Haley thought this one sounded interesting, but she forgot the title.

Theme/trope-wise (I love it!! Post apocalyptic or dystopian). It almost sounds like The Handmaid’s Tale or even a book I just one-clicked “Vox” that I haven’t read yet (where women are only allowed to say a limited number of words a day). Eeeeep!

Or even Folsom (The End of Men Book 1 by Tarryn Fisher and Willow Aster (though that one, it’s the women that have survived and taken over… and the men that are scarce). P.S. Here’s my my review. read more

Mary Ann is looking for this series! I’m not much of a historical romance buff, but this one sounds pretty great!

She asks:

Good day,

I hope this email finds you well.

I’m looking for a mini-book series like short stories

The series is about a knight/conquerer who marries a handmaiden as a wife instead of a bride chosen for him.

There is a plot against them as they are required to produce an heir but someone poisons her tea that she is unable to get pregnant.

Cathy needs our book help! And I LOVE foodie romances and chefs and grumpy characters, so YAY US!!!

She asks:

I am looking for a book about a chef whose car breaks down close to a struggling Inn and he saves the day for the grumpy owner when he fixes a meal for her guests.

He ends up staying, cooking and I think doing repair work and romance ensues.

P.S. He was heading out to someplace to scope out another restaurant to start up with a friend when his car broke down. His friend ended up in a later book, as well. read more

Kylie is looking for this one! Ohhhh almost a step-brother step-sister situation, but not quite…

She asks:

Hi Maryse!

I’ve just found your blog and I’ve been reading it all morning!

I’ve been desperately trying to remember the name of this book and would love your help. I think it was written in the 2010s and I think I read it around 2018-20.

These are the details I remember:

I think the couple were childhood sweethearts and they broke up after discovering their parents were having an affair together. It was the heroine’s mother and the hero’s father. Both of their families were pretty well off at the beginning.

At the beginning of the book, I believe the heroine’s mother kills herself and h goes to a snowy cabin to clean out her mother’s things where she sees H again. There they are snowed in together.

H is quite cruel to h in the present because he blames her for their parents’ affair together.

I remember her being a teacher at a private school and I think she was being stalked or blackmailed (not by hero).

Any help is much appreciated!
