Morning! 🙂
Good morning!
The Work Wife went live at 11:30 last night but I was fast asleep! Pretty sure I’m still asleep!
Oh YAY R!!! I’m adding it now. 😀
*Tosses glitter bomb and ALL the confetti* guess what? I hit my goal weight this morning!!! Day 50 on Keto, down 25 pounds, woot woot! I’m pretty stoked. What are we reading? I read this amazing Harry Potter fanfiction over the weekend. I’m not kidding, it was pretty dang close to a 5 star read for me. And you all know how I am *insert eye-roll here*. I also read Max Monroe’s new one that comes out Thursday, I think a lot of you will really like that one too…which reminds me I still need to write my review… I’m in the hunt now for my next book, someone hit me with a rec!
Oh, and before I forget, the challenge threads are open on the Goodreads site if anyone wants to join before Friday!
R who are you going to see at SXSW? I was looking at the kpop
(Of course) line up. Only one I know is iKON and really only one song of theirs.
https://youtu.be/QEJx1nwF1Fw
The fans are so interactive in kpop I think it would be fun to just see that. The fan chants and light sticks and such.
I am bev! The hubs couldn’t stand it and booked us a room. I haven’t even had time to check out the bands yet. But that would be fun to see some kpop! Let me know if you see any performance times. We’ll be there the 12th and 13th during the day parties. At night we’ll have to sneak in, but it wouldn’t be the first time! 😀
Well, 2 of their members featured in this Epik High song, Born Hater, which I LOVE. It’s one of those I did not care for at first and now it is on repeat all the time. Love the beat and turn table, lol.
https://youtu.be/3s1jaFDrp5M
Good morning!
Congrats on the weight loss, Grey! What an accomplishment!
Oh my gosh. I know no one in music anymore. Scrolled through some, because that is a lot, of the line up and recognized one name. Chris Staples and I only know one song. Its beautiful, especially if you’ve ever lost a parent or that type of figure.
https://youtu.be/zb-Qj6dMsOI
But still.
I’m having book add. I can’t seem to latch onto anything. My mood is all over the place, so I’m downloading a bunch of samples of different genres to see if I can find something. Even though I own enough, I should be looking through those. Fantasy/paranormal? College romance? Something with a bad boy? Something light? Something dark? Sci-fi? Something moving? BAH!!!
Also, I’ve probably asked this before, but do you put powder over your foundation? Back when I wore makeup daily, I did. But, the make up work changes as fast as technology (in my opinion) and I’ve been outta the game too long.
Tasha the only foundation I use is bare minerals powder in a very light fluff-buff around my face to just even out the tone…
Tasha!! Go for another psych-thriller. 😀 I wanna read Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone.
Thanks Maryse! Can’t wait for you guys to read it!
Bev, where did you find who’s playing? The only one I saw had no one I knew, and I think I’m pretty up to date on music. lol I think I looked in the wrong area. I didn’t see IKon or Chris Staples. Is it bad I see IKon and think Akon? 😛
Oh, Maryse, Ebba-Viva Fairisles: Dynami’s Wrath (Pirates of Felicity Book 4) by Kelly St Clare was released today. 🙂 A really wonderful PNR writer. I have read everything she’s written and book three ended on a major CH.
Whoa Tessa!! That was a mouthful. I was wondering what language you were speaking for a second. 😉 Okay I’ll add it too!! 😀
Tasha, I am the same as Maryse. I only use bare minerals powder foundation. It’s great because it’s “buildable”. Use only a little for light coverage or more for heavier coverage. You are young and have great skin (from pics I have seen) so I bet this will work well. Now that I am older I find liquid foundation too heavy/cakey and it accentuates wrinkles.
Tessa, sorry to laugh at your misery but I am still giggling at your fear of horror movies & “bastard cat”. 🙂
R., think you will run into Frankie & Darian?? 😉
That one appears to be on my tbr too, Maryse! I have some that I should read though. Maybe Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney. Or The Wife Between Us or My Husband’s Wife.
Also, I have bare minerals. I think it’s the original? In matte. But, it looks like they have other stuff too maybe I should check out.
If all goes according to plan, Frankie and Darian will be hanging out with Nay! But I’ll check out their old haunts.
