The Lonely
This was a pretty great read and I couldn’t put it down, but it was one of “those” that I had to contemplate for a day to figure out where I stood with it. An interesting and eerie love story exploring a whole new set of damaged pasts and broken futures. Had a bit of that Hopeless/Ten Tiny Breaths/Fifty Shades feel and throw in a little bit of Stockholm Syndrome for good measure! (I know right? Weird combo… but it did actually end up working well). So thanks to many of you for this recommendation! You’re right, it was right up my dark alley!

Book Review – Truth by Aleatha Romig
Truth (Consequences)
*spoiler alert* While I don’t give anything away in this review, in terms of twists and reveals, I DO work through my feelings of one of the most important parts of the book. The hero/villain. Skip this review if you haven’t read book #1 yet, and check out that review instead. And if you haven’t read #2, but you’re going to start, I dunno if you read this review yet, either.
Beware… this is probably the longest “review” I have ever written, and it’s mostly just me arguing with myself. LOL! 😉
Aleatha Romig – Consequences Trilogy Reading Order
I’m continuing with my “dark reads” weekend ’cause now I’m reading “Truth” as we speak. I thought I’d go ahead and put up the reading order guide for this series. I need to know when book #3 will be out (alas… it’s still listed as TBA). These books are making me crazy (but I love it). I’m scared, titillated, appalled, and every time I hear his voice now, I tremble (and not in the good way). Psychological thriller with that touch of stockholm syndrome romance. Er… if you can call it that. Hey I don’t know yet. I’m still reading. Yep. If you like this kind of very dark read, I can certainly recommend this one!
Book Review – Consequences by Aleatha Romig
Consequences
Okay… how to start this review other than with, my first reaction upon ending the book. “What the…? O.M.G!” And then, I did a quick search for a certain name to confirm what just happened… happened. And then I repeated it. “O.M.G!”
This is NOT a love story. Or maybe it is… or I dunno? I’m a mess. This is like a Lifetime movie on steroids. It’s twisted, it’s scary, it’s just… it’s a crazy story and exactly the kind of thing I love to read when I need that jolt. It’s about obsession, control, lack of control, being forced to surrender the most basic thing that we take for granted. Ourselves. Our choices. Our freedoms. And the “hero” or I should say anti-hero? Actually no. The villain. That seemingly perfect, gorgeous wealthy tycoon that has it all, but that is obviously so broken.
Currently Reading… Consequences by Aleatha Romig
Consequences
Okay so once upon a time (last year) I started reading a book called Consequences by Aleatha Romig. And it was right up my alley. Dark, kidnapping, Stolkholm syndrome-y, the works. ‘Cept… I got to 30-something percent and I panicked. Especially after hearing that there was a part I was coming up to that was realllllly “eeeeeeeeeep-worthy” and would make me hate him even more than I already did.
I didn’t want to know, and I put my book in the freezer. Well. No ’cause it’s on my iPad, and it woulda broke, but you know… 😉 I ran away from it, scrolled it down my TBR list (but kept it on there) and moved onto “lighter” reads. It sat there, taunting me to pick it back up. My fellow readers continued reading without me, and there was a reader-frenzy!! So many of you LOVED it (while simultaneously hating… it. Stuff. Parts. Him? Definitely hated him). But you encouraged me to continue. Actually more like taunted me. Just like the book, and it’s mysterious eerie cover and strange hold on me… taunting and tempting me to finish it.
