Redemption, Timid and Josh and Hazel’s Guide to not Dating magically appeared in my library this morning!! It’s a miracle!!! Good morning Maryse and all you lovelies!! Now gotta run!! Xoxo
Good Morning!! Just sitting here with my coffee trying to make my grocery list. I already have a few books on my reading list though. Right now is Ride by Harper Dallas and I am also reading Begin Again by Mona Kasten & The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker this month. Hoping my book funk dissipating.
Good morning! Still debating about Josh and Hazel, wondering if it’s too cute or sweet for me??
Nay, if you met me in RL you wouldn’t like me because I am VERY cute and VERY sweet!!!
*howls with laughter*
Leslie–cute and sweet friends, children, grandbabies (had to throw that in there) don’t bore me. Of course, I already love you!!
On the other hand, cute and sweet heroes…just a big yawnfest for me.
I think Leslie is telling us she is not very sweet.
I remember when someone told us they thought of Leslie as a cheerleader.
I am starting to think Leslie dresses all in black. Big black hoodie, black jeans, and black chucks. Maybe black martins. No flannel shirts…too colorful.
Only listening to music birthed in Seattle.
But…shhh…..she only reads happy endings.
YAY LINDA!! You will be having a VERY good day. 😉
My preorder, Sadie by Courtney Summers, came in this morning. I’m still into Everything You Want Me to Be though, but that is NEXT! 🙂
Good Morning!
I hope someone can help me. I need a good PSYCH-THRILLER book. I know many of you love this genre. I however have not read too many but I do love them; I just have to be in the mood for them and right now I definitely am.
LeslieM-I loved “Ride” by Harper Dallas. You will have to let me know what you thought once you’ve read it.
Ok, the prologue of Josh and Hazel was really good. I think I’m going to like her.
I like this.
And two, I think there’s something about the eight-year-old brain that just resonates with me on a spiritual level. Third grade is my sweet spot; eight-year-olds are a trip.
Ha.
The hero is her bf’s Oppa.
Lol!
Best of the Month time! Mostly, because last month ended on a weird day with a 3 day weekend.
Best of August – Submitting in Vegas by Sam Mariano A very satisfying HEA to an important character, with tons of angst and drama. 😀
This month, there wasn’t a doubt. I loved Magic Triumphs, but it wasn’t as thrilling and tense as the last book, and the Heirs of Chicago book was a decent start, but she was trying to put too many people into the story right away. It wasn’t confusing, but stuff could have been taken out and introduced later.
In waiting for someone…anyone to respond to my message above because honestly I feel naked not having a book as “currently reading” hehe I searched on this blog for a list…as I know Maryse had to have one and I found so many goodies. Some I’ve read; and some I’m terrified to read; Now I really don’t know what I want to read as I look at list after list so now I don’t know if I want to swoon, cry, be terrified. Well actually I want all 3; any that will make me feel all of this in one book?
Some great books on yesterday’s list and today’s – – I think my TBR will definitely outlive me!! I don’t know how I’ll ever get all these books read… :-0
I had a bunch I really liked in August – can’t really pick just one. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, Execution by Lucia Franco and The Boy & His Ribbon/The Girl & Her Ren books by Pepper Winters. I had others that were up there too but those were my faves. My September is starting strong too…some good ones so far. I’m sure most of you have already read it but I finally jumped in and read Waiting For the Sun over the weekend and can’t rave enough about how much I enjoyed it! It sat on my TBR for way too long — but hey there are a ton of books on my TBR so it was it good company! 🙂 Seriously, if you haven’t read it yet, I do highly recommend it!
I’m so excited Redemption is out today. I can’t wait to dive in. The series is amazing.
Jenn, I read The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks earlier this summer and really liked it. You may want to try that one…
Maryse-“Meet the Sky” by McCall Hoyle was released today, I love the cover which is what attracted me to it…..it sounds heartbreaking.
I will look it up Jenn!!! Thank you!
Thank you Michele! *steals Grey’s glitter and pours it on your head* <3
I’m finishing up Binding 13, which is so well written and has all the feels. It was so worth reading.
