in Latest Book Releases

LAST BIG NEW RELEASE LIST OF THE MONTH!!! :D Plenty of goodies for us to play in today, like that one to the left (sounds SO FUN)!!!!! Plus, we love Emma Chase.

The ones that gave me a blurb jolt? THESE:

  • Getting Schooled (she’s substitute teaching, and her high school sweetheart is teaching there too…),
  • One Small Thing (Erin Watt’s latest!! And it’s forbiddeny!!)
  • The Problem with Him (SQUEE!! I’m a HUGE Rachel Higginson fanatic, have read this entire series so far and I am SO reading this – her latest cocky, jerk-faced chef romance!!)
  • The Darkest Warrior (Gena Showalter!!! I love this premise… total old-school paranormal romance at its best. Due to a prophesy, he has to steal her away from the man she’s in love with, and make her his queen. And she HATES him!!! YAY US!!!)
  • Kiss of Fire (another old-school sounding paranormal right up my alley. She’s a human and doesn’t believe all that supernatural stuff but… “when she’s saved from a vicious attack by a man who has the ability to turn into a fire-breathing dragon, she questions whether she’s losing her mind – or about to lose her heart...”) YES PLEASE!!!!
  • Blood Match (K.A. Linde!! She’s become a blood escort and has fallen for her vampire, but is taken by a depraved captor…)
  • The Cabin at the End of the World (paranormal horror and talk about the ultimate blurb-jolt!!! This is FOR ME. A tall stranger comes up to a little girl and introduces himself… and then …apologizes and tells Wen, “None of what’s going to happen is your fault”. GASP!!!!

P.S. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out my latest review (and yesterday’s earlybirds!!):

LET’S READ!!!! :D !!!!

P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order)

Heather: A really good book i couldnt put down was Dear Emily by Trudy Stiles last time i lookec she had 39/39 five star reviews. Keep the tissues handy though its an ugly cry type of book but so worth it.

Good morning! I haven’t been sleeping AT ALL so please pass extra strong coffee.

Getting Schooled & The Problem With Him look good!

I am getting ready to make beef bolognese (for first time, let’s hope it’s good) and do tons of cleaning and laundry. I need to find good audiobook to keep me company.

Amy June 26, 2018 at 7:26 AM

I’m actually jealous of Leslie…I want to stay home and do laundry and clean all day! Instead I have to leave my to-do list behind and go to work. BOOOOOO!!!

Well, happy new-release Tuesday anyway, ladies! Star spangled martinis for everyone tonight. :D

Amy June 26, 2018 at 7:27 AM

Oh, and in honor of Jean, I’m clicking Getting Schooled. Holy moly does it sound FUN.

Maryse June 26, 2018 at 8:38 AM

I want the Cabin at the end of the World!!! BADLY. BADDDDLY!! And I will be starting Rachel Higginson’s latest because I love her chefs.

bev June 26, 2018 at 8:43 AM

It’s summer time. It’s summer vacation time.

bev June 26, 2018 at 9:51 AM

Ok, I have to share this because it made me smile….and I think it is so true. Plus, I always live that quote from My So Called Life.
It is hard to describe but it is those little things sometimes. And I love when an author writes them into a story.
Ok, I’ll admit one. Sometimes the way a guy wears a watch is sexy, lol. *shrug*

bev June 26, 2018 at 9:58 AM

Anyone with Netflix I keep seeing great buzz for Set It Up.

Jean June 26, 2018 at 9:58 AM

Good morning!

And I am honored Amy! That book sounds good so keep us updated!

Maryse, I just bought the 2nd book in the Opposites Attract series by Rachel. Did you read that one too?

Jean June 26, 2018 at 9:59 AM

Oh and I WISH I had off for the summer! So jealous….

Maryse June 26, 2018 at 10:30 AM

Jean I did!! I loved it. I loved the first one more, because the banter between the two was hilarious and he was so moody and yet kept stealing her food. LOL! Anyway, I loved that couple the most, but #2 is GREAT too.

Maryse June 26, 2018 at 10:31 AM

Bev… my mom was “meh” on Set It Up but she’s not big into comedies. I will likely give it a go this weekend.

Jean June 26, 2018 at 10:47 AM

Oh good Maryse because the 3rd book sounds great too, but I have this “thing” where I have to read the series in order even if they are standalones! I loved the first book too, except I remember the slow burn killing me!

bev June 26, 2018 at 11:08 AM

Why I thought you rec’d that book to Amy and that was why she was reading it in your honor.

steph June 26, 2018 at 11:18 AM

The Problem with him!!!!!!! I’m pretty sure I 5 starred the first two books. It is KU and I am loaded at 10 titles, 8 of which that have been there FOREVER. My July goal is to read AT LEAST half of them. :)

I couldn’t get into Midnight Blue. I’ve been stuck at 28% for months.

Maryse June 26, 2018 at 11:24 AM

Amy I love doing housework!!! I’m such a weirdo. LOL! I love what my house smells like when I go all out.

Cheryl June 26, 2018 at 11:28 AM

I’ll read The Problem With Him with you Maryse! I agree on book #2, it was hard to live up to the banter in book #1.

