WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!! THIS ONE JUST WENT LIVE!!! Super-bargain priced and I love this title… OH MY!!!!!!!!! GOOODNESSSSSS!!!!! P.S. I Hate You This is MY blurb-jolt of the day. MINE!!!!!!!!! :D !!! ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔

“…Eight months ago, you were just a soldier about to be deployed and I was just a waitress, sneaking you a free pancake and hoping you wouldn’t notice that my gaze was lingering a little too long.

But you did notice.

We spent one life-changing week together before you left, and we said goodbye on day eight, exchanging addresses at the last minute.

I saved every letter you wrote me, your words quickly becoming my religion.

But you went radio silent on me months ago, and then you had the audacity to walk into my diner yesterday and act like you’d never seen me in your life.

To think … I almost loved you and your beautifully complicated soul…”

HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! And yet another happy day to me (and many of us) since I LOVE that author to the left, and her latest just went live. Two days in a row… two of my absolute favorites have new releases.

Amy: I’m so giddy over KMLYMI that I have to post it here as well… Yep, I’m falling in platonic love with Gwen. She reminds me of a Tarryn Fisher-type h. She’s broken and imperfect. She’s selfish and yet apologetic. I’ve found my booknip and I am going to enjoy every moment of playing with it.“When I tell you I am the villain, I am not being cute. I don’t want to be cute. I just want to be honest about all of this.” <——— That about sums up the vibe right there.

Nay: Ooh, Amy, I’m looking forward to seeing what you think about KMLYMI–it’s supposed to be super angsty! Since it’s pretty short, I was going to try to fit it in this week IF it’s good and angsty.

  • My Torin by K. Webster <— WE MUST GO IN BLIND!!! And now I wanna read it SO bad ’cause of Jean’s freak-out over it!! :P

Jean: …One of my favs for the year! A little bit dark, a little bit marmy, a little bit mind f*&k…… yes, it’s that good and it made my heart soar! Check out my review on GR…..BUT you must go in blind. Don’t read any other reviews or spoilers! Many here loved it! And it’s K.Webster….. you never know what you’re going to get. Did you read Whispers and Roars by her? It was unforgettable! I love an author who isn’t afraid to step out of the box!

  • Rise of the Iliri by Auryn Hadley <— ADDICTIVE ALERT!!! Angela found it for us and calls it a hidden gem!
Angela: Ok girl!!! I have the best new paranormal series, the best thing is there’s multiple books published and it won’t leave you hanging!!! Seriously , easily 1000 pages of yummy, addicting book crack!!!  Auryn Hadley is an amazing hidden gem. All of her books I literally couldn’t put down until I devoured them all!!! I started with The Rise of the Iliri, then read Everything I could find from her. This author is the next big thing!!!
  • Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey <— TESSA BAILEY’S LATEST went live yesterday (I’m reading it as we speak!!) and we have feedback ’cause Carla LOVED it!

Carla: I just read two of the best books I’ve read all year. And both were ARCS that come out next week. I was in a major reading slump for the last 6 month and had DNFed everything.

Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey and Kiss Me Back by Sidney Halston. Both were so good! So. Good. Kiss Me Back had a huge swoony “thing” that I won’t tell you but…my heart! Sidney is back. And Tessa never went away.
Now, I can read again. My slump is over ladies!

  • The Swedish Prince by Karina Halle <— KARINA HALLE’S LATEST RELEASE & now we have feedback ’cause Clara LOVED it (and declares it all short and sweet-like). ;)
Clara: I’ve read it. It’s fabulous, I didn’t want it to end.

Morning. It’s raining here and still dark out…my favorite! :)

Leslie M March 27, 2018 at 6:43 AM

Tasha, how much longer ’til our blog baby arrives?

Lisa Aiello March 27, 2018 at 6:45 AM

Good morning, all! Maryse – My Torin is a must read for you. It has you written all over it, and I can’t believe you have not read it yet. I also found this angsty gem on Bookreads yesterday. I’m not sure if it ever made your list, but it sound so painfully beautiful: Don’t Be Afraid by CA Harms. Here’s the blurb, and it hurts so good:

Have you ever looked at someone and just knew,
knew that they were put in your life for a reason?
The one person that would be not only your best friend,
but would be your absolute everything?
That’s how I felt the first time I saw him.

That one day when a few little words changed our entire lives forever…

Don’t be Afraid, he said.
Life can change so quickly.
One moment you can be smiling and feeling as if you’re walking on clouds and the next, everything you love, everything you treasure crumbles at your feet.

