I love this series read all 17 so far in a month and a half. Can’t wait for Flirt #18(bonus Anita novel – March 2010)and #19 Bullet (June 2010)

Maryse December 30, 2009 at 3:16 PM

I’m so happy that Bullet will include Jean-Claude again, like the old times!! One of my all time favorite vampires… *heart*

jay January 3, 2010 at 1:45 AM

omg datz crazy I thought I was the only 1 obsessed with this series I also read the entire series in a about a month and a half

Toni September 1, 2010 at 10:27 PM

What is a “pom de san”? Proper spelling please. I have not seen it in print. I listen to the books on audio.

Cherry September 10, 2010 at 11:52 AM

A Pomme de sang literally means apple of blood. It is a favored pet of the Master of the City vampire, in this case, Jean Claude. His pomme de sang is Jason, a werewolf in Richard’s clan.

Maryse September 11, 2010 at 11:29 AM

Thanks Cherry! :)

byron January 19, 2011 at 11:20 PM

…not entirely correct cherry. a pom de sang is not a ter specific to a master of the city. any master vampire powerful enough might have one. when muzette visits she has an underaged pome de sang with her. muzette is not a master of the city.

Love reading the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series just finished reading Bullet and realy enjoyed this one. Would
like to read about Richard and Anita getting back together more. Looking forward to the next book.

Kari January 29, 2011 at 2:26 PM

Do her Anita Blake short stories fall in between these novels or are they completely stand alone? I am not even sure how many short stories there are.

Maryse January 31, 2011 at 5:30 PM

Good question…I’m gonna look it up and get back to you guys!

barbara g February 28, 2011 at 7:40 PM

when was her book stange cady published

Rose June 2, 2011 at 8:01 PM

No matter how many men Anita gets involved with..I love Richard the best..He is the most manly of the bunch…not that I mind the other guys..Nathaniel is special…gotta love him…Micah is always there for her..Jean Claude is Jean Claude… But Richard is the real sex pot!

Maryse June 5, 2011 at 10:12 AM

I LOVED Jean Claude most. I did Richard also, for a while, but he got too mean for me. Unfortunately, Jean-Claude has been mostly missing in the latest books (‘cept for Bullet) but even in that one, it wasn’t the Jean Claude I usually sigh over…

Amy June 20, 2011 at 2:23 PM

I love this series I am currently re-reading it. Can’t wait for hit list

Teresa July 13, 2011 at 3:28 PM

I loved Richard and Jean-Claude from the beginning, but I’m really starting to go xrazy for Devil! Also, is Strange Candy actually part of the series?

angelique September 6, 2011 at 2:39 PM

I love this seires I really love the male characters richard and Jean-Claude. I like that anita is a n independent women who comes to depend on her men. I like that she is bad-ass and can protect herself but sometimes she will let her men protect her only after they argue about it. I loved that my friends also tell me they love the sex sence in the book

Debbie Johnson November 14, 2011 at 1:16 PM

I just started listening to the audio version of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series. I’m not a big fan of all the vampire books but fell in love with Sookie Stackhouse…and now I’m hooked on Anita Blake. I love burying down in my pillows at night, slipping in my earbuds and listening to this funny, sexy, tough woman fight the supernatural. The narrator is awesome and I can tell when characters change and who they are. The only complaint…listening to the books it seems like there a lot of “I said”, “He said”, “She said” to tell which character is speaking…but I get right past that! I’m on book 7 and moving right along!

Judy January 28, 2012 at 9:21 AM

I have read every book up to date so far nearly 3 times! I love it! I especially love Nathaniel, he’s just so adorable I just want to take him home with me! Infact I almost adore all of anita’s partners! If only books could come to life… I do think that Richard turned into a giant ass sometimes but I still like him for some reason.. Hooray for the magic mythical hotness action packed series that I love so much!!

Willow April 18, 2012 at 1:42 AM

I’ve read all the books and read them in two weeks the first time. I’m reading them for the second time. Jean Claude is my favorite and I feel like the series turned a little silly after she started sleeping with everything. I like the relationship with Micha as well. I just hope she gets back to the central theme a non vampire in love with a vampire.

annie cole May 10, 2012 at 7:45 PM

I have really enjoyed your books. The only thing wrong with them is once I start reading them I can’t stop until I finish them. Thank you for so many hours of enjoyable reading. You have a real talent for it.

