<— WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! Unseen Messages by Pepper Winters is NOW LIVE!!!
I also added a few of today’s new super-bargain finds and new releases in their respective categories. 😀 They sound so good (for example, this student-teacher one that everyone loved, here Pushing the Limits). There’s more of that, below. 😉
Quite a few of our favorite authors are back, on today’s new release list, including that one over there to the left that tore our hearts out a year or two ago. GAH!! And this one sounds pretty emotionally painful too. YAY US!!! Lots of cops, sports stars and military heroes in this one but I’ve made our little blurb-jolt list below, to highlight the ones that really got my attention. But make sure, no matter what you do, check out YESTERDAY’s earlybird release list (➜ 25 Early Bird Book Releases) if you missed it, ’cause I gotta say, it’s amazing. As amazing as this one! In fact, this is what Jean had to say about yesterday’s list:
Jean: Ahhhh!!!! This list is awesome and making me crazy at the same time! Already started Logan. I’m all over him, I mean that! Lol! A recluse hockey player?!? Mine! 1-click! Hunter, Covet Not, Night Shifts Black, Jilted, Dare Me, Feels Like Summertime, Guilty Needs, Sinful Love……click, click, click….and it’s not even Tuesday yet!!!
Fabi: Holy crap. This list. This list! *swoons* …I’ve already clicked two of the MMs. Touch the Sky may have to be my next read. Isn’t that cover beautiful?
Amy: Holy mol— *thud*
Oh and next week’s pre-orders that are going live? IN.SANE. And they’re giving me anxious butterflies!! I posted ’em at the bottom of this list.
And many have been looking for this most recent list again, so I’m linking it back up (recommendations are coming in like crazy!! So I will be updating it):
➜ Highly Recommended Historical Romance Books
So these are the ones that sound extra-promising ’cause they gave me blurb-jolts, from THIS list: So Much More (he was so in love with her, but became disillusioned when he realized what a b**ch she was! *gasp* I gotta know the backstory to that one!!!), Say You Love Me (rocking the Amazon charts right now, and he’s her best friend’s older brother that she’s determined to attract!), Hardball (C.D. Reiss’s latest, he’s a famous baseball player, and she’s a normal girl, but something she does changes him… and his focus. Yikes!), In Your Dreams (I loved this author’s bully book, and he’s a popular DJ and she’s written a song about him, but he doesn’t even remember her), and All Chained Up (he’s a dangerous inmate and she’s a volunteer nurse at the prison – you know that’s gonna be tense!!!). 😀
ALSO!!!! Unseen Messages: a survival romance novel by Pepper Winters is LIVE, and I’m at 50% and I’m having a hard time putting it down. Why am I not finished my review copy yet? ‘Cause it’s over 700 pages long!!! LOL BUT I LOVE IT! So far, anyway… 😉 My first “Pepper Winters” book and I’m in! Mind you, I have a few “bugs” here and there about some decisions, etc… I’ll bring them up in my review, but I’m a sucker for a deserted island/plane crash survival story, and this one is doing it for me.
It scares the poop out of me… makes me feel all claustrophobic. The thought of being on a deserted island and having no water unless it rains and having to come up with ways to collect it. No medicine, and no food… lots of fish but they can’t catch ‘em… GAH! Sticky ocean salt all over your skin, bug bites, and you’re sunburned and thirsty and in pain and hungry, and have no idea if ANYONE will ever find you, and what if something bad happens and you’re stuck on there all alone ’cause the few that survived with you succumb to something?!!! ‘Cause now you’re all alone… and who knows when, and if ever, and I can’t I just can’t!!!! STOP IT!
*gulp* I can’t breath!!! *fans self* *thud*
😛
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
First: I’m RE-HIGHLIGHTING a few of yesterday’s releases, ’cause I’m getting AWESOME feedback/recommendations on ’em. So I’m putting them back on here:
- Logan Kade by Tijan <— Fabi confirms it can be read as a standalone and it is BURNING up the Amazon charts right now!! Our girls are LOVING HIM!!!
Cristina: I finished Logan Kade last night and it was FREAKING AWESOME!!!! Just when you think Tijan couldn’t outdue herself, she does it again!!! I LOOOOOOVE the Kade brothers!! *swoon* *wipes sweat off brow* *fanning self* It was so easy to fall HARD *thud* for Mason, but Logan is just as delicious!! It’s hard to compare two guys who are just different kinds of sexy! *heart palpatations* I am SO SO SOOOO happy that Logan got his happily ever after!!!! Man, what I wouldn’t do for Kadewich!!!! 😉 #sexualdomination
Stacey: Logan Kade was amazing. Just finished like an hour ago and holy crap. 1000% better then I expected and I had high expectations!
LisaM: I love Logan too!!! I started reading this book at midnight!!! Am I crazy??? Oh no!!!! So good. Only read for an hour!! Back at it this morning!! Love Tijan’s writing!!! I will be done this book today!!!!
Fabi: you can read Logan as a stand alone novel. Although, I do highly recommend the Fallen Crest series as well.
- Breaking Her (Love is War Book 2) by R.K. Lilley <— Tammi: “LOVED Breaking Her!!”
- Burn by Suzanne Wright <— This was the answer to a recent reader question, and Diana jumped in and LOVED it!
“OMGosh y’all. I read Burn yesterday and I’m soooo upset it’s over. I need more now! Any similar books I should check out? PS who doesn’t love the idea of a bad ass scary-powerful dude who’s only open with us? *swoon*”
- Covet Not by Arden Aoide <— WHOA TO THIS BLURB! DARK READ ALERT? CULT? It’s also from yesterday but it’s calling me hard and I just realized the price is full-on bargain priced so it fits here just right. 😀 I’m not 100% sure what it’s about but it sounds dark… “From the womb, she was owned. Shula Kelley was signed away before her first breath, just like everyone else in secessionist Texas. She was called beautiful like it meant something important. Like it would get her a kind husband, or one less cruel. She hoped Jared Agnesson was kind. And the devil you know is still the devil…” I love the sound of this one!
- Wild: The Complete Series by Emma Hart <— LisaM went crazy for this series:
“…read Wild The complete series by Emma Hart!!! Hot hot hot!!! Not sure if it’s still on sale. It was so good. I was addicted!! Lol!! When you read the premise you will get the addiction comment!!”