I told him to fight, I told him I needed him.
We needed him.
But there are just some fights that can’t be won…

He was my angel then, and he’s still my angel now.
In a way, I believe he’s still looking out for us, giving us a future.
Sometimes it’s as if I can still feel his presence,
guiding us and keeping us safe.

So, I won’t be Afraid.
I’ll live. I’ll fight.
It’s what he would have wanted.

I’ll do it for him…

Leslie M March 27, 2018 at 7:00 AM

Oh Lisa, that sounds heart-wrenching!!

Nay March 27, 2018 at 7:16 AM

Good morning!

Ooh, that’s sounds great, Lisa!

re: My Torin–I mentioned the other day on GR that I was surprised you didn’t read My Torin the day it came out, Maryse. It’s a hauntingly, heartbreakingly beautiful, emotional romance, and I agree with Lisa and Jean–you need to read it!.

Tasha J March 27, 2018 at 7:24 AM

7 1/2 week’s left Leslie! I am hoping it’s a little sooner though, I’m getting anxious. My others were pretty well right on, so I’m hoping I at least get 1 a little earlier. May’s calendar is so full, especially at that time.

Maryse March 27, 2018 at 7:53 AM

I can’t wait, Tasha!!!! Our blog-baby will be here!!!

Maryse March 27, 2018 at 7:55 AM

I can’t believe I haven’t yet either, since I LOVE K. Webster. I appreciate you guys reminding me. I’m one-clicking it now. :D

Leslie M March 27, 2018 at 8:06 AM

Hang in there Tasha! Being pregnant is tough, especially the last stretch.

I got caught up on Scandal and I have to say, I am not thrilled w/final season. (I loved it before that. I adore Huck.) Only a few episodes left, so *fingers crossed* it gets better.

Lisa M March 27, 2018 at 8:31 AM

I’m one clicking too!!! I have read so many of K Webster’s books!!! Savage Prince gave me a book hangover. A must read!! So hot!!!! Has a cliffy but the next book comes out in April so it’s ok!!!
Kiss me Back, one clicked on that too!! Read the 1st two books on the weekend!! So good.
Lisa, I may have to one click that one too. The blurb sounds so good!!!!

Nay March 27, 2018 at 9:32 AM

Leslie–I agree. I don’t even recognize many of the characters anymore, and I hate the way they’ve sidelined Fitz. There have been a couple of episodes with Quinn that have been awesome though.

Tessa March 27, 2018 at 9:57 AM

Tasha, that reminds me of telling my siblings and their kids (some are my age) to make sure not to have babies in September. It’s too busy. They never listen, of course. :) Besides, you don’t want it too early. You want a nice, healthy baby. Oh, and my niece is getting married next month. Her fiance was, of course, born in Sept.

I finished Thief by A. Zaverelli. Soooo good. Tons of angst and issues, but the series has to be read in order or else you get spoilers since the books are sometimes at the same moment. Think Kresley Cole’s Immortal After Dark series as far as timeline. Still, insanely good.

Leslie M March 27, 2018 at 10:51 AM

Nay, I LOVE Quinn & Charlie!! Can’t stand Cyrus or Olivia’s parents. Mellie is growing on me. I always love Fitz and Jake. Abbey makes me crazy and I want to throat punch Olivia this season.

Nay March 27, 2018 at 11:17 AM

I like Mellie better this season than I ever have! And I feel about the same as you about them all, except I’ve been back and forth about Jake, but I guess he has a reason to be messed up.

Tessa–Funny that you mention it because early this morning, I was looking at the Boston Underworld series, and when I saw how those of you who’ve read ‘Crow’ rated it, I moved it into my ‘next’ folder.

Robyn March 27, 2018 at 11:50 AM

Oooooooo…….I love me some Scandal too! I’m absolutely in love with Jake, so hands off Girls! I fell in love with him along time ago when he was Noel Crane on Felicity. Have you watched Felicity? You have to binge watch Felicity, it was so good! One of my favorite series. I know in my heart of romantic hearts that Fitz and Olivia will end up in Vermont making jam at the end of the series. It HAS to be that way. But I am loving the journey getting there!

I finally caved for My Torin. This time around something clicked and it sounded good.

I also clicked Rise of the Iliri. It’s PNR and reverse harem. I’m on that!

Last Breath also caught my eye. All three characters look like they do such bad things and the men already have a relationship and then add the girl into the mix! Yep! One clicked.

Tessa March 27, 2018 at 2:16 PM

Nay, they are seriously good. It’s really gritty and angst-filled, but I love reading them. There is no apologizing for being who they are. However, GRITTY and some major dark spots in each book (because, you know, mafia).

