Finding Home
I’m an emotional book-zombie mess again!! I stayed up all night, reading this un-put-downable book. I ended up caring too much for a couple of characters that have both elated me, and disturbed me (well, especially one in particular). They made me sad, made me happy, made me sigh with the sweetness, made me worry, made me say to myself over and over again… “Oh no. This is not good. This can’t be good in the long run. This is trouble.” And yet, I loved it.

Book Review – A Discovery of Witches by Deborah E. Harkness
A Discovery of Witches: A Novel
This book has me confounded in regards to my stance on the whole thing. Did I like it? Love it? Sometimes both. The book is extremely descriptive. Every smell, sight and memory comes alive with consistent colorful and rich detail. But sometimes (okay, I admit… a lot) it bored me. I’d start fidgeting, and my attention would wane, and I’d be anxious to get back to the stuff that settles me into that awesome slow motion reading I love to do. You know, when the book is so good, it’s almost as if you start reading in slow motion, absorbing every detail, living every moment, heart pounding (in love or in fear). That’s when I know I’m into a book.
Book Review – Across the Hall by NM Facile
Across The Hall
I just finished this one at about 2am Thursday night (a work night, no less), so as you can imagine, I enjoyed it well enough. It may have robbed me of a bit of sleep, but my adrenaline levels remained steady (which means, I didn’t get to freak out 🙁 . Bummer, because I LOVE to do that when I read).
While the writing flow, to me, had it’s “iffy” moments in the beginning, it eventually held my attention, and had everything it needed to have (a troubled past, a love triangle, a scary situation and a heartbreaking moment). That said, I was glad when I was done. In fact, the end was a bit drawn out for my taste, but that’s probably just because I was ready to go to sleep, and this book wasn’t ready to say goodnight.
Book Review – In the Warrior’s Bed by Mary Wine
In The Warrior’s Bed
Quick Note: I read this one almost a year ago (it was a free e-book). I was still SUPER hardcore into my paranormals back then (I think this was my first foray into new territory). I decided to take a “breather” and try something new. I don’t know now, after all my recent awesome bad-boy books, if I’d still love this one as much as I did when I first read it, but I remember thinking while I was reading this, “WOW, I have been missing out…”
Book Review – Amaury’s Hellion by Tina Folsom
Amaury’s Hellion: Scanguards Vampires
Fun and sexy, but it didn’t “get me” as much as the first one did. In book one, there were misunderstandings and suspicions, along with a quickly developing deep emotional connection between the two main characters. It played out well enough, that even though they fell in love quickly, I believed it. When things got rough, the angst was real.
This one was an easy going read but I put it down. Amusing, some tension, lots of steamy moments, but “lighter” on the butterflies for me.
