BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!! A couple of Saturday add-ons to the list (below)!! Like:
- Uncovered by Emily Snow <— JUST RELEASED! Sounds like an interesting mystery romance. 😉 “My stepmother who took everything after my father died fourteen years ago. The plan was simple—figure out what role she played in my father’s death and expose her to the world. But here’s another thing: simplicity doesn’t exist, and my plans are flawed from the beginning because I never anticipated Oliver. Sexy, too smart for his own good, and infuriating, he’s the one person who could blow my plans to uncover Margaret. She’s his mother, and in another life, that would have made him my stepbrother…” <— Ruh Roh!
- Bloom (Unspoken Series Book 5) by Marilyn Grey <— JUST RELEASED!! (for those of you following this sweet-sounding series)
- Wicked Innocence by Missy Johnson <— JUST RELEASED! Oh sounds like risky reading-fun, too! She’s 17, lead singer of a band (with fake ID). “Then He showed up. Saxon Waite, ex bad boy of rock. He’s hot as hell and so into me. But he’s also twenty-five.” <— *eeeep!*
- Vain – Part Two (The Vain Series Book 2) by Deborah Bladon <— Thank you Fabi for this heads-up!! She says: “Vain part two is out! Oh ladies, if you haven’t yet read it…I mentioned it before but didn’t want to yell and scream until part two came out. *yelling and screaming*” <— YAY!!!! (P.S. And here’s VAIN (The VAIN Series Book 1)) 😀
Happy Friday!! Or should I call it “happy squirrel-day”? ‘Cause that’s what this list is doing to me. 😉 What to do? What to choose next? Of course, I have my current “trusty” TBR list that I just know is a winner through and through. And then Tuesday’s new releases seems so AH-MAZING and I’ve already finished and LOVED one from that list (Ugly Love <— my review). But then… there’s THIS LIST. GAH! 😀
Which ones? All of ’em have me interested. But for me, these are especially tempting: Truce (her whole series is on sale, and I LOVE this author. I still haven’t read Truce, and it seems everyone loved it like crazy. In fact, it’s on another one of my TBR lists, so I’m excited about it’s sale price!). Okay and Lovely Vicious (that one there, to the left. The recommendations for this series have me SO excited that I didn’t even read the blurb. In fact, I was told to go in blind for maximum impact). YAY ME!! And The Good Girl (not bargain priced, but OMG that dark-read blurb made me *eeeeeep!!*) It sounds awesome. Destined Series Box Set (sounds like an angsty love-triangle with tragedy and such). I usually love those. Ohhhh and also this new release: The Unfortunates (sounds dark, too… she’s “trained”? Kidnapped? I dunno… but freaky-sounding!)
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! )
NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order.
Todays latest reader recommendations and bargain ebook finds:

- The Good Girl by Mary Kubica <— JUST RECENTLY RELEASED!!! Not bargain priced at all, but that blurb gave me the stalker-creeps! “”I’ve been following her for the past few days. I know where she buys her groceries, where she has her dry cleaning done, where she works. I don’t know the color of her eyes or what they look like when she’s scared. But I will.” Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn’t show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, at first Colin Thatcher seems like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia’s life. ” <—- Eeeeeeeeeep!!!!
- Room For You (Cranberry Inn Book 1) by Beth Ehemann <— Stephanie found us this one today, and it’s got lots of good reviews!
- Room For More (Cranberry Inn Book 2) by Beth Ehemann <— it looks like book #2.5 will be out this upcoming Monday!
- High Stakes (A Dark Romance) by Vanessa Waltz <— MAFIA ROMANCE BOOK ALERT!! I’m bringing it back from last week’s list ’cause Andrea loved it! “Just read the most amazing book in a while. High Stakes by Vanessa Waltz. Haven’t read such a page turner in a while. Maryse you’ve got to try it. The heroine is so endearing.”
- Kill Devil Hills by Sarah Darlington <— Jenny found us one saying: “I loved this book!! And it is on sale for a limited time!!” A bit from the blurb: “Four months ago, Noah saved Georgie’s life, but he thought that was where his involvement with his friend’s sister would end. Now Georgie has returned home from the recovery facility her parents sent her away to and Noah, still haunted by the night that connects them, can’t stop himself from continuously trying to protect this girl he barely knows.“
- TRIPP (My Way Series Book 2) by H.J. Bellus <— Aimee found us this one! “Our relationship is what most would describe as fuel meeting fire. We were both hell bent on burning each other to the ground. Tripp was sexy as hell, a charismatic beast, and soon became one of my best friends. We shared a love of ice cream and tattoos as we blazed our own path that could only lead to a beautiful train wreck.”
- Lovely Vicious by Sara Wolf <— WHOA! I just realized, I have some pretty adamant recs for it!! Celeste says: “…it was… Perfect. I can’t say much without spoiling it, and I can’t believe I’m 40 years old and am so into this book, but it’s just amazing.” and Helen says: “Don’t read any blurb or reviews.Just go in blind.I promise you won’t regret it.” <— YAY!!! I love going in blind. I didn’t even read the blurb. 😀
- Savage Delight (Lovely Vicious Book 2) by Sara Wolf <— and here’s book #2!!
