in Latest Book Releases

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! IT’S ALL WORKING AGAIN!!! :D  It would seem that quite a few of the books in my “blurb-jolt” list are not pulling up on Amazon right now. Amazon acknowledges the glitch (apparently it’s happening for quite a few of the “traditionally published” books today) so never fear, they’ll be back. *phew* Go figure, it just happens to be all my squee-worthy blurb jolt ones. LOL!!! ;)

Good morning and happy new release day! A bunch of duets and trilogies are complete today, so if you’ve been waiting to jump in, now’s your chance. :D Like that one up there to the left. OH YESSSSS. I only hear amazing things about book #1 and now I can indulge myself ’cause #2 is LIVE!!! And not just that… so many books below excite me!!! I’m feeling that kid-in-a-candy-store feeling right now. *rubs hands together with glee*

What else am I excited about? ➔ The Girl and Her Ren (Ribbon Duet Book 2) by Pepper Winters (’cause now I can read this INCREDIBLE sounding duet!!!! I hear “forbidden” *waggles eyebrows* Eeeeeeeeeeep!!!) The Kiss Quotient (many in our book crew are super excited for this one, and I’m hearing there’s tons of great buzz about it – she’s got Aspergers and in her 30s and ready to try dating), ➔ If You Say So (actually a recent release that I missed, but how could I resist with that gorgeous cover. And the blurb totally gave me an old-school bad-boy fighter feel, kind of like one of my most favorite books ever ;) , so I’m intrigued if it will give me that same rush “when the infamous Jay “The Hurricane” Hamilton—one of the highest-ranking boxers at The Underground—labels her a ring rat, she writes him off as just another guy with an over-inflated ego…“), ➔ The One You Can’t Forget (Roni Loren’s latest, and she’s getting mugged and he saves her… and she’s the attorney that helped his wife ruin him…eek), ➔ In Bed with the Beast by Tara Sivec (she gets kicked out of her dad’s basement and HE lets her move in temporarily… “‘Despite his attitude problem and long list of rules, Belle finds herself warming to the muscled man with a penchant for growling…” (<—OH YEAH that sounds right up my romance alley!!! I love moody-roommate books!! Especially when one gets sick and the other helps, or they accidentally snuggle-watch a movie together), ➔ This Could Change Everything (her rant against her boss goes public, and now she has to start over… elsewhere) , Finding Wicked (plane crash and she’s stuck on a deserted island with her HOT CEO!!) and of course, what’s a blurb-jolt list without a psych-thriller? ➔ Something in the Water: A Novel (ohhhhh boy, she and her husband find something in the water and decide not telling anyone can’t hurt, right? “Their decision will trigger a devastating chain of events. . . .” eek YIKES!!! I MUST read this!!) :D !!!

P.S. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out my latest two posts:

LET’S READ!!!! :D !!!!

Tabathia: Loved, loved, loved this series. I read book 2 first after reading so many positive suggestions/reviews on different book groups and fell in love with Zeus which was such a great book. Then went back and read book 1, even though not on the same level as Zeus it was still a good book. Can’t wait for book 3 with Zeus’s daughter. Also, first time reading this author.

Happy tuesday!! I don’t know what I’m going to read next. None of the books I like on today’s list are KU and I’m TRYING to only pick those. That said the Ribbon duet intrigues me. Haven’t read a truly angsty book in a while.

Sharon F June 5, 2018 at 6:02 PM

I’ve been MIA – stalking but not commenting. Did I miss the buddy-read of The Idea of You? I’m beach reading it and loving it!

Of course it is, after a day I actually had time to read. Lol. And now I’m gearing up for bedtime.

bev June 5, 2018 at 6:32 PM

I’m stress eating and shopping and need to stop.

I need to stress read and watch instead, lol….but really.

Tasha J June 5, 2018 at 6:45 PM

I wish I could stress eat! I have ALL the sweets, but I can’t dig in…angel food cake, whip cream and strawberries, these hostess cake bites https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hostess-Bakery-Petites-White-Fudge-Vanilla-Cake-Delights-7-9-oz/305054152 (oh my yum!), dark chocolate and pretzel m&ms, and Milano cookies are some of the items I went a little nuts over at the grocery Sunday. I also picked up snickerdoodle and strawberry lemon macaroons (they’re gone though) And then my stomach took a turn for the worse yesterday and I can’t indulge. They mock me! :(

R. Renee June 5, 2018 at 8:40 PM

Oh god. I just finished American Prince and I need Manny!!! I’m a mess!

