These gave me blurb jolts, too: 99 Percent Mine: A Novel by Sally Thorne (I loved her book, “The Hating Game” and this one sounds awesome too… she’s crushing on her twin’s best friend), Hollywood Playboy by Natasha Madison (she hates being an entertainment journalist and now she has to go on tour with this arrogant jerk!), Anton: A Chicago Blaze Hockey Romance by Brenda Rothert (oh oh!!! He’s in love with his teammate’s wife!!), Rescued by Scarlett Finn (she’s the only survivor of a plane crash, in the wilderness alone, and then she’s kidnapped!!), Catastrophe Queen by Emma Hart (her life is a mess, and then she gets a job… “…Ahem. On paper, my job is easy…”) LOL!!!, AND OMG THIS ONE!!! Not a Hero by Cherise Sinclair (Moody police chief & the new girl in town who’s in hiding!! “…As Audrey learns to survive in Rescue, she begins to fall for the town…and the intimidating chief of police who protects it….”)
And SO many more that sound good, so I highlighted them below.

Attachments: A Novel by Rainbow Rowell <— RAINBOW ROWELL SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! SHY GUY “INTERNET SECURITY OFFICER” reads his colleagues emails!! “…When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. He can’t help being entertained, and captivated, by their stories. But by the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself…“
Diane: finished Attachments- I really liked it, I just love her voice and I can’t get enough of the dialogue & inner thoughts.
Jackie: Attachments…that was one great AUDIO read. The narrator really does a great job with this book. And since much of this book is in email format, it’s a great format when you have 10 or 15 minutes to stop and start.
MVP by Rachel Van Dyken <— Just released yesterday & WE HAVE FEEDBACK!! Jenn LOVED it!
Jenn: Good Morning! So I read MVP yesterday and trust me when I tell you plan two hours when you want to start this because you will not want to stop. And what I was surprised about with it being so short it did not leave me wanting more; I was content where it ended!
This book needs to be made into a movie-It was emotional for sure but there were funny moments as well. Just a very sweet emotional touching story.
Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy <— IF YOU LOVE TIJAN… Dani recommends it!!
Dani: Wow. Love this book! Ok, If you like Tijan then you’re going to love Meagan Brandy. Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy has the same feel as the Fallen Crest High series. The main character is badass and jaded and she slowly worms her way into the good graces of three powerful male students who run the school and the town.
It’s well written and seriously epic. I just finished reading it and now I can’t wait for the second book. I’m not sure how I missed this new release (it came out on 1/15). But it’s already has a ton of 5 star reviews and boy did it earn them.
Be the Girl by K.A. Tucker <— ONE OF MY FAV AUTHORS & WE HAVE FEEDBACK on her latest!!
Melinda: I just finished reading Be that Girl. By K.A Tucker anything written by her is an instant one click. It’s a Bully book about a teenage girl. It is so good. Def 5 stars for me.
- Collaboration by Michelle Lynn <— An oldie but goodie!! This one is from back in 2014 but Sarah just read it and LOVED it! P.S. I found some old comments from readers recommending this one too! HOLY MOLY how’d I miss it?
Sarah: I love Collaboration by Michelle Lynn. It was my first read in this genre and I loved it. A rapper and a country singer made for a really interesting read.
Jennifer: Hi Maryse! Have you seen Collaboration by Michelle Lynn and Nevaeh Lee? I bought it on a whim and it was a great read!
Sheri: I second what Jennifer said about Collaboration! It’s a refreshingly different “rockstar” romance, both spicy & sweet, and Trace is my new #1 book boyfriend. But I might be willing to share… 😉
Kim: I ‘ve read Collaboration great read!!! You should give it a try!!!
Broadway Beans by Karen Cimms <—KAREN CIMMS ALERT! RECENT RELEASE from last week!!! Good find Traci! I’ll add it in now. 😀
I want to one click the Emma Hart book just for the cover! The trend where dudes are actively removing their shirts on covers, no matter where they happen to be, cracks me up. This one is priceless!