Amy March 27, 2018 at 2:47 PM

Lisa, that sounds SO good! Between KMLYMI, My Torin, and that one, I have some emotional reading to look forward to!! :D

Nay March 27, 2018 at 4:22 PM

I lurve gritty, so I’m on it!

Grey March 27, 2018 at 5:55 PM

Scandal talk… *move over* I’m here for it!

I HATE Jake… like loathe his very existence. Gah! I wouldn’t piss on him if he were on fire. I am a true Olitz to the end. I agree, Leslie, this season has been rather hard to stomach in a lot of ways. I keep my white hat and wine bottle close by and try to remember the epicness of previous seasons when I get disillusioned.

MichelleS March 27, 2018 at 7:11 PM

I read My Torin in January. It was definitely a non -traditional story. Since I work with young men on the Autism Spectrum every day, I think I am Uber critical of characters described as “autistic”, you know? I did finish it. ;-)

Maryse March 27, 2018 at 7:21 PM

The “Real Techniques” makeup brushes make ALL the difference. I MEAN ALL.

I have been imitating these girls that I love on Youtube (bought the EXACT makeup palettes and do exactly as they do) and it’s been nice… but never amazing. Then I finally just got the brushes my favorite is using, and OMG I AM GLOWING from eyes, to cheeks!!!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. The brushes I have are nice, soft, and I have ALL the various blenders, and whatever else. I have at least 25 various makeup brushes (many are the same, but from different manufacturers).

I just bought THIS ONE 3-piece kit, and I can do my entire makeup with it and LOOK like what I’ve been trying to “look” like.

HAPPPPPPPY!!!!! :D !!!!!

Cheryl March 27, 2018 at 8:25 PM

That sounds amazing Maryse. What set did you buy?

Amy March 27, 2018 at 8:55 PM

I’m always on the lookout for good brushes, and now I want to snatch these up based on your reaction. I jumped on Google as soon as I read your post, and lookie what I found:

It says one left… *rubs hands together*

Maryse March 27, 2018 at 9:16 PM

Amy & Cheryl!!

This is the one I got:

I’m so hooked that I just went back and bought 3 more brushes (all “add-on” items so SUPER-CHEAP)!!

I’m getting rid of ALL my brushes and just using these. I’ll add more as I find new needs. ;) Or new makeup-guru recommendations. LOL!!!

Maryse March 27, 2018 at 9:19 PM

And these are my “add-on” super-cheap “Real Techniques” brushes I just added onto my order with my dog food:

These things are SO affordable. Who knew??!

LOOK at the reviews!!!! Just look at ‘em. HOLY. MOLY. My makeup world is complete.

Amy March 27, 2018 at 10:36 PM

Oh man…oh MAN!!! I can’t believe how inexpensive those brushes are. And the prices are even better on Amazon than on And with your excitement there’s no way I can resist buying some. YAY for two-day shipping!!

Melinda March 28, 2018 at 12:13 AM

I looved My Torin. Fantastic book.

Lisa’s that’s an instant 1 click for me.

But I have to tell you my daughter number 3 has her formal in 2 days so I bought a dress online that said it would take 4- 10 days to arrive. I ordered it on the 3rd of March for the 29th of
March coming from the USA. So I checked the tracking and it said it hadn’t left the USA as yet. We had a back up plan another dress we found in a shop not as nice but passable so we decided we prob were not going to receive the dress in time. So we go to the shop and it’s gone into voluntary liquidation then I start to panic. 2 days prior to the formal and no dress. Find the same shop 11/2 hours away, drive all the way there buy an ok dress for $275.00 come home and 1 hour later the doorbell rings and the dress has arrived. Can’t take back the other dress. Who wants to buy a formal dress…………. But we have now 2 dresses but the one I ordered online is just perfect. So there was my stress day for yesterday.tomorrow is the formal.

Jan March 28, 2018 at 1:27 AM

*passes chocolate martini to Melinda* There you go. As if a daughter’s formal weren’t stressful enough in itself……….. Hope you all have a lovely night when you get there.

Leslie M March 28, 2018 at 6:42 AM

Maryse, I cannot believe how cheap those brushes are!! I don’t wear eye makeup but am obsessed with foundation/powder/blush brushes. I am going to give them a try. Yay! I love a bargain.

R. Renee March 28, 2018 at 9:15 AM

Thanks Maryse! I wear makeup about once a month, but I was sorely in need of new brushes!

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 9:37 AM

I have so many brushes (most from my Ipsy subscription) but these just blend perfectly. I’m so happy!!

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 9:39 AM

I know Leslie!! The price can’t be beat especially for how good they are. I was amazed when my favorite makeup blogger mentioned and was using one of her favorite brushes for her eyeshadow… saying it just really almost seems to melt the makeup into a perfect blend, and when I looked it up, it was part of a 3 brush kit (with a case!) and it was CHEAP. MINE!!! :D I only used this kit today.