- The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black <— Michelle brought this one up, and once I looked it up I KNEW I had to post this. Not a recommendation (yet) nor a bargain price, but that blurb HAS ME. “Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.” Yep… Holly Black sounds like my kind of author!
- The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black <— And here’s the other one that was on my bargains list a few days ago, and bev jumped in and says: “Finished The Darkest Part of the Forest. Really enjoyed that one.”
- The Raven Cycle #3: Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater <— Michelle is loving this series! “Finished the third Raven Cycle book and now really really want the last one!”
- KEPT: A Second Chance Fairy Tale by A.C. Bextor <— Fabi loved this one!
“I finished Kept last night. Jean’s awesome recommendation. I’ve never read anything like that plot before. Honestly, it was a little triggery for me personally, but such a great story. I’m patting myself on the back for getting through it with only minor meltdowns. I read the entire book in one day! I couldn’t put it down. Thanks Jean!”
- Stanton Series Box Set: Stanton Series (Box Set) <— FORBIDDEN TABOO LOVE ALERT!! This entire series has been bundled (Stanton Series Box Set: Stanton Series (Box Set) for a super-bargain price today!!!!! Yes. I totally one-clicked it. I’ve had some awesome recommendations recently so this is HIGH on my TBR list.
Lisa: What makes Stanton series “forbidden “? Thx!
Maryse: I’d love to know too, Lisa. Here’s a recommendation I received from Danielle indicating it was taboo and some reviews say taboo and forbidden (but I skimmed those lightly)… how forbidden? I have no idea. Maybe that’s a spoiler? I’m intrigued! 😀
Danielle: I’m not sure why Stanton Adore by T.L. Swan isn’t really on anyone’s radar. It’s taboo and super angsty! It is a trilogy though, so be prepared for cliffhangers.
- Finding Jake: A Novel by by Bryan Reardon <— HOLY MOLY LOOK AT THE PSYCH-THRILLER SUPER-SALE KAT FOUND US!!! Yep. I one clicked this. I mean… come on. “On a warm November day, he receives a text: There has been a shooting at the high school. Racing to the rendezvous point, Simon is forced to wait with scores of other anxious parents as one by one, they are reunited with their children. Their numbers dwindle, eventually leaving Simon alone. That is when he learns that Jake is the only child missing.“
- Lucky Penny by L A Cotton <— SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT! And this one is super bargain priced today! “I was his lucky Penny. He was my light in the dark, hope in despair. Our bond was one of survival, friendship… first love. But then we were ripped apart and Blake Weston became the memory I turned to when everything else in my life fell apart.“
- Bang (Black Lotus #1) (The Black Lotus Series) by E.K. Blair <— DARK READ PSYCH THRILLER FUN! SO GOOD and it’s super bargain priced today! Here is my review.
- Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers, Book 1) by Claudia Connor <— ONE OF MY FAVORITES is super-bargain priced!! (my review)
Linda: I’m drawn to a storyline where there is a devoted single parent involved. Worth the Fall was amazing as I know you agree.
Shane: Worth the Fall was a great book. Matt is swoon worthy and thinking of those abs makes it a hundred times better….
bev: I liked Worth the Fall so much…
- Pushing the Limits by Brooke Cumberland <—STUDENT-TEACHER ALERT! SUPER-SALE ALERT and so many right here LOVED this one like crazy!!
Grey: I’m reading Pushing the limits by Brooke Cumberland. Whoa… Teacher/student read… *cleans off kindle screen from the steam*
Allison: I just read Pushing The Limits by Brooke Cumberland and loooooved it. Slow burn, angsty, student teacher romance. Both are suffering from losses in their lives but find comfort with each other. I especially live how the heroine’s anxiety issues were treated. I hate when a character has a panic attack and then it’s all over with and never mentioned again. (I know, I’m being picky.) This character had some pretty severe issues related to her earlier trauma and I love that they weren’t just swept under the rug. And the Hero . . . such a nice guy but WHOA when he gets in the bedroom he’s a dirty talker. I love that!

- So Much More by Kim Holden <— AUTHOR OF BRIGHT SIDE ALERT!!! Remember how hard we cried? ‘Memberrrrrr? This author rocked our emotional worlds and she’s just released a new one! This one sounds like it’ll be romantically angsty too and now I’m dying to know what Miranda does that makes her such a b!t*h! “I thought I wanted her. I thought I needed her. Over time reality crept in and slowly dissected and disemboweled my dreams like a predator, leaving behind a rotting carcass. Reality can be a fierce bitch. So can Miranda.” Marion LOVED it!!

My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field. But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me. And it can be read as a standalone!! “On paper, he’s a zero. But in person, when he’s mixing tracks for a sea of bodies at the hottest clubs and parties, he’s downright irresistible. Just-right stubble on his chin, body of a boxer and a smirk that stimulates all the right nerves—women have never been a problem. They flock to his swagger and fall for his charm…fast. All except for this one…” I absolutely LOVED this author’s other “bully” book (Wild Reckless), so I can imagine this one will be a fun, possibly delightfully infuriating read!

Get Maryse’s Book Blog updates delivered by email (you’ll get one daily email that will have each post from that day consolidated on it).
Maryse, you haven’t read Tears of Tess??? That series was MY first of Pepper Winters and I loved it, especially book 1. The second book was pretty great as well. If I had any complaints about the series at the time, then I have long since forgotten them!
I never did get to jump in and start Logan *peeks around for the Logan lovers* but now I HAVE to start So Much More. Because Kim Holden. ‘Nuff said.
LOL!
You know what Amy… I think I did read Tears of Tess… or started it? It was a dark read. That was a few years ago, so I’m going to backtrack and see where I was on that one.
And Kim Holden. I mean that blurb!!!!! Those are some emotional visuals right there. Yikes!!!
Hey chickies!!!! I haven’t read Tears of Tess either or any in that series but I’ve read almost all her other books. The MC one I was waiting on the sequel so there’s my excuse for that one….
I’m reading Love, Chloe and got to a part that really made me question my liking of Chloe!!!!!!
