Latest Bargain e-Books & Reader Recommendations – November 21st 2014

Happy Friday my friends!! The book-bargain finds, and reader recommendations are ready! All sorts of brand spankin’ new releases on today’s list. 😀

A few of the ones that made my one-click finger antsy? That’s easy! That one over there to the left Light Shadows (’cause I loved the first two in the series – all SORTS of emotional angst), The Playing With Fire Complete Series (Navy Seals bundled and on super-sale just for us, and this series had great reviews!), Juicy (she falls for a homeless man?), Little Doll (that title and that book cover and that blurb have me saying EEEEEP!!! She’s in the hands of a notorious cartel family…).

Plus! There are a BUNCH on super-sale right now that I absolutely LOVED, so I added links to my reviews next to ’em. And! Many that our fellow readers LOVED so I added their own comments.

Oh!!! And you must take a look at the pre-orders below. All *squee-worthy* looking. Colleen Hoover, Debra Anastasia, Melanie Harlow, Amy Harmon, Courtney Cole… the list is AH-MAZING!

Amy: Light Shadows is out?!?!?!?!? SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Tessa!!! Seriously, the second book was probably the most angsty PNR I have ever read…and if there was a PNR that was more angsty then I can’t think of it right now. That second book gave me tummy and heart pains!

Michelle S: ONE CLICK … Light Shadows…. loved this series. But I have to say, it’s one of those that I loved while I was reading it, and then I can’t remember anything months later. A true 5 star PNR for me

  • The Fault in Our Stars by John Green <— AND THIS ONE! But I’m toooooo chicken to read it. 😉
  • Little Doll (Bittersweet Duet Book 1) by Melissa Jane <— Stephanie found us a duo and warns not for the faint of heart. YAY US! She says: “This 2-Part, Dark, Gritty Tale of Survival is NOT for the Faint Hearted…★ BITTERSWEET DUET SERIES by Melissa Jane ★ Laila has no idea of the evil that shadows her every move. Now in the hands of a notorious cartel family, she quickly learns that trust and betrayal are a deadly mix.”
  • Crimson Desert: Bittersweet Duet, Book Two by Melissa Jane <— And this one!!!
  • The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred <— And so many of my fellow readers have just discovered the wonder that is The Sweet Gum Tree!!! I read this one a few years ago and LOVED it (my review of The Sweet Gum Tree). And it’s on super-sale right now. Just look at these reactions!

Amy: my tantrum during SGT wasn’t from being mad…it was a crying tantrum. *sigh* I seriously loved that book.

MichelleS: I nearly finished Sweet Gum Tree last night. It’s definitely one of those one-sitting-devour-it books. I’ll finish tonight. Just love it. And for anyone that hasn’t read the historical by K Ranney called Tapestry – it has the same feelings as SGT. Young, innocent love from afar. Determined, spirited woman/girl. Obstacles, obstacles, obstacles getting in the way. That same lump in your throat. And I think it’s bargain priced right now too. I used to say it was Painted Faces meets Pride &amp; Prejudice… well, add a big dollop of Sweet Gum Tree to that description.

Amy: SGT has some angst but for me it was more from just not knowing how everything was going to work out. It was, however, a very, very emotional read punctuated with heartwrenching situations that were simply out of the characters’ control. It wasn’t really an issue of non-communication or ridiculous misunderstandings but more of just Nick and Alix making the best decisions they could given what info they had at certain times. Their choices made my heart hurt for them (and me!), but I could see *why* they did what they did. I’m pretty sure y’all are familiar enough with how I gauge angst and emotion by now, so you will understand what it means when when I say it was not the most angsty I have read but is definitely up there as far as one of the most *emotional* books I have read. I *think* Maryse has reviewed it (correct me if I am wrong anyone?) so you could check that out, too. Which is something I should do as well, right? 😉

  • Untouched (The Untouched Trilogy Book 1) by Lilly Wilde <— Christel loves this one. “it is one of my favorites this year…”
  • Blind Rage: Team Red, Book 4 by T. Hammond <— Maria recommends this series! “I recommend the Team Red series from T. Hammond. Very unique, funny and sexy story. The fifth book Blind Rage (this one is a novella though) was just released. The first book in the series Blind Seduction is available for free right now. Totally in love with this series, can’t wait for the last book release date May 2015.”
  • Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand <— Bev recommends this one! “The most amazing book is on sale. Unbreakable by Laura Hillenbrand. It is an amazing story that is beautiful and so heartbreaking. Some parts are very difficult to read but it will stay with you.”
  • A Place to Call Home by Deborah Smith <— and Bev loves this one! “Deborah Smith. Read it years before Sweet Gum Tree. You’ll notice similarity but each has its own style. I think. Been so long but APTCH always stayed with me. Have been meaning to maybe re read.”
  • Debt Inheritance (Indebted Book 1) by Pepper Winters <— Back on the list ’cause both Tessa and Antonella love it! Tessa says: “Anyone who isn’t scared of CH, read Debt Inheritance. Seriously. Just go read!” and Antonella agrees: “I’ll second Tessa’s comments above read Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winters, it’s brilliant if you aren’t afraid of a little darkness. Book two – First Debt – also came out last week and it is better than the first. The way she weaves the story line has you captivated even if it is a little wrong.”
  • His Secretary: Undone (A Billionaire Romance) by Melanie Marchande <— Shell found us a couple that she recommends! Like this one! She says: “‘His secretary Undone’ by Melanie Marchand is on sale and its a fun read with a sexy boss which I finished in one sitting and i enjoyed it a lot, it really made me laugh out loud.”
  • This Is Falling (The Falling Series, Book 1) by Ginger Scott <— Shell also recommends this one. “‘This is Falling’ by Ginger Scott is also on sale price which is a wonderful book with great storyline and believable characters. I loved it a lot.”

