Absinthe .I had to get for the cover alone.. HOT!! Love men in white 🙂
Happy birthday Maryse! *tons of rainbow glitter in the air and pink confetti* *huggles* Have a fun one with awesome cake and martinis. 😀
ES Bell’s book, The Dark of the Moon, was released today. 😀 A romantic fantasy! *squees*
Happy Birthday Maryse!!
I’m 50% through The Dark of the Moon and I’m currently hiding in my bubble bath reading. I’ve been here for well over an hour and I think soon I’m going to grow a merkind tail! It’s straight fantasy with romantic elements but it’s definitely not a romance. I can’t wait to hear what you think Tessa!
I’ll get into it soon. That went to the top of my list as soon as I grabbed it. 😀 I just need to space it from Sunday’s watching of GoT. I want it to have a chance. (I watched episode 4 as well as 5. 4 was too awesome to have anything try to compete.)
Tessa!!! How amazing crazy BLOW-YOUR-FREAKING-MIND AWESOME was episode 4 of GoT?!? Holy moly!! I LOVE Drogon and Daenerys and her other two dragons. I swear, if she doesn’t end up the ruler of the seven kingdoms or one of the dragons dies then we riot. RIOT, I tell ya!
Now, if she hooks up with Jon Snow and they rule together then that would be the bestest ever. 😉
Don’t #%&$ with the Mother of Dragons.
Except she does tend to make some big mistakes. At least where I left off on in the books and show. She likes to default to might makes right in my opinion. Yes, abolish slavery but maybe do some thinking first so that your army and dragons is not the only thing keeping the region semi stable. So mimics the US in the Middle East. How are you going to leave. I was reading a review that worries she mimics Cersei in some ways.
Why am I stuck down there, lol. Maryse is moderating me.
This:

Stop, I cant even look… I am behind still LOL! Yes, Maryse, what are you reading today?
I am reading one of my August challenge books today. Sparrow by L.J. Shen.
Happy Happy Birtthday Maryse!
*throws (environmentally friendly) confetti in the air*.
Thank you for taking care of the bookaholics of the world.
I want to thank ALL of you for your sweet birthday wishes, my friends!!! I had an AMAZING birthday, and my sister and my aunt came down to stay with me for the week. I AM SO LUCKY!!!!
I glowed of happiness all day. <3 And there was cake! 🙂
Um… I honestly hope that Daneirys and Jon don’t get together, because eeew…
Well, in her family…..
Just she needs to learn more dishes than barbeque.
*sings ‘Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..happy birthday to the very, best book blogger!!!! Happy birthday to you – Maryse!!!’ *. Hope you have the best book birthday ever!
Hey, at least Daenerys and Jon aren’t brother and sister like Jaime and Cersei. 😕
And all those guys had to do was take a knee but nooooooo, they just had to be defiant. They were just askin’ for an invitation to the dragon barbecue. *snort*
Lol Right? I never liked them anyway.
Especially after how they treated sweet Sam. 🙁 Shoulda taken a knee… *shakes head*
Ooh! I heard a speculation that the little reveal Cersei gave Jaime may end tragically and it will push her over the edge as the Mad Queen. Sounds possible.
And yes, Dany can sometimes make mistakes and flex her dragons…er, muscles a bit too much but hell, she’s a female trying to take control and she HAS to show her strength from time to time. JMHO. 😉
I WANT A DRAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED GOT SO HARD I’M READING THE BOOKS NOW, ERM LISTENING…. AS MY FRIEND JEN POINTED OUT…I TOO WOULD LIKE TO SEE JON SNOW RIDING/FLYING A DRAGON….SWOOOON AND NO I DON’T MIND THEM GETTING TOGETHER EVEN THOUGH……LA LA LA LA LALALLLLLLAAAA HE’S THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
OMG did y’all see the part on Sunday with Jon Snow and the dragon?? When his eyes looked misty??? *swoooooon*
I say they get together and have a bunch of snow dragon babies!
