Morning!! 🙂
I want to sit and read and drink coffee all day. Doesn’t that sound like heaven? Unfortunately real life duties await…first world problems. 🙁
Gah, I hate getting up when I feel so tired. When all your mind and body want to do us go back to sleep.
I felt like that this morning, Bev. That groggy, heavy feeling when you wake and you actually need time to maneuver yourself out of bed. But, since the weather is a lot nicer (overcast, misty, 40s = heaven) school is back on schedule and I had no time to waste making myself move. Plus, last night was the first night in weeks J slept really well. I needed it SO bad.
I’ve been on an iced coffee kick lately.
Sipping an iced caramel macchiato and eating a blueberry scone, preparing to read The Silent Patient. I’m still working on The Chalk Man as well, but I also need a day where I can sit and read all day.
And hey. I got 2 new swimsuits over the weekend. Kohl’s had some out and I tried on a bunch of different styles and sizes. It was the most depressing thing I’d done in a loooong time! And so, I’m not exercising my body until after our waterpark trip next week so that it still fits right. The best logic, no? 😉 *bites scone*
Okay I finally have stopped crying. I don’t watch very many shows but have always enjoyed American’s Got Talent because of all the different talents and so I have been watching this years “Champions” series and this is what had me a sobbing mess. It really moved me. She is absolutely amazing. I hope the link works.
Kseniya Simonova: Sand Artist Gets Terry Crews’ GOLDEN BUZZER – America’s Got Talent: The Champions
I put on Pentagon and got really happy. Now walking to work in SNOW! I LOVE SNOW!
okay so it didn’t but if you just copy that and post it in youtube it should come up
I do NOT want to go back to sleep. I woke up about 5 or 6 times last night with nightmares. All different stories! Grrr I’ve always had vivid (in color) dreams and nightmares, but usually, after waking up from a nightmare, I get dreams instead. :/
*snuggles Tessa*
I hope you slept better last night, my friend.
Tessa-right after my mom lost her life partner of 38 years back in June of 2018 I had a nightmare where my mom, her life partner and I were swimming in the ocean-very vivid blue colors of the water and vivid colors in my mom’s swimsuit she was wearing; anyway a shark came up and had the back of my mom’s leg and just started swallowing her- I started swimming towards her to help her but I was not moving at all so then I started yelling at her life partner to help her and they said NO MOM IS COMING HOME WITH ME; by this time all I saw left was my mom’s head and I woke up hysterically crying, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t speak, couldn’t move-it paralyzed me. My husband had no idea what to do-what was was wrong…I wrote on a piece of paper “had nightmare” and wrote for him to call my mom, it was 3:30 in morning but I had to hear her voice. That by far is the worst nightmare I have ever had in my 45 years of life and one that as I am writing this am crying because it just takes me back to the pain I felt feeling like my mom was gone. Not sure why I shared that but I guess I wanted to let you know you are not alone. Nightmares suck especially the ones that just feel so real like the one I just shared. I remember everything-and I wish I didn’t!
Oh WOW Jenn… that is an AWFUL nightmare. I’ve had a few about losing my mom too, and they depress me for a whole day or more. I love her and I “see her” through FaceTime every single day.
I don’t know what I’d without her, and I don’t even let my mind go there…
That is one of the worst nightmares I’ve ever heard. I can see why it happened, but uck! *hugs* Most of mine fade, because I try to just reason them out, but last night it just didn’t work. One of them even involved Spongebob Squarepants characters. lol
Thanks Tessa and yes by far the worst! I have never had one that ever felt that real and definitely have never had one involving family ever so that was just too much. Anyway….you made me laugh with the whole sponge-bob characters thing. 🙂
I figured out why the link did not work and that’s because I didn’t actually post a link lol here it is for anyone interested

I need COFFEEEEE. Had to get up very early this morning to take my son and daughter-in-law to the station. They’re going on a cruise (around New Zealand!) and didn’t want to leave their car at the port so took the train to Melbourne. But the train leaves at such an unfriendly hour! Eek!
Gimme coffee *holds out large mug*
*fills mug with coffee* There you go!
Oh! The snow here is at 2000 feet elevation or less. That means I see snow on the mountains around here! YAY!
Tessa’s dreaming about Squidward & Patrick. Oh boy!
Jan – what the heck is going on in Australia? Flooding destroys 20K homes! Really? OMG
Jenn – that was sooooo beautiful. A true storyteller! Hope she wins the whole thing.
MichelleS-I hope so too-I am just in awe and am so amazed-she creates these stories with just her hands and sand and just makes you feel so much!