Noelle Adams – Willow Park Series Reading Order

This series was featured in a reader question just a while ago and it sounds soooo good! And since I loved this author’s other book (“Escorted” under the pen name “Claire Kent”) I thought I’d post this sweet-looking romance one. And I here it’s angsty. 😉 Check out what our fellow readers think!

Sarah: Not sure if you realize that Claire Kent also writes under the pen name of Noelle Adams.  So A Negotiated Marriage by Noelle Adams above is written by the same author as Escorted that you reviewed last week 🙂

Jillian: I just read Married for Christmas by Noelle Adams. I think maybe it was on your bargains list a week or so ago. Anyway, it was quite angst-y – wasn’t expecting that. So if you’re looking for some angst, with the main hero as a pastor! (this is not a religious themed book, still a contemporary romance) and Christmas I would recommend!

Jen: I just read A Baby for Easter. so good! I love everything by Noelle Adams!

About book #1:

After years of dreaming, Jessica is finally getting married, but the marriage isn’t exactly what she thought.

Daniel is her best friend, and she’s known him all her life, but he’s never gotten over losing his wife two years ago. I loved one of this author’s other books (she wrote “Escorted” under the pen name “Claire Kent”). So I am excited to see she’s got a few other series published! Like this one. Novella length standalones and these sound like the perfect romance treat for when you only have a couple of hours to read.

You’ll Never Believe… with Kate Canterbary

Recently, I was getting my hair cut and got to chatting with the stylist. When I mentioned that I write novels—specifically, smutty novels about sexy architects—the stylist went bananas.  She put the scissors down, pulled up a chair, and made it clear we’d worry about whether my layers were symmetrical later.

She immediately rattled off a lengthy list of her favorite authors, and wanted to share her thoughts on her recent readings. This ranged from loving a character but hating his tendency to wear sleeveless shirts, to wishing some of her favorites were longer because she adored them that much.

But that wasn’t even the best part. Then she wanted to know how I wrote the, ahem, spicy portions.

She said, “So you must have a lot of sex. Like, every day, huh? And all that kinky shit, right?”

And I said the first thing that came to mind. “Well…I am happily married.”

Exclusive Excerpt:

I edged closer to the speakers to drown out my thoughts, dancing with my companion for the evening:  a limey gimlet.

The songs started blurring together and my muscles loosened. The combined effects of vodka and dancing made everything a little more mellow, and I didn’t protest the hands that landed on my hips.

“Your friends have terrible taste in bars,” a voice—Patrick’s voice—rasped against my ear, and I actually moaned in delight.

I didn’t dare look over my shoulder. I wanted to know why he was here, how he found me, and what he wanted, but those questions were going to wait. I needed to enjoy the way we fit together first. He enveloped me, his body curling around mine, wrapping me in sinewy muscle. Long fingers mapped my pelvis, pressing and pulling with the rhythm.

“And you were wandering around Lansdowne Street on a Thursday night, looking for overpriced drinks?”

“Something like that,” he murmured. “Those texts on your screen are hard to miss sometimes. And then you looked up the reviews for this place when we were stuck in traffic. I…I couldn’t stay away. I should, but…here I am.”

“I never told you to stay away.”

“You shouldn’t have to, Andy.”

Patrick’s lips brushed across the nape of my neck, and I hoped the music swallowed my guttural sigh. Or maybe I wanted him to hear, to know what he did to me. His fingers pried the glass from my hand and he studied the melting ice.

“My therapist,” I murmured, glancing over my shoulder for the first time. I smiled at his wrinkled brow. “Vodka. She keeps me in line. Usually.”

Patrick set the glass on a passing waiter’s tray. With a flick of his wrist, he spun me around and reclaimed his place on my hips.

“Running a couple miles along the Charles usually does it for me,” he said, ducking to my ear. “But it doesn’t seem like anything’s working for us right now.”

I shook my head. My eyes dropped to his lips and the pale freckles there. Where else would I find freckles? “There’s always tequila.”

“No,” he whispered, threading his hands through my hair. “There’s a much better solution.”

Stretching up on my toes, I captured Patrick’s lips as a growl rattled in his throat. It wasn’t like other first kisses. There was no hesitation, no patient exploration. This was the deep end. He knew what he was doing, and it was clear he intended to teach me something.

My wants were few: good eats, tall boots, hot yoga, interesting work. One incredibly hot architect with the most expressive hazel eyes I ever encountered and entirely too much talent in and out of the bedroom wasn’t part of the original plan. Apparently he was part of the package.

Wine was my rabbi and vodka was my therapist, and I needed plenty of both to survive my apprenticeship. Especially with Patrick Walsh leaving love notes in the form of bite marks all over my body.

Look what’s up for pre-order!!! A SURPRISE by Colleen Hoover, releasing November 24th 2014. And it sounds AWESOME. It’s called Maybe Not: A Novella and it’s from Warren’s point of view from Maybe Someday. I had no idea!!! Okay… I had a *little* idea that we were getting a surprise, but here it be!

And it sound so fun!!!!!! Co-ed roommates that can barely stand each other. YAY ME!!!!

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?