- Brutal Precious (Lovely Vicious Book 3) by Sara Wolf <— and here’s book #3 which was JUST RELEASED!!! This one might be fun for a weekend marathon… Yep. Did you see that? That’s me. Squirreling. 😛
- Destined Series Box Set: Mirage, Inception, Awakening, Facade and Epiphany by Ashley Suzanne <— Look what else Stephanie found us!! She says: “★ Destined Series Box Set by Ashley Suzanne ★ 5 Books in 1: Mirage, Inception, Awakening, Facade and Epiphany Get the entire series for 99¢! Great ratings and reviews!!!” Oh wow. Sounds Angsty and definitely love triangley!!” A bit from the blurb: “Mira and Danny are looking forward to their future as husband and wife. Everything was going according to plan. That was until tragedy struck them on graduation night leaving three broken people to pick up the pieces. Skylar has always stood in the background, watching his best friend begin a life with the woman he fell in love with until he can no longer keep a distance. Right when Mira thinks her life is back on track it spirals out of control.“
- Abstract Love by Samantha Christy <— I’m bringing this one back from last week’s list, too, ’cause Janet now recommends it! “This one was an uplifting take on a gut wrenching subject. Really sweet love story.” Oh yeah I remember this one! Two people from “different sides of the tracks” and then… “Fate has dealt them each an unfortunate blow. While they are fighting for life and facing mortality, they meet in the most unlikely place. Keri and Jace find they share a connection deeper than most people can fathom.“
- Hearts Attached by Scarlet Wolfe <— hrmmm… this one’s on sale and it looks pretty good. Three best friends (and neighbors) since childhood (two are twins)… and then, two of ’em fall in love and one of the twins does not like it. “This disapproval quickly tests Luke and McKenzie’s intense love for one another. Luke’s life has been mapped out for him since birth, with a sports scholarship hanging in the balance. He and McKenzie think their future together is finally on track, when they are struck with a much more serious dilemma…“
- The Arrangement (The Russian Guns Book 1) by Bethany-Kris <— MAFIA ALERT! Lauren recommends these: “…a Russian mafia love story. You will fall in love with Anton & Vine (Vivianna).”
- The Life (The Russian Guns Book 2) by Bethany-Kris <— and book #2 was JUST RELEASED!
- Perfected by You (Torn Trilogy Book 3) by JM Walker <— JUST RELEASED!!!
- Vanilla Twist: Heather & Tony (A Walk on the Wild Side Novel: Heather and Tony Book 2) by C.J. Ellisson <— Aimee found us this one!
- Vanilla on Top: A Walk on the Wild Side Novel (A Walk on the Wild Side Novel: Heather and Tony Book 1) by C.J. Ellisson <— and here’s book #1. LOTS of great reviews!! Oh wow this could be fun!! The last line of this blurb has me. “Top acquisitions officer and international playboy Tony Carmine is about to close the biggest deal of his career. But then he meets Heather at a speed dating event . . . and discovers losing control may be exactly what he needs. Her blossoming sensuality occupies his every thought, consuming him with the need to possess the most intriguing lover he’s ever encountered-until he walks into the boardroom and sees Heather on the other side of the negotiating table.“
- Grace Street (Chapter 8, #1) by Ella Dominguez <— DARK READ ALERT! Aimee found us this one asking about (mentioning the good reviews) and Stephanie said: “…her new novel/series, Grace Street (Chapter 8, #1), was in a league of its own. This twisted novel rocked my world! The hero and heroine were both strong yet very damaged. Their story was psychologically dark and gritty, and I couldn’t stop reading it!“
- Giving In: The Shore Series by M.R. Joseph <— Aimee found us this one and Lauren recommends it: “Great book….and the sequel just came out! I loved them both!” From the blurb, I’m getting the “player” meets the “jaded-in-love” girl: “…What she doesn’t have is the luxury of being someone’s first choice in the game of love. She always comes in a distant second place, leaving her guarded with her feelings. Lies, betrayal, and secrets of her past follow her wherever she goes, no matter how hard she tries to hide them. That is until she’s reunited with the one guy who can ignite the spark in her heart that’s been extinguished for so long.“
- Always In: The Shore Series Book 2 by M.R. Joseph <— And here’s book #2!
- Desired: Club Sin by Stacey Kennedy <— Aimee loved this one! “…amazing! I am really loving this series! This is the third book in the Club Sin series and the best so far, in my opinion. Each story can be read as a stand alone, but helps to have the background and history behind previous characters. I was hooked from the beginning and found it hard to put down.“
- Temptation (Club X Book 1) by K.M. Scott <— JUST RECENTLY RELEASED! Looks like it could be fun! “Olivia Lucas needs a job, and if that means working at a club that specializes in making members’ wildest fantasies come true, then that’s what she’ll do. A girl’s got to pay the rent, right? She never expected to fall for the gorgeous owner of Club X, though, but a man like him would never go for someone like her. Or would he?“
- Indiscretion: Volume One by Elisabeth Grace <— JUST RECENTLY RELEASED! (looks like a serial series). A bit from the blurb: “The fact that she worked for the competition should’ve been reason enough for me to leave her alone. I had a job to do that summer and f*cking Chloe wasn’t part of it. But I was like a man possessed. I’d do whatever it took to have her again.”
- The Unfortunates by Skyla Madi <— JUST RECENTLY RELEASED! Ooooh sounds like a dark read! Kidnap? Okay I really enjoyed another book by this author, and need to catch up with those, and suddenly, I’m quite excited about this one, too! I don’t know which part of the blurb to highlight. The whole thing sounds good! “He won’t hurt me and he won’t take from me, but he keeps me close… So close I can smell him on my skin even when I’m alone. Growing up it was ingrained in me that I do whatever I can to please my Fortunate. It was ingrained in me that I be loyal and faithful, and that I love my Fortunate more than I love myself. I expected that I’d want to please him. I expected that I would be loyal and faithful, just like I was taught… But I didn’t expect to fall in love with him.“
- Control Me (Barossa Series Book 1) by Elle Raven <— JUST RECENTLY RELEASED!
PRE-ORDERS (most of these are coming out this upcoming Monday/Tuesday)
- Captured by Jasinda Wilder <— This one has me extra excited to try it!! “I married a Marine. I knew the risks. Every time my husband shipped out, I knew there was a chance he wouldn’t come back. But Thomas always did. Always. Then one day two officers in full dress uniform knocked on my door and shattered my world.“

And for those that are new here, and want to know what the heck I mean by *squirrel* it’s from this —> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSUXXzN26zg <--- I TOTALLY do this. Hehe 😉
Nope! I am waiting for the FINAL EIT book. Starting Ashes to Ashes in prep tomorrow…………
Going to stick with This Man. Looking at 1 or 2 just because of reviews and the price, like the Room for More one. I wonder if this means RL will be releasing a new neighbor book? Ok time to get some things done so I can read and get farther than 5%.
