<— HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! Between yesterday’s early bird list (I think the biggest we’ve had, yet!!) and today’s we’ve got plenty to peruse (and a few recommendations that have me VERY curious!!). I’m still working on today’s list so keep checking back (and let me know if I missed any, or if you have a recommendation).

P.S. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out yesterday’s earlybirds, and my latest review:

LET’S READ!!!! :D !!!!

P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order)

  • Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely <— LAUREN BLAKELY SUPER-BARGAIN!! After Violet saves the day with the highest bid, I don’t even give her a two-minute warning before I kiss her in front of the whole crowd and then announce that she’s my girlfriend. Then my agent tells me we have to keep up the act while he’s negotiating my contract...”
  • The Beautiful Years I: A Mafia Romance Saga by Annie Rose Welch <— RECENT RELEASE & recommended by Deb!!

Deb: Oh wow! So glad I found you on FB & your blog here, thanks to Stephanie  I love your recommendations & hope you’ll take a look at one of my favorite new releases by the talented, amazing & just all around sweet human being, Annie Rose Welch, and book #1 in “The Beautiful Years”

Lisa: I loved The Beautiful Years!!!

Debra: Lisa OMG, I finished it last night and I’m in total book hangover! It was soooo good! <3

Joy: On a happy note, author Addison Cain mentioned that she just finished reading Close Encounters by Anna Zaires. I one-clicked it and dove right in. I LOVED IT!!! I finished book one and just started two of the trilogy. I was hooked immediately. I think I’ll be sad to see this couples story end.

BTW, if you like the dark stuff with lots of heat…Addison Cain is the author that gives it to you. Straight, no chaser! She’s not for the faint of heart. Her alpha’s a the biggest A-holes ever, they’re kinky, kinky, kinky, take what they want (non-con), and make you love them by the end of the story. They’re the alpha men you hate to love. Her Facebook group, Addison Cain’s Dark Longing’s Lounge is hilarious and a bit x-rated but we have a ton of fun.

Good morning! Ooooh, what a great list of shinies–and House of York is calling my name!

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 6:40 AM

*rubs sleep out of eyes*

Morning! I can’t wake up today. When hubs woke me up I told him “no” and went back to sleep. Hee hee. So, more coffee please.

I am working on finishing up Bring Down the Stars (yay!) and getting ready for book 2. Here is thread for book 2 BR for anyone who wants to join us. :)

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 6:41 AM

Oh, we didn’t love the radishes in the beef stew but will still try them roasted.

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 7:17 AM

Can I please have Manny? I think I am going to need him. I am feeling very weepy.

Jenn October 16, 2018 at 7:39 AM

Oh Leslie I just read your comments over on GR and I know where you are and *squeezy hugs* I don’t know where AMY is…she must still be with Bev’s psychopath (potential) so she won’t mind I stole manny and *I give him to you*

Jenn October 16, 2018 at 7:42 AM

Nay-I agree House of York does look good…..and I have been waiting for Hate Notes-can’t wait till I have that sexy arrogant looking man on my kindle staring back at me :)

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 7:48 AM

Thanks Jenn, I will probably be ready to start book 2 tonight.

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 7:53 AM

Why are you feeling weepy Leslie???

*snuggles Leslie*

Here’s Manny. He’s a little matted. ;)

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 7:54 AM

House of York DOES sound goooooood!!!

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 8:01 AM

LOL I just saw a major typo that I just corrected. I shouldn’t blog before coffee. ;)

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 8:21 AM

Maryse, I’m having a book freak out. The emotions from Bring Down the Stars are making me weepy. Currently at 91%.

*snuggles Manny*

Amy October 16, 2018 at 8:23 AM

*stumbles in rubbing eyes*

*accidentally kicks the glitter bomb*

Oops, hope it’s not broken. Time for caffeine.