This is Love Baby!!!! Now I can read This is War, Baby!!!!
Awesome list as always Maryse!
I’m not sure I’m happy with Gideon and Ava coming out next week, it’s been forever with that series and the last book was SUCH a filler it’s not even funny but of course I’ll read it and skim #4…
Kinda want to read In Your Dreams.
Stanton series!!!!! I can’t put it down!!!!
That cover for Intent is pretty sexy. The blurb is vague enough that I’m intrigued.
You have *GOT* to be kidding me. Just no. This list. No. Maryse, just no. Opens mouth. Closes it again. Grabs wallet. Sh*t.
I want you all to read So Much More first, yet at the same time, I really want to read it! *sighs* That woman is my kryptonite when it comes to sad books. I also want Dragon Soul. I’ve read all her dragon books, and if you want action with humor, you can’t go wrong with those.
I’m reading Breaking Her (Just read a chapter or two of Breaking Him and remembered everything. 🙂 ) *sighs* My heart hurts than rejoices, pain than happy. Ugh. Emotional roller-coaster alert! Yep, loving it. I just got Breaking the Wrong on loan and that might need to be next. I need something light after this.
I really liked Tears of Tess, but still have to read Quintessentially Q. I’m so happy with how Tears of Tess ended, I think I just want that ending to be it. lol And yes, the reason I started reading it was not a blurb or anything else. It was the name of the book. 😛
From the other post, Jean, instead of being Judy, this who I first thought of. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Grey Yep. My dork side is showing. 🙂
*snort* 😛
I KNEW IT SHARON!!!!
I haven’t read it yet but I just know that sucker is what I’m craving!!!!!!!
Tessa…I’m only a little ways into SMM, but I can tell it is most likely going to wring me out emotionally. It is already challenging my usual reading preferences…Miranda is an EXTREMELY difficult character to like (where I rarely dislike the h when it has her POV) but still, I’m not giving up on her just yet. And Seamus…oh, my heart. I am FEELING SO FREAKING MUCH ALREADY from his POV, where I usually don’t with the male POV.
Let’s just say my heart is already starting to hurt. In the way I love though…in BOOKS. 😉
Oh, Maryse, Stanton Series has it all! Angst, forbidden aspect, tattoos, cage fighting, broody hot male who is a jerk. He’s tall, dark and handsome. He’s rich. She is likeable. I could go on and on. Yep, I am hooked.
See! Hurt heart is what makes me worried. Actually, that would probably draw me in, but the not liking the h? Ugh. Tell me how it goes.
Tessa, how was Logan?
OMG OMG OMG – April 5th countdown to Rhage….. SQUEE!!!! THIS LIST. It’s crazy good. Shelly Laurenston? A new Bridgerton book? Too many new choices.
Anyone still reading Crossfire series? I think number 4 was a DNF for me. Hmmmm…… any thoughts there?
I’m reading the best little book ever ever ever…. but it’s way too soon for me to gush, so I will let you know by the NEXT list time…. OMG, so thrilled about this one. EEEEEEK……. happy dance…..
I have Crossfire on my TBR. I may have even pre-ordered it, but I can’t remember. I think she waited too long. I don’t even remember what happened in the last book, and my list is way too long to go back and re-read!
Tessa…I don’t *dislike* the h, she’s just such a cold-hearted b!tch right now that I’m wondering how I am going to feel about her by the end. Like I said, RARELY do I dislike the h (hell, I even still liked Anna by the end of Hausfrau, and she was MESSED UP) so I curious where this will lead with Miranda in SMM.
OMG, Maryse I am ALL OVER Hardball!!! CD Reiss is DROP EVERYTHING and read for me. Went back to my TBR, read and really liked November 9 and Eleanor and Park which have been on there for ages but after that I’ve been squirreling all over the place and not finding anything that is gripping. Halfway through Collared and will finish but… Started Forever Interrupted but too sad for me right now. Will go back. But for right now, HARDBALL!!!! I love CD Reiss and need her writing and a hot, sexy read. Now I have something I’m excited to read. And I don’t even like baseball??? No matter…
“And I don’t even like baseball??? No matter…”
hahaha marina, the things we do for (book) hotness
So true Fabi!!
Maryse, I just wanted to let you know that on April 5th Dannika Darks last book in the Seven Series, One Second, comes out. There is no pre-order, which I grrrrrrr about! This wraps up the series and ties up loose ends with my favorite wolf family. I can’t wait for this book! YAY!
MichelleS!!!!
That reaction is tooooooo good to wait! *gasp*!!!!
Spill. It.
Thank you SO much Robyn! I will look out for that one! 😀
Marina it sounds SO good, and I too am not into “real life” sports but I sure do love ’em in our books! Tee hee!!!
*scrolls back up to MichelleS’s comment*
What. The. Heck.
What Maryse said. NOW.
*crosses arms and taps foot*
YES. YES YES!!! NOW.
Let’s see if she comes back. MichelleS has only been doing quick pop in for awhile now.
I know it! She’s sticking to her new years resolution of more reading less interneting!
*hrmph* 😉
Lol.
That was me and I am failing miserably. I did do like a week a bit ago. Just have to keep trying.
OH!!!! LOL!!!!
I knew one of ya was skipping out on us for books. Although it’s a worthy cause and nobody could fault you. 😛
MichelleS hasn’t been around ’cause she’s busy sexting her hubby.
And receiving a$$ pics from his friends. LOL!!!!!!
Ummm, I was referring to when she…when we told her to…and then her hubby’s friend…okay, yeah. Never mind.
Aaaaand for a subject change…

I think of MichelleS as having dark hair too.
Bev, Logan was *sighs* Soooooooo good. I loved who he fell in love with. She is awesome. Seeing who he was past his barrier was a delight and also heart wrenching. I just wanted to hug him.
Thank you Amy!
Bev, she’s German. I always pictured her blond.
Buy for some reason I was thinking Latina until she started talking of being German. I don’t know why. My brain is obviously weird.
Time to read. But stick to current or squirrel. The age old question.
I just finished Logan!!! Loved it!!! Gushing, smiling, laughing & crying not all in that order! That’s how my day went!! Early night for me wonder who I will be dreaming about? I hope Nate gets a book!!