Maryse May 11, 2012 at 9:41 AM

Hi Annie!

Here is Laurell K Hamilton’s direct website address. I’m sure she’d enjoy the note:

juanita jones May 18, 2012 at 8:35 AM

I absolutly love every book, it just keeps me reading and i’ve finished every book and im waiting on (Kiss the Dead) though that is proving to be extreamly hard. I love the characters that come into the book, there is something about Jean Claude that makes me wish i could take him home the details she puts into him just take my breath away. Micah and Nathaniel are just the best i can’t wait to see where the new book takes me…….. hopefully more sex, i can’t help it i love the sex scenes. I just think the sex scenes bring so much to the books and without that i don’t even think anita would be the same character she has grown to be. She still captivates me and im sure millions of readers.

Jenn June 29, 2012 at 10:41 AM

Where to go with this series?? When I read the comments, I sometimes feel like I am the only one that feels this series had a complete derailment! I love this series! However, past the 10th book, I just feel it took such a downward spiral with no hope of recovery.. The last book “Kiss the Dead”, was the worst yet. The entire book is her explaining her lifestyle to the other police and marshalls, or discussing how good she is at her job. When she isn’t doing that, she is feeding the Ardeur (sp?).. I miss the old days,, when Anita just did her job, and didn’t need to talk about how good she was, cause she just was! When a chapter wasn’t wasted on describing weapons, or in bullet when there was an entire chapter describing a workout! I love romance, lust and sex in a book… But, Holy CROW! Anita get off your back! And seriously? Where is Jean-Claude!!!!! sigh….. That being said, I still anxiously await every book release and will continue to do so.. Each time hoping that it will be closer to the old Anita that I fell in love with.

Briana July 9, 2012 at 2:33 AM

is there going to be book 22? after Kiss The Dead?

SUZANNE July 10, 2012 at 2:21 PM

Do you know when Laurel Hamiltons Anita Blake book 22 will be out? I was a little disappointed with book 21 but don’t want to have to wait a year to see how book 22 will be.

Briana July 12, 2012 at 7:05 PM

Stevie August 10, 2012 at 4:20 AM

I am in love with the books….i love most of the guys but i have to say my fav is Jason i know he is not a main but i love him….and i have been a little said these last few books have been without him and Jean Claude :( …but know matter what i am a fan. And i would like to know if there will be a book 22? i would really love to know…Thanx

jennifer August 13, 2012 at 10:08 PM

Is there gonna be a book 22 and if so what will it take to get Anita to take the 4th mark

Richard August 30, 2012 at 12:01 PM

I have been reading the Anita Blake series and have been enjoying the imaginative plots very much. I am on book 12 and getting bored with all the sex. It’s gotten to the point that she screws everything that walks, crawls and stumbles in front of her. In my opinion your plots are strong enough without all the sex. I know, I know, they are romance novels! I found that out after I started reading the series, although not much romance is going on here, just pure unadulterated copulating. Don’t take me wrong I’m not a prude, but I find myself skimming through her sexual exploits (Evelyn Wood style) to get to the meat of the plot! I guess what I’m getting at is there a point to this further on in the series, or is it just sex thrown in to amuse the bored female reader? Just asking before I read on? I must say I love your imaginative plots.

Kai October 18, 2012 at 8:30 AM

I hope she doesnt stop, making these books ;-)

Danielle November 19, 2012 at 8:52 PM

I loved this series, heck I cant wait until the next one comes out, but I agree with Richard …enough with the lying on your back Anita! Asher annoys the crap out of me and I would love to hand Micah a spine..however,that is a testament to how real she creates her characters. I am dying to find out about Merry Gentry too. Thank goodness LKH ‘s health improved and her muse is back…

Vicky November 21, 2012 at 12:27 AM

If you read the list of Anita book titles up above it states: Affliction—- expected release date set for June 4th, 2013

MONIQUE December 11, 2012 at 10:46 AM

Jiah December 27, 2012 at 5:17 AM

I love this series! I just finished reading Kiss the Dead. Though it wasn’t the best of the series I still enjoyed it. Richard got annoying and mean but I wish LKH would bring back more of him and Jean Claude, I think I like all the guys though and Jade! June 4, 2013 needs to hurry up

Jen January 3, 2013 at 9:22 AM

Just finished up book 6 and I must say that Anita is no longer my hero. I can’t get over her betraying Richard. I heard that the story gets lost in future books because of the sex so I probably won’t be reading any more of the series. I agree with Richard’s post.

