*glitter bomb* I’m first!!! And it’s a snow day! Woooohooooo!

bev February 12, 2019 at 8:15 AM

Good morning.

Instead of coffee I’m craving an ice cold coke.

Leslie M February 12, 2019 at 8:20 AM

Good morning. I know I have a bazillion things to be grateful for but a broken toilet and no plumber is not a good way to start the day. :(

I’m going in the blankie fort to read and ignoring the real world.

Traci February 12, 2019 at 8:30 AM

Good morning!! I’m super excited for The Son and His Hope. The Ribbon Duet gutted me. I wish I didn’t have to work

bev February 12, 2019 at 9:38 AM

I’ve always loved book list and even during this slump I buy more than I read. Though I think, thankfully, I’m getting a bit burned out on that.
Though I do enjoy going through pre orders at the end of each year. Like the last week of December posts will come up of the most anticipated books in all the genres and I like to sit with my coffee and window shop, lol .

Tasha are you in a slump at all? Because I’ll be determined to read and instead start looking at recipes, book lists, making lists of dramas, etc.

Tasha J February 12, 2019 at 10:35 AM

I think you hit the nail on the head, Bev. Now I’m reading recipes! :P In my defense, my brain is a crazy mess of things going on/to do. And I’m starting to want to wean out of baby food purée and need refresher ideas on feeding baby finger foods again. Which means I have to put even more effort into food preparations, *sigh*. I hope he starts taking better to it though, this bullheaded child, I swear. He has now decided he wants nothing to do with baby food, on and off. And he refuses to eat veggies unless they’re doused in fruit. It’s just gotten worse over the last couple months so it’s time to move on, I think.

Jenn February 12, 2019 at 10:41 AM

Good Morning :-)

Grey-It’s snowing like crazy here but sadly no snow day for me :-( damn job!

Bev-I can’t believe you said that about coke-that is me and that is never me. The only time I drink a coke is when I have a head cold because for some reason it always makes me feel better. My husband always tells me it’s because of the “coke” they put in coke. lol Oh and I miss the monkey-it always made me smile seeing it, which is fitting as you always make me laugh :-)

Leslie-Bummer on the broken toilet/no plummer issue but YAY on blankie fort to read and ignore the real world…don’t you wish it was that easy.

Tessa February 12, 2019 at 12:24 PM

Good morning!

So, Killswitch was just what I wanted and hoped for. So intense, so dark, total mind-mess, and yet the actual relationship growing? I absolutely loved it. It was dark, but there was that hint of sweet that kept cropping up.

Favorite Devil’s Night book. :D

Tessa February 12, 2019 at 12:26 PM

MichelleS! Two I forgot to mention!

The Affiliate by KA Linde is a romantic fantasy and The Supernatural Prison series by Jaymin Eve is more Urban but has more fantasy elements. Also, fae. Also, she writes some of the best friendship/ sibling relationships.

MichelleS February 12, 2019 at 12:31 PM

Tessa – OMG! So many new shinies!!! Yay!

A Boy & His Hope is mine mine mine. Ribbon Duet was utterly unforgettable. And it’s a nice big book. I hate short books. Happy day.

Grey February 12, 2019 at 12:35 PM

Tessa! I knew you’d love it! *Showers Tessa in red and black glitter* wasn’t it amazing?!?

MichelleS February 12, 2019 at 12:36 PM

I love the cover of The Affiliate. I paint abstracts, and the colors are some of my favorites. Maybe I should do a series based on book covers? Ha! It would be my little secret.

Maryse February 12, 2019 at 12:55 PM

Bev… for me… Pepsi. But I’m not allowed ’cause… Keto.

So coffee it was!!

MichelleS February 12, 2019 at 1:20 PM

Tessa – I have downloaded 4 books & two samples. Now I’m staring at all this goodness on my Kindle. Likes French pastry shop. Can you rank them for me???

Tessa February 12, 2019 at 2:52 PM

Okay, that’s gonna be hard but here’s a try

1. Supernatural prison – Not because of the fae, but because of her relationship with the quad. NOT a reverse harem, but as I said, sibling/ friendship relationship with 3 of the 4.

2. The Affiliate – A really good fantasy world, and it has the KA angst too.

3. Fallen Academy – It’s an angel/ demon book, but again, a different take. Also, a bit of forbidden in it too.

4. Air Awakens – It’s lower because of how the 3rd book ended and it made me want to scream, but it’s the middle book of a series, where every middle book is so full of angst and horrible crap happening. lol

5. Changeling Exile – Still new into the series, and the rest are really good, but such a fun take on a fae changeling trying to survive.

