Outlander
Frequently recommended to me (especially by my sister and niece), I decided to give this series a try, when book #1 was given away as a free e-book. What a perfect opportunity! I’ll admit, the first quarter of the book didn’t floor me, but it didn’t take much longer than that, and I was swept away into the 1700’s and didn’t want to come back π No vampires, no Weres, no mystical gods in this one, however the time travel mystery that takes Claire Randall away from her home and husband to another time (and another man’s arms *gasp*) was good enough for me!

Beyond the Highland Mist
This one was intense! The romantic despair was off the charts, and scorching hot. While some might find it to be a bit much, my “romance sweet tooth” was greatly appeased π
So, way back in the 1500’s, there is this absolutely GORGEOUS mortal in Scotland (Sidheach AKA “Hawk ” – who is perfect in EVERY way), and he has caught the eye of the Fae Queen. Hawk is desired by every female, but takes none into his heart. In essence, he is the 1500’s version of a “player”. A total heartbreaker, he has managed to anger many females who swore to make him theirs. The Queen is amused by his reputation and greatly intrigued. She flaunts his prowess to her equally gorgeous royal (and immortal) Fae subjects.Β Now suddenly they are extremely jealous too, and a few in particular start scheming against the human Highlander. And you know those pesky Fae….once they start causing trouble, it can have devastating effects on the mortal world.