Leslie M June 26, 2018 at 11:30 AM

Jean, I agree that you need to read them in order because they have cross-over characters. I was opposite of Maryse where I liked book 2 better than 1 but both were good! :)

Cheryl June 26, 2018 at 11:34 AM

School’s out and I have my to-do list. Unfortunately, today’s has been blown to hell because today has been phone call day to make appointments and right now I am on terminal hold with dental insurance- so far 30 minutes. Why did my dentist have to retire?! Thank god for speaker phone.

Maryse June 26, 2018 at 11:42 AM

YAY Cheryl!! Buddy read. I’m going to start it now. :D

Cheryl June 26, 2018 at 11:53 AM

Ok Maryse, I might as well do something while I’m on terminal hold! Starting now too!

Robyn June 26, 2018 at 12:11 PM

Good Morning Ladies!!

Maryse, I was so excited to see The Wicked King on your above list. I’ve been waiting for this book like mad! I clicked and the link took me to Holly Black’s WK book which isn’t due out until January 2019. The book up above is Holly Black’s title and link but it’s a different author. So yes, my heart sunk because I really have to wait till January.

But, I did get a couple of PNR goodies…Iron and Magic and Kiss of Fire.

Maryse June 26, 2018 at 1:14 PM

Thank you Robyn!! I went ahead and took it down. I don’t know how it got in there… :D

Michele G June 26, 2018 at 1:49 PM

Bev – I actually watched Set It Up last night with my daughter (who is 21). It wasn’t bad – - but not as good as I was hoping for. It had a cute premise but just really never wow’ed me. We both really enjoyed the Kissing Booth (also on Netflix) so you may want to check that one out.

bev June 26, 2018 at 2:09 PM

Michele G, thanks for the feedback. The trailer looked so cute.
I don’t actually have Netflix so couldn’t watch it right now any way. Plus, way too many k dramas half watched.

Tasha J June 26, 2018 at 2:31 PM

Well, I’ve just finished Lying in Wait. My mouth dropped at the end. It was a very well written, engrossing read. I kept thinking these people are completely nuts throughout. And even though it was predictable, it still felt fresh to me and I was thoroughly invested in the characters. And I’m mad for them.

bev June 26, 2018 at 3:10 PM

You’re mad for them. I like that expression.

Hey, have you kept up with Secretary Kim?

Tasha J June 26, 2018 at 4:33 PM

I actually tried to start up ep. 4 two nights ago Bc the baby was being stubborn to go to sleep, but the one I tried didn’t have captions. Then I went to try it from another site, but the baby wasn’t having it so I gave up. Today has been a day. And tonight will be the same so maybe tomorrow? I’ll let u know when I do. I am determined to keep up w/it.

Tessa June 26, 2018 at 5:35 PM

I’m currently reading Blood Match. :) I had that one pre-ordered as well as Iron and Magic. If you want to read Blood Match, you HAVE to read Blood Type first. The first was really good, so I’m hoping the second is even half that. :D

People, if you read the Kate Daniels books, Iron and Magic is Hugh’s story!

bev June 26, 2018 at 5:43 PM

Tasha, I think Viki is a month trial. Just stop account before due date.

I’m too hot. Love summer but not made for heat, lol

Robyn June 26, 2018 at 8:27 PM

Tessa I have Blood Type but haven’t read it yet and so far Iron and Magic is good!

Tessa June 26, 2018 at 8:39 PM

Awesome! I was torn today. It is even worse. My favorite game, Guild Wars 2, just released a new episode today. Each episode means more storyline. Sadly, something happened and it kind of broke the game. lol So, though I really want to play it, I can’t. I’m just waiting for it to be fixed now. But, game story, new Ilona Andrews, and new KA Linde PNR… That’s insane for one day!

Jan June 27, 2018 at 2:30 AM

Leslie I’m with you and like the look of both Getting Schooled and The Problem With Him too. I liked the other Opposites Attract books too, but I’m on the ‘book 2 was better than bk1′ team. But I liked both and hope this one is a goodie too. I didn’t know this one was coming. Nice!

*rubs hands together in booky anticipation then goes to set table for dinner*

bev June 27, 2018 at 7:58 AM

How have none of us read Crazy Rich Asians?
I keep seeing it every where because of the movie, usually at least one of us reads the popular book.

MichelleS June 27, 2018 at 10:14 AM

I’m reading a perfect “summer read”. It’s a time travel romance. She’s an antique store owner who finds a photograph she’s drawn to. She gets thrown back to 1912 Charleston & is the wife of a broody, well off man who hates her. She wants to get back to her fiancé in 2017. Really good story so far! It’s called The Surviving Trace. It’s got the formula I love: feisty girl, brooding man. Yay.

MichelleS June 27, 2018 at 11:48 AM

And I love the cover. Not that it matters, but… you know…. I’m shallow like that! No abs, no beard, no man bun.

Tasha J June 27, 2018 at 11:51 AM

I read the sample a few weeks ago, but there was a lot going on just in that little bit and I couldn’t focus/wasn’t in the mood at the time.