Grey June 5, 2018 at 9:13 PM

So, it is the month of Maryse! I am starting my Maryse-challenge read. Do you wanna know what I’ve picked in honor of ya, Maryse? Well… Do ya…huh? Huh, huh, do ya? *giggle*

In honor of our illustrous hostess with the mostest, and because it is what it is… FLT(Tuesday??): “I raced down the long gravel driveway in my police cruiser with a grin.” I picked The Brave Line by Kate Stewart… So excited to dig into this one. It made it onto Maryse’s top list of the year, even with *only* a 4.5 star rating, so I know it must have been amazing.

Tessa June 5, 2018 at 9:27 PM

*hugs Robin* I get it.

Susan June 5, 2018 at 9:37 PM

Cheryl, I just finished reading T L Swan’s Mr. Masters and it’s on KU. I couldn’t put it down. It has been a while since I have read some of her books and I had forgotten what a great writer she is and her books are steamy. I have loved every book I have read of her’s. All of her books are free on KU right now if you are looking for some great reads. The Stanton Series and Dr. Stanton Series are great too!!

R. Renee June 5, 2018 at 9:40 PM

I don’t know how I’m going to recover from the inevitable book hangover I’m headed toward.

bev June 5, 2018 at 9:42 PM

Drink.

R. Renee June 5, 2018 at 9:44 PM

I’m waiting for my husband to go to bed so I don’t to have to explain why I’m digging around in the freezer for tequila while crying my eyes out… #pride

Amy June 5, 2018 at 10:01 PM

Hi ladies! :D GAH! I feel so out of the loop around here…

I’m starting Evol (the one by Cynthia Rodriguez) because it sounds like a ME book. We shall see. ;)

Random thought…I love the 4th of July. The decorations…the patriotic-themed drinks and snacks…barbecues or picnics with yard games during the hot day followed by fireworks and roasting marshmallows at night. So. Much. Fun.

Amy June 5, 2018 at 10:01 PM

*points to bev* I second that.

Cheryl June 5, 2018 at 10:08 PM

Funny, Amy I was just looking at red white and blue themed shirts at Target today.

Susan, I have read Dr. Stanton. Will have to check out Mr. Masters. Thanks.

Tasha J June 6, 2018 at 11:58 AM

Ok , Bev. I’m ready to lose my Kdrama virginity (Lol!) What do I start with and how do I watch it?

bev June 6, 2018 at 3:30 PM

LOL! the blog has been down.

We are talking about it on GR and then think will try once more and I find that from Tasha. Lol.

bev June 6, 2018 at 3:38 PM

Alright Tasha!

Options:

I’m going to start live watching What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim. Well, in that when each ep is subbed. It just premiered and the diets ep is 56% subbed. Will watch tonight.
It will be 2 eps a week for 8 weeks. W &TH. I have high hopes, but I haven’t seen it so it is a gamble.

Or if you want to Marathon or just sample different ones on your own can do that.
Are you in the mood for a certain type of story?

Tasha J June 6, 2018 at 4:18 PM

And I’m already confused…what is “and the diets ep is 56% subbed? Also, it’s not like a diff. show each time? It’s like a series? And is there a certain website you watch them on? Not in the mood for anything specific really, just want to try so I can get an idea of what they’re talking about in the book. Nothing sad though!

bev June 6, 2018 at 4:37 PM

Diets is auto correct, lol.

Supposed to be first ep.

Not complicated I promise.

The majority of dramas are 16 to 20 episodes long. That’s it. The whole series. They release 2 episodes a week.

So, Secretary Kim premiered today and I’m waiting for it to be subbed. The web site it is on is Viki.

https://www.google.com/search?q=secretary+kim+viki&oq=secretary+kim+viki&aqs=chrome..69i57j33.9276j0j4&client=ms-android-uscellular-us&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

bev June 6, 2018 at 4:40 PM

It looks like a fun romcom that is based on a popular manga and I love both the leads in previous shows.

I have to go to into an appointment but then I will give you a couple recs. :)

Promise, if you get hooked it is fun.

