I’ve always loved book list and even during this slump I buy more than I read. Though I think, thankfully, I’m getting a bit burned out on that.
Though I do enjoy going through pre orders at the end of each year. Like the last week of December posts will come up of the most anticipated books in all the genres and I like to sit with my coffee and window shop, lol .
Tasha are you in a slump at all? Because I’ll be determined to read and instead start looking at recipes, book lists, making lists of dramas, etc.
I think you hit the nail on the head, Bev. Now I’m reading recipes! 😛 In my defense, my brain is a crazy mess of things going on/to do. And I’m starting to want to wean out of baby food purée and need refresher ideas on feeding baby finger foods again. Which means I have to put even more effort into food preparations, *sigh*. I hope he starts taking better to it though, this bullheaded child, I swear. He has now decided he wants nothing to do with baby food, on and off. And he refuses to eat veggies unless they’re doused in fruit. It’s just gotten worse over the last couple months so it’s time to move on, I think.

Bev-I can’t believe you said that about coke-that is me and that is never me. The only time I drink a coke is when I have a head cold because for some reason it always makes me feel better. My husband always tells me it’s because of the “coke” they put in coke. lol Oh and I miss the monkey-it always made me smile seeing it, which is fitting as you always make me laugh 🙂

So, Killswitch was just what I wanted and hoped for. So intense, so dark, total mind-mess, and yet the actual relationship growing? I absolutely loved it. It was dark, but there was that hint of sweet that kept cropping up.

The Affiliate by KA Linde is a romantic fantasy and The Supernatural Prison series by Jaymin Eve is more Urban but has more fantasy elements. Also, fae. Also, she writes some of the best friendship/ sibling relationships.

Okay, that’s gonna be hard but here’s a try
1. Supernatural prison – Not because of the fae, but because of her relationship with the quad. NOT a reverse harem, but as I said, sibling/ friendship relationship with 3 of the 4.
2. The Affiliate – A really good fantasy world, and it has the KA angst too.
3. Fallen Academy – It’s an angel/ demon book, but again, a different take. Also, a bit of forbidden in it too.
4. Air Awakens – It’s lower because of how the 3rd book ended and it made me want to scream, but it’s the middle book of a series, where every middle book is so full of angst and horrible crap happening. lol
5. Changeling Exile – Still new into the series, and the rest are really good, but such a fun take on a fae changeling trying to survive.
Grey, I knew I’d love Damon’s most because of who Damon is, but that sweetness was unexpected. And it didn’t take away from the fact that he was a scary dude who was messing with her head. No abuse, but his mental games make him scary.
I think I accidentally started reading a potential Marmy and/or death book!! *horrified gasp*

Tasha, yes! I am pretty far in book (almost half way) and I hate dnf-ing after first few chapters. Idk if it’s an actual death book (I didn’t read spoilers) but I have an ominous/uneasy feeling. It’s making me super anxious.
I have two great romances that take place in Italy to recommend. Racing the Sun by Karina Halle and Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger (this is a stand alone and not connected to other stories).
I like the sound of Ache for You, Leslie. Racing in the Sun sounds familiar. I’m not sure if I read it, started to read it, or wanted to at some point. Lol! Either way, I don’t much read Karina Halle anymore so I’ll try Ache for You.
I love ominous feelings/anxiety in books. It’s the only emotional thrill I can handle. HAH!
Romance is a Bonus Book.
On the drama blog I read many are watching this and one of the side characters is bringing up widely different feelings. At first I didnt like this character and now am like….wait she isn’t doing anything wrong and am intrigued by her. The writers let you believe something but then revealed something to potentiality change your mind.
Anyway, if Jan or Tasha watches the show I’d be curious to see how you fall.
I wish I could get Amy to watch it because she is the boss lady so would be curious as to her perspective.
Tessa – dang it! Read this post too late & started Air Awakens. Only 30 minutes left in book. I devoured it. I’m at “the trial”. Has a very Sarah J Maas feel.

I notice you don’t put anything by Layla Frost or Brynne Asher on here. They are both really good authors with alpha males. Layla Frost just released Stoned yesterday, which is book 2 in her paranormal/mystery like series. She has a mafia book, and another series about mechanic/bikers. Brynne Asher has a series about the Carpino family and also another one about military men (This one is my favourite, but I love the Carpiono’s as well). If you are a KA fan, then you will most likely love both of these authors.

So the Son and his Hope……yeah I think that was the first time I have ever been scared and apprehensive to start a book. After the Ribbon Duet devastated me I wasnt sure what to expect. As per usual Pepper gave us ALL of the FEELS!!! You feel the good, the bad, and everything in between. I think I was fighting tears at 5% if that tells you anything. Its raw, emotional, and gut-wrenching. Definite Best of 2019 for me!
