BIKER BLAST FROM OUR PAST ALERT!! I’m feeling nostalgic for this author (YAY ME!! I have a few books left to read by her), and just found this fun discussion amongst our book crew. I’ve already reviewed this book (Book Review – Under Locke by Mariana Zapata), but consider this a part 2. Kind of a reading “behind the book” peek. An addendum, if you will.
And it was so fun to re-read this entire conversation, ’cause it happened over the course of a few days, and I was prepping for Book Bash back then. ALL sorts of excited and nerve-wracking feelings flooded me all at once… ’cause I remember. 🙂 SO INTENSE!! 😬
Nadja: Hi Maryse, Just finished “Under Locke” by Mariana Zapata And it was GREAT! Alpha biker bad ass with a bad temper. Enjoyed the book very, very much.
It was funny (parts I had to laugh out loud my boyfriend was looking at me like I was crazy ) sweet and cool.
And it’s definitely a must read!!
Maryse: Halfway through it! Loving, too!
MichelleS: You know, I liked it. I liked it a lot. A lot a lot…. but it’s been a few weeks, I think, and now I can’t remember a thing about it. So there you go… not a five star for me if I can’t remember anything about it.
Erica: I liked it too but I noticed a whole lot of Kristen Ashley similarities (Sweet Dreams + Motorcycle Man). And a few other things. Not sure how I feel about that but I did enjoy reading it.
Maryse: Back to “Under Locke” for me. I know!! I can’t believe I’m not done yet, either. BUT!!! I just wanted to mention… I AM loving it so far (and I’m not putting it down ’cause I want to, that’s for sure). However the final prep stages until Book Bash are keeping me verrrrry busy.
But I’m home now, and it’s time for me to unwind with this brooding bad boy alpha that I am crushing so hard on.
He’s so moody. And rude. And bossy. And kinda mean. And at times…. SO sweet (which is my favorite ’cause when he is, it’s so special). Yep. LOVING!!
Kandace: Perfect description of him: Moody, bossy, mean-ish but also protective and at at times sweet. It’s definitely a slow burn.

Laura: loved it to ur probably taking so long because it’s like a million pages lol was really good though shows a different sort of side to mc’s ways!
Erica: On GR they were saying it was 900!! But after I said that I discovered 480 LOL. A little better than 900
Maryse: It feels like it (’cause when I started, I had been reading for a few hours and was only at like… 8%). LOL! BUT! I do have quite a few jobs in-between reading so I may be mistaken. 480 pages! Ahhhh that explains it. I’ll be at this for er… quite a few more hours. Hey I’m not complaining. This one’s totally working for me.
Jaime: Loved this book, but I did kind of lose interest at some point between the middle and end.
Donna: I loved this book!!
Maryse: Hehe. The first night when they all had to share the hotel room. Gah that was funny!
Ana: This was a favorite of mine definitely finished it in a day

Ashley: Such a good book. I keep wanting another book with someone like him. Sigh. Slow burn is a PERFECT description!
Maryse: Almost finished Under Locke!!! I know… longest time I’ve ever taken to read a book, but I’m tellin’ y’all, still loving it!
“Charlie” <— teehee!! He reminds me of back in the day a couple a years go when I fell hard for my alpha-males. He’s just so… WHOA! UGGGH!!!! and then… ahhhhhhhh .
And her? I just… feel as if I’m her (her reactions to stuff, her thoughts, and the goofy stuff that comes out of her mouth when she’s angry). LOL!!! That’s totally me. Nothing so far *crazy* is happening but plenty of “enough” (emotions of all sorts, especially) that has it so I’m connected to ’em and enjoying this one big time. <— Total book zombie right now…
Michelle: I really liked it, but like I said somewhere else in another post, after a couple of weeks (?) I can’t remember a thing about it. Didn’t even remember that she was Charlie!!! And when I LOVE a book, I remember just about everything. Lahn and Circe… Rhage and Mary…. well, you get the point. Why can’t I find a book like that? I really need one….
Maryse: LOL! Actually HE is Charlie (Dex is his middle name) but she’s the only one allowed to call him Charlie. ‘Cause he’s grumpy like that…
MichelleS: Well, there you go! You made my point!!
Maryse: Yeah… I get you. But, while I’m reading it, I’m feeling it (at least this one) so that is step #1 for me. We’ll see, after. P.S. I always have a hard time remember the “girls” name, no matter how hard I loved the book. Only a few of ’em can I tell you her name as quickly as I can tell you “his”. Craziest thing. Maybe I block ’em out on purpose…
MichelleS: I really liked it too. Just didn’t stick with me. That’s what I am looking for in a summer read. All the time in the world, and nothing has put me in a fog.
MichelleS: Since I only have a couple of “girls” in my head (as far as what they look like), the name doesn’t matter so much. Just hair color!! Now for the men… it’s basically a variation on one theme – unless they are well defined, like a Dex, for example. (the “rapist mustache” – heehee)
Paulette: Michelle I understand I read so many books that I can tell you if I liked them or not but not much else, but there are those few that grab you and you don’t forget

Kate: 50% in and really loving it! He’s so grumpy and then sweet and then grumpy and then sweet….
Mindy: I just bought this one. Hope I like it. I’m on a biker kick right now
Anne: I loved that book! I like how long it took for it to develop – the stolen moments and building between them was awesome!
Heather: I finished Under Locke yesterday, after a few days of reading.. Went straight into My Skylar and whoa! Read all night. It was fantastic!!!
