decade, but that doesn’t stop him.
  • Craving Absolution (The Aces Book 3) by Nicole Jacquelyn <— BIKER BOOK ALERT!!! I read book #1 and really enjoyed it (here’s my review of Craving Constellations), and now there are TWO more books!! I need to post the reading order. :)
  • Taming Alec: A Novella by K.A. Robinson <— “Her safe world explodes when she meets her new neighbor, Alec. Tattooed, pierced, and with a body to kill, he’s every woman’s wet dream. Too bad he’s arrogant beyond belief. Rebecca instantly hates him. Unfortunately, her body doesn’t agree.
  • Swinger Style (Hot Rods) by Jayne Rylon
  • Uninhibited (The Callahans Book 2) by Melody Grace <— ROCK STAR ALERT! “She’s spent years playing it safe, pining after the perfect man – who’s about to marry someone else. She doesn’t know how to move on, until a sexy stranger turns her world upside down with a wickedly tempting proposition…”
  • Let Me Love You (The Love Series, Book Four 4) by Megan Smith
  • Don’t Let Go: A Full Hearts Novella by MJ Summers
  • How to Reprimand Your Rock Star by Mina Vaughn <— “… all-star college basketball player Thea dominates on the courts—and off—with a rock star who is determined to win her over.
  • Fiancée for Hire (A Front and Center Novel) by Tawna Fenske <— sounds like fun. He’s a bad-a$$ undercover, and his sister’s best friend is his “fake fiancee”. Unbeknownst to him, she’s been crushing on him for years…
  • Falling for the Pirate (Entangled Scandalous) by Amber Lin <— Okay not contemporary (sounds more like historical/pirate romance) BUT!! I love this author’s other work, and must add it to the list! “Captive. All Juliana wanted was to clear her father’s name. Instead, she’s been struck with amnesia – unable to recall even her name – and imprisoned by a tall, imposing, and entirely unscrupulous pirate.”
  • Bound for Trouble: BDSM Erotica For Women by Alison Tyler
  • Lover Unknown by Ellie Kincade
  • Fearless Love by Kennedy Kelly <— single mom overcoming death of her husband, and she meets a contractor…
  • Falling for Her Husband (The Renaldis) by Karen Erickson
  • Wife Number Seven by Melissa Brown <— Up my alley-sounding!! “You see, there’s more to me than the braid that spills down my back. More to me than the layers of heavy fabric that maintain my modesty.  And so much more than the oppressive wedding band that adorns my finger–the same band that each of my sister wives wear.  So much more.  To protest would be sinful. I must keep sweet, that is my duty.” and then!!! “I’ll do my best to silence the resistance within me, to push him from my mind. If only my heart would do the same.” <— eek Ooooooooh!!!!! Beth says: “Wife Number Seven was UH-MAZING!!!!!!”
  • Different Dreams by Tory Cates
  • Reject Me: Kin Series Book 5 by Jennifer Foor <— Must be read in order… (I’ll create the reading order soon).
  • Meeting His Match (A Match Me Novel) (Entangled Lovestruck) by Katee Robert
  • Maybe This Time (The Belonging Series) by A.M. Arthur <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT!!  ”Witnessing his lover’s death two years ago has Donner trapped in a holding pattern—living in his sister’s basement, working at the Pot and flirting with the customers. He’s not above spending a night with the gorgeous Ezra, but love is not in the cards. That’s more than he’s ready for.”
  • General Misconduct by L.A. Witt <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT!! Oh sounds good! “It’s only a matter of time before they’re caught by a man who’s more than just Connor’s overprotective father. He’s also Aiden’s high-ranking boss. Someone with the power to force Aiden to choose—Connor, or his naval career.
  • Naked Risk (Shatterproof Book 3) by Jordan Burke
  • The Other Side of Someday (Carolina Days Book 1) by Carey Heywood
  • Hard Roads by Lily White <— DARK READ/BIKER READ ALERT!!! Our fellow reading buddy Sally went NUTS for this one saying: “I loved it! It was more than just another MC book because it had the infamous Lily White spin. That dark kind of f****d up that draws you in and spits you right back out. This book was a gripping ride of highs and lows that had me all kinds of crazy and I ate it up completely.” and Stephanie agrees: “Hard Roads by Lily White is awesome!!!” P.S. Sally reminds us (no cliffhanger): “Complete story… it was GREAT!”
  • Made to Sin: The Prologue and First Chapter to Ultimate Sins (The Callahans) by Lora Leigh
  • Taken by Lora Leigh <— MILITARY MEN (multiple stories in this one).
  • Hot Alpha SEALs: Military Romance Megaset by Sharon Hamilton, Anne Elizabeth, Cat Johnson, Cindy Dees, Cristin Harber, Delilah Devlin, Elle James, Gennita Low, J.M. Madden, Sabrina York, Teresa Reasor, P.T. Michelle <— ANTHOLOGY !! :D
  • Getting Played (Heart of Fame) by Lexxie Couper <— ROCK STAR SERIES!!!
  • Dark Chase (The Gunrunner Series Book 2) by Miranda Kavi <— MOB series alert!!
  • COME BACK: Dirty, Dark, and Deadly Book Two by J.A. Huss
  • Autumn Bliss (Romancing Wisconsin Book 5) by Stacey Joy Netzel <— MILITARY MAN! “Army veteran Levi Jenkins is still dealing with the aftermath of his last tour of duty. Working in the background as a maintenance man at Whispering Pines Lodge gives him the peace his soul craves. The last thing he wants is the distraction of a woman who charms his heart while teaching him to smile again. Or maybe, that’s exactly what he needs.
  • Revive (Storm MC #3) by Nina Levine <—- BIKER BOOK ALERT!!!! “It started out as a bit of harmless fun between friends; it wasn’t meant to get complicated for either of them. But when two broken souls come together and arouse unwanted feelings in each other, complicated is what happens.
  • Three Years (Gypsy Brothers Book 5) by Lili St Germain <— BIKER SERIES ALERT!!! Installment #5 is live (I won’t read the blurb just yet, ’cause I don’ts wanna spoil this series for myself).
  • Never Me by Kate Stewart <— Sounds good (and she sounds bad!!) She’s out to steal your boyfriend (doesn’t want one of her own… until him). “…I was the girl you talked about in your sad inner circle. The girl you shielded your boyfriend from as you cleverly covered him with your body when I came near… I was NEVER going to be you … until I met HIM.
  • SEX Unlimited Volume 1 (The Unlimited Series) by Kathryn Perez <— Angela recommends this brand new (short) release: “Brisban is hot! The second book just came our in this series and you will be excited for the third. Great writing.”