Y’all read so fast! LOL I’m still only a third of the way through “Lay it Down” because I usually just read for awhile before sleep. I’ll never catch up to you over-achiever readers! 🙂
That said, I love seeing all the comments and opinions on my future reading conquests – helps me sort out which books to get.
Just gotta say I get a kick seeing books I’ve already read being recommended. 🙂 One of ’em is Lovely Vicious which I finished on Tuesday in one sitting. The writing is clever and Isis had me giddy- she had me cracking up with all her smart mouth retorts, when she thinks out loud and when she talks to inanimate objects LOL! Beware there is a part 2 and 3 (which I didn’t know about until I finished).
Destined series was really good — go in blind like I did and you won’t be disappointed! There’s some MC in the series too (for those who like that). Mmmmm… there’s so much on this list – my TBR list is getting longer and longer. 😀
OMG, that video! LOL!! Do you ever feel that way in Sephora as well? 😉
How is it that I can be relaxing and calmly sipping my coffee while playing around on my iPad, and as soon as I come here and read a post like this I start gulping the coffee and get all wound up and one-click waaaaay too many books and have all kinds of crazy, dirty thoughts just from book titles and want to go on a makeup and polish shopping spree and get a craving to have a martini at 11:00 in the morning (ooh…mimosas are okay at 11:00!!) and want some salami and Nutella and then I’m too hyper to sit down and get my work done so that I can get back to reading.
Oh! A squirrel!!!!
Hey there, how are y’all doing today? 😀
Just finished Ugly Love. Cried during epilogue. That was so much heartache. I definitely need a dose of alpha-growling-smut with absolutely no pain or angst! So going to save Maybe Someday for…. maybe another day?
You’ve made some progress on your TBR list! After that emotionally filled book, are you going to go for something light, like The Rosie Project? Or maybe Wild Side (have you noticed this is my new obsession?).
I am squirreling over Wicked Innocence (rocker) or Precarious (Prison guard/MC)…. hmmmm……. what’s everybody else choosing after Ugly Love?
Vixen and the Vet is $0.99 today! I know it was on one of your lists a few weeks ago, but it’s on sale now! Yay!
Amy, that was the longest run-on sentence ever! Do you feel better?
OMG! I totally had a salami sandwich today!!!! Actual it was more than just salami. Lots of italian meat. A Panini. Probably 1000 calories.
DEEEEELISHIOUS. I used to hate salami when I was little. Go figure. Although I’m still little.
Amy. Shut it. 😛
*snort*
P.S. I can hear you from here Amy and crew.
The Good girls looks good..very good reviews.
Oh no Maryse, you said “Italian meats”! You know you will suffer the wrath of Amy with that comment! Lol!
P.S. I love salami!
And now you will too, Jean. 😛
*whoooops* I forgot next weeks Tuesday release-day pre-orders. Lemme put ’em in…
Haha! You are so right! What was I thinking when I wrote that?!?!
So you had “lots of Italian meat” for lunch, eh? On a completely unrelated side note, my hubby’s nick name is Tommy Salami and I love my hubby….
Hand-basket full of Nutella and salami and martinis? check….. Amy – I’m all ready for my journey….
What’s next after Ugly Love girls? The samples for above mentioned two didn’t grab me….
Oh that sounds like the PERFECT Friday treat, Michelle. Just add a few baguettes to the basket, so we can tear chunks right off, make sandwiches and gorge.
YUM!!!!
Which samples Michelle? I’m dying to try that “Good Girl” one…
Claudia, I know, right?? Reviews for it seem awesome – but I skimmed super lightly. I wanna be surprised.
The Good Girl does look good, except that price!!
So you had a little “afternoon delight,” did ya, Maryse? *snort* Sure, you go right ahead and keep calling it a panini. 😛 Oh! And be careful…snack sizers can only handle so much salami at one time!! LOL!!!
Ya like that glimpse into my head with the run-on sentence, Jean? Sometimes I get so wound up that it’s like there are a bunch of bees on crack in my brain!! Like today! 😀
LOL!!!!!!!
OMG!! Tommy Salami???? LOL!!!!! Who has a hand basket full of salami and is a happy girl? *points to Michelle* That girl!!!
Hehe, Jean loves “paninis” too. 😛
Okay, so we’re gorging on chunks of hunks…er, bread tonight, ladies? Yeah!!! Oh, and hunks of that Nutella salami that Michelle found. And I’ll bring this:
https://www.drinksmixer.com/drink11118.html
TGIF!!!!
P.S. – The bees in my brain have smoked some serious crack…there is nothing but buzzing going on in there, so I have noooooo idea what I’m reading after Opposition! I know y’all were just dying to know that. 😉
Samples were Wicked Innocence and Precarious. Neither grabbed me. The Good Girl is too pricey for me to take a chance on. I’ll wait for one of your reviews. So why are you not sampling Wild Side Maryse? Or did you already? That would be the perfect dessert to the very heavy main dish that was Ugly Love.
I’m going to some local pub tonight (TGIF!!!) and am seriously considering bringing that dang Queen of the Fairies drink recipe with me… think they’ll make it for me? Wonder how much they would charge me?
… and what did you decide to read next?….. ….. (still no answers coming)….
Since you gave in and read Ugly Love (yeah!!!), Michelle, I think I’m going to start Wild Side after Opposition. I’m going to try as hard as a salami 😛 to stick to that and not squirrel to the Lovely Vicious series. Or This Man. Or Wicked Innocence. Or Precarious.
*snicker* I “Dair” you to take that recipe to the pub and have them make it!
Bring it to them. Those guys love to make the weird fun stuff!!
Okay right… Wild Side. I totally need to do that one!!
*snort* You said “do that one.” 😛
LOL!!!!!!!!
I did. And I do. 😛
I just printed it out and am going to take it with me! You have fun with Dair…
Lovely Viscous? What was that? Now I have to go and look that one up too. This Man didn’t do it for me. My friend nearly orgasmed at Wal Mart pharmacy line while reading it – it’s pretty wicked – I guess I just wasn’t in the mood for another billionaire bad boy with a secret…. and an interior designer…. so cliche’….