Sandi June 6, 2018 at 4:52 PM

I don’t remember who recommended “The Hating Game” but good call, I loved it! Thank you!

Tasha J June 6, 2018 at 5:22 PM

Oh, I love fun romcoms. I’ll check it out too.

MichelleS June 6, 2018 at 5:24 PM

I was in withdrawals this morning. No blog. I thought it was the Zombie Apocalypse.

Maryse June 6, 2018 at 5:27 PM

Amy!

YES!!!!!! 4th of July is awesome and I can’t wait! Grilled chicken wings for me, please!!! And now to get that salt and vinegar chicken recipe going, that will be my main for that day! :D

bev June 6, 2018 at 5:30 PM

We could watch it together!

Am I a dork for being excited for that?
Like a buddy watch!

Tessa June 6, 2018 at 5:32 PM

MichelleS, it was the zombie apocalypse.

Everyone was bitten.

The only ones responding now are the bots we programmed to continue our day, pretending as though we are still alive.

Leslie M June 6, 2018 at 5:37 PM

Tessa, super creepy. *shivers*

Tasha J June 6, 2018 at 5:39 PM

I started in on it and just paused it….are the subtitles always that big? And either my brain is slow to catch up or they go pretty fast. Can i slow them down like with an audiobook?

bev June 6, 2018 at 6:22 PM

I just watched a little.

I watch on the app on my phone so never noticed they wer to big, but on my phone you can change font , size, and color. It’s the little gear icon on the bottom right hand of screen if you pause it.

bev June 6, 2018 at 6:27 PM

I don’t notice that the timing is off. I hate that though Viki usually has good subs.

They don’t let you slow it down as far as I can see because it wouldn’t match up with the speaking.

I wonder if it could be partly auditory? I had Spanish teacher comment that it is not that she is speaking faster in Spanish it is just how we are processing it until we get used to hearing it.

Tasha J June 6, 2018 at 7:01 PM

Ok, I downloaded the app so we’ll see if I can get it to not take up half the screen.

Cheryl June 6, 2018 at 7:32 PM

Read a couple of the Cocktail girls books. Fun, quick no-brainer books. Now to read something substantial. Debating on the ribbon duet. Wish it was KU.

bev June 6, 2018 at 8:12 PM

Finished it.

I will tell you what I think if/when you do. If you don’t like it or don’t think you’ll like dramas in general that is totally cool.

Diana June 6, 2018 at 8:15 PM

Dang you bev! I went through an intense kdrama phase years ago, but you’re gonna pull me back in! Hahahaha

bev June 6, 2018 at 8:20 PM

Cheryl KU books I have (unread of course) right now are:

The Hardest Fall by Ella Maise
Ride by Harper Dallas
Rhapsodic (The Bargainer Book 1) by Laura Thalassa
Air Awakens (Air Awakens Series Book 1) by Elise Kova
Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen
Devil In Her Bed by Amarie Avant
Under the Sugar Sun (Sugar Sun Series Book 2) by Jennifer Hallock
The Making of a Gentleman (Sons of the Revolution Book 2) by Shana Galen
Young Teacher by Bobbi Ruggiero
Unforgivable by Isabel Love

All from recs or reviews. Don’t know if any look good to you, but all KU.

bev June 6, 2018 at 8:21 PM

Lol. I started last summer. It has been so fun!
Coincided with a huge reading slump.

Nay June 6, 2018 at 8:43 PM

Ugh! The transplant clinic called today and told me my allomap level is high (the test they do to determine if there’s a possibility that I’m rejecting). So I have to be at the the hospital at 6 a.m. tomorrow to get a right heart cath and a biopsy.

This is my 14th, so I’m not worried (much) about getting it done–I’m just worried about what they’re going to find. They’ll be able to tell as soon as they get in if things don’t look right, but I’ll have to wait until Friday for the actual results. I don’t feel like I’m in heart failure, but I’ve had this crud for a month, so who knows what’s going on? What I do know is I just want to cuss a blue streak right now!

bev June 6, 2018 at 9:03 PM

Do it.

We will cuss right with you.

Totally just did. I won’t put that many f words in Maryse’s Blog .

But now just wishing you the best and the best results.

I’m sorry you have to wait. That’s the worst. Almost impossible but maybe line up distractions and ways to care for yourself. Even if just hiding under the covers with books and flashlights…and us.