I THINK THE DRAGON RECOGNIZED HIS BLOOD….HINT HINT
YAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSS AMY….LOTS OF LITTLE DRAGON BABIES WITH DARK BROWN HAIR AND BLUE EYES….
*gasp* YES!! How beautiful would they be? If we can’t have Drago and their baby boy back 😥 then a Jon-Dany pairing would be the next best thing.
Hey! Remember how they didn’t roast Tyrion (sp?) either that one time? Maybe he is related somehow as well? Hmmmm…
Ela! The books, really?? Yay! I freaking loved the books.
I loved Jamie’s arc as I read the books, but looks like not sticking.
*sigh*
That’s the thing with Martin, no one is safe. So who knows who will be left standing.
I am totally behind but, IDK, I am side eyeing the Mother right now. (I am not spoiler free) Her lineage was not the most stable.
I am not fangirling her but not against her either. Well, I do cheer her sometimes, she can pull out the badass.
But most of my loyalty is for the Stark Children, that means Jon too . And Tyrion and Brienne.
I am not sure Drogo would of been happy in Westeros.
No, he probably wouldn’t have been but he would be with the moon of his world. 🙁
Lol.
Omg, Amy. I am Sorry. Oh, that made me laugh. Like tears just imagining what voice you said that in.
*snicker* 😛
Good news today. The jury found in favor of Taylor Swift.
Whoot!
I’m so happy for Taylor Swift too! That picture was SO obvious. UGH I was fuming!!!!!
OMG I’ll be honest. I actually like Jaime. A truly dark thought, though. I think, in the end, either he’ll kill Cersei or Cersei will order his death.
If Lannisters are so fertile, why aren’t there more Tyrions running around? Also, we better stop due to spoilers. Let’s just say I know Cersei’s last reveal won’t stay.
And yeah for Taylor Swift!
I agree about Jaime and Cersei. It just can’t end well.
And as much as I loathe Cersei (even though I was gunning for her “shame” vengeance!), I have never loathed Jaime. He’s not all good but he’s not all bad either.
Dude, how about the old lady’s drop-the-mic moment? BOOM. Okay, I’ll stop now for fear of spoiling something. 😉
What’s the dragon mother’s name? Isn’t SHE Cersei? I thought everyone loves her most? Again… I’m SO behind. 1.5 seasons under my belt.
NOS4A2 by Joe Hill is on sale for 1.99 from 10.99 today
Awesome find Tasha!!! I’m collecting his books as we speak. 😀 In fact, thanks to your find, I just one-clicked it!!
I don’t watch WD anymore, not sure if I’ll pick it up again, but Daryl along with Jamie are just favorite arcs. I like watching (reading)them. I wish our books did this more and took the time with them.
So, Justified was a great show. It is done now and I thought had a really satisfying ending. Very complex characters and amazing acting. One of the best antagonistic, but almost bromances ever. Just putting it out there. Seriously so fun to watch Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder.
The old lady reminded me of the Dowager from Downton. I love that these actors are getting a chance to shine even though not 20.
About spoilers but not a spoiler. Don’t you ever wish you could just talk about it and all the details and not worry about spoiling anyone?
Though I have been spoiled before in bad ways. Like, you just have a away the whole story or motivation.
But sometimes I just want to discuss it, lol.
LOL bev. That spoiler-need confession sounds like a reader confession if I ever heard one. 😉 I think I may feature this tonight, because I have no doubt that many feel the same way.
And yes, sometimes the book is SO darn good I just want to retell it to anyone who’ll listen (in it’s entirety) because I AM DESPERATE for them to understand my love for the book and WHY (hence my teeter-tottering in the spoiler direction), and re-live it with readers (or watchers – if it’s a movie) so we can gasp and ooooh and ahhhh over all the crazy stuff.
Sometimes we even pick up on stuff we missed that way, or even suddenly “clue in” and understand things even better when another tells it to us from their own perspective. Spoiler-chat is fun for sure. And in fact, SOMETIMES… and ONLY SOMETIMES, a “spoiler” moment that is revealed might actually entice me to read the book, just on that jaw-dropping spoiler alone. As long as the whole thing isn’t spoiled by that reveal, of course. And never tell me the ending. That’s my hard limit.
but sometimes I get reader questions, and there are spoilers in there (and I haven’t read the book) but the way the book is described makes me want to read it anyway.