Will check in later to see if Dair is doing it for you….
LOL!! Yeah Maryse!!!
Michelle, it’s the Lovely Vicious series above. Any time I hear “go in blind” I get all antsy to read it! *leg bouncing*
Me too!!! That means we are IN for it!!!
My Skyler by Penelope Ward is on sale for $.99 for a limited time.
Well I just finished the Wild Side series, thanks to Michelle. You really gotta read all three. But their short so I finished them in about a day or two. The ending is super and even though I had it figured out I still aaahhhh and oooohed at the end.
*they’re* not their
I’d never make it as an editor since I always catch mistakes too late.
I’m hitting my tbr list after Ugly Love
Yes, we are in for it!! Yay us!! I’m really, really trying to stick with the Wild Side next, but Lovely Vicious is really tempting me. I think I’ll have to hide out from Michelle if I do end up with LV. 😉 I’ll just see what kind of mood I’m in when I finish Opposition.
Oh! Speaking of Opposition…the sexy times with Daemon don’t exactly fade to black in this one!!!! *waggling eyebrows* Not as detailed as her NA books but enough to be a fix for my Daemon craving. 😀
I requested Good Girl from the library…I’m like #200 on the list! Guess it’s popular! I’ll let you know…;)
I hated to see the Lux series end. I still can’t cant believe that’s the last we’ll see of those guys.
Thank you, Andee!! I’ve been wanting to read The Vixen & the Vet but I’ve been waiting for it to go on sale!!! Yea!!
Sounds like an exciting friday night with salami, fairie drinks and “doing that one.”
Totally squirreling over Lovely Vicious, but must finish This Man first. Damn house stuff getting in the way of my reading. Kids switched rooms so having to move stuff and paint. UGH!
Amy- I got the Perversion mascara. I LOVE it and it is perfect- no need to “dry out.” Yeh!!! 🙂
Around 35% into This Man. Some editing issues and do not like her friend. But so far I’m enjoying it. May move on to the next one when done as it has been sitting on my kindle for awhile now.
Precarious by Bella Jewel is also on sale for $ 0.99.
I am 3/4 of the way thru “Offiside” by Shay Savage and loving it.
Somehow she has taken a “Travis” character and made him an expert at soccer and quoting Shakespeare. So far all in his POV.
Must read Missing You by Harlan Coben, not our usual Maryse genre, but it did have some romance and was one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time.
Vain part two is out! Oh ladies, if you haven’t yet read it…I mentioned it before but didn’t want to yell and scream into part two came out. *yelling and screaming*
Into=until
Has anyone signed up for the Kindle Unlimited deal yet? My recommendations are full of books that are free with Kindle Unlimited…. and I am wondering if this is just good marketing strategy? And then after I sign up, there will be few that I am interested in? I need at least 5 books a month to come out of that service if it’s 9.99 a month, or else it’s not worth it… why bother, you know? Trying to decide if I want to keep my purchases as 100% my decision….. or have to filter through the ones that qualify. Such a dilemma!
I have it. You can have up to 10 books at a time. I’ve have 10 of them pretty much from the get go. They do have a nice selection. However, I find myself purchasing additional books based on suggestions from this blog. The first month is free so you can try it at no risk. I’m still debating whether I’m going to keep it or not past the first month.
Hey Everyone! I have a friend who just put her book on Amazon. I haven’t had a chance to read it, so can’t say if its good or not. Its called The Finding (Faesyorin Triology) by Meghan Walker its 2.99 or Free on kindle unlimited. If you need something new to read try it out. I do believe its paranormal. I’m starting to read it now. Thanks P.S. This is her first book and really needs help getting people to review it.
I stayed up way too late and read Ugly Love in one sitting last night. So good! I’m thinking of braving The Story of Me (Carnage #2) next.
Oh Darn… I forgot about Carnage #2…. that first book wrecked me!
I found a book I am so so interested in… anyone read it? It’s called ‘Arouse” the first in the Spiral of Bliss trilogy? It’s not new, just new to me.
They got me with the blurb on amazon….
(and BTW, they did make me that drink at the pub last night… they made it really strong…. so I am now the Queen of The Fairies, yay me… considering I am in permanent lust with Adam Black, V’lane, Ryder and Rain I think it’s totally appropriate)….
Maryse reviewed Arouse I believe. It is a wonderful read. I love Professor West. Well except for one scene. Ugh that scene still not happy about. But he is one that in real life you would like not like some of the H that in reality you should run the other way.
The other two are downloaded and need to get to them. Another reason I’m going to try , at least 80%, of the time to stick to tbr for the next little while. I’m sure have all these little gems unread waiting.
Yep loved Arouse!!!
Very good stuff! Plus there are two more books after that completing it, I believe, and then she spins-off with other family members. 😀
Oh Andee!!!
Thank you for the book updates on the ones above. That helps me choose. 😀
*hug*
I one-clicked the Destined series. It always gets me when someone recs “go in blind.” And the complete series is $0.99!
Now, just have to finish This Man. Able to start/stop it and I’m finding that I’m skimming the “sex” scenes. Hoping it gets better…
maryse, i LOVE NINA LANE …..And i miss Dean and Liv soooo much! But Archer made me crazy as well hehehehehe, you,re going to love break the sky.
My question , as always is …. What are u reading now ??
*snicker* Arouse. 😛
I wish I would have bought Vixen and the Vet in June or July when half of the profits went to Operation Mend. Still, it looks like it will be good! Wasn’t there a similar book where the H had a partially-disfigured face? Not sure if he was a vet or not…
Cheryl, isn’t Perversion mascara incredible??? And when used with Subversion Lash Primer…just wow. 😀
70% in. Parts that are totally frustrating me yet I like it *shrug* Half the time I want to yell at them just TALK to each other. The other half I want to yell RUN AVA RUN, lol.
And now I feel like some ice cream.