Josh and Hazel looks like a good romp. I need some fun romance to liven
Up my book que!
Jenn a lot on here love Stolen. I’ve never read it, but it’s a Marmy if that’s what you want.
It’s fantastic!!!!! I mean, RE-READ fantastic, I just know it.
Bev- thank you! I did read “Stolen” back in 2013 and absolutely loved it. It’s definitely a book I never wanted to end and I have never forgotten. I miss Ty and Gemma ❤️
Michele G-I just saw your post about “ The Wife Between Us” and I’ve added it to my TBR to purchase at a later date as the price sadly is too high.
You know what today is for me? A day full of first-world problems which I am allowing to consume me. Because I am selfish like that. Compounded by PMS. Ever have those days where you want to kick the wall and break plates? No? Yeah, me neither. *whistles innocently*
BUT! This welcome little treat popped up in my library and made me happy…Sadie by Courtney Summers!!! I forgot today was the release day. 😀 The blurb gives it a Female of the Species vibe, but I’m going into it open minded and without any preconceived notions. Fingers crossed!
Bev, I wonder how surprised you would be to see what I really am like? Def not a cheerleader and no chucks or martins. But I do wear black yoga pants, black tshirts and hoodies! I also love my 90s music. 😉
Jenn, I am hoping I will love Ride. I like that the h & H are fighting their attraction but the snowboarding stuff, photography, etc. is boring me.
“I think my TBR will definitely outlive me!!”
*blink*
That. Was. Sobering.
Makes me want to clean up my library.
Then I remember Maryse’s comments about the apocalypse and our need for books in it.
And I’m right back where I started.
Aw HELL…I’m pouring a glass of wine since none of y’all are close enough to physically come and kick my a$$ out of this funk! 😆
Amy sometimes knowing its first world helps with perspective, but sometimes.. screw perspective.
Sometimes problems are problems and bad days are bad days.
I can remember a day I was PMSing so bad. I texted a friend that no one had better even sit by me or look at me, lol.
I hope your day gets better. I will eat some chocolate and dedicate it to you.
Actually chocolate, pjs, book or drama sounds divine right now.
I’m so happy a drama with Lee Min Ki is coming out on the 1st of October. Gah, love him.
Doesn’t it sound good?
https://www.dramabeans.com/2018/09/lee-min-ki-and-seo-hyun-jin-find-each-other-in-the-beauty-inside/
LeslieM- I know what you mean, I thought many times like really how many times can you sit in silence and look at the mountains-that really got to me-all in all though I still very much enjoyed it!
I found my psych thriller-at least I hope! I started “Empathy” by Ker Dukey and a good sign I was hooked from the very beginning…..
Leslie M
I loved RIDE. In fact thinking of rereading soon. Enjoy and let us know.
If there is an apocalypse-
Are all the books that are listed on my kindle already downloaded?
I am freaking out now bc maybe I should buy more kindles and make sure all my books are downloaded instead of up in the cloud.
I know I will be able to charge my kindle but of course not be able to access the cloud in the apocalypse. I’m sure I will have more important things to do like survival but I would to be able to read some.
My luck my kindle would break down.
Everyone is talking about pumpkin spice and I didnt realize that salted caramel fraps are out.
Also for pumpkin lovers you should try the DQ pumpkin pie blizzard when it is out. I dont eat them because I’m not a pumpkin fan, but know people that love and wait for them.
Thanks, bev. I feel better after my tantrum, and I feel ESPECIALLY good after reading your validation of my self-centeredness, LOL!! I’d hug you but…yeah. No. I’ve learned my lesson. 😛
Speaking of pumpkin spice! I just came across a recipe for whipped pumpkin spice butter made with pumpkin purée, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, and vanilla. Holy. Freaking. Moly. Makes me want to indulge in bagels, waffles, and pancakes just so I can top them with that stuff.
