Happy Release Day! Michele’s review on GR of The Fate of Crowns has me wanting to read it. And I got The Wife Upstairs with my BOTM box last month, but I was busy reading Good Girl, Bad Blood. So, will definitely jump in on that- sometime. My box this month is coming any minute. 😂 The samples I have started and piles of bought, not read are really stacking up here. 😅
I was sooo tired yesterday, I couldn’t focus on anything but keeping my eyes open. Today I’m feeling better, so hoping to choose one and get a good start going.
Oh! I finished Never His Girl too. Was a quick read for me. I liked it, better than the first I think. The ending definitely made me want to see what happens in book 3, but I think that doesn’t come out until June.
Also, I asked my parents to make me Banoffee Pie. Have you ever had it? They delivered it yesterday and I don’t think it turned out the way it was supposed to. The condensed milk didn’t solidify like it should, so it was more like pudding. But it tasted oh so good, and I’ve been eating it anyway.
Annnnnd nooooowwww I’m hungry!!!!! I’ve never had it, but I’m going to look it up now.
It’s pretty rich, but not unbearable for me. I have a high tolerance. 🤣 But even some things, like an Oreo fluff or something are way too much for me.
Banoffee Pie? 🧐😉
Lol, No one had ever heard of it here either. I’m assuming it’s like toffee/banana. They used this recipe https://tasty.co/recipe/banoffee-pie. And I think you just have to make sure you bake the sweet and condensed longer so it sets up. Or keep an eye on it. Since we didn’t even know what to expect, weren’t sure of the results. But they followed directions spot on.
I’ve since read other recipes on it to see how it’s supposed to look, lol. And one said you could make the crust and I think the de leche days ahead. That would cut back on time for sure.
OMG TOFFEE & BANANA???????? OMG. My FAVORITE flavors.
I settled on a book. I’m reading The Heiress Gets a Duke by Harper St. George.
So many sound good so I thought I’d read a little farther into the 1st one I picked up and if I wasn’t reeeally feelin it, I’d try another to gauge my mood. This is hitting the spot so far!
hey, are you guys following what’s happening inside the capital building in DC?
I walked away for 30 minutes to clean out my fridge and my phone blows up with messages. OMG!
I am so sad R for the US and for the world
Me too. But maybe this is what had to happen to wake people up.
Just catching up on it after work. I can barely comprehend it.
I doubt, but hope Pence will use his power for good and use the 25th amendment. Glad they are all going back.
But again it is……I dont even know what to say.
I wish we could be surprised.
Humanity is sh*t. That’s all I think when I see these things. It’s so overwhelmingly depressing, I have to tune out. And reading everybody ranting and arguing and offering their opinions on politics and the dividing of people or races or offering conspiracy theories furthers my opinion that humanity is sh*t and so far removed. Makes me wonder if I see things differently as an adult or if it’s always been this way. I think social media is beneficial to businesses and keeping in touch with family you may not always keep in touch with otherwise or even getting the word out about things of interest. But as a whole, people are stupid and it’s really shown their immaturity and lack of compassion to me. So sad. I’ll continue to live in my books.
The conspiracy theories are the final straw for me. I can’t hear them anymore. I did a lot of “cleaning” last summer on my social media feeds but I think it’s time to do another sweep.
I have trouble eliminating bc I keep a limited amount of friends anyway, and the more spirited posts come from the other side of the family or acquaintances I’ve acquired through kids friends or activities. If I’m seeing it in excess, I unfollow rather than remove.
I tried following but it wasn’t enough. I have some pretty antagonistic friends/family members. Luckily, my FB was created for my author life, so I have no problem removing “real life” friends/family. I posted my intentions yesterday and have been happily unfriending today. I just said it’s not personal and that it’s better to unfriend on FB than in real life.