Eduarda…
I’m reading one of the ARC’s I received but it’s just not working for me for some reason… *sigh*
So I’m reading Bonnie Dee’s latest “Beloved Healer” and that’s sweet but kind of slow-ish at this moment. I’m sure it’ll pick up… but I’m in the mood for BIG *oomph*
And someone said that Shay Savage’s latest “Offside” had a real good Travis bad-boy feel, and well… I love that author anyway, so I’m thinking I’ll give that one a go.
🙂
What about you?
Lol, I’m 50% into offsides too. I’m enjoying it. And 33% into Six of Hearts. No reflections on the books that I can put them down just my concentration has been off. Have so many half read, but not DNF books, from last couple months. I think mood has alot to do with it. I’ll go back later and totally love it.I like Offside more than This Man and will probably finish it tomorrow. Then this man sequel and then Six of Hearts. Lol, I guess go back and forth between my old list and my new list.
From your TBR Breathe was great. That one I read straight through. Written in Red I stayed up all night to read. Just mentioned this one but just remembering years later how much I loved it A Place to call Home by Deborah Smith.
Great list, as always, and here’s another new release, from Sotia Lazu.
The Tenant.
It’s hot, it’s snarky and funny, and it totally rocks the enemies-to-lovers plotline. I gave it 5-stars 🙂
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/911052490
Stupid noob question – what is an ARC?
MichelleS – I signed up for the Kindle Unlimited because I was reading the Kathleen Turner series and found the last three for free. However I’m not sure I will continue after the first month. I also am still buying other books because so many of the the recs here are not on unlimited. Trying to keep up with you all is making my head spin! Almost done with Wallbanger which I am absolutely loving.
Bev- speaking of Deborah Smith, I just saw a novella by her on the kindle unlimited. I forget the name though. It was only 77 pages.
Nic, it’s an “advance readers copy”. I most often just buy my books and review as I read ’em along with you guys, but sometime one comes my way as an “ARC” that catches my attention, so I give it a go. 🙂
Wallbanger is another half finished one. And I was liking it. I’m saving the unlimited trial until I can really focus on it. I tried oyster & liked it but it was a super busy time and was only able to read 3 books from it.
I was trying to remember what Smith books I’ve read. Been so long I only remember the one and the apple orchard one.
Squirreled again and downloaded KA’s teaser chapters for Deacon. So going to read those real quick.
Amy a sample of the subversion eyelash primer came with the perversion mascara. Haven’t used it yet though. Love the mascara by itself, so I can’t wait to try the primer with it!!! Don’t think perversion is the right word for what I feel….*squeee*
Maryse, ah ha! Thanks for the explanation. Great site you’ve built here. 🙂
Big OOMPH, Maryse? I am telling you – Wilde Side is big oomph and then some. It has that guy, that girl, that dialogue, that inner monologue, AND it ends up having that story that I connect with in a book. Believe me, it was a huge surprise for me… was not expecting that at all. I am surprised it’s not at least on you TBR list since you liked the author’s Tristan and Danika books so much!
I am loving “Arouse”, BTW – don’t know how I missed it – well, yes I do – too many books, not enough time!
Okay, more “oomph” – when I fell like this, I read a KA book. Have you read them all yet Maryse? I seem to remember that you have read many, but not all. Right? You may have missed a few? In her Ghosts and Castles series, I absolutely loved Fairytale Come Alive. One of those that I just connected with. Will never forget it. And I loved her true stand alone Play it Safe (avoided that one forever and it turned out to be one of her best). Also, “oomph” worthy was The Saint (Original Sinners 5 that came out this summer – because I love Soren and this was the story of how they met).
Bev – Six of Hearts and This Man were DNF for me too!
oh haven’t DNF them. Actually 88% in This Man. No I just keep following the new book or new to me. I was 11% into All of You then Six of Hearts kept popping up so ok I’ll follow. 39% into that when thought oh game of soccer sounds fun so off to the Offside. Then someone got all capitol YOU HAVEN’T READ THIS MAN so put down the soccer ball and decided to take a walk to the Manor.
This is why I need to her strict with myself or I’ll never finish .mu back list. So kindle tbr will be This Man, Offside, Beneath this Man, Six of Hearts and sticking to it though others are tempting me with their rocknroll music. oh and my library book Shadow of light. Honestly after KA tease really want to be in the Colorado mountains.
Well, my TBR list still has These Old Shades (library is emailing me to return, so I better get on it)…. Now, How to Kill a Rockstar… Reed Brothers #2…Carnage #2….Strings…finish Spiral of Bliss trilogy…. keep reading Lux?….Late Call/Final Call…Frenched…. this is why I am squirreling, because it is too overwhelming to choose… and then nothing is that good to keep me interested…. so just follow along and do what you guys do or say….
and… you can’t go wrong with KA, Bev…. so that would be my choice, except I’ve read everything!
Bev and Michelle, you guys are cracking me up. You *epitomize* squirreling, lol!!
Finished This Man. The KA doesn’t come out until late September. She has teaser chapters on her website that you can download and read. It’s called Deacon. Oh I like the set up so far but don’t know why I torture myself with these little snippets.
How did you like Professor Dean West? Love him and book except that one little scene towards the end. I have Frenched and the Lux series sitting in my tbr too. Have read first and half of the second.
I have to admit that having the hard choice to make from a list of TBR books that I KNOW are great ’cause y’all said so is freaking fantastic.
Whew! Ok. Just had to get that off my chest.
Amy lol. I used to not be this bad. I think it is the over abundance of choices. I’ve been that way in grocery stores. But yes a fun problem to have.
Bev – loving Professor Dean West…gah!…. exactly my type….. now I have to try to move right into books 2 and 3… or SQUIRREL….. ?? Because Logan from Reed Bros was yummy too…. and then Maryse chimes in with a squee about a 5-star rock-n-roll read??? OY VEH!
I used to not be this bad either – I am convinced it’s because I am in search of the next great thing, you know? And they are mostly “meh”… once upon a time when I used to get a dozen books from the library I was happy for two weeks and liked almost everything. What happened?
Michelle!! How to Kill a Rockstar. Trust me.
So I picked the rock star – and enjoying his little tape recorder rants… over..