No book throwing form me – queen of squirrelly – I am STILL trying to decide my next one… I actually started re-reading Rule just to make sure it really was as good as I remembered, and YUP – it is – and now I am getting itchy to try her other books – “itchy squirrel” – just great! And Wife Sumber 7 is looming in the background….. argh…..

Rebecka July 22, 2014 at 12:16 PM

i”m with MichelleS!!! FAE CHRONICLES!
Forget felt it all day everyday!! I get that way every time I think about these books!! I also am 3x that age, but for Ryder I will break any taboo rules any day anytime!! When the next book comes out it will be like….. Husband who??? (thankfully he’s accommodating of my …. addiction er um illness)

Amy July 22, 2014 at 12:29 PM

But you know…there are some on here that make me a bit “squirrely”. <—-Oh no, those are fightin' words. You are *supposed* to be reading Fighting Destiny right now! You're being a good TBR-list girl?? *pbbbt* (that's me blowing raspberries at you)

I started FD last night, and so far Ryder isn't an alpha-jerk…he's just a d!ck. And yes, there is a difference. ;) But guess what? Guess what! The h, Syn, is an OPI nail polish addict!! Right away she mentions her OPI collection and wearing You Only Live Once (I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be You Only Live Twice from the Skyfall collection, which I have and it is beautiful!) and Paint Your Toron-Toes Rose from the *gasp* Canadian collection!

Uh…yeah…so, I'm just gonna go finish my reports while I'm still hyped up on all of this caffeine… *twitches*

Tessa July 22, 2014 at 12:33 PM

No squirelling! Read the Fae Chronicles. Ryder is beyond hot, a total aslpha (jerk), and story is there. It just drags you in, making you wonder wtf is really going on.

I definitely have to read Poison Promise, but Come looks really, really, really good. I might do my own squirelling there. :-D

Tessa July 22, 2014 at 12:37 PM

Amy, promise he starts as a dick, but morphs to alpha… Dick? Kinda like Barron. Let’s be honest. At the end of the Fever series, he’s still a jerk.

Rebecka July 22, 2014 at 12:39 PM

Amy so right…Dick at first but fast becomes total ALPHA hotness. Just you wait…in the next books you are going to love him just for the OPI reference alone!!! Like I told Maryse ……S’All I’m gonna say. READ IT!! :)

Amy July 22, 2014 at 12:50 PM

Okay, ladies, I’m taking your word for it. ;) Right now I just want to introduce his a$$ to the pavement! He’s a jerk, that man…fae…whatever…

Is Barron from the Fever series? I have the first three (four maybe?) books of that series but haven’t read them yet. *sigh* One a$$hat at a time. :P

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 12:52 PM

But Amy I love it when they’re d!cks!!! In books… always… only… in books. :P

No worries, I’m starting it tonight! :D

Rebecka July 22, 2014 at 12:56 PM

Yes to Barrons, but both ass hats are so worth it in the end!! {sigh}

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 12:57 PM

And I loved Barrons especially ’cause he was an ass!!!! All the way to the very end. Made it that much more fun in the *ahem* “romance” department.

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 12:58 PM

P.S. I love nail polish so I’m very excited about her!!

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 12:59 PM

LOL!! Dunno if I should mention this, but when I was typing “I love it when they’re d!cks” I actually whined it out loud (’cause I was so excited about this very fun fact), and my husband walked into the room and said… “Did you call me?”

LOL!!!!! Ahhhhh yes. That was just priceless.

P.S. He’s not one, though… he’s just a sweetie. :)

Rebecka July 22, 2014 at 1:04 PM

Just stick with it! I swear you won’t be disappointed!! Right up there with all our other favs! Bones, Vlad, Reyes, Barrons any of the BDB brothers etc etc.

I swear I’m Amelia’s personal Cheerleader!! I have no problems with that if she keeps writing like that!! She has a new one coming out too!! Darkest Before Dawn!! Not sure when it will be released expected summer of 2014.

Lori July 22, 2014 at 1:05 PM

I have the first 3 books in The Fae Chronicles, but am waiting for the 4th (and final, I think? Hope?) before taking on the series.

I read Craving Absolution last night and really liked it. I liked the first book in the series, didn’t much care for the second, glad to see the author is back on track.

I started Beautifully Done last week and lost interest at like 20%, maybe I’ll go back to it one day. I really liked Riley Mackenzie’s first in the series Beautifully awake, I’m disappointed that Done didn’t click with me.

Bijou Hunter’s Damaged and the Bulldog is suppose to go live today, but I can’t find it yet.

Amy July 22, 2014 at 1:10 PM

LOL!!!!! Of course you should mention that – it fits in with our topic of the moment which is…d!cks! *clears throat* I mean, guys which are that way, that is. :P

Oh! I saw swatches for the OPI Nordic collection for this Fall – much prettier on the nail than in the bottle. MINE!!!!

