Friday the 13th!!! Holy moly this should be a scary Friday Finds post BUT IT IS NOT!!! 😉 It would be fun to theme it since I love the scary ones, but I know my fellow readers (along with me) love the LOVE… so fiiiiiiiiiiine. Cheryl: Just finished Our Unscripted Story. I forget who said the blurb sounds great … but you were so right! I loved it. The story followed the MC’s who met as teens. There was such angst wondering if they would end up together and along with that I also had such foreboding that something really bad was going to happen. I think it was the cover that started that thought. I was really hoping it wasn’t going to be one of “those” books. You know the one’s Amy and Maryse love. I’m back and forth between 4.5-5 stars. Couple things were a bit of a stretch for me.

Marion:  I think this is the best book I’ve read so far this year. Certainly the best book this writing duo has written and they have certainly come out with some good ones. Love it!

Robin C: Hello, I am a avid reader living North of Seattle and stumbled across the BEST vampire series that I have ever read. I found it because Book One is free and when I started it, I could not put it down. It takes the “normal” vampire lore and adds some twists that make it so original. I know you are always looking for new and fresh ideas to share so I wanted to share my find. I have started following this Canadian author and have now read every book she has written. I received this question from two different readers (Anna & Jennifer) so I have a feeling it’s a recent release.

Both questions are short (short, but not so sweet… maybe even a little dark). Plenty of detail, though, if you’ve read it, so let us know.

P.S. Proceed carefully, ’cause I can’t tell if they tell us the book from beginning to end (or if this is how the book actually starts)?

Kandace!!! In fact, I read it a couple of years ago and here’s my review. I still remember every detail of it to this day (absolutely unforgettable), but it certainly took me out of my comfort zone.

Reader Recommendations – Modern Day Pirate Romance Books (and Historical Pirates, too!)

HEY!!! Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!! That is an EXCELLENT request, and it came from Paris. Not the city… the reader. 😉 And she has her own suggestion and is looking for more:

Paris: I was wondering if you could recommend any modern day pirate books? I’ve read Criminals of the Ocean and I haven’t been able to find anything else’s like it!

Let’s get this list going shall we? Bad boy criminals of a different genre (’cause pirates aren’t only in historical romance… right?) 😀

Ann: …who wants real life when you can sail the high seas with a rugged pirate or be swept off your feet by a hot alpha hero, sigh, a girl can dream, can’t she?

Lauren: The Bella Jewel pirate book is incredible…. I just loved Hendrix from book 1.

Teresa: I don’t usually like pirate books, but I loved this one. Her books are definitely worth buying.Jean: I read Enslaved by the Ocean a while ago and loved it…… so different… hot pirate…

Jessica: Elusive by LA Fiore! Sorry! …I love all her books

MichelleS: I started Paula Quinn’s “The Wicked Ways of Alexander Kidd”. OMG. So in love already just on chapter 4. This is exactly what I needed.

Adventure. A wicked wicked hot pirate, the Highland lassie who is s tow-away on his ship – with a “saucy mouth” and a virgin…. YES… don’t laugh people. I used to devour this stuff. And you know what? When done right, it is so freaking awesome. And I love love love Paula Quinn, so this is fabulous. And did I mention the heat? I was having an hour long message this morning and kept thinking, when can I get back to my book? So you know I’ve got THAt feeling. And I needed that. A total escape.

MichelleS: yipee…. I am loving this swashbuckling pirate. He’s so bad! And she is so feisty. This is just fun. And sometimes I need fun. (kind of reminds me of Kresley Cole’s Captain of all Pleasures, remember that one? adventure from page one? – that feel). Anyway – didn’t want you to miss out on the sexy pirate, …If you’re in a mood for that 1800′s adventure romance. …I have to get back to the story. Her daddy and uncle (the Chieftain of the clan) are not happy about her “abduction” (they don’t know she stowed away) and they are coming after him! GASP! And, of course, they just landed in Portugal and the local ladies are all over him like bees on honey and she is not happy! SNORT. Remember loving this stuff?

MichelleS: BTW, finished The Wicked ways of Alexander Kidd. Loved it. Exactly what I needed to clean my palate. this heroine is not a wishy-washy girl – the total opposite. Maybe that’s why I loved it …I needed a stubborn wench who slaps pirates when they get too handsy!! HA!

  • Tempted by Virginia Henley <— Joy P recommends this one!

I hadn’t thought about reading a pirate romance until I read this post. Since I really, really, really like Historical, Regency, British, Viking, Irish/Scottish Highlander stuff; adding some pirates in the mix sounds like a good idea.
I’m a big fan of Virginia Henley!!! Check her out, her books are so, so good. The first book of hers that I read is Tempted. It has a bit of the pirate theme in it.

Virginia puts a great deal of research and thought into her books. I love going online and researching the clans and their history, while I’m reading her books. Tempted is a romance about a marriage between “Flaming” Tina Kennedy (well known for her beauty and flaming red hair) and Lord Ramsay “Hotspur” Douglas (well known for his sexual prowess, leadership skills and his attractiveness).

Neither one wants to be tied down in marriage to the other but there is desire and intense sexual attraction between the two that is undeniable. This story has it all! Intrigue, romance, hot sex, history, betrayal, spies, snarky banter and love. I’ve read it multiple times because its such a great love story.

At one point in the story, the coast of Scotland is being raided and villages burned by English pirates. An unknown Scottish pirate began raiding the English coast and England’s king places a huge bounty on his head and offers money for any information that leads to the identity of the pirate.

The twists and turns that this story has in it, had me unable to put it down. Its long, but it’s a must read. Tempted is one of a trilogy. Virginia Henley’s books are amazing.

Anyway, all that to say, two of my favorite authors have just released book #1 in their newest series and #2 is already up for preorder (and coming out soon!) It’s actually a duet (not standalones), so that book will complete it! 😀

Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.

I should add–especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss. Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town. Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush. And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down. I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close. I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me. As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting–and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
