<— HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! LOOK WHAT’S LIVE!!!! I read it, enjoyed it BIG time AND I reviewed it, and now it’s finally here!
But, of course, it’s no longer on MY TBR list, but I have found a few on this new release list that has me squirrely. Like: Sugar & Gold (Emma Scott is one of my favorite authors, and this blurb is so intriguing and already tugging at my heartstrings), Dear Aaron (I’m DYING to read this, because she’s another one of my favorite authors and there’s just something about writing and falling in love with a soldier you’ve never met that I KNOW I can get into), Hot Cop (<— that title says it all!!! It’s such a fun-sounding blurb and she wants a baby, and I think she’s enlisting the hot cop.) Eight (he’s a single father with a baby, grieving the love of his life, and is struggling with his attraction to another woman), and this one!!! Never Again (she has the perfect marriage and is so happy, until an accident reveals truths and has them unraveling). OH MY!!!!
Oh and don’t forget to check out yesterday’s 13 Earlybird Book Releases (<— 2 on there that I WILL be reading, and maybe that will be next for me, especially the roommate one. Eeeeep!! :D!!!).
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

Good Morning!
Help!!! I think I am officially in a book slump.☹
MORNING! Oh no Leslie! I read a great book and now not so great so I might be joining you!
Good morning!! So MANY new releases I don’t know which one to read first!!
Is Dangerous Rush the sequel/conclusion or is there a book three?
Off to work…
It’s kind of weird but I have heard so much about the Scott and Reid book and seen the covers pop up all the time they don’t seem new.
Instead of building anticipation it’s done the opposite. Like an inoculation.
Has anyone else ever felt like that before?
bev YES!!!!!
Sometimes a book will go live, and I won’t realize it’s actually live because I’ve seen it posted daily for weeks, so I don’t immediately post it thinking it’s just a teaser or thinking it must be on sale or something…
And then I clue in. BRAND NEW LIVE. *sigh* I TOTALLY GET YOU
Leslie, break out of the norm. Try something new.
Leslie have you read The Martian????? IT IS SO GOOOOOD I PROMISE YOU!!! Totally not my thing but come to find out, one of the best books I ever read, and it made me laugh and kept me on the edge of my seat like no other.
All the time, Bev. I’m a want what I can’t have kind of girl, so any time there’s a new release like, say a month out, I want it sooo bad. I have tons of books on my tbr, but I don’t want to read THAT ONE, I want the one that isn’t even out and nothing else will sound as good till it’s here. And I think about it so much, build up the anticipation, and then it’s here! And then I’m not always so excited to read it, I don’t need it right NOW anymore. And then look a new one is coming out in a couple months, THAT’S the one! Lol, I live for the chase apparently.
Leslie, Allegedly. Start with a sample and you may be hooked!
Lol.
I have a few of those. I needed it now, could not wait for a sale. Must have it. And now it’s been sitting in the tbr 4, 5, 6 months….a year or two. Horrible.
Sometimes it’s a lost like commercials, you see them so often you don’t see them anymore.
Speaking of. ….
I’m officially giving up on pushing Simon. It was a good fight. But he and Bieber need to go off and enjoy oreos.
However. …..To Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil not so much……Maryse. *insert evil laugh*
Yea, I second that! Such a good book…
Ooh I didn’t know there was a cover change, not that I didn’t like the 1st, but I like this one too! Ok, this is super corny, and I debated actually typing it, but I’m gonna do it anyway. Lol Bc of the main characters name and all- You’ve gotta read this Bish!!!
I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but don’t rush in to Dear Aaron. I 1-clicked bc I LOVE her books. But seriously. Sooooooooooo disappointed. It took me 2 days to read bc it was so boring & disappointing. And the end?! Just kinda happened. Idk what exactly was resolved…but it ended. WTF. Ugh!!!! I’m selfish bc I want you to read it so we can discuss, but I couldn’t let someone else go in as excited as I was & then suffer unknowingly.
LMAO, Tasha.
Ooooh, Maryse. She called you out. Lol.
Morning guys! *dances in Grey’s release day confetti*
I just saw on GR Hopeless by Colleen Hoover is free today too!
Just checked my email and Goodreads said this one released today too https://www.amazon.com/Map-That-Leads-You-ebook/dp/B01N96OY1P/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1497370391&sr=1-1&keywords=the+map+that+leads+to+you I put this on my tbr bc someone said they’d heard the main character resembles Jess from Gilmore Girls (sold!), and also I liked the blurb. Lol, but I thought at the time it was already out for a while, so surprise! 😛 I’ve read Lisa’s review too, looks like a keeper!
