The Tuesday NEW RELEASE list is ready!!!! It’s not a huge list today (around 60 so far…), but I’ll be keeping an eye out all day in case any new ones go live, and I’ll add them too. Let me know if you see any that I’ve missed. π
Some of the ones that gave me a blurb jolt? Well, that one to the left BaneΒ (I’m actually building a nice collection of this series that so many of my fellow reader swear by – total jerk-faces, I hear!!),Β MercilessΒ (oh. MY!!!! I’m just so curious about that taboo kink of his, and then he meets her…),Β The Foreseeable FutureΒ (she saves his ex, and then the video goes viral),Β The HookupΒ (her sister is marrying his twin brother… and there’s a question about who’s child it is…Β eeeep!!!),Β Falling for Mr. SometimesΒ (hate-at-first-sight, and then she realizes he’s the new chef where she works),

Morning! π
I like Accidental Hero. That cover!!! He looks all bad-a $$ and yummy.
I just found this blog this morning! I didn’t know anyone still did these but I’m inlove! I’m in the middle of reading J.R Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood book 3, and this site is is perfect for when trying to find something to read after the series.
Hi Amanda!!!
Wow thank you so much, and welcome to our group. You’ll find we’re a very fun bunch, and we’ve always got great book recommendations. π
And if you have any for us, we’re all ears.
Welcome Amanda.
I feel kind of bad. She is excited to find a book blog not realizing it is going to turn into a drama blog when Maryse watches My Ahjussi.
Morning my peeps! Wishing everyone a wonderful Tuesday with lots of coffee! *sets coffee and pastries on table*
Enjoy my lovelies!
First day in DC, heading out to sightsee.
First fun-not-always-fun fact: major litterbugs…
LOL bev!!!!!
Watch me get the K-drama bug… just watch!
Good Morning my friends!!!!!
Good morning ladies! I started Bane last night and am loving it already! This series rocks!
Welcome Amanda! Don’t let bev scare you off!
Have fun D.G.!
Thank you Maryse….. you are the best!
Thanks Jean! And welcome Amanda! You have found the best blog around! Love these ladies!
Welcome to the “We adore books and one likes K-drama club”, Amanda! *waves* What type of books do you like. There are a ton of JR Ward lovers here. π And despite what books I’m posting here, I’m a huge PNR junky. So, enjoy and recommend away.
I’m jealous Jean! lol I’m on chapter 3 of Atheist Who Kneel. I fell asleep right after trying to really start it last night. I was TIRED. So, my list now includes Bane. π
Welcome Amanda! Check out Maryse’s “what to read after…” posts. They’ll keep you busy reading all our faves. BDB is one of my all time favorites. Rhage is still my top fave. I was reading lots of paranormal and fantasy when I found Maryse’s blog. I’ve branched out to other bad boys since then. All the best reads I’ve found here!
LOL, Tessa.
I scare no one. I’m the nice one.
I just really need Maryse to watch this.
There must be a list we need Maryse to make so she can watch a few eps…..
What would be a good list?
Summer TBR?
Maryse 101 for newcomers?
Tessa’s most feisty moments….shes making me laugh alot…
Thank you to the person who recommended Ride. I love it!! If you like sports romances, I just finished Catching Caden and Benching Brady by Samantha Christy. They both were really good and I definitely recommend them.
Oooooh, a 101 For Newcomers would be perfect!
Welcome Amanda!! *big welcome hug* I hope you’ll find a home here as so many of us have. Random comments, shenanigans, makeup and nail polish talk, cocktails galore, blankie forts to gather in and buddy read, sharing our resident stuffed manatee to snuffle and cry on, celebrations…we’ve got it all here. And most importantly…BOOK TALK!!
Maryse has some of the best lists on here…you’ll be able to find what you’re in the mood for, no matter what it is. π
DG…have fun on your trip!
*snort* Yeah bev, you’re the nice one until we try to hug you. This sums it up, with you saying, “don’t do it, don’t you do it” and me just going for it. LOL!
I’m being good! I clicked the lower-priced books up there and only clicked samples of the higher-priced books while I wait for an ereaderiq alert that they have come down in price. I’m getting better!
Welcome Amanda! This is the BEST blog. You will find everything here and I kinda mean everything! LOL All in a good way of course!
I’m going to read Bane too. Plus, I can’t wait for War Storm to come out. I’m starting my reread this week!
I also finished KA’s The Greatest Risk. I love Steffan And Sixx. This book was the best in the series. I live in Phoenix and I want to know if these places KA talks about in her books are real. Did she go to them to do research? I could do some research with her. Hehe
Maryse’s book blog 101. A must…
A Manny book – a stuffed manatee that gets passed around virtually for a book that’s so angsty you need a creature to hug.
We all have book boyfriends. Maryse’s is
Travis Maddox from BD. He’s taken.
We agree beards are okay-ish, but often discuss what could be stuck in there and their overuse on covers.