So… I have a love-hate relationship with spoilers for sure, but I get you bev.
Wish You Were Here had a somewhat slow start and I want to tell the h to grow a pair, BUT the feels. This book has them!!!
Anyone remember reading A Child Called “It” in school? Dave Pelzer announced recently that it’s going to be made into a movie. We read that book so young, I remember it was very tough for me to read at the time. It was really good, but child abuse was such a sad, scary subject for our young minds to absorb. I’m still a scaredy cat with movies with that in it. An American Crime, with Ellen Page, I watched probably 10yrs ago or so and I’m still troubled by it to this day. It was probably one of the worst one’s I’ve watched, ever.
I read “A Child Called It” so many years ago and while I couldn’t put it down, it messed me up, made me so depressed and I can’t even believe he survived that. I can’t understand how ANYONE treats someone like that, let alone a child.
UGH. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch that movie.
When I was really young, I read and re-read Mommy Dearest (and saw that movie) and that too… has scarred me.
I just finished The Lying Game by Ruth Ware, LOVED it!!! I know I said it might take me a while on GR, Bev, but I couldn’t put it down! I mean, it hooked me right away, but by about 20%, probably, I was getting super invested, and by 40/50% I was totally and completely hooked, and I had to keep reading. Ah, so one of my favorites! I can’t attest to her other books bc this is the only one I’ve read of hers, but I’ll definitely be checking them out. Amy, if you haven’t read this one, I feel like it has your name written all over it!
Maybe create a spoiler thread on GR? With no spoiler tags, that’s just too much work! Now I’m wondering about which old lady you’re talking about? The witch?
Happy birthday and thanks for including my new release!
Thank you Kylie, and it’s my pleasure!! 😀
I am skipping all of your posts, you naughty little imps… *side-eyes the whole lot of you*
Whatcha reading Wednesday? and what’s for dinner? I must be very careful that you all read this one correctly.
I’m READING Sparrow by L.J. Shen…
I’m EATING… I have no idea. Tonight is my little’s first football scrimmage so, I have no clue what we’ll be eating as we have to be in the neighboring town at 5… and won’t be done until 8…that kind of puts a kabosh on the whole meal planning thing…
I’m reading “Something in the Way”. I just couldn’t hold myself back any longer. I know it’ll be a few months before #3 is out, but I just HAVE to know what the fuss is. This sounds so much like my angsty-thing…
I just can’t resist anymore. I’ve never been all that patient anyway. 😉
I’m neck deep in Dark of the Moon and I’m never eating again after those cheese enchiladas I inhaled last night.
Question, has anyone bought an e-book copy of The Wild on Webster’s website? I have someone of FB asking me what happens after you pay. I guess the book doesn’t automatically download?
Funny enough, I threw some chicken breast and leftover enchilada sauce I had in the freezer in the crockpot yesterday, shredded it up and made tacos out of them. That was quick and easy for us. I may make quesadillas outta the leftovers for lunch today. No idea what I’m doing for supper yet tonight either. My daughter has a hair apt at 4 so it’ll have to be something quick to prepare too. Maybe brats and tater tots, cuz I’m feeling fancy. Lol I think I’m gonna purchase Eleanor today, and try to get some reading done there.
Grey!!!!!!!!!!!! Then you should definitely NOT join in this thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/18825871-anything-and-everything-games-of-thrones-series-spoilers-with-no-tags
Rubin, it depends on how they get their book. They have to get on their tablet and get it directly from the site.
I don’t think there’s a place to get it from the author’s site. It asks for your email address when you’re checking out, but that’s it. It makes it appear that it will be emailed, but she hasn’t received it and I know someone on here had the same issue before but IDK if they ever actually got the book.
Ela, you naughty little minx… Hopefully this weekend, I can catch the rest of the way up with GoT… I love it!
