Good morning! It’s super cold here this morning, -3 (in March!) and I’m ready for a hot coffee.
There are a few that intrigue me up there. Daisy Jones and the Six, Ain’t Nothin But the Devil, Ask Me to Stay, and Girl, Stop Apologizing. I wonder if I could get into that one on audible.
Good morning! I can’t decide about Daisy Jones! I know…I said that about Evelyn Hugo. But EH wasn’t epistolary and I got a heavy dose of Reid’s first person/present writing which is like crack to me. I may try the audio because it’s supposed to be fab with a gazillion different narrators. Check out all these people! (sorry I could only find it on the Penguin Random House FN page). https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=785735955130632
Morning! Still feeling book funk-ish. Maybe I need to stop reading for a bit *gasp* or re-read old faves??
Evelyn Hugo was a very different book for me. I typically don’t like chic lit/fiction but Evelyn’s character was fascinating and her life story was amazing. What I didnt love as much was the present day part. I cant say my exact issue as it’s a spoiler…but it’s totally worth reading. Not sure how I feel about Daisy Jones but if Hoopla gets it, I will try it. My fave TJR is One True Loves but Maybe in Another Life was also good and a mind-*bleep*.
Paula just posted on GR that UK is having a sale on all TJR books–except One True Loves which seems to be totally missing!
Do you guys ever do the Matchmaker thing?? It’s pretty awesome. I have bought several audios for $1.99.
Leslie, I’ve tried it but I haven’t liked any of the available narrators. I think I’m way too picky when it comes to audio. I get mine from the library.
I get mine from the library too but ones I’ve purchased are not available in the library.
Funny how I’m so picky about my books but I’m not really picky about the narrator’s. Yay! One thing I found that I’m not crabby over!! 😉
It’s so hard for me to sit and read an ebook that I’ll even let Alexa’s robotic voice read to me in a pinch.
I’ve tried Alexa and I can’t do it. But I have 4 different library apps so I have a good selection. And I like women’s fic which helps because they usually have great narrators.
I’m the pickiest of picky about my narrators. And I can’t wait to listen to DJATS. Hoping my library will get the audio!
Good morning!
You all have to try Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe with Lin Manuel Miranda. He is so good. And first person which you all love.
Also, As You Wish by Cary Elwes. His voice is so plummy, lol.
Oh I love the word plummy!! I must know what it sounds like!! 😀
Good morning everyone! Happy Fat Tuesday!
Leslie, I do the matchmaker thing a lot and have found some great deals that way!
I know opinions are mixed on Daisy Jones but I LOVED it! It really struck a chord with me (see what I did there…music pun lol). I mean it is different from her earlier books (which will always be my faves) but I knew that going in and I enjoyed it for the artistic book it was. Anyway, even though I read it, I am on the wait list for the audio with my library because I think it will be a phenomenal audiobook!
Off the Air and Ask Me to Stay are calling me…and a few others…basically I need to stop sleeping so I can read more 😉
I just watched the TJR interview on Strahan and Sara and I’m definitely more excited than I was. I didn’t realize Amazon was making it into a 13 ep series! And I was able to do the free Audible trial and get the audio for free. Last time I tried that it said I’d already used my free trial!! I knew I hadn’t!
Amy, I’m filling my shopping cart. To be 100% positive, the tarte tartelette (with the pink and mauve colors to be bold) is this one right? The Amazonian was throwing me off. https://m.sephora.com/product/tartelette-amazonian-clay-matte-eyeshadow-palette-P391759?icid2=products%20grid:p391759:product
Bully? *perks up* Alright!
Also, I’m still trying to catch up with tons of series that came out at the end of Feb, beginning of March. Now two more are up there. Wild Country and Burn! GAH
MichelleS, I forgot to add another great series to your list, The Unlikeable Demon Hunter by Deborah Wilde. Hillarious and still emotional at the same time. And, despite the title, I like the MC a lot. 😀
Maryse, three words to describe Cary Elwys’s voice. As You Wish…
I loved his stories about Andre the Giant.
I’m so excited to finally find something that I KNOW I want to read!
FYI, if you’re planning to read Off the Air and care about reading about characters from another series–the MC’s were introduced in Hearts on Air (bk #6 of the Hearts series), but there’s also a free prequel called Air Kiss that tells how the couple met. And it’s free! So I’d imagine that that gives enough info so that you don’t feel lost (at least I hope so). I’m going to read it now, and then I’ll see if I want to continue…
And then I’m going to read Ain’t Nothin But the Devil! Already read the sample–it’s 3rd person, but the writing is beautiful. Just picked it up for free with KU. I’ll keep y’all posted!