Amy July 22, 2014 at 1:13 PM

Er, guys in books…like you said, always and only in books. ;)

MichelleS July 22, 2014 at 1:39 PM

My itchy squirrelling found something finally – ‘Wife Number Seven” – GAH!You keep on truckin’ with Ryder (f-ing Fairy!!!) and I’ll squirm my way through this one. Yes. It’s squirmy. You know, the kind where you shut your Kindle off if someone is too close because it’s a secret pleasure that you like taboo books? And this is a whole new taboo. Maybe that’t why I’m squirming. Weird polygamy thingy… but totally has my interest. I’m 22% in now. It’s the book you will not tell anyone about, except the girls here on the blog! Time to get back to the uncomfortable, but interesting, read….

Rachel July 22, 2014 at 2:58 PM

I liked Wife Number Seven. It was a really interesting look into that kind of lifestyle. I would’ve liked more of a look and less of the other stuff that went on, but what can I say, I’m a voyeur at heart. I think I’ll look at the Fae Chronicles if it is actually not too fae-y. Maryse, have you heard of Kindle Unlimited? I’m sooooo tempted to do it but not sure if all of “our” books would be available.

Fabi July 22, 2014 at 3:43 PM

WOW what a list. But I’m working on the Fae Chronicles right now at MichelleS’s suggestion. Almost done with the first one. It’s gooood. I was so in the mood for a paranormal. It’s not over the top sci-fi either. It almost seems like the paranormal part of it takes a bit of a back seat. At first, I thought the heroine was too weak and the Hero too over the top jerk(y). But it didn’t take long before she stepped up with a backbone of steel and he showed his more caring side (in a male, I’m still the boss kind of way of course). Ha! Why do we like these men in our books. God forbid I’d ever have to deal with one long term in real life. ha!

Fabi July 22, 2014 at 4:02 PM

Amy, omg, if you haven’t read the Fever series. I put it off myself for what seemed like forever. Then, just before the last book came out, I dived into the series – and never looked back. I have the BIGGEST crush on Barrons. Not sure I’ve ever crushed on a book alpha for as long and as hard as I did him. *sigh*

Jean July 22, 2014 at 4:04 PM

I want so many on today’s list! And I think you all may have convinced me on The Fae Chronicles! Adding it to my growing list! (I think I will buy myself an Amazon gift card on the way home and then 1 click like crazy tonight)!

Just want to mention, I just finished My Skylar by Penelope Ward and loved it!!!! Childhood friends that become so much more and then bam!! That’s all I’m saying!

Love all the comments and recommendations as usual!

Fabi July 22, 2014 at 4:06 PM

Rachel, I signed up for the Kindle Unlimited a few days ago. It does not have -every- book I want to read available for free. But I’ve downloaded at least half a dozen in just 2-3 days. They are offering the first month free, so I figured I’d try it and see. If I find myself buying too many books outside of the available list of free ones, I’ll cancel after the first month.

MichelleS July 22, 2014 at 4:15 PM

Fabi – so how does it work? do you get to own these books? or do you have them for two weeks? still undecided on the Kindle Unlimited – going to wait to see how others like it, ’cause I know I’ll forget to cancel after the 30-day trial (hello 24-hour-fitness)….

Tessa July 22, 2014 at 4:30 PM

I did the unlimited thing. It’s basically up to ten books, and when done, you go to your account and return it. I’ve already borrowed four books. Three for me (one read already, one I’m reading and another) and one to read to the little guy here. :-) I didn’t see a due date though. Just a max of ten.

Amy July 22, 2014 at 5:23 PM

Jean!!! Good to “see” you! :D Come on, read Fighting Destiny with us! Maryse will be joining in tonight…right?? *sideeyes Maryse*

By the way, Ryder is still being a di…uh, jerk. I figure I said the other word enough today. :P

Jean July 22, 2014 at 5:56 PM

Haha… thanks Amy! OK I am in on Fighting Destiny. Just have to go download it with the gift card I just bought myself! I am a sucker for book peer pressure!

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 6:04 PM

Okay I’m home!! :D Gonna update the “moody alpha-male list” with the latest reader recs, and I’m starting Ryder. YAY ME!!! :D

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 6:04 PM

YAY JEAN!!!! :D We’ll be starting it together.

Amy July 22, 2014 at 6:32 PM

I really wish I had a fae right now who could muzzle the dog next door. *sigh* Anyways! I’m jumping back in to FD now. I’m about 20% in and looking forward to actually liking Ryder (it really is good so far though ;) ). Or maybe I just need some Midol. Oh! And this:

Woo-hoo! I have all of the ingredients!! :D I’m gonna be queen of the fairies tonight!! Um, I’ll just see myself out now…

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 7:05 PM

Tee hee!!!!

I’m just gonna go with a good ol’ tequila shot, salt and lime wedge included! Gotta do it right. :D Oh oh. Is this gonna be another chocolate martini episode, Amy? I was umm… a little… unproductive the next day.

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 7:09 PM

Oh wait, Amy. Yours just sounds delicious. Maybe even better than the chocolate martinis. Eeeep. Danger ahead! Those go down too easy. :P

shannon July 22, 2014 at 7:54 PM

The complete Riding the Line series by Jayna Vixen is on sale for .99!! Excellent MC series and worth every penny and more.

MichelleS July 22, 2014 at 8:30 PM

I have to admit, I got jealous of the Queen of the Fairy Drinks (sounds so yummy I am going to go out and buy those ingredients tomorrow!) and that you are reading FD as a group… so I opened up my Kindle to chapter 2 so I didn’t feel left out. It still rocks!! I can see that he may come off as a “d” word… but at the time I was really into “d” words (going to hell in a hand-basket after this thread, I tell ya’). Hope you stick with it and just enjoy it for what it is: a nod to all we like in one happy place (death by sex, wild hunts, dirty dirty potty mouth)… I’m now at 27%… pathetic… I am joining the group….