I feel like it would take me a month or two of straight GoT watching to get through all the seasons in a marathon sitting… Am I right? GAH!!!
I just finished reading Forget by N.A. Alcorn. Loved it! Not sure if I am diving in to the sequel or the other million things I want to finish this month. *shrugs* Book nerd problems.
I just figured out I am making stuffed peppers for super. Heading out to grocery store now.
I am finishing up the Scorpio Races, like 20 pages left. Then it is on to Days of Blood an Starlight.
Overdue at library and that pushes them up the the.
Not sure what is for dinner I need to go grocery shopping to day.
I need to catch up on GoT too. Need to remember where I left off. Luckily seasons are short, ten eps? Maybe a few every weekend for the fall.
Tasha, that is good to hear. Her the The Woman in Cabin 10 tempts me.
I have never read A Child Called It, don’t know if I can as I have heard of it. I am surprised it was school reading.
Maryse, yes to the clue in part. So much yes. It is why I sometimes read recaps after I watch a show or re read a review that made me read the book in the first place. I discover new things all the time. I love seeing people’s reactions or what they are invested in.
I just finished Wish You Were Here. I cried- a big, ugly cry in my daughter’s hospital room. (guess I can read Atheist now Maryse and Amy!)
WYWH was sweet, heartbreaking and somewhat angsty. I didn’t like the h too much in the beginning because she was so wimpy, but she evolved because of the circumstances she went thru and I grew to like her by the end. Loved Adam and Seth. My heart broke for them and I felt the emotions they were going thru and wanted what they wanted to come true. Beautiful writing as always with this author. My only complaint is the ending tied up too quickly and I wanted more.
Daenerys is the mother of dragons. After 1.5 yeah, you don’t need to worry about who’s hated by season seven. Anyone hated you’ll hate too by then. 😀
I finished Make Me by Amanda Heath in my need to read every bully book. I swear, I’ve read a book so similar, but that was better. Now I’m going to go nuts trying to remember what book it was.
Daenerys has one long as title: “Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons”
Is anyone else not getting all there notifications from GR?
Deeper by Robin York is 99. Love this book. Caroline and West are great. Totally charmed me.
One more comment.
Apparently there are some Filipino romances on sale too.

Happiest of birthday wishes Maryse! Have a super day and thanks again chick!
Bev, can you PM me on Goodreads and give me the ending for Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I have Days of Blood and Starlight and haven’t started it because it’s been years since I read the first one.
Okay, drive-by comment catch up…
*takes deep breath*
Walking Dead was boring me last season so not excited for next season…Wish You Were Here is next after Cheryl’s reaction and use of catnip words…can’t read A Child Called It, just can’t …An American Crime WAS troubling and broke my heart in the worst way…thanks Tasha, I thought I had The Lying Game but I don’t so I just clicked it…Ela, I was talking about Lady Olenna and her drop-the-mic moment and holy moly I love that woman’s spunkiness…making spaghetti and meatballs tonight…LOVED Deeper by Robin York.
I think I covered everything. 😉
Nope, I forgot something…
YES Maryse, you should catch up on GoT so you can gush with us! I’ve been re-watching from season one and I’m almost done with season three. I watch it while on the elliptical or treadmill (instead of running outside), on my iPad while getting ready in the morning, while re-painting some of our rooms, etc. can’t have it on while reading though. Because torn loyalties. *snort*
Oh, and re: spoilers…y’all know I hate ’em, but I like being able to find them if I want to, like with The Wild. But if I’m not seeking them out then I don’t want to know.
Funny, Cheryl’s reaction makes me NOT want to read Wish You Were Here. 😉
Deeper/Harder by Robin York was a good one. Perfect for those who like broken/jerky heros.
A Child Called it?? No way would I touch that one. No siree.
Spoilers…well, I only want them when I am looking for them and most importantly I WANT TO KNOW IF CHARACTER IS GOING TO DIE. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, PLEASE DO NOT LET ME READ A DEATH BOOK!! Spoilers are imperative when it comes to dying.
Friends don’t let friends read death books!!!