Tamra February 24, 2013 at 11:36 PM

I’m on book number 14 and i’ve only been reading them for a week but I have a lot of spare time on my hands lol

Jane April 28, 2013 at 3:29 AM

I love the series but I agree with Richard and related previous comments: The having-sex-with-everything-that-moves is getting OLD! What happened to her JOB? There’s no longer a fun, sexy, action packed plot, no compelling storyline, just over the top, overkill sex to the point it’s boring (and I for one think sex should NEVER be boring;-) and then there’s Anita’s whining! LKH needs to re-read her own work and get the storyline back on track. I will continue to read the series but I’d like to see a return to Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter and not Anita Blake, I Wanna Bonk Every Body I Lay Eyes On.

Sarah May 21, 2013 at 5:42 AM

I am on Burnt Offerings right now. And while I love the mixture of gore and touch of romance (or sex), does anyone else find Anita really, really annoying? Like feminist with a height complex, self-entitled and arrogant? I know characters have flaws, but these seem over played. I really think Laurrel K. Hamilton has had some problems being short throughout her life. And hates blondes. And overcompensates for her religious background.

That being said, I am still reading the series. And they’re not all bad. . . these things are just irking me

Gwen June 17, 2013 at 8:34 AM

I am 18 years old, and when I was 16 I came across these books. I never really liked reading before that, but after reading these books I love reading now. It is amazing what a different a good author and story can have on a person. I read 12 of the books in 6 weeks. I was hooked on them.

Megan June 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM

Brilliant – LKH is just brilliant. I have read the entire series three times over and cannot contemplate moving on to another author. I am getting “withdrawals” and can’t wait for her latest book to come out. However, I do agree with Richard and a few of the other comments – too much sex. It actually becomes boring after a while and I too find myself skipping those part and getting on to the real action and plot. Do not forget that she is a Vampire Hunter/Necromancer first, sex symbol second. Please bring back Richard (werewolf) – he is the most captivating character and there must be a way that Anita and Richard can eventually make it together – after all he is her “real love”!!!

Ele August 8, 2013 at 3:12 PM

I have read ALL the books and can’t wait for the next. Which book was it that Jason went back home?

Jennifer Seamon August 9, 2013 at 5:05 PM

Hey Ele Blood Noir is the one where jason goes home check out this website for confirmation

Lee August 16, 2013 at 5:15 AM

Waiting for books 22 & 23 to arrive at our local bookstore – can’t wait to read them.
Hit list – dissapointed me a bit – I expected more, than the way in which ‘the mother of all darkness’ *spoiler*.
Love all your characters, even the annoying Richard and still feel sorry for Asher, hope he finds what he needs soon.
Love Jean-Claude to bits – wish Anita would *spoiler*. Be interesting to read more about Edward’s involvement with Anita’s cases and wondering about Olaf after *spoiler* – it’s going to make him even more meaner & scarier.
Miles of Smiles.
Lee (South Africa)

I have loved the Anita Blake series and am sad that I am on the last one. I have read all 20 of her books in 2 months. I laugh I cry, I get angry. It has been a long time since I have found a series that has moved me this much. I hope that she continues to write the story of Anita as I just can’t seem to get enough.

Peter September 10, 2013 at 6:37 AM

Got you all beat. Read them all in 8 days. Fun books. This series was recommended to me after I finished all of Jacqueline Carey’s books so I will now recommend the reverese to you all. If you liked these, definitely read Carey’s Kushiel’s (fill in the blank). There are nine of them in three related trilogies. Her other work is engaging as well.