Leslie M June 7, 2018 at 12:49 AM

*big hugs, prayers and positive vibes for Nay.*

Nay June 7, 2018 at 5:48 AM

Thanks! We just got to the hospital, and I’m trying to keep my nerves in check. I’ll let y’all know what happens.

Grey June 7, 2018 at 6:03 AM

*tossing buckets of healthy heart glitter Nay’s directions* keep us posted!!

Cheryl June 7, 2018 at 6:58 AM

Nay- I just started my day with a TON of cuss words for you!! Hope good news with your cath and biopsy. :)

Nay June 7, 2018 at 7:18 AM

Thanks for all the cuss words! Lol

I’m still waiting to be rolled back.

Tasha J June 7, 2018 at 7:19 AM

Good luck Nay! Praying for you..

Tessa June 7, 2018 at 9:27 AM

*cusses a LOT in support* *hugs Nay* Hope it all goes well.

Tasha J June 7, 2018 at 10:10 AM

I haven’t resumed watching it yet, Bev. Bedtime duty called and then I crashed too. I have a really busy day today, but hoping to settle down w/it later this evening.

Nay June 7, 2018 at 10:20 AM

I’m out and they said that so far, things look good. I’ll get the results of the biopsy tomorrow.

Leslie M June 7, 2018 at 10:22 AM

Yay for Nay!!! That is great news.

I always worry about you. *hugs*

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 11:03 AM

YAY NAYYYY!!!!

Are you feeling under the weather? Is that why they called you in and tested…? Or just a routine?

I’m scrolling back…

Nay June 7, 2018 at 11:50 AM

Maryse–they do something called an Allomap test on me every time I go, and the one they did last week was really elevated. It’s just a blood sample that’s analyzed and they use it as an indicator of possible rejection.

Since I’ve been sick off an on for the past month (and I found out yesterday, it’s actually the beginning of an ear/throat infection), my immune system is working harder than normal and that can affect the results of the test, but it can also be dangerous for my heart, so it’s a constant balancing act. They did the tests today to tell for sure if I have any signs of rejection, and so far, from what they can see, it looks ok. So, YAY!!!

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 11:58 AM

UPDATE!!!!

Okay so like this one time, a week or so ago, Willow Aster interview me. And it’s up. Eeeeeeeeeep I am so scared. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I remember she blindsided me a few times. You’ll see. It’s at times, cringeworthy and hilarious.

Listen on the Website —> http://bit.ly/MaryseLITP
Listen on iTunes —> https://bit.ly/2DzM9ZU

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 11:59 AM

Ahhhhh okay so that TOTALLY makes sense Nay, right? You’re immune system is in overdrive. I’m so glad you are checked so thoroughly. I love you and your heart!!!

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 12:21 PM

That was awesome Maryse! You did great. No cringeworthy moments at all!

Lisa Aiello June 7, 2018 at 12:39 PM

I am doing a happy dance for you right now, Nay – it ain’t pretty, but it’s totally heartfelt!

Grey June 7, 2018 at 12:50 PM

I’m totally picturing us as the cast of Peanuts right now… Just jamming out doing our happy dancing. *tossing all sorts of glitter* yayyy!

Nay June 7, 2018 at 1:55 PM

Y’all are so AWESOME!! Thanks so much for helping me (again) get through this!

Amy June 7, 2018 at 2:19 PM

I was all set to cuss up a storm for you, and then I saw the GOOD NEWS!! Oh hell, in solidarity I’m going to say THAT’S GREAT $@%#@ NEWS! :D

bev June 7, 2018 at 2:55 PM

Yay! So happy Nay.

So f&%$@^& happy!

Maryse, will listen after work.

Tasha what is the verdict?

Amy June 7, 2018 at 3:10 PM

Cheryl…I love the little girls who run around in those 4th of July t-shirts and the little red, white, and blue tule skirts. So cute!