Ohhhhh MichelleS okay I’m scrolling backwards in the comments and I just saw what you mean by a 101.
Okay… keep adding 101s that you can think of and I’ll compile them into a blog post. HOW FUN!!!!!
Maybe I’ll post it tonight. π
“We agree beards are okay-ish” <—– when did THIS happen?!?
I know R likes Jeff Bridges' beard because it smells like sandwiches, but I am NOT okay with beards. I always imagine they smell like dirty scalp.
Hubby knows if he tries to come home with a beard then I stop waxing. π
Amy – I said “ish”… it’s still up for debate. I very neatly trimmed one is ok. If guy has a lumberjack look, I picture him my way. Jason Momoa makes many appearances in my world.
No beard! Stubble ok, or enough to emphasize your jawline, but nothing that covers the mouth. Eeew. No fluffies.
Welcome Amanda. You will love it here. Maryse does an amazing job and we have a whole host of whackadoodle book buddies. If you are feeling brave, join us some time on Goodreads.
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/179094-maryse-s-book-blog-wolfpack-bridesmaids-meeting-place
We have a whole group over there and do buddy reads and have lots of different chats going at all times. These people here (holding my arms out wide) are the best tribe a girl could want!!!
Amy, it’s not that fierce. It’s more like this.
https://giphy.com/gifs/hug-request-denies-umoSAkPqku7S
LOL!!! Thatβs so awkward and embarrassing for her!
Okay…I can agree with Tessa on stubble or emphasis of the jawline but no fluffies. But MichelleS, I was shaking my head reading your βneatly trimmedβ comment until you said Jason Mamoa. Everything else then faded away.
Welcome Amanda!
Yes. I like Jeff Bridges’ sandwich-y beard, and obvs anyhairanywhere on Josh Duhamel. But I recently discovered I’m OK with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s beard as well. Not sure I want to define what his smells like though…
Ooooh Jeffrey Dean Morgan. *waggles eyebrows* I have loved him forever. Such a sexy voice!
Hi Amanda! π
I like that he was like…um….no. lol.
I think Amy was the one pouncing while I was doing the Jerry hand up step back.
Ok. Agreed.
Maryse we need a 101 primer so you can watch My Ahjussi.
We ALL agreed. Even your twin.
What’s a 101 Primer??
bev are you giving the primer? Is it an Ahjussi lesson? π
Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s beard makes him look ancient old. Another reason I’m not a fan of beards. They just make a guy look curmudgeon old, not a sophisticated old.
*throws glitter* Hmmph! *flops dramatically on nearby chaise lounge* (because we all have chaise lounges in 2018) Gah! What a few days! Miss you all. Welcome, Amanda! My daughter was dancing in a dance competition all weekend. Let me reiterate. She danced some. We waited around a lot. All you dance moms know how these things go. It’s a great experience, but…woo, I’m exhausted…still, and *I* didn’t even dance! π And I lost my kindle. My beloved kindle , gone… But then yesterday, I got a call from the theater, they found it!!! Someone had turned it into the security office. Way to revive my faith in humanity a little, because I was huddled in the fetal position, in my glittery blanky fort, sucking down some serious Godiva and crying for Manny. Anywhoo… I feel like I haven’t really read much in forever… I finished my reread of ACOWAR and have ACOFAS, but… Haven’t really started it. Am I broken? Send help!
Oh, I did read an ARC of Pick Six. Reminded me a lot of the original Max Monroe ‘Tapping The Billionaire’ books, the laugh out loud Rom-com funnies. So I guess I’m not completely broken. I liked that one!
Thanks Amy- and I LOVE the whole beard and tattoo combo…hubba hubba!
Bev- the cherry blossom have wilted and are falling like snow in the breeze!
Grey – you got an ARC of Pick Six – jealous! I loved the Tapping the Billionaire books so now Iβm even more excited to read it.
I just finished Comatose by Catherine Black and it was amazing! I got it on sale on amazon and thought βIβll try it.β Sometimes those are the best finds!
Welcome Amanda! I love the lists here. I love that when Iβm in the mood for a specific kind of book Maryse has a list for it…if not sheβll make one!
*hugs Ashley*
Thank you for the sweet comments, and I’m looking up your Comatose rec!! π
Hi Amanda. *waves* Welcome. I love paranormal romances too, as well as CR (contemporary romance) and HR (historical romance). You’ll find lots of great book recs here, and also our group over on Good Reads. My fav book husband is Will Sumner from Beautiful Player. So sorry, he’s taken.
I’m tempted by the new LJ Shen, but not sure how well I can deal with those jerky jerkface guys. Love em but hate em. I still haven’t quite finished Midnight Blue which I liked but it hurt too so I’ve taken a break from it.
Glad you’re enjoying your trip, DG. *gratefully accepts a coffee from DG* HEY!! Who took the last pastry??????
