I have a pretty specific trope recommendation request from Priscilla so I’ll try and break it down and simplify it. 😉
That title pretty much says it all (though the heroine can also fall for her best GUY friend’s brother – that works too!), but she’s in the mood for a few particular things.
Okay this is what she’s looking for. She says:
TROPE:
- Female Lead is either dating or best friends with a guy.
- That guy most likely likes her or is in love with her BUT she falls for the older brother who is the black sheep of the family.
- He’s dark moody and doesn’t give a fudge about anyone or anything.
- And he threatens her… until he doesn’t anymore. Hahaha we all know how that one goes.
I know I have read books like that but I can’t remember the names, I remember scenes of books but not the titles even author because it’s been so long. I remember reading one exactly and both the girl and the guy best friend are in highschool and either the older brother is a senior or in college. But he is not way older.
Oooooh I remember one exactly – Credence by Penelope Douglas (but this one has a strong topic, ’cause it’s three guys – two brothers and the dad, but it’s something like that).
I looked in Goodreads and Google and the only lists that mentions “brother” is “My brothers best friend”, but not a “best guy friend’s brother”.
Please help
DO YOU KNOW ONE THAT FITS THIS TROPE?
Maryse: Right off the bat, my suggestion will be another Penelope Douglas book (Birthday Girl), but this one is just a bit different in that she doesn’t fall for her boyfriend’s brother, but she DOES fall for her boyfriend’s father (and he’s not a bully to her at all – in fact her own boyfriend is more of a bully, and his dad is sweet to her). Not quite an exact match, but a definite similar feel (and even a bit more forbiddeny, if you ask me). 😉 P.S. Here’s my Book Review
Priscilla: I read all except Birthday Girl. What I notice is that the author loves her male characters to share the girl around *blushes as she writes this*
Kelly: Corrupt by Penelope Douglas
Maryse: Wow! That will be the third book from her on this list. I LOVE IT!! LOL!
Mony: That book was amazing!
Priscilla: It’s kind of like that lol …On this one I prefer Kai actually.
Kelly: Kai vs Michael? Did you read Dean’s book?
Priscilla: In Corrupt Kai was interested in our female lead. Actually he was more nice to her. Damon, Will and Kai had more reason to be douches with the female lead. Because they thought they had a reason. Maybe I didn’t like Michael cause for me he was just mean lol.
Dean’s? Which is the title?
From the series I read Michael’s and Damon’s story. I wasn’t interested in Kai’s story hahah because I liked him with the FL lead from the first book hahaha also same with Will and Damon. I kind of lean more with Will but did love Damon. His story was my favorite! Will story doesn’t interest me cause I didn’t like Alex.
Priscilla: …Credence cause it’s just what I’m looking for.
Maryse: Another one that it an almost excellent match for this is one of my VERY FIRST indie favorites from Jessica Park (FLAT-OUT LOVE) and I still recommend that everyone MUST READ this for that awesome angst/best-friend feel-story but with a JAW-DROPPING TWIST!! This is still one of my 5-STAR FAVORITES FOREVER and ever.
You know when you really enjoyed a book, but the details become foggy and almost forgotten after awhile? This is NOT the case for this book. I remember SO MUCH including how I felt and the images I was seeing in my mind, while reading. This is an incredible, fulfilling HUGELY awesome love story!!! P.S. Here’s my Book Review.
Kisha: Omg, I love this trope also. Hard to find these. One that comes to mind that I read recently is Steal You Away by Victoria Ashley. I love the jealousy. I wouldn’t in real life but in books it my favorite.
Laura: Meant to Be by Terri Osborne ticks all the boxes and I remember it being funny too! Or Dream of 18 by Saffron Kent but she’s in love with her boyfriend’s father (not brother).

Oh Priscilla you are going to LOVE Birthday Girl!!
I’ll read it tonight thanks!
Im also on the look out for books that are just like what I asked, if I find them I’ll post them here. To help with a list that won’t be anywhere cause trust me I tried looking for it hahaha.
I started a list on read Goodreads but I only have credence cause it’s just what I’m looking for.
It’s kind of like that lol
On this one I prefer Kai actually.
But thank you for the recommendation 🙂

Oooooh I love jealousy in a romance book!!! It makes it so real, so I’m intrigued with this one!!
Meant to Be by Terri Osborne ticks all the boxes and I remember it being funny too!
Or Dream of 18 by Saffron Kent but she’s in love with her boyfriend’s father (not brother).
I love love triangle books especially involving brother’s fighting over the same girl or sisters fighting over the same guy. A few for tle brother trope that come to mind are
1 Black Swan Affair by KL Kreig
2. Vincent Brother’s by Abbi Glines
3. Buried in the Stars by Gretchen Stubbs
4. All of me duet by Siobhan Davis
5. Down to You by M Leighton
6. Up in the Treehouse by KK Allen
7. Truly by Carmel Rhodes ( I think this one may contain non/dubious consent)
8. Quarantine series by Drethi Anis ( I know this one contains non/dub consent)
Maryse you need a book list with this type of trope where the FC is in a love triangle with brothers or is in love with her sister’s bf or ex bf or her boyfriend’s best-friend.
