BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!! THE LATEST BOOK IN THIS SERIES IS LIVE!! Halton: Vested Interest #6!! AND!! It was a surprise! Even to the author because she hadn’t even planned on it. 😉

And thanks to author Melanie Moreland for sponsoring today’s Friday Finds newsletter, in celebration of her release of Halton: Vested Interest #6, she’s sent over a fun facts about the characters and the series, plus she’s giving away one signed copy to a lucky commenter here! 😀 P.S. AND!! They’re all available to read for free in KU!!

Ashley: I’ve been reading Bentley by Melanie Moreland and I am loving it.

Five fun facts about Halton

  • Halton can be read as a complete standalone. He resides in the Vested Interest Series Book 6. However, his story is his own, and while a few characters makes appearances, they are explained, and you won’t be lost. He is a great read just on his own!
  • What is Vested Interest?

I’m so glad you asked. The series started out as 3 books. The men of BAM. Bentley, Aiden, and Maddox.  Three young men who meet in university and form a bond that lasts a lifetime. Each have their own story and they need to be read in order as the timelines flow one into another.

But as sometimes happen, side characters emerge and Reid, the IT boy wonder was born. And along with that book, the master-carpenter Van emerged. Books 4 & 5 can also be read as standalones, although I have been informed once you start, you can’t stop until they are all done!

  • Halton wasn’t planned. He had a small part in book #5 with an epic line as he is speaking with a client. “I eat people like Mr. Nolan for breakfast and shit them out before lunch.” Readers clamored for more, and although I said no, he began to talk and we all know once a lawyer starts to talk, they rarely shut up until they are happy. Hence the birth of book #6.
  • There is a fun scene in the book about “night noises” that was inspired by real life events. All I will say is I share a hotel room with my PA for book signings. She is the inspiration behind it, although she vehemently denies this.

P.S. Sidenote from Maryse… I received a quick message from her PA saying: “…five fun facts! << it contains a small white lie but I will let it go for now...” *snort* 😂😂 I LOVE IT!!!

  • Halton loves to eat and does so with gusto. In fact, while writing this book, I often got the munchies after describing one of his many meals or snacks. He never met a food group he didn’t love.

READING ORDER:

– Books #1-3 are on an interconnecting timeline, should be read in order

Reader Question – The book about the girl staying at a guys house and she sleeps with him when his kid is not there…

By 2 Comments

Nicole needs our book-sleuthing! And the last part of her question made me snort!!! This one sounds like fun!

She asks:

I have another book question

In the book there is a girl who is staying at a guys house and he really likes her and she ends up sleeping with him most nights when his kid is not there.

When the kid is there she stays in another room

But another thing that happens in the book is that he takes very fast showers unless he is paying a little attention to himself then he will stay in the shower a little longer..

Any ideas?

*snort* I wonder what he’s doing in there? 😉 😛

Anyone remember this one?

Aimee: To Hate Adam Connor

Betsy: Birthday Girl? Maybe?

Reader Question… Solved! The book about the heroine that rides the same train with the hot stranger that reads a book while commuting…

By 5 Comments

Tash is looking for a book! And OMG!! I think read this. I’m pretty sure I have or I desperately wanted to, because I feel like I KNOW this book. Or maybe it’s the author’s meet cute that went viral that I know of? GAH!!! I can’t WAIT to find out. Makes me think of… wait.

Could it be a Renee Carlino book??? I LOVE HER!! Could it be “Before We Were Strangers: A Love Story“?  … No. No. That’s not the right one. A train is involved, but it’s much after the fact… they were already in love once. P.S. Here’s my review and that book is a must read, too!!

She asks:

Hi, Maryse!

It’s my 4th time (or was it 3rd?) asking you a question and you never failed to answer me so here i am again with another “book title” problem!

So it’s a romance novel. The story was actually inspired by the author’s real life  story.

The heroine always rides the same train with the hot stranger. The hero always reads a book while commuting to pass the time, oblivious of the heroine’s swooning.

So the heroine finally had the courage to ask him out but unfortunately the hero’s committed with someone already. I think the heroine wrote something on the guy’s book to ask him out, but im not sure if my memory’s right.

Anyway, they end up together at the end.

The story was very similar with the author’s vey real meet cute with her own husband (it even became viral).

I hope you can help me find the title.

Thank you!

I can’t wait to know which one it is!!!

Anyone know what we’re looking for?

Millie: Could it be “The Note” by Zoe Folbigg ?

Laura: These are fun! Pretty sure this one is The Note by Zoë Folbigg

Maryse: Oooooh! That sounds more like it!! 😀 I bet that’s the one!! And now I have a new book to read. YAY ME!! I love reader questions.

Laura: Maryse, Right? I haven’t read this one yet but I’ve got to bump it up the list now. As soon as I read the question I knew it sounded familiar.

Jaime:  I feel like I’ve read this too but I can’t remember!

Kari: Sounds a bit like One Day in December: A Novel but I highly doubt that’s it. That was a 1-chance sighting on a train….but also a GREAT read!

Clare: I think it sounds like Stuck-Up Suit (A Series of Standalone Novels Book 2)  by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward?

Jaime: Clare yes this one does involve a train! She sees him on the train on his cell phone and then he drops it. She picks it up with the plan to give it back to him the next day but then ends up keeping it. Somehow they end up texting each other.

Joy: It’s definitely not Stuck up Suit. The h never asks the H out. He accidentally leaves his phone on the train and she returns it to his place of business. However, before she gives it to him, he’s an a$$hole. So she takes selfies of her huge boobies with her middle finger salute, on his phone, lmao! That sass and huge boobies were his catnip! It’s a great book!

Maryse: LOL!!! Sounds awesome Joy!!!! I love those two authors together. 😛

Tash: Yes. It’s actually “The Note” that i was looking for. Again, thank you so much.

Maryse: YAY!!!!! Another one solved and it was pretty much solved right off the bat!! Thank you Millie and Laura for that guess, and thanks to everyone else because now we have a fun list to read!

Reader Question… Solved! The book about the military guy that goes back to the Army and abandons his pregnant girlfriend…

By 3 Comments

Ellen needs our help finding this book! Ooooh THAT MAN already made me fume!!!

She asks:

Hey Maryse,

I need help finding a book.

I can’t think of the name or who wrote it but i remember it being military based, he comes home on leave and his long time girlfriend tells him she’s pregnant. He freaks out and tells her he can’t be with her and goes back to the army.

She never hears from him.

I remember she gives birth alone and meets another military man in the same hospital as she is in and helps him as he was hurt when on active duty?.

I really want to read this book

Thank you for you help

P.S. i love your blog by the way

Ellen: This is it! Thank you so much! Day off from work tomorrow so i will read it then.