I’ve read 17 books so far thanks to discovering I can download books straight from Amazon courtesy of my local library. Sure wish I’d figured it out earlier! I’ve read a few that have been on my TBR for too long.
Nothing for me in the list but there sure are in the comments!! π
Happy Tuesday!
Steph!! That’s so cool!! I didn’t realize Libraries were tied into Amazon’s ebook database????!!!
*gasp*!!
D.G. that sounds beautiful .
I’m glad you are finally there and off the bus.
101
Club of Death: club of people who like it when characters die.
3 Things: A list of three things.
Welcome Amanda. You will be so happy that you found this blog. Maryse is the best!!!! π
Have fun DG!
So many pricey books up there. Trying to stick with KU only. *trying*
Kathy I read Catching Caden and Benching Brady too and loved them!
Awesome Steph. Is it through Overdrive? I love that one for that reason.
Cheryl, my biggest problem now is there are so many on KU I want to read and I run out with my limit being “only” ten. lol
Me too Tessa- I swap out books and then just add the sample, so I remember I want to read it.
I’m reading Road-Tripped. At first, I thought it might be a dnf because it was so over the top. However, I’ve grown to love the MC’s and I am enjoying their story. I also LOVE all the southern phrases Walker uses.
“it was darker than a catβs asshole out there.”
βYouβre nuttier than a port-a-potty at a peanut festival.β
βTouch her again,β he said warmly, βand Iβll slap the taste right out of your mouth.β
Bwahahahaha!!!
Did you all see this?
https://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/2018/05/cleaning-cocky-cock/
I’ve been living it for daysssss. My brain hurts. Even the authors who are unaffected are banding together to offer information and support. I thought it would be over by now but I don’t think we’re anywhere near.
Can someone please remind me who Bane was in the Saints and Sinners series? I loved the books but it has been many books ago.
Also beards are a no go for me. Scruff is fine but the long ones that all the guys have turn me off. So I very rarely buy a book with a bearded guy on the front!! Bad person arenβt I?
JulieO, you are not a bad person or if you are, then I am too! π
Authors really need to be aware of how their covers impact sales. I have totally read or refused to read books strictly based on the cover.
Hi Amanda waves,
Bane looks really good, so does Merciless.
But Iβm reading Tulsa By S.L. Scott. Itβs really good.especially if you like Rockstar books.
I donβt like beards either, my book boyfriend is Will from Beautiful Player so heβs taken.
Maryse does a super great job. This is the best blog around.
R, it’s crazy. I can’t believe it was allowed to happen.
My Ahjussi is back today. It’s like a Tuesday.
JulieO, Bane was in Scandalous and surfed with Edie (Trent’s eventual girl). His mother was Edie’s dr. (Sonya I think).
Thank you, Jean! I couldn’t remember too, but now that you said she he was, I remember him.
bev, the RWA (Romance Writers of America) is involved and yesterday worked with Amazon to “pause further removals/suspensions on books w/ titles containing “cocky” while this is being contested.”
Also posted 30 minutes ago: “Amazon has responded to our request to say that they will not be removing titles from sale until this matter is resolved and have reinstated those they previously removed.”
Tara Crescent’s Cocky Series was reinstated last night. Hopefully they all will be soon if they aren’t already.
Author Kevin Kneupper filed a petition to cancel the trademark with the TCO 5/7, but I don’t know where that stands. He’s doing it pro bono.
Jean – thanks for the Bane update – I had forgotten who he was too. Loved that series. Going to put it on TBR.
Cheryl – I am LIVING the southern phrases. I moved to Texas from Cali, and it takes some getting used to. To describe the rain, someone said to me, “it’s like a cow pissin’ on a flat rock”.
Jean
Thanks for the reminder about Bane. Remember him now. Loved that series so will click this one too.
Leslie M
Thanks for having my back about βbeardsβ. If I see it on the cover I picture it the entire time I am reading the book. Yuck
Michelle I grew up in the south, so I know some of the phrases. When I say them my kids tease me that I’m talking “hillbilly.”
Some 101s are obvious. Be respectful and such.
Another, please tell us your opinion, good or bad, about a book. π
Marmy definition. Who Manny is. A breakdown of Book Boyfriends. *gets out a sword to defend Seth and Mason* MINE!!!
Speaking of books, I did finish Atheist who Kneel and Pray last night. Cute. Not very rocker-ish to me. I didn’t get the tears or the angst. (See broken angst box) Still cute and enjoyable, though I was able to set it down. 4 stars. π
My dad and my older siblings on my dad’s side are from Arkansas and some phrases just became natural. I still say y’all even though I’ve never lived outside CA. When I was little, I spelled window winda and mirror mirra. π I’d always call the group on some of the sayings. “Weirder than an armadillo”, “Slippery as a catfish”, or “Mad as a wet hen”. I’ve no idea why animals were usually the reference.