You’ll all be relieved to know I’m alive and safe from bev’s psychopath. He creeped me out but I managed to sneak away. Now I just might have to follow her trail and visit Alaska…

Amy October 16, 2018 at 8:28 AM

Awww Leslie, just keep snuggling Manny. He’s used to getting snuffled on. ;)

You Were Always Mine looks VERY promising. And the cover is intriguing! Any cover with water always catches my eye.

Random musing…I’m obsessed with color-changing nail polish right now, especially since it’s cold enough for it to change. :D

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 8:35 AM

“I would bring down the Stars for her”

Manny is covered in snot

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 8:59 AM

I am finished and I am freaking out. WOW! The last 25% killed me. Thank goodness the whole book wasn’t that intense. I made me feel like I did when I read Behind the Bars. I am emotionally drained right now.

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 9:07 AM

Amy, have you read Bring Down the Stars? It’s super emotional. It’s dual POV, but I think you would like it.

bev October 16, 2018 at 9:09 AM

I’m glad your safe Amy. Lol.

R, can stop looking around her yard.

R. Renee October 16, 2018 at 9:48 AM

Oops was I supposed to be looking? Sorry Amy. I’m too busy laughing at Leslie.

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 10:22 AM

*snort* :P

Amy October 16, 2018 at 11:13 AM

It’s all good. Hubby would have gone all spec ops looking for me eventually. :P

Leslie, I tend to stay away from books with military characters because the jargon/scenarios/actions tend to be a little…cringeworthy at times. Or I end up getting annoyed and yelling at my iPad, “That wouldn’t happen!!” *shrug*

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 11:28 AM

Tessa October 16, 2018 at 12:04 PM

R! Totally random question. Have you started decorating for Halloween?

Okay, The Beautiful Years looks GOOOOOOD. Also, the first of those Anna Zaires is free, so why not? :D

R. Renee October 16, 2018 at 12:12 PM

No. I’m totally skipping it even though it’s our anniversary! It falls on a Wed and ‘ll be in Vegas with Emma the weekend before. Do we know if anyone else is going? It’s the Love N. Vegas con.

Michele G October 16, 2018 at 12:49 PM

Hey R, stop laughing at Leslie and work on lining up those cocktails for the Long Live the Beautiful Hearts buddy read later on…pretty please :-)

Hugs Leslie…I’m with you on the emotions! It’s so intense! Between this and seeing A Star Is Born on Sunday, my poor little heart is trying desperately to recover from all the intensity and sadness…sniffle. Do you think we could all maybe share Manny on this next BR? I think we’re gonna need him.

R. Renee October 16, 2018 at 1:01 PM

Trust me Michele. You don’t want anything to do with Manny right now. And it’s after noon, drinks are served!

Michele G October 16, 2018 at 1:36 PM

R, oh yeah I forgot Manny is snot-covered …yikes! So, I’ll take a cocktail and sneak back to read some more…even though I said I wouldn’t…

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 1:44 PM

Dirty martini please!!! Extra olives. :D

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 1:45 PM

Tessa I haven’t started yet… I’m waiting for the first brisk day in October (hoping soon), and then I’m going all out. *fingers crossed*

R. Renee October 16, 2018 at 1:49 PM

*passes martini to Maryse*

Tessa October 16, 2018 at 2:20 PM

I had to early because this is little dude’s favorite holiday. :D

Amy October 16, 2018 at 2:29 PM

We’re having martinis already?? Heck YEAH!!!!! Extra dirty for me. :P

And yes, Maryse…color changing polish! They call it “mood” polish, but it’s really based on temperature. It’s one color when it’s cold (usually darker) and then changes when the fingers warm up. Right now I have burgundy glass fleck that turns cherry red glass fleck when I’m warm. Last time it was deep purple (cold) that turned to a warm coral-pink (warm). AND! The glass flecks in that one went from blue with the purple to gold with the coral-pink. It’s so fun!!

