*tosses glitter* Worst. Headache. Ever. Gotta be the weather but I feel miserable. Yay for HW, Maryse, I had a feeling you’d love it…
LOL!!! 😛 Gotta love a girl that throws glitter even when she feels bad!!
*gently hugs Grey*
sorry Grey, hope you feel better quickly!
Maryse love your feelings on HW, that is definitely an all time favorite and for those that read it I think it will be on all our fave lists of 2018.
And I just have to say I am sure I am late to the party on this one but Tessa picked a book for me to read and I started reading it this morning before work and was immediately wrapped up in it and *pouted* like a baby because I just wanted to stay home curled up on my couch with it. Yep I am reading Punk 57 🙂
JW… 5 stars… like Arsen? Well hello new shiny!
HECK. YES. MICHELLE. S. <--- hahah!! I rhymed. 😉 And yes I promise. This book is IT!!!!!!! ARSEN-IT. But totally it's own thing... but just... you know. INTENSE and OMG and emotional, and I'm delightfully wrecked!!!
I mean HHHHH W
Lol. And I physically recoil from it.
I need to go through and delete all those indie books I first bought that now I know I probably wouldn’t like.
Decision time. I’m barely a chapter into Duke of Shadows and think I’ll probably like it. But the new Lauren one looks super cute. Hmm.
bev it totally does look great!!
Is the new Aly Martinez in the same world with her previous books? Thought I read something but can’t remember. Says stand alone but think it is part of Darkest Sunrise? Help please.
Morning everyone! I’ve been feeling so scattered lately. Like nothing is complete, there’s a million things going on or to do and I don’t know where to start! HATE that feeling. It makes me unable to focus on any one thing for very long. Also, J is driving me craaaazy. He’s into absolutely everything. He won’t leave my tree alone, or anything else he shouldn’t have for that matter. And he completely ignores his toys. He’s been crawling regular style for a while now (he had a launching crawl that got the job done at 5 months, decided to do it the regular way at 6) and now he wants to climb. He’s too young for this, I wasn’t and am not ready! I swear, he’ll be walking at 8. Earliest mover I’ve had, latest teether. Nothing there yet. And oh boy, do we feel the need for a sprouter.
Anyway, a new release came out today that’s popping up everywhere I look and I may read that next. It’s Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield. Also, I finished reading Holiday by Gaslight by Mimi Matthews. Good read, perfect for what I was in the mood for.
Oh TASHA that new one sounds AMAZING!! I’m adding it to the list right now!! YAY!! Thank you!
I just heard from Renee. It seems the drugs are kicking in a little and she’s finally able to eat something. She has her 3rd surgery scheduled for Thursday, hoping to go home Friday, and a 4th surgery scheduled in a couple weeks. Then she’ll be in a cast for 4 months!
Sorry, Nay. I call her Renee outside of here!
HOLY MOLY!!!!!! How did this happen R?? That sounds awful!
She slipped off one of her porch steps! Michele and I are on bubble wrap duty when she gets home!
Yes to the bubble wrap duty!! And R. is assigning people to “guard patrol” to be sure no other “incidents” occur!! I don’t think we can be too safe at this point!!
Bev, I finished Dumplin’ yesterday…loved it! Now I’m ready for the Netflix movie!! I hope they do it justice!
I have a bunch of yummy challenge reads (yes Grey, I am not ignoring my assignment) but first I’m tucking in my library books before they expire…one of which is Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen (part of her True North series). I’ve enjoyed all of them to date and am about 30% into this one…so far so good!
Maryse, I loveddd Heartbreak Warfare…the angst!!!
The Dirty Ones and Burn Falls are MINE!
I’m holding out hope that I’ll get an Arsen-like book at some point. All the enthusiasm for HW has me GREEN with envy…but not enough to chance it. 😉
Oh, poor Nay. And right before Christmas. 🙁
AMY!!!!!
AM. Y.
You love Arsen? You love HW. ‘Nuff said. Trust me.
P.S. All those Arsen feels?? On BOTH sides (for us… the reader…) HERE.
ALL. OF. THEM.
Bev, I got stressed just hearing the spoilers for HW, so I know what you mean. Too graphic, intense, sad, etc for me. I also have hundreds of books I need to delete as I seem to get even more persnickety as time goes by.
Tasha, sorry to hear J-man is driving you crazy. He started crawling way too early. Can you contain the little bugger (*giggles*) in a play yard or excersaucer thingy?
Poor Nay!! I wonder if her meds or heart stuff made her bones extra brittle? That seems so extreme of an injury for slipping on steps. Sounds like she has a long recovery ahead. She has been through enough.