Um, if we are talking book boyfriends… IDC what anyone says… Will Sumner, Brother Vishous and Zach Easton are all mine. Mine, mine, mine! *throws clouds of glitter and hustles men into the blankie fort* *waggles eyebrows*
And my boyfriends are Remington Tate, Z, Logan, and every other broken hero, just to name a few! Lol!
Cheryl, so happy you are reading Road-Tripped! I agree too, the beginning doesn’t feel that unique but the story as a whole is so unique. Great characters!
The important part of the 101 is that it is a list to make to watch My Ahjussi.
That’s the 101 of the 101.
101:
Jean is our favorite.
Ela’s not really YELLING.
LOL on Ela “yelling”. I LOVE her yelling. π
I’m still scrolling…
did we mention Amy’s *ahem* peanut issues? π
FLT=First Line Thursday
Oh and end of the month Best book of the month!
Oh, and we’re trying to convince Maryse to have another Book Bash.
And bev is real bev… not to be convinced with fake Bev… *giggle* and she does the best rundowns on what everyone is up to.
Amy and R try to get everyone drunk around here…
MichelleS and Tessa are our experts on all things PNR.
OMG, why is it only Wednesday?
I AM LOVING these 101s!!!!!!!!
Hilarious and so true.
*mad as a wet hen* That’s funny. I’m going to try to find a situation where I can use that one. Ha ha ha.
Marina- a bonus that RT was free the other day when I one-clicked it. Wish the author would make the others KU.
I love the 101s! I can’t believe we didn’t think of it sooner! Good job real bev!
Bev and R, I think one way around the patent for now would be a slight change in the spelling …. kocky or cockee for instance, at least until itβs resolved.
Thanks!
I’m good for an idea when I want something.
Agree with Tessa. Do not be shy on your opinion of books.
The Courtyard.
I think not .
Aroo’ing is an acceptable way of appreciating the Courtyard and anything else Anne Bishop does. π
Mona that would be funny. Like Cockee Bastard by Penelope Ward.
Isn’t it absurd?
So shady. But I can’t believe we could potentially copyright a word like that.
R, seriously why didn’t you get “Sun.” Show a little initiative.
We could then have :
The Son is Also a Star
Here Comes The Son
π Actually at the moment (thanks to Kneupper and the RWA) everyone who’s already published is safe until the issue is resolved. No clue on new books though. Did I mention I think I have a mad crush on Kneupper? But that’s neither here nor there.
Here Comes the Son should be my 3rd book bev! Boy is that title a spoiler! π
Lol.
Not such a cold lonely winter after all.
Oooh Ilona Andrews has a pre-order up. 6/26 is the release of her new series from the Kate Daniels world. If anyone reads her blog, it’s the joke book from April Fools 3 years ago, and the response by everyone really wanting the book was so big, they went ahead and wrote it. π
Actual quote from their blog, “Then we got an email from a slightly confused librarian. One of the library visitors requested the book. The librarian realized that is was a joke and informed the patron that this was an April Foolβs spoof, to which the patron apparently replied, βIf we request it enough, they will write it.β
It worked.”
I have a maaad case of insomnia tonight. Itβs storming here too so my son is clinging to me for dear life, so- freakin- fun! Iβm hungry, but resisting bc my stomach was really upset tonight. Iβm thirsty, but resisting bc Iβll be in the bathoom all night. I have a doc appt. early in the morning and I wonβt be able to function. All day, and maybe yesterday too, Iβve been refreshing the blog and no one has said anything. Which was a bummer cuz itβs been a really long day- one that just drags and drags. And then I just now realized, I was on Mondayβs post. Sleep deprivation makes me slow, literally. *rolls eyes*
Tasha, I feel your pain about the insomnia. I hate not sleeping through the night. I woke up at 4:15 a.m.
You guys…I am sad. Birthday Girl is NOT what I thought it would be. π (if anyone wants spoilery deets, PM me on GR)
I will just go hide in my blankie fort and wallow in book guilt. I feel like the books lately are a struggle to get through. *exasperated sigh*
Fingers crossed the BR of At This Moment snaps me out of it.
Tessa I love that story.
At this Moment, which is that one?
Bev, it’s a rock star book that Nay, Melinda & Paula loved. I chose it as my ATF challenge pick this month and a bunch of us are BRing it.
Playing catch-up because I forgot to bring up Tuesday’s thread on my laptop and I’ve been checking Monday’s UGH (I don’t do notifications for some reason because I automatically check in so much.)
Welcome, Amanda!
I live in Tennessee, so I hear every Southern saying on a regular basis. You name it, my hubs says it. Not sure if these are exclusively Southern anymore, but off the top of my head, these are the ones he says the most:
Busier than a one-armed paper hanger
Full as a tick
Meaner than a two-headed snake
I’m finer than frog hair
Slicker than goose $hit (or ‘owl’)
She cranks my tractor
Useless as tits on a boar hog
Tastes so good it’ll make you wanna slap your granny

Additional thoughts:
The ‘cocky’ thing is rude, ridiculi, and just plain spiteful.