Yeah we’ve got some crazy weather going on here, Michelle. We’ve had a super heatwave down south – hottest January on record. And way up in the north they’ve had so much rain in Townsville there have been record-breaking floods. They have a more tropical type climate up there, but that much rain is ridiculous. There was so much water they had to open the dam to prevent worse problems. Eek! I feel so sorry for the people whose houses have been flooded.
Also there’s lots of bushfires (wildfires) in Tasmania over the last few weeks – the beautiful island just south of the mainland. A few fires here in Victoria too (where I live). No bad fires right near me though, thank goodness.
I’m jealous of your snowy views, Tessa. *sips coffee, sitting in front of air conditioner*
The news said the snow happens once a decade (ish) so I’ll take it. It’s already melting and is just on the caps. I did get pics, but my phone sucks so they look like crap. lol
Yeah, the weather down there is going nuts, that’s for sure. Fire is never fun to deal with, and neither is flooding. Yuck.
I’ll be so happy if my little area can just miss fire season next year.
Maryse-I could be wrong but won’t it be the 10 year birthday of the “birth of your blog” end of this month. Wow and I have been here silently and sometimes very loudly since 2012 🙂 One of my nieces bday is the 28th of this month which is what made me think of it. Plus she loves to read and I have told her to come visit us here if she does her name is Aubrianna. 🙂
You are so right Jenn!!! I started it in 2009. CRAZY!!!!
P.S. I LOVE that name, Jenn!!
Jenn – I started “lurking” in 2011. Wow. Just wow!
Maryse – for your ten year, maybe we could all post our “first Maryse rec you read” when you found the blog! Mine was Backstage Pass. LOL!
Thank you Maryse-I love the name too; when she was younger we all called her Aubri, as she got older she didn’t like being called Aubri as she said it made her feel like a baby so now we all call her “Aubrianna” she will be 27 years old. Where the hell does the time go.
MichelleS-I will never forget mine as it still is my all time favorite. “The Sea of Tranquility” I re-read it every year…it’s like home to me. 🙂 Very fitting as that is what coming here is like for me 🙂
Maryse-I know it’s horrible especially when it’s the one person you can’t live without. I was a wreck for I think a week. I was driving my mom crazy as I kept calling her to make sure she was okay and nothing was wrong that she was not telling me. I have not had a nightmare since that one thank God but that one was like having a 1000 at once.
Also I wanted to share something with everyone as I need the prayers for my sister. Only MicheleG knows but now we are at a bend in the road where I need ALL the prayers. My 42 year old sister had her first mammogram a few weeks ago; which was not good. I went with her last week where they did more imaging and ultrasound. Later that same day they called and I had to take her to have a biopsy done. (they actually did a lumpectomy and sent that out for biopsy) She was called yesterday to come to doctors at 9am this morning. My mom took her so here I wait for a phone call from them! I am a wreck over it.
Uggghhh Jennnnn I’m so sorry to hear that. So stressful for her and all of you. I’d be a wreck too.
The waiting is the worst. I hope it all turns out well. Prayers and good thoughts.
Maryse Happy Blog Birthday!
From a lurker to a talker, lol. I’m glad I found you all.
I’m so glad you found us too, bev!!! This blog would not be the same without you. I hope we grow OLD together!!! 😀
Thank you Bev!
It’s been hard for me to read due to my sisters health distraction so I decided maybe I needed to listen to a book vs trying to read so I got “Bad Mommy-I can be a better you” on audio. I am LOVING it.
Maryse….. My most highly anticipated of 2019….The Son and his Hope by Pepper Winters release date is Feb 12 per amazon. YAY!!!!!!
SQUEEE!!! I saw that Stacey, and I updated the “reading order”. I love Duets that turn into more. :D!!!
Today I already feel old, lol. One of those off days when you feel like you should be sick but are just off.
*hugs* Prayers Jenn.
Thank you, Maryse. One nightmare, but nothing I couldn’t break out of and forget. *grins* I’ll take it.
“I’ll be so happy if my little area can just miss fire season next year.”
…
…
This! I won’t even be picky. Brush fires and crap are okay. Just, please no mask wearing this year.
Geez! I feel like I missed so much in a day and 1/2. Hugs to Tessa for nightmares! Jenn knows I’m sending her hugs for her sis!!
Congrats Maryse on 10 years for the blog!! Wowza!!
Just sending out prayers that everyone stays safe…I don’t know who may be in the path of what…but it always seems like something is going on whether or not it is fires or something else weather related. Hugs ladies!!
On a book note… I’m soooo excited for The Son & His Hope!!