Tessa February 12, 2019 at 2:53 PM

Grey, I knew I’d love Damon’s most because of who Damon is, but that sweetness was unexpected. And it didn’t take away from the fact that he was a scary dude who was messing with her head. No abuse, but his mental games make him scary.

Leslie M February 12, 2019 at 4:37 PM

I think I accidentally started reading a potential Marmy and/or death book!! *horrified gasp*

Tasha J February 12, 2019 at 4:59 PM

-Pepsi for me too. But, if Coke is offered, I’ll drink it.
-Leslie, are you now invested and just HAVE to keep going to see what happens??
*Still Waiting for someone else to read Sally Thorne’s 99 Percent Mine so I’m not alone in the awesomeness that is this book!
-J ate my chicken and noodles, WIN!!
-Still reading and enjoying The Wolves of Winter, little bit by little bit.
-I lack all control. Just bought a Universal Yum Box for myself. I need a romance with an Italian theme to match. Ideas?

Leslie M February 12, 2019 at 6:48 PM

Tasha, yes! I am pretty far in book (almost half way) and I hate dnf-ing after first few chapters. Idk if it’s an actual death book (I didn’t read spoilers) but I have an ominous/uneasy feeling. It’s making me super anxious.

I have two great romances that take place in Italy to recommend. Racing the Sun by Karina Halle and Ache for You by J.T. Geissinger (this is a stand alone and not connected to other stories).

Tasha J February 12, 2019 at 8:03 PM

I like the sound of Ache for You, Leslie. Racing in the Sun sounds familiar. I’m not sure if I read it, started to read it, or wanted to at some point. Lol! Either way, I don’t much read Karina Halle anymore so I’ll try Ache for You.
I love ominous feelings/anxiety in books. It’s the only emotional thrill I can handle. HAH!

bev February 12, 2019 at 11:31 PM

Romance is a Bonus Book.

On the drama blog I read many are watching this and one of the side characters is bringing up widely different feelings. At first I didnt like this character and now am like….wait she isn’t doing anything wrong and am intrigued by her. The writers let you believe something but then revealed something to potentiality change your mind.

Anyway, if Jan or Tasha watches the show I’d be curious to see how you fall.

I wish I could get Amy to watch it because she is the boss lady so would be curious as to her perspective.

MichelleS February 13, 2019 at 8:58 AM

Tessa – dang it! Read this post too late & started Air Awakens. Only 30 minutes left in book. I devoured it. I’m at “the trial”. Has a very Sarah J Maas feel.

Tessa February 13, 2019 at 10:26 AM

YESSSSS! :) Robyn originally recommended it on here and I picked it right up. I gotta read four and five. I was just so full of angst and wanted to go hurt people when it ended so much that I couldn’t read four right away. lol

bev February 13, 2019 at 10:36 AM

I NEED NEED NEED COFFEE. Woke up to no power and beautiful snow that I had to leave to go to work…..where there is no snow. But snow means running late so no coffee stop.
Plus I got ready in the dark and felt like way too much hair product.
I need coffee.

Tasha J February 13, 2019 at 10:57 AM

I never got to Romance is a Bonus Book the other night, Bev. I haven’t been staying up as late bc of sleep training (my toddler) lol! He’s been doing great, but it’s been so long, now I feel weird so I rush to bed too. I’ll see if I can get to it sometime today, if not this weekend.

Michele G February 13, 2019 at 11:09 AM

Leslie, Is this what happens when I get busy reading? You pick up a “death” book? I’m sorry I don’t know much about that one…but it sounds like it could be dangerous. I’m too busy in the world of Kill Switch…and LOVING it!!

Just saw Tessa’s recs to the other Michelle up there. I’ve read the Affiliate and loved it but the other 3 are ones I haven’t read yet…so there goes my TBR…Oh and The Son and His Hope is calling to me too…

Then Bev tosses in a cute show rec like Romance is a Bonus Book…I’m already so behind on shows…but it looks really cute! Crap! Why do I have to work??

Terri Bowles February 13, 2019 at 1:10 PM

I notice you don’t put anything by Layla Frost or Brynne Asher on here. They are both really good authors with alpha males. Layla Frost just released Stoned yesterday, which is book 2 in her paranormal/mystery like series. She has a mafia book, and another series about mechanic/bikers. Brynne Asher has a series about the Carpino family and also another one about military men (This one is my favourite, but I love the Carpiono’s as well). If you are a KA fan, then you will most likely love both of these authors.