Finally got my tree decorated!! *tosses red & green glitter*
Oh, and my ham came out good yesterday in Crock-Pot. It was better than heating in oven…but I hoped it would tenderize it more. It was moist though, and it’s probably not going to get too tender as spiral hams are pretty lean.
I’m gonna try and email a couple pics to you this weekend, Maryse. As well as work on my best of list. It’s on my list of unfinished things. Lol
Glad your ham turned out Leslie! I’m not a super huge ham fan, only eat it a few times a year. I can’t stand all the fat.
I was thinking the same with maybe that’s why her leg broke so bad. I cringe and shield my legs just thinking about it.
I’ve been using an exersaucer since he was 3 months. This kid, I swear, has been plotting everything he’s gonna do and get into at 2 months. He’s nosy to the extreme. It’s why I have to practically sit on him to feed him. And I’m the only one who can. He’s always wanted to be up. So, he’s now bored of the exersaucer and doesn’t like being restrained. But I use it when I can. The walker is ok sometimes too. The playpen I just got out so I could finish painting something. That was a joke, he hates that. Lol
Slipped is the simplified version. There was a stripped screw that contributed to the board basically propelling her when she stepped on it.
Yay for Dumplin love!!
Leslie, I dont want to miss out on a great read or totally close myself off to different tropes, but if it makes me stressed to read about it? Pass. It is just not me.
Tasha get him a baby mat climber. Toddlers and crawlers need to climb. Building those gross motor skills.
You know the longer he goes without teeth probably healthier teeth he will have.
Oh my gosh, WHY do i not come here before I do all my Christmas shopping g? You guys have the best advise/ideas. That would be the perfect forbidden thing to keep him busy for a long time to come. I’ve never had one before.
Finished the series from a few days ago with the kpop reverse harem. Happy to report it was really good. Totally believable that they are in a band. (pet peeve when it’s not) It actually got very in depth of what’s behind the scene of making a song get out and what’s needed for kpop to thrive. 😀 Love that!
LOL Tessa!!! I love that you went in!!! Thank you for the feedback. bev should give it a go. 😉 Hey bev… *nudge nudge*
bev Duke of Shadows is really good. Quite intense and emotional, and quite an original setting and storyline too. I think you should stick with it. I can see the temptation, though, and I’m wanting to start the new Lauren one too.
But I know I’m not touching Heartbreak warfare. I’m too scared of that one LOL.
Fantastic list again today, Maryse 😀
And you should give a drama a chance.
Nudge. Nudge. 😉
*snort* 😛
Good Morning-
I just saw the best news ever, Colleen Hoover’s Verity will be out THIS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!! That is two CoHo surprises in one week. 🙂
and OMG guys I am so loving Punk 57 why did I wait so long to read this *big sigh*
oh and I probably should mention I still would not be reading it if it wasn’t for Tessa.THANK YOU TESSA
More Colleen Hoover this week!! Yay!!! Although my current book “dance list” is way too full…she’s gonna have to cut in on someone …
Enjoy Jenn!!! Punk 57 is definitely a goodie!!
Tasha, Wowza! They say everyone gets at least one kiddo that is super ahead of the game…bless your heart…J man sounds like he’s “Topping the charts!” Loved Bev’s suggestion…never even knew those matt climber thingies existed…..of course my youngest “baby” is 19…so a lot has changed. Good luck!!
And I have to second Maryse’s nudge towards Heartbreak Warfare…it’s in my Top 10 for the year (and one of my all-time faves)…I stayed up until some ridiculous time of the night (well, actually morning…pretty sure it was 4am..but the time had changed so it was really only 3am…let’s just say it was LATE) to finish it because I could NOT sleep until I knew what happened. My only complaint was with a portion of the epilogue…I would been happier if more time was dedicated to a certain character’s resolution…like perhaps a novella instead of just some time in the epilogue…but that’s just me.