Dana September 18, 2013 at 4:09 PM

I have read all of the books, and Loved them all! I have recently decided to re-read the the intire series! My favorite part is when Anite Blake recieves the Arduer from The mother of All darkness! Then, it gets really interesting!!!!! Michah, Jean-claude, Jason, Nathaniel, Nicky….. The list goes on!!!

Tina October 6, 2013 at 1:11 AM

Hated to read when I was younger now that a friend told me about this books I am non stop reading. I must say I hold 2 jobs and still finish one book in only 3 days. I can’t seem to want to put them down. I’m on Skin Trade now and can’t wait to see what happens. Love em. Hope they don’t stop..

Helen November 13, 2013 at 7:21 AM

Finished the affliction book and have also read dancing. Wanted to know.. If/when there will be more?
I’m throughly addicted and what to read more…
It doesn’t feel finished to me :/
All these books are amazing!!
<3 xx

Jennifer November 16, 2013 at 11:17 AM

I agree with Richard above about all the sex and how she’s screwing everything in site. I’m on the book Incubus Dreams which is taking me a long time to get into. I’m on chapter 22 which isn’t that far into the book and already I’m bored. I’m not a prude, but jeez, come on already with this ardeur stuff. It’s boring!!!! I truly don’t know if I can finish this series. Someone please tell me it gets better! I have all the books, and will feel guilty if I don’t finish the series, but it’s not keeping my attention anymore.

Donovan Byron December 30, 2013 at 3:03 AM

I was checking to make sure I indeed had all of the Anita Blake series and I came across the Barns & Noble site. Turns out I am missing Beauty. I am just waiting for confirmation now on my order but, I was reading the comments people left about the book Beauty. They are complaining about spending 2.99 for a 28 page ebook. It’s 3 bucks people! I bet I can find that between my couch cushions. There goes my email program, I’m going read Beauty right now. Shakes head at people complaining about 3 dollars.

Amanda January 1, 2014 at 7:07 PM

I have loved Anita Blake every since I Read Obsidion Butterfly when it came out! Then I went back and read them all from the beginning.. I love LKH and also enjoy the Merry Gentry books and have even read a few of her others.. But I have to agree that all the sex screwed up the story line so much that I had to struggle through some of the books even up to Hit List.. But I will say that it gets better in Dance with the Dead not a lot but better.. I’m on Affliction now and I am really enjoying this one! Not as much sex tho it is wound in there but a lot of story and action and that’s what I love about the series.. The new Merry will be next, then it’s that eager wait for more Anita!! I’m still hangin in there as a fan and I would advise everybody else to hand in there too..

Amanda January 1, 2014 at 7:08 PM

Norma S January 15, 2014 at 5:31 PM

I just love Anita Blake series. I started reading her because I like anything supernatural and anyone fighting against it is number one in my books. I am on the last three right now and can’t wait to get into them.

Ronda January 18, 2014 at 3:50 AM

I am almost done reading all of the books. I am on book 20 now and I am wondering what comes after Dancing!! Can you let me know when the next book is coming out or if it’s coming out! I would love continue reading about Anita and her great lover life and what’s happening with Mommy Dearest!

Linda January 21, 2014 at 3:22 PM

I have been reading the Anita Blake series since the very first book. I’ve just completed Kiss the Dead…just ordered Affliction….CANNOT WAIT to get it in. I love everything about her books. The sex scenes do not come in until book 5, I believe and it just gets steamier from there. It’s part of who Anita is becoming. She has so many things going on with her body, there’s no telling where LKH will take us with Anita. It’s extremely exciting where she’s going. I hope it doesn’t ever stop. Each book, we find out something new with Anita. The name of the series is “Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter”, so the book will be centered around her. All her yummy men, just make it better; for me, anyway!

Jessica January 22, 2014 at 1:12 PM

Is there a book after affliction apart from dancing???