I love scruffy bears and some goatees (hubs has one). In most cases, I’d rather a guy have a scruffy or short beard than not (I love J.D. Morgan’s beard!)
I’m also sleeping like crap again.
*giggles at Nay’s post*
Ducking peanuts. Our obsession to be first to post. Confetti. Good times!
Leslie–I’m anxious to hear what bothered you about Birthday Girl. I have a feeling, but I want to wait until after I read it to find out. And as a matter of fact, I think it’ll be my next read after I finish The Unrequited today because I’m LIVING for taboo, forbidden books like this right now!
FLT:
“My heart is not an organ.”
The Unrequited by Saffron Kent
And Amy is our resident mixmaster virtual bartender. Fabi is MIA, so we sometimes lament about that. Catnip talk is always fun.
Ok Nay, let me know when you want to hear my gripes about Birthday Girl!!
Leslie isn’t At This Moment third person? I thought you only read first?
R, crap! I haven’t started it yet and didnt know it wasnt 1st person. I do have a very low tolerence for 3rd person, but sometimes the author/story is so good that it works.
Nay loves a scruffy bear, lol.
Not scruffy but lovable.
Those are good ones MichelleS.
We should send new people to GR to introduce themselves to Fabi.
That’s the only reason I haven’t read it. I like third person but not when I’m writing. I’m beta reading third person now and it’s messing with my head!
Itβs mean, but Iβm glad Iβm not the only one. Misery loves company and all that! π I didnβt get to sleep till after 2 and then up at 7. Iβm super dumb today. Lol….Iβve got a date though! By May 16, Iβm havinβ me a baby! If I go before, thatβs great too. I feel like this will help settle my nerves
Yep!. I say at the most, (and on a good night) I sleep 5-6 hours (and NEVER in a row). It’s more in sets of 3 hours at a time.
Sometimes (a lot) I fall asleep at 10pm and I’m up at 1am. And I never go back to sleep.
I am absolutely delirious and furious with that… and it happens all too often. And yes, I’ve seen a doctor for it, and I have something that helps, but I will NOT do ambien. I’m too scared of it.
Oops! Scruffy *beards* lol
When we can’t sleep, we need to start posting to see if anyone else is on line. I was on at 3:30 a.m. yesterday.
You have a perfect reason for insomnia, Tasha! It’s just preparing you for not sleeping through the night for at least the next few months. This ain’t your first rodeo, so you know to enjoy being able to sleep in the hospital while you still can.
Speaking of babies, just got the 20 week ultrasound pic of my grandSON this morning! I don’t think I ever mentioned that we found out it was a boy!! At least I have plenty of experience with those, having 3 sons myself.
Nay for me that is almost EVERY NIGHT. It’s as if… once my body has had 3 hours of sleep, it thinks it’s enough and BOOM!! WIDE. AWAKE. Even if it’s just 1:30am.
The only reason I don’t post is they say that computer and phone screen lighting is so bad for sleep… so I avoid it as best as I can, and instead, listen to soothing sounds and BEG whatever power that be, to let me sleeeeeeeeep.
It’s my current personal torture. It’s almost enough to make me cry.
Iβve been so anxious lately, Iβm hoping this will hap me sleep a little more. Last night was nuts, my brain was working overtime. Funny enough, Iβve never slept in the hospital after a baby. It actually takes about 3-4 days for me to get any sleep. My first, I actually had to go back to the hospital and get shots in my hips to help me sleep. The first didnβt work. My anxiety is stronger than any drug! Lol…itβs not really funny though. Iβm considering asking for a sleeping pill for at least 1 day in the hospital to jump start my rest. I donβt like being on pills consistently, my body loves side effects, but 1 day might make me less crazy feeling.
Congrats on your grandson Nay!!! I love finding out the sex of babies, itβs such an exciting time. Let the shopping begin! π
Oh Tasha!!!
I’m so excited for you and nervous too. I know the whole mental/adrenaline effect on no sleep…. maybe not to your level (never had that shot), but I’ve spent a few days in a row with less than 2 hours sleep each night in a row. I was FREAKING out.
I still struggle so hard with that…
Sleep is so important, so do what you need to do to get it, and enjoy your sweet baby! <3
Oh! Have you all seen the trailer for the movie Book Club?! It comes out next Friday. Iβll have to wait to rent it, but Iβd SO watch it in theaters if I could! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gDnOubrC_gU

Tasha! So exciting! Our blog baby is almost here!
Nay, congrats! That’s exciting too!
Leslie, I didn’t love Birthday Girl either but I don’t remember seeing you comment on it!
I love all those Southern sayings! I’m moving to Nashville!!!!!!

I’m finally on the one book I haven’t read yet, and it’s so good. The world she built is just fun to delve into. Also, fairies. π Nothing like a good Seelie/ Unseelie series to make me happy.