Great list as usual!!! I will be clicking tomorrow!! Can’t start now or I will never sleep!!
Whoa The Opportunist almost made me late today. Got to the point right after the reveal for Caleb :O realllllyyyyy! Gah I’m going to have to read all three books back to back I already know!
MichelleS, I’m probably going to read the final Gideon and Ava book but book 4 was such a disappointing filler for me I almost hurt my husband!
Sigh! I would love to be just reading the Opportunist/Love me with lies series! One of my all time favorite series where EACH book was awesome and not some filler follow up crap!
Lisa M, wasn’t it insane emotionally? I loved it.
Finished Breaking Her and it was definitely nutty. The series is mow finished and ugh, you all want angst and pain? Yep, this series.
What makes Stanton series “forbidden “? Thx!
I’d love to know too, Lisa.
Here’s a recommendation I received indicating it was taboo and some reviews say taboo and forbidden but I skimmed those lightly)… how forbidden? I have no idea. Maybe that’s a spoiler? I’m intrigued!
Danielle: I’m not sure why Stanton Adore by T.L. Swan isn’t really on anyone’s radar. It’s taboo and super angsty! It is a trilogy though, so be prepared for cliffhangers.
Tessa, Oh ya emotionally insane!!! I was hooked so fast!! I loved the whole series & remember it well!! Probably since I read it 2x!!
Michelle, I loved the Opportunist series!!! I was freaking out through the whole series!! So much angst!! I was on the edge of my seat reading it!!
Not sure what I’m in the mood for next!!
“What is it about him that makes him better for you than me?!” he bellows.
“He’s not broken!”
You.
F$&#ing.
B!tch.
Amy????
LOL!!!! You tell her, Amy!!!!!
Here, I’ll hold your earrings… 😛
See?!! It’s reactions like THAT that make me wanna squirrel. *sigh*
It’s a good thing my book is giving me panic attacks and is hard to put down. 😉 Or I’d be squirreling and chasing Amy’s book-rush right now.
Uh-oh. Amy left her husband for someone else. Just like her stories.
Oh dear. See that reaction makes me avoid the book. She sounds horrible.
Alright, book trouble number 21 for me. Logan and Breaking Her were both so good, I’m in a book fog and nothing sounds good.
Tessa have you read Fighting Silence (On the Ropes, #1) by Aly Martinez?
It has a lot of love from reviewers as well as members of our own posse here.
I’m going to start the audio version this afternoon. I believe the series is complete, plus, I think the books are about a different character each so they can be read as stand-alones.
woooaa Amy…that’s some serious angst you have there in that book
I was going to finally read On the Island, but I need some writing inspiration in my style and OTI is written in past tense. Anyone reading anything yummy in 1st person, present tense?
*hands earrings to Maryse*
I’m gonna throat punch that woman.
And yet…I still don’t hate her. 😕
Stanton series. Bargain. Thanks Maryse!!
When I have a spare day or so I’ll read this colossal list! 😉
Omg Bev…LOL!!! 😛
If/when y’all read SMM then you’ll see why that response from her is so awful and why I reacted that way. She really is somethin’ else but I still have hope for her, even if it’s not in a certain capacity.
Maryse…YOUR panic attacks are making me want to jump into that book next, especially because I know how good Pepper Winters books can be. 😉
I’m going to need some serious Logan lovin’ time after this, THEN I’ll make an attempt at Unseen Messages…
Unseen Messages makes me HUNGRY!!!
Seriously… the effort they put into feeding themselves… makes me hungry.
LOL!
I wonder if they could ferment coconut milk and make rum or something? LOL!!!
You know… for happy days!
Lisa, don’t think that was directed at me, but I’m taking the tip anyway 🙂
Thanks! And from the looks of the first 2 pages, I’ll be avoiding work for a while!
At first I was thinking, “hmmm, just what is Maryse hungry for?” *waggles eyebrows*
Then I saw the part about them feeding themselves and…aw man, you took away my fodder. 😛
And after the direction the conversation went the other day…NO, I wasn’t thinking about offering anything up, you gutter-minded ladies. Just thought I’d nip that one right in bud. *snort*
Sorry to leave you all hanging. I am finishing tonight FOR SURE, and I didn’t want to say anything just in case, but I am 100% sure that this is my favorite of the year so far. It shot right up there to number one. And maybe it’s just my mood. I started like 15 books, I swear. All were good. Great authors. I just was not getting into any of them. But THIS ONE. I was hooked pretty early on and then it had me. I am so invested now. My poor gut – I need the blankie fort for sure. What is it? “A Thousand Boy Kisses” by Tillie Cole. Be still my poor little heart. It’s just the perfect read for me. I adore the H and h. I am going to finish it right now and I am sure I will give it 6 or 7 stars!!! LOL.
Aw MichelleS, I read that one not long ago! It’s a tough read. Gotta love that sweet Viking though. 😉
You know what? I’ll bet they COULD ferment coconut milk and make some rum…inmates ferment fruit and make alcohol in prison. 😉
“…inmates ferment fruit and make alcohol in prison. ;)”
and how…exactly…do you know that? huh huh?
Oh, wow. I knew we had people post from around the world. Did not know we had prisoners.
I was wondering that very same thing… 😉
YAY MichelleS!!!!
This is GREAT news!!! Now I wanna post it. THAT reaction from you is a big deal!
Amy! What in the world are you reading????
Ela – I have held off reading book 4 of Gideon and Ava’s story. Now I know I was right to do so!
Maryse – is this the Pepper Winters book? Sounds really interesting.
I felt the need to send some time with our old friends in the Chaos MC. Love good rereads.
Started Hunter by Blair Drake today. So far pretty interesting….
BRATS!!!!
Although to be fair, I *did* bring those comments in myself.
Have none of you ever watched Cell Block 6? I think that’s what it is called…it’s a mini series following guards and inmates in a women’s jail that re-airs from time to time. They talked about making alcohol from fruit in there.