Those pictures are deceiving, Leslie. I had make up on then! 😛 It could be worse, but I have problem areas on my cheeks still. Some days are bumpier than others, especially around cycle time. Really red and inflamed then. I’ve decided to update family pictures come Mother’s Day bc we haven’t in 4 years? And J will be nearly a year and it’ll be a fun surprise for the Grandma’s. But, my breakouts still annoy me so I was thinking which products I needed to update by that time. Natural is my go to, too. But since I’ve been using the liquid when I wear it, I wondered if I might do a powder over. That WAS my system, before. Also, my eyeshadow (the 2 I own) is sparkly and I want matte. And maybe something subtle for lips. I never do lips and for that, I feel it looks silly without a hint of something. Lol
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon released today. It recently came on my radar and I’m considering trying it too, for something different. Possibly, epic? But, it’s not a romance. Still the reviews I read make it sound really, really good. The biggest thing that held me back from starting is, 800+ pages. Seems so daunting!
Guess what? I was able to get KU again for .99 for 3 months!!
*happy dance*
Leslie that is an AWESOME DEAL!!!!!!
The Work Wife is KU. I downloaded that sample too. I’m not using my KU enough!!
Leslie, $0.99 for 3 months! They are practically paying you!! What a deal!
I LOVED The Work Wife!!! They had some great chemistry which led to great banter…such a good book!
Currently, I’m reading an ARC for Arrange Me which is Katy Regnery’s new one (releases 3/4). I’m a little over halfway through it…I’d probably be finished if it wasn’t for this pesky thing called work 😉 I’m enjoying it so far…the main character decides to take part in an arranged marriage through an online site where they match you up and you meet them at the wedding. Mix this with a few other twists and you have the recipe for a yummy fun book!
Did I just see that Frankie and Darian are going to be hanging out with Nay this weekend?? I’m thinking Nay may need some help “entertaining” them…I volunteer as “tribute”…
LOL Not this weekend…well maybe a little. She’s talking about SXSW, second week of March.
Apparently I pre ordered a book titled Warrior of the Wild. I have no memory of this but it looks good.
Just that the iKON is playing on Willie Nelson Boulevard is enough of a reason to walk by, lol.
Tessa I first just googled SXSW kpop but this is the whole list
https://schedule.sxsw.com/2019/artists/alpha/A
Leslie, check out Jasmin Miller’s Baking With A Rockstar. It came out a couple days ago and readers are loving it on my GR feed. I think it might be right up your alley! And the cover is adorbs!
Ooh, good deal, Leslie. The new Rachel Higginson up there is KU as well. I’m reading Lady Derring Takes a Lover, but I’ve borrowed The Something About Her, and that’s up next! Funny cover. It’s eye-catching.
Great list today, Maryse. Thank you.
YAY!! My pleasure Jean!! 😀
Bev… I still don’t know anyone but Wyclef Jean. lol Maybe I should pay attention to who the artist is on songs? I don’t know but… geesh I know some of the talkers but actually singing? Nope.
Do I need to cancel my membership to get the 99 cent deal? lol Each time, it’s like, nope. You don’t qualify!
I always got a nope I don’t qualify either. *sigh*
I just ate a cappuccino truffle from my box and it was to die for!! I won’t share.
Tasha J.
GASSSSSP!!!!!
Thanks for the recs, R. & Jan!! 🙂
I did the KU deal around Christmas time where I got 2 years for 40% off. So I definitely won’t qualify…. but now my membership is paid up for quite a while. Oh, and I posted it late last night on the Monday comments but I’ll say it again just in case… On The Island is on sale on amazon for $1.99!!! I was super excited about it last night. Also, I’m excited to try Work Wife!
Tasha–did you list anywhere what all was included in your box? And where you got it from? I missed it if you did. And I NEED to know!
Funny that Robin should mention a book that’s right up Leslie’s alley, I just now told an author friend of mine that I had a friend who was looking for books recs and I thought the series of hers that I was working with on GR would be ‘right up her alley’!
So Leslie–it’s the Night Time Television series by Jamie Schlosser and there are two books in it right now: Untamable and Untrainable. The next one, Unattainable, which is a 2nd chance romance, is coming out in the spring. They all take place in the same world, but they’re standalones.
Frankie and Darian’s room is all ready!
Thanks Nay! I got everyone’s suggestions all ready to go.