Kinta February 2, 2014 at 5:37 AM

I FREAKIN LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! I just finished Affliction and I am desperately hoping that she brings out another one (apart from dancing) because I have developed this obsessive emotional attatchment to these characters and there is a very high chance that I will cry if Laurell doesn’t keep writing these books!! I feel the same way about the Merry Gentry series too!! And I have to say, I am completely in love with Wicked Truth, Nicky, Edward and even Oleg!!! YES I SEEM TO HAVE A WEIRD CRUSH ON ALL THE SOCIOPATHS IN THIS BOOK!! Not that Wicked Truth are really sociopaths but they are sooooooo freakin yummy

Sandy leach February 26, 2014 at 3:28 AM

Enjoyed all books, don’t think much of Richard, is there a new Anita Blake book for2014

rae March 7, 2014 at 3:03 PM

Love love this series and I just finished bloody bones lol I know I’m behind lol. Can’t wait to keep reading. Anyone else see the lead from twisted sister as jean Claude js

Jenn Seamon March 7, 2014 at 7:49 PM

Hey do you mean twisted sister as in the group ?

selkie March 17, 2014 at 2:06 PM

The series comes and goes… she lost me from Incubus Dreams through to Hit List- I like more story with my porn. She begins to redeem herself and gets back to the story in Kiss the Dead and Affliction has five stars… excellent story, a plot that moves forward, some nice sexy bits (but not too much)- and most of all the Anita I learned to love in the first few books.

heaven April 30, 2014 at 8:54 PM

I love this series!!!! I shall devote my life to collecting every book!!!! As a fellow writer, I soon hope to even be graced by Laurell Hamilton s presence!!!

Shadowchild May 24, 2014 at 6:19 AM

I have read all of these books and most of the short stories, and I have to say that I love them all. I know that the sex scenes get a bit intense, but that’s a part of who she is. I agree that we could use some more of Jean-Claude and Richard. Maybe have those two have a big fight for a final death match. I know Jean-Claude would have to win, but I’m getting tired of hearing about him anyway. Well that’s all I have to say accept tell LKH I said thanks for all the beautiful works as an author and God bless her work, her, and her family.

Kendall July 9, 2014 at 1:21 AM

Will there be a new book in the Anita Blake series or have we seen the last of Anita, Edward, Jean Claude and all the rest of the bunch?

Robin Dawkins August 19, 2014 at 1:49 PM

I have really enjoyed this series. How about a movie!

Ashley September 8, 2014 at 8:04 PM

I’m just finishing Affliction. I have been addicted since Guilty Pleasures. Absolutely LOVE the series. Hope she never stops! Cheers to 20 years of Anita Blake :) For my fellow super fans is Dancing the next novel or is it an outtake novel? And I saw on LKHs fb the release of Shiver of Light. Is that the official next novel?? I need to know! I will finish Affliction shortly I’m sure :) And she’s also having a contest for the title of her next next Anita Blake novel, check her fb :)

Sean September 25, 2014 at 1:45 PM

Thank you so much for this list. I have read up to skin trade then sadly lost track of the series. This will put me right back where i left off. A thousand thanks to you :)

Maryse September 25, 2014 at 2:12 PM

My pleasure Sean!! :D

patty October 3, 2014 at 5:35 PM

Laurel K Hamilton is my favorite author. Have read all of the Anita Blake books. I shake my head sometimes and think how can she think up this stuff. She has an awesome imagination. One thing I agree is I miss having Jean Claude as a major player. If you read book one and in the earlier books the power between them was incredible. Micah and Nathaniel are okay… Jean Claude and even Richard. Together the three of them hold much power… Yes for those who asked… heard the book Jason will be released end of 2014. (?)

Marsha January 6, 2015 at 5:18 PM

DO NOT read “Jason” unless you want to spend the entire-and I mean entire-book relating to her personal graphic group sex scene. This book was nothing but cover to cover PORN!

Kathy Shelton January 26, 2015 at 10:24 PM

Just finished series up to Cerulean Sins & look forward to getting the rest of the series. For one thing, “the ardeur” really helped me up put much of my own youth into perspective. Hoping that Asher has procedures that reduce the scars. Very much enjoy the creativity of introducing new monsters. Thanks, Laurell… Muuuah!

Kat April 15, 2015 at 10:50 PM

Just wondering why Ardeur isn’t on your list and where it would fall in the order? Are there any others not listed?

Maryse April 16, 2015 at 9:38 AM

Hi Kat! Ardeur is more of a companion book where other writers discuss the characters and world dynamics. Essays from other authors… if you will. Not an actual novel that fits into the storyline. I hope this helps!

samantha May 16, 2015 at 10:58 PM

Does anyone know where I can buy all of the Ainta Blake books at one time, not like separate orders.