And indulge in a huge pumpkin pie blizzard. *sigh*
Amy I could totally eat that butter (your pumpkin one) if I change the honey to “Swerve”. YES!!!!
uh… Amy… recipe?
Oh, right… *grins sheepishly*
https://www.handletheheat.com/whipped-cinnamon-pumpkin-butter/#jump
Thank you! I’ll make it for morning toast. 🙂
Lol.
Your welcome.
Occasionally I have sweet side.
One clicked Hard Sell and starting it now. (Had to watch Bachelor in Paradise first ☺️). Several others look good like One More Moment and Josh and Hazel.
OMG…okay well first Good Morning and now OMG. I found the below in a post from 2015 yesterday in search of my next fix…
“Empathy by Ker Dukey <— HIGHLY recommended by so many in our reading crew. This one came up A LOT! AND THIS BLURB made me go YIKES!! Definite blurb-jolt alert! Maria said: “Favorite mindf**k of all time!!!!!!” and Jessica agrees, naming BOTH books in this series “Empathy and Desolate“"
Holy Hell I devoured this, I am sitting at work cross-eyed because I literally did not sleep. This was just what I needed and now I want to tare into the second book in the series but I think I need to breathe first…
OMG! Salted caramel frappe?? Pumpkin Pie Blizzards??Whipped Pumpkin Butter??
*hits floor with loud thud*
Good Morning.
I hope the day goes well for us all.
Leslie try them all. Is there any reason not to? I think not.
Good morning bev!! 😀
Leslie M-you had me at salted caramel frappe. Not a fan of pumpkin anything but I do love me some cinnamon whipped butter…YUM
Mmmmm cinnamon whipped butttttterrrrr!!!!!!!
Bev, where does one get this salted caramel frappe you speak of??
I am totally checking if the DQ near me has pumpkin blizzard!!!!
I was thinking of the same thing Maryse. No sugar that way. 🙂
Well, that or Stevia. And I hit the enter button to soon.
Also, one clicked the LJ Shen. She’s an autobuy for me now. 🙂
Maryse…are you doing the high-fat, medium protein keto or the vice-versa version? My nutritionist flipped out on me when I asked about possibly doing the high fat one. *snort* She’s been on me to consume more protein based on my prealbumin levels.
Tessa!! Have you tried it yet? I don’t have pumpkin purée right now, and I’m dying to find out what you think of it…
Amy I’m not high fat (I haven’t specifically upped my fat intake – although I allow myself healthy oils and butter and cheese without worry). My fat intake is pretty much the same as it once was (but now I don’t panic over NOT choosing low fat foods like milk, etc). Also just regular/medium daily protein – that hasn’t;t changed for me either (meat servings every day, or cottage cheese, and nuts, eggs and stuff), but what I am 100% is LOW CARB (20g a day or less..).
THAT is what I changed the most. I eat veggies like crazy, but NO MORE pasta or bread or rice for me. Or potatoes/starches of any sort.. NO sugar ever (unless from berries, naturally)
SOMETIMES I let myself go to 30-something grams, but it’s not daily.
Leslie…it’s at Starbucks. And if you don’t already, use the Starbucks app! You can load money or gift cards on it and earn free food and drinks. 😀
I’m loving One Day Soon (even though it’s a tough one) and Sadie is next in line for me, but THIS one has just jumped ahead in my TBR list…Evening by Susan Minot, on sale for 1.99! It sounds poignant and wistful and SO up my alley.
Amy, I finished Everything You Want Me to Be and it was fantastic! All consuming, don’t wanna come up for air, 5 Stars! I was on the verge of messaging my rage to u on GR towards the end. Totally thought I had it worked out a couple times. Lol
Sadie is next for me too!
Tasha! That’s how I felt reading it!! Even with knowing she was already dead from the beginning, I still ached at the end after getting to know her throughout the book.
And the letter. Oh, my heart…the letter. *sob*
If you ever message me on GR, be sure to let me know here. I don’t go on GR too often as my books automatically update from my Kindle app, so sometimes messages sit unread for a long time. 😳 Next time, rage away!!