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 9:40 AM

OHHHH NOOOOO Melinda!!!!!!!!

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 9:43 AM

Amy!! I can’t wait to get my other ones (small eyeshadow brushes for detail…) *wiggles*

bev March 28, 2018 at 10:55 AM

I love how excited you all are getting. It is nice to have these everyday pleasures. Mine new one is skincare products.
That new blurb up there now has this in my head.

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 11:13 AM

bev!! I love skin care products. My skin is as important to me as my makeup routine. I’m an avid moisturizer-er… LOL!

One of my favorite lines right now (which I DID learn of from Ipsy, and ended up continuing to buy them) is the “Acure” line of products (for face wash and exfoliating). I love the ingredients (very natural) and the smell is nice. I’ve never broken out, never had reactions… < – this is in my shopping cart right now ’cause I’m almost out. It washes of all my makeup (even on my eyes – although I don’t use anything waterproof).

For moisturizer I just use Olay 7 Effects for sensitive skin (no perfume!!). :)

Lisa M March 28, 2018 at 11:42 AM

I will be ordering brushes today. They all looking amazing & I need some new ones!! Well priced!!
Tessa, I will reading Thief by A Zavarelli!! Love that series.
I used to watch Scandal even though Jake is a bad guy he is still nice to look at. I hardly watch any tv anymore since reading took over all my spare time.

Grey March 28, 2018 at 1:06 PM

Alright. Go and check out the new cover of Entertainment Weekly… Dawson’s Creek is featured! Tell me I’m not the only one excited by this!

bev March 28, 2018 at 1:06 PM

I have used a couple of their products and was impressed. The body lotion, well I doubt it firmed anything, but loved the smell.

I’m trying to carefully find what works for my skin not just what doesn’t make it react negatively.
I just ordered One Love Organics vitamin C serum to try. My skin burns very easily and I have not been the best at protecting it. I hope to stop some of the damage before it shows up as I near another milestone.

I have very oily easily congested skin but my new favorite thing to do is the 7 skin method though not always all 7. I’m surprised but I do notice my skin feels fresher and maybe plumper. Especially those two vertical lines between my brows. They won’t ever be gone, I make that expression, but I notice a difference. This:

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 2:38 PM

bev can we get it on Amazon?

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 2:45 PM

I’m not a foundation user (never have been) and even my concealer is minimal and just a touch beneath my eyes, but I’ve noticed since i’ve been using the bare minerals powder foundation… just a light touch (it’s a very sheer powder so I don’t want a powder face since I’ve never gotten the hang of foundation), and I brush it all over my face with my Kabuki brush (in circles), my pores have gotten much smaller, no random pimples, and not clogged at all.

I KNOW it’s this stuff ’cause it has zinc in it, and zinc does wonders for my skin.

How I know that? ‘Cause when I had a MAC concealer in a tiny MAC pot, it had zinc. Whenever i’d use it to cover a pimple, the pimple would dry up and heal almost over night… flake off without a booboo.

Any other concealer I use doesn’t do that… even back then, so I’d always reach for my Mac pot to cover them, even thought it was a tad oilier…

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 2:47 PM

The reason I reach for the Bare Minerals powder foundation now is because I love how it evens out my skin… a light fresh feel. And now since I think after month of using it, it’s working wonders on my skin, I will continue. :D

Leslie M March 28, 2018 at 3:05 PM

Grey, just to clarify…I love Jake’s character (he is hot and a bad-a$$) but I don’t want Olivia to end up with him. If series doesnt end with Vermont & jam making, I am going to very angry.

Tasha J March 28, 2018 at 3:38 PM

I use bare minerals too! The 1-2 times a year I actually do make up, lol. But, I used to use it religiously back when I took the time to do make up. I like skin products more and have always needed to try diff. things Bc my skin sucks, except during pregnancy. Lol So, I use Olay gentle clean and moisturize w/ Olay complete…Neutrogena naturals lore scrub once or twice a week while pregnant. After, I’m going back to the Doterra line. This set is my favorite, the moisturizer is amazing. And it smells woodsy, which is different. But, since I like to try new stuff too, their HD clear line is pretty awesome too, though I still like the other moisturizer, the spot treatment stuff with it is my fav. in that set…and I tried the Verage right before I got pregnant. The only thing I love outta that is the toner, which a lot of people use to set make up as well.

bev March 28, 2018 at 4:01 PM

The Vitamin C serum? It looks like it was but not anymore. I ordered from Detox Market. Would of ordered from the OLO site itself but was contemplating another purchase. I forget I like to add everything to the cart then go back and delete it.