DG…I’m reading So Much More. 🙂
Hey, thanks Robyn. I’m looking forward to One Second as well. Loved the Seven series. Didn’t realise the release date was so soon. Suhweet. Looking forward to the new Kylie Scott as well. New series by a fav author? Oh yeh, I’m in. I pre-ordered this ages ago. Annoying the new Dannika Dark can’t be pre-ordered. I just lerv waking up in the morning and finding a new book has appeared on my Kindle. Hey, you know that feeling when you’ve forgotten about a pre-order you’ve made and you open it up and it’s there and you’re like what? It’s today?? Squeee!
Fabi – A little late, but I might try that after this break book. I didn’t realize who it was about, so suddenly the story seems like it’ll be nice and dark. *shrugs* There is a lot of revenge involved at least.
*sigh* my husband had surgery today. I am totally spent. (He’s fine, I think I may have had a small cardiac event, as I was watching the patient tracking board like it was my JOB and couldn’t even concentrate on my kindle – shhh don’t tell Logan) and they moved his number from the PACU back to the OR after the surgery took twice as long as it was supposed to without a word to me… anyway, I’m better now, even though he is the one that had the surgery, isn’t that always the way? And I’m the nurse for crying out loud LOL! Anywho… I am going to finish up a little book, maybe you’ve heard of it. It’s called. Logan #SexMachine Kade.
Then, another book dropped on my kindle I noticed… it’s called Unseen Messages by Pepper Winters. I’m fully prepared for it to wreck my m-fing world. I’ve stocked up on Godiva chocolate and Doritos (no judgment zone here, it’s been a ROUGH week friends). Oh and wine, just because ‘mkay?
I know if you’re sharing your menu with your husband he’s bound to feel better soon. At least you have 3 of the 4 major food groups represented.
Hope he is home and feels better soon Grey.
Grey…I’m so sorry to hear about your hubby but glad he is doing better. Lots of love and prayers going your way, for BOTH of you. *big huge hug*
And there is NO judgment here!! That’s what makes it so special. 😉 Godiva, Doritos and wine? Oh heck yeah!!! Binge to your heart’s content…you deserve it! 😀
I am going to have a very early night. PJs and bed and book. Just quiet and reading for a few hours.
Exactly. If we don’t judge Amy for being in prison and leaving her husband, then do not worry about doritos and chocolate.
Grey, get well soon wishes for your husband. What a nerve wracking day for you. *hugs*
Tessa I’m only on Chap 5 of Fighting Silence but it is already so good. What are you reading that’s dark?
BIG HUG to Grey!!! Gah what a stressful, scary time that must have been for you. Definitely take it easy and indulge in the fact that all is well.
And eat Doritos. Because I LOVE them… badly.
Me too… I’m in pjs and ready to climb in my cozy bed to continue reading my plane crash of a book. 😉
Grey, hope your hubby is better soon!! Maybe you should read to him?? Eat some mini eggs too!!! That helps along with Doritos chocolate & wine!!!
First day in the longest time I have not read. Finished Logan last night & have not had a chance to read yet today!! Shocking!! Going to fix that now!!!
Sharon, also reading Stratton – OMG HOT, long books though, I know there is going to be a big twist in this
Amy – you should have warned me then!!! I just finished A Thousand Boy Kisses and I am wrecked. Just wrecked. Did I miss you reading it? I guess I did, or you didn’t gush about it? Man. This one did me in. Why oh why oh why do I read this stuff????? (I need Kleenex).
Grey – hope hubby is quickly on the med – so scary!
MichelleS, is it safe to guess it’s not a HEA? I ordered it for my daughter’s adoption birthday, since I couldn’t find it last week for her actual birthday…but I was going to sneak a read first. Not sure if that’s a good idea! What’s etiquette on giving a gift covered in tears?
Renee – include a box of Kleenex with that gift. Yes, I bawled like a baby, but I don’t regret one minute of it. I loved every single second I got to spend with Rune and Poppy. Going to go eat copious amounts of chocolate now….
MichelleS and wine…don’t forget the wine. She’s a teenager. They don’t cry, right?
So I am just scrolling through comments – LOL – I am blonde and German – but married to an Italian, so people flub up that last name all the time thinking I’ll be Italian too. I will never live down the sexting incident, apparently, and Amy has a memory like an elephant, I swear!
I have been popping in, and I miss all the hilarious chatter. I check constantly though waiting and lurking for that perfect read, you know, the one that gets everyone excited! Does it feel like it’s been a while since everyone LOVED a book? Are we getting too picky?
Renee – you’re gifting that book to a teen? you’re going to break her poor poor heart right in two! But she will become a hopeless romantic for sure. READ IT. I dare you not to fall in love with this couple.
MichelleS…Well, she did a crap job on the dishes tonight, so it’s kind of like revenge… *oh the power parents wield* But no, honestly, she loves non HEA tearjerkers. She’s weird. Where in Germany are you from? Or are you American German by descent?
I am a green-card carrying German – born there and moved here in elementary school – from Rheinland Pfalz.
Do you visit often? I used to have friends stationed in Kaiserslautern and they took us to Heidelberg and Trier. So beautiful. I can’t wait to go back.
“Exactly. If we don’t judge Amy for being in prison and leaving her husband, then do not worry about doritos and chocolate.” <—– OMG Bev… *snort*
*hands Kleenex, chocolate and Manny to MichelleS* It just didn't affect me as strongly, that's all. 🙁 I'm not sure exactly why, maybe because the "big reveal" happened too soon for me or it was just too much like another book that I really, really loved? I don't know.
And yes, it DOES seem like it's been a while since there was a book that practically everyone was going crazy over and couldn't stop talking about.
LOL Renee!! Revenge for doing a crap job on the dishes…wield that power, momma!!! 😛
Gigantic endless day at work. Yikes.
Just popping in to catch up with my book buddies before I tackle assignment marking. Sigh.
AND…I wanted to tell you all I am officially published!! Wish it was for the next must read 50 Shadesesque book. But it is for my first co-authored research article about parent advocacy in service provision for children with autism (I know! Not exactly a scorching read but Im proud of it).
Grey…hope your honey is fighting fit again soon…its way more stressful for family members with medical background when their loved ones are unwell or in hospital. Hope you are doing ok.