Amy October 16, 2018 at 2:31 PM

Hubby is ordering an evil-looking animatronic that’s seven feet tall to add to our ever-growing animatronic collection. But I love Halloween so I’m not going to fight it too much. *snicker*

bev October 16, 2018 at 3:20 PM

Usually by noon Manny is tipsy anyway.

Ok, if you wont watch a drama with me then summer time let’s fly to korea.
Though drama is cheaper.

Maryse October 16, 2018 at 3:43 PM

I wanna watch that new Netflix show… Hill House? SCARY is what I hear!!!

Amy October 16, 2018 at 4:04 PM

Okay ladies, refresh my memory…what is the title of the Alaska book?

*goes to look up Hill House*

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 5:18 PM

Amy, I think the book you are asking about is The Simple Wild.

Tasha J October 16, 2018 at 5:38 PM

I’m excited for Sabrina on Netflix, I’ll have to look up Hill House.

Amy October 16, 2018 at 6:38 PM

Yep, that’s it Leslie…thanks!

bev October 16, 2018 at 6:50 PM

Oh, yeah.

Everyone checking out Leslie’s books and Maryse’s scary show.

But me …

I posted it before, but I’m reminding everyone. Bev has feelings too. ;)

bev October 16, 2018 at 8:02 PM

I’m so sad right now. Drama Fever shut down.

Tessa October 16, 2018 at 8:03 PM

I can’t do House Hill. Too scary. Ironically, totally looking forward to Sabrina. :)

Leslie M October 16, 2018 at 8:16 PM

Bev, oh no! What happened to your show?

bev October 16, 2018 at 8:31 PM

Luckily my psychopath is on Viki.

But I do have a couple other new ones and some old ones I was slowly watching on DF.

I will have to look somewhere else.
I loved that DF had a download option that most streaming sites dont offer.

Megan October 17, 2018 at 2:44 AM

Hi. Did you ever find out the name of the book someone was enquiring about? The one about a guy (maybe a rock star, can’t remember) who goes to a wedding and continues sleeping with a girl, even though he’s engaged? Sorry, the details are fuzzy, but that’s the gist of what I remember. Any news on this? Thanks.

bev October 17, 2018 at 8:53 AM

Why everyone so quiet on a Wednesday?

Tell me about yourself at this moment.

Dont Think Twice Its Ass alright just came on. I forget how much I love it and then it plays. Love the lyrics love the way Dylan sings it. So so good:

So long honey babe
Where I’m bound, I can’t tell
Goodbye is too good a word, babe
So I just say fare thee well
I ain’t sayin’ you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don’t mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don’t think twice, it’s all right

Tessa, I love the way a good cut feels. The colors sound awesome and unique. Glad it’s making you so happy.

bev October 17, 2018 at 9:20 AM

Why’d my phone put ass in there??

I usually have to try ten time before it will let me cuss.

Also not the word I choose when I emphatically love some thing. That word my phone types as: duck.

Michele G October 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM

Good Morning! I love to see Bev is trying to get some discussion flowing!

Drink: Iced Tea

Listening: Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winters

Reading: Financial statements at work (well I guess technically I’m reading Maryse’s blog). I finished reading Long Live the Beautiful Hearts last night …*heavy sigh*

Eating: had eggs and an English muffin (with some cheese thrown in)

Obsession: stalking the LLTBH buddy read today :-)

Hair: ummm since I was up late reading…it’s a dry shampoo day…don’t judge!

Face: nothing exciting – enough makeup to not scare my co-workers

Linnie Flores October 17, 2018 at 10:31 AM

Drink-Coke Zero
Listening TV noise
Eat/Ate Hard Boiled Eggs
Reading Coming of Age in Berkeley by Jake Warner. I highly recommend it!! This is my obsession at the moment.

Maryse October 17, 2018 at 10:44 AM

Oh fun!! I love our bev quizzes!!!

Tell me about yourself at this moment.

Drink: Water with “True Lemon” raspberry lemonade flavor.