Okay Maryse, I want the salt and vinegar chicken recipe. I must have missed it during my hiatus. *snort*

Tasha J June 7, 2018 at 3:20 PM

Well, it’s only 4pm here, so I haven’t had time yet. I won’t until at least 6:30. But, my daughter’s bless-ed ears have got swimmer’s ear or something. The tubes aren’t working and they’re major crap right now. Wouldn’t have even known Bc she never notices when they go bad if not for her audiology appt. Which, the tests said she can’t hear worth a crap right now so we have to wait a stinking week to get back to the ENT. Should be fun. :/

Nay June 7, 2018 at 3:30 PM

Maryse–that podcast was great! Nothing cringeworthy about it, and you never told us you could sing–that part was really cute, and I admire you for putting yourself out there! Every time she asked you a question, I found myself trying to guess how you were going to answer.

Nay June 7, 2018 at 3:34 PM

Tasha–my oldest son had 3 sets of tubes and also went through the damaged hearing and the tubes not working when the drainage thickened up. When he was 13, he finally got his tonsils and adenoids taken out and he hasn’t had a single problem since. I feel for you and her having to go through it–hope the tubes start doing what they’re supposed to do soon!

Amy June 7, 2018 at 3:40 PM

FLT

“Remind me how we fell in love. Whisper it slowly. Start at the very end, And meet me back at the beginning.” ~ Evol by Cynthia A. Rodriguez

(Not the actual first line, but those were the first words right after “Prologue” and were too…poignant, I guess, to not use.)

I’ll have to listen to the interview when I get home since I don’t have headphones with me. But seriously, Willow Aster?? Willow Aster of In the Fields??? *thunk*

Tasha J June 7, 2018 at 3:51 PM

Lord! Nay, I hope we don’t have to go through all that too…she did have her adenoids taken out with the tubes. And they were fine a couple months ago, not sure what happened. Of course, they haven’t been in that long either. The suction process to get it all out is the worst for her. They say it doesn’t hurt, but she goes nuts over it.

Nay June 7, 2018 at 4:23 PM

Tasha–If I remember correctly, they gave my son some ear drops that were safe for tubes that helped to loosen up the drainage and reduce swelling. I know they were a Godsend! But you’re probably very familiar with all the remedies by now if she’s had her adenoids taken out. I just remember the whole thing was a nightmare.

And the poor thing hated wearing those fluorescent orange earplugs that he said made him look like a martian. I went to every drugstore around to try to find something less embarrassing for him to use (internet shopping wasn’t like it is today). Hopefully they have better ones now.

Nay June 7, 2018 at 4:28 PM

I forgot about FLT!

“I watch him pack his things with a mix of emotion.”
Archer (Leaves of a Maple, #1) by Haley Jenner

This is a new-to-me author (actually, it’s 2 Aussie authors–don’t know their names), and this book is supposed to be ALL kinds of angsty (I’m only on chapter 1). I’ve gotten to where I search random people’s ‘angst’ shelves on GR to find books like this!

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 4:51 PM

FLT: “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.” Sierra Simone, American King (New Camelot Book 3)

I NEVER want this series to end!!!

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 5:08 PM

Amy!!

YES. MA’AM!!!!!!!!

I LOVE her. I went to a concert at Red Rocks with her. :) She’s the sweetest, most fun, yet wonderfully…. “angelic” women you will ever meet.

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 5:10 PM

I was SO nervous, Nay. I was excited, and curious (I had NO idea what she’d ask) but I went with who I was and what I love, and it ended up being so fun!

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 5:11 PM

AMY!!!

NO MORE HIATUS..ES. WE MISS YOU. We think you’re hilarious and funny!!!

Luckily for us, bev is funny too. *now… wishes to snuggle bev*

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 5:12 PM

So Tasha… a new born, and a sweet daughter that… well. I totally get why she’d freak out.

bev June 7, 2018 at 5:36 PM

R, isn’t that from the bible?

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 5:38 PM

Sure is!

MichelleS June 7, 2018 at 5:41 PM

Nay – just read your post. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers. Post when you can; you have all of nervous hens worried about you.

FLT: “WHEN I RAN from the Mclary’s, took a baby that wasn’t mine, and chose to keep her against all odds, I never stopped to wonder… how.” The Girl & Her Ren (Ribbon Duet #2).

MichelleS June 7, 2018 at 5:45 PM

New Camelot Series??? Sounds all kinds of crazy good. Click!

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 5:46 PM

It is super explicit, and on paper should be everything I hate, but I am OBSESSED.

bev June 7, 2018 at 6:04 PM

I promise I’m not snuggly. It’s because of my orangutan.