I love that cover too, R! I love all of her latest book covers. You just know you’ll be snorting!!
And good morning! Going back to sleep now!
Good Morning!
Now I want a book and it comes out tomorrow…YAY! I do believe it is up for pre-order The Executive by K.I. Lynn-can not wait.
Currently I am reading a book I got for free Pennies by Pepper Winters and anybody else interested it is still free. 🙂
Jenn!! OMG THAT COVER on The Executive!! I added it to the list. Thank you!!!
R-so glad you made it back safe and sound.
I am so with you Maryse on that cover; the first time I saw this cover I did not even notice the woman’s hands-it wasn’t till maybe the 3rd time of drooling over it I noticed and than said OMG too 🙂
I had lots of drama yesterday and need to get caught up.
Maryse, I died laughing over you sleeping with lights & tv on. Also funny you say rotisserie chix “easy”. I find it more work to take meat off bone. I started cooking boneless breast in crock pot and shred it.
Jenn, I love the real life romance for your sister. Thanks for the Winter Renshaw rec. I’m really only doing audiobooks right now but I have several of hers on my TBR.
Michele, I really liked Let’s Get Textual.
Belvida cookies? Yum. Deep Fried Oreos? Yum yum. I love all the cookies.
I’m feeling slightly slump-ish. I’ve tried several audiobooks I couldn’t get into because 3rd person POV, horrible narration or storyline I didn’t like.
well that sucks Leslie that “Pricked” does not have audio version because I really feel like you will love it. And so sorry about your drama filled day yesterday. I hope today is better for you. 🙂 *hugs* *passes Leslie all the cookies*
Leslie, let’s buddy 99 Percent Mine!! I’m really into Chalk Man, but I’ve been waiting and waiting and it’s here! I just sat down for nap so I have almost an hour to read. Such a freakin busy life, I tell you- give me lazy days!
I’m confused!!! For Kristen Ashley (my favorite) and so excited for this book!!! BUT didn’t Rush already have a book? It was with Teagan, the red he’d girl with dreadlocks? Or am I’m confusing him with someone else?
Maryse, what are you reading? Wasn’t to buddy read The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides when it releases next week with me?? 😀
I’m having trouble sticking with reading, but peer pressure always works and I’ll feel guilty if I’ve set to something with someone and don’t follow through. Haha
I’m at 83% on Idol by kristen callihan and then I’m reading Free! I put 99 Percent Mine on hold at the library and it says 6 months (!!!!!!) before it’s available! I have plenty to read so if that is the case it will be a nice surprise come summer!
I agree on the covers. I like the hot guys but there are books where the authors could have been so much more creative.
*tosses glitter* Dunkin screwed up my coffee this morning. So irritated.
Renee~
I just saw your comment on the other thread about LP. No I have not heard the other stuff but will look it up. I’m outside of Tampa, going to see her in St Augustine at the end of Feb.. I’ve lived in FL my whole life and have never been there so I’m making a weekend out of it. My oldest friend is going with me so it should be a great time.
Would you believe that I didn’t love The Hating Game? *hangs head in shame* So 99% Mine is not on my radar.
OMG. I started reading Boys of Brayshaw High last night and am loving it so much I was gonna jump on here and tell y’all to read it! I haven’t gotten to more FC yet, but total bully book. But if it comes out also FC like? *squeeees* I can see that happening because Raven is awesome and well, so far the boys are jerks. Lol
Grey! See! ^^^ Bully and KU
HELP! Anyone with KU can you tell me if this happens to you???
You know how if there is headphone icon that you are supposed to get audio for free? I have had several that show the headphone but when I open book on Kindle app the audible version isn’t free!?! Grrrr
Jenn, I just read MVP yesterday and the story was SO GOOD! I had all the feels! I just wish it was about 2 chapters longer.