Tessa, sometimes it’s like you are speaking a different language. π
(you know I just can’t seem to grasp the fantasy/pnr world)
I’m tired.
I want to go home, put on pjs, plate of Chinese take out , and MY AHJUSSI.
Just a few more hours.
Leslie it is such a fun world.
Read Cruel Prince with me. The two in a slump will buddy read. C’mon. We will buy snacks and go to fairy this weekend.
Congrats Nay- that is exciting.
Tasha it’s cruel you can’t sleep when you need it the most.

Can I just say this book is depressing the sh!t out of me! It’s hard reading about a drug addict and I feel like I’m just reading day-to-day boring stuff so far.
Looksie! Ride has a new cover! https://harperdallas.com/2018/05/10/a-new-look/
Now I’m trying to remember what “Ride” used to look like…
Isn’t At This Moment the trilogy that had the “event” that Amy hates??
Could add that to the 101 list too. That’s a no-go for Amy.
Cheryl… it’s what had me jammed up. I am halfway through #2 but I’m still pouting and I’m a break.
More southernisms:
Loopier than a lasso in a hula-hoop contest.
Faster than a deacon in a whorehouse.
Donβt know whether to scratch my watch or wind my a$$.
Hornier than a two-peckered billy goat.
Congratulations, you just won a five-gallon pail of whoop ass.
More confused than a baby in a topless bar.
Cheryl.
Stop.
Put the book down.
Watch this instead:

Please?
I never ask for anything.
And your my favorite.
Though, for real, stop reading that Cheryl! It’s obviously not worth it.
That said, can you tell me why all the animal references?
Bev, Enjoy your show!
Cheryl, those are hilarious!
R, I love new cover for Ride!
No the southernisms are not from the book I am currently reading. Some are real life and some are from the previous book I read- Road Tripped. I liked that book.
R. that book is on my tbr and now I really want to read it!! π
I’m so happy she changed it. I bet her sales spike because that other cover was so misleading.
Never heard of her. Is she one you all like?
Is that the book that Maryse came up on something too in book 2?
Harper Dallas? If that’s who you’re talking about, Kandace rec’d her to me but there was some discussion over the original cover. It’s been getting around a little via word of mouth, because it’s really good and the other cover was misleading (to me anyway). Also, Maryse put it on a list recently.
Playing catch up here on this long list of funny comments. I’m shocked that Grey is sullying the blankie fort with a menage of hot men. The fort will never be the same again.
*crooks finger to lure Will Sumner out of blankie fort* He he. C’mon Will. You don’t wanna play with those guys. Come play with me *smiles wicked smile*
I’m trying out Harper Dallas’s Ride cos there are so many recs and it looks good. So, FLT:
‘That’s when it hits me: I’m being fired from a job I haven’t even started yet.’
Ooh. There’s the new cover! Pretty. The old cover was a bit weird and spooky.
Nay! I have three sons and now a grandson (named Logan). It’s WONDERFUL! Enjoy!!
Your southernisms are funny Nay. Here in Australia we have ‘useless as tits on a bull’, a bit like one of your sayings. We also have ‘full as a goog’, but I don’t know whether anybody knows what a goog is LOL. Your ‘full as a tick’ makes more sense.
Jan!!
What’s wrong with hot men in a blankie fort??? It’s good energy. π
*snort*
LOL!!!
βuseless as tits on a bullβ is actually American southern, too! They say it here in Florida, anyway. π
Downloaded.
See how I do that. I’m so open to even a peripheral rec.
Maryse: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34613692-ride
Ooooohhhhhhhhh! Riiiiiide okay yeah I remember.
I actually like that cover too. LOL!!! π
Oh. Frostbite.
Cheryl, this is why I said to stop.
“Can I just say this book is depressing the sh!t out of me! Itβs hard reading about a drug addict and I feel like Iβm just reading day-to-day boring stuff so far.”
That doesn’t sound like a book worth reading.
R! I can’t get to that site. It keeps saying it doesn’t exist.
Which one Tessa? The new cover or old? Both links worked for me!
That really sucks Maryse. I have bad nights and sometimes in a row but always works itself out. Definitely need white noise and dark.
I’ve tried and really like their tension headache remedy but not their sleep, but…..
*shrug*
Wouldn’t hurt.
https://hgillermanorganics.com/product-category/natural-rest/
If keeping stuff off isn’t working have you thought about watching or reading something?
I do believe it can be disruptive but also know people that sleep better to the sound of voices or it’s an activity to shut other thoughts off.
And no not just trying to get you to watch kdramas, lol.
I’ve dozed off to them before. The talking can lull me because my brain isn’t straining to hear or understand if my eyes are closed. But if any other noise happens in the show I wake up. So, i can’t sleep with a tv or device on.