Nay June 7, 2018 at 6:36 PM

Thanks, Michelle! I’ll post as soon as they call with my heart biopsy results.

Robin–you are making me need to read this series, and from what I think I know of it, it’s what I don’t enjoy in my reading. That’s why I’ve avoided it. However, if a book is good enough, I can overlook anything.

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 6:39 PM

Nay, you know my taste and this is not it…if that tells you anything. You just have to suspend disbelief a little and go for the ride. You will appreciate it for the writing alone I bet! They’re lendable so let me know if you want to check it out!

Tasha J June 7, 2018 at 7:25 PM

I made it a whopping 20 minutes in and I’m liking it, but duty called. I may crash after I settle these kiddos down so I’ll have to pick it back up tomorrow. As of yet, I’ll have more time then. *knock on wood*

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 7:27 PM

Orangutans are SNUGGLY!!!!

Proof!!

bev June 7, 2018 at 7:36 PM

Maryse you sound slightly southern.
It was a great interview. :)

But….um….we want avocados.
And it is never ok for someone to leave our group.
Plus, we distrust new people.

Yes, I’m just like that. Only back hugs.

Leslie M June 7, 2018 at 7:39 PM

Maryse, I loved the podcast. Not cringey and singing part was so funny!

bev June 7, 2018 at 7:42 PM

FLT:
“Iknow you hate surprises, Stella.”
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

But what first made me smile:
He groaned as suspicion dawned. “Don’t tell me . . . you’re a Korean drama fan?”
She tilted her head as a smile peeked over her lips. “Yes.”
“I do not look like Daniel Henney.”
“No, you look better.” He settled his hands on the edge of the table as his face heated. Fuck, he was blushing. What the hell kind of escort blushed? His sisters had posters of Henney plastered all over their bedroom walls, had even established a man-beauty scale of one to Henney.

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 7:44 PM

OMG BEV!!! Do I really? My family tells me that! And I’m Canadian… that has been living in the South of the US for 20 years. I HAVE AN ACCENT THAT’S NOT CANADIAN??????

Leslie M June 7, 2018 at 7:45 PM

FLT:

I am listening to – Make Me Stay by Sidney Halston

I am reading – Worth the Risk by K. Bromberg

“It isn’t what you think. I promise.”

bev June 7, 2018 at 7:50 PM

Ok, to be fair a Canadian accent, to me, sounds like Gilbert Blythe (Jonathan Crombie) saying sorry, lol.
We need one of our southern friends to chime in.

Nay June 7, 2018 at 8:20 PM

Uh, I’m born and raised in TN and all I heard was pure Canadian. lol

Nay June 7, 2018 at 8:20 PM

*I* have a Southern accent to the nth degree!

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 8:21 PM

LOL Nay! I was about to say! We’ve talked on the phone. *I* sound Canadian next to you!

Nay June 7, 2018 at 8:22 PM

I was waiting for you to chime in, Robin! ROFLMAO

bev June 7, 2018 at 8:25 PM

I wish I had an accent.

Almost home time. Pjs, dinner, and Secretary Kim. Then some Kiss Quotient and bed.

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 8:26 PM

Actually you’re isn’t that bad. I just met my friend Donna in person and now I can’t even read her texts/posts without the accent. And I add y’all to everything she says in my head. :D

Nay June 7, 2018 at 8:29 PM

I wish I had an Aussia or British accent, but not a Southern one! They made fun of me when I went to college in Lexington, KY.

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 8:36 PM

I was teased for saying “y’all” and “fixin to” when I lived in Hawaii and haven’t said either since! Now my FB group teases me because I always say “you guys”!! I do have an accent, but it only comes out when I’m drinking around someone with an accent.

Leslie M June 7, 2018 at 8:39 PM

I love southern accents!!

My accent is stupid…luckily it’s not as bad as that Boston one from Amy’s video, but you would be able to tell I am from Massachusetts.

bev June 7, 2018 at 8:55 PM

What??? No!

Do not try and change your accents.
I say Y’all and I’ve never been to the south, lol.
Seriously, dont.
And I like a Boston accent. They are all great. Massachusetts I think a Kennedy accent.

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 8:56 PM

It’s too late for me. Anytime I say y’all it feels forced. I can’t even make my characters say it!