😀 😀 😀
Happy Birthday Maryse!!!! Hope you had an awesome day!! 🙂
Leslie, I am not giving any spoilers- I hate them, unless I’m also looking for them. I did cry, but not at the end.
Trying to decide if I want to one-click Social Media. I like the premise, just not sure about the writing. The sample was ok.
Tessa, maybe this:

Thanks Cheryl, that DOES make it a little better.
Happy Birthday Maryse! The best and only book blog I read! You are the best part of my day! Thank you for everything you do!
Amy, good timing if still here. Scroll to the spaghetti video. The Wes Anderson one is pretty perfect though burnt is best.

Bev that did help a lot! Thank you! For some reason, the tooth thing jogged my memory.
Anyone read Savage/Savior- The Kingwood duet? It’s KU and I’m trying to decide what to read next.
LOvE it!!! Grey is reading Sparrow!!! Tessa is reading Make Me!!! Loved both of those books!!! Hope you both enjoy them too!!!
Tessa – it seems like a while back there was a short discussion about a more recent book that was similar to Make Me…maybe…I’ll see if I can find it
I am glad. I love these plot summaries when I cannot remember. Like what happened in that movie again?
Maryse – sorry I missed your birthday. *hugs* Sounds like you had a great day!
Spoilers, huh? I HATE it when I accidentally read one, but sometimes, yeah I go looking for them (like Wild *shudders*). So I like them to be available but only when I’m braced and ready for ’em.
I haven’t watched GoT yet, but it’s on the list! But I’m a bit worried it might be too violent for me???? I’ll have to watch it with a blankie ready to hide behind on the yucky parts. My current TV addiction is Versailles. I’m in series 2 and FLOVING it! Ooh, those sexee frensheeee men with their beautiful long black hair and their gorgeous clothes. *fans self* Gimme some French 17th century luvvin 😉
ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!
I was a BAD girl and watched the leaked episode of GoT for this upcoming Sunday and NOOOOOOOO!!!!
I’m going to go cry in the corner now…
Uh -oh.
Now go to the spoiler thread on GR Amy. Stat! Though maybe hide it under a tag.
Ooh just googled. Deep breath going to read it.
Seriously, I am SO sad right now.
*waits for bev’s are-you-serious face after she reads the spoiler*
Ok.
It is super sad and surprising. It was not even something I thought I would have to brace for, you know?
But I am a bit relieved. I know horrible but I was oh my they actually killed off…… cause of your reaction.
Know what cracks me up? Every recap mentions how fast the eps are moving to fit everything in, lol. Remember how long it used to take for stories to align?
Right?!? I definitely wasn’t braced and ready for that. The last scene…GAH!!! I. Want. To. Cut. A. B!tch. Anyone will do right now.
That was just WRONG. 😥
And holy moly, the stories are aligning now! I’m actually (surprisingly) okay with the eps moving as quick as they are. 😉
FLT
Listening to: Sex Says by Max Monroe
“My name is Lola Sexton, and I’m a sex addict. Okay…that’s a lie.” (Not to be confused with my fave, the Addicted series by Krista Ritchie which h really IS a sex addict)
Reading: Blur by N.A. Alcorn
The secrets weren’t mine, so I hid them.
OMG I READ THE GOT SPOILER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JUST NOOOOOOOOOOOO
I DIDN’T WATCH IT THOUGH…. BUT I MIGHT DURING LUNCH…
I just finished Illegal Contact. How in the world am I going to find my next book? It’s always impossible after Santino Hassell story. This was a brilliant five-star romance.
FLT: “When people ask me what I do—taxi drivers, hairdressers—I tell them I work in an office.” Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
– It’s early still, but I’m really enjoying this book. Eleanor’s a little different and I’m digging it. Haha
FLT ~ Silence. The most loaded sound in human history. ~ Sparrow by L.J. Shen
ELA! You will get the full effect when you watch it, and IT. JUST. SUCKS!!!!!