Masha June 11, 2015 at 2:53 PM

Just read the first 106 pages of “Dead Ice”. Although the first 15ish pages opened a new storyline, the next 80 something pages were a lover by lover rehash off past books. I probably will not invest any more time (on this book) or money on Ms. Hamilton’s works.

Selkie June 11, 2015 at 4:53 PM

I’ve held off as I anticipated exactly what you say here. Thanks for stop me from throwing ggod money after bad (the bad being the last merry and jason)

Erica June 13, 2015 at 8:12 PM

This is my second time reading all the way through. I love this series to death. Edward and Olaf are my favorites. I just wish Olaf would come back. *SPOILER** I just kept hoping book after book that he’d be back, new and improved and even scarier and juicier. Will she finally have to kill him? Oh I can’t wait for it. XD

Letitia Graham September 1, 2015 at 7:22 PM

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST LOVE THIS SERIES. I mean it took me almost 3 weeks to read all 25 books. Dear God i hope its not the last book, it simply just can’t be, its to devastating to think it mite be. After all Anita has to get married. Above all Asha and Kane are totally a BIG BIG pain to deal with.

km September 14, 2015 at 9:38 PM

I love anita Blake ! When will next book be realesed? The one that comes after Dead Ice.

David Miller November 19, 2015 at 3:21 PM

when will the next release be after Dead Ice

kerri December 17, 2015 at 3:21 AM

Love this series although it is hard to visualize a character description of Anita with all the different book pictures of her. Any recommendations on a face to put with the character?

Gladys S. Acevedo January 6, 2016 at 12:08 AM

Done with this series, which one is your next series 1-10?

Linda February 27, 2016 at 1:29 AM

I read all the book they are all AWESOME

Michelle Vinje May 26, 2016 at 11:02 AM

I love the whole séries i keep reading them over with every new book that comes out i know u put about 2 new books à year thank you for all your hard work these books are wonderful thank you

Tamara bartlett May 28, 2016 at 4:21 AM

What about the ardour book?

Emie May 30, 2016 at 8:51 AM

How do I buy Beauty? Does it correlate with the series? Could someone please explain this a little bit to me. Also I can’t find it anywhere except kindle, and I do not own one. Also I don’t want to move ahead because I don’t want to skip anything.

Danielle June 2, 2016 at 6:44 PM

Emie, beauty is a stand alone book. It’s not one you have to read to enjoy the rest of the books but you do need to read the rest of the books to understand beauty. So keep going and good luck with finding the book.

And I was absolutely flabbergasted with how many people could talk down to an artist. Yeah there was a lot of sex, but if you actually read the books, you would know the amount of sex was to keep people from dying, like Damien and Richard and Jean Claude. And the amount of shame she had with herself for what she had to do to save her other lovers lives was heart wrenching.
I am absolutely addicted to Anita Blake and I am very proud and more thankful than I could ever say to Laurel for pouring her time, thoughts, heart and soul into these books.
These books and Laurels writing style have inspired a book of my own which will be published in less than a year. I never had the urge to write until after I read Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry. Absolutely SINsational. Thank you Laurel for your beautiful mind and inspiring imagination.

Linda Dronsfield September 1, 2016 at 6:12 PM

What is the very first book for the series or in order?

Maryse September 1, 2016 at 6:17 PM

It’s the first book on the list. This list, lists all of the books, in the proper reading order. I hope that helps!

Sian September 21, 2016 at 5:10 AM

Does anyone know when Crimson death will be available on kindle? Really want to carry on reading the series, I love it lol.

Mary November 1, 2016 at 11:03 AM

I love these books but I do agree that the sex has gotten in the way of the story line. Jason was a complete waste of time just one sex scene after another with no plot. And I find the Richard character completely annoying. He is such a baby.

Read all Anita Blake’s and Merry Gentry’s. Didn’t hear anything about Wounded though till just now. I’ve looked it up to pre-order on Amazon and it’s not there. I’ll keep trying though.

I heard she wrote a novella for Richard but can’t seem to find it. Do you know where I can find?

Wounded should be read before Crimson Death.