Cheryl July 22, 2014 at 8:51 PM

On book 2 of Fae Chronicles and I while I like a good dick… guys in books that is **snort** ;) … Ryder just has my panties in a wad, because he is a MAJOR schizo-hot-alpha-dick!!!!! Just no sugar-coating it!!!! Ugh, just when is book 4 coming out??? I definitely need me some fairie cocktails.Yum!!!

Amy July 22, 2014 at 8:54 PM

YES!! This is gonna be another one of tthose nights!! Not going anywhere tomorrow so blanket cave, my ipad and greasy breakfast for supper again tomorrow!!!

Yay!! I heart you guys sooooooo much!!!

OMG so yummy! I’m on my second and wowwwww. I AM the queen of the fairies tonight!! I even like Ryder now a little more. Or a lot more. Or maybe because he can sex to death!! Awesome way to go! :D

And Michelle I’ll be the first one thrown in that basket!

Amy July 22, 2014 at 8:55 PM

Cheryl likes a good *what*????? BAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Fabi July 22, 2014 at 8:58 PM

I hope you’re all going straight into the second book. Really there was no option for me. I had to start reading the second one immediately. Really like this series. Thanks Michelle. You might agree it’s not as good as the Fever series , but then again, what is? Ryder definitely gets better. Damn right hugglable in places. :-) You have to get through the first part of the book before either of the two main characters get really likable.

Tessa July 22, 2014 at 9:03 PM

Sex to death…?

Then Amy, after these, you seriously have to read the Fever series! *grins*

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 9:48 PM

I’m reading it! :)

Maryse July 22, 2014 at 10:12 PM

Ooohhhh I’m liking this.

“If you ever try to Fae-f&@k me again – I’ll kill you fairy.”

Best line ever! :D

MichelleS July 22, 2014 at 10:33 PM

I bow to the book-god that is Karen Moning, so, yes, Fabi, I agree that it is NOT the Fever series. But it is a delicious little slice of everything: have you noticed the mentions to the “red room of pain” (ha!) and there’s a “Z” in it… and Vlad Tepish… and necromancer type raising of the dead in graveyards (hello Anita Blake) and she dances on his feet (ah – gah – Twilight the Movie) and “no panties to the bar” (hello Cat and Bones)…. I must be drunk. I never noticed all this the first time around. I was too busy keeping my gaping mouth off the floor every time he opened his mouth.

Jennifer July 22, 2014 at 10:43 PM

Both the Destiny series and Fever series are so great!! Good luck ladies you will love them! Get reading!

Cheryl July 22, 2014 at 11:19 PM

Okay, about 70% in book 2 and I just might have to re-think this dick thing.

Ryder is making me cry… “I need to touch your soul and leave my mark on you, so that you will never forget me.” *sigh…grabbing kleenex and fairie cocktail

Carla July 23, 2014 at 1:50 AM

Hey Maryse, did you see that Dakota Johnson – the same girl from fifty shades of grey – will be starring as Elsie in the upcoming film “Forever, Interrupted”? It’s an adaptation of that book you read one of these days… I just saw this news and I thought you’d like to know, if you still don’t…

Isabelle Peterson July 23, 2014 at 7:34 AM

Thrilled to have been noticed by you, Maryse! Quick note – Book 3 (Chasing the Dream) was released not quite a week ago & doing very well, too! Thanks!

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 8:28 AM

Yes, yes, oh yes Michelle, I noticed all of that! I’m into the 2nd book now and I think Ryder has a case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Ugh!!! Now I’m getting whiplash from the guy going from d!ck to awww melt my heart. And omg after yesterday’s d!ck fest here I read the funniest line in this book. Syn: “I mean c’mon, I gave his d!ck a better rating than chocolate – who does that?” Maybe I found it funnier because of all of you cracking me up with your posts here. :-)

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 8:31 AM

Jennifer, I haven’t read the Destiny series. But if you’re comparing it to Fever, I’d like to know more. What is it called or who is it by?

Julie July 23, 2014 at 8:32 AM

I’m on vacay & powering thru my TBR! Finished the 3 books in the Needing Moore series, which is still on sale for $4.99. So good! They find each other again after 24 years and a misunderstanding in college. Finished Night Owl last night. They epi had wild theories going crazy in my head! Starting Remember When trilogy and The Redhead series today. As always, love your recs!

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 8:39 AM

Woah!!! Just realized that’s Isabelle Peterson from the Dream series.

Rebecka July 23, 2014 at 8:50 AM

Fabi, I just had to run with your Dr J/ Mr H reference and keep the dick fest alive.
Like most alpha dicks we love… They go from Mr. Softie to Mr. Hard as nails in a nano second…..(yep went there :) )
Isn’t that why we love em though??

Jean July 23, 2014 at 9:00 AM

Blahahaha Rebecka! That was priceless!

Amy July 23, 2014 at 10:22 AM

LOL Rebecka!! :P

Maryse and Jean, how far did you ladies get last night?

MichelleS July 23, 2014 at 10:36 AM

Amy – I’m all in (again) too…. I am at 20% on number 2 – and my hand-basket is on fire…I’m realizing the second time around that there is SO MUCH smut… and that I had forgotten much of the story detail… I think I was so overwhelmed by all that is Ryder the first go around! But, it’s summer and I was in need of a good old romp just for fun and this is definitely that!

Amy July 23, 2014 at 10:37 AM

I just saw Carla’s post, and I had a gut punch. Maybe because that book is still so fresh to me. I hope they do the book justice! And if they include the last line at the end of the movie…oh my… *sniffle*

Amy July 23, 2014 at 10:39 AM

Yay Michelle! Told ya, I’m in that basket with you…and now so is Rebecka with her comment from above. ;)

*snicker* A good old romp… :P

Jean July 23, 2014 at 10:43 AM

Ugh, didn’t start last night…. had to pay some attention to my hubby! Haha! Starting at lunch though!