“I’m already walking out. No sugar? Why is life just about giving things up? What have I even got left that I enjoy? The heavy-sigh feeling inside me gets worse. Sadder. I pause at the door.” From 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne. This had me laughing so hard. It’s how I felt when I read Maryse’s “When I used to eat cookies…comment” This is from a hilarious sugar addiction scene. I am also an addict and I relate. LOL
LOL Tasha!!!!
Oh yes. And then stupid Facebook showed me Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies and almost made me combust!!! My TWO favorite cookies, in ONE.
https://www.simplemost.com/oreo-stuffed-chocolate-chip-cookies-recipe/
Omg Maryse! If you look up “slutty brownies” on Pinterest, you will die. It’s a layer of cookie dough, Oreos and brownies. It’s a threesome, so it’s slutty. Hee hee
Leslie M
Ohhhhhhhh WOOOOWWWWWWW
*thud*
YUM!! <3
*side-eyes everyone* I may not be held liable for my actions if y’all keep talking about food…
GREY! See comment!
The food posts are killing me…but yet I am living vicariously through them…dreaming of three way brownies or something…whatever Leslie mentioned up there. Oh yeah, slutty brownies! If only…
Oh and the book list looks great too Maryse!! 😉
I saw Tessa, I will have to read fast. My KU is done super soon.
I posted in Maryse’s Meeting Place forum on GR in “General – Anything and Everything” but thought I’d mention here as well. CJ Martin is making an ARC list for The Work Wife if you’re interested.
All this cookie and brownie talk is making me hungry.
I’ve already started Not A Hero, and so far liking it. I cnf’ed The Hating Game, so I’m not going to try the new Sally Thorne just yet. Will try HG again some time.
Will read the new KA book cos I did enjoy some of the others in that series. (Motorcycle Man yay!) Lately I don’t enjoy her books as much as I used to, but I’m keeping an open mind on Free.
Great list today Maryse. As well as Free and Not a hero, I’m going to check out Collaboration, Broadway beans, and maybe Hollywood Playboy. I’m a sucker for the going-on-tour-with-bad-boy-star trope, but sadly the books don’t always turn out as good as I hope. But WE’LL SEE!
Leslie – I have KU. The headphones just mean an audio version is available. Rarely ever free. Boo.
KA’s latest – it’s 3.99, and I still like that series, so CLICK.
I just finished Dirty Headlines, by LJ Shen. 4 stars. She really knows how to write that jerk-face alpha I love to hate.
Making Tasha’s cube steak tomorrow!! 🙂
MichelleS, I thought I had sorted my KU search to “KU with free narration”. But I guess not since a handful of them were not free. However, I have been able to find some.
Yay, I hope you like them. My daughter actually requests them she likes them so much, it’s the only steak she’ll eat.
I’m finally back into my book. I love Sally’s writing. I wanna soak it all up, it goes too fast though.
Chris it’s a different series. Your thinking of Deuce’s son. Oh, who was the author of those books?
Oh wow, Collaboration, I remember reading that back in about 2014 and really enjoying it!
So excited for 99% Mine! BUT I’m still trying to make the most of my Kindle Unlimited subscription – reading all the free books lol. Reading Ryan’s Bed by Tijan (from 2018) at the moment – really good!
I’ve just clicked 4 books. Tessa your recommendation. I love bully books.
Right Grey? ;). Kirsten Ashley love everything she writes.
If I click anymore I’m never going to get round to finishing. But my excuse is. It’s for the plane flight. 🙂
So excited that Kristen Ashley’s book Free is finally out! This is the final one in her Chaos Series….so sad. This week I’ve re-read all the previous books in this series, and I just started the second to last one. My eyeballs are sore, cause she writes looooong books. Can’t wait to dive in to Free.
Please let us know what you think of it, Northernstar!!! WOW on the whole series re-read!!