Correction–Kiss and Break Up by Ella Fields released early. I’m reading that first!
Alright, started Wild Country and as I thought, I don’t want to stop. It caught me right away.
I’m giggling so much through this book.
‘What are they supposed to do with a pack of bouncy fluffballs? Could two bouncy fluffballs be considered a pack?’ – Male “Others” trying to figure out non-threatening human females.
*SQUEEEEE!*
*squee-squee-SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!*
*spastically happy dances*
Just watched the trailer for GoT and I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS!!!!
And…and…and…Urban Decay is coming out with a GoT collection. Looks like it might be a bit too metallic for me but WHATEVER! It’s GoT!!! 😀
Okay…okay…*deep breath*…now to catch up on the new releases up there…
You know what I can’t wait for? The Motley Crue movie to go live on Netflix. I read “The Dirt” so many years ago (I once was an autobiography junkie) LOL!!!. And that book was AWESOME. They were all fighting amongst each other, and telling “different things” for the same stories.
*snort*
CANNOT. WAIT!! It’s going to be obnoxious.
Amy–we just watched it too! Son #1 and his gf have been binge-watching and they finished up tonight so we watched the trailer after. We can’t wait!
Yep Tasha, that’s the one! The color payout is amazing, and it can be applied lightly or darker for a more defined look.
I’m so excited for you to try it!!
Nay! Wasn’t it thrilling??? April 14 can’t come soon enough.
I am so far behind on GoT. I got mad. Not to knock the show fans, but I’ve waited so so so long for that next book. To have it delayed and everything revealed in the show just burns.
Hey, have any of you read Zoey Castile? So $$$, but I keep seeing positive reviews for them.
I still have yet to watch GoT. I did the whole first season and loved it, and then didn’t finish…
Yes to the GoT fans! I watched the trailer last night too!!! This has been such a long wait! Bring it!
I get it, bev. I’ve often wondered if maybe the author is not allowed to release the final book until after the final season, maybe as part of the contract with the show creators. Heck, if he’s getting paid enough then why wouldn’t he go along with that?
Maryse! You need to binge watch it so you can watch the final season with us!! Er, or not…you’re an adult. You can do what you want. *snort* But you won’t regret it. 😉
GoT!!!! Omg! I have decided I am going to start all over again…right now!!!
You’re all making me wonder if I should’ve watched it when I had the chance. I watched 10 minutes or so of the 1st episode and was bored so I decided it wasn’t for me.
OMG Tasha…YES!!! It can be a bit challenging at first to keep track of who is who and how everything is interrelated but once you do, it’s SO rewarding.
I have a feeling this last season is going to be as crushing as it will be satisfying. Bittersweet on crack.
I’m afraid of the last season of GoT because I know that no one is safe! I mean no one is ever safe on that show …but I really think it’s gonna be crazy!!
Me too, Amy.
Tasha–when i was trying to get my son to watch it, I told him not to give up if the first episode didn’t reel him in (it was a little challenging for me too at first), And I think he may have ended up loving the series more than I did.
Everyone who’s thinking about it has to watch it! Even if seasons 1-6 sucked (which they did NOT, but still), watching season 7 would have made it MORE than worth it. And I think season 8 is going to be even better.
For me, not many shows compare with Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy, but GOT definitely does.
I agree, Michele!
Agree with what both of you said, Michele G and Nay.
I can say with all honesty that GoT has ruined me for any series I might watch in the future. Not that I won’t enjoy any other show, it’s just I will always compare my feels to what I have while watching GoT. *sigh*
Now, if they ever do a prequel that could be a close second. 😉 Can you imagine getting to watch all of the sh!t that led up to season 1?? Especially the Lyanna story. Oh, my heart…
The sequel is already in the plans and I think in the making? Not sure if they started or still writing it, but HBO basically said, give us more.
I have to say, there are a few people in GOT that, if they die, YAY! lol However, I’m thinking my favorite won’t make it through the 8th season alive. 🙁
Finished Wild Country. 5+++++ stars. Not kidding. It was funny, scary, and the bad guy angst was HIGH. There was a small romance beginning to bloom, but the relationship between Virgil (The werewolf sheriff) and Jana (the rookie human deputy) was awesome. Plus all the little Others thoughts that just made me laugh. Seriously LAUGH hard. At one point last night, I couldn’t stop giggling. 🙂
You’re already finished??
Is that who the romance is between?