Maryse, thank you for responding to my Stanton question. I’m intrigued also. Plus reviews are 4.9 on amazon. I one clicked. I mean, what’s another $.99 in the vast pool of money we spend on books??!!??!!
Lisa, a huge congrats on your article. That’s a huge step. *high five*
Lisa, congrats. You should be super proud of it.
Thanks Bev and Fabi!! Maybe one day I’ll find the time to write something fun. 😉
Congrats Lisa! I started Stanton yesterday and I’m already on book two! I couldn’t resist the bargain price, plus the reviews were awesome! It really is THAT GOOD! It is super angsty and taboo which is gold for me! Plus add the push/pull factor, lots of heated arguments, and steamy scenes between these two and it’s an all-nighter book! I didn’t get to sleep till almost 4am! I haven’t felt this way about this kind of book in a while! I am a sucker for contemporary romance, but sometimes they become too predictable and monotonous for me. This one is anything but that! It’s very refreshing and exactly what I needed right now! Joshua Stanton is an alpha jerk with quite the potty mouth, but deep down he’s just a wounded little boy (*swoon*). There were times I literally wanted to reach into my Kindle and slap the s*%t out of him! BUT our h gives it right back to him and I ate it up like chocolate cake!! Their arguments became so heated at times that I literally felt it and physically moved the Kindle back from my face with one eye closed like, “WHOA!” PLUS the secondary characters are FABULOUS which always makes the story so much richer! Natasha’s friends had me laughing at loud with their antics! I HIGHLY recommend this series! I can already tell the book hangover from this one is going to hurt! But as always, it is WELL worth the ride! 🙂
Grey, I hope your husband gets well soon! I understand how you feel about being the “nurse.” It’s a very exhausting job! Get some rest and enjoy Logan! FYI – my go to snacks for stressful times are Haribo gummi bears, Reese cups, Pringles, and a Starbucks vanilla latte. We all have our vices, plus after a stressful week, it’s the little things that bring us pleasure!
It’s first line Thursday but I’m pretty sure I did my line last week as one of my four books I was reading.
MichelleS, sometimes I think we, or I, expect to much of the same and so it seems picky. If that makes any sense. As in the same twist, angst, swoon as the last book that gave a book hangover.
Cristina that’s some seriously high praise for Stanton. I may have to give in and pick that one up for myself.
Fabi, it really is that good! It was an unexpected surprise. I probably read on average about, 3-4 books/week so there are quite a few that I don’t get a chance to mention on here. Reading is a stress reliever for me, so it’s definitely a daily habit. However, I do love to share when I come across a book that really knocks it out of the park for me! With this book, there is never a dull moment! The arguments between these two are intense and so is the sexual tension! Definitely give it a chance and let me know what you think! 🙂
That is great to hear about Stanton. The only thing I hate is that it’s a series of 3 books, even though they are all out.
Jake Undone undid me….I truly couldn’t get into this book and I still have a few chapters left and the sequel, which I’m thinking of skimming since according to reviews will just piss me off more…
Cristina, that’s about the rate I read also. I’ll pick up Stanton because you make it sound terrific.
I’m reading/listening Fighting Silence by Aly Martinez right now and it is really great. It’s also a 3 book series but each is a stand alone with different characters.
First line: “GET OUT OF THE CAR.”
lol, that doesn’t say much about the story does it?
I’m reading 2 right now, the first Taylor Jenkins Reid “Maybe in Another Life” I’ve heard it isn’t as strong as her others, but I love her writing style. First line: It’s a good think I booked an aisle seat, because I’m the last one on the plane.
And I’m reading Wallbanger because apparently, I’m late to the party.
first line: “Oh, God.”
Ha! Maybe my favorite first line ever!
Ela, if it helps any, I am about 38% into the series and can’t get enough! It is true that sometimes series can be a little much and take away from other book opportunities. The only thing I can say is this series, so far, has been a really great ride. When I’m sneaking in reading time at work (shhhh!) and pulling late nighters, I know I’m loving it! The feels to me are somewhat similar to “Thoughtless” series and “The Opportunist.” Even though there is no love triangle, their relationship is one hell of a roller coaster ride! Definitely emotional for me! These are the kinds of books that put me through the ringer. I’m yelling at the characters and such, but I find they’re also the ones that stick with me in the long run. You may forget the words, but never the feels. 😉
Fabi… YAY! I haven’t read Fighting Silence yet, but it’s on my TBR list.
“Stanton” First line: “His breathing is laboured, like he’s gasping for air.” 😉
I loved Fighting Silence! Very emotional! Thanks Cristina for that info!
I just finished one this morning… I love Logan~
“Logan Motherf**king Kade.” Logan #SexMachine Kade by Tijan
This is the one I am still reading…
“The summer I met Lilith Bresson, I had begun to die.” The Tied Man by Tabitha McGowan
This is the one that I am desperate to start…
(From the Prologue-italicized) I’m a song wrapped in paper; a sonnet scribbled by a singer.
The real first lines…
“Life offers everyone messages. Either unnoticeable or obvious, it’s up to us to pay attention. I didn’t pay attention. Instinct tried to notice; the world tried to prevent my downfall. I didn’t listen.” Unseen Messages by Pepper Winters (Yep it’s pretty safe to assume I’m gonna have to stop TTM… I just… it’s Pepper Winters guys, I can’t help it!)
Grey *hugs* I hope he recovers soon. Also, no worries. Even nurses can lose their mind when it comes to their loved ones.
Lisa, that’s awesome! Congratulations. Hopefully it’ll help parents get the services needed faster. Little dude was diagnosed right before he turned two. The intervention was so critical and really made him as well adjusted as he is.
First line is same as Fabi’s. Fabi, the book was Break Every Wrong by Calia Hart. I did like it a lot, average amount of angst, though not as dark as I thought it would be.
Tessa you’re reading Fighting Silence now? I hope you like it. I’m loving it so far.