I felt the same way about Dear Aaron. I’m moving on 50% in but I might go back. Does it pick up at all?
Bev, it is funny about the new releases because every week I think, “that’s a new one?!? I have been hearing about it for months”! My GR friends do ARC’s so I have already read several reviews on new ones…makes them seem like they are old news.
☹
I DEFINITELY got to try something new, but new for me usually ends up as DNF. Grrrrr
Maryse, I probably would give The Martian a try if I didn’t already see movie. I need something “fresh”.
Tasha, Allegedly sounds heavy. I would have to be in right mood to tackle that. I read something similiar: After by Amy Efaw. I liked it, but tough subject matter.
I want something where I totally fall in love with characters….something that grabs me from first page and is unputdownable.
I’m lovin’ this list today!!
Beyond with its unique premise…Seven Husbands because TJR!…Dangerous Rush with all of its potential SC Stephens-style angst…All the Secrets We Keep because I have the first one and absolutely LOVE the beautiful covers…The Identicals because I’ve really enjoyed her books in the past…Never Again because HOLY MOLY that blurb…
I LOVE TUESDAYS!!! Bikini martinis all around!! This evening, I mean. 😉
Tasha and bev…you two summed up that dilemma perfectly, LOL! Right there with ya.
Leslie! I’ve seen that one (After) many times and have always thought about clicking it. I may just have to give it a shot. I don’t know how I could possibly sympathize with the h but I love being surprised like that.
Disappointed to hear about Dear Aaron, especially since I was thinking of giving it a try. 😕
Dear Aaron isn’t up to snuff??? Nooooo! I love MZ’s books.
But, I don’t know how anyone can be in a book slump when it is literally raining books today!! So many goodies to choose from and different genres. I’m so overwhelmed I don’t know where to start. I might have to put my books on a roulette wheel and spin for my next read! HEHE!!
I forgot to mention that Book 5 in Erica Chilson’s Blended series came out today FINALLY!! It’s called Warped.
Robyn, that’s a brilliant idea…a book roulette wheel app!! Enter a bunch of book titles you want to read, tap the wheel to spin it, and wait to see where the ball lands. Anyone know how to design an app?
Us this Amy! https://www.classtools.net/random-name-picker/index.php
Us this? Really? And if you really want it to be random, put the list in this shuffler first https://amdz.com/shuffler.php.
Those are awesome, R! Thanks!! 😀
I’m a huge fan of Nikki Sloane and she released a new book yesterday – Torrid. Awesome cover and nothing but 5* reviews so far 🙂
Leslie make a game out of it. Like oldest book on your tbr, or the 4th book (my favorite #) or a cover in someone’s favorite color.
Dear Aaron…
The heroine was different than her others. Slightly younger and not as confident. I liked her though. When she says it’s a book about pen pals she means it. The first half is their pen pal relationship. I like that. I like epistolary novels. However, I did feel like the romance was missing. The same I felt about WoW.
Oh I just did the shuffle for Maryse.
Your welcome.
It said To Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil.
Leslie! !!! Dreaming of You by Kleypas is only 2.99.
I KNOW. BUT HEAR ME OUT.
It’s one of my favorite historical romances. I flove it.
If you hate it you can totally go Thoughtless on it and Kellan Kyle all over Derek Craven.
Pleeeeeaaassseeee.
Pretty please.

I hear ya. I’m sitting with my kid at the orthodontist, all I want is to be in the blankie fort. I have all of the books to read. Don’t these people understand. Adulting is so overrated…
Bev, I will try that Lisa Kleypas book. I have to warn you, I have tried a few HRs and haven’t made it past first chapters. But, I’m going with open mind.
*crosses fingers*
So I just DNF’d. Never Again…nope can’t do it. The blurb is misleading…or maybe I was expecting martial trouble…something…just not flatness.
awwwww and it sounded so good, too. I would have expected marital trouble too. Like her having to look for his paperwork or something and finding something hidden.
Or the “person” he was riding with… or flying with… or something. GAH.
*sobs*
Whoot whoot!
I know I joke but about Fabi crushing me…..but really if it’s not your jam it’s ok. Promise.
Cheryl, I was wondering the same thing. Anyone know? Is Dangerous Rush a sequel or conclusion? Or maybe a part of a trilogy or series?