I used to when young. If someone turned the radio or tv off I’d wake, lol.
bev… here’s the problem with me reading…
It makes me fall asleep IMMEDIATELY at 8/9/10pm… I can’t read longer than 45 minutes around those times. Nice… cozy DEEEEEEP SLEEP.
Then 1:30 to 2:30am shows up and I’m wide awake. So I pull out my Paperwhite (at lowest light) and read some more… and then I can stay up ALL night reading). No longer does it put me to sleep.
Good right? Why don’t I just read it all night since I’m up anyway? Because zombie, that’s why. π Total mess.
I love ambien… It’s my favorite. *giggle*
Maybe I should try it once. I’m just afraid I’d sleepwalk on it… and do something crazy.
Eeeeep! π
bev, now i’m looking up your link. ANYTHING. I WILL ACCEPT ANY POTENTIAL SLEEP AID!!! I do find I fall asleep best to the cooking channel (it’s my happy/safe place) but my TV is all smart-tv and shuts off if i havent interacted in awhile. THAT wakes me up, too.
Grr!
Maryse
I have always had problems sleeping even when little. Have been to 3 sleep centers and been diagnosed with racing thoughts. Just canβt shut down my brain.
For the last 5 or so years I have used ambien and it has been the first time I feel like my body has really gotten rested. Havenβt had any side effects. Donβt be scared and just ask for a light dosage.
I loved BIRTHDAY GIRL. The books Iβm having problems with are BALANCE and EXECUTION. Started Balance and was really into it but the more I read the more the H came off weird. But it was intriguing so I kept on and finished book 2 and almost done with book 2. Will be glad when I am done. Too much info about gymnastics. Too many details that go on forever st least for me. Same love scenes over and over seems like. All this my opinion. Read many reviews and there are many people who are crazy about these books. The last book is not out yet as far as I know.
That really is hard Maryse.
I start yawning and know it is 9, lol.
I hate feeling sleep deprived so couldn’t imagine all the time, though I also wish I was one of those people That can go on 3/4 hours and feel amazing.
Ambien would scare me too. I do not want to realize I’ve shopped or talked to people while asleep. I honestly find that terrifying.
I know the best thing for me to get sleep is to exhaust my body. But I’m not someone who wakes up and stay up. I can get up, use the restroom, and go right back to sleep. However, I’m like JulieO. Racing thoughts. If I haven’t exhausted myself, I have troubles sleeping. However, reading is my cure. I’ll read and keep reading until when I try to sleep, the book is what I think about. So it might give me odd dreams, but I can sleep.
Maryse, see if your library has Overdrive. It’s awesome. Right to your Kindle. π
R, the new one. It keeps telling me the domain site doesn’t exist. :/
Cheryl, Iβve been trying to read Six Feet Under. Made it to Chapter 9 and canβt make myself pick it back up. I was wondering if anyone had read it to see if I should keep going.
Tessa, thanks for mention of Darkness series. Iβm definitely checking it out. Your seelie/unseelie reference reminded me of Karen Marie Monningβs Fever series! I loved that series!
Tessa IDK what’s wrong. It works for me. I posted it in my group though.
Omg this show.
I literally pulled my sweater hood down over my eyes for a second. I couldn’t take it, lol.
The links work for me.
8:51 and I can’t stop yawning and my eyes are heavy.
T his is how boring I am.
bev!! 8:51 sleepy-cozy is my favorite. Considering my lack os sleep last night, I know that will be ME tonight. A Friday night. 9pm bedtime. LOL!!!!
Personally I love it. Not the lack of sleep, but the cozy “going to bed when I wanna” feeling. I never have problems falling asleep. Oh no, I could fall asleep during a loud action movie. It’s the staying asleep that’s my issue.
That is my life right now Maryse! And will be for the next, probably year or more…Last night I resisted ever turning my phone back on when I woke up, cuz of the blue light thing and gave up at 4. Iβve just been laying here for an hour and a half begging my body to cooperate. I canβt stand the crazy feeling during the day when the body is so sleep deprived. It slows my reaction times, revs up my anxiety, makes my stomach hurt, racing heart and all that junk. Iβm scared of the ambien too, and thatβs what they said the day I was discharged last time- why didnβt you give her an ambien? So, Iβm thinking thatβs whatβll be offered, and if so Iβll need my husband there to babysit me and not let me anywhere near my phone or the baby or anything. Cuz Iβve read plenty of horror stories!
Tasha and Leslie, I am RIGHT there with you both. My sister and mom are coming to visit in a month or so. Maybe I’ll try an ambient then, when they can babysit me too, and see how I react. LOL!!!