And a certain “someone’s” reaction…*sob*
I’m still upset about it. 🙁
FLT
“The problem wasn’t so much that Lexie had taken the Klonopin.” ~ The Trouble With Lexie by Jessica Anya Blau
I’m REALLY liking this one. She’s a mess and I like her for it.
Prague, early May.
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor.
“We should start back,” Gared urged as the woods began to grow dark around them.
A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)
by George R.R. Martin
You know who still makes me sad?
Look away if you haven’t watched SOA. If you are going to watch it. And if you are then WATCH it already it started almost a DECADE ago.
Anyway: Opie. That was freaking brutal. It still makes me sad.
But then I remember we were discussing man buns on here and I mentioned Opie. And Amy thought I meant I think of his butt and her reaction still makes me laugh.
Ela, the wolf puppies. Oh, Ghost.
Alright, I went to read the spoiler because I was worried it was someone else. I kind of expected that one, honestly. I’ll reveal more why in spoilers, but yeah. Though, it’s available now? WEEEEE! Though, where can I even watch it? It’s not on demand. 🙁
FLT:
Paladin Selena Koren knelt at the altar, head bowed, eyes squeezed shut.
The Dark of the Moon by ES Bell
I’m at location 3138 of 9662. You know that second number makes me happy. 😀
Yassssssssssssss Opie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But truly “the red wedding” still makes me tear up!!!!!!!!!!!
Where can you watch the next episode? Ive only found episode 5. The Dark of the Moon jas my attention big time. My brain is trying to unravel everything. I wish i knew some minor details to help with the guessing.
My FLT is the same as Tessa’s. And I’m kinda hoping it will be next week’s too. I’m dying to know what happens but I’m not ready for it to end.
New Flt ~ “YOUR MOM WAS THE BEST woman I’ve ever known, Matty,” John Hadder told me as he squeezed my suit-jacket-covered shoulder. ~ Alex in Wonderland by Max Monroe
Still trying to decide on my FLT. I may read another of Max Monroe’s- Dr. Erotic. What can I say, I’m camped out in my daughter’s hospital room- maybe he’ll stop by!! 😉
Also was looking at Dating You Hating You, but I’m hating the price. I have been trying to cut down on my book purchases, since I have KU. Just want a funny book right now and nothing in KU (that I haven’t read already) is appealing to me.
Cheryl, have you read Laura Florand? Her Once Upon A Rose is leandable if you want to try it. She has a sort if whimsical style. I love the meet cute in this one. You can disappear to France for a bit if you want to borrow it.
Oh, and Ellen O’Connell is on KU. Eyes of Silver, Eyes Of Gold, Without Words, A Beautiful Bad man, all soooo gooooood. I dont know if you read HR but get to try for basically free. So good. You are out of your normal habitats anyway…….;)
Thanks Bev. I’ll check those out now.
Ooooh, I just went to France in my last book and it was lovely! *snort* 🙂
(Forget by N.A. Alcorn)
Leslie, I LOVED Dylan and Forget and Blur!!! Vive la France!! 😉
Cheryl, Dating You Hating You was nothing special (IMO). Nowhere near as good as the Beautiful series :/ So you’re not missing much…….
I second bev’s rec of Laura Florand. I like the one bev mentioned, and there is a new one coming out soon in that series – sah-weet! My fav series of hers is Amour et Chocolat. I floved The Chocolate Touch and The Chocolate Heart. Paris, chocolates, hot chefs, a bit of angst, some sexy romance… what’s not to love? Oh Dominque, oh Luc, you gorgeous, gorgeous men………. Vive la France!
I’m loving reading all of the first lines today. Some really intriguing ones. BTW Amy, what’s a Klonopin????
My FLT is:
‘No heart,’ I whispered into my coat collar.
from The Butterfly Project, Emma Scott.
I’ve somehow dragged myself (briefly) away from my crazy HR-fest I’m trapped in, to go for this lovely CR set in NYC. Lonely young bike messenger with a past meets lonely young graphic artist with a past. I’m a third in and it’s quite sweet so far. This is my pick-for-me tbr challenge book from our GR group and I’m TRYING to complete at least one of my challenges!!