Leslie M February 13, 2019 at 3:22 PM

Yes Michele, you are not allowed to be busy. You need to pre-screen every single book for me and provide spoilers when asked!!!! ;) *giggles*

Tessa February 13, 2019 at 4:17 PM

Huh. I read Hyde and Seek by Layla Frost and 5* it then nothing after. WHY? *puts book 2 on TBR*

MichelleS February 13, 2019 at 4:31 PM

Oh man! A 5* Layla Frost PNR/ mystery. Catnip. Too many choices now!

MichelleS February 13, 2019 at 4:37 PM

Tessa – oh no! I hate that third book angst. It better not be a team Chaol, team Dorian, team Rowan kind of thing. Or death. Going to keep going…

Tessa February 13, 2019 at 5:30 PM

ROFL No. More of a “these things happen, a bad guy is manipulating, and there is potential for more horrible because of what just happened” type angst.

The one I read wasn’t a PNR, it was a CR. :) The cover doesn’t really reflect the story, but it was really good.

Tasha J February 14, 2019 at 9:19 AM

Happy Valentines Day, lovelies!!! <3 <3 I hope you all have a love filled day! :)

bev February 14, 2019 at 9:58 AM
Tasha J February 14, 2019 at 12:05 PM

Gah!! There’s gonna be a sequel to The Kissing Booth on Netflix! *eeeep* : D

Leslie M February 14, 2019 at 12:21 PM

I seriously cannot wait to see it. It makes me sad that we all are not real life friends. It would be so cool to have a ladies movie together.

Stacey February 14, 2019 at 12:42 PM

So the Son and his Hope……yeah I think that was the first time I have ever been scared and apprehensive to start a book. After the Ribbon Duet devastated me I wasnt sure what to expect. As per usual Pepper gave us ALL of the FEELS!!! You feel the good, the bad, and everything in between. I think I was fighting tears at 5% if that tells you anything. Its raw, emotional, and gut-wrenching. Definite Best of 2019 for me!

R. Renee February 14, 2019 at 2:26 PM

Bev that looks great! I just made my husband watch it and promise to take me on a date night. In June!

R. Renee February 14, 2019 at 2:33 PM

FLT: “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Navy Commander and Mrs. William Grey Foster.” The Kiss of Life by Char Sharp. And it qualifies as a politician book on the levels challenge for anyone who still needs one!

And I’m throwing this one in to taunt Leslie:
My sister’s voice echoed up the stairs from the foyer. “Thea, let’s go.” A Five-Minute Life by Emma Scott.

Tessa February 14, 2019 at 2:38 PM

There is never a good day to get lost in New York City.
Absorb by Analeigh Ford

Happy Valentine’s Day!

MichelleS February 14, 2019 at 6:19 PM

“Vhalla was falling.” Earth’s End, Air Awakens Series Book 3.

Because I’m a sucker for punishment, apparently, Tessa.

Tessa February 14, 2019 at 6:50 PM

It’s good. But just saying, the bad guy likes to screw things up. lol

Maryse February 14, 2019 at 8:03 PM

Hey everyone… I’m here…

just taking a day or two to deal with something personal. I love you guys and I’m here even if I don’t post for a day or so. Or maybe I will. <3 just don't want anyone to worry or wonder. I'm right here.

bev February 14, 2019 at 8:26 PM

Take the time you need.

Were right here too.

bev February 14, 2019 at 8:27 PM

Leslie that would be fun. We will make it the retirement plan.

Leslie M February 15, 2019 at 6:15 AM

Maryse, thanks for telling us. I hope all is well.

Leslie M February 15, 2019 at 6:19 AM

*side eyes R.*

Hubs and son loved the Yesterday trailer! We are all excited to see it. So fun to have movies to look forward to.

Jenn February 15, 2019 at 7:26 AM

Maryse *big squeezy hugs* and I ditto what Bev said…”Take the time you need. Were right here too.” <3

Nay February 15, 2019 at 9:03 AM

Maryse–we’re here for you if you need us. Take all the time you need! {{hugs}}

Maryse February 15, 2019 at 9:10 AM

Thanks guys. Someone I was close with died yesterday, and my heart is hurting.

R. Renee February 15, 2019 at 9:35 AM

I’m so sorry for your loss Maryse. Sending love and hugs.

bev February 15, 2019 at 9:37 AM

I’m so sorry Maryse. Take care of that heart. Grief is a monster.

Jenn February 15, 2019 at 10:42 AM

So sorry Maryse-sending you love and hugs.

Tessa February 15, 2019 at 12:03 PM

Oh my gosh, *hugs* I’m so sorry, Maryse. Just take care and do what you need to do.

Thank you everyone. I love you guys so much. I just couldn’t focus on anything… I feel better today. Still sad, and heartbroken, but I’m feeling like I’m here again.