All this talk about Kristen Ashley and yet another year gone by and here I am still a KA virgin. 🙂
JennC-I just saw you are reading “Ryan’s Bed” I read that towards the end of 2018 and LOVED it!
I am making a vow today to not talk about that four letter word that starts with F…*you know the one* because I went home yesterday and everything I ate was…wait what did Tasha call it…oh yes *Trashy*
Not today sister not today. 🙂
Do you all ever read your chinese horoscopes for the new year or any thing like that?
absolutely I do Bev-I’m an OX…”no shame in my game” and today a part of mine says…
“Let friendship take priority.” And so here I am 🙂
I’m an OX also!!!! I love all horoscopes and mystical stuff. SO FUN!!!
I’m never sure how much I believe, but last year I read Lainey’s mom’s predictions for my sign that year.
This is an explanation of how her mom plays it out. Basically she tells you what you need to watch out for. If you scroll down.

Thank you Bev!
How fun Bev!! I’m also a goat! Apparently I may see some financial gain this year. Yay me! That means I can purchase even more books!!
Alright, Boys of Brayshaw was AWESOME! I have to wait for spring for the next book, but OMG. It’s everything i love in a NA. Bullies, great secondary characters, and the familial feelings. (so right about the Fallen Crest type) SQUEEEE!
Also, finally got into a tv show, The Passage. I’m loving it. Very well written and keeps me on my toes. 🙂
I’m a fire dragon. 😀
How do you figure this out… when I had looked at this before, I seem to be remember being a sheep. But I think according to this I’m a goat? I like blankie forrts and glitter and bad boy bullies, does that help? 😆
Gah, I want an edit button too…
Goat/sheep are the same. Ours looks pretty good this year. Keep our tempers, focus, and stay humble.
And like she said her mom just stresses the things to prepare for because good luck is always welcome.
Dragon. Says very lucky this year, especially after last year not being so.
https://www.laineygossip.com/the-squawking-chickens-year-of-the-pig-zodiac-for-the-dragon-and-intro-for-january-25-2019/51811?categoryId=1017
Ooh. Could be some weddings and babies in the future for dragons.
Grey, I feel your pain. Our fingers just hit that Submit button too fast and then we see it…the glaring typo!
Tessa, I like The Passage too. They have changed it from the book and that was really bugging me at first. That said, I’ve learned to accept that they’ve taken a lot of liberties with the storyline and am enjoying it more because I don’t necessarily “know for sure” what will happen next.
The Passage is coming to free-to-air tv here soon. I liked the book, but I understand changes often have to be made from book to tv so will keep an open mind. I really like the Bosch TV series even though there’s many changes from my beloved books. But it’s still kept the same ‘feel’. Hopefully The Passage will be like that.
I’m a monkey. LOL. Or some sites say a fire monkey. (I don’t know whether that’s better or worse). It’s not what I imagined myself as. Ha ha ha.
Finished 99%… stayed up way too late, did nothing today either and it was awesome!!! So completely different than THG, but still Sally’s amazing voice, slow burn AND made me fall for a totally not my type hero.
And Tessa, reading Brayshaw now, eeek!!! Thank you for the rec! I’m loving it more than FC, actually! 🙂
Just saw that Cat Porter has her LOCK & KEY SERIES 4 books on sale today for only $0.99. A good deal.
Jan, she will do monkey tomorrow.
Glad to hear about 99%. It was a pre order for me. I read a review that really liked it but mentioned a slightly more serious tone than THG.
Tasha, insane right? Gah, so much I absolutely want in a book.
Ok I need TASHA’S cube steak recipe please.
THE PASSAGE on tv is so different than books. But still very good for a series. You really need to read 3 book series which spans a couple of centuries.
JENN..I thought we made a deal (if this is the right Jenn/Jen). I read a Colleen Hoover book, Hopeless, which was very good, and you were supposed to read a Kristin Ashley. You are letting me down.