I’ll try and contact S.C. and find out. 😀
I am having a slump too. I have to read Deadmen Walking by Saturday, but I’m not feeling the urge to read it. I tried other books, all genres, and all of them I stopped at less than 5%. I’m trying re-reading the first Cassie Palmer book, but it’s been meh. Though, I forgot a LOT of details of the first book. My mind is too much on what happened in the last book. I think Wildfire by Ilona Andrews destroyed me.
That said, on Sat. I will be getting a book I have anticipated for a year from the library. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare!
Maryse…it was way too sweet and over the top for me…perfect grammar and all. Extreme politeness and just flat…
Hey guys just wanted to recommend a book I just finished, Endgame by Chloe Walsh. I couldn’t put it down. It has a YA/NA feel, the characters are in High School. Love/Hate story that I know Maryse likes lol. Seemed a little cheesy at times, maybe a little over the top
Heck YES Kelli!!!! Thank you for that recommendation.
It was? That’s one that was on my radar. Maybe that will get me past my slump. That type of Stepbrother is the type I like. No real relations and it doesn’t feel forbidden because they just met, a major jerk, and has to start a new school. *grins* Thanks Kelli!
Lauren, I skimmed some reviews and I still am not sure if Dangerous Rush is a conclusion or book 2 in a trilogy. Anyone know?
Cheryl, I thought it was book 2 of a trilogy…which is why I haven’t started reading yet.
Grey…damn kids and their crooked teeth gettin’ in the way of reading in the blankie fort. 😛
I’m so sad to hear that about Never Again. 🙁 That blurb made it seem right up our tummy-twisting alley. Oh well…at least Kelli’s rec seems promising!
So anyone totally jumping for joy of the Sheehan cover reveal???? OMG WE FINALLY GET PREACHER (who’s dead anyway)! No sarcasm here, none what so ever! I WANT GERRICK DAMMIT
The Pact by Karina Halle is free.
If anyone likes YA/NA supernatural reads, I have really enjoyed The Relentless Series by Karen Lynch. It has a mixture of all my fav things Fae, Vampires, Werewolves, etc. Typically YA/NA isn’t my first go to but I became a fan of YA/NA when I listened to Kresley Cole’s The Arcana Chronicles.
I highly recommend Audible by Amazon. I am an avid listener. I have a long commute to & from work every day and I also listen while I do housework. The matchmaker works perfectly for me, I can listen while I am up moving then switch to reading when I can settle down and relax. LOVE IT!!
Dangerous Rush is the second book to Furious Rush which ended on a slight cliffhanger…..I’ve been waiting book 2 for what seems like forever!!
Too many damn books this month…..I’m drowning in them on my TBR!!!
Started Sugar & Gold today and just as I expected, it sucked me right in and I love, love, love her writing!!!
Ela, Sheehan cover reveal? I gotta look that up! It seems like it’s been forever waiting for that series to continue!
How is everyone this fine Wednesday?
What if we made the rest of it…..fun?? Just cause it’s a slow day and a bit headachey. :/
And I’m feeling new age-ish.
* Compliment someone
* Eat a good piece of chocolate
*stop for a moment out side and take 3 deep breaths
*take a photo of something pretty (not a selfie….Though yes your pretty)
*1 thing your thankful for
How many can you do by the end of the day? Like a scavenger hunt.
Thanks Maryse.
Jean, does that mean the story concludes with Dangerous Rush?
Ok, I am going to start When Life Happened because I’m so curious about what everyone is talking about, BUT good lord I don’t want a repeat of Me Before You ugly cry. Someone PM me on GR’s if this is the case. 😉
Aw bev, I don’t feel like it 🙁
On another fine note, didn’t care for My Roommate’s Girl *see Jean’s review*
Bev, I completed 4 out of the 5 hump day scavenger hunt. 😉
Amy, in all your Marmy-ness, I think you would find “After” interesting. Esp as going into it you already know it’s difficult topic. It’s not at all my typical read, but fascinated me nonetheless.
The Seven Husbands book looks good despite it not being my usual thing. I am a bit nervous though as reviews said they cried..m TJR is typically a tearjerker. Hmmmm
Bev, I forgot to mention, I did start that Lisa Kleypas book. I only read part of first chapter, but I didn’t hate it. So that is progress! I will get back to it after I finish some of my challenge reads I am in middle of.