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 8:57 PM

I didn’t change my accent though. It never came out at all until I went to a rodeo town college.

Cheryl June 7, 2018 at 9:03 PM

Maryse, loved your interview!! You were great. So funny and relaxed.

Nay, what a relief!! :)

Amy, welcome back. I want the salt and vinegar chicken recipe too.

FLT:
“Awesome. Another back alley.” Constant (The Confidence Game Duet Book 1) by Rachel Higginson.

Cheryl June 7, 2018 at 9:08 PM

I have a southern accent that is more pronounced when I’ve had something to drink or after visiting with my parents. I do say ya’ll and a few other southernisms- my kids call it my hillbilly talk.

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 9:43 PM

I HAVE A RECIPE!!!!!

https://www.nospoonnecessary.com/salt-vinegar-chicken-wings/

This looks GREAT!!!!!!

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 9:44 PM

Maryse do you follow K Larsen on IG? She does keto and posts some killer recipes on there.

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 9:45 PM

And here’s the “Keto” version since I’m sugar free (sugar in salt and vinegar?? Go figure!)

https://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/oven-fried-salt-and-vinegar-chicken-wings/

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 9:46 PM

Ah! Here’s the answer for why sugar in salt and vinegar chicken wings:

“Sugar.

Why sugar? Because I read somewhere at some point in a magazine that this chef uses sugar to coat his roasted chickens because it gives that brown, caramelized color to the chickens that everyone looks for. So why not use it on my wings?

It also adds just the right amount of sweet flavor to balance out the salt and the vinegar. I have to say, we nailed these. I think (and my boys agree) that they are even better than BWW.

Yep. Better.”

And here’s HIS recipe (mantitlement.com < --- LOL!!!:

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 9:47 PM

I am so rarely on Instagram. I am a Facebook girl, and BLOG girl. My Twitter and Instagram ventures need to up their (my) game. LOL!

R. Renee June 7, 2018 at 9:49 PM

I’m the same Maryse, but it might be worth it to follow her and set up a notification when she posts. You’re going to need all the awesome recipes you can get! If I happen to see any, I’ll share though!

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 9:50 PM

Wait. What??!!!

Amy has a video???

Maryse June 7, 2018 at 9:51 PM

As y’all know, I’m full-on y’all and you guys!!!!!

To Canadians, I sounds “American”. To Americans, I sound Canadian (well less now than when I first moved here). I’d say I sound full-on Floridian (which is a perfect mix of north and south – which is now what I am). :P

Go figure!

Liz June 7, 2018 at 11:57 PM

So I just read if you say so by a r Myles. I was really disappointed I did love about 90 percent of it but then ….. BOOM I didn’t get why it happened it didn’t fit. I’m very unhappy that I read it. I’ve never had a reaction to a book like this. As anyone else read it, what did they think?

Tasha J June 8, 2018 at 12:07 AM

Liz, I just looked that one up today. I was going to give it a try, but actually read all the reviews first, which I rarely do, and thankfully I did! I feel like I dodged a bullet, they all said the same as you. I’m curious to know what actually happened that was so bad though, no one spoiled that.

Leslie M June 8, 2018 at 4:46 AM

Maryse, Amy posted silly video before of these crazy Boston fishermen with the most horrid accent. I wanted to make sure everyone knew I didnt sound like that.

Maryse June 8, 2018 at 5:47 AM

LOL Leslie!!!!

Maryse June 8, 2018 at 5:50 AM

Liz, I was told by the author that she intends on writing a sequel. :) I don’t know what happens at the end, so I’m not going to look ’cause I fully intend on reading it… I’m SO in the mood, so I was happy when the author told me:

“I announced today that I have decided to do a follow up novel to it and possibly a novella.” <—-*phew*!

Stacey June 8, 2018 at 8:12 AM

Finished “The Boy and His Ribbon” and also “A Girl and Her Ren” last night and let me say….WOW……just…..there really are no words. Book hangover of your life. BEST OF 2018. It has been years since a book gave me all the feels that this one did and these words still feel inadequate to describe this book…..so Ill just say this…..This book sneaks its way into your soul, grabs a hold, rips it out, and doesnt let go. I can tell it is one of those books that stays with you literally FOREVER.

Cheryl June 8, 2018 at 3:03 PM