Listening: Girl Wash Your Face (audiobook… I’ve discovered that while I READ fiction, I actually prefer self-help & motivational stuff in audio)

Reading: Binding 13. Gotta admit… it’s good right from the start. I love the writing style. It’s going to take me a long time though (over 600 pages!)

Eating: Cheesy Chicken Broccoli casserole. Just made it last night. :)

Obsession: My new magnetic lashes. Cutting them into sections make them SO easy to apply, and I found some that are not obnoxiously thick or long. Just natural but better than my own.

Hair: Left loose, long and curled with a curling iron.

Face: Mascara & eyeliner, eyeshadow, light blush, and neutral pink lipstick. And my magnetic lashes. My favorite look (makeup wise) is a soft and feminine “Bridal Look”

Maryse October 17, 2018 at 10:46 AM

*feeds bev cheesy casserole*

bev looks like a baby bird. Better watch Amy and her… “peanuts”. ;)

Jenn October 17, 2018 at 10:54 AM

Good Morning All-

Drink: Currently Carmel-Vanilla Coffee (kcup)

Listening: Long Live The Beautiful Hearts Soundtrack

Eating: nothing had apple earlier this morning but am choosing to read on my lunch break instead of eat and check in here :)

Obsession: Finding time to read

Hair: light brown, straight and currently wind blown

Face: just mascara and lip moisturizer

Amy October 17, 2018 at 11:44 AM

LOL!!!!! Looks like bev needs some “peanuts” to go with her ass!!! :P Oh wow, I needed that kind of laugh this morning.

Drink: London Fog

Listening: To my coworkers argue

Reading: Truths and Dares…a nice, easy read before I tackle Suki

Eating: Cottage cheese with pineapple

Obsession: Sol de Janeiro products

Hair: Curled (I can’t wait for it to grow out again!)

Face: Moisturizer, primer, foundation, blush, eye makeup, lip gloss…in other words, layers

Tasha J October 17, 2018 at 12:01 PM

Listening: stupid TV show hubs watching

Reading: just finished Long Live the Beautiful Hearts

Eating: warm, chunky applesauce with granola

Obsession: the BR for Long Live the Beautiful Hearts

Hair: Ugh! Didn’t even comb it… it’s in messy top bun.

Face: bare minerals original powder foundation

Jan October 18, 2018 at 1:17 AM

I’m intrigued by the colour change nail polish. Who knew? Clearly, not me. It sounds fun.

bev I laughed when I saw your post about the Dylan song. I never knew it has ass in the title!!!! But I was questioning myself, thinking, or does it?????? LOL. I love those old school Dylan songs.

My drink: sauvignon blanc white wine, nice and cool from the frig.

Reading: Surrender To Ruin HR by Carolyn Jewel.

Eating: soft tacos with chicken on the menu tonight (maybe wth a beer?)

Obsession: Reading. oh YEAH

Hair: needs a cut. I’ve got really thick hair and when it gets a little long I turn into a total boofhead (Aussie slang for someone with a large head)

Face: minimal makeup but I don’t go out without my lipstick on ;)

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 6:35 AM

Good morning! Brrrr….we are having cold front here. With wind chill it feels like the 20′s.

You know what stresses me out daily more than choosing what book to read next? Choosing what to cook for dinner. I’m not the greatest of cooks, so I am limited. I am sitting here, warming up with coffee #2 and trying to meal plan.

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 7:50 AM

Still in the 90s here. Upper 80s… COME ON BRISK CHILL!! I WANNA put up seasonal decorations!!!

Tasha J October 18, 2018 at 7:51 AM

I’m not a good meal planner either. Also, I’m a huge procrastinator. And I make lots of good things, cuz I can follow an easy enough recipe, but I always forget what I made when the time comes to figure out what to make again. I don’t live on rotation meals. Lol
I did cottage pie, roast with potatoes, carrots, and mushroom gravy, and a roast sprinkled with almost 2T homemade taco seasoning (store bought is too strong) with a little beef stock in the bottom of the crock, shred it and had crunchy tacos, and homemade pizza tomorrow. That’s a good week, cuz that last couple I’ve cooked about once and it’s been fend for yourself.