I’m going to read rock star next. I’m reading Offside first cause I’m a soccer fan and it was calling my name. I was surprised that this is not a YA novel. For some reason I thought it was. It’s not at all. It has a couple of young characters but the theme and material is very adult.
Oh and did I forget to mention how good it is? Loving it. Shay Savage is awesome.
60% in Offside. No definitely wouldn’t think of it as YA. I’m a little tense as I feel like something it’s leading to something big. Not sure how much more I’ll get done tonight. How do you like the nickname? I’ll probably take the rockstar deal but might be too many feels for me right now.
I’m not that far yet. But it is just blowing my mind. Stomach all tied up in knots.
Love the nickname. 🙂
Well, love that he gave her one. Her name is pretty.
OOH, Fabi, you’re a soccer fan too? Tell me you were cheering for Germany during the World Cup and I may have to marry you! Yes, I was one of THOSE people… hey, it only happens once every four years. Did you notice how uber hot all the players have become? Or I am just becoming a middle aged weirdo-stalker-cougar. I guess that’s my next read then…. still no progress on the TBR list with all this new material!
I tried with Lovely Vicious. I really did. I made it to 40%. When I am focusing more on wanting to rewrite sentences, correct contradictions in the story and being annoyed by the absurdity of the characters and their actions, then it’s time to stop. Maybe it’s the writing style I’m just not syncing with. Whatever it is, I’m done.
Alright, I’m thinking Offside, Wild Side, This Man or How to Kill a Rockstar. I didn’t realize I one-clicked Rockstar a while ago until I tried to buy it on sale today. 😉
Ooh, wait! Shark Week!! 😀
I went to 30% on 3 different books today and put ’em all down. *sigh*
Now I picked one from my old TBR list and it’s holding my attention…
Well, you know what I’m going to say…. WILD SIDE baby…. This Man was a DNF for me…. haven’t read the others….. come on!!! Wild Side is super short and then we can tease Maryse with Dair jokes….. please?
I am really liking the rock-star one, but I did just watch a chihuahua do yoga with it’s owner on youtube/FB…. so I am squerreling a wee llittle bit… which I did not do with Dair…. no way…. could not even blink for 4 hours straight….
Oh-hoh! You’re bringing out the big guns with the word tease. Okay, Wild Side it is. I squirreled from that one for Lovely Vicious and look where it got me. But then again, *you’re* reading Rockstar and I wanna read it as well and I’m feeling all jealous ’cause you’re reading it right now! Hey, I’m only mature when I *have* to be. 😉
Well, no, right now I am talking to you… so I am not reading it! I like it…. but I’m getting kind of scared that there may be something to all his joking about something-that-cannot-be-named and I just read Ugly Love and my little old unicorn heart can’t take another heartache…. so I am the one who is jealous of you potentially getting to be inside Dair’s crazy world…. that’s the kind of story I need right now.
Keep reading, Michelle. There’s a reason we all love that book so much. Just sayin’ 😉
I’m going to keep reading…… what is holding your attention? Can’t wait to find out!!!!
“~~~Here comes the bride. Here comes…~~~”
Proposal accepted. I didn’t think anyone was going to beat Germany this year. In fact, I predicted them in the finals before the games even started. I’ve been a huge fan all my life. Even when I was a little girl. This was the first time I was able to watch every single World Cup game without work or school interfering. It was incredible.
And to keep this on book topic…Offside has a young H and h but the things they’re dealing with are major. I haven’t been able to put it down since I started it today. Looks like I’ll be up all night cause I’m hooked on this story. Shay Savage, damn but she can build some characters.
Michelle, if you want spicy, go for Vain.
What a small world it is Fabi…. first I find out we could shop at the same mall… then I find out you are a German soccer fan? And you like the same kinds of books… what are the chances? So funny…..
Well… that’s my next read then… Offsides…. because Shay does have a writing style that I love! And I can picture all my favorite soccer players from the World Cup as the H….. bonus points…
Finished Offside and loved it. And yes, I loved her nickname too!
I almost think there is no one as hot as Dair right now. Such a good series. I have How to kill a rock star that i clicked a long time ago and never got around to. But think I am going to read Monsters inside next from the tears of tess trilogy. Soooooo good. Also finished the Arrangement about a Russian Mob boss. I have a thing for mafia books lately especially the Russian kind.
Well Michelle, I’m a soccer fan. There are several teams I root for. Germany just had the best team going into this World Cup. I’m not totally familiar with U.S. soccer, but I follow European football as much as I can from here. Our Offside hero is an up and coming Tim Howard (who I adore). Tim is even mentioned in the book. If I didn’t already love Shay, I would fall in love with her now.
I forgot to mention your cougar comment. *ahem* who’s a total cougar for shirtless football players? *me raising hand* oh what the hell *me raising both hands*
I still can’t believe we’re neighbors. That is so freakin cool.
Three DNFs?? Daaaaaaang.
Lol, I don’t feel as bad now about not finishing the one book because it looks like DNF is going around right now. Except for Fabi. And Julie. Now, Bev…she’s still working on Offside so it remains to be seen. 😉 I think we got spoiled with all of the awesomeness last Tuesday. Okay, Michelle, Wild Side it is right after I finish watching The Leftovers.
Off topic, but I am the temporary foster mom of an injured pigeon my neighbor just found. Poor thing. 🙁 I hope I can find a place tomorrow that takes injured birds!
And nah, we’re not cougars, just like we don’t have boyfriends…we are *book* cougars and have *book* boyfriends! 😛
Yah…. 3. But not confirmed DNF’s yet. I will likely pick 2 of them up and give it another go. The one I’m reading now is Liberating Lacey. She’s 8 years older and he’s a cop. In uniform. Heh. So you know… 😉
It’s good. Not rocking my world yet but I’m enjoying.
I do want to make a comment about soccer. I love sports, I watch
football, basketball and soccer, mma and wish the olympics were on every year, winter and summer! Just have to say that soccer has the best looking guys in all sports, hands down. And just think of the stamina girls! Love in English is a great book featuring a soccer star and it was one of my top 5 this year.