Here it is JulieO- https://www.thecountrycook.net/crock-pot-cubed-steak-with-gravy/
TASHA…thank you. Looks yummy. Sounds like something I used to make but put in oven. Crockpot will be so much easier. I love crockpots!
MARYSE…. I don’t bother with Rotisserie chickens anymore either. I buy a couple packages of fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts (approx 6 or 7) and cook in crockpot with a small amount of chicken broth. After done I have quite a bit of chicken that I divide up and put in ziplock bags and into freezer that is very handy for quick meals. Chicken turns out very tender. Also keep the chicken broth to use in recipes.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE EASY CROCKPOT RECIPES…
-ekrich smoked sausage
-onion
-carrots. I use baby carrots
-potatoes. 2 or 3 baking size
-fresh or canned mushrooms
Slice up sausage into coins. Cut up onion and potatoes into bite size pieces and put all ingredients in crockpot with 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and cook on low all day or high half a day.
This is a recipe you can adapt for your family. Add or take away what ever you want. I always serve with a loaf of French bread because the gravy is good.
Our grocery store started selling cartons of shredded (or pieces) of chicken breast. It’s soooo much easier than pulling apart a rotisserie and you don’t have to cook it. This is how ours looks. I buy it every week! https://bit.ly/2RroJfx
R are you going to SXSW this year?
Oh, yum! I’m adding that recipe to my queue JulieO! That’s about the 3rd time I’ve heard someone mention that chicken prep trick in the crockpot. I’ve GOT to get on that, it’ll make my day to day so much easier!!
Also, I read in the comments on that crockpot recipe, someone uses tomato sauce and mozzarella on cube steaks with garlic bread- TOTALLY doing that next!
I don’t think so. First time in forever! We’re planning to move and I want to finish my book and that just seems to be in the way. I don’t think I’d enjoy it. :-/
And FYI… there’s a scene in Riders where Frankie makes fun of cube steak, but ONLY when it comes to breading and frying it because neither she, nor I, knew it could be done in a crock pot! Please forgive us both! 😀
I’ll definitely be trying it! I loveeeee steak and gravy!
I have a terrible headache and can’t sleep, probably too much screen time trying to read these last cpl days. And I have this homemade headache oil, for super bad headaches, and I dk what the heck these ppl put in it, but it feels like my skin is burning off every time I use it. Straight fire. I used to wanna cry, now I crave the burn. I think it’s purpose is to tell my brain to direct the pain elsewhere and that’s what actually makes the headache go away.
OMG Tasha that sounds miserable. I don’t often get headaches so I have nothing except the usual sleep and water, but if you can’t sleep that’s pointless. :-/
I love it, cube steak jokes in the next book! 😀 Honestly, I didn’t know about the crockpot either and have never been a fan of it (cube steak, not the crockpot). I hadn’t eaten it in years, but pintrest always knows what I need.
It seems so random! I already knew I was probably alienating anyone outside the US but with the latest posts I was like oh crap! But I feel anyone who has ever made chicken fried steak with cube steak will get me and this is a nod to them! (As I sit over here with my crockpot of cube steak and gravy!).
I go straight to the Excedrin or Excedrin migraine.
I’ve always like chicken fried steak with big mound of mashed potatoes and gravy.
I miss mashed potatoes and gravy….
I never used to get them like I do until after J. Babies always mess with the body in one way or another. But, so worth it! I took Tylenol too, cuz that’s the only med. I can take,it doesn’t ever seem to work for me anymore though. Hoping I can sleep it off here soon!
I’m a horse.
So many great books up there, and I can’t wait to read Free either! Anything with Tack Allen and I’m there! I’m also going to give Boys of Brayshaw High a go.
I’m reading Look the Part right now, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think it’s going to be a ‘not my cuppa’ simply because the heroine is annoying me. I’m going to keep going to make sure–hoping I’ll warm up to her because I SO want to love this!