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 10:53 AM

Haaaa Rebecka too funny.
Jean…that’s the only acceptable excuse. Lol
Michelle, yup there is definitely smut in this book. But it’s the good kind of smut. Fun smut.
….sheesh, did I just say that? haha guess so

Jean July 23, 2014 at 10:55 AM

I love fun smut!

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 11:27 AM

lol Jean. I guess I really was in the mood for a paranormal cause this on is just hitting the spot.

In spite of its similarities to other books, this one has some really great lines of it’s own.

“I was homeless, jobless, and attracted to the one thing that would surely kill me in the end.
The reality set in that I had even lost my dog, and now my life was just one tragedy away from becoming a sad country song.”

So true don’t you think? Sometimes life sucks.

and this one…

Ryder: I’m about to wrap you in f’ing bubble wrap

Syn: I hear plastic isn’t in these days and, besides, it wouldn’t last long since I have a weakness to pop the bubbles.

love it! I like my heroines to be on the stronger side and she is all girl with the nail polish and the crying and hugs and emotions and best friends – but strong too, not letting life keep her down for long.

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 11:34 AM

Ummmm… Is it bad that I never found Ryder to be that much of a d!ck, yet? *cringe*

Not even the start. I mean he was obviously one (is obviously one) but I wasn’t… you know. Overly offended?

I mean obviously he is, but this is about on par with my expectations of a paranormal “legend” of sorts. Like Eric in Sookie, for example. In fact, I think I found Barrons to be even more of a d!ck.

My “d!ck-o-meter” must be set to high-tolerance level. ;)

Mind you I’m loving it. :)

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 11:43 AM

Meant to include this one

” …you saved me. They failed because the guy at my side is the biggest, baddest boogeyman on the whole f’ing block”

Everyone with me now…awwww Ryder

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 11:45 AM

No, Maryse, I agree with you. At the beginning of book one I was more turned off by her weakness to go along with things than his demands that she do so.

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 11:47 AM

If the bartender is really Dracula, I am crushing big time! *sigh* I’ve always been a vampire girl…

Amy July 23, 2014 at 11:50 AM

Jean, that’s definitely a good reason not to start it. ;) My hubby called last night while I was in the middle of enjoying my fairy drinks and told me I would be hurting today since we aren’t in our 20′s anymore…yeah, my mind forgets that sometimes…

*giggle* Maryse has a d!ck-meter. :P Well, at least my tolerance will be built up when I finally get to the Fever series…sounds like I’ll need it. ;)

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 11:50 AM

OMG!! 50% mark just made me gasp!! I LOVE that twist!! What a reveal!

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 11:52 AM

This one sums him up well.

“He was primal, sexual, and deadly to his very core.”

Amy July 23, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Ryder is growing on me. *fanning myself* And Vlad…mmmm, yummy. :P

Oh, and at 50%…I know!!! I’m loving Ryder’s reaction to it. ;)

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 11:58 AM

And her…

“I’m not some damsel in distress.”

Oh yeah, my kind of badass characters

Ana July 23, 2014 at 11:58 AM

I also found two bargains TODAY too good not to share! The Lawyers in Love series by N.M Silber is on sale today, all books are .99 cents! I have read the first two books and they are sexy and HILARIOUS! Could not put them down! Also, the 2nd book of Raine Miller’s “The Blackstone Affair” is on sale from $7.99 to $2.99! I’m dying to read this series!

MichelleS July 23, 2014 at 12:00 PM

Yes, he’s supposed to be THE Dracula – Vlad Tepish. But I am crushing on Ristan, Ryder’s demon buddy. And, Maryse, obviously I never thought of him as that much of “d” because you know I’ve been crushing on him for a while. I think my smut-meter is definitely broken. Not easily offended. But a story doesn’t HAVE to have smut for me to like it – and if it does, I won’t dislike it. Is this YA? heck no…. but, believe it or not, it makes the list of popular PNR books with teens (ack!!!!). What I truly love about these books is the dialogue. Keeps me in stitches (and squirming)… like… /”I am not panicking. I don’t panic. Why would I panic?” I was sooo panicking./ and, “Oooh! Two Ryders… hot damn.” – I just laugh and laugh non stop.

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 12:01 PM

Oh yeah Amy, Ryder definitely “grows” on Syn as well as on us. *snicker*

Amy July 23, 2014 at 12:10 PM

*snort* He “grows” on Syn… Lol!!

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 12:11 PM

Yup Michelle, Vlad and Risten – Adam and Adrein – sigh
But I’m personally crushing on Zahruk. He’s even referred to as “Z”. That pulls the heart strings. Anyways, as little as I know about him so far, I like him.

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 12:16 PM

The dialogue is awesome:

Syn: “Maybe it’s too much testosterone arguing with me?”

MichelleS July 23, 2014 at 12:41 PM

okay – more *SNORTS* (Gotta run with the theme) – Isn’t great when their love SWELLS and the D finally becomes the hero and we get so ENGORGED, I mean engrossed (my bad) in their story….

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 1:04 PM

Haaa Michelle.

Great reading suggestion btw. I. Can’t believe I’d missed this one. I thought I’d hit all the good para normals.

Feeling like a silly teen. Especially with all this goofy girl talk. Loving it.

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 1:06 PM

Theme cont’d. Don’t you all hate arguing with testosterone as well? Always seems to clam up and get all *stiff* like.

Jean July 23, 2014 at 1:11 PM

You guys are cracking me up! Love all the quotes Fabi! Can’t wait to get done work today and get back to this book!

Maryse….d!ck-meter? I almost spit my drink out when I read that!