Congrats on the upcoming anniversary, Maryse. So many of us get so much enjoyment and fab book recs from your great blog. I love this community. No nasty comments on here, and no books being *pushed* at us. Just a nice smorgasbord to take our choice. Sometimes we pick a dud (like at the buffet when you pick up that weird fishy hors d’oevre and then sneakily slip it onto the dirty plate pile after one gross taste). But so many winners I have got from this blog. And the friendships too. *group hug*
I checked, and I’ve only been blogging here since March 2016. Not even 3 years yet. A mere babe. It feels longer though (but in a good way).
I’m not sure what my first rec I got from here was, actually, but I know one of the early recs I really LOVED was The Last Hour of Gann. I would NEVER have found that book on my own.
Jenn, I hope all works out well for your sister. *hugs Jenn*
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers-they have confirmed that the biopsy came back benign-no evidence of cancer. She has to have a follow up in three months-this makes my heart so happy! Thank you all again.
Oh I am so relieved for you Jenn!!!!!!!!
I know I found you all at a time when I really needed to.
I am still surprised at myself with how involved I got.
Exactly Tessa. No feeling like your walking through a bonfire or worried of evacuations.
So, I just finished The Silent Patient and holy cow! It reads so well, sucks you right in and keeps you invested till the very end. I’m telling you, I had thought up what I thought to be every possibility of what happened and was completely, totally shocked at the outcome. Jezebel vibes, peeps!
OMG TASHA!!! That book is for me!!!!! I always love when you freak out over a thriller. :D!!!
Only because of shock value, and the great story, not cause they match or anything.
What a relief, Jenn! I read your original post and had already said prayers and then I see it’s benign! What a great feeling!
As many here know, my mom passed away in 2017 from breast cancer that had been dormant for 17 years that came back hard and fast. My younger sister has now inherited the fibrous tumors that my mom always had before she was ever diagnosed with cancer and we have a scare with my sister at least once a year. So I share in your relief!
What a huge accomplishment, Maryse! You’ve done so much to bring so many readers years of reading enjoyment. And you’ve brought all of us together, which is the best part! I first visited here after I read Thoughtless in 2012 and got many recommendations before I actually started posting in 2016. Congrats and thank you!
Kristen Ashley’s Free was an emotional read for me because I loved all her Chaos series so much. I agree with the other posts that there was a lot going on in this book and the story packed a lot in. I missed the usual depth of the other books, but she did tie up a lot of loose ends. Known for her epilogues, KA didn’t disappoint and it was a beautiful ending. While I am sad to say goodbye to the chaos family it was a great ride (pun intended).
Darn ….the first sentence of my post above didn’t take.
My post started with….
Hello all
So, I finally finished IT and …(see above post)
So pleased for your sister, Jenn. Great news!
I think I’m reading too slow for a new FLT. But you want to know what I want to know?
Is Amy a derby girl?
Just wanted to thank all you lovelies again for your kind thoughts and prayers; you guys rock!
Tasha-You have me wanting to read “The Silent Patient” currently I am being creeped out by “Bad Mommy” as I am listening to it on audio and it’s so unlike me to listen to this type of book vs reading it but it actually is really working for me.
Tessa-Just wanted you to know as I believe you are the one that went crazy for it on here…I am reading “Boys of Brayshaw High” I was hooked just in the first few chapters.
So My FLT: is a twofer 🙂
I see you getting things you don’t deserve, living it up.
Bad Mommy-I Can Be A Better You-Tarryn Fisher

FLT:
“Kami stayed over.” Charming as Puck by Pippa Grant.
Happy Birthday Ela!!!
*hugs*
Happy Birthday Ella!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELA!!!
I need something different. I loved my last 2 reads- The Chalk Man and The Silent Patient- but I need a break from thrillers and don’t want anything heavy either, I think. 2 books I had on hold at the library came in, The Bluest Eye and Jar of Hearts, but as I read the blurb reminding me what they were about (my library takes months to deliver a hold), all I could think was ugh!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELA!!!!!!!
FLT: His was not a face that women carried with them into their dreams.
From Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath.
It’s a Western historical romance. The February BOTM read for one of my GR groups. It’s OK so far. A mail order bride gets collected from the train by the wrong brother, cos the actual one broke his leg. But of course she falls for the dude who picked her up, scarred face and all. (Civil War survivor). I’m not sure how much I’ll like this one, but it has lots of great reviews, so I’ll stick with it for now.
Happy Birthday here too, Ela!
FLT:
Vhalla was falling.
Earth’s End by Elsia Kova – Alright, technically, I just finished it, but that’s what I was reading! 😀