OMG, that cover for Liberating Lacey…cop with his hat on and shirt open? Uh, yum. 😛 Oh, and of course it sounds good, too. Yep, one-clicked that one!
I saw a decent amount of 4 and 5 stars for Lovely Vicious on Amazon. Maybe it’s just me? Again? Probably. 😉
You picked smut and an age difference and didn’t go for Wild Side? I’m shocked Maryse…. it’s an Ellora’s Cave book…. so I know you are in a big time smut mood…. you should have picked Dair to scratch that itch…. ha!
Amy – I seem to be the only person who couldn’t finish Rogue… blech… thought it was awful, and it got a bunch of 4 and 5 star reviews… so don’t feel bad. That’s why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors – because we don’t all like the same flavors all the time.
Yup, Love in England sure does have a soccer star…more along the lines of David Beckam. 🙂
I guess I’m a bit of a sports fiend too. My games are basketball, football and soccer. But between my reading addiction and my guitar love its hard to fit them in sometimes.
Yup, I’m still up reading Offside. Not putting it down – cause I know – something is gonna happen…
So agree on the different favors sometimes Michelle. While I didn’t have a problem with Rogue, I didn’t go head over heals with Ugly Love. I liked it but only a 3 or 3.5 stars for me.
What’s a DNF?
Did not finish? I bet that’s it. Oh I hate those.
Hush Amy. I was referring to books.
Still on Offside but have a feeling it’s building up to something bad. After this wondering if may switch up reading order to get something sweet in. This Man well he is slightly crazy so may need a breather before jumping back in.
DNF is a did not finish. I have a lot of DNF for right now. If I don’t delete I know I’ll revisit it.
Just finished How to Kill a Rock Star…. un-put-down-able….. I had goosebumps and more than once I think all the blood in my extremities rushed to my head and heart at once because I got instantly cold from the “oh no”s that kept happening. Okay Okay, I admit it… it was worth squerreling over….
Now… Maybe Someday? Carnage #2? Offsides? Keep trekking with Professor West? Or a sweet sweet Reed brother? Or maybe go grocery shopping since I didn’t do that yet….
How to Kill a Rock Star will be next for me. Of those you mentioned I’m only familiar with Maybe Someday and Offside. I love them both so I don’t even know which one I’d pick next.
Fabi I will be starting How to Kill a Rock Star tomorrow! I’ve been wanting to read it for a long time!!!!! I finished Fae Chronicles series over the weekend and you guys really have me wanting to read Offside, and Wild Side series, and Ugly Love…. the list just goes on and on and on!!!
I know Jean! I finally had to force myself to start going through my awesome TBR list instead of one clicking everything new. I’m adding them to my wish list but really forcing myself to read from my TBR (for the most part).
I know! It’s just so hard not to 1-click! It is all Maryse’s fault! Lol! Oh and that cover of Vain…..hot!!! Need to read that one too!
Yah Jean!! It’s all my fault. My one-click finger agrees… 😛
Vain is one of those gotta read it to believe it.
So now I have to add Vain to my list? I just looked it up. It’s one of the series of novellas… first one is 77 pages, second one is 105 pages… that drives me bonkers! Just write a 300-400 page novel and then release it. I did it with Wild Side once all three were released and I knew it was done. That’s why I never did the Arrangement series… there’s no end…. Is it really worth it for 180 pages of material?
The serials drive me nuts too. The end cost is usually what I’ll spend on a confirmed favorite.
I’m still enjoying Offside. Maybe Someday was an impulse buy as usually one I would not be interested in and could not put it down.
Does anyone else with the ending wasn’t the ending but more oh between 50 or 70%?
DNF just might be contagious. Having a hard time with This Man. All they do is argue and have sex. Really not much of a story otherwise. Going to stick with it a little bit more because there are a couple things that I want answers to first. Then maybe Offside or Wild Side. Was going to read Lovely, Vicious but re-thinking that after reading Amy’s comment.
So I finished Liberating Lacey. So many DNF’s that I’m happy I was able to stick with this one. 😀 It was good. I’d say between 3.5 to 4 stars… more 4 stars, but I had *some* issues which I’ll work out in the review tonight..
I’m thinking when done with Offside I’m going to shift my kindle tbr a little and read Room for You. Don’t know much about it but that it is a hockey player and a single mom. But it is calling my name. Maybe because it is so hot and hockey makes me think of ice.
Started reading Offsides tonight. I’m only 13% in, but like it so far. Told from his POV…. he’s such a jerk… then you find out some “things” and it helps explain his jerkiness…. and yes, that nickname is too cute for words.
After this, I, too am going to tackle what’s actually ON my Kindle already and quit one-clicking all the new recommendations. Except for Maybe Someday and the new Dex and Perry book (EIT)…. then I’ll get back to it.
Michelle, do not DNF this one. As good as it is from the start, it just gets better and better and better…
I think this one may reach Travis status for me.
Oh and don’t miss out on Maybe Someday. Gahhh, I want to read that one again.
Whooaaaa finished Offside last night. It’s over 350 pages I love a long novel. Gives me time to really get to know the characters. This one BLEW ME AWAY. I couldn’t stop reading yet I never wanted it to end. I swore I wouldn’t cry if it got sad, but it wrung those tears out along with the laughs and the cringes and the awwww moments. Totally captivating. Shay has outdone herself. Easy 5 stars. Up there with Beautiful Disaster. I don’t even want to start another book because I am loving having these characters on my mind and in my heart.
Hrmmm… this is good to know! 😀 I put it down temporarily, at about 30% and now you make me want to pick it right back up!
*SQUEEEEEEE!!!* YAY MICHELLE!!!
Yes. I am screaming that! I am so excited you loved it. I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--- I could just keep on going with those. That book is up there for me, with Beautiful Disaster. We hit some HUGE GEMS back that year, and I'm so glad now so many are re-discovering them this year.
Ok, I’m about to bite the bullet and start a next one. It has to be How to Kill a Rock Star because of all the incredible reviews here. I couldn’t handle a mediocre one after Offside.