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 7:51 AM

Tasha what is Cottage Pie??? It sounds like comfort food.

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 7:52 AM

Bum Bum Cream!!!! :D I have mine and I love it!!! SO rich and thick but sinks right in.

Oh wow… all of that just sounds ALL SORTS of wrong. *snort*

Tasha J October 18, 2018 at 7:54 AM

It’s Sheppard’s pie made with beef cuz I spare the poor lambs (Sheppard’s pie)

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 7:58 AM

I do a Sheppards pie version all the time. Hub’s loves it. I make mine with layer of ground beef mixed with cream of celery soup on bottom, next layer is corn/creamed corn/peas, then topped with mashed potatoes.

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 8:00 AM

Um…Maryse?? Did I miss something? Why are you talking about “bum bum cream”???

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 8:02 AM

Wait….is it something to do with Amy’s *wink wink* “peanuts” and Bev’s “a$$”??

You guys are getting all kinds of kinky in here! *snort*

Tasha J October 18, 2018 at 8:09 AM

Your Sheppard’s pie sounds easier than mine Leslie, I’ll have to try that one.

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 8:10 AM

Tasha, I like your shredded roast taco idea. I need to try that.

I think for tonight I will do a baked mac & cheese but to snaz it up (cuz I am a fancy pants – ha!) I will do a take on BLT and add some bacon, tomato & spinach. I’ve never added all those before (usually I just do broccoli or spinach) but it sounds yummy.

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 8:12 AM

Tasha, the Shep Pie is super easy and very creamy and flavorful. My friend gave me the tip of adding the creamy soup to the ground beef. I’d prefer cream of mushroom, but hubs doesn’t like.

Tasha J October 18, 2018 at 8:24 AM

I’ll do that next time then. I like that recipe I posted, but it’s a pain chopping and sautéing (which is a joke, takes way longer than 3 min for softening. I prefer to boil or steam). The shredded roast I got from my Dad. It’s good just plain, withough any seasoning, but I thought I’d kick it up this time and it turned out really good.

bev October 18, 2018 at 8:37 AM

We’re very close, leave us alone.

So, I watched my show last night. I started it and then thought I’d rather watch in bed, but I got so engrossed I didnt want to move.
I used to do this with books and I miss that feeling. Like I am thirsty but ……and an hour or so later I’ll finally put the book down to get a drink.

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 8:40 AM

Bev, pardon me. I would NEVER come between your *clears throat* “posterior region” and Amy’s “peanuts”. Please forgive me.

bev October 18, 2018 at 8:43 AM

Ok, now it is getting too weird.

I want some soft tacos.

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 8:48 AM

Tee hee!!

No it’s a HUGELY popular body lotion (and all sorts of extras like lip balms etc) that smells amazing and works so well. You can buy it at Sephora or on Amazon (or other online places):

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 8:49 AM

Tasha!! That’s how my mom used to make it. I’ll see if I can make a keto version (I guess with mashed cauliflower instead). YUMM!!!

Michele G October 18, 2018 at 9:29 AM

I love this site…where else can I feed my book addiction and get recipes and find out about Bum Bum cream?! Btw, I made the slow cooker pesto chicken recipe I saw on here a while back and you would have thought I had given my husband the best sex ever… he was absolutely and totally in love with that chicken :-) So thanks ladies…you made me look like a rockstar!

Amy October 18, 2018 at 10:09 AM

“SO rich and thick but sinks right in.”

*snorts hot tea through nose*

It’s startin’ to feel like the old days up in here…I love it!! :P

Amy October 18, 2018 at 10:18 AM

Michele G…that recipe is so freaking tasty, right??