Yep, Starbucks. My favorite drink there. They sprinkle salt on top. Yum.
I feel like I could go to sleep right now, but then I’d be up at some weird hour.
Trying to focus on something to stay awake, lol.
Back from vacation (we survived no wifi) and now back to work. Slowly catching up on posts.
Josh and Hazel sounds good, but price too high for me.
Love salted caramel and cinnamon butter, but don’t like pumpkin. Now I want toast with cinnamon butter… and a salted caramel latte. 😉
Yeh!! My daughter was eating ice cream when I went downstairs. Forgot we bought Wonder Women ice cream and it’s SALTED CARAMEL!!! Having a small bowl with sliced bananas and chocolate sauce. Heaven!!
Good Morning to All-
JR-In reading the comments I see you watch BIP too; all the Bachelor Series are my guilty pleasure. I however like to save up a bunch of episodes and than start watching so that by the time I am done with my saved episodes the series is over and I can complete. So with that being said I am only two episodes in and my heart was breaking for Colton…and I don’t know about you but I have never liked Tia and really can’t stand her now!
FLT- “It’s a beautiful day in the city.” Sadie by Courtney Summers. I wish I could read more today, but duty calls. 🙁 Yesterday was nice though, I got a ton of reading time in.
FLT:
“I turned my head in the pulsating room, caught by a flash of blond and the hint of a white tailored shirt.”
Taunt Me (Rough Love, #2) by Annabel Joseph
FLT:
White.
I stared at the nameplate by the doorbell.
Begin Again by Mona Kasten
FLT:
Before we get started, there are a few things you should know about me:
1. I am both broke and lazy—a terrible combination.
2. I am perpetually awkward at parties and in an effort to relax will probably end up drinking until I’m topless.
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating
Oh, Leslie’s pick makes me think of Jean.
I miss Jean.
FLT: “The Subaru station wagon comes to a sliding halt in a parking spot out front of the Balsam County police station, the fresh blanket of snow coating the asphalt making the streets slippery.” K. A. Tucker, Until It Fades. Loving it so far!
One last before work.
Had to share this because this song put a smile in my face. While I’m on a bus at a very early hour.
https://youtu.be/3ITAzmpf0dc
Let’s have a good day….reading, working, or playing.
Good luck on your read, Leslie! That seems like it could be a good one for you. I enjoyed it.
FLT:
“I look down at the red stains on my clothes; the soul that withered and died by my hands leaving its memory imprinted inside me was just that now…a reminiscence of a life I stole.”
Desolate by Ker Dukey
Bev, your FLT sounds good. If it’s a fun one, let me know when you’re finished. I think I need a breather after these last cpl books.

“Thunder crashed overhead and I huddled underneath the bridge, wanting the rain to stop.” ~ One Day Soon by A. Meredith Walters
REALLY good so far but tough at times because it deals with homeless teens. I forgot she wrote Bad Rep, and I loved that one! 😀
YAY!! Tasha is reading Sadie (my next read that I’m SO excited about!) and R is reading Until It Fades (*SWOON*).
“I am perpetually awkward at parties and in an effort to relax will probably end up drinking until I’m topless.” <——— That’s our bev. LOL!!!!
Lol.
I’m the perpetually awkward and dont go to parties or the perpetually awkward and follow the person she knows like a lost puppy.
Seriously, dont invite me to a party or I will be your shadow.
Bev, I laughed out loud. Thought at first you were doing “two things” and those were about you!! Seemed plausible, although I was a little surprised about the topless part!! Then I noticed the FLT! 😉

“On her deathbed, my mother said the heart is a lonely hunter.” Dirty Headlines by LJ Shen.
That would be funny if I just randomly started confessing my dark secrets 3 things style.

Just clicked DIRTY HEADLINES. Is it good?
Julie, so far it is ok. It’s in both pov’s and the writing bothers me. Not sure the best way to describe it other than maybe immature. We’ll see.

Let me know bc if you don’t like it I will return it. Won’t waste my time. Usually LJ Shen is pretty good.