Tasha my skin is sucks too.
Though behaving well right now.

AM is cleanse, toner, sunscreen.
PM is double cleanse, toner, serum, ampoule.

bev March 28, 2018 at 4:05 PM

For breakouts I just bought my second pack of these. Not an overnight miracle worker for me but did seem to cut the time down. I wore them at night.

One of the benefits of aging should be not having to worry about this.

Tasha J March 28, 2018 at 4:10 PM

That’s quite a routine Bev! It probably doesn’t help that I don’t wash my face enough…I just don’t like to take the time and the mess when you splash your face with water is annoying, so I wash when I shower. Which is no more than every 3 days…usually. Lol Sometimes every day, sometimes every other.

Cheryl March 28, 2018 at 4:48 PM

Maryse, I have an Amazon gift card, so Yeh I’m ordering those brushes!!

Funny thing about moisturizer, I went to the dermatologist and she has me not using any moisturizer for 14 weeks. I know I am older than you but she said as you age your production of collagen slows down and if you are slathering your skin with moisturizer you’re telling your skin to stop making collagen. Have to say my skin does not feel tight and dry like I thought it would. ( No snickering Amy, I know I said tight and dry!!) My skin actually feels better and “plumper.” I have also been using Obagi skin care products. Surprisingly the dermatologist only recommended using a few of the products. Less really is more.

Cheryl March 28, 2018 at 4:49 PM

I also started using Tom Ford stick foundation. You can go very sheer or heavier for more full coverage. Gives a dewy, youthful finish.

bev March 28, 2018 at 5:06 PM

I love that that seems like alot to you Tasha.

Tasha J March 28, 2018 at 5:36 PM

Lol, blow drying my hair is a lot. I promise I don’t look like a yucky slob though!

Amy March 28, 2018 at 6:02 PM

Hearing about all of your minimal (or nonexistent) makeup applications makes me feel like I’m high maintenance, LOL!

I haven’t had much reading time but I am STILL loving Kiss Me Like You Mean It. At first I was cringing and thinking, “Don’t hurt him!” And now all I can think is “Freaking hurt his stupid a$$!!!”

bev March 28, 2018 at 6:28 PM

I air dry my hair every morning. Well, plop then air dry. I have to condition and comb it every morning.

Come on Amy. Hit us with your routine.

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 6:38 PM

TASHA OMG I LOVE ANYTHING WOODSY. That alone makes me want to try this.

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 6:42 PM

Oh I bet that Tom Ford stick foundation is heavenly. I love anything that makes my skin dewy and rosy (well… that would be a touch of blush). Amy introduced me to the best MAC blush ever. It’s SUPER pink… like almost obnoxiously pink, LIKE HOT MEDIUM-DARK PINK (not bronze at all) but on me? A few light circle strokes on my apples and it’s just a rosy glow and I’m addicted to it.

IT makes me look healthy and happy. All my eyes, lips, skin all done, and until I have that blush on, I look faded and pale… a light sweep and BOOM!!! HAPPY & HEALTHY! LOL!

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 6:44 PM

Ooooh AMY!!!!

—-> “…all I can think is “Freaking hurt his stupid a$$!!!”

OH MY. THIS must be MINE!!!

Tessa March 28, 2018 at 7:06 PM

lol Amy!

My regimen is simple. I wash my face in the morning and night. I only use toner if I eat something oily or mayo (which is why I avoid those things). I NEVER put lotion on my face. Also, rather than something fancy, just clean and clear.

However, I almost NEVER put make-up on. Not because I don’t need it, but because I don’t want to bother. The exception is things like EOS to keep my lips moist or a stain like baby lips because my lips get super chapped if I don’t. That’s it. I’m boring as far as makeup goes. However, rarely pimples so I’m happy. When I do, it’s usually after eating something like potato salad with mayo. :) SOOOO worth it.

Cheryl March 28, 2018 at 7:16 PM

Maryse, I just bought this TF blush stick. It is bright- just a couple dabs and rub in. The other end has a highlighter. Brightens and gives a “summer” touch of color.

Cheryl March 28, 2018 at 7:21 PM
Cheryl March 28, 2018 at 7:26 PM

Maryse, the add-on brush- what is a setting brush used for?

bev March 28, 2018 at 7:27 PM

I had to look up the Obagi. Impressive before and afters.

bev March 28, 2018 at 7:28 PM

Tessa, no sunscreen?

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 7:46 PM

Cheryl about the setting brush…

*shrugs* :P

Seriously I have no clue, but I just invent my own uses by size of the brush, and fluffy/tight-fluffiness.