Ela, right? I really wanted to love it too!
Cheryl, I don’t know if there is a third book after Dangerous Rush. When Life Happened was great though! Great! Go in blind. I felt like it was 2 books in one. The author really could have messed with us and ended at one part and make us wait for the second.
Starting a brand new sci-fi today co-authored by one of my fav authors Neal Stephenson. It’s called The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.
Magic is REAL!!! I’m excited!
It’s Thursday already here so I’m going out on an (early) limb and doing my FLT. No, dammit. The first line on its own is pretty lame. You need the whole first paragraph:
My name is Melisande Stokes and this is my story. I am writing in July 1851 (Common Era, or – let’s face it – Anno Domini) in the guest chamber of a middle-class home in Kensington, London, England. But I am not a native of this place or time. In fact, I am quite fucking desperate to get out of here.
I dare you to read the blurb and tell me you don’t want to read this book! I’ve only read 2% of the book and I’m totally IN!
Um…you don’t have to, Ela. Lol.
It’s slightly silly and not for everyone.
I was having a, hmm, pity party of one? Over nothing significant. At all. And I just had to stop and say, Self your a grown ass woman so get over your self, lol. On a scale of 1 -10, 10 being the events that have cut you off at the knees. Well…um…yeah pity party is -100.
I have a tendency to get too negative, so.
Probably more than you needed to know, lol.
My thanks is my job. I like it. I work in a creative and positive environment. I have benefits and sick leave and PTO. It supplies me with new books and coffee (hopefully new, cause eww.)
*huggles bev and runs* I don’t know if I’m crazy or what but I just asked work if I can do another Masters…YES I SAID ANOTHER, I already have a MBA in finance and accounting but want a MS in Taxation….SO EXCITING
That is amazing Ela and freaking impressive.
A Masters in of itself but another one?
Math scares me.
Speaking of coffee just went in to get one for commute home and somebody left a card to pay for others drinks.
* Compliment someone – done
* Eat a good piece of chocolate – Nope. Chocolate is saved for NEED. No sweets otherwise except sugar free Werthers for when the sweet urge hits. Kills it every time.
*stop for a moment out side and take 3 deep breaths – done
*take a photo of something pretty (not a selfie….Though yes your pretty) – lol Done
*1 thing your thankful for – the pool. I can exercise without feeling like I am.
Leslie, I will take that as a positive. 1 chapter down.
You guys make me laugh.
I complimented someone’s idea.
Bought chocolate, not quality, but chocolate. (Tessa I admire the will power)
3 deep breaths with a breeze gently blowing.
No photo yet, but have a yellow rose edged with pink just blooming open. When I get home.
My thanks already said.
You all are money.
Thanks bev! My company got super strict on paying for school and I really hope my manager can pull rainbows out of unicorns asses! They mostly already paid for my MBA! I lurve math but am not as quick as others, I like to analyze.
Bev, it’s either have the will power or go nuts. So literally I just kill the need. We won’t talk about little dude’s birthday party cake… (But it was REALLY GOOD).
That’s awesome Ela. I love that they pay for you all to go to school. Hopefully they’ll agree to Taxation. 🙂
Tessa, key wordS USED TO, now they’re very strict and I don’t want a CPA
Tessa, bday cake never counts.
Ela, Analyze like Sherlock.
Oh, and I won a book. The new Christina Lauren one. So I got free coffee and a book today. Woo hoo.
That’s awesome! Woot!
I have to post this cause #6 under the first section.
Plus, I’m listening to Amy Poehler ‘ s Yes, Please and it is wonderful. Patrick Stewart occasionally drops in.

FLT (IF THIS WORKS):
I think you might enjoy this audio clip from Audible: https://a.co/0kUtPYU
Yes Please by Amy Poehler.
That’s awesome bev!
FLT
“The man bolted upright from sleep.” Emma Scott Sugar & Gold
FLT – “One hundred and twenty days since they pulled my body from the river.” Beyond by Catina Haverlock and Angela Larkin
Overall great book but I just needed a little more…
Same first line as Ela!!
Maryse! Suanne’s giving away The Man I Love for FREE on bookfunnel. Just saw it on her FB page. https://dl.bookfunnel.com/7gogqw8l6u
Ooooh awesome!!! I’m going to add it to tomorrow’s Friday Finds list too if it’s still up!! 😀
Until June 30th!
Okay you guys, I have the answer for the latest S.C. Stephens release. It’s a trilogy.