MicheleG-I typically will stop reading a book to read a new release from Colleen Hoover however “Maybe Now” is still patiently waiting because I can’t bring myself to part with Misha and Ryen….I am however very eager to read Verity as it is beyond her norm of writing ( a little on the dark side…I think) so I am looking so forward to that. I will finish Punk57 before Verity even hits my Kindle…. 🙂
I understand when people do not want to read a certain book because of a certain subject matter even though it’s so hard for us who have read it and 5+ stars loved it to get it. I have a book buddy who will let me know if a book has infertility issues/miscarriages/ect….in them because those are so painful for me to read. What I have realized is it actually makes me want to read them more because it’s more personal when you can relate to a characters pain….No body knows what it feels like unless you’ve lived it yourself so books like Arsen-Heartbreak Warfare-T&D- although beyond heartbreaking for me to read I still love with all my heart. Sorry if this is a little long winded but I do have a point and that is Amy….Bev…and anybody else reluctant to read HW *NUDGE NUDGE*
Jenn, I’m sending you hugs…cause I just have to! I agree that I think sometimes I like to read the really sad, heartbreaking stuff because as strange as it sounds, it’s therapeutic for me. It is always good to know if a book contains something that may be a trigger item for you though. Btw..I sent you a message on GR too…check it when you have a chance.
thank you MicheleG-*squeezy hugs* to you xoxo
I watched Daddy’s Home 2 last night. Really good Xmas movie, I was pleasantly surprised! And am watching a bit of Mrs. Maisel season 2 now. 🙂
Daddy’s Home 2 was hilarious! A bunch of that movie was filmed in towns all around me. Someone we know was an extra too.
You guys are funny with your whole “sad books are theraputic” silly talk. 😉 Sad books for me are just depressing.
So Arsen I dont shy away from because it might be sad but because i think I’d hate the heroine.
I have a hard time when the heroine cheats or the whole i dont know who i love because ….
Any LOVES that just hates a hero cheating, lol.
You dont want me to hate one of your favorites. I still take it personally that you all loved Thoughtless, LOL.
Sad is hard for me too. A bit more hit or miss. Like the end of the end of the Alaska book put me in a funk for a couple days. I woke up feeling heavy hearted and didnt want to get out of bed. I dont like that feeling.
But I do know many people that use the sad books as therapy or a way to release emotions.
Just finished Hotshot Doc – it was just what I needed. Sweet, swoony, witty, a bit of angst and kind of like reading Grey’s Anatomy in book form! Loved it and highly recommend when you need something easy to read.
I’m not reading HW for the same reason as Arsen. I read a sample and didn’t like the heroine. I’ve no issues with cheating, but more the girl who’s all, I’m in love but decided this guy is hot or I just am not feeling him so I’m going to cheat. I LOVED Thoughtless because she didn’t go in thinking, he’s hot, I’m gonna do him or I am bored so I’m gonna cheat on my husband. So, not due to sadness. 😛
Ooooh Tessa HW is nothing like the impression you had, from that sample. I can promise you that. It is so… REAL and almost undeniably inevitable. Like Thoughtless but MUCH harder and darker in regards to the reason they connected so hard.
NOTHING about “he’s hot and I’m bored”. Promise.
I can’t believe it is that time of year again…to have reader favorites up.
Is anyone else listening to the Read Me Romance podcast?? One book start to finish each week, new chapters Monday through Friday & completely free!
I’ve come to the conclusion that I can read about just anything if it’s WRITTEN WELL. I’m just going to have to start paying more for books. It’s all ablout the craft of writing for me. I’m just picky now.
Me too, MichelleS. Me too.
MichelleS, I listened to it (cause Lin Manuel Miranda), but I loved the way Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe was written. I think that “craft” one of the adjectives I used when I first talked about it (all the time) on here.
If the mood strikes and you see it in your library sometime give it a shot. I’m curious as to what one of you would think.
So…..if I make a list its going to be short. I’m just getting my mojo back. After a year and a half!!
So……like last year may have a couple books, dramas, and songs on it.
Sounds perfect to me, bev! Our lists can include ANY of our favorite things of the year. Why not?
I’m peeking in to say thanks for everyone’s thoughts and prayers. As always, they’ve helped SO much! Please continue to think of me as I’m scheduled for my 3rd surgery at 7:30 in the a.m so that I can hopefully go home on Friday. I want to write more, but the drugs keep making me doze off! Lol
Nay I can’t even imagine so many surgeries back to back like that… I will be thinking of you and sending you love and healing vibes. <3
With Heartbreak Warfare, I just…can’t. The crazy thing is I WANT to read it, my HEART wants me to read it, but my MIND is overruling and saying NO. And for once, I’m actually listening to my mind.
Like bev said, I love when it’s a cheating h book (ohhhhh the delicious angst) but hate when the H cheats. THIS one is the exception though because of the military aspect, the PTSD, and the soldier cheating on the spouse (even if it is the h doing the cheating). I’ve seen it happen, and it sucks. PTSD wreaks havoc on marriages, and it sucks as well. Hubby and I haven’t escaped unscathed after so many deployments.