OMG how did I miss that Sarina Bowen’s Roommate is MM?? Does she have other MM books besides Him? What else have I missed? *hyperventilates*
So, I have to give the dog his medication 2hrs after I give his first and it’s tough on me at night, bc J stays up until 20 min before I have to get up and give it and I’m so completely drained that it’s really hard to keep my eyes open. So, I can’t read my paperback and have decided to turn on documentaries the past couple nights. I’m not a big documentary person and apparently, it’s akin to watching the news to me and holy cow does it ever make it hard to keep my eyes open! I caught myself closing them 4 times one night!! So, last night, I got smart and really hunted for something different to watch and I came across After We Collided. I thought I’d already watched it, but no, it’s the sequel to After, which I did watch. Must be newer bc it said 2020 release. Anyway, it was bad. Not the acting, but the story. So incredibly toxic and I just kept thinking the whole time, omg grow up! What are you doing? You need therapy and you need therapy. This is so unhealthy. And why aren’t there real friends to step in and say, this isn’t how a relationship should be. How unprofessional in the workplace, so many things. But I couldn’t turn it off either. Totally fast forwarded through all the sex scenes, of which there were many. But I know this is based on books, so I went to read spoilers for the rest of the books in the series bc, hey, still curious! Lol!! And turns out it’s all about the same, maybe except for the last book? Might be a little more maturity in that one. Not mad I watched it though.
So, any show/movie suggestions to help me out?
I need some movie suggestions too.
I felt like I had so many on the back burner for when I had time and now that I do, I can’t find them! I don’t even know where to look. I have Hulu, Prime, Netflix, HBO, Disney. So I’m up for stuff from any of those.
FLT
He wasn’t the kind of guy a woman wanted to pin her hopes and dreams on.
Truly (New York, #1) by Ruthie Knox
(a Jan girl recommendation)
Oh, I really liked that one. Hope you enjoy!
I am loving it! Her character development of Ben is delicious LOL…and her Wisconsin milk maid is a hoot…
It feels like I didn’t sleep at all last night…
ditto. I kept refreshing Twitter.
I didn’t sleep last night either.
I couldn’t stop refreshing news stories.
FLT: The Irish tell a story of a man who fell in love with a fairy woman and went with her to live on an island lost to time and trouble. JP Monninger, Seven Letters
This book was recommended to me by the same person who recommended Monsters, so I jumped on it!
Ah, and where is this place of which you speak, a chana…methinks I may need to be there for a while…
Take me with you!
FLT- “A feminine wail floated through the crowded ballroom of the Bridwells’ newly built Fifth Avenue mansion.” The Heiress Gets a Duke by Harper St. George. I have 50 pages left so maybe another FLT today!! I’m really enjoying this one.
Looks good.
It was! The heroine’s stubbornness frustrated me at times, but she was honest in her feelings and not clueless to them, which was refreshing. Their chemistry was well done and I would’ve liked to see more from the side characters. Since I did just watch The Bridgertons, I think it’s a good one to read after.
I still have Bringing Down the Duke to read out of my limited HR too, but I heard more good things about book #1 and I’ve been slow to pick it up.
ooh
FLT: I sailed across the empty store, one knee on the seat of my rolling chair and my hands gripping the back. “We’re business owners!” I exclaimed, unable to contain my excitement.
From The Vow (Black Arrowhead series #1) by Dannika Dark.
It’s apparently a follow-up series to the Seven series, which I really liked. PNR about wolf shifters. There’s something I like about Ms Dark’s writing style. Hard to pin down, but the books are just easy to read, with characters who feel real, and you care about them.
ah, another writer I’ve been wanting to explore…
I don’t know if anyone else has read this but I stumbled upon a fantastic book
5 big big stars for me and I couldn’t put it down.
It’s called “ the light we lost” by Jill santoppolo ive never read anything by this author but it was amazing. I highly recommend it! Has anyone else read it? Best book I’ve read in ages.
I think I read it in lees than 12 hours it’s amazing how fast you can read when it’s good.
Oh I keep hearing awesome things about this one, Melinda!! I’m going to add your recommendation to tomorrow’s Friday Finds list.
Thank you!!! *safe hug*
