Maria is looking for this, and since it seems to be a fairly frequent request, I’m going to repost that specific category on my blog, here. AND if you have a recommendation for us that’s not already on the list, let us know. π
She asks:
Hey Maryse!
Iβve been looking for books in which the heroine is the heroβs mistress. Sort of an Off Balance by Lucia Franco vibe… not historical romance.
Do you have any recs?
Hi Maria! You bet!!
Right off the bat, what comes to mind is the “Something in the Way” series.
BUT! In case you haven’t seen it on my blog yet, this entire category has what you’re looking for:
https://www.maryse.net/tag/the-other-woman
It starts with a “favorite recommendations list” for books feature the heroine as a mistress, plus if you continue to scroll through the category, you’ll see series recommendations, my reviews and even reader questions featuring “the other woman”.
Some listed in this category will actually have the mistress as a side character (where the heroine is the one being betrayed and dealing with this), but most in this category have the mistress as the main character.
Any extra recommendations?
Rae: Becoming His MistressΒ by AE Murphy
Robyn: I just finished a book that whipped that slump right away. Iβm talking 5 stars! Itβs called Becoming His Mistress by A E Murphy.
I stayed up super late last night because I HAD to finished that book. It covered all the βfeelsβ and then some. It was funny, sad, angsty, heartbreaking, did I say funny? When you find out what the little quotes mean at the beginning of every chapter your heart will just melt. You have to read this book!

This book was sooooo good!!! I love this trope and to see how each author puts their spin on cheating!
I second ur question. i would also love to read those kind of books, the focus of the story being on the angst of being the second lady (mistress). but one that i know is love in English by karina. will send u more if i remember others
Love in English by karina Halle
Becoming his mistress by Harley Faiman
Heartless by RC martin. But I found that one a bit insensitive to women who have infertility issues. π