Amy did you get a home for your pigeon? I bet Travis wants it. 😉 Okay I’m a dork.
There may be MORE huge gems I don’t know about? I better go back and dig through the old 5 star reviews then….
At one point I nearly fainted and got really mad at you for recommending it. I think my stomach actually flipped over on itself.
Now back to Offside. need to finish that one! It’s kind of weird that it is taking place in HS – because he is such an @$$ already at 18. I am picturing it as Bastian in high school and then it’s totally believable! (that’s just my imagination not some weird plot twist, BTW).
Michelle, Offside is definitely not in the YA genre. If you think about it though, you realize why Shay had to make the characters high school age. It wouldn’t work with anyone older. If I had Travis and Thomas side by side and the option to pick one for myself right now, I’d pick Thomas. He is the epitome of real male strength.
I am starting How To Kill a Rock Star tonight (and scared but trusting all of you)! Then you guys definitely have me wanting to read Offsides…… especially since I love all Shay’s books!
Maryse, love the pigeon comment to Amy!!
MichelleS, saw you were going to research 5 star books here….. have you read Tarryn Fisher’s Love Me With Lies series? Soooooo great!!! (Sorry to hear you didn’t like This Man series…..) But I have not forgotten your constant recommendation for The Wild One series…… That’s next after Rock Star! (I think……)
You’re only saying that because he’s a Futballer, Fabi!!! Admit it… you’re getting all cougar-ish picturing him in his too tight jersey with his too-big thighs…. LOL….
You’re right. On part of the story only works if he is still younger and in school. It’s just that my son is 18 so it’s way weird in that way. ICK. It’s not that I haven’t read about high-schoolers (not my fave, but I’ll do it)… but he’s especially BAD, you know? I guess dirty-bad is just innate. No age limit.
Jean – yes, I read the Love me With Lies series. Loved that one. A good 4.5 stars for me – because no re-reading that one! But I would recommend it for sure. I think This Man was just too close to 50 shades for me and I am over that genre (for now) and it wasn’t going anywhere. It must have been my mood because my friend loved it!
Haha I don’t think I could reread that one either!!! I hear ya on the 50 shades genre…. I have been over that for a while too! I definitely think our moods effect some of our reactions to our books! But I did love This Man series…
So, How to Kill a Rock Star…..is it going to kill me?!?!?!? I am so anxious about reading it because I’ve wanted to for over a year now! I know I will have you girls for support though!
Michelle, that might have been true at the beginning of the story. But it gets better and better and better. So that by the end of the story I was both in love with Thomas as a man and proud enough of the character that I would be proud for MY 18 yr old son to be that strong a man.
I’ve started Rockstar. Wish me luck that it doesn’t crush me. If it’s too overwhelming I’ll have to go back to sci go and PNR weeks afterwards. 🙂
Sci fi autocorrect
Oh and ummm, it’s the soccer players abs that do it for me, not their legs. Lol it’s too bad their not allowed to take their shirts off anymore. But they still manage to lift them up enough to show off those abs walking off the field and at the end of the games they come off. 🙂
They’re not their…ugh I give up on typing on this phone
Abs, legs… it all does it for me… and Boo on that keep your shirt on rule!
Rockstar won’t crush you. It will make you want to read more like it and there’s just not anything like it… but I’ll be happy to read PNR or urban fantasy with you. I still love that genre!
Did you see that Ronaldo is considered the Fittest Man Alive? Wow – Looking at the cover of that magazine is making me start early menopause. HOT FLASH alert.
I think we have completely digressed from the BOOK discussions… Amy? Amy? where are you?
There isn’t any other sport which demands the overall level of fitness that soccer requires. That’s why they ALL have washboard abs.
Books…I get really excited about books with athletes, musicians or authors since those are my greatest interests.
I’m about to break Travis’ heart. 🙁 The poor little pigeon died yesterday morning. While I watched and before I could get it to the wildlife rescue place.
Any suggestions for a sweet, lighthearted book for me? Like, sickening sweet? Hehe, bet you never thought I would be asking for one like that. 😉
RIP little Pidge. Yeah, I’m a dork. So what. Hush up. Luffs you guys anyways.
I bet he got bit by a cat. I heard that even if you save a bird (that looks otherwise healthy) from a cat’s clutches (or otherwise), there is a certain thing in cat saliva (even if they didn’t bite hard enough to kill) that will kill the bird within 24 hours… *if* that was what ’caused it to be harmed that is…
Awww Amy! Boohoo!
I did not know that about cat saliva…it very well could have been bitten as I didn’t examine it any closer than to note a hurt foot and wing. Poor little guy.
Ooooh, it’s Tuesday! That means a new release list! 😀 See you ladies over there. 😉
Sickening sweet, lighthearted? Where is Amy and what have you done with her?
So I looked through my Kindle and found that I am not so much a sweet lighthearted kind of gal, apparently! So I’ve got zilch… the closest things I have are: Rosie Project, Seduction in Snacks, A Knight in Shining Armour.
That’s really sad, right? That I have nothing sweet and lighthearted?
Amy, Elle Casey comes to mind. I loved her MacKenzie books. Made me laugh throughout. I think I have them as lendable on Nook if you’re interested.
Lol, can you believe that’s what I’m looking for?? And if it’s sad that you have nothing sweet and lighthearted, then I’m just as bad because I can’t remember ever one-clicking anything described as that. Or if I have I can’t remember. 😉
Thank you, Fabi! 🙂
Same here. I really don’t have anything sweet and lighthearted. But I do agree with Fabi, Shine Not Burn was funny and sweet! Also recently read Puddle Jumping and Still Life With Strings which were both lighthearted!
Amy – then you may really enjoy The Rosie Project. He’s a aspie-like professor who decides it’s high time he find a wife… no problem… just create a questionnaire and weed out any candidates that aren’t the perfect fit, right? Not so much he finds out. Then his friend “helps” out by forcing “Rosie” on him… who is the opposite of everything in his list… let the hilarity ensue… and it does. Laugh out loud funny.
Thanks, ladies! What would I do without all of you??? *hugs*