So, I can honestly say I’m a little devastated about missing out on this one, but in the long run it’s for the best. Okay…I’m going to stop with the heavy talk now. 😉
TOTALLY makes sense Amy!!! I get you, 100%
MichelleS…YES! I definitely will pay more money for a well-written ebook, and rarely do I regret it.
Jenn! I really, REALLY liked Punk 57! Although I still stand by what I said about NO teenage boy being THAT skilled at sexy time. *shakes head*
Awww Nay, so glad you popped in. Sending lots of hugs and love to you.
Nay, I hope you are home soon. It really sucks, but I hope you get go be all comfortable in bed with your dog and a couple stacks of books.
Hey Theresa!!!! I have your answer about Aly Martinez’s latest release (she answered it herself for you). 🙂

Did you guys see Alessandra Torre’s new release coming out tomorrow? It’s called Tripping on a Halo- I love the cover! And I may be in the mood for something lighter. Too bad my weekend is jam packed.
oh I LOVE her Tasha!! Good find and reminder. 😀
OMG……Heartbreak Warfare…..just wow! Couldnt put it down….I always lean one way or another with how I hope it will end with these types of books and this one I honestly couldnt decide. Still cant……and that has NEVER happened before. Definitely a top book of 2018!
Spotify has my Top Songs of 2018 playlist. I love these I was just listening to 2017’s list last night.
So, I’m just curious who’s dropping everything to read Verity? I started An Exaltation of Larks last night….I mean seriously, what was I thinking with Colleen’s book dropping tomorrow (or is midnight tonight I guess)? I’m already in love with Exaltation and pretty much ticked off that I actually have to work today and can’t sit around and read it!
Absolutely I am Michele-well technically I am not dropping anything because I am not going to bed tonight till I finish Punk 57. 🙂 I honestly would easily have read this without stopping if it wasn’t for my crazy life…I am that into it!
Bev I am listening to mine as well…love it. I love that they do this!
I knew you would, Maryse. 😉
Michele G…I’m starting Verity tomorrow! 😀
I’ll be finishing up Keeping 13 today so the timing is perfect.
I’m so ready for a Colleen Hoover read, especially one with a blurb like that! *rubs hands excitedly*
Speaking of Alessandra Torre, Hollywood Dirt is FREE right now! Yet another one that needs to be moved back near the top of my TBR…
Jenn, me too. They sent my Year Wrapped.
Oldest song was Jackson by June and Johnny.
Listened to 3, 967 different songs.
Listened to 44, 878 minutes of music.
Top artist all kpop, lol, except Hamilton album. Pentagon, Big Bang, Taemin, and Epik High.
But kpop was only my 4th most listened to genre.
I really liked Hollywood Dirt. Grab it while it’s free, ladies. I’ll try Tripping on a Halo but I’m not sure. Torre is one of those writers who has changed her style a few times. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I haven’t enjoyed all of her books, but really liked others. Not sure which camp this one will fall into. We’ll see!
What did everyone think of the winners of the Goodreads choice awards? Once again, I haven’t read a SINGLE ONE of the winners LOL. Not even the romance category winner. I read about 200 books a year, including lots of new ones. I can’t believe I haven’t even read any of the winners 0_0
I actually read 1 winner. And it was The Kiss Quotient. I did like it, but in my opinion All Your Perfects was better. I don’t remember all the other nominees.
Nay, you poor thing, I’ve been thinking of you all day. Feel better, friend! xoxox
I’m afraid to look at my Spotify history. I have 2 Spotify accounts linked under my premium account. It truly is ALWAYS on. I love my music probably more than I love my words. Gah, that actually pains me to say.
Did we do FLT? “Get out!” I screamed, hurling my wine glass across the room. ~ Across the Horizon by Aly Martinez
Literally just downloaded it, so, I can’t give you any impressions yet, I’ll keep you posted…
I haven’t read ANY of the winners on GR’s top books of the year… shocker, I don’t think I normally do. *SMH*
Then you should have an email from them Grey. It’s fun.
My FLT is a spoiler for the first book (Binding 13) so I can’t post it. *shrugs*
*high fives Amy* I had the same problem last Thursday.
FLT:
I’d been having a great day up until the omen of death appeared.
Hereditary Magic by Emma L. Adams
It’s 11:55, so still Thursday.
And I have a new first line for FLT:
“I hear the crack of his skull before the spattering of blood reaches me.” ~ Verity by Colleen Hoover
Yep. It’s on.
*high fives Tessa*
Wasn’t K13 just as wonderful as B13, but in a deliciously different way? *sigh* What a wonderful group of characters to get lost with.
It totally was! I’m still kicking myself for not reading it right away.