Rebecka July 23, 2014 at 2:06 PM

Ladies: You all are cracking me the hell up!! I’m so with you though My D!ck-o-meter, Smut-o-meter and Alph-a-meter are set to HIGH VOLTAGE tolerance. Seems like the more testosterone the harder I fall! Just as long as I love em in the end. I can tolerate just about anything they thrust my way!! Bring it on Ryder!! Yum!!
Michelle S I love Ristan too…The Banter that Syn and Ristan have is too f’ing funny.

Rebecka July 23, 2014 at 2:14 PM

Thought you all needed a bit more to drool over….A blurb from a new one. Coming soon (I Hope)
Darkest Before Dawn – Amelia Hutchins

“Would you shiver when my fingers tangle in your hair? Like this?” His hands pulled at my hair, and as if on cue, I shivered. “Would you shut your eyes, if I pulled you against me? Like this,” his hands reeled me in, and his lips fanned my ear. My eyes closed on cue. “Would you moan for me, when I bite your bottom lip, like this,” his teeth grazed my lip and then he bit gently and sure enough, I moaned even as I tried not to. “Would you try to stop me if I reached down and pulled your panties down to your knees? Would you resist me when my hands parted your shivering legs apart? Would you moan as my fingers found your waiting wetness? Would you sigh for me as I wrapped your legs around me? Would you bite my lip back, when I finally pushed my hard c*ck inside of you? Would you, sweet Emma? Would you come for me if I asked you to?”

Ok you can close your mouths now :) or damn just go get a bib……you’re embarrassing yourselves…..reall!!!. {BIG OLE EYE WAGGLING GRIN}

Amy July 23, 2014 at 2:32 PM

Um…so…alright, I love Ryder!! Poise pad, anyone? :P

Amy July 23, 2014 at 2:34 PM

The hunt…yeah, he won me over with that… *sigh*

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 2:48 PM

Crap Rebecka. I had just taken a sip of water when I read that and it just got stuck in my mouth as I just froze and couldn’t even swallow. Is that even allowed as a preview blurb? ;-)

Rebecka July 23, 2014 at 2:50 PM

LOL AMY!! Yeah Baby!!!

Jean July 23, 2014 at 2:52 PM

OMG Rebecka! Holy hotness! Melting here from that blurb! And your “anything they thrust my way” comment made me lol!

Rebecka July 23, 2014 at 4:24 PM

What the????Ok now THAT is a D!CK!! I don’t even see Hero in that blurb anywhere!! That’s just Dochey Dickness!

Rebecka July 23, 2014 at 4:26 PM

Lol douchey dickness

Cheryl July 23, 2014 at 4:40 PM

You guys are cracking me up with comments about Ryder.
Loving Ryder now. Such a badass, when he’s not being a dick:

“No Pet, I’ll be your Prince F*@#ing Charming!!”

Speaking of “meters”, about 60% in book 2 the angst-meter has just taken a major jump!! Cue stomach clenching… now onto book 3 and biting my nails. Ugh, Ryder and Synthia you’re killing me!!!

julie o July 23, 2014 at 4:59 PM

Guess I am going to have to read ” these Fae books”. Have never been into paranormal but will give it a shot, cause they sound really hot!

I just finished Dark Chase by Miranda Kavi and really liked it. It is sequel to Dark Trade. It is really not Mafia, but kind of. He is an international arms dealer or gun runner. Haven’t read anything about that genre so was interesting.

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 5:56 PM

I know Cheryl, it got major a gusty. sniffle sniffle. Noooo don’t do it! But I hope happens what I think is gonna happen.

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 5:57 PM

Why did spell correct change angsty to gutsy? Ugh

Amy July 23, 2014 at 6:03 PM

Fabi, because we have to be gutsy to read angsty stuff. ;) *cue collective groan*

Ladies, for those of you who have read book 3, is there a cliffhanger in it? And when is the fourth book supposed to be out? If book 3 *does* have a CH, I don’t want to read book 2 (CH?) and book 3 until the fourth is out. Cliffhangers suck di…uh, they suck. ;) Who started that “d” talk anyways? *snicker*

Tessa July 23, 2014 at 6:26 PM

3 has a ch, but the next book is “soon”. Someone said this summer? Idk, but you’ll miss a lot if you miss 2.

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 6:30 PM

Okay I’m back home and now back to finishing my book. YAY ME!!! :D

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 6:44 PM

haha Amy and too true. I haven’t finished 2 yet, but it really is a must read. And I say we blame the dirty talk on Ryder.

Yeah Maryse reading time.

Amy July 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Okay, so does book 2 have a CH? I want to read it, but if there is a CH then I will want to read book 3 which *does* have a CH, and then I will be all pissy…and I don’t feel like being pissy over a book. ;)

Amy July 23, 2014 at 7:02 PM

Oh, and Maryse – I ordered the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara…so excited!! How did UD Big Fatty work for you?

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 7:06 PM

OMG! Perversion? That sounds very rich! Gah I wish we could post pics in these comments…

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 7:08 PM

Big fatty will work fine. It takes me about two weeks with a new mascara for it to look right on me. It’s pretty “wet” still, which is the issue with brand new mascaras, but it most certainly makes some crazy thick lashes. Just requires extra care in the separating them. Soon the formula should dry out just enough for me. :)

MichelleS July 23, 2014 at 7:18 PM

Book two is even better than book one, so you HAVE to keep reading, Amy . I never felt like I was missing out with the cliffhangers – and more Ryder was always worth it.

MichelleS July 23, 2014 at 7:22 PM

“Big Fatty” is a mascara? Not a “d”? Oh My…. even our makeup has gone to smuttville….