Robyn June 27, 2018 at 12:39 PM

MichelleS, I love Calia Read’s books. I first fell in love with when I read her Sloan Brothers trilogy. You can’t go wrong with any of her books!

MichelleS June 27, 2018 at 2:43 PM

Tasha – I hear ya’. Have to be in the mood for ANY book. I was feeling Outlander Nostalgia.

Tasha J June 27, 2018 at 3:22 PM

Yours sounded really good too, I’ve downloaded the sample, Michelle. But first, I’m making myself stick with Providence. It is a little darker and more serious and I just got done with a thriller, so I wasn’t sure I could do another in a row, but I want to finish it. And I am into it, it’s early though.

My daughter’s friend texted me today. She doesn’t get calls or anything yet, so I was pleasently surprised. She called herself her bff. Lol And my daughter was so excited, they were on the phone for over an hour. Playing computer games and what not. I’ve had to tell her a couple times now it’s time to join the world of the living and no more talking on phone or in text form today. Totally reiterates why she doesn’t need a phone until she gets her license. I’m still happy for her, but geez!

Amy June 27, 2018 at 4:00 PM

Robyn! Agreed 100%!! I freaking loved the first two Sloan brothers books (didn’t read the older brother’s book yet). That scene in Every Which Way in the coffee shop parking lot, with both brothers, where sh!t got real, and then the McDonald’s parking lot right after…GAH!! I’ve re-read those scenes so many times.

bev…Netflix sucks. Hulu is better. Yet I can’t bring myself to cancel Netflix because what if I miss something? Besides, hubby loves Stranger Things and would be SO mad at me. *giggle*

Tessa…I just clicked Blood Type. Thought I already had it but guess not. Grown up vampire action!

Amy June 27, 2018 at 4:01 PM

MichelleS, you KNOW I’m just as shallow when it comes to covers. ;)

bev June 27, 2018 at 4:06 PM
Amy June 27, 2018 at 4:39 PM

What. The. Actual. F$&k.

I’m afraid to even google it.

bev June 27, 2018 at 5:01 PM

Amy I say you have it.

Amy June 27, 2018 at 5:17 PM

OMG you went there!! Bahahahahaha!!!!!

Cheryl June 27, 2018 at 6:54 PM

Bev, I don’t even know what to say about that.

Cheryl June 27, 2018 at 6:54 PM

MichelleS, is that a continuing series? Says that one is book #1.

bev June 27, 2018 at 6:56 PM

It’s a compliment…..really. I actually get it in away. Just wish it wasn’t named that, lol.

Amy June 27, 2018 at 7:55 PM

Sale alert! Josie and Jack by Kelly Braffet is on sale for 1.99…it sounds promising. *rubs hands together*

Leslie M June 28, 2018 at 8:20 AM

Shameless King not only sounds good but THAT COVER!! *fans self*

Whiskey Girl sounds fabulous but that guy on cover is total turn off! *gag*

Disgrace….hmmmm…I gotta say, I am scardies of B. Cherry’s books. They are so gut wrenching. Despite my EPIC love for Behind the Bars, Idk if I can handle this one. Also, this cover is weird…to much fake contouring or something.

Leslie, I agree the cover is weird for Disgrace, BUT it’s B Cherry and I have loved every single one of her books!

“Wake up!”
Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews

Finished Blood Match – Really good and absolutely loved it. There was a small discrepancy that was already disproven, but who cares. I adored it.

I agree, Disgraced’s cover is cringeworthy but the blurb is YES!

Tessa, it is sooo good!

Hmm yeah. What’s with the cover of Disgrace? The book might be good, but there appears to be something wrong with that guy’s torso.

If I were a vegetable, I would be…kohlrabi.

LOL. from rachel Higginson’s brand newie. The Problem With Him. I’m liking it so far.

My FLT is the same as Jan’s and should be Maryse’s, unless she finished it. ;)

The little hairs on the back of my neck stand up and without having to turn around I know William Fox is close by.

Kiss Me Back – The Panic Series by Sidney Halston

This is book 3 of series and I have been enjoying them all. I also been reading and enjoying True North series by Sarina Bowen (I will be starting book 4 soon)

Leslie M June 28, 2018 at 8:05 PM

Jean, you might have to guinea pig Disgrace for me and let me know just how heartwrenching it is.

Bev, Whitesnake! *giggles and blushes while remembering silly me of the 80′s who loved that music*

Michele G, Ten Tiny Breaths was a good one, but if you haven’t read Until it Fades, I highly recommend!!

Michele G June 28, 2018 at 9:06 PM

Forgot my FLT!!!

“Robley sat in his uncle’s solar, his thoughts drifting like thistledown in a stiff breeze.” – The Highlander’s Barhain by B. Longley.

Was still in the mood for old fashioned time travel romance. Heehee.

Jean June 29, 2018 at 10:38 AM

I forgot mine too:

FLT: I’ve been told that I am a survivor, tough, beautiful, and quirky, but the truth is, it’s my disguise; my shield. (Playing With Monsters)

MichelleS June 29, 2018 at 11:46 AM

Josie & Jack sounds intriguing… in a creepy kind of way. Sounds dark. May have to pick it up after all my light time travel romance reading!