I’m looking up Break Every Wrong. With a title like that I would normally shy away from it. (scary angst)
CONGRATULATIONS LISA!!!!!! *throws confetti in the air*
Tessa…is that the second Sloan Brothers book? I was SO surprised when I actually ended up caring about the H in that after…you know. 😉
My first line WOULD have been the same as Cristina’s (for Stanton) or Grey’s (Unseen Messages), but we closed early and are moving starting tomorrow!!! 😀 This is the first time in almost 20 years we are moving ourselves because it is a local move (hubby’s job usually moves us when it’s a move to another city) and you know what? I f&%$ing hate packing. I know, that’s the second time I’ve used that word in two days but I am a freaking the freak out right now so it’s warranted. 😛
Renee…if you’re late to the party then I am absent altogether ’cause I haven’t read Wallbanger either. I do have it sitting in my library though, and I’m pretty sure I have at least 2 of the other books in the series. Someday!
“I mean, what’s another $.99 in the vast pool of money we spend on books??!!??!!” <—— My thoughts exactly, Lisa C!!! Great minds and all, right? 😉
Okay, I'm going to have to catch up and respond to the rest of the comments in a little while…hubby just came in and gave me MAJOR stinkeye when he saw me merrily typing away on my iPad. Oh man, he has no idea what kind of hell he just started…
I know! I was loving him too. I so did not expect that. Congratulations on the house closing. Remember, as much as it sucks packing, you have a whole house to look forward to unpacking in. I’m weird and usually think, yeah, redecorating time!
Fabi I am liking it so far. I’m not far, only 15%. Still, I already love the characters.
OK, so I’m weird *snort* as if you didn’t already know that. But I love packing. I like the organizational aspect to it. Labeling the boxes, throwing out the junk, remembering what’s put away. That sort of thing. However, I hate unpacking. I just want to get to the decorating part of moving and skip the putting away part.
Okay just trying to catch up on all your comments!
Tessa, I definitely like being compared to Jean Grey better than Judi Dench! I’m a nerd too….love all the Marvel and comic book movies!
Fabi, loved Fighting Silence and the next 2 books! Such a great series! You guys will love it!
Grey, hope your hubby has a speedy recovery and doesn’t drive you too crazy!
Congrats Lisa! That’s awesome!
Hearing so many great things about Thousand Boy Kisses!
Finished Logan, and yes I still love him. But there was a small part of me that wanted to kill him after something he did which I found unacceptable. I will forgive him though! Loved Taylor for him!
First line Thursday: The white-columned Antebellum mansion was gorgeous. (Skin Deep by Dez Burke). Really liking it so far.
Oh and it was a no-brainer 1-clicking the Stanton series after seeing all the comments and that great price!
“I’m a nerd too….love all the Marvel and comic book movies!” me too me too!
Judi dench kicks jean greys a$$.
C’mon. Watch Philomena.
Also, Maryse watch Sherlock.
I’m very bossy today, apparently.
My favorite ‘villian’ is the Winter Soldier right now! I love him!
Oh bev, you are relentless! Love ya!
I have to watch (or rewatch) that movie. I can’t remember if I’ve seen it or not. Curious now!
It’s soooo great fabi! Watch it when you get a chance! Captain America: The Winter Soldier. If I wasn’t on my cell, I’d post a link. Just go Google Winter Soldier images and you’ll see what I mean!
I already did. lol I can rent it on Amazon video. I can’t imagine I would have missed it when if came out in theaters since I catch all the Marvel films, but I just don’t remember it right now so I added it to my watch list and hope to get to it this weekend.
Oh, her and Steve Coogan could kick Cap’s as too.
Lol
Honestly haven’t watched the Captain America movies.
Bev. Just go check out pics of the Winter Soldier. He is hot, and dangerous, and mysterious, and broken. My perfect man! Lol!
Has anyone heard of the Love & Decay series by Rachel Higginson? 1st book is free today and I’m intrigued.
Oh God, I loved Every Wrong Reason by her Jean, if you find out anything about it, please post.
Okay got the Love and Decay book. I just saw in my recommendation section that the second Throne of Glass book comes out Sept 6! Yeah, it’s not now, but still. A date set!
Alright, I admit Rogue is my favorite. Jean is pretty cool, though. I just am not a fan of Cyclops.
I remember Winter Soldier. Yeah, he was a wounded hero, so it’s so Jean. Me, I like buff guys, so I drooled over Thor more. Such pretty arms.
Yeah, I remember reading.g that part in Logan and thinking there might be some anger. 😛
I love this line in Fighting Silence:
“Till Paige robbed me of my God-given right as a woman to be mad at a stupid man.”
Since she’s referring to him, I thought that was pretty funny.
Oh Tessa, Thor is my ultimate hero! Love him the best out of all of them! (And actually I never liked Jean….she hurt Wolverine so that pissed me off!) Lol!
Renee, Love and Decay is a “dystopian romance novella series about zombies”. It looks like there are multiple volumes to the series.
Fabi, I absolutely love that series. I hope you continue with it!
Ha! I had no idea! That would have been pretty funny if I would have one clicked the first one just based on the writer. If it’s a writer I like, I sometimes skip the blurb!
Jean, fabi, Tessa not your favorite guy but love this show and this made me laugh. If link works.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5GwRis0CZhQ
Here’s another quote. I just love these:
“It wasn’t storming outside, so I couldn’t be completely certain, but judging by how quickly Till jumped off the bed, I decided that he must have been struck by lightning.”
I love dry wit/humor.
I always admire/jealous of people with a quick wit.
I am literally having to bite my fingers so I don’t end up here with quote after quote. I LOVE this book. Even if Till is being SO STUPID.
ok…can’t resist…(honestly, I’ve resisted the last 5, so bear with me)
“You living in this ridiculous-a$$ fantasy world is f***ing up reality for the rest of us.”
Made myself finish The Tied Man, now I am ready for Unseen Messages. Snacks firmly within reach.
I enjoyed the Fighting Silence books too Fabi… Till, Quarry and Flint, those boys, love them!
And whomever is reading the LMWL (opportunist books) for the first time, uber jealous of you right now!!!
Thanks ladies! Judi Dench was the final Jeopardy answer today & I totally kicked my husband’s a$$ because of you 🙂
Awww hell. @79% and crying big fat tears. Glad I made it home from work before I hit this part.
Welp… I finished Unseen Messages and it was great, Not 5 stars for me, but darn good (I’m think 4 stars… maybe 4.5 ’cause there’s no way you could ever forget this one) and absolutely unforgettable and very detailed and had SO many ups and downs and… an ending… and then another… and then another. LOL!!!