Amy July 23, 2014 at 7:28 PM

Speaking of separating lashes, can you believe my friends and I used to use safety pins to separate our lashes in high school? *shudder*

I ordered Perversion (love that name!) from Urban Decay directly because it’s only available online from Sephora, and I wanted the UD Perversion angled brush for my gel liner. OMG, gel liner is my new favorite for winged eyeliner or dramatic evening looks…so I had to pick up a Super-Saturated Ultra Intense cream liner as well before checking out. ;) Okay, I’m jumping back in with Ryder now!! :D

Amy July 23, 2014 at 7:30 PM

LOL Michelle!!!!!! OMG, that was freaking hilarious!!! :P

Rebecka July 23, 2014 at 8:10 PM

JulieO You are missing out girl!!! PNR is a new kind of freakydeaky Alpha. There is regular sex… Alpha sex…..BDSM sex then in a league of it’s own…..there is PNR sex!! If it was real I’d be like sign my a$$ up!

Fabi: Maybe you need a DICKtionary LOL

OMG MIchelleS Smutty minds think a like!! :) My same thoughts then I got down to your comment and was lmao. Guess I’m along for the ride to smutsville…. TAXI!!

Maryse: Oh if only we could post pics. This would turn to porn PDQ with the “Big Fatty” comment alone!!

Amy: CH but not too bad….but then you are speaking to a person who loves a CH. Oh wait are we talkin Cliffys or d!ck references. No really I do love a good cliffy. I know I’m insane like that…I love the suspense.

What the hell has Ryder done to us??? I am so glad all of you are enjoying like I did!!

MichelleS July 23, 2014 at 9:00 PM

Fabi, Amy, Cheryl, Rebecka… And Maryse.. We should start a thread on FB page, because I want to click “like” to all your posts here.. You are cracking me up. And… You can post pictures!! Oh no… That could be bad…

Cheryl July 23, 2014 at 9:01 PM

Hmmm… maybe that’s what needs to happen for me to like the Better Than Sex by Too Faced mascara- it’s too wet and clumps. Umm…does it just dry out some on it’s own or do you do something to it Maryse?

I LOVED the part in book 2 when the “men” are arguing on how and if they can break into a building with all kinds of security, when Synthia secures a rope on the roof, runs, flies thru the air, loops her leg thru the rope, and then does a fancy flip into the building, of course while wearing a tight leather outfit!!! She’s a bada@* too!!! ;) Think I read somewhere book 4 expected release late summer.

Fabi July 23, 2014 at 9:31 PM

Just finished 2. I think I’m going to wait until more of you catch up before starting 3. My guitar is feeling lonely and neglected from all this reading. Ryders fault of course.

Ha! Dicktionary – can you imagine it’s definitions?

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 9:47 PM

It’s just a waiting game Cheryl…. A couple of weeks, of daily useage and it should be ready!

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 9:48 PM

I’m at “the hunt” eeeeeep!! (At the Fae party)

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 9:50 PM

Oh! My mom used to use Maybelline mascara (that old green and pink bottle) and whenever she’d get a new bottle, she’d open them (brush still in the bottle but top unscrewed) on her dresser for a week or so before she’d chuck the old one and use that one. She swore by that method to thicken or “dry it out” a bit.

Just something I remember from my childhood.

P.S. Not sure if that’s “safe” or anything… Bacteria or whatever (better to keep makeup sealed), but then again, we sweep the used brush on our eyes on a daily basis so what’s a little air? LOL!

MichelleS July 23, 2014 at 10:12 PM

You’re talking about mascara at 9:50, which means you don’t like the book :-(

Well, you have to at least all the smut-chatter it has produced! That’s something, right?

Maryse July 23, 2014 at 10:42 PM

I like it!!! Very much!

Amy July 23, 2014 at 11:33 PM

That’s a good idea from your mom. As for bacteria…psht, there’s probably more bacteria on my lashes than there is in the air! ;)

Oooooh, the hunt! *cough* Big fatty ahead *cough*

Rebecka July 24, 2014 at 12:10 AM

Here’s more from Amelia’s newsletter

And for those of you asking, yes we will be seeing standalone’s for the men of the Fae Chronicles! Vlad, Ristan and the rest will all have their stories told, because I’m pretty sure they won’t shut up until they get them! Interesting fact, we have met some of their ladies already!

Q: Will we continue to see crossovers with the characters even as they gain their own stories?
A: Absolutely. Ryder is the King after all, and his brothers are his guards.
I have enjoyed helping to answer some of the questions I could without giving too much away. Seducing Destiny is set to release in late summer, and the reason it’s set for then is I need to write it right. I have to tell the story as it’s told to me. I have to be true to my characters.
Q: Where do you see this story going, and how many books are planned?
A: There have always been five in this series. It will take that many to get the full story out. I see it going into standalones for the men, and branching out into other series.

Q: Are your books YA, and will you write one?
A: I might, but it would have to be an older YA, because I write hot, and my men are normally alpha and headstrong horny SOB’s.

Cheryl July 24, 2014 at 7:32 AM

Five books and standalones?!!!! Oh, my that’s a lot of “hot, headstrong, alpha, horny SOB’s”… that’s a good thing, right?!!! *snort*

MichelleS- would be interesting to have FB thread, however, I’m not on facebook.

Just what is considered late summer? *sigh*

Going to give the mascara another try, maybe I will leave it open..not afraid of air :)

Rebecka July 24, 2014 at 11:40 AM

I’m thinking (hoping) late Aug/Sept. When the next book comes out I would love to read along and do a thread with you all too! Don’t feel bad Cheryl I don’t do FB either actually I just signed up about 3 weeks ago and that is as far as I got. Maryse’s and GR sites keeps me busy enough LOL

Fabi July 24, 2014 at 1:16 PM

Rebecka thanks for the Q&A from Amelia. Looks like this is another long series I’ll be following.

I don’t do FB either. I’ve tried a couple of times but deleted the account within a week or two. I enjoy sites that are theme specific like wonderful Maryse’s site. Books, music and anything else that catches my interest. It’s great to chat with other people enjoying the same thing.