I liked the h in Look The Part, but it happens. Sometimes you just don’t connect with the characters. I hear you, Nay.
Nay, don’t feel bad. I didn’t love any of Jewel Ann’s books. *holds up peanut deflector * But…I have a big fat smile on my face because I feel like I’m sitting at cool kids table because I know who Tack Allen is!! *grins*
The cube steak was delish. It passed the hubs test too. Yay!! I love a new food win.
I’m glad it was a winner, Leslie. 🙂
Good Morning 😉
I had kind of a bad day yesterday so the book I was dying to start “The Executive” by K.I Lynn did not happen…..but I started this morning and it sucked me right in. Didn’t want to stop-sadly though I am at work now and I had to…damn job!
FLT:
It was going to be a good day.
The Executive by K.I. Lynn
I’m glad your day is better Jenn!!! 😀
FLT:
I wasn’t her, and I hadn’t been her since the day I left Kentucky.
Never is a Promise by Winter Renshaw
What’s the deal with chicken fried steak? I’ve only eaten this out and holy yumminess is it good.
Right?? Delicious, but the name is so confusing…
Maryse thank you, nothing life shattering but we had very bad weather yesterday-white out conditions-could not see and I was stuck on expressway for 3 hours-temp. was -3 deg and with the windchill it was anywhere from -25 to -30 so I could not turn my car off or I would have froze; but than didn’t want to run out of gas either…the struggle was REAL and SCARY. I was STRESSED more than anything because I just wanted to be home safe and warm with my fur-babies and instead I was a sitting duck. But Yes today definitely better-still bitter cold but the sun is shining “Wishing for Sunny Days” sorry I am channeling my inner Dylan from “When Ashes Fall” 🙂
Awe yes, I kept the vow I made yesterday and did not talk about food but today is a NEW day and now I want country chicken fried steak with the white gravy…I probably have not had this in 20 years 🙁 I forgot how good it was. Mashed potatoes-YUM too-my favorite mashed potatoes are using the the red skinned potatoes and leave the skin on them and than add garlic, milk and butter….HEAVEN!
Jenn for one moment I got super excited. I was all….what Dylan song is that?? But no, you were not talking about Bob Dylan.
I would love a bit of your snow but to wish you sunny days one of my most favorite songs. Gah….I love that opening guitar.
https://youtu.be/xUNqsfFUwhY
Bev!!! That is one of my all time fave songs but it makes me weepy.
It makes you weepy? It’s one of my favorite happy songs, lol.
The one, I love, makes me a bit sad is:
https://youtu.be/YBcdt6DsLQA
Nay’s horse.
https://www.laineygossip.com/the-squawking-chickens-year-of-the-pig-zodiac-for-the-horse-and-intro-for-january-29-2019/51842?categoryId=1017
Bev, another one of my faves. I get wicked weepy with music. Which is why I don’t listen to it much. It could be a sad cry, happy cry or bittersweet cry.
The only songs that dont make me melancholy are ones like this: https://youtu.be/mBTpl8vnOO0
I see. That’s why music is so amazing.
One more sun song. This album makes me feel all the feels but this song is just turn it up on a sunny day sing along.
https://youtu.be/TiCxqhu9cio
I have a constant craving for chicken fried steak that never really goes away. And they even serve it for breakfast here with eggs and home fries instead of mashed potatoes. Ok now I’m going to start texting the hubs pics so he’ll take me to get some…
FLT: The first time I took a photograph with my aunt’s camera I was seven years old and head over heels in love with what I held in my hands. A Girl Like Lilac by Victoria L. James
Loving this book!!
Bev, your fave song (that makes you sad) is one of my faves too! It’s a sentimental song…there’s just no way around it!