I think… it’s something to do with foundation? AT the end…? I’ll probably use it to blend-extra so it lightens somewhat if I find my application a bit dark…

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 7:50 PM

bev… I know this question is for Tessa but I needed to jump in….

I RARELY ever use sunscreen because I NEVER go in the sun. At least not for more than 15 minutes full-blast.

IF I will be in the sun (like at the beach, or at a picnic or outdoor event -which is rare because the sun hurts – THEN I will use sunscreen and I will bring the whole time and SHOWER SO HARD when I get home to get that film off.

I don’t even get daily moisturizer with sunscreen… because I hate the feel no matter what.

It’s SO necessary, but since i hate the feel so much, I just avoid the sun altogether. Mind you… a few minutes of full sun every few days I enjoy because of the vitamins D. But not enough to get any real color on my skin.

bev March 28, 2018 at 7:56 PM

Is it the big fluffy one to put the setting powder over everything? Do people use a mist now instead?

Cheryl March 28, 2018 at 8:09 PM

I use the Obagi sunscreen. I had skin cancer on my forehead and the doctor said I should wear it every day, year round. Even riding in the car you are exposed to the sun. It is comparable to the feel of a lightweight moisturizer.

Tessa March 28, 2018 at 8:19 PM

Occasionally. I really should but I usually fail at that too. lol

Tessa March 28, 2018 at 8:21 PM

Right now, I have run out. I just checked. I need to get the cheaper one, because I was using the water one, Blue Lizard, and that stuff is expensive for days I don’t play in the water.

Leslie M March 28, 2018 at 8:32 PM

I am with Maryse in that the feel of sunscreen bothers me. Yuck! But, my Bare Minerals powder foundation has spf 15 and is not icky at all. So at least I am getting some protection.

Maryse March 28, 2018 at 9:07 PM

Leslie!!! That SPF15 is my beloved zinc in there, I think!! :D

Amy March 29, 2018 at 9:58 AM

Alright, you asked for it bev…my daily routine:

- wash face
- toner
- moisturizer (although I have some questions for you, Cheryl…I want plump skin again!!)
- oil control lotion
- roller concealer around eyes
- primer
- foundation
- liquid highlighter for ruddy spots
- setting powder
- brow powder
- eyeshadow primer
- curl lashes
- eyeshadow (usually 2-3 shades)
- waterline liner
- gel liner on top lid
- mascara
- blush/contour
- lip gloss/lipstick

Amy March 29, 2018 at 10:17 AM

Maryse…the MAC blush from the Nutcracker collection? It IS gorgeous. And like you said, it’s obnoxious looking in the container but just a light dusting gives you a lovely glow. ;)

And YES!! You are going to want to read KMLYMI. I’m so p!ssed at Conner right now and WANT her to hurt him, the stupid a$$hat. That’ll probably change though at the rate this book is going. GAH, she is a mess but I want to hug her…after I shake her.

bev March 29, 2018 at 12:21 PM
Nay March 29, 2018 at 1:11 PM

I’m loving reading all the beauty info! Y’all are touching on 2 things that are huge in my life right now: 1) the need to adjust my makeup regimen to fit my age (I’m starting to wear makeup more often after years of wearing relatively none, and my face isn’t what it used to be. UGH!); and 2) the major importance for me to use a really good sunscreen every time I’m outside because of my suppressed immunity.

I’m wondering–do any of you have a good hat you wear to the beach or going out and about? I have to cover my scalp as well and don’t love wearing baseball caps all the time–too sweaty and are awful for hat-head. Sometimes I wear one of hubby’s do-rags from his biker days, but I want something a bit more fashionable (yet casual) sometimes. I’m looking for something softer–not like a fedora or cowboy hat.

Tasha J March 29, 2018 at 2:01 PM

I’m watching The Greatest Showman, have any of you seen it? It’s really good!

Maryse March 29, 2018 at 2:03 PM

YES Amy. THAT ONE. My eyes bugged out when I saw that rich deep bright pink, but it suits me so well, and I can’t go a day without it.

Amy March 29, 2018 at 2:37 PM

Maryse…it was a hidden gem. ;)

bev…I didn’t really try any beauty products when we were there (I did, however, regularly indulge in the other shops and the food *snort*) but I would totally order that and try it. I’m saving it to wish list right now.

Amy March 29, 2018 at 2:39 PM

Nay, we haven’t had a whole lot of makeup chats lately around here but when we DO get to talking about it, we REALLY talk about it. ;)

bev March 29, 2018 at 3:16 PM

I love that someone always remembers FLT.
I am tempted to buy it like I said just because of price point and the ratings but have been buying a bit too much the past few days.
Though it would be interesting to see how we each like it if we do. Like those brushes you all bought, just to see how you all like them.