Maryse a huge thank you for creating and maintaining this blog. I’ve gotten more excellent reading material from your site than anywhere else.

Maryse July 24, 2014 at 2:39 PM

My pleasure my friends!! And thank you for hanging out with me. I love it here, too.

*big squeeeeezy group hug*

MichelleS July 24, 2014 at 3:04 PM

Well, I finished “Wife Number Seven” and have downgraded my 4 star feeling to 3.5 stars, because the ending was completely rushed. All kinds of things left unexplained. It had so much potential. Maybe the author ran out of steam or got bored? I know I did. Sorry guys…. On to “Finding Home” – keeping finger crossed…..

Fabi July 24, 2014 at 3:29 PM

I’m going to read Finding Home next. I just started book 3 of the Fae Chronicles. This one is more angsty than the others. Ryder is easy as easy to hate as he is to love.

Maryse July 24, 2014 at 5:45 PM

YAY Finding Home!!!! :D

I have a couple of reviews to write before I start my next. ;)

Cheryl July 24, 2014 at 11:04 PM

Finding Home?? Who is the author? Didn’t see that on the list of book releases.

Fabi July 25, 2014 at 11:46 AM

It doesn’t look like many of you went on to book 3. But I just had to come here and vent. I hate Ryder so much that I just want to jump into the pages of the book and beat him until I rattle his brains.

Jean July 25, 2014 at 11:54 AM

Oh no Fabi! I don’t like to hear that!

Tessa July 25, 2014 at 12:00 PM

Hahaha. I take it you’re in the middle of 3? He does like his secrets, doesn’t he?

Fabi July 25, 2014 at 1:13 PM

This is Ryder…
I got you pregnant. I’m marrying someone else. But no worries, I will still keep you as one of my mistresses. And here you go darling, here’s a whole factory of nail polish to make you happy.

Fabi July 25, 2014 at 1:38 PM

Ok, done, and not too bad of a cliffhanger. Boy did I hate Ryder this book. ;-)

Amy July 25, 2014 at 3:10 PM

Fabi, nooooooooo!!!!!! I hate spoilers!! *bangs head on table* I’m gonna go sulk now… :(

Jean July 25, 2014 at 3:44 PM

I know Amy! I didn’t want to say anything…..BUT I HATE spoilers too! Ugh! No worries, I forgive you Fabi….

Amy July 25, 2014 at 4:07 PM

Yep, I’m with ya, Jean…no hard feelings, Fabi. ;)

Cheryl July 25, 2014 at 4:25 PM

Finished book 3. Can’t wait to see in what direction book 4 goes…complicated…nothing is easy…come on late summer…

Amy & Jean now you need to go on and read book 2 & 3. It keeps getting better and better and you learn more about Synthia and Ryder… worth the cliffhanger- which isn’t a bad one!!!

Fabi- Finding Home? Was that on one of Maryse’s book release lists?

Cheryl July 25, 2014 at 4:27 PM

Nevermind just saw Finding Home on today’s bargain e-books list. ;)

Fabi July 25, 2014 at 5:10 PM

God, I am sooooo sorry. I was so Deakin pissrd reading that book. Right after I posted that I realized that it hadn’t happened yet in book 2. I wanted to cut my fingers off! Gah! I hate that this board doesn’t have a way for us to delete or edit our own posts. Shoot. I feel sooooo bad. Slimming off into the dark dunce corner now. So sorry!

Fabi July 25, 2014 at 5:16 PM

Yes it was Cheryl. It’s next for me. Ladies here have been raving over it and since one of them said it has an HEA, IM ON IT. :-) There’s only one thing I hate more than a cliffhanger, one without an HEA. I’ve stayed away from overly angsty books since Rainfall. That one did me in. So I’m just now venturing back with this one.

Fabi July 25, 2014 at 5:17 PM

If auto correct doesn’t stop changing my words I’m going to stomp my phone into the ground. lol

On with you Fabi. Cliffhangers are okay, but no HEA is absolutely horrible. I just end up crying too much. There’s a book that was standalone without a HEA and I’m still waiting for a book two for that to change. (It won’t happen, but I still hope!)

Then again I read an unnamed series when it first came out, and the unplanned fourth book to get make it suddenly an HEA SUCKED!!! Soooo….

Chin up Fabi. We all get emo over our books and just have to rant and forget sometimes :)

I’m holding out hope in book 4 and 5! Either way….Syn is bad a$$ she will come out just fine with or without her F’ing Fairy :)

I still love Ryder though cliffy or not HEA or not!

Seriously, Fabi…it’s okay. :) I’ve probably done the same thing accidentally in the past as well. ;)

I had to come back to this thread because Making Faces is listed here and I just finished reading it.

I have a quote from the book that sums it up very nicely. I promise it doesn’t give anything away. This book…wow, heart wrenching.

I am fairly new to contemporary romance and I wish they came with a warning label. If you like to read about real life pain, real life struggle and real life courage, this one will do it.

So, what is it about? Well, like I said, no spoilers but straight from the book:

“True beauty, the kind that doesn’t fade or wash off, takes time. It takes pressure. It takes incredible endurance. It is the slow drip that makes the stalactite, the shaking of the Earth that creates mountains, the constant pounding of the waves that breaks up the rocks and smooths the rough edges. And from the violence, the furor, the raging of the winds, the roaring of the waters, something better emerges, something that would otherwise never exist.
“And so we endure. We have faith that there is purpose. We hope for things we can’t see. We believe that there are lessons in loss, power in love, and that we have within us the potential for a beauty so magnificent that our bodies can’t contain it.”

I haven’t read that one. Right I think I need a break from all these hard hitting real life stories. I headed for some fantasy. Hahaha