I posted it as a reader question today here: https://www.maryse.net/reader-questions/reader-question-is-dangerous-rush-by-s-c-stephens-the-sequelconclusion-or-is-there-a-book-three.html
FLT
“The stage wing was thick with shadows.” ~ Collide – The Secret Life of Trystan Scott
My June challenge/2013 click read. Only 20% in but not sure if I will stick with it. I’m really not enjoying one chapter in her POV then the next chapter in his POV but replaying the last part of the previous chapter, including dialogue. There’s no mystery, no pining, no longing, no not knowing. 😕
FLT- (Prelude) Baltimore, Maryland AUGUST 3, 1939 “My story begins on a sweltering August night, in a place I will never set eyes upon.”
(Chapter 1) Avery Stafford AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA, PRESENT DAY “I take a breath, scoot to the edge of the seat, and straighten my jacket as the limo rolls to a stop on the boiling-hot asphalt.”- Before We Were Yours: A Novel by Lisa Wingate
Holy moly Tasha, that one sounds HEAVY. Click!
“The smallest room belonged to the biggest loser.” When Life Happened by Jewel E. Ann.
Waiting for the wtf moment. :>
FLT:
“Rourke! Are you listening to me?”
Endgame by Chloe Welsh
This is good, but I so wish it was in her POV only. It could be so much more tense.
I need a “ten second review” of the week from Bev! LOL. I was out of town and I am now back and would love to know what I missed. That great book everyone is reading? Or peanut tossing?
FLT: “Wings. I have wings.” – A Strange Hymn (The Bargainer Book Two). By Laura Thalassa. WINGS PEOPLE!! I have wings! And Fae. Hot hulking King-type Fae. Swoon…
Yes! Wings! I liked the second even more than the first. The second was a trip.
My mind is blank. It’s been super quiet on here. I can try, but no promises it won’t be lame. I honestly think you and Amy are amazing at it.
My mind is mush right now lol. It should totally be Friday.
Yeah, ok, I got nothing. Nothing has really happened.
When Life Happened
Amy payed someone to cut her eyebrows off.
It scared Jean.
Maryse beat up Keri Arthur at RT.
I got scared.
I retired Simon.
But To Tell The Truth want to Shame Maryse (that fierce Female of the Species) into another book
Tasha saw Jean and I were scared and called them Bishes.
Ela is not scared of the Bishes, she just wants a new Master.
LMAO bev!!!!!!
Ok, I’m stuck on the “Amy paid someone to cut her eyebrows off” ??!!
2 first lines today. I’m proofing one as a favor and the other is my Pick-For-Me read.
I open the car door, begging entrance into a world of speed and carelessness. ~ Reckless Abandon by Jeannine Colette.
I race down the Grand Couloir, Courchevel, France. ~ Rush by Emma Scott
Today has sucked… But I have 3 day weekend! What is everyone else up to?
Cheryl, yes. She called it “microblading”.
Ahahahaha!! That was hilarious, Bev.
It is pretty heavy so far, Amy. Great writing, it’s sucked me right in. It’s going between past and present and there’s mystery to the present. But the past is heart wrenching so far and written so well. I like the the way the people on the river talk, their ‘accents’. I’m only a quarter of the way in, so we’ll see. I’m going on vacation in a couple days for a week so I’m hoping to get much of it read on the way down. Until then, still too busy to read a whole lot at a time. I hate reading in snippets, especially when I’m really into a story.
Just finished one summer sport and started another, for a little while they ran together. On top of that we’ve had bible school vacation, scouts and scout camp coming up, library summer reading program, sleepovers, grad parties and very little downtime. Looking forward to cleaning the house (the last time was approx. May something, possibbly April) and packing over the next 48hrs, whoo! <-sarcasm
LOL!!!! bev, you’re the bee’s knees. Seriously. The awesomest.
Tasha…I have it sitting in my library now. And I really don’t see how you don’t have time to read. I mean, it’s not like you have a whole lot going on. 😛 You’re goings-on made me tired just reading ’em…
Tasha, hope you are traveling somewhere fun.
Oh, and Cheryl…the microblading is a way of tattooing my eyebrows using little slices in the skin (although bev’s description is pretty funny) and man, it hurts like b!tch.
And my eyebrows are in the scanning/flaking/itching stage so not real cute, but they will look fantastic when all healed up.
Amy, friend of mine had that done and her eyebrows look awesome…now. 😉