My favorite from GoT are
Tyrion
Sansa
Arya
Jon
Samwell
Brienne
Jaime
Bev, nope. But you have to read it!
Happy hump day!!! I’ve missed you all and checking out Maryse’s posts. I have been doing some kitchen demo and now slowly putting up new backsplash. Everything always takes longer than you think it will.
Was at the library today and they had the new TJR book. Grabbed it even though I hadn’t heard anything about it. Michelle, I wish it was out on Hoopla now too.
Reading the newest Pippa Grant book. Was in the mood for Rom-Com since life has been crazy.
Looking forward to the new RS Grey book tomorrow.
I have never watched GoT. :>
I watched 5 episodes of GoT last night.  😆 I could rewrite everything everyone else has already said but I won’t…just all of the yeses. It is everything! My husband and I watch together…we both love it. It has action and sex for him, lol and heartstring tugging and plot for me, *giggle*. It really is amazing.
I did same thing as Tasha! Tried watching first epi of GoT and was bored and didn’t get it. Maybe when its all done, I’ll try it again. I may need you superfans to explain it to me.
So the new TJR…my library has audio. Est wait time is 6 months. Boo!!!
I’m barely reading right now. Just tired and find it easier to veg out to a show. Not even kdramas this week that’s how tired I’ve been.
Anyway FLT: I wouldn’t have known about the dead man if I hadn’t walked into the kitchen at theexact moment my one and only lodger was about to warm up an eyeball in the wave-cooker.
Lake Silence by Anne Bishop
“I hate numbers.” Rapture but N.N. Britt.
We’re doing a buddy read of the ARC in my FB group and we’re all loving it so far! It’s a rock star romance, but I can tell it’s going to be a tearjerker!!
I can’t get into books right now either. And only half invested in shows too. Netflix released a show called The Others today. It’s kind of weird, I’m only half watching. And still going strong with Hart of Dixie.
FLT:
“That spring, rain fell in great sweeping gusts that rattled the rooftops.”
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah (listening to audio)
“‘I’ve never seen you this nervous,’ Paul commented as he ran his attentive gaze over me.”
Air Kiss by L.H. Cosway
Woo-hoo Grey!!! Now we can re-live GoT vicariously through you while we wait for next month. 😀
A couple of good deals for us:
Looker by Laura Sims is 1.99 down from 10.99
The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances is 2.99 down from 9.99
It sounds like both are psych-thrillers so I immediately thought of my book twins (triplets?), Maryse and Tasha!
FLT
“Stop! Willem, shoot him.” ~ The Boy and His Ribbon by Pepper Winters
Like I said before, it needs a heavy amount of suspension of reality to make it through the first part, but so far I’m liking it.
OH!! AND!!!
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell is also on sale, down to 1.99 from 9.99!!!
Thanks for thinking of me Amy, I’ll check them out, great prices!!
Ok, so I was book window shopping (that nasty habit) and didn’t read the blurb for one I placed on my tbr. I saw it on a best of list with some I placed very high on my own best of list and saw the words hunger games only more killing. I don’t even know if that was a peek at a 1st line of a review or in the blurb (that I didn’t fully read). ANYWAY. I started to try it and what- the – he!! I’ve literally only read the author’s note, but I’m so intruiged. I must have been missing from the real world in 2017 bc I didn’t hear anything about Fantasticland. I don’t watch the news, what I do gather comes from social media, but I feel like I should’ve seen something about this. Sounds utterly insane! Also, not fiction. So, maybe that’s why I can read it (with my funk), because it’s different from my norm.
FLT (from the Author’s note) “By now the details of what happened in FantasticLand during the thirty-five days dubbbed “The Battle of the Tribes” have been dissected, obsessed over, and satirized so thoroughly by the public and the media that returning to what we know to have happened seems simultaneously a waste of time and a refreshingly new take on the story.” Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven.
And from the first chapter, “My daughter told me the only time she ever heard me swear was when I was watching the media coverage of the FantasticLand situation.” Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven.
FLT:
“When I rule the world, peppermint crunch ice cream will be available all year long, because assholes who break people’s hearts don’t restrict their assholery and heart-breaking to Christmas.” Flirting with the Frenemy by Pippa Grant.
I think bev’s wins the FLT competition. Eek!
FLT:
“Come on, Avon. You can’t be late for your own performance”
Burn, Unlikable Demon Hunter series by Deborah Wilde
I recommended it for a reason. 🙂 Book 6 is the last book, so it’s long but enjoyable. Definitely not boring.