Hard to explain but very very very good.
And the longest book I’ve ever read. *phew* I feel like I’ve been living on an island forever now…
Now to let this one simmer in me, overnight, and then I’ll review tomorrow. 😀
I caved to peer pressure and am reading Stanton Series, Book one, Adore. I am at 4% and things JUST GOT REAL…. complicated. Woopie!!! Wicked and sexy. Fitting the bill right now.
First line Thursday: “Have you ever had a moment?”
Just wanted y’all to know i’m still here. hahahahahah!!! Been absorbed by the sand and the sea and all the crazy that goes with it.
Renee, that’s funny. And just how fabulous she is. Lol.
I loved Philomena 🙂
79% is tears? I’m at 78%! Eep!
Throw those movie peanuts Renee. And wasn’t your name an answer ?
Ha! Yes it was. And I missed that one! But it’s actually my middle name – maybe that’s why! (I’ve always used it online since is started online when people still had handles lol) My first name is Robin. I’m kind of obsessed with Jeopardy. I know. Sad. But I get a TON of answers from romance novels. My husband just shakes his head.
And I’m putting this here. Cause of all the “Whose Judi Dench?”
She’s Dench that’s who.
*blows raspberry*

Love it too. Though I suck at it, lol. I just throw guesses out. But isn’t it a thrill when you get the final answer but the contestants don’t. Does not happen often but when it does I’m all Whoot!
Ha Bev! I’m surprised you don’t get more, as much as you read! I even blogged about it. https://robinhillblogs.wordpress.com/2016/02/13/%E2%80%8Beverything-i-need-to-know-to-kick-my-husbands-ass-at-jeopardy-i-learn-from-romance-novels-from-13016/
Great post, Renee. ☺
Thanks! I guess it’s safe to say I owe my Jeopardy skills to Maryse LOL
Amy you have to read Wallbanger! Love, love, loved it! It was AWESOME…laughed my tail off. Hot guy, great friends, and the cat! *shaking head while laughing at cat*
Jean – Thor is my fav too! *winks*
*hands mojito martini with EXTRA vodka to Maryse* …to welcome you back from the island.
*gulps martini and pours another* …because I earned it when I didn’t castrate hubby today. Cheers.
No reading and no chatting with y’all today = sad me. Missed you guys!!
I think Amy needs us to mix her a variety-martini hour. Or four. 😉
*hugs* my dear friend!! It will be all settled and homey soon!
I know, DG!! I’m sooooooo late to reading that one. And I get cracking up over an animal in a story…I LOVE when an author does that!
Then he’d really be broken.
Alright ladies….feeling like my reads in the past week or so was hit or miss for me (aside from Kept!). So started on Stripped and got to say it looks really promising and hawt!!! I soooo LOVE a accent on a man! (….and a V, a 6-8 pack, and yeah probably need to stop there!).
So excited that it is Friday and found my read to start the weekend!
Amy, right there with you. Just saying there were parts I was cracking up, tears streaming down face funny!
I am officially 64% into the Stanton series and I AM IN LOVE!!!! The feels are very real and very raw!!! I have never loved a couple so much, yet wanted to strangle them at times!!! This book has my emotions all over the place!! Joshua Stanton is This is definitely a 5 star read for me!! Be aware, this is not an easy love story. It will rip you apart and then slowly put you back together. I find myself talking/lecturing out loud to my Kindle as if Natasha and Joshua can hear me. Hand movements, grabbing my hair, and all! LOL When I’m not reading it, I’m thinking about it. That’s how I know, I’m hooked! I’m starting book three today and I really don’t want it to end. This epilogue could have me sobbing. I’m bracing for impact! Supplies needed: blanket fort, kleenex, Manny, brownies, and wine. You guys this series is just… WOW!
So I forgot to finish my sentence about Joshua Stanton… *one eye opened embarrassed* (Shhhh.. I’m at working blogging) Anyways… Mr. Stanton is just… *sigh* This book literally has me just all over the place. I can’t even finish my own sentences!!
Oh! One more thing… I know that technically it’s not first line Thursday… BUT I’m throwing first line out today because it’s too good not to share. First line of Stanton book three:
“In what state does the subconscious mind need to be for one to be able to experience an awakening like this?”
THUD. *deep breaths* *shakes head, arms, and legs* *10 push-ups* *25 jumping jacks* Ladies… I’m going in.
lol Cristina you’re killing me. But I can’t squirrel from the Fighting series. I had bought the 2nd book before I was even done with the first. I read all day at work yesterday and I couldn’t go to sleep last night until I finished. This is a “Jean book” for sure. My heart hurts.
But Fabi, have you ever seen a movie staring Jean?
I don’t know. Has she ever starred in a Marvel comic, sci-fi, or action film? My movie watching is pretty limited to those categories.
‘They shower him with a standing ovation – or maybe ovulation – take your pick’ Stripped
Just couldn’t help but share….whewwee! *fans face*
Haaaa, the lines you guys have been posting are awesome.
DG, what Stripped book is that? H.M. Ward??
Fabi, I am so so so overjoyed that your are loving the On The Ropes series! You are right! This series was made for me!
Jean – the new one by Allie Juliette Mousseau. It’s a standalone.
“Too bad the dragon below has other ideas.” Stripped
I could go on for days…*wick laughs*
Last one …I swear!
“Is lusty- terror a thing?” Stripped
Loved Fighting Silence, though I didn’t get super emotional like Fabi. To me, that thing would suck, but not the end of the world. Actually, one of my favorite lines was something like Huh? and what? we’re just normal parts of daily conversation. I grabbed that and was going to family saying see! I’m not the only one who says that ALL the time! :-P.
YES Maryse…four multi-flavored martinis would be great!!! 😀
You know me so well, my darling friend. 😉
All this talk about the Stanton series, I just got it! My next read!! Enjoying my titos on the rocks!!! Yum!!! Whoever recommended Crow by A Zavelli, it was awesome!!! Love those mob reads!! I also read Mobster’s Girl, the trilogy very good!! Plowed through that!! Reminded me of The Elite (Eagle Elite series)