Just to touch lightly this has been a very hard week. It has been a nice reprieve, when mind and heart needed it, to pop in here along with too much shopping and marathoning Reply 1997.
Any way I am reminded again that I found this little nook.

Nay March 29, 2018 at 3:43 PM

I typed up an FLT after my post above (because I have a GOOD one!) but forgot to hit ‘submit’.

Sounds like Q. lol

Tessa March 29, 2018 at 4:18 PM

I LOVE my FLT because it makes no sense until you read the next paragraph. I’ll even give you the first six sentences!

Aw bev, I’m sorry. :( You know I’d hug you if I could but I’m respectin’ your boundaries. ;) Wanna chat about it?

Cheryl March 29, 2018 at 6:48 PM

So tired. Visited two college campuses with my daughter today. Tomorrow we go prom dress shopping. Next week is our spring break so we have several more college visits planned. Going to need time off from work when this is over!!

Aw Bev, *air hugs*

Cheryl March 29, 2018 at 7:34 PM

I did notice they had the Real Techniques brushes at Target. Maryse’s set was the same price as on Amazon.

bev March 29, 2018 at 8:45 PM

Now I hope I didn’t sound like one of those cryptic people on FB.
Just glad I found this little tribe. Even if I hate when members disappear.
Seriously, come give a formal goodbye.
Just I’ve enjoyed my time but I have real friends now ……or I stopped reading books to raise chickens……or I am joining a cult and they don’t have wifi……something.

Cheryl, prom dresses and campus tours sounds fun if tiring.
Wouldn’t that be funny if she chose the same dress as Melinda’s daughter?

Amy March 29, 2018 at 8:54 PM

Nope bev, you don’t sound like a cryptic person on FB. ;) I get it. Sometimes we go through a rough patch and either can’t or would rather not put it into words.

“…I have real friends now.” <—— LOL!!! I totally thought you were talking about yourself at first and I was all, “NOOOOO!! You can’t leave us!”

Amy March 29, 2018 at 8:55 PM

Oh Cheryl, first your boy goes away to college and now your girl is going to? How bittersweet. :(

Maryse March 29, 2018 at 9:21 PM

YES Cheryl!! Target has them too… I just received the three extra brushes I ordered and I’m thrilled. And now I bought this from Real Techniques for my brushes (it CLINGS to the mirror, and can be dishwashered and can be removed and placed over and over again without losing it’s “cling”).

And if you place a washed brush upside down in the crevices between the cups, it’s held there to air dry! < --- Target has this one on super-sale even cheaper

and they have a smaller one, too:

Here’s the video that convinced me:

*hugs Cheryl for comfort and hands her Manny*

bev March 29, 2018 at 9:49 PM

I just realized Maryse is feeling about this:

What I felt for this:

Giddy. Swoony. Looking up all the extra videos and reviews just to get that little bit more. Wanting others to fall in love too.

Basically feeling like this if you substitute Brushes or Healer for Min Min.

Tasha J March 30, 2018 at 8:03 AM

So, all I really knew about Barnum was the animal crackers :P . And then I watched this movie and saw the name and thought, oh, animal crackers!! Lol There was some stuff that seemed sketchy, like he wasn’t a great person, but the tunes!! I loved the tunes. They’re still stuck in my head today and I downloaded to only free one to amazon music this morning. It was kinda a feel good movie, made me feel all energized (on the inside). And then I researched the real guy after, and he was horrible. But, the movie’s awesome!! Lol

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 8:55 AM

Tasha I’m ONLY hearing amazing things about that movie. I don’t do movie theaters, so as soon as I can rent it on Vudu or Amazon, I’m in!

R. Renee March 30, 2018 at 8:56 AM

I just did something I never do and jumped ahead to the epilogue of part 2 of the Kandi Steiner duet, and now I have a book hangover for a book I’m not even going to read. Life is so unfair.

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 8:57 AM

LOL bev… you have me down perfectly. I am in a “beauty products” mode BIG time. Using colors I never would have used before and loving them. Realizing tools are as important as the colors, and… well. I also bought those “L’ange” curling irons that are clogging on my Facebook feed with review videos and how-to videos. Maybe it’s a mid-life crisis?

Ahhhh who cares. It’s fun!!!! :P

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 8:58 AM

P.S. I haven’t used the curling irons yet because I just got them yesterday. But apparently I was so excited to get them, that I left my house keys in the mailbox lock all night… just hanging there while I ran back into my house with my treasures.

One of my neighbors brought them to me this morning. LOL!