Bum Bum cream is AMAZING! It smells wonderful, and I’m already seeing results after only about a month of using it (a sweet friend introduced it to me). And you know what I found out? It is great on the back of the hands for those of us who *ahem* are showing their age there. After I put it on my “bum bum” and back of my legs, I rub some into my hands. My hands are actually looking more youthful! Nothing mind blowing but enough to where even hubby has noticed when he looks at my hands. :D

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 10:19 AM

LOL. I miss tacos. Steak tacos.

Amy October 18, 2018 at 10:24 AM

And to continue the dirty vibe…

“Are you sure that this is how you want to do it?” ~ SUKI by CF Winn

It’s actually not dirty like it sounds. *giggle* But I am REALLY looking forward to this one. It’s pretty short, but the blurb…THAT is what a blurb should be. ;)

Leslie M October 18, 2018 at 10:28 AM

I want to try bum bum cream…but for the love of all that is holy, can we call it something else?? It makes me think of diaper rash cream. :)

Amy October 18, 2018 at 10:41 AM

But…it’s fitting because you put it on your bum. *shrugs*

R. Renee October 18, 2018 at 10:47 AM

FLT: “My lungs sucked in air, bringing consciousness and chaos rushing back to me.” Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott. Again. Because…book hangover.

Tessa October 18, 2018 at 10:54 AM

*blinks* I can see it for the back of my hands. They aren’t wrinkled yet, but I don’t want them to be!

Tessa October 18, 2018 at 10:56 AM

Also, not a brag. My hands are constantly oily. It’s a give and take thing. :)

Tasha J October 18, 2018 at 11:10 AM

Did anyone read Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating?

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 11:34 AM

YAY MICHELLE G!! Now I gotta search the comments and find that recipe!!! Nothing better than feeding loved ones and making them so happy.

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 11:35 AM

Right Amy?? We are riled up this week!! :P

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 11:36 AM

What is this SUKI by CF Winn that you speak of?

*runs to look it up*

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 11:37 AM

And and!! Leslie. Saying that name makes everyone laugh. You’ll never forget that cream. Genius marketing… silly name and I cringe when I tell them about it, but the giggle that arises from everyone is so worth it.

And then when they actually smell it… yup. Bum Bum cream. For your bum bum cheeks. And all your other skins. :P

Amy October 18, 2018 at 12:16 PM

This is the recipe Michelle G is talking about:

And let me know what you think of the blurb for SUKI…tell me it doesn’t sound intriguing. ;)

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 12:51 PM

Amy I am intrigued. How is the writing?

Nay October 18, 2018 at 1:10 PM

“I don’t understand why he let her go.”
Scarlet Angel by S.T. Abby (this is part of the Mindf*ck series, 5 novellas of darkish romantic suspense, which I’m loving!)

“My lungs sucked in air, bringing consciousness and chaos rushing back to me.”
Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott

This book is layers and layers of FABULOUS. I just finished it last night but it’s still affecting me this morning, so I added it as well. Everyone needs to read this powerful duet. Definitely will by on my favorites of the year list!

Tessa October 18, 2018 at 1:13 PM

“Mr. President, they are all waiting for you.”
Close Liason by Anna Zaires

I saw it up there and the first was free and I thought, why not? MAN! It hooked me! :)

Jenn October 18, 2018 at 2:21 PM

the last few hours here at work have been horrible, so I decided to come get caught up here and thank God I did. Reading all your posts got me *giggling* over here. You guys truly are the best! *hugs*

*runs away to look up bum bum cream*

Jenn October 18, 2018 at 2:25 PM

And because I want to stay lost in Emma Scott’s World my…..

“He was gentle as ever” Rush Emma Scott

Michele G October 18, 2018 at 2:30 PM

Tasha, I just got Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating. I’ve been waiting for it through my library overdrive account. I haven’t read it yet though…

Tessa, Close Liason has been calling me…good to know you like it!