I hope I can find something that thrills me. When I’m slumping I’m extra grumpy and hard to please. Some of the previous recs have been 3rd person and I just couldn’t do them. 🙁 I’ve also been sticking to mostly audio so ebooks are a little challenging too. I need an app that can read my kindle books on my phone. I tried a few before and couldn’t get them to work with kindle.
I emailed Maryse pictures, Nay, but I can list them here too. It’s a Universal Yums box. There are different levels of boxes you can get. I got the middle size (12 snacks) and each month is a mystery as to where it comes from. They give you hints before the reveal for fun. And no repeat places for 2 years. So, this was Italy and we got Anello Gusto Pizza Rings (Pizza Funyuns basically), Orange-Carrot Buondolce (tastes like Orange hostess cake), Cuorenero Mediterranei (White chocolate with saffron), Rustichelle al Rosmarino (rosemary crackers), Froletti Al Limone Cookies (lemon cookies, Cuorenero Nocciole (milk chocolate with hazelnuts), Amarettini Cookies (crispy almond cookies), Taralli Limone e Pepe (lemon-pepper flavored wheat snack), Moretta Tiramisu, Alfredo’s Truffle chips, Effervescenti Fizzy candies, Sorini Gianduiotti (hazelnut chocolate), and Cappuccino Sorini (cappuccino cream and cereal truffles). I have sampled all of them and the ones that were my favorite are the truffle chips, cappuccino truffles, and fizzy candies. The most surprising flavor was the lemon-pepper flavored wheat snack. I think I could just keep eating those for the surprise alone. I didn’t hate anything, but the most disappointing was probably the white chocolate saffron bar. Most of the stuff didn’t taste foreign to me, I suppose. But, we snack a lot, all of us, and you get a booklet with it that describes all the snacks, things about Italy, trivia, and a recipe. And little games and a scorecard for your family that you tag Universal yums on at the end for a chance to win. The kids are really into getting to vote and smell and taste all the different things. I think it’s a great learning tool and we’ll likely do it some more fore a fun family activity.
Hey ladies!
I saw cappuccino truffle and turned green. With jealousy. I’m lime green jello right now. Although, the earl grey macaron I had a few days ago has me wanting to drive the 45 minutes to buy some more…
I love Bare Minerals Mineral Veil during the summer to set all the cra…er, product I put on my face.
Yay for Work Wife! I’ve been waiting for that one. My last read was a flop (I skimmed it so I wouldn’t have yet another DNF!) but I’m hopeful this one will get me out of this slump I seem to be in. 😀
Tasha…what colors are you looking at for eyeshadow? Neutral, warm, cool, pinks, browns, taupes? I have a slew of recs for matte shadows. And for lip colors.
Oh lord, she’s going to get me going here on makeup…
Yessssssssss!!!!! I love Amy’s makeup and tips!!! 😀 I still have to finish that one post… it became a monster. I think I will separate it out in pieces. One day… lipstick
next day, foundation… etc etc…
Whatd’yall think? And I’ll make a menu option that is reviews& tips for other stuff
OH! I forgot you were going to do a post like that…how FUN!
I think it sounds perfect to separate it out in pieces according to cosmetic type and then have a menu option. Eye makeup, skin care, foundation/powder, blush/contour, brushes, lippies…we have so much to share! 😀
Good idea on the mineral veil, Amy. I love the look and feel of that stuff. I’ve never thought to mix products though. I’m gonna experiment on my face in the coming weeks. I currently have Queen Tiffany bare minerals eyeshadow and I think bare skin. It’s the loose powder and there’s too much shimmer for me. So, I suppose I like browns and neutrals more. No blue!! My skin tone is beige if that helps. And I believe I bought a lip color from there years ago in Sangaria that I really liked. I wish they had a tinted chapstick. Lol!
I love that idea, Maryse. I’ve gone back to that post a few times, and I love all the ideas on there, but there are so many it’s a little overwhelming.
Maryse, do you use the bare minerals primer before applying? I’m wondering if I should get more if I do use that. It’s almose gone, just a little sample bottle.
Also, Tasha…what color are your eyes? That will influence my recs.
Leslie–I listen to all my audiobooks on my phone. Are these audible books (through kindle)? If so, you just need the audible app on your phone (and make sure your phone is registered on your Amazon account with your other device(s) like your kindle. I also listen to my Libby audiobooks on my phone through their app.