Maryse, that is awful about the insomnia. I dont blame you about the reluctance to try Ambien. Its great it worked out for JulieO but the two people I know that used it had bad issues. My cousin walked streets in middle of the night and my friend had crazy violent hallucination. Why dont you talk to Kooloo? I bet she would have some good info on safe drug options. Maybe anti anxiety meds? Those make me sleepy. I am currently taking Effexor to help me sleep because I had so many hot flashes all night. Its helping to reduce hot flashes but I still dont sleep thru night either. π
Tasha, being a sleep deprived mother is awful! I have no idea how anyone manages to have more than 1 kid. My son was the worlds worst sleeper. I would have thrown myself off a bridge if I had to deal with him plus sibs. My hubs had 6 weeks vacation to help me and I remember bawling when he went back to work to not leave me alone with the devil child! Hee hee. My son now is worlds best teenager. All you moms with multiple kids are my heros!
Lol!! Leslie, your devil child comment was hilarious! My first was awful too in the sleep dept., I was young though and could handle it better I think? Anyway she was great as a toddler and beyond. My son was an amazing baby, and then he walked and talked and is the biggest challenge ever! I keep telling people it canβt get much worse than this right? But then I started freaking out to my hubby the other night, what if it CAN?!! I think I can handle some rough years until theyβre a little older and hopefully theyβll all be lifelong friends! Thatβs what I want for them anyway. I have 1 brother and weβre not friends, though he can be more tolerable now. And I always wished for more siblings that I could call to hang out with or help moving or babysitting or just to talk with, whatever. So, I figure with 3 thereβs more options….right? Lol
Yes, on no sleep making anxiety worse. I’m always like your tired let it go and go to sleep.
Have you all thought of maybe a Dr to help your thoughts instead of your body?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.rd.com/health/wellness/insomnia-sleep-remedies/amp/
Not that I’m against Doctors and meds, I’m not at all.
I took an epsom salt bath for 20-40 minutes last night, used my serenity Doterra soap, didnβt look at my phone at all after that, and that seemed to help me fall asleep last night. Couldβve just gotten lucky too. Either way, it shall be my new ritual for the foreseeable future. I ended up getting up at 5:30, eating cereal, drank a little water and sat in bed looking at my phone till I got tired again around 6- fell back into a tense sleep for about an hour or a little more. At least it was something though! Turning my brain off is so much work, it doesnβt always happen either. I also read that montmorency tart cherry juice is supposed to increase sleep time for those with insomnia. Iβll look for it the next time Iβm at the store.
OMG, Maryse! I feel like you’re reciting my sleep habits! I try to stay up until 11 or 12 because it’s the only way I’ll sleep until 4 or 5. If I fall asleep at 9 or 10? I’m up at 2 or 3 in the morning, WIDE awake. And Food Network is my happy safe place!! When I was in the hospital, I made them keep my tv on that channel and I wouldn’t let them turn it off (I also wake up as soon as the tv goes off.) I have it on every night when I go to sleep. If I read at night, I’m asleep within 30 minutes, but if I wake up in the middle of the night and read, I can also stay awake all night.
I took Ambien a long time ago and I slept WONDERFULLY, but I started sleepwalking and I fell one night so I went off of it. BUT I was always a sleepwalker growing up, so I had a propensity for it. I was on it a few months before I started the bad sleepwalking (and it was really bad–my kids still make fun of some of the stuff I did. For instance, one early morning, I woke up bent over the counter with all the sandwich fixin’s spread out everywhere and a partially-eaten sandwich stuck to the side of my face, lol. And I don’t remember ANY of it.)
Nay. You’re my sleep twin. I’ve been up since 3:55am. I am strangely quite productive anyway, and yet so exhausted.
LOL Nay on the sleepwalking… I just caught up to that part. That’s what I’m scared of. What if I open the door and leave it open? The alarm would sound so it would probably SCARE me awake so maybe that’s not an issue. But still. I worry about the weird stories I hear.
And guess what!! Im getting a pedicure tonight! I wanted to try and take my mind off everything and set it up. Itβs been 4-6 years since my last one. Iβve been so excited all week about it…and then yesterday when I left my doctor appt. I stepped off the high step, like I always do, and my ankle gave out. I rolled it and fell, luckily only scraping up my knee really bad. Now my ankle canβt be touched and itβll make my experience more poo-ey and less blissful.
The sleep convo. My entire family is a walking book of sleep disorders. Like almost pathologic. One of my brothers had to be hospitalized at one point because he started to have serious health issues d/t not being able to sleep. Yeah. We have sleep walkers, sleep runners, talkers, night mares, night terrors, some with apnea… I myself, have insomnia… chronic, which is very unfortunate because before I worked my current job, I worked night shift… so I added the whole upsetting of my Circadian rhythm into it. I’ve tried lots of sleep meds. For me, Ambien works the best, but it has a relatively short half life… so I can go to sleep quickly, but it doesn’t last long. The Ambien ER, (extended relief) works longer… but it doesn’t kick in as fast… so I have the issue of not being able to fall asleep fast… which is something that I really struggle with, hence needing medication to help me sleep in the first place. I’m currently trialing Lunesta. Yep… there’s more info than you ever wanted about my sleep schedule. Ha!