Ok, now regarding the great cube steak debate. R., do not feel badly for your dislike or misunderstanding of “the cube steak.” I apparently suffer from the same affliction. I was scarred at a young age, growing up in the South where EVERYTHING was dipped in flour and fried! I haven’t eaten, or tried to eat it, in years. That said, I think I’m going to have to try Tasha’s little slowcooker recipe…it’s calling me.
Jenn, I am SOO sorry you were stuck on the highway! That’s incredibly scary with the temperatures that low! I’m glad you’re ok!!
So, for my fantasy lovers out there, I just finished Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep. It was soooo good! It’s the first in a new series by her and has a really strong cast of characters. I listened to the audiobook and it was outstanding! I think the second book is due out later this year and I can’t wait!
Oh, I forgot my FLT:
From the Prologue:
“Jude lifted the heavy practice sword, moving into the first stance – – readiness.”
From chapter 1:
“The new High King of Faerie lounges on his Throne, his crown resting at an insouciant angle, his long, villainously scarlet cloak pinned at his shoulders and sweeping the floor.”
The Wicked King by Holly Black
OH YES! The audio hit my library account last night! Woo Hoo for me!!!
Michele there are a lot of places around here that sub thin boneless rib eye for cube steak and that’s what I do when I make it (and what Frankie does). That’s my preference but I’ll still eat CFS any way I can get it!
Bev-I was actually talking about “Dylan Cole” who was one of the H’s in the book “When Ashes Fall” as he would say “Wishing For A Sunny Day” but love all the music you posted-thank you definitely needed to hear “Here Comes The Sun” so thank you so much!
Leslie- Music makes me feel deep within; goosebumps, chills, tears, it’s all there for me but that is all the more reason why I listen to it all day long at work (except for when I am sneaking around and reading). I love how music makes me feel; happy or sad doesn’t matter! Which is why for 4 months straight I listen to the soundtrack of “A Star Is Born” at least once a day. I related so much to the h’s character in the movie so the songs just get me right in the feels 🙂
Jenn, *hugs* I saw that on the news last night. My brother was off yesterday or he would have been right in the thick of that, and I have friends that were working in it (police officers in the area), I’m glad you’re home safe now.
Today is the last day for sign-ups for the Pick-for-Me Challenge on the Goodreads site, if anyone is interested…it’s always a lot of fun. There are other challenges too, if you’re feeling froggy!
FLT: Walk Away. ~ Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy.
Thanks Michele and Grey 🙂
And now that it aired last night I can talk about it; Not sure if any of you live in Minnesota but if so the wall that is being installed at the stadium was built by the company I work for. If you are interested you can click the link below. And by the way during the video behind George for a split second you will see a office with empty chair that is my office which I quickly vacated when they got there 🙂
https://www.whec.com/news/small-business-spotlight-green-living-technologies/5227964/?cat=565
That’s so scary Jenn! I can’t even imagine weather that cold!
I fogot to mention you can see pics of my fur-babies on the window in my office-not very well due to the distance away from it they are but definitely there. 🙂
Jenn, that is so cool!!!
R., Thanks for the tip about the boneless rib eye. I can definitely get behind that 😉
R-the worst thing about this weather is my dogs. Can’t walk them and they barely can stand even being outside long enough to go potty before they are shaking and whining but thankfully we are going to be in the 40’s this weekend and I will be able to take them on a long walk. Such weird weather, go from negative numbers to the 40’s such a swing in a matter of days.
Thanks Michele-I know I absolutely love the walls and can’t wait for the final pictures of the one being installed at Target field.
FLT:
“Heidi gave me a son and then I killed her.”
Look the Part by Jewel Ann
I’m still reading. Want to give it a fair chance, and I’m liking the h somewhat better.
Jenn–OMG what I scary thing to have to go through! So glad that you’re okay! You must have been counting the minutes while watching the gas gauge!
My son was out of school yesterday and today because of ‘windchill’. It *is* cold here, but nothing like what some of you are experiencing. The school officials in TN are just weenies. I’m happy for my son, though!