Does this help? Or are you talking about something totally different?
Tasha–that sounds so awesome! One of the YouTubers I watch from time to time reviewed a couple of boxes like that, but they were all Japanese snacks. I’m going to look into it! Thanks for listing all of it!
Maryse–I would LOVE the make-up thing! And tips for makeup for mature skin would be wonderful! Just putting that out there! 😉
Blue eyes
Ooh, blue eyes! This is gonna to be fun. *rubs hands together*
Give me a little bit and I’ll post some recs. Adulting is calling me its b!tch right now. 🙄
I’m excited! It’s like you’re my own personal make up consultant and I don’t even have to go in store to do it!! I HATE asking the people for help.
I haven’t read anything today, I’ve been busy, busy, busy and I’m starting to feel ready for bed already. I’ve been cooking up a storm lately since everyone got over the bug and J refuses to eat baby food now. Yay he’s eating good, healthy food (he’ll now eat veggies if I cook them, never in baby food), but I’m really tired of the excess cooking already. AND! I made and ate gnocchi for the 1st time tonight. They’re like pillowy balls of heaven. 🙂 It was chicken bacon gnocchi and the easiest, tasty dish ever! Also, the least amount of dishes so far this week.
Sorry Nay, I wasn’t very clear. I meant an app that does “text to speech” so it will read me my kindle ebooks. I know Alexa reads them but I cant figure out how to do that on my phone. I know there are text to speech apps, but any that I tried dont seem to work with kindle books.
Now I just love this song. I love Taemin’s dancing and Koharu Sugawar’s choreography. It’s just fun. They did move too. This is one of the music show’s comeback stages. A comeback is what it is called any time a group or solo artist release a new album or mini album. The fireworks kind of cover up my favorite part, but you can hear the fan chants and see some light sticks. Groups have their own light sticks and colors.

Work Wife was great!!!! I read it in a day/night. Slow burn, chefs, taboo as in he’s engaged!!!!!!!! It checked a lot of boxes for me. Really well done.
Good Morning-Hope everyone is having a great morning.
WOW Grey just saw your weight loss posted up there and that is truly amazing. Congratulations!
Loving all the make up talk; I have been struggling trying to find a new mascara since my go-to was discontinued. I have tried many and am just about ready to give up.
So uh Amy I could use some help with that. 🙂
On a previous thread I had mentioned that my mom and I have a date together this weekend to watch “A Star Is Born” when I watched it in theater opening weekend she could not go so she has not seen it but I just found out the best news ever…THEY ARE SHOWING FOR 1 WEEK ONLY AN ENCORE “A STAR IS BORN” IN THEATERS STARTING THIS FRIDAY. With 12 minutes of new footage not shown in the original. So my mom and I are going to watch in theater instead of at home on my tv. Can’t wait! This just made my day!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARYSE’S BLOG!!!! <3
Happy blog birthday!!! *Tosses birthday glitter* woot woot! So exciting!!!
And thanks ladies, I am pretty stoked myself. I just keep telling myself, I got this!
Released late last night was Max Monroe’s new one ~ The Girl in the Painting…I read that one a few days ago…it was quite good.
So what are we reading? Tomorrow is March…holy cow!!! Which means we can talk best of February. For me, no contest. Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas.
My crockpot broke. After I loaded it all up with soup, it refuses to heat. *grrrrrr*
Tasha I would be lost without my crockpot. When my ceramic insert cracked, I went on Crockpots website to just order a new insert (about $10) and they don’t make my model anymore. BUT!!! I was lucky enough that they had a very close insert match from another model still for sale. So I ordered THAT and it works!
I could have just gotten a new crockpot considering how inexpensive they are but my mommy bought me that one and I didn’t want to throw it away since the main part was still perfectly functional.
AND!! I use the original cracked ceramic insert to grow herbs in, outside. Never overwaters ’cause it all leaks out of the crack.
Best of Feb, Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas. Yeah, that took absolutely no thought for me. 🙂
Oh if it hadn’t been Kill Switch, next Wicked King.
Yes, I read two books this month that were perfect for me.
My best of February was The Silent Patient.
My best of February was my best of the year so far, The Lost Husband by Katherine Center!
And today’s the day? Happy blog birthday!!!
Today? Happy Birthday Maryse’s Blog!