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 9:03 AM

I’m sad about a few members disappearing too. We’ve been together for so long, and no matter what rut we’re in (or what new thing we’re into more), we don’t ONLY have to talk books here. We are OUR group, and we live/talk our lives together – whatever we’re into or NOT into.

I love us.

bev March 30, 2018 at 9:05 AM

Then I am right there with you Maryse.
I keep buying skincare products, but think I am good for now.
I just bought 2 different kinds of masks, a BHA, a sleeping pack, and the Vitamin C serum. I’m cutting myself off.
But this little routine every day is making me feel happy, so worth it.

bev March 30, 2018 at 9:08 AM

Though I still have the last ep of Healer saved on my phone. Watched, loved, can’t let go.

I’m trying to keep the voice in my head that is whispering about hair products quiet.
I think it is spring fever.

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 9:16 AM

P.S. Cheryl, from that first line, Off Script sounds hilarious!!!!

How’s it going?

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 9:20 AM

*wishes I could snuggle bev*

Cheryl March 30, 2018 at 9:32 AM

Luckily, my daughter is a junior, so have another year to adjust to her going away to college and then it will just be me and hubby! *eeep*

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 9:33 AM

Okay just so I can lay out my steps too, I’ll post my morning makeup routine like Amy:

-moisturize eyes
-brush teeth while moisturizer absorbs
-mascara < — YES. I AM BACKWARDS. I always start my routine with mascara because I get it ALL over my lids and under my eyes so I can really stretch out my lashes. Been doing it this way since I was 15. *sigh* It’s wrong, I know…
- uses kabuki brush to brush on Bare Minerals powder foundation (that brush feels SO good – like a mini face massage)
-primes lips and does lips (neutral pink or neutral mauve lipliner (Mac Dervish or Whirl), long-lasting neutral pink or neutral mauve lipstick <– Lancome – it has a wand)
-now that lashes are dry, cleans up mascara mess with q-tips
- eyeshadow primer
-full lid base color, crease color, then that darker outer-eye corner color. Lots of blending. LOTS. Then on my small lid, I pat on a nice light peachy color or a neutral pinkish. Always neutral, but my current color obsession are neutral purples and neutral pinks (almost brownish purples) and burgundy-browns. Once blended, the burgundy is a dream. I LOVE IT. Stila palettes or Bare Minerals Color Pop palettes.
- either black liquid eyeliner, or if I’m going for a more subtle look, a VERY DARK MAC burgundy eyeshadow that you can use a wet eyeliner brush in.
-a light touch on my lower lid too, of an eyeshadow liner
-Pink up my cheeks, and anywhere sun would hit my face <— THIS makes ALL the difference in my “healthy” look.
-finish with a neutral pink Bare Minerals Buxom gloss. It HAS to be buxom. It’s long lasting, and it’s got peppermint or something in it, so it tingles for a LONg time. Nice cool-feeling lips that almost do seem to plump.

Fluff my lashes one last time with my fingers so they look natural and fluffy. If I feel my eye-shadow blending has lightened my mascara, I MAY do a light quick fluff coat of mascara (but am SO careful ’cause … my eyeshadow!!! I’m a mess with mascara. LOL!) also with a light hand as I don’t want that thick gunky look.

And that’s it.

Now… on to curling my hair… ;)

Cheryl March 30, 2018 at 9:35 AM

Maryse, I just finished Off Script. The story itself was good, but the writing was ok. Thankfully it was KU.

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 9:37 AM

bev, there’s nothing better than taking care of yourself and treating yourself to life’s wonderful things. Your skin will radiate!

bev March 30, 2018 at 10:08 AM

My bf would always do a full face and I always liked watching her put it on. She was so quick with it.

As you know I fell down the kdrama rabbit hole which led to the k beauty rabbit hole. So I keep seeing Japanese mascara mentioned. Seriously, you or Amy need to try this cause I won’t.

Maryse March 30, 2018 at 10:11 AM

Oh yes!! I’m in, bev. :) Though I generally don’t wear waterproof ’cause I’m too lazy for the extra makeup-removal effort at night. LOL! I shall look this up pronto!

Amy March 30, 2018 at 1:14 PM

bev, I’m not big on waterproof mascara, but it IS necessary at times so I’ll have to give that one a try.

MARYSE! I have a beautiful eyeshadow combo you’ll have to try. You use MAC Yogurt as the base (lower lid and most of the top lid) then use two other brownish shades over top of it (I want to say Cork and Wedge or Saddle but I’ll have to check when I get home) and then blend, blend, blend! The result is a GORGEOUS mauvish neutral which is so unique. I’ll check the names when I get home…