“I race down the Grand Couloir, Courchevel, France.”
Rush by Emma Scott

Michele G October 18, 2018 at 2:31 PM

Oh forgot to say…yes Amy the chicken is phenomenal! And the blurb is very intriguing!

Michele G October 18, 2018 at 2:32 PM

Apparently Jenn and I chose different first lines from Rush …lol

bev October 18, 2018 at 2:49 PM

Help me choose based on a first line.

#1: “Dark Desires (Dark Gothic Book 1)” by Eve Silver -

“A thick gray wall of fog hovered over the damp stones of Hanbury Street, carrying the stink of old blood and rotting entrails.”

#2 “The Looking Glass” by Janet McNally -

“HERE I AM, BAREFOOT ON a stool in the wardrobe room, trying as hard as I can to stay still.”

#3 “The Accident Season” by Moïra Fowley-Doyle -

“So let’s raise our glasses to the accident season, To the river beneath us where we sink our souls, To the bruises and secrets, to the ghosts in the ceiling, One more drink for the watery road.

When I heard Bea chant the words, it was as if little insects were crawling in under my spine, ready to change it.”

#4 “Vengeful (Villains Book 2)” by V. E. Schwab -

“THE night Marcella died, she made her husband’s favorite dinner.”

Tasha J October 18, 2018 at 2:51 PM

The Accident Season

Amy October 18, 2018 at 3:05 PM

*puts up older-looking hand to a youthful Tessa*

bev…I’m torn between #2 and #3. One sounds suspenseful, but the other one sounds intriguing because of the writing. *shrug* How about #3?

Maryse…too soon to say about the writing, although it is VERY unique. I had to re-read the prologue a couple of times before it somewhat started to make sense, and even now I am hoping it will be clarified by the end. The POV is completely…different. That is the only way I can describe it. If I tried to put it in words, I would muck it up. Fingers crossed for this one!

Nay October 18, 2018 at 3:07 PM

bev–#4 Definitely!

If there’s anyone besides me who hasn’t read it yet, Preppy by T.M. Frazier is FREE on Amazon.

Maryse October 18, 2018 at 3:28 PM

I’m wanting #2 and #4 bev.

Michele G October 18, 2018 at 4:26 PM

Bev, they all sound interesting…I would go with #2.

Jan October 18, 2018 at 4:28 PM

Ooh bev. they all sound a bit creepy *shivers* Maybe #2???

Tasha I read and liked Josh and Hazels Guide and liked but didn’t *love* The h is goofy and cute and the H is a hot Korean American. It’s a fairly light and sweet read if you’re in the mood for that. Nothing like their fabulous Beautiful series though :(

Emily stood by the door with her breath caught in her throat, and her heart shattered all over again. from Surrender to Ruin by Carolyn Jewel. HR (Duh. It’s Jan)

bev October 18, 2018 at 7:37 PM

It seems like 2 has the most votes.

It looks good. Heroine is a ballerina with a missing sister. When the sister goes missing signs of her sister and their favorite fairy tales start appearing everywhere. And of course a mysterious guy, lol.

bev October 18, 2018 at 7:41 PM

Duh, It’s Jan is kind of catchy.

Bev: Hey Jan want to watch a k drama?

Jan: Duh, It’s Jan.

Cheryl October 18, 2018 at 9:10 PM

Have to check out this Bum Bum cream and the recipes. I’m with you Tasha, I’m not a good meal planner, I’m more a spur of the moment what am I in the mood for cook. I have been trying to do a crock pot meal at least once a week.

Bev, i vote for #2.

“My lungs sucked in air, bringing consciousness and chaos rushing back to me.” Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott. I just finished this book. Loved everything about both books. Also loving the covers.

Tessa October 18, 2018 at 10:28 PM

FLT part 2:
I can barely remember a time before the war.
The Queen of all That Dies by Laura Thassala

FYI, I loved Close Liaisons. I need the next book but am waiting for all pre-orders to go through before buying it.

Amy, you have me looking suspiciously at my hands all day long. lol