OMG YESSSSS!!! How did I forget? My head is in the clouds!! Well actually, in a book right now, and I didn’t even see the day. SQUEEEEE!!
Happy 10th birthday to my wonderful blog that I love, and to all of the readers that are here with us (lurkers, and commenters alike). I LOVE OUR GROUP!!!
Happy Birthday to Maryse’s Blog!! Woo Hoo! So grateful for the group! I love it too Maryse!!
Best of February was definitely Kill Switch & The Wicked King! I’m not going to choose between them! Loved them both!!
Jenn, good to see you back!
LisafromDFW – Love that you enjoyed The Work Wife too!!
The Work Wife… where did this come from?
Is this an arc you all got and are reviewing?
I have to read The Cruel Prince. I dont know why I keep putting it off.
My feb favorites are Romance is a Bonus Book and Taemin’s Want.
Books were …..ok, so far. If I was done with Lake Silence or Devil’s Daughter they’d probably take top place.
bev–The Work Wife is a romcom that just released, but a few people had ARCs.
HAPPY BLOG BIRTHDAY!!!!
Happy Blog Birthday!!
We need cake.
I’d love birthday macarons! That’s what I’m asking for for my birthday this year instead of cake.
I was trying so hard to grow my hair out…..but now I want to cut it off again, lol.
I keep seeing all these cute bobs pop up and I love a bob.
So I like my hair I do, but when I see those choppy or straight or slightly wavy chin bobs I get slightly jealous, lol.
I just love them.

Me too Bev. Though I prefer a bit longer, like a lob. In April I will have successfully gone an entire year without cutting my hair. Not even a little trim. And restraining myself has been hard. I don’t even really like my hair long, but I’m gonna try to grow it out more just to see what it would be like and because it’ll feel so good to chop it right off. Lol
Happy Blog Birthday!! I’m so thankful for this group and for you, Maryse, for creating this awesome space.
Hey, it’s FLT day. I forgot. Also, I almost never have one. But, I’m trying this one- “I trace the outline of my sister’s drawing, lungs molded from a sea of flowers.” Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott
*wish me luck, I’m having trouble sticking with things still
FLT
“I’ll not sacrifice gypsies to be immortal,” Vance is saying to Arion, who is half out of his mind, eyes wide.
Gypsy Origin by Kristy Cunning
My best of Feb without a doubt was Devil’s Daughter by Lisa Kleypas (a brand new historical romance). *happy sigh* I’m already jonesing for the next book in the series, which I guess won’t be out till 2020. LOL.
My FLT is also a brand new historical romance. Ha ha ha. Overall I’ve mainly been reading CRs so far this year, believe it or not.
FLT: Lady Derring had been raised to believe breeding and manners were a bulwark against all of life’s vicissitudes.
From Lady Derring Takes A Lover by Julie Anne Long. I’m quite enjoying it, but not as much as Devil’s Daughter. Still, Long is a good writer and she knows how to deliver a funny line.
I have 5 books in my currently reading on GR. I am determined to finish, read, or dnf them in March.
Plus, a new Briggs and Bishop are coming out this next week.
Can I do 7 books in a month? I haven’t done that in around 2 years.
FLT: There was no such thing as London fog—never had been. The Siren by Tiffany Reisz
This is my PFM challenge book, courtesy of Grey! I think it’s safe to say I won’t finish before March! But I’m beginning to really like it. It was slow to start and I did a lot of skimming. And is it bad that I’m kind of obsessed with Wesley? Grey recommended it because I love American Queen so much, so of course I have it all worked out in my head how I want this to go… 😀
bev, in Australia the new Mercy Thomson book isn’t out till May 🙁
You are right it is May. For years her and Anne Bishop would release in March and usually on the same day.
FLT: ~ “Show your boobs now!” Love By Pranks by Sunniva Dee. 😆 *dead* Literally have read no further than the first line…
FLT:
“I hate numbers.”
Rapture by N.N. Britt
This is an ARC of a dark rockstar romance that’s coming out on 3/14. N.N. Britt is a photograper and journalist in the ‘business’ and you can tell that she knows what she’s writing about. It’s also her debut (surprisingly) and I’m loving it! No pre-order on Amazon though. 🙁
Bev, Brigg’s husband passed away last year, so it (for obvious reasons) delayed the release this year.
