Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!!!! It is a COLD day here in Florida (I’m worried about a few of my poor trees), and it will be a very cold weekend too. HARD FREEZE. Yes, I know I’m from Canada and am used to much harder freezes, but, you know… it’s been awhile. 😉
So I’m staying inside and under piles of blankets, in fuzzy pajamas all weekend and reading. I’m going to get hot chocolate and marshmallows too. And luckily, I have plenty of books to choose from. Those I’ve already one-clicked, those on my TBR list (don’t forget, “Tasha’s Best of 2017” list has become my newest TBR list. LOL!!).
P.S. if you haven’t seen all of the reader favorites “Best of 2017” lists here yet, <— you can see them all here (I have 4 more to post this weekend, including my own!)
plus…

!!
Reader Question – The dark read about the girl that escapes a cult and the guy that wants revenge…
Sonia needs our help, but there’s a TON of detail in here, so proceed with caution. I’ll try and include spoiler-alerts if I see ’em. 🙂
Ohhhhh boy I just read her whole description and I TOTALLY get why she had to put it down for awhile. This one sounds like it could make your blood run cold…
She asks:
I read this book and had it on my currently reading shelves on goodreads. But I had stop reading it cause emotionally I found it hard to read. So stupid me deleted it on gd.
Reader Favorites – Grey’s Top Twelve of 2017 List
GREY!!!!! How I LOVE GREY! The shade (grey), the books (grey) 😉 and… my very own awesome book-bud (aka Grey), that’s as much as an earlybird as I am, loves to toss glitter and confetti and sparkly things in the air to rain upon us… LOVES these “best of” lists as much as I do, and she has AMAZING taste in books. In fact…
OMG GREY!!!! This list is AWESOME. Loaded in awesomeness that I loved too, but I LOVE that you let us know WHY, and HOW you were affected by each one of your “best of” choices. I am SO honored that you are sharing this with us, my friend. <3
Melissa Brown – The Compound Series Reading Order
I LOVE this premise!! I’ve always loved to read stories and watch movies about people raised (and/or) still living in cults and how much their lives differ from ours, and here is an entire series, just for us!!
Malin: The Compound series by Melissa Brown. A six star series.
Rachel: I liked Wife Number Seven. It was a really interesting look into that kind of lifestyle. I would’ve liked more of a look and less of the other stuff that went on, but what can I say, I’m a voyeur at heart.
Heather: I just read the box set! Amazing!
Reader Confession – Hanne used to secretly read her mother’s "bodice rippers" way back when…
Tee hee!! I can relate to this confession!!!
Hanne confesses:
For some reason I just remembered I used to secretly read my mother’s romance (and my dad’s western) paperbacks back in the 80’s when I was way too young for them.
The only romances I really remember are Bertrice Small’s book series on Skye O’Malley.
Anyone else remember these or any other old classics in the genre? I suspect my taste has somewhat evolved since I adored these ‘bodice rippers’…
Yep… Well. Let me clarify. I actually didn’t read romance stories when I was young, but I DID do exactly as Hanne used to. I’d sneak all my mom’s horror & thriller books. One that stands out for me, in particular was Coma!!! GASP!!