Thanks for the horse link, bev. Mine is my editing life exactly–once I get started, I’m bad at finding “rest and balance”–but I’m trying to do better.
Jenn
You work for an interesting company. Had never heard of that but was impressed. I’m a horticulture graduate from long ago.
OMG, Jenn. *sends heat to the east coast* I saw that on the news too and was beyond words. Stay safe in that weather. The news said you weren’t supposed to leave the house! eek
LeslieM, random fact (thank you southern dad) – originally they didn’t bread and fry anything but chicken. So, when someone went to do that to a steak, people were kind of confused. So, they called it “chicken fried” steak, aka fried like you do chicken. /ends random fact
YAY! Grey is finally reading Brayshaw!
FLT::
Hundreds of candles glowed from the ballroom’s gothic chandeliers, casting soft, amber light on the crowd below.
Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost
Pretty good but I just started. It’s already better than the last one. The third book was a little heavy and travelly. lol My new made-up word. Where there is an inordinate amount of time traveling in a book or movie that seems like it could have been cut out because it’s so dull and NOTHING HAPPENS. -see, Lord of the Rings. 🙂
Jenn, so glad you got out of there safely. What a frightening experience. *shudders* And here we are in south eastern Australia having such a hot January it broke the records! Crazy old world.
FLT: August, Twelve Years Ago. A sixteen-year-old girl stares out the window of her mother’s beat up Dodge.
From Fireworks by Sarina Bowen. I’m finally up to the last one in the True North series. This one has a dual storyline that jumps back and forward in time, not a writing structure I particularly like. You keep getting pulled out of the story. But I do like H and h.
Tessa-Thank you and that travel ban warning was not for the county I live in (Monroe) or the county I work in (Wayne) and when I left work yesterday although bitter cold the sun was shining-I live 45 minutes west of where I work and the further west I drove it just detoriated from there. None of our schools even closed yesterday but they all closed today due to the cold.
Thank you Jan and I need some of that Australia Heat-this weekend in the 40’s for us and that will feel like a heat wave and I think Monday we might even break into the 50’s
Jenn, that must have been awful! I got stranded in storm few years ago and now I’m petrified to drive in bad weather. But I wasn’t on highway. Your job is very cool and I saw your office!! 🙂
Bad day, but also motivating.
Though still eating ice cream tonight, lol.
And I might get snow. Not the scary snow but the, hopefully, the silent magical snow.
Jenn, your girls are pits, right? They are so funny about weather that is not a perfect cloudless 80 degrees with maybe an occasional breeze. Let alone the North Pole.
My last one if she could hear rain would sometimes flop over on her side boneless. I’d have to pull her to the door while she basically played dead. I’d first be mad , cause got to get to work, but always end up laughing. It was so ridiculous.
Well it’s 9.14 in the evening and I’ve had such a hard time at work. I don’t think I have cried so much in so long time after a work error. I have barely read. I still fell emotional.
I think I have drank half a bottle of wine.
Maybe in the next 24 hours I can relax and read more.
Leslie-thank you and like you I hate driving in weather like that and now that I was stranded in it I hate it even more. What people may not understand is it was not even snowing when I got stranded; we had 40-50 mile per hour winds that was blowing and drifting the snow that had already fallen causing complete white out conditions resulting in a pile up that although I was not a part of I had no where to go and just had to wait it out.
Bev-LOL, my Mia is just like that playing dead. You can’t help but laugh. She does that when it’s pouring rain, or very high winds, Sadie will actually run and hide in the house when she sees me get their leashes. And yes they are pits. This morning cause we are still in the negatives for temp I had to drag them out of the house into the frozen tundra. I feel bad for them but I can’t leave work without them going potty. 🙂
*hugs* Melinda. I hope you are able to relax and and escape in a book, The wine helps too. 🙂
Melinda, I hope you have a refreshing weekend and things are back to normal soon.
