Y’all know I have a slight *ahem* (extreme) penchant for disturbing books and since my craving for an exciting psych-thriller read wasn’t exactly met with that last one, I had to give it another go. So where did I pick from? In my Ultimate List of Book Lists!

Yep! I was updating the List of Gasp-Worthy Plot Twists & Crazy Endings with some new suggestions, and I saw that cover sitting there from my first round of recommendations, and I was all….. oooooooooooh that looks CREEPY. How could I possibly resist a book title and book cover like THAT?? PERFECT for my mood. Book Review – Bang by E.K. Blair

Bang (Black Lotus #1) (The Black Lotus Series)
<— Oh boy. That? Yeah… wow. That was one of the craziest crazy-train book rides I’ve ever been on. Highly recommended to me by one of my favorite authors, I put it on my latest TBR list, knowing this one was up very soon and I ended up starting it on my weekend “pontoon boat” ride ’cause everyone was scalloping and I… don’t really do that. LOL!

But I had my iPad, and while I *did* have two brand spanking new books that I was about to squirrel over, they weren’t loaded in my app yet, and there was NO signal where I was. But lo and behold, I HAD loaded “Bang”. YAY!!! Totally all over that and obviously meant to be! I wanted to read it, so what better time than now? And OMG what a jolt this one gave me. read more

This is the one with that blurb that made my eyes bug out, prompting me to do crazy flips of excitement. I knew I was about to embark on something very scary… very risqué. A unique and often dark introspective look into a specific and detrimental social issue that is the cause of so much childhood and teen turmoil following so many, too many, right into adulthood. The trauma of childhood bullies and the scars they cause from their incessant abuse.

That’s right. Me. Up there. That was how I felt upon finishing this mind f… redface er…. delightfully convoluted story.  HOLY MOLY… I got it. No I didn’t. But I GET it… now. And yet I totally didn’t. But I did. But I wasn’t sure if it was me? Or her? Or had my mind just… cracked after all of that? rolleyes I don’t even care, ’cause IT. WAS. AWESOME!!

The Ultimate Book List of Gasp-Worthy Plot Twists & Crazy Endings

Well… it’s obvious I’m BIG on crazy twisty-turny books that shock the heck outta me. I like ’em “psych-thriller” (as it seems those are the ones I’ve been reviewing lately). But ANY book that leads me in a certain way to believe a certain “thing” (or to deduce it and anticipate it) only to SHOCK me right outta my expectations and/or comfort zone, well… I JUST LOVE that!

I especially love it when it’s clever. SO well done that I went on “a certain story’s journey in my own head” and the author was actually taking me on a different journey entirely. GAH! eek *blink blink* read more
